May 15, 2015 4:47 PM - Bill Monroe: the print i was just doing had the support come loose and get caught in the parts fan.. my machine is so quiet now, the noise it made scared the filament out of me
May 15, 2015 4:48 PM - Stephen Capistron: ha. I still need to order a new / better hot end fan

May 15, 2015 5:39 PM - jbigler1986: I will Yeah. Gotta finish this one first and print a few things for my work
May 15, 2015 5:40 PM - jbigler1986: On and print a weight for the left side of the carriage
May 15, 2015 5:41 PM - Mike Glass: are you bowden now?
May 15, 2015 5:43 PM - Bill Monroe: super glue work well on PLA?
May 15, 2015 5:44 PM - Mike Glass: hell yeah
    May 15, 2015 5:44 PM - Bill Monroe: ok thanks :)
May 15, 2015 5:45 PM - Mike Glass: be quick, best to use the gel its more forgiving and has a longer dry time, by at least .005 seconds
    May 15, 2015 5:45 PM - jbigler1986: Not bowden yet.
    May 15, 2015 5:45 PM - jbigler1986: Bondic us great for PLA
    May 15, 2015 5:45 PM - Bill Monroe: i can be quick
May 15, 2015 5:46 PM - Bill Monroe: Bondic unheard of on the Best Coast
    May 15, 2015 5:46 PM - jbigler1986: Look it up. It's awesome
May 15, 2015 5:48 PM - Mike Glass: but if your gluing parts two parts together how does the light get to it to cure it?
May 15, 2015 5:50 PM - Mike Glass: I think bodic is just a topical glue
May 15, 2015 5:51 PM - jbigler1986: Just needs a tiny crack to get light in. Can just glue the outside parts. It's super strong and clear
May 15, 2015 5:53 PM - jbigler1986: Used it for my tool holder. Put a bunch of weight in it and picked it up with one half. Didn't bow at all where the parts are connected
May 15, 2015 5:54 PM - Mike Glass: cool, but still wouldnt use on a sliced part though
    May 15, 2015 5:55 PM - jbigler1986: I would
May 15, 2015 5:55 PM - jbigler1986: PLA at least. Haven't tried it on abs
May 15, 2015 5:56 PM - Mike Glass: gap would be too big and look wierd, super glue is just super thin so wouldn't have to have a crack to let light in.
May 15, 2015 5:58 PM - Droid: ive used superglue on both PLA and ABS, works good
    May 15, 2015 5:59 PM - jbigler1986: I have yet to slice a part. But I would try it if I did
May 15, 2015 6:01 PM - Mike Glass: superglue on abs seems to be faster drying for some reason
May 15, 2015 6:01 PM - Droid: ive used it on sliced parts and fixing cracks
May 15, 2015 6:01 PM - Mike Glass: acetone works good also for adhering parts for abs
May 15, 2015 6:02 PM - Mike Glass: im doing a test right now with MEK on vapor polishing and adhearing parts
    May 15, 2015 6:22 PM - Droid: first test print with colorfabb xt, hotend@250*c, bed@70*c, speed 45mm/sec, layer height .20, infill .25, retraction 1mm

    May 15, 2015 6:24 PM - Droid: filament 1.75 measured and set at 1.72
May 15, 2015 6:25 PM - Mike Glass: throw it out, xt is crap..lol
    May 15, 2015 6:26 PM - Droid: :( o_O
May 15, 2015 6:26 PM - Droid: i hope not just got 3 spools of it
May 15, 2015 6:27 PM - Mike Glass: I have the white xt new formula, I effin hate it
May 15, 2015 6:27 PM - Mike Glass: the old formula was better
May 15, 2015 6:27 PM - Mike Glass: you have to go so god awefull slow with it, aint worth my time or the money
May 15, 2015 6:28 PM - Bill Monroe: hang on droid.. I'm taking a pic of mine with green xt
May 15, 2015 6:28 PM - Droid: did you look at my pics o_O
May 15, 2015 6:29 PM - Mike Glass: yea, typical gaps and uneven lines,
May 15, 2015 6:29 PM - Mike Glass: but white is the hardest to look nice, so im just biased
May 15, 2015 6:31 PM - Mike Glass: it is nice stuff if you can get a good part, nice and strong, but I rather use nylon bridge if I need a strong part.
May 15, 2015 6:33 PM - Droid: the sharp corners of the square were warping during the print but it was fully attached to the bed
    May 15, 2015 6:33 PM - Bill Monroe: [IMG]
May 15, 2015 6:34 PM - Droid: then the top layer before the 1/4 domes and cubes peeled/warped back
May 15, 2015 6:35 PM - Droid: how many top layers Bill?

May 15, 2015 6:50 PM - Bill Monroe: this is when I was dialing in settings.. I'm pretty sure the one on the far right was 235 [IMG]
May 15, 2015 6:51 PM - Bill Monroe: that was with the stock robo.. now I could do a LOT better

May 15, 2015 7:23 PM - Droid: are those dragons mkelly printing done with support?
    May 15, 2015 7:41 PM - jbigler1986: Nope. No support needed
May 15, 2015 7:41 PM - jbigler1986: That was Mike Glass. I printed one. Prints great without support if your printer is tuned
May 15, 2015 7:47 PM - Droid: this is the file correct? http://www.thingiverse.com/thing:600550
    May 15, 2015 7:48 PM - Mike Glass: yup
May 15, 2015 7:48 PM - Mike Glass: print at 25% infill with 3 per and 6 top layers
May 15, 2015 7:49 PM - Droid: probably start that print tomorrow
May 15, 2015 7:51 PM - Mike Glass: The last one I did was 16 hours, 2 pieces
May 15, 2015 7:59 PM - daniel871: Welp, jury is still out because calibration cube is printing, but it looks like a simple paper test leveling may have fixed the Z touchoff/offset issue.
May 15, 2015 8:01 PM - daniel871: Now I just need a thing to print that will run about 8 hours on high detail so I can test overnight printing and see if it does what it should do left alone overnight.
    May 15, 2015 8:02 PM - daniel871: 40mm/s perimeters and 60mm/s infill speeds.
May 15, 2015 8:03 PM - Mike Glass: do the Aria dragon
    May 15, 2015 8:04 PM - daniel871: Which one is that?
May 15, 2015 8:04 PM - Mike Glass: the link that Droid posted above
    May 15, 2015 8:05 PM - daniel871: 600550?
    May 15, 2015 8:05 PM - Mike Glass: yea
May 15, 2015 8:05 PM - daniel871: Got a few minutes left downloading netfabb basic, then I'll get that.
    May 15, 2015 8:06 PM - daniel871: Rural DSL sucks.
May 15, 2015 8:08 PM - Mike Glass: im just starting this one http://www.thingiverse.com/thing:246198 13 hour print
    May 15, 2015 8:09 PM - daniel871: Regular or decimated?
    May 15, 2015 8:09 PM - Mike Glass: decimated
    May 15, 2015 8:10 PM - jbigler1986: [IMG]
May 15, 2015 8:11 PM - Mike Glass: 45 meg for the gcode it just generated..
    May 15, 2015 8:11 PM - daniel871: Router?
    May 15, 2015 8:11 PM - jbigler1986: Mini pc
    May 15, 2015 8:11 PM - jbigler1986: For the robo
    May 15, 2015 8:12 PM - daniel871: LOL, just saw Robots In Disguise's thread.
May 15, 2015 8:13 PM - daniel871: "My particular printer has something wrong with it, therefore all of the printers of this model are terrible"
    May 15, 2015 8:13 PM - jbigler1986: Who said that
    May 15, 2015 8:14 PM - daniel871: "Robots in Disguise"
    May 15, 2015 8:14 PM - daniel871: Between the thread post and profile posts/statuses.
    May 15, 2015 8:17 PM - daniel871: http://community.robo3d.com/index.php?posts/46704/
    May 15, 2015 8:18 PM - daniel871: Is $60 for (3) 1kg spools of Taulman Bridge a decent deal?
May 15, 2015 8:19 PM - Mike Glass: about going rate
May 15, 2015 8:19 PM - Mike Glass: dont think they are 1kg though
    May 15, 2015 8:21 PM - Mike Glass: most I have seen is 1lb
    May 15, 2015 8:21 PM - daniel871: Sorry. 1lb.
May 15, 2015 8:21 PM - daniel871: So used to seeing kg on other spools.
    May 15, 2015 8:21 PM - jbigler1986: i haven't bought any
May 15, 2015 8:22 PM - Mike Glass: amazon prime has it for $20 a spool from filabot
May 15, 2015 8:24 PM - daniel871: Welp, going to give S3D a shot at printing that Aria dragon and go to bed if it doesn't immediately fail. Any specific layer thicknesses I should do for it or just "high detail"?
May 15, 2015 8:25 PM - jbigler1986: i will stick to my shaxon and hatchbox
May 15, 2015 8:25 PM - daniel871: (post G-code to the SD card and run from the LCD screen of course)
    May 15, 2015 8:26 PM - Mike Glass: I did .2
    May 15, 2015 8:26 PM - jbigler1986: ugh. quicktime
May 15, 2015 8:26 PM - daniel871: I know Mike said something about layer thicknesses and solid top layers earlier, but can't seem to scroll up enough on the shoutbox to read it.
May 15, 2015 8:27 PM - Mike Glass: oh 6 layers for top
    May 15, 2015 8:27 PM - daniel871: What about infill?
    May 15, 2015 8:27 PM - Mike Glass: and 3 shells
    May 15, 2015 8:27 PM - Mike Glass: 25 infill
May 15, 2015 8:27 PM - Mike Glass: or you can go 35 infill and 3 top layers
    May 15, 2015 8:28 PM - daniel871: does the infill pattern matter?
    May 15, 2015 8:28 PM - daniel871: rectilinear right now.
May 15, 2015 8:28 PM - Mike Glass: yea keep that
    May 15, 2015 8:28 PM - jbigler1986: less movements
May 15, 2015 8:29 PM - daniel871: The printing speed screen is a little weird.
    May 15, 2015 8:29 PM - daniel871: 3600mm
    May 15, 2015 8:30 PM - daniel871: Oh!
    May 15, 2015 8:30 PM - daniel871: Per minute.
    May 15, 2015 8:30 PM - jbigler1986: change it
May 15, 2015 8:30 PM - daniel871: S3D has per minute vs per second in MC.
May 15, 2015 8:30 PM - jbigler1986: you can change it to per second
May 15, 2015 8:30 PM - Mike Glass: I changed my to per second
May 15, 2015 8:30 PM - Droid: or just do the math and divide by 60
    May 15, 2015 8:31 PM - jbigler1986: change it. it's easier
    May 15, 2015 8:31 PM - Droid: 60mm/secX60=3600mm/minute
    May 15, 2015 8:31 PM - daniel871: Where is that setting at?
    May 15, 2015 8:32 PM - daniel871: Tools > Options, found it
    May 15, 2015 8:34 PM - daniel871: 2 hours and 4 minutes?
    May 15, 2015 8:34 PM - daniel871: Seems kinda short.
May 15, 2015 8:34 PM - Mike Glass: yea I would do it at 30-40 ms
May 15, 2015 8:36 PM - Mike Glass: scale it up like I did 1.7325..lol it will take it to the top of the robo within a few mm
    May 15, 2015 8:37 PM - daniel871: Better. 6 hours.
May 15, 2015 8:37 PM - daniel871: Okay, going to save that code and start it.
    May 15, 2015 8:39 PM - daniel871: *fingers crossed while everything is pre-heating*
    May 15, 2015 8:40 PM - Mike Glass: I think I left this one at 60 speed, was suppose to be a 27 hour print..see what happens..lol
May 15, 2015 8:42 PM - daniel871: Also did a halfass bowden feed by putting PTFE tube between the top of the wade extruder and the slot in the top of the robo. It neatly wraps around the spool as the axis goes up without binding on anything when I ran it up and down the length of travel so hopefully that will stop any filament snags at the top of the printer.
May 15, 2015 8:44 PM - Mike Glass: good idea, I need to move my spool off the top, really dont like it there.
May 15, 2015 8:44 PM - jbigler1986: going to be printing bowden stuff soon
May 15, 2015 8:45 PM - daniel871: Okay, this is already looking pretty slick. S3D is doing a much better job overlapping the solid lines on the base layer than MC did.
May 15, 2015 8:46 PM - jbigler1986: about to see if this thing can handle streaming and printer connected
    May 15, 2015 8:46 PM - jbigler1986: MC sucks
    May 15, 2015 8:46 PM - jbigler1986: you will never look back
May 15, 2015 8:47 PM - daniel871: Now that I know to keep an eye on the X-axis level to the bed with the Z-rods, hopefully I'll never go back to MC.
May 15, 2015 8:47 PM - daniel871: How often does it get out of line for you guys?

May 15, 2015 8:49 PM - daniel871: (if ever, after fixing the one time and not screwing with the actual hardware)
May 15, 2015 8:49 PM - jbigler1986: did all of the time with the couplers
May 15, 2015 8:51 PM - daniel871: Well, looks like the problem is fixed now. I'm going to see about getting some sleep and will post a pic of the finished dragon in the morning.
May 15, 2015 8:51 PM - Mike Glass: I see a .01-.02 drift in a few months, but if you tip it up side down and mess with it it seems to knock it out
May 15, 2015 8:51 PM - daniel871: Assuming it doesn't fuck up between now and then.
May 15, 2015 8:51 PM - Mike Glass: ha have faith good night daniel
May 15, 2015 8:52 PM - daniel871: Later, and thanks for all the help and putting up with my griping.
May 15, 2015 8:52 PM - Mike Glass: I rarely let mine run over night but now its been running all week day and night..
    May 15, 2015 8:52 PM - jbigler1986: we have all been there
May 15, 2015 8:55 PM - Mike Glass: This new dragon im doing in a new cinnamon color

May 15, 2015 at 9:13 PM - jbigler1986: Hmmm. Issues here. Let's see what we can try
May 15, 2015 at 9:14 PM - Mike Glass: did you install arduino software first?
    May 15, 2015 at 9:15 PM - jbigler1986: Yep
May 15, 2015 at 9:16 PM - jbigler1986: Trying to open com1. Only ever seen the robo use com3
May 15, 2015 at 9:18 PM - Mike Glass: depends on the hardware
May 15, 2015 at 9:19 PM - jbigler1986: Hell even on raspberry pi it was com3
May 15, 2015 at 9:22 PM - jbigler1986: Got it. Just had to switch the port
    May 15, 2015 at 9:23 PM - jbigler1986: But it was com3
May 15, 2015 at 9:24 PM - jbigler1986: Sweet. I can do both at the same time on this.
May 15, 2015 at 9:26 PM - Mike Glass: nice
May 15, 2015 at 9:26 PM - jbigler1986: about to start the weight part
May 15, 2015 at 9:32 PM - jbigler1986: gotta set it up on the desk really quick. give me like 5 minutes

May 15, 2015 at 9:54 PM - TechSupportGo: did they put that thing at the top of the page to keep people from asking questions in the shoutbox? "Got a question or need help troubleshooting? Post to the troubleshooting forum or Search the forums!"
May 15, 2015 at 9:55 PM - jbigler1986: not sure. I really don't mind people coming here asking questions
May 15, 2015 at 9:58 PM - TechSupportGo: I should have searched the forum for that question lol
May 15, 2015 at 9:59 PM - TechSupportGo: Jb yo uwork for robo?
May 15, 2015 at 10:01 PM - Mike Glass: we all do

May 15, 2015 at 10:13 PM - TechSupportGo: I make 54k after taxes just in pension
May 15, 2015 at 10:13 PM - Mike Glass: why do u keep restarting

May 15, 2015 at 10:15 PM - TechSupportGo: could be a freaking year before I know anything on that though. I love computer stuff though and this is quickly becoming a new passion for me :)

May 15, 2015 at 10:18 PM - jbigler1986: did you change MOS or stay the same all throughout?
May 15, 2015 at 10:18 PM - Mike Glass: oh yeah works awesome
May 15, 2015 at 10:19 PM - TechSupportGo: I kept the same MOS but when I was in SF they reviewd my records as an 18 series just for promotion
    May 15, 2015 at 10:20 PM - TechSupportGo: 91z mechanic
May 15, 2015 at 10:20 PM - jbigler1986: idk how you did it. 3 years was enough for me. 19D

May 15, 2015 at 10:34 PM - TechSupportGo: I am making a bust model of my my wife in zbrush with some cool fire hair
May 15, 2015 at 10:35 PM - TechSupportGo: nice whats your next project on it
    May 15, 2015 at 10:35 PM - Mike Glass: to 3d print?
    May 15, 2015 at 10:35 PM - jbigler1986: lets try again
    May 15, 2015 at 10:35 PM - jbigler1986: fucker
May 15, 2015 at 10:36 PM - Mike Glass: i want mill some brass for our business logo
May 15, 2015 at 10:36 PM - TechSupportGo: yeah.. trying to make it without support. then gonna print a pedestal separate
May 15, 2015 at 10:36 PM - Mike Glass: for a branding iron
May 15, 2015 at 10:37 PM - TechSupportGo: you gonna brand your arm with it!!!
    May 15, 2015 at 10:37 PM - jbigler1986: lol
May 15, 2015 at 10:37 PM - Mike Glass: i have a tatoo thats close
May 15, 2015 at 10:38 PM - jbigler1986: changed nozzles, seasoned and loosened the spring tension bolts. lets see
May 15, 2015 at 10:38 PM - TechSupportGo: that would be hardcore  my cousin did his arm with a coat hanger
    May 15, 2015 at 10:39 PM - jbigler1986: alright. problem solved
    May 15, 2015 at 10:39 PM - Mike Glass: did u reboot
May 15, 2015 at 10:39 PM - daniel871: Welp, so much for that print.
May 15, 2015 at 10:39 PM - jbigler1986: nope. left it streaming while i fixed it
May 15, 2015 at 10:40 PM - jbigler1986: i think it was mostly the tension bolts were way to tight
    May 15, 2015 at 10:41 PM - Mike Glass: really dan>
    May 15, 2015 at 10:41 PM - daniel871: Yep.
May 15, 2015 at 10:41 PM - Mike Glass: what hapoened
May 15, 2015 at 10:42 PM - daniel871: Filament stopped coming out of the hotend even though the extruder was still turning and temps were where they should be.
May 15, 2015 at 10:42 PM - daniel871: Can't pull the filament back out of the extruder by pulling the top open though. This is weird.
May 15, 2015 at 10:42 PM - Mike Glass: not enough heat?
May 15, 2015 at 10:42 PM - daniel871: 260C ought to be enough heat for PET.
May 15, 2015 at 10:43 PM - daniel871: Kept having to clean the hotend during heatup at the start of the print because filament would just ooze out while waiting to reach final temp.
May 15, 2015 at 10:44 PM - daniel871: (hotend heated up far faster than the bed did).
May 15, 2015 at 10:44 PM - Mike Glass: i manually heat both at the same time
May 15, 2015 at 10:45 PM - jbigler1986: Try loosening the spring tension bolts a little

May 15, 2015 at 10:45 PM - daniel871: Did the same under the "Prepare" menu on the LCD and then went "Print from SD" after both got to the temps the program would ask for.
May 15, 2015 at 10:47 PM - daniel871: How loose? The springs currently look like they are fairly compressed, but how should they look?
May 15, 2015 at 10:47 PM - daniel871: Also they're how they were set when shipped to me, though that may not mean much apparently.
May 15, 2015 at 10:47 PM - jbigler1986: Just back them out a full turn on each
May 15, 2015 at 10:48 PM - jbigler1986: I just had mine way to tight and had extruding issues. My own stupid fault
May 15, 2015 at 10:48 PM - TechSupportGo: omg my computer is going to reset in 10 mins !! I am 40 hours in to a 42 hour print!!
    May 15, 2015 at 10:49 PM - jbigler1986: Cancel that crap
    May 15, 2015 at 10:49 PM - Mike Glass: postpone 4 hours
May 15, 2015 at 10:49 PM - jbigler1986: Another reason to print from SD TSG
May 15, 2015 at 10:49 PM - TechSupportGo: I am trying its not giving the option
May 15, 2015 at 10:50 PM - daniel871: Okay, heating the hotend back up with the LCD and going to manually tell it to extrude a mm or two and adjust those tensioners.
May 15, 2015 at 10:50 PM - TechSupportGo: I even cmd ran this NET STOP wuauserv
May 15, 2015 at 10:51 PM - jbigler1986: Daniel just loosen the screws a full turn
May 15, 2015 at 10:51 PM - jbigler1986: Threads are free NE enough that, that should be enough
May 15, 2015 at 10:51 PM - TechSupportGo: yes!!! just added aday
    May 15, 2015 at 10:51 PM - jbigler1986: Errr
    May 15, 2015 at 10:52 PM - jbigler1986: I give up on spelling for the night. It's 2am here
    May 15, 2015 at 10:52 PM - jbigler1986: I'm calling it a night
May 15, 2015 at 10:53 PM - jbigler1986: Have fun and hopefully these guys help you solve your problem daniel
May 15, 2015 at 10:56 PM - Mike Glass: im out to night all
May 16, 2015 at 1:25 AM - bamhm182: So my Bowden setup seems to be working pretty well when I remember to oil it before using it. That's going to take some getting used to, but won't be too hard once it becomes a habit.
May 16, 2015 at 1:25 AM - bamhm182: The only problem I'm having is dear god there's a ton of stringing.
    May 16, 2015 at 1:25 AM - bamhm182: [IMG]
May 16, 2015 at 1:27 AM - bamhm182: The right one is at 1mm retraction, which eliminated all stringing on my Direct Drive. The left is 5mm retraction
May 16, 2015 at 1:47 AM - bamhm182: Looks like my e-steps are off a bit. Getting about 95.28% of the intended movement. Probably won't make a huge difference, but might as well try to tighten that up a bit.
May 16, 2015 at 3:39 AM - jbigler1986: Yep. Stringing takes a little bit to get it dialed in for bowden
May 16, 2015 at 4:00 AM - Bill Monroe: good morning
    May 16, 2015 at 4:06 AM - TechSupportGo: I am still up
May 16, 2015 at 4:06 AM - Bill Monroe: ok
    May 16, 2015 at 4:06 AM - TechSupportGo: https://docs.google.com/file/d/0B8FWeUGKaHaxNEMwOUVyZUF1Z3c/edit?usp=docslist_api
May 16, 2015 at 4:08 AM - TechSupportGo: I pulled the support off right there, still needs cleaning up but I am happy :D
May 16, 2015 at 4:09 AM - TechSupportGo: What do you think brother
May 16, 2015 at 4:15 AM - Bill Monroe: I think you need some sleep :)
    May 16, 2015 at 4:28 AM - jbigler1986: BIll
May 16, 2015 at 4:29 AM - jbigler1986: About to print with the weight. I just put a bunch of change in it
    May 16, 2015 at 4:48 AM - jbigler1986: http://www.ustream.tv/channel/jbigler1986
May 16, 2015 at 4:52 AM - bamhm182: I'm still up too, yay night shift!
    May 16, 2015 at 4:52 AM - bamhm182: Hey guys
    May 16, 2015 at 4:52 AM - bamhm182: TSG, that looks awesome
    May 16, 2015 at 4:53 AM - bamhm182: It's all one color and that's just a weird glare, right?
May 16, 2015 at 4:53 AM - bamhm182: What do you mean with the weight?
May 16, 2015 at 4:53 AM - bamhm182: You added the counter weight on the right left side?
    May 16, 2015 at 4:59 AM - jbigler1986: Left side yes
    May 16, 2015 at 4:59 AM - bamhm182: Sweet
May 16, 2015 at 5:00 AM - jbigler1986: The right side was always like .1mm higher than the left while printing the first layer. Stuff prints fine but it was very annoying
    May 16, 2015 at 5:01 AM - bamhm182: http://www.ebay.com/itm/381235624648?_trksid=p2060353.m2749.l2649&ssPageName=STRK:MEBIDX:IT
    May 16, 2015 at 5:01 AM - bamhm182: I just bought one of those
May 16, 2015 at 5:03 AM - bamhm182: I weighed a motor I took off and it is about 281g. I figure what I'm going to do is replace the bolt holding on the left bearing for the belt with one that is just a little bit longer, take both sides off and weigh them, then make a cradle for the 250g weight that weighs as close to the difference as possible
May 16, 2015 at 5:03 AM - bamhm182: I figure I should be able to get it VERY close
May 16, 2015 at 5:04 AM - jbigler1986: Didn't need to do that. Could have printed the weight box that I just did. Don't wanna say who made it bc they don't want credit. But you can fill it whatever you want to get the weight you want
    May 16, 2015 at 5:04 AM - bamhm182: Yeah, I suppose so, I just liked the weight's look :p
May 16, 2015 at 5:05 AM - jbigler1986: I will take a picture of what it looks like
    May 16, 2015 at 5:07 AM - bamhm182: Sonova...
May 16, 2015 at 5:07 AM - bamhm182: I was going to flash my firmware and I remembered the dog ate my USB cable last week...
May 16, 2015 at 5:09 AM - bamhm182: Well I guess I'd better break out the soldering iron
May 16, 2015 at 5:14 AM - bamhm182: Guess not, it got thrown in the trash and is now covered in melted cheese
May 16, 2015 at 5:34 AM - bamhm182: Calibrated the e-steps and set the retraction distance to 10mm, which is WAY longer than it needs to be, but I mean, hey it seems to be working
    May 16, 2015 at 6:12 AM - jbigler1986: I use 4.5mm
May 16, 2015 at 6:19 AM - bamhm182: You also have direct drive though
May 16, 2015 at 6:20 AM - bamhm182: There is a definite difference between 5mm and 10mm, but I don't know if I should attribute that to the retraction distance or to the calibration of the e-steps. I think that I'm going to print out another one of these pyramids at 5mm with the e-steps calibrated and see how that looks. Might meet it in the middle with 7.5
May 16, 2015 at 6:20 AM - bamhm182: Or I might just say screw it and go with 5 because 1/6 of a second is faster than 1/3 of a second
May 16, 2015 at 6:21 AM - bamhm182: Honestly though, I'm never printing out anything with insane gaps like this pyramid, so it probably won't really matter at all if I put it at 5
May 16, 2015 at 6:22 AM - jbigler1986: Yeah bowden you need more retraction and faster
May 16, 2015 at 6:23 AM - bamhm182: I might bump up the retraction speed
May 16, 2015 at 6:24 AM - bamhm182: What do you have yours set at?
    May 16, 2015 at 6:24 AM - bamhm182: Mine's 30mm/s
May 16, 2015 at 6:26 AM - jbigler1986: Yeah I think mine is at 40. Speed it up
May 16, 2015 at 6:28 AM - bamhm182: I just looked at my LCD, and I think the maximum speed for the esteps is 25mm/s if that's correct. I'm pretty sure it pulls it from the firmware
May 16, 2015 at 6:33 AM - jbigler1986: Don't think it does. Could be wrong though
    May 16, 2015 at 6:35 AM - bamhm182: #define DEFAULT_RETRACT_ACCELERATION 3000 // X, Y, Z and E max acceleration in mm/s^2 for retracts
    May 16, 2015 at 6:36 AM - bamhm182: That's not max though, and that's acceleration, hold on...
May 16, 2015 at 6:40 AM - bamhm182: Either way, I'll bump up the retraction speed and try again tomorrow. For now it's nearing on two hours past my bed time, so I'd better get out of here
    May 16, 2015 at 6:41 AM - jbigler1986: See ya
May 16, 2015 at 6:59 AM - Mike Glass: bed time..um its morning bam..
May 16, 2015 at 7:10 AM - Bill Monroe: back
May 16, 2015 at 7:11 AM - jbigler1986: First print with the weight looked great. Dragon wings
May 16, 2015 at 7:11 AM - Bill Monroe: im happy with mine, but it exposed that one of the switches needs adjusting... which is good too
May 16, 2015 at 7:12 AM - Bill Monroe: what didyou put in it?
    May 16, 2015 at 7:12 AM - jbigler1986: I just tossed a bunch of coins in it
May 16, 2015 at 7:12 AM - Bill Monroe: woohoo.. make it expensive!
May 16, 2015 at 7:13 AM - Bill Monroe: I have a baby food jar around here somewhere filles with lead shot that I was going to use orignally, but I couldnt find it
May 16, 2015 at 7:13 AM - Bill Monroe: might be in San Diego
    May 16, 2015 at 7:26 AM - jbigler1986: Lol
May 16, 2015 at 8:02 AM - Mike Glass: JBBBBB
    May 16, 2015 at 8:36 AM - jbigler1986: hola
    May 16, 2015 at 8:36 AM - jbigler1986: sorry. i was at soccer
May 16, 2015 at 8:38 AM - Mike Glass: aww, the life of a soccer mom..
    May 16, 2015 at 8:38 AM - jbigler1986: ha
May 16, 2015 at 8:38 AM - jbigler1986: just wait until you get your in sports
May 16, 2015 at 8:39 AM - Mike Glass: They did soccer at 3 years old think fall time this year
May 16, 2015 at 8:40 AM - jbigler1986: about to install SW on this bad boy
    May 16, 2015 at 8:40 AM - jbigler1986: see how it runs
May 16, 2015 at 8:40 AM - jbigler1986: how did that dragon turn out?
May 16, 2015 at 8:41 AM - Mike Glass: Still running, about another 30-60 min
May 16, 2015 at 8:42 AM - Mike Glass: it usally goes 1 hour past the actual build time S3d gives you
May 16, 2015 at 8:42 AM - Mike Glass: Cura is usually closer
May 16, 2015 at 8:43 AM - jbigler1986: depending on long of a print. the 60 hour one said 63 hours but ended up being 67
May 16, 2015 at 8:43 AM - Mike Glass: For speed of 60 it looks nice
May 16, 2015 at 8:44 AM - jbigler1986: i'm about to design a mount to hold my extruder
May 16, 2015 at 8:44 AM - Mike Glass: I thought you did

May 16, 2015 at 8:44 AM - jbigler1986: it's not going to mount on the case like last time
May 16, 2015 at 8:45 AM - Mike Glass: no more holes in the robo?
May 16, 2015 at 8:46 AM - jbigler1986: nope. I'm going to move my spool holder down and mount the extruder above it.
May 16, 2015 at 9:08 AM - jbigler1986: got a lot of stuff going on and this little guy is chugging along
May 16, 2015 at 9:08 AM - jbigler1986: probably gonna toss in another stick of ram today though
May 16, 2015 at 9:09 AM - jbigler1986: you should mill me a few heat blocks
May 16, 2015 at 9:12 AM - jbigler1986: how complicated of parts can you mill with that cnc?
May 16, 2015 at 9:12 AM - Bill Monroe: back
    May 16, 2015 at 9:12 AM - jbigler1986: stop leaving. lol
May 16, 2015 at 9:13 AM - Bill Monroe: :) hey, what can I say... 2.0 is romping around in the greenhouse wearing her new bikini.. my ADD kicks in...
May 16, 2015 at 9:14 AM - jbigler1986: ok so i just paper leveled. looks perfect all the way across the bed now. yay
May 16, 2015 at 9:14 AM - Bill Monroe: she's going to meet an irrigation contractor at our rental so, I can focus on my homework and printing now
May 16, 2015 at 9:15 AM - Bill Monroe: paper is a 3D printers best tool
    May 16, 2015 at 9:16 AM - jbigler1986: now to adjust offset.
May 16, 2015 at 9:17 AM - jbigler1986: working on that filament guide yet?
May 16, 2015 at 9:18 AM - Bill Monroe: not till my homework is done...., then the plane's seal is replaced
    May 16, 2015 at 9:20 AM - Bill Monroe: <-- disciplined.....................unless 2.0 is here
May 16, 2015 at 9:20 AM - jbigler1986: those would be higher priority for sure
May 16, 2015 at 9:20 AM - Bill Monroe: the homework is whooping my ass
May 16, 2015 at 9:21 AM - Bill Monroe: largely due tl listening to the BenSteinien lecture
May 16, 2015 at 9:22 AM - Bill Monroe: "x is a pointer to a.. anyone?.... anyone?... pointer to a anyone?...anyone?.. function returning a anyone? anyone?...:
    May 16, 2015 at 9:24 AM - jbigler1986: blah. SW only 31 percent complete
May 16, 2015 at 9:24 AM - jbigler1986: oh and installing the toolbox this time
May 16, 2015 at 9:25 AM - Bill Monroe: toolox is OK.. McMaster-Carr is a muey better resource
May 16, 2015 at 9:25 AM - jbigler1986: that it is. i have used it some.
May 16, 2015 at 9:26 AM - Bill Monroe: the thing to watch with toolbox is when you use it, the part file you create is kept in the toolbox's default location, not with the file for your assembly
    May 16, 2015 at 9:26 AM - jbigler1986: how dare they
May 16, 2015 at 9:27 AM - Bill Monroe: so if you want to send your assembly to someone, you MUST use pack-and-go
May 16, 2015 at 9:27 AM - Bill Monroe: you can change the deault location, but no one ever knows to do that until it's too late
May 16, 2015 at 9:27 AM - Bill Monroe: PLUS
May 16, 2015 at 9:28 AM - jbigler1986: oh and my rigged ptfe connection is pretty damn strong
May 16, 2015 at 9:29 AM - Bill Monroe: when you save the McMaster download, you'll be reminded when it asks you where you want to save it AND, it will save it under the McMaster part number (which you can add your own descirtion is you want) so you'll not have to look it up again
May 16, 2015 at 9:30 AM - jbigler1986: also i tried the weight holder last night with only 20 lines. fucking snapped like 3/4 of the way done.
May 16, 2015 at 9:30 AM - Bill Monroe: ya 35 is the magic number
    May 16, 2015 at 9:31 AM - Bill Monroe: unless your're a C++ programmer then it's const int LINES_NUMBER = 35;
May 16, 2015 at 9:31 AM - jbigler1986: i was like yeah it goin to finish. then i heard a snap. looked over and the support was on the side.
May 16, 2015 at 9:31 AM - Bill Monroe: cuz, magic numbers are forbidden :)
May 16, 2015 at 9:32 AM - Bill Monroe: heh mine jammed up in the parts fan and caused a HUGE scarry noise
May 16, 2015 at 9:34 AM - Bill Monroe: btw.. if you're putting your spool behind the printer.. the guide I'm making wont work for you..as I put mine to the left side
May 16, 2015 at 9:37 AM - Mike Glass: your left or the robo left
May 16, 2015 at 9:37 AM - Bill Monroe: your
May 16, 2015 at 9:37 AM - jbigler1986: yeah my spool holder is already behind the printer
    May 16, 2015 at 9:38 AM - Bill Monroe: I'm sorry :(
May 16, 2015 at 9:38 AM - jbigler1986: oh yeah. this shit came with mcaffee. not anymore. one of the worst crap software out there
May 16, 2015 at 9:40 AM - Bill Monroe: you may not have liked it anyway.. I kinda like to make machines that are modern but have a steam punk vibe so the goal here is to use largish pulley wheels with curved spokes... brackets with rivet heads, etc.. and to use bronzfill finished with greenish patina
May 16, 2015 at 9:58 AM - jbigler1986: do you by chance have a plate model to mount gregs wade? just wondering
May 16, 2015 at 9:59 AM - Bill Monroe: me? i dont.. I did my own extruder when I went to the darksid.. err I mean.. bowden
May 16, 2015 at 10:00 AM - jbigler1986: did you do single bowden or just straight to dual?
May 16, 2015 at 10:00 AM - Bill Monroe: mine looked steampunk..
May 16, 2015 at 10:00 AM - Bill Monroe: went direct to dual
May 16, 2015 at 10:01 AM - Bill Monroe: mirrored them and mounted to a plate bolted to the side of the case... worked awesome
    May 16, 2015 at 10:01 AM - jbigler1986: http://www.thingiverse.com/thing:805949 bam
May 16, 2015 at 10:02 AM - Bill Monroe: but the chitmera had so much backpressure...
May 16, 2015 at 10:02 AM - Bill Monroe: ok.. go away kid... dont bother me :)
May 16, 2015 at 10:02 AM - Bill Monroe: wait, you probably didnt get that refewrence since WC Fields said it
    May 16, 2015 at 10:03 AM - jbigler1986: nope
    May 16, 2015 at 10:03 AM - Bill Monroe: <sigh>
May 16, 2015 at 10:04 AM - jbigler1986: that plate should do. what do you think?
May 16, 2015 at 10:04 AM - Bill Monroe: no expereince with it.. I have no opinion
    May 16, 2015 at 10:05 AM - Bill Monroe: https://www.google.com/url?sa=i&rct...Ob2kJ37TsHafoekXpgBcduDg&ust=1431882291727777
    May 16, 2015 at 10:06 AM - jbigler1986: http://www.thingiverse.com/thing:793222 wonder how well that works
May 16, 2015 at 10:08 AM - Bill Monroe: Prusa's work fine, especially if they have to plate-style Z support.
May 16, 2015 at 10:08 AM - Bill Monroe: that belt mount is crap though
May 16, 2015 at 10:08 AM - Bill Monroe: you can tell the designer I said so :)
May 16, 2015 at 10:09 AM - jbigler1986: just talking about how the bearings are being held
May 16, 2015 at 10:09 AM - Bill Monroe: ya, no problem there
May 16, 2015 at 10:09 AM - jbigler1986: do they snap in or still need pressed
May 16, 2015 at 10:10 AM - Bill Monroe: I'd call it needing to be "pushed" in.. a press is probably not needed
May 16, 2015 at 10:11 AM - jbigler1986: makes me want to do that to a robo carriage. having to press them in not knowing if they are straight is something i don't like to deal with
May 16, 2015 at 10:12 AM - Bill Monroe: if you need a press to put them in, the hole is too small.. there's simply no need to make them that tight
    May 16, 2015 at 10:12 AM - jbigler1986: i used a c clamp last time
May 16, 2015 at 10:13 AM - Bill Monroe: mine just take some thumb pressure
    May 16, 2015 at 10:13 AM - jbigler1986: that would be nice
May 16, 2015 at 10:14 AM - Bill Monroe: do it! it's your design
May 16, 2015 at 10:14 AM - Bill Monroe: if it's too lose, you can always put a dollop of rtv or rubber cement somewhere
May 16, 2015 at 10:14 AM - jbigler1986: i used the robo carriage file. it's was to tight of a fit
May 16, 2015 at 10:15 AM - Bill Monroe: that *could* be explained by variances in machines
May 16, 2015 at 10:16 AM - Bill Monroe: but, since I've heard that from multiple sources, you have to wonder about the model's origins
May 16, 2015 at 10:16 AM - Bill Monroe: loose
    May 16, 2015 at 10:16 AM - jbigler1986: true.
May 16, 2015 at 10:17 AM - Bill Monroe: likely an excellent reason to suspect other models from the same origin
May 16, 2015 at 10:17 AM - Bill Monroe: wherever that is
May 16, 2015 at 10:18 AM - jbigler1986: need SW to finish installing before anything
May 16, 2015 at 10:18 AM - Bill Monroe: I first thought it might have come from Robo (which is still a possibility) and designed specifically for injection molding results but, they're practically welded in on my robo carriage so, I dunno...
May 16, 2015 at 10:18 AM - Bill Monroe: ok, I'll go do my homework :)
    May 16, 2015 at 10:19 AM - jbigler1986: have fun
May 16, 2015 at 10:22 AM - Mike Kelly: Hey sup
    May 16, 2015 at 10:22 AM - jbigler1986: hey there
May 16, 2015 at 10:23 AM - jbigler1986: do you have that gregs mounting plate file? i'm gonna cut out what i need from it
May 16, 2015 at 10:25 AM - Mike Glass: Hey Mike
    May 16, 2015 at 10:27 AM - jbigler1986: nevermind. i found it
    May 16, 2015 at 10:32 AM - jbigler1986: [IMG]
May 16, 2015 at 10:32 AM - jbigler1986: pulled on it with a lots of pressure. doesn't move at all
May 16, 2015 at 10:33 AM - Mike Kelly: Did you want the solidworks file?
    May 16, 2015 at 10:34 AM - jbigler1986: sure if you don't mind
May 16, 2015 at 10:34 AM - Mike Glass: is that your oiler?

May 16, 2015 at 10:56 AM - jbigler1986: oh. didn't realize it was big enough already
    May 16, 2015 at 10:57 AM - jbigler1986: nvm

May 16, 2015 at 11:07 AM - Mike Kelly: I printed a benchy last night with the bond tech at 90mm/s
    May 16, 2015 at 11:07 AM - jbigler1986: and?
    May 16, 2015 at 11:07 AM - jbigler1986: show us
May 16, 2015 at 11:08 AM - Mike Kelly: It came out decently well but there's some issues with the filament I think
May 16, 2015 at 11:09 AM - Mike Glass: Robo finally off after 5 days of continuous printing.
May 16, 2015 at 11:20 AM - jbigler1986: MK which one is the right hotend mount for the bowden v6?
    May 16, 2015 at 11:20 AM - jbigler1986: or clamp i should say
    May 16, 2015 at 11:25 AM - jbigler1986: printing the mount now

May 16, 2015 at 12:14 PM - Mike Glass: I thought you tried bowden before?
May 16, 2015 at 12:25 PM - jbigler1986: i did. Was using a printer bowden clamp that was 90% of my issue. The other 10% was it wasn't lined up right. Could have fixed that part by drilling out the hole. I was just to lazy at the time. I have everything I need now though
    May 16, 2015 at 12:25 PM - jbigler1986: [IMG]
    May 16, 2015 at 12:25 PM - jbigler1986: holy hell

May 16, 2015 at 12:35 PM - Mike Glass: now what are you making, did your part finish or mess up?
May 16, 2015 at 12:36 PM - Bill Monroe: Mike is the father of dragons
May 16, 2015 at 12:36 PM - jbigler1986: yeah. gregs wade mounting plate finished. Printing new spool holder that is shorter so i can move it down. Then place gregs wade above the spool holder

    May 16, 2015 at 12:41 PM - jbigler1986: can netfabb basic merge 2 parts
May 16, 2015 at 12:41 PM - Mike Glass: somestimes changing your shells will help
May 16, 2015 at 12:41 PM - Mike Glass: not sure about that one
May 16, 2015 at 12:41 PM - jbigler1986: no it was 2 parts that i needed to combine and i left a tiny gap
May 16, 2015 at 12:42 PM - Mike Glass: it will notice gaps and get rid of them
    May 16, 2015 at 12:44 PM - jbigler1986: lets see
May 16, 2015 at 12:45 PM - Mike Glass: hmm now what to print..lol Im all dragoned out
    May 16, 2015 at 12:46 PM - jbigler1986: lol. tower of pi
May 16, 2015 at 12:46 PM - Mike Glass: I have enough bowls
May 16, 2015 at 12:47 PM - Mike Glass: Might put on the .8 and do some tall cylinders
May 16, 2015 at 12:48 PM - Mike Glass: wish I had an 100 ohm pot so I could finish this laser
May 16, 2015 at 12:48 PM - Bill Monroe: guy at work built a rostock with a j-head.. first 3D printer ever.. first thing he tries is a tower of pi.. came out perfect
May 16, 2015 at 12:48 PM - Bill Monroe: think I can print one?? not on your life
    May 16, 2015 at 12:50 PM - jbigler1986: what

    May 16, 2015 at 12:53 PM - jbigler1986: yum
May 16, 2015 at 12:54 PM - Mike Glass: I never get strings, must be the filament
May 16, 2015 at 12:56 PM - jbigler1986: i would be amazed if you got none with the tower of pi
May 16, 2015 at 12:58 PM - Mike Kelly: http://imgur.com/a/gLQFm sorry for the delay
    May 16, 2015 at 12:59 PM - jbigler1986: not bad for 90mm
    May 16, 2015 at 12:59 PM - jbigler1986: which clamp do i need for the v6?
May 16, 2015 at 1:00 PM - Mike Kelly: hmm?
    May 16, 2015 at 1:01 PM - jbigler1986: for bowden
May 16, 2015 at 1:02 PM - Mike Kelly: i thought you had some
    May 16, 2015 at 1:02 PM - jbigler1986: i did. can't freaking find it
May 16, 2015 at 1:03 PM - jbigler1986: you know what i'm talking about right?

    May 16, 2015 at 1:04 PM - jbigler1986: that one?
May 16, 2015 at 1:05 PM - Mike Kelly: yup
May 16, 2015 at 1:06 PM - jbigler1986: i used that last time then a different part of the other half for some stupid reason
May 16, 2015 at 1:07 PM - jbigler1986: wait. can you modify it a tiny bit? it's a pain to get it on with the x axis switch. it's a super tight fit
May 16, 2015 at 1:08 PM - Bill Monroe: ya, i think it's the filament too.. got the temp down to 185 at 180 it'll jam Robo OEM blue 6 months old, never stored sealed
May 16, 2015 at 1:09 PM - jbigler1986: tower of pi with Robo OEM blue? Lol
May 16, 2015 at 1:09 PM - Mike Glass: Hey I still have some of that too Bill
May 16, 2015 at 1:09 PM - Mike Kelly: uh sure
May 16, 2015 at 1:09 PM - jbigler1986: surprised you made it that far
May 16, 2015 at 1:09 PM - Mike Glass: I actually never had an issue with it other than warping
    May 16, 2015 at 1:10 PM - jbigler1986: never opened mine

May 16, 2015 at 1:30 PM - jbigler1986: Need to put some double sided tape under the robo feet. It's righ
May 16, 2015 at 1:31 PM - jbigler1986: Very close to the edge
May 16, 2015 at 2:13 PM - bamhm182: jb, just kind of scrolling through the old messages and saw you're looking at bowden again. Make sure you oil the hell out of it
May 16, 2015 at 2:15 PM - bamhm182: I have a shotglass that is filled with vegitable oil. Right before I start a print, I'll grab a q-tip, cut it in half, dip it in, wipe off the excess on the sides of the glass, take the hotend bowden tube out and season the hot end. It works really well when I do this, but like crap when I forget
May 16, 2015 at 2:16 PM - jbigler1986: I never run an oiler. I just season it every so often
May 16, 2015 at 2:17 PM - jbigler1986: You shouldn't have to season that often. Sounds like a different issue
May 16, 2015 at 2:18 PM - bamhm182: Also, not 100% sure what you have going on in your Greg's Wade Mounting Plate picture, but I was using a ~M6 hole that I would screw the Bowden Adapter into, but that started losing its grip on the Bowden Adapter, I'm going to print another one that has a hole for an M6 nut that I can glue in place, then screw the Bowden Adapter into the metal nut
May 16, 2015 at 2:19 PM - bamhm182: Hmn... Any ideas on what else it could be?
May 16, 2015 at 2:20 PM - bamhm182: Also, I probably don't need to season half as much as I need to do the q-tip part, I've always just been doing it because I already have the oil handy and it only takes another second
May 16, 2015 at 2:20 PM - jbigler1986: Partial clog in your heatbreak? Spring tension screws to loose or to tight
May 16, 2015 at 2:24 PM - bamhm182: Heatbreak shouldn't be clogged since I JUST cleaned it out, but maybe. I wouldn't doubt the spring tension screws are set wrong. I'll look into that at lunch
May 16, 2015 at 2:38 PM - Bill Monroe: I just got my first heat break clog and I DONT want to take it out :)
    May 16, 2015 at 2:42 PM - bamhm182: It's annoying, haha
    May 16, 2015 at 2:42 PM - bamhm182: Good luck, Bill/jb, I've got to go to work
May 16, 2015 at 2:43 PM - Bill Monroe: i thought you were in the air force
    May 16, 2015 at 2:52 PM - jbigler1986: No weekends off?
May 16, 2015 at 2:53 PM - Bill Monroe: that is odd, for the airfirce
May 16, 2015 at 2:53 PM - Bill Monroe: airfarce
May 16, 2015 at 2:53 PM - Bill Monroe: close enough
May 16, 2015 at 3:02 PM - Bill Monroe: one of my sons is working right now.. in the army.. and for him it's Sunday
May 16, 2015 at 3:09 PM - jbigler1986: Is faster speed the only benefit of bowden
May 16, 2015 at 3:16 PM - Bill Monroe: there's others, I dont think they apply to a robo though
May 16, 2015 at 3:17 PM - Bill Monroe: i think the only reason on a robo to bowden is if your running duals
May 16, 2015 at 3:18 PM - Bill Monroe: the strats use them to make filament loads easy, and to protect the filaments from the evironment
May 16, 2015 at 3:20 PM - Bill Monroe: heh finally done with the lecture audio..
May 16, 2015 at 3:20 PM - jbigler1986: Yeah I just keep looking at my robo and the parts and don't think it's worth it
May 16, 2015 at 3:20 PM - Bill Monroe: now to the assignments
May 16, 2015 at 3:21 PM - jbigler1986: Poop. Well at least I have the parts to go bowden if I feel the need
May 16, 2015 at 3:30 PM - Mike Glass: Now your not going bowden..lol make up your mind son
May 16, 2015 at 3:43 PM - Bill Monroe: jb likes to fix things until they're broken
May 16, 2015 at 3:44 PM - Mike Glass: Aim High
May 16, 2015 at 3:46 PM - Bill Monroe: if you have to aim high to hit your target.. well.. your sight is wrong :)
May 16, 2015 at 3:49 PM - jbigler1986: Yeah. I can't decide. About to flip a coin. Lol. It will be an easy reverse if I do try it again
May 16, 2015 at 3:54 PM - Mike Kelly: i've got the second bond tech installed, finishing up the wiring changes to make it back into a chimera
May 16, 2015 at 4:04 PM - Droid: picked up a cheap 3D print pen today at FRY'S
    May 16, 2015 at 4:13 PM - Droid: http://www.the3dprinterguy.com/prod...lC71CCyiN7cN3I8xVSvDMsu-Gp9st6AjTgaAnVk8P8HAQ
May 16, 2015 at 4:13 PM - Droid: its identical to this but its a saxon and was 80 bucks
May 16, 2015 at 4:15 PM - Mike Kelly: cool
May 16, 2015 at 4:15 PM - Droid: thought I would give it a try fo fixing warping cracks and voids in some prints, works pretty good, would probably get better adhesion if the print was heated up a bit
May 16, 2015 at 4:16 PM - Droid: it melts abs no problem
May 16, 2015 at 4:16 PM - Droid: the nozzle i believe is ceramic
May 16, 2015 at 4:18 PM - Mike Kelly: what do you plan on using it for
May 16, 2015 at 4:18 PM - Droid: you can kinda drag the nozzle across the crack and pulse the pen to create a weld, that seems to work pretty good
May 16, 2015 at 4:19 PM - Droid: not sure other than repair work. I suck at drawing
May 16, 2015 at 4:19 PM - Droid: could probably use it to add to prints with a seperate color
May 16, 2015 at 4:20 PM - Mike Kelly: fair enough
May 16, 2015 at 4:20 PM - Droid: I just figured it was 80 bucks so what the heck
May 16, 2015 at 4:21 PM - Droid: thought I'd give the flex filament the are selling there a try too, was almost half the price of ninjaflex
    May 16, 2015 at 4:23 PM - Droid: http://gp3d.com/3d-printer-filaments/filaments/flexible.html
May 16, 2015 at 4:23 PM - Droid: feels the same as the ninja semiflex
May 16, 2015 at 4:24 PM - Mike Kelly: neat
    May 16, 2015 at 4:24 PM - Mike Kelly: i wish i had a frys
May 16, 2015 at 4:25 PM - Droid: its the only place around me that carries anything for 3d printing other than robo headquarters
May 16, 2015 at 4:25 PM - Droid: that I know off anyway
May 16, 2015 at 4:26 PM - Droid: its like a radio shack on steriods with way better prices
May 16, 2015 at 4:38 PM - Mike Glass: You should of bought a hot glue gun and printed colored glue sticks, works really nice. and would of cost you $5
May 16, 2015 at 4:49 PM - jbigler1986: Fry's is the bomb. Go there like twice a week
May 16, 2015 at 4:50 PM - Mike Glass: hmm think you could spherically 3d print just add a hotend.
May 16, 2015 at 4:51 PM - Mike Glass: I wanna fry's we dont even have a radio shack no more.
May 16, 2015 at 4:51 PM - Droid: a hot glue gun has a much larger nozzle diameter
May 16, 2015 at 4:54 PM - Mike Glass: ahh true, but all you do is put a oiler end tip on it, in fact thats what some people print with.
    May 16, 2015 at 5:35 PM - jbigler1986: I have the extruder mounted
May 16, 2015 at 5:36 PM - jbigler1986: Just need to run the wire to it
May 16, 2015 at 5:36 PM - Mike Glass: did you change your mind again?
    May 16, 2015 at 5:37 PM - jbigler1986: Yeah. Of course
May 16, 2015 at 5:37 PM - Mike Glass: haha ya goof
May 16, 2015 at 5:37 PM - Mike Kelly: i think i wired these 20 pin connectors wrong
May 16, 2015 at 5:37 PM - jbigler1986: Only taken me like 10 minutes once I have all of the parts
May 16, 2015 at 5:38 PM - Mike Glass:
May 16, 2015 at 5:38 PM - jbigler1986: I will take pics in a little bit. That sucks MK. What isn't working?
May 16, 2015 at 5:39 PM - Mike Kelly: i believe i put the pins in backwards
May 16, 2015 at 5:40 PM - Mike Kelly: so the female and male sides are wrong
    May 16, 2015 at 5:42 PM - jbigler1986: Wasn't it working though?
May 16, 2015 at 5:43 PM - Mike Kelly: yeah but i pulled it apart to do some more connectors now i can't get it back together
May 16, 2015 at 5:44 PM - Mike Kelly: so i just ordered the pin extractor tool
    May 16, 2015 at 5:45 PM - jbigler1986: Paper clip?
May 16, 2015 at 5:54 PM - Mike Glass: glue gun?
May 16, 2015 at 5:58 PM - Mike Glass: http://www.thingiverse.com/thing:8930 cool chess set
May 16, 2015 at 6:19 PM - Mike Kelly: not sure what i'd be able to do with a paper clip
May 16, 2015 at 6:19 PM - Mike Kelly: i think i need the damn tool
    May 16, 2015 at 6:20 PM - bamhm182: Hey guys
May 16, 2015 at 6:20 PM - bamhm182: I saw that chess set earlier, does look cool. I've been thinking about making a Doctor Who themed chessboard
May 16, 2015 at 6:21 PM - bamhm182: Could have some of the protagonists on one side, and the antagonists on the other
May 16, 2015 at 6:27 PM - bamhm182: Which tool did you get, MK? I need to buy one
    May 16, 2015 at 6:27 PM - Mike Kelly: http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0094MIS9U/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o01_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1
May 16, 2015 at 6:27 PM - Mike Kelly: i hope it works
May 16, 2015 at 6:27 PM - Mike Kelly: says it's for 062 so it should but you never know
May 16, 2015 at 6:27 PM - bamhm182: That's not going to work for your connectors as far as I know
    May 16, 2015 at 6:27 PM - bamhm182: I just bought one of those
May 16, 2015 at 6:28 PM - bamhm182: It works GREAT for the molex 4-pins: [IMG]
    May 16, 2015 at 6:29 PM - bamhm182: But I can't get it to work for a damn on my 8-pins: [IMG]
May 16, 2015 at 6:29 PM - bamhm182: Also tried it on other various motherboard connectors and the only ones I could get it to work was the 4-pins, it was too big to fit in anything else
    May 16, 2015 at 6:29 PM - bamhm182: http://www.amazon.com/Molex-Extract...id=1431826093&sr=8-1&keywords=molex+extractor
May 16, 2015 at 6:30 PM - bamhm182: I've been thinking about buying that, the top one is what I need, but I've also heard industrial staples work well too and you can get a billion of them for $5
May 16, 2015 at 6:30 PM - bamhm182: Considering we have 3d printers, maybe we should just buy staples and model some sort of handle for them...
May 16, 2015 at 6:35 PM - Mike Kelly: do you know the size of those 8 pin
    May 16, 2015 at 6:35 PM - bamhm182: I'll find out, one second
May 16, 2015 at 6:36 PM - bamhm182: Oh wait, the size of the pins?
May 16, 2015 at 6:36 PM - Mike Kelly: right
May 16, 2015 at 6:36 PM - bamhm182: It should be the 0.063" or whatever it is

May 16, 2015 at 6:37 PM - Mike Kelly: right
May 16, 2015 at 6:37 PM - bamhm182: I bought some 0.09x" and 0.06x" males and female, and that tool fits perfectly over the pins, but it's too big to fit in the hole
    May 16, 2015 at 6:39 PM - Mike Kelly: i see
    May 16, 2015 at 6:39 PM - Mike Kelly: we'll see i guess
May 16, 2015 at 6:41 PM - bamhm182: I apparently completely lost the tool. Trying to find it to get you more information
May 16, 2015 at 6:43 PM - Mike Kelly: bah i'm so annoyed now
May 16, 2015 at 6:43 PM - Mike Kelly: wish i could get that stupid printer running, all i need to do is plug the connector together
May 16, 2015 at 6:43 PM - bamhm182: I had a few other things I wanted to buy on Amazon, so I added 1000 industrial staples to my order. I'll keep you posted
May 16, 2015 at 6:44 PM - bamhm182: Do you have any staples around the house? Most DIY sleeving videos I watched suggested those since the official tool is insanely expensive
    May 16, 2015 at 6:44 PM - Mike Kelly: i do
May 16, 2015 at 6:45 PM - daniel871: Okay, finally printing without fucking up.
    May 16, 2015 at 6:46 PM - bamhm182:
    May 16, 2015 at 6:46 PM - bamhm182: Worth a shot
May 16, 2015 at 6:46 PM - daniel871: Dismantled the extruder, reamed the holes out a little bit because the PTFE tubing was being squeezed, put everything back together and have the tensioner bolts just barely threaded.
May 16, 2015 at 6:47 PM - daniel871: 32% thru the Aria dragon scaled up to fill the vertical limit of the printer.
May 16, 2015 at 6:48 PM - daniel871: Also drilled out the top of the input for the extruder a little so that my half-ass bowden rig will have PTFE feeding the filament and running up and about 1/4" turn on the spool when at Z-home.
May 16, 2015 at 6:48 PM - Mike Kelly: guess i need to find a paper clip
May 16, 2015 at 6:51 PM - daniel871: What would the paper clip be fore?
    May 16, 2015 at 6:51 PM - daniel871: for?
    May 16, 2015 at 6:51 PM - bamhm182: Click the last video I linked
    May 16, 2015 at 6:52 PM - daniel871: Ah.
May 16, 2015 at 6:52 PM - daniel871: So nice to have my computer back while the printer does it's own thing.
May 16, 2015 at 6:53 PM - bamhm182: So how is your bowden working so far, daniel?
    May 16, 2015 at 6:53 PM - daniel871: My half-ass bowden?
May 16, 2015 at 6:53 PM - bamhm182: I'm still getting a good bit of stringing with mine. Printing out anther hollow pyramid
    May 16, 2015 at 6:53 PM - bamhm182: Yeah, haha
May 16, 2015 at 6:54 PM - bamhm182: Doubled the retraction speed and set it to retract 5mm, so we'll see how it goes
May 16, 2015 at 6:54 PM - daniel871: Seems to have solved the problem of the filament dragging on the printer frame and putting a strain on the extruder.
May 16, 2015 at 6:55 PM - daniel871: After this dragon prints I'll swap to the SST filament again and run the Benchy program.
May 16, 2015 at 6:55 PM - bamhm182: I'm going to need to reprint the body because I had just screwed the bowden adapter directly into the plastic, which I thought was a good idea at the time for some reason, it isn't. Going to glue a nut in there and screw the adapter into the nut
May 16, 2015 at 6:55 PM - daniel871: That'll prove whether this setup will work or not in a hurry.
May 16, 2015 at 6:56 PM - daniel871: Question about the LCD controller: If I override the feed rate on the primary info screen, does flow/etc. scale with it or just motor speed on the axes?
May 16, 2015 at 6:56 PM - daniel871: Like, can I put it at 110% and everything scale up or does it just run faster without changing flow?
May 16, 2015 at 6:57 PM - Bill Monroe: it all scales up
    May 16, 2015 at 6:57 PM - bamhm182: SST filament?
May 16, 2015 at 6:57 PM - daniel871: Nope, this is just PET.
    May 16, 2015 at 6:58 PM - daniel871: Oh, Protopasta Stainless Steel.
    May 16, 2015 at 6:58 PM - bamhm182: Oh, right
    May 16, 2015 at 6:58 PM - bamhm182: While it's printing?
    May 16, 2015 at 6:58 PM - bamhm182: I have no idea, I'm assuming it doesn't scale, but I'm not sure
    May 16, 2015 at 6:58 PM - daniel871: No, the next print.
    May 16, 2015 at 6:59 PM - daniel871: Gah.
May 16, 2015 at 6:59 PM - bamhm182: Nevermind, I thought you meant something else
    May 16, 2015 at 6:59 PM - bamhm182: Yeah, everything changes
May 16, 2015 at 6:59 PM - daniel871: I think in theory it should adjust when I change it.
May 16, 2015 at 7:00 PM - bamhm182: When I was on Direct Drive, I would frequently change the % up to 150% or 200% when I was working on parts that I didn't REALLY care about the quality
May 16, 2015 at 7:00 PM - Bill Monroe: IT ALL SCALES UP
May 16, 2015 at 7:00 PM - daniel871: Everything but extruder temp. Though I shouldn't shift that much that it will matter.
May 16, 2015 at 7:00 PM - bamhm182: Right, the temps don't change, but everything that has to do with the speed does
May 16, 2015 at 7:01 PM - daniel871: (like how you have to increase the temp if you want to extrude T-glase faster, etc.)
May 16, 2015 at 7:01 PM - bamhm182: Ugh, I'm still getting a really good amount of stringing with this... I think I might just leave it at 10mm with a 60mm/s retraction rate and call it good enough
May 16, 2015 at 7:02 PM - bamhm182: Or maybe even just leave it how it is now, it's not that big of an issue
May 16, 2015 at 7:05 PM - bamhm182: Either way, I've been being lazy recently. Going to the gym for a while, I'll see you guys around
May 16, 2015 at 7:20 PM - jbigler1986: OK. This bowden setup isn't going to work. Extruder won't fit above the spool holder. Oh well
May 16, 2015 at 7:21 PM - Bill Monroe: how could it not?
    May 16, 2015 at 7:24 PM - jbigler1986: Greg's gear hits the spool
May 16, 2015 at 7:24 PM - Bill Monroe: aye
May 16, 2015 at 7:24 PM - Bill Monroe: you cant raise it just enough huh?
May 16, 2015 at 7:25 PM - jbigler1986: Not where it would be secure enough. Would have to print a part
May 16, 2015 at 7:26 PM - Bill Monroe: and your printer is probably all apart now huh?
    May 16, 2015 at 7:28 PM - jbigler1986: Yep. Lol
    May 16, 2015 at 7:29 PM - Bill Monroe: been there :)
May 16, 2015 at 7:29 PM - jbigler1986: Oh well. Back to direct I go and it will stay that way
May 16, 2015 at 7:29 PM - Bill Monroe: it will?
May 16, 2015 at 7:29 PM - Bill Monroe: you wont mind if I start a pool on that will ya?
May 16, 2015 at 7:29 PM - Mike Glass: haha, your funny
May 16, 2015 at 7:29 PM - jbigler1986: Unless I have another printer that is
    May 16, 2015 at 7:29 PM - Bill Monroe: :D
    May 16, 2015 at 7:30 PM - Mike Glass: thats 4 x today alone..haha
May 16, 2015 at 7:30 PM - Bill Monroe: ya, honestly, that's orignally why I bought the robo
    May 16, 2015 at 7:30 PM - jbigler1986: To make it bowden?
May 16, 2015 at 7:32 PM - Bill Monroe: no.. it was december and I wanted to design and make some parts without having to drive to the airport and edure the cold inside an all metal hanger :)
    May 16, 2015 at 7:32 PM - jbigler1986: Ouch
May 16, 2015 at 7:32 PM - Bill Monroe: more like Bbbbrbrrrrrrrr
May 16, 2015 at 7:32 PM - jbigler1986: Fun in the winter and summer I bet
May 16, 2015 at 7:32 PM - Bill Monroe: then, god forbid, it starts to hail
    May 16, 2015 at 7:33 PM - jbigler1986: What?? I can't hear you
May 16, 2015 at 7:33 PM - Bill Monroe: exactly
May 16, 2015 at 7:33 PM - Bill Monroe: cant even think
May 16, 2015 at 7:34 PM - Bill Monroe: then in January I got offered a MUCH bigger hanger.. insulated, 220V heat pump.. water...
May 16, 2015 at 7:34 PM - Bill Monroe: so I ended up making the parts from aluminum afterall
May 16, 2015 at 7:44 PM - jbigler1986: Have you attempted to mill your own hotend?
May 16, 2015 at 7:44 PM - jbigler1986: Seems like you have access to the required equipment
May 16, 2015 at 7:45 PM - Bill Monroe: no.. although I was attempted to rework the Chimera's heatsink
May 16, 2015 at 7:45 PM - Bill Monroe: equipment isnt the problem.. knowledege isn the problem.. time, now THATs the problem :)
May 16, 2015 at 7:47 PM - Bill Monroe: there's no doubt in my mind the heatsick is inadequate, but that's not the only problem...
May 16, 2015 at 7:47 PM - jbigler1986: I have a few mechanical engineer buddies that works at big machine show. I should see what they can come up with
    May 16, 2015 at 7:48 PM - jbigler1986: Shop not show
May 16, 2015 at 7:48 PM - Bill Monroe: i could tweak it and, if I held my tongue just right and the stars algned, it would work
    May 16, 2015 at 7:48 PM - jbigler1986: Lol
May 16, 2015 at 7:49 PM - Bill Monroe: but there's just no opertional margin.. I'd like dual that are more robust and reliable.. tweaking Chimeras is not my chosen past time
May 16, 2015 at 7:50 PM - Bill Monroe: I think that diamond setup beats the cyclops in spades, but like the cyclops, you cant do different materials
May 16, 2015 at 7:52 PM - Bill Monroe: I think I've almost talked myself into getting the Tormach lathe, and selling my Graziano
May 16, 2015 at 8:14 PM - bamhm182: jb: "back to direct I go and it will stay that way" tomorrow: "Alright, let's give this Bowden thing another try"
May 16, 2015 at 8:19 PM - Bill Monroe: fix it till it's broken!
May 16, 2015 at 8:23 PM - bamhm182: Yup, that's the plan with my robo! Haha
May 16, 2015 at 8:23 PM - bamhm182: Just about to print out the extruder body for the third time
May 16, 2015 at 8:26 PM - Shank: how many fan do you think you could hook up on the part cooling fan circuit
May 16, 2015 at 8:29 PM - Mike Kelly: that's hard to say, probably at least 4

May 16, 2015 at 8:30 PM - Shank: alright, it would be nice if i new all the open ports that i could pull power from
May 16, 2015 at 8:30 PM - Mike Kelly: ramps wiki is my bible for that
May 16, 2015 at 8:31 PM - Shank: idk why i am looking at mods when i am having problems getting wonderful prints
May 16, 2015 at 8:33 PM - bamhm182: I'm asking myself that same question, haha
May 16, 2015 at 8:33 PM - bamhm182: My prints have been acceptable by my standards, but they're not amazing
May 16, 2015 at 8:33 PM - Shank: same, i can live with them but still dont look perfect
May 16, 2015 at 8:34 PM - Mike Kelly: whats wrong with them
May 16, 2015 at 8:35 PM - Shank: let me see if i can upload a pic
May 16, 2015 at 8:36 PM - daniel871: 67% of the way through that Aria dragon without failing yet.
    May 16, 2015 at 8:36 PM - daniel871: Looks okay, too.

    May 16, 2015 at 8:38 PM - bamhm182: Daniel, nooooo!
    May 16, 2015 at 8:39 PM - bamhm182: Don't jynx yourself. :p
May 16, 2015 at 8:39 PM - Mike Kelly: what temps shank
    May 16, 2015 at 8:39 PM - Shank: 210
May 16, 2015 at 8:40 PM - Mike Kelly: i find black needs to be printed a bit colder
May 16, 2015 at 8:40 PM - Shank: i printed one at 200 and one at 210 and both look about the same
    May 16, 2015 at 8:41 PM - Mike Kelly: try 195
May 16, 2015 at 8:41 PM - Mike Glass: some black is hotter better
May 16, 2015 at 8:41 PM - Mike Glass: oh that sounded bad
May 16, 2015 at 8:41 PM - Shank: alright will do thanks
    May 16, 2015 at 8:41 PM - daniel871: [IMG]
May 16, 2015 at 8:41 PM - bamhm182: I've been printing in black at 210 without much of a problem. I was thinking that yours did look like it was too hot
    May 16, 2015 at 8:41 PM - bamhm182: Looking good, Daniel
May 16, 2015 at 8:42 PM - Mike Glass: yea sweet
May 16, 2015 at 8:42 PM - bamhm182: I just started a 2 hour print, while nowhere near yours, it'll be the longest I've printed on the Bowden setup
May 16, 2015 at 8:42 PM - daniel871: I'm liking this printing directly on the glass without any adhesive of any sort.
    May 16, 2015 at 8:42 PM - bamhm182: Wait, you didn't put ANYTHING down?
    May 16, 2015 at 8:42 PM - daniel871: Nope.
    May 16, 2015 at 8:42 PM - daniel871: This is PET though.
    May 16, 2015 at 8:42 PM - bamhm182: Ooooh, right
May 16, 2015 at 8:43 PM - Mike Glass: I dont have to with my pla I print.
    May 16, 2015 at 8:43 PM - daniel871: 260 nozzle, 80 bed.
May 16, 2015 at 8:43 PM - bamhm182: I have to. If I miss anywhere with my glue stick, it usually raises off the bed
    May 16, 2015 at 8:43 PM - bamhm182: Damn, that's hot
May 16, 2015 at 8:44 PM - daniel871: Label that came with it recommended that.
May 16, 2015 at 8:44 PM - daniel871: 250-270 nozzle range, 60-80 bed, went high on bed to hopefully keep it stuck.
May 16, 2015 at 8:45 PM - daniel871: Seems like I got a good seating of the PTFE in the hotend this time as well.
May 16, 2015 at 8:46 PM - daniel871: Tensioners *just barely* threaded may be helping with keeping it from breaking the filament in the extruder, too.
    May 16, 2015 at 8:47 PM - bamhm182: Hopefully
May 16, 2015 at 8:49 PM - bamhm182: I set my extruder to have a retraction of 7.5mm @ 60mm/s, and it seems like it waits too long before moving, but at the same time, I was doing 1mm at 30mm/s before, so it's obviously going to take longer than I'm used to...

May 16, 2015 at 9:04 PM - Mike Glass: why do you want that much retraction?
    May 16, 2015 at 9:11 PM - Mike Kelly: let's play "what's wrong with this picture" http://imgur.com/a/gLQFm
    May 16, 2015 at 9:14 PM - daniel871: Way too high on the temperature/flow?
May 16, 2015 at 9:14 PM - daniel871: Also maybe the print wasn't at high enough quality?
    May 16, 2015 at 9:15 PM - daniel871: 80% on the dragon.
May 16, 2015 at 9:16 PM - daniel871: Spool on top is rattling a little bit, but print itself seems to be going strong.
May 16, 2015 at 9:17 PM - daniel871: Huh, the mouth is actually open?
May 16, 2015 at 9:19 PM - daniel871: Very thin opening in the jaws, but it's there.
    May 16, 2015 at 9:20 PM - bamhm182: MG, I was having a ton of stringing
May 16, 2015 at 9:21 PM - bamhm182: That seemed to help it out a bit
May 16, 2015 at 9:22 PM - bamhm182: My dog is listening to and staring at my extruder whirr and spin like "The hell is that?"

May 17, 2015 at 8:49 AM - donhuevo: Are we talking about ways to mount a ptfe connector?
May 17, 2015 at 8:50 AM - Mike Kelly: basically yeah
May 17, 2015 at 8:51 AM - jbigler1986: so it would hit the hobbed bolt before it got ground?
May 17, 2015 at 8:52 AM - Mike Kelly: yeah it would like rest on the edges of the hobbed portion
May 17, 2015 at 8:52 AM - donhuevo: http://i.imgur.com/nZhvgua.jpg I considered this at one point... a 5mm heatset nut and a 5mm threaded ptfe connector

May 17, 2015 at 12:41 PM - Mike Glass: I dont like to run my carvwright just for that reason it makes crazy dust, now problem sovled, just have to design a dust adapter for it, not buying one for $80
May 17, 2015 at 12:41 PM - Mike Glass: So this has a feature that you just sweep dust right under it and it sucks it up. that is awesome

May 17, 2015 at 2:00 PM - jbigler1986: not yet. working on a part for my parents
May 17, 2015 at 2:01 PM - jbigler1986: what is a good lettering that has decent spacing
May 17, 2015 at 2:03 PM - Bill Monroe: hey, my first time..
May 17, 2015 at 2:04 PM - Bill Monroe: still get mass strings on the PI
May 17, 2015 at 2:06 PM - bamhm182: I've been trying to find the same thing, JB. All mine always come out too close together and don't print well
    May 17, 2015 at 2:07 PM - jbigler1986: hmmm

    May 17, 2015 at 2:07 PM - bamhm182: There's a handful of suggestions
May 17, 2015 at 2:12 PM - Bill Monroe: jb, using SW?
    May 17, 2015 at 2:27 PM - jbigler1986: yeah
May 17, 2015 at 2:32 PM - Bill Monroe: I use Arial. bold it.. then adjust the spaciong with the tool
May 17, 2015 at 2:32 PM - Bill Monroe: err spacing
May 17, 2015 at 2:34 PM - Bill Monroe: the bridging went way better than I thought it would
May 17, 2015 at 2:34 PM - bamhm182: Anyone have a good way of adjusting the stepper driver pot?
May 17, 2015 at 2:35 PM - Bill Monroe: got a non-metal tool to adjust with?
May 17, 2015 at 2:37 PM - bamhm182: I bought a new IR Thermometer since the one I have now is terribly inaccurate. My plan as of right now is to have it taken apart so I can see the pots while it is on, then load up some gcode that centers the x/y and raises the z up a bit, then just have all the motors move just a little bit for about 20 minutes, get the temperature reading, and try to get them to just under 50C
May 17, 2015 at 2:37 PM - bamhm182: No, but that would probably be a really good idea
May 17, 2015 at 2:37 PM - Bill Monroe: a whittled popsicle stick works in a pinch
    May 17, 2015 at 2:37 PM - bamhm182: Might print out a screwdriver
    May 17, 2015 at 2:38 PM - bamhm182: And there's a reason to buy popsicles. I like it! Haha
May 17, 2015 at 2:39 PM - Bill Monroe: oh man.. one must always have a supply of popsicles in the freezer.
    May 17, 2015 at 2:40 PM - bamhm182: Haha
May 17, 2015 at 2:41 PM - Bill Monroe: but if your a food snob or vegan or some other such foodfreak that wont do it.. you can get them at hardware and craft stores
May 17, 2015 at 2:41 PM - Bill Monroe: or dig in trashcans near food courts
May 17, 2015 at 2:42 PM - bamhm182: I'm not saying having popsicles is a bad thing, just that I don't normally buy them, but now I have even more of a reason to.
May 17, 2015 at 2:42 PM - bamhm182: Anyways, I have to get to work, I'll see you around

May 17, 2015 at 2:59 PM - Mike Glass: Hey bam you can use a metal screwdriver and hook up the meter to that when you adjust should be the positive, then just find a ground, thats how I adjusted mine

May 17, 2015 at 3:37 PM - Mike Kelly: do you hang your wrenches/plier/snip
May 17, 2015 at 3:39 PM - daniel871: It floats upright, but a little tilted forward because of the weight distribution.
May 17, 2015 at 3:39 PM - daniel871: Sorry, clicked over to FB and forgot to start a separate tab.
May 17, 2015 at 3:39 PM - daniel871: No water splashes over onto the "deck" though.
May 17, 2015 at 3:44 PM - daniel871: (Talking about the 3DBenchy floating that Mike asked about earlier)

May 17, 2015 at 5:42 PM - daniel871: Just had a print stop mid-print, but it was like a pause command was sent (with no way to say, "Hey, resume!").
May 17, 2015 at 5:42 PM - daniel871: Then found out the connection to the SD card was lost mid-print.

May 17, 2015 at 5:46 PM - Mike Glass: Not sure I have the $14 full graphics one.
May 17, 2015 at 5:46 PM - daniel871: Ah, internet is dying too, so maybe there are some power issues. Going to shut things down for the night until I can get a UPS set up.
May 17, 2015 at 5:46 PM - daniel871: (getting the "connection quality is bla bla bla" popup).
May 17, 2015 at 5:46 PM - Mike Glass: oh no
May 17, 2015 at 5:47 PM - Mike Glass: yep ups is a must
May 17, 2015 at 5:51 PM - Bill Monroe: <-- off the power grid
May 17, 2015 at 5:52 PM - Mike Glass: Nuclear?
May 17, 2015 at 5:52 PM - Bill Monroe:
    May 17, 2015 at 5:52 PM - Bill Monroe: solar/wind
May 17, 2015 at 5:55 PM - Mike Glass: haha, nice, we are thinking about it, neighbor has 6 panels and runs pretty much everything they need.
May 17, 2015 at 5:55 PM - Bill Monroe: i wonder what each panel is rated for? I have 24
May 17, 2015 at 5:56 PM - Bill Monroe: got a Yanmar diesel generatror from a yacht as a backup and when I run equipment
May 17, 2015 at 5:57 PM - Mike Glass: they dont run hair dryers on clothes dryers, mostly just a fridge and lighting, and pumps for irrigation in the summer.
May 17, 2015 at 5:59 PM - Bill Monroe: i pulled a permit to go from 100 amp service to 250.. then they told me I'd have to pay to run a line from almost a mile away.
May 17, 2015 at 5:59 PM - Bill Monroe: caused me some pause :)
May 17, 2015 at 6:01 PM - Bill Monroe: shortly after that the folx across the street decided to go wind power and pulled all their panels.. I volunteered to dispose them
May 17, 2015 at 6:02 PM - Bill Monroe: they put up a windwill on a small piece of property they owned at the peak of the hill
May 17, 2015 at 6:03 PM - Bill Monroe: when they sold the place, the new owners didnt want that property, they offered it to me for a really nice deal.. and I got the windmill :)
May 17, 2015 at 6:03 PM - Bill Monroe: new owners when back to the grid
May 17, 2015 at 6:07 PM - Mike Glass: this make no sense there 12" is the same price as the 36" http://www.amazon.com/Shop-Fox-D272...d=1431911201&sr=1-1&keywords=shop+fox+t+track
    May 17, 2015 at 6:07 PM - Mike Glass: guess im buying 4 36"
    May 17, 2015 at 6:34 PM - jbigler1986: Bill!
May 17, 2015 at 6:35 PM - jbigler1986: Trying to figure out how to add space between letters. Failing
    May 17, 2015 at 6:36 PM - jbigler1986: haha. nevermind
May 17, 2015 at 6:40 PM - Bill Monroe: sorry.. was working in another window
May 17, 2015 at 6:41 PM - Bill Monroe: which SW?
May 17, 2015 at 6:56 PM - tonycstech: Anybody knows direct drive steps value for MK7 drive gear ?
May 17, 2015 at 7:02 PM - tonycstech: MK8 is 0145.5 but i plan to try MK7 for more torque
May 17, 2015 at 7:05 PM - jbigler1986: 2015. I figured it out. It was right in front of me
May 17, 2015 at 7:10 PM - daniel871: anybody use a particular upc with the robo or can recommend a good surge protector?
May 17, 2015 at 7:11 PM - daniel871: had a print that was 94% finished come to a halt because the power flickered.
May 17, 2015 at 7:14 PM - daniel871: How many watts does the Robo pull if everything is on, anyway?
May 17, 2015 at 7:15 PM - jbigler1986: Nothing more than a mid range or high end PC
May 17, 2015 at 7:16 PM - jbigler1986: If you are worried about a power flicker like that I would suggest a backup battery so the power will still be constant during the flicker
    May 17, 2015 at 7:20 PM - jbigler1986: Where is everyone tonight
    May 17, 2015 at 7:20 PM - daniel871: something like this one? http://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B000F...wer+supply&dpPl=1&dpID=41wrQsZhufL&ref=plSrch
May 17, 2015 at 7:22 PM - daniel871: my worry is that I would set something to print, the flicker would happen and something bad would happen.
    May 17, 2015 at 7:22 PM - Bill Monroe: <-- Joshua Tree
May 17, 2015 at 7:23 PM - daniel871: I was watching when this happened and the robo stopped, but kept the nozzle temp going.
May 17, 2015 at 7:23 PM - jbigler1986: Yeah Daniel that should be fine
    May 17, 2015 at 7:23 PM - jbigler1986: I responded to your PM bill
May 17, 2015 at 7:25 PM - daniel871: needs to be a "resume interrupted print" function like you have on some cnc machines, but I dont know if the robo tracks machine location where that could work.
May 17, 2015 at 7:41 PM - Mike Glass: I think thats the one I got at costco a few years ago

May 17, 2015 10:33 PM - TechSupportGo: how to fix a file with random flipped normals
May 17, 2015 10:35 PM - bamhm182: Flipped Normals can be pretty annoying
    May 17, 2015 10:35 PM - bamhm182: How complex is the file?
May 17, 2015 10:35 PM - bamhm182: and what software are you using?
May 17, 2015 10:38 PM - TechSupportGo: fixing in netfab
May 17, 2015 10:41 PM - bamhm182: I don't know anything about netfab, I know in blender you can see the normals by click the object, pressing tab to get it into edit mode where you can see the vertices, hitting n, going to shading and clicking backface culling
May 17, 2015 10:42 PM - bamhm182: That'll turn all faces with inverted normals invisible, then you just click the vertices that make up the face, hit spacebar to open the quick launch menu and type "Flip Normals"
    May 17, 2015 10:44 PM - bamhm182: http://3daddfab.com/blog/index.php?...anually-Repair-STL-Holes,-Edges-and-More.html
    May 17, 2015 10:44 PM - bamhm182: Does that help?
    May 18, 2015 3:59 AM - jbigler1986: Morning
    May 18, 2015 4:51 AM - bamhm182: Hey jb
    May 18, 2015 5:15 AM - jbigler1986: hello
    May 18, 2015 5:15 AM - Stephen Capistron: yo
May 18, 2015 5:18 AM - jbigler1986: should have fixed my camera. vibrating like crazy bc its a little loose
May 18, 2015 5:20 AM - Stephen Capistron: sounds like an excuse to get some ninjaflex and print some vibration dampening mounts
May 18, 2015 5:20 AM - jbigler1986: Stephen, that mini pc works great. A little slow at times. Tried to throw in another stick of 2gb ram but it was the wrong kind
May 18, 2015 5:23 AM - Stephen Capistron: my workstation laptop has been slow from day 1 at work
May 18, 2015 5:23 AM - bamhm182: What are you using the mini pc for?
May 18, 2015 5:23 AM - Stephen Capistron: i chalk it up to a mystery of the universe
    May 18, 2015 5:26 AM - jbigler1986: http://www.frys.com/product/8003414?site=sr:SEARCH:MAIN_RSLT_PG
    May 18, 2015 5:26 AM - jbigler1986: thats the ram i got for it
    May 18, 2015 5:26 AM - jbigler1986: this is the pc http://www.frys.com/product/8394507?source=google&gclid=CMO1mP-jy8UCFQopaQodUFUAGA
    May 18, 2015 5:27 AM - jbigler1986: DDR3L-1333 MHz that's what it says it uses
    May 18, 2015 5:31 AM - jbigler1986: DDR3 = 1.5 Volts DDR3L = 1.35 Volts bam
    May 18, 2015 5:33 AM - Bill Monroe: mornin
    May 18, 2015 5:36 AM - jbigler1986: morning
May 18, 2015 5:37 AM - Bill Monroe: i wonder if MEK would work
May 18, 2015 5:38 AM - jbigler1986: should. i should get some since all I print is PLA
May 18, 2015 5:38 AM - jbigler1986: then it would dissolve it instead of just softening it
May 18, 2015 5:39 AM - Bill Monroe: I'll ask one of the guys in the group for an old string
May 18, 2015 5:40 AM - jbigler1986: really need to get a needle or something that size so it's more rigid
May 18, 2015 5:41 AM - jbigler1986: been printing so much you need to clean it?
May 18, 2015 5:41 AM - Bill Monroe: hmmm 2.0 probably has a sewing needle that might work
May 18, 2015 5:42 AM - Bill Monroe: i've got three that are questionable
May 18, 2015 5:42 AM - Bill Monroe: switching from pla to bronze to wood to XT and so on... i think that does it
    May 18, 2015 5:51 AM - jbigler1986: possible
May 18, 2015 5:52 AM - Bill Monroe: gah... my finger tips are so sore I cant thimk
May 18, 2015 5:55 AM - bamhm182: So I had an idea that I'm still not sure if it was a good one or a bad one
May 18, 2015 5:56 AM - Bill Monroe: transfering to the Marines?
May 18, 2015 5:56 AM - bamhm182: Just finished putting a 4-pin molex part way down my keyboard and mouse so that I could plug them and toss them aside without undoing my cable management
    May 18, 2015 5:56 AM - bamhm182: Hur hur
May 18, 2015 5:57 AM - bamhm182: I've got a pretty small desk, so my keyboard and mouse take up a pretty good portion of it, was thinking about getting a wireless mouse/keyboard, but didn't want to worry about batteries and had these molex extenders laying around
May 18, 2015 5:57 AM - Bill Monroe: i'm wireless.. no managment needed
    May 18, 2015 5:59 AM - bamhm182: That's one way to do it
May 18, 2015 6:01 AM - Bill Monroe: my ABS machine is touchscreen, as is my CNC router
    May 18, 2015 6:02 AM - jbigler1986: I haven't used a wired keyboard/mouse for years
May 18, 2015 6:03 AM - jbigler1986: batteries last a while before needing replaced. as in a few months
    May 18, 2015 6:03 AM - bamhm182: I guess that's a good point. Maybe I'll just find a good wireless mouse/keyboard
May 18, 2015 6:04 AM - bamhm182: The only problem is that I was kind of thinking about switching from m $10 mouse/keyboard combo to a gamer mouse and mechanical keyboard sooner or later, and all the good ones in that category are wired
May 18, 2015 6:05 AM - Bill Monroe: only reason I have touchscrees in because work - i get to snag the EOLs
May 18, 2015 6:05 AM - bamhm182: Wanted to see how a solution like thise goes
    May 18, 2015 6:05 AM - bamhm182: I wish we could snag EOLs
May 18, 2015 6:06 AM - bamhm182: Everything we get rid of has to be documented by what seems like no less than 30 people
May 18, 2015 6:06 AM - Bill Monroe: that cuz they got nothing to do
    May 18, 2015 6:07 AM - jbigler1986: ^
    May 18, 2015 6:07 AM - bamhm182: True
May 18, 2015 6:07 AM - bamhm182: On the other hand though, we beat our stuff into the ground, if we ever get rid of it, it's 30 years old and broken
    May 18, 2015 6:08 AM - bamhm182: *broken beyond repaid
    May 18, 2015 6:08 AM - bamhm182: *repair
    May 18, 2015 6:08 AM - Bill Monroe: there's a tanker/cargo base near me.. used to be a very active bomber/cia base
May 18, 2015 6:08 AM - JeffTheMess: good morning roboneers
May 18, 2015 6:09 AM - Bill Monroe: they're so lonely they now let civilians fly the ILS, just to have activity in the tower
    May 18, 2015 6:09 AM - Bill Monroe: Jeff
May 18, 2015 6:09 AM - JeffTheMess: how was the weekend Bill?
May 18, 2015 6:09 AM - Bill Monroe: eh still recovering.. 2.0 made it fun though.. you?
    May 18, 2015 6:11 AM - jbigler1986: ;)
May 18, 2015 6:11 AM - JeffTheMess: recovering?...pretty good, I was redesigning a grabcad file (iris) to print it out
    May 18, 2015 6:11 AM - Bill Monroe: pnumonia
    May 18, 2015 6:11 AM - jbigler1986: hip surgery
    May 18, 2015 6:11 AM - bamhm182: hah
    May 18, 2015 6:11 AM - Bill Monroe: that too :)
May 18, 2015 6:11 AM - JeffTheMess: everything okay now?
May 18, 2015 6:12 AM - Bill Monroe: ya.. the ueual coughing and stuff.. ive been gounded for the duration
    May 18, 2015 6:12 AM - jbigler1986: pnumonia is a bitch
    May 18, 2015 6:12 AM - Bill Monroe: I needed the sleep :)
May 18, 2015 6:13 AM - JeffTheMess: sucks you had your wings clipped for awhile
    May 18, 2015 6:13 AM - jbigler1986: stop getting up at 2am
    May 18, 2015 6:13 AM - Bill Monroe: i cant stop!!!
    May 18, 2015 6:13 AM - Bill Monroe: :)
May 18, 2015 6:14 AM - Bill Monroe: it's the Amish DNA in me
    May 18, 2015 6:14 AM - bamhm182: I couldn't do that
    May 18, 2015 6:14 AM - jbigler1986: 5am is early enough for me
May 18, 2015 6:14 AM - bamhm182: Earliest I can possibly get myself to wake up on purpose is around 3:30
May 18, 2015 6:15 AM - bamhm182: And the only reason I'd do that is so I can go to the gym at 4 and be at work by 6
May 18, 2015 6:15 AM - JeffTheMess: I used to wake up that early when i was in cali
May 18, 2015 6:16 AM - bamhm182: If I don't have to be in to work at 6, I'm sleeping in until around noon
    May 18, 2015 6:17 AM - jbigler1986: haven't slept past 8am for a couple years
    May 18, 2015 6:17 AM - JeffTheMess: Jeez, I can't sleep past 630
    May 18, 2015 6:17 AM - jbigler1986: ^
    May 18, 2015 6:18 AM - bamhm182: Bleck
May 18, 2015 6:18 AM - bamhm182: Well, I mean, to be fair, if I don't have work the next day, I'm probably getting drunk and staying up until 3 AM at the least
May 18, 2015 6:19 AM - Bill Monroe: ahhhh 2.0 gave me some finger cots... nice.
    May 18, 2015 6:20 AM - jbigler1986: ?

May 18, 2015 6:21 AM - JeffTheMess: does 2.0 knows you call her 2.0? lol
    May 18, 2015 6:21 AM - jbigler1986: i know what a cot it. finger cot?
May 18, 2015 6:24 AM - Bill Monroe: it looks like a tiny condom... like having surgical gloves but only on your finger(s)
May 18, 2015 6:25 AM - Bill Monroe: and ya, she knows :) she's internet shy.
May 18, 2015 6:25 AM - Bill Monroe: asked me not to use her real name

    May 18, 2015 6:26 AM - jbigler1986: is she asian? jw
May 18, 2015 6:26 AM - Bill Monroe: I only have one pic of her on the computer
May 18, 2015 6:27 AM - Bill Monroe: naw.. lots of asians around here though...
May 18, 2015 6:27 AM - jbigler1986: i picture her being asian for some reason
May 18, 2015 6:28 AM - Bill Monroe: she has freinds that have had problems with people on computers so, she wants a very low computer presence
May 18, 2015 6:29 AM - Bill Monroe: she looks pretty young for her age - insanely good genes I think...
May 18, 2015 6:29 AM - Bill Monroe: cuased her some social media probs that made her uncomfortable
May 18, 2015 6:30 AM - Bill Monroe: wiat.. lemme show the one pic I have...

May 18, 2015 6:42 AM - JeffTheMess: very nice Bill
    May 18, 2015 6:42 AM - Bill Monroe: :) i'm very lucky
May 18, 2015 6:43 AM - Bill Monroe: doesnt look mid 40s huh?
May 18, 2015 6:44 AM - bamhm182: Nope, which kind of threw me for a second considering I guessed you around mid-40s
    May 18, 2015 6:45 AM - jbigler1986: i would say low 30's
May 18, 2015 6:45 AM - bamhm182: She's like my grandma, that lady will look 20 years younger than she currently is until the day she dies
    May 18, 2015 6:45 AM - Bill Monroe: oh no.. i'm 60
    May 18, 2015 6:45 AM - jbigler1986: shhhhhhh

    May 18, 2015 6:46 AM - bamhm182: Haha
    May 18, 2015 6:49 AM - Bill Monroe: i'm really questioning how bad I want a C++ cert
May 18, 2015 6:49 AM - daniel871: Reminded me of this terrible racist joke about how asian women age. :(

    May 18, 2015 6:49 AM - daniel871: It's an image/meme
    May 18, 2015 6:49 AM - JeffTheMess: nice
    May 18, 2015 6:50 AM - bamhm182: Haha, sounds about right
May 18, 2015 6:50 AM - daniel871: I like how Menopause is like the Bam! or Pow! from the old Adam West Batman shows.
    May 18, 2015 6:51 AM - daniel871: Also I know there's a word for that but don't recall what it is.
May 18, 2015 6:51 AM - Bill Monroe: my company has 100+ asian women in production.. dunno but a lot of them have held their age quite nicelu
    May 18, 2015 6:51 AM - Bill Monroe: nicely
May 18, 2015 6:52 AM - Bill Monroe: i think the ones with american husbands
May 18, 2015 6:53 AM - bamhm182: All I know is Korea is on my "Dream Sheet" and god help me if I actually end up there, haha
May 18, 2015 6:53 AM - jbigler1986: bam did you figure out how to change the letter spacing? it's very easy
    May 18, 2015 6:53 AM - bamhm182: No, but I didn't look too deeply into it
May 18, 2015 6:53 AM - Bill Monroe: One of my sons is in Korea... coming home in 6 weeks
    May 18, 2015 6:54 AM - bamhm182: With a spouse? Haha
May 18, 2015 6:54 AM - jbigler1986: korea is good if you are single
May 18, 2015 6:55 AM - Bill Monroe: naw.. he was engaged when he went there
May 18, 2015 6:55 AM - daniel871: Is there an equivalent 3D printer program to how VCarve will work for a CNC mill (import an image and then set the thickness for extrusion/depth of view and print?
May 18, 2015 6:55 AM - daniel871: To sort of print a Laywood picture instead of mill out a picture in a piece of wood on a CNC mill?
May 18, 2015 6:56 AM - bamhm182: I think most modeling programs will do that, I know blender does
May 18, 2015 6:56 AM - daniel871: Tried using the tool in Simplify 3D and it kept generating blank STL files.
    May 18, 2015 6:56 AM - daniel871: Blender, eh?
    May 18, 2015 6:57 AM - bamhm182: Yeah, I like it because it's free
May 18, 2015 6:58 AM - daniel871: Building up a pretty good library of free software myself.
May 18, 2015 6:58 AM - JeffTheMess: Blender is great for editing stl files
May 18, 2015 6:59 AM - daniel871: Not all of them for 3D printing. Got netfabb basic & Cura before biting the bullet on S3D, now getting Blender to see about making the STL I want to try.
May 18, 2015 6:59 AM - bamhm182: I like Blender for making new things too
May 18, 2015 7:00 AM - bamhm182: I suck at complex shapes, but it makes it easy enough to make basic mechanical designs
May 18, 2015 7:00 AM - daniel871: I have access to Solidworks thru work if I want to get really fancy (like making something for printing at home on my lunch break or something).
May 18, 2015 7:01 AM - jbigler1986: if it's not complex stl tinkercad is great for editing.
May 18, 2015 7:02 AM - Bill Monroe: how many solidworks seats does your company have?
May 18, 2015 7:02 AM - JeffTheMess: yeah, I have little success with making things from scratch (just me), but it creates point and vertex lines that can make it hard to delete (for complex design)
May 18, 2015 7:02 AM - daniel871: Two. But I meant literally making something during my lunch break while at work and exporting the STL to a USB thumbdrive and then printing when I get home.
May 18, 2015 7:02 AM - Bill Monroe: ah pity
May 18, 2015 7:02 AM - JeffTheMess: you have to keep in mind you want to print the object when using blander
    May 18, 2015 7:03 AM - JeffTheMess: blender*
May 18, 2015 7:03 AM - daniel871: I figure I'll splurge on Solidworks in a few years after I save up enough money. Or just use OnShape if that pans out.
May 18, 2015 7:04 AM - Bill Monroe: above a cetain number they'll use a license server. at that point they'll give licenses to employees for home use
May 18, 2015 7:04 AM - bamhm182: I would probably keep that in mind regardless of which program I was using
    May 18, 2015 7:05 AM - jbigler1986: just bootleg it
May 18, 2015 7:05 AM - bamhm182: So I think I've decided on Arizona State Online to try and pursue my bachelors in Electronic Engineering
May 18, 2015 7:05 AM - daniel871: If I knew for a fact I could get away with it, I'd do just that jbigler.
May 18, 2015 7:06 AM - daniel871: The current version checks it's license online every time you fire it up.
May 18, 2015 7:06 AM - bamhm182: Going to be hard considering that I haven't touched math recently
    May 18, 2015 7:06 AM - bamhm182: Should be fun though
    May 18, 2015 7:06 AM - daniel871: Hey, check this out. http://3dp.rocks/lithophane/
    May 18, 2015 7:06 AM - jbigler1986: SW isn't going to hunt you down
May 18, 2015 7:06 AM - daniel871: Web app for converting an image file to a lithophane STL
    May 18, 2015 7:07 AM - jbigler1986: mixee popper is good too
    May 18, 2015 7:07 AM - daniel871: F-ing bookmarked.
May 18, 2015 7:08 AM - bamhm182: Yeah, I'm going to have to bookmark that as well
May 18, 2015 7:09 AM - bamhm182: I can't seem to get it to work with any of the pictures I'm trying, have you guys had any success?
    May 18, 2015 7:09 AM - Mike Kelly: morning
    May 18, 2015 7:09 AM - jbigler1986: with which one
    May 18, 2015 7:09 AM - jbigler1986: morning MK
    May 18, 2015 7:12 AM - bamhm182: daniel's litopane
    May 18, 2015 7:12 AM - bamhm182: *lithopane website
May 18, 2015 7:13 AM - bamhm182: So those of you with oilers, how often do you oil them?
May 18, 2015 7:13 AM - bamhm182: Is it a before every print type thing, or is it an every once in a while type deal?
May 18, 2015 7:14 AM - daniel871: I've literally never oiled the filament. All my jams were because I didn't have the E3D setup right.
May 18, 2015 7:15 AM - jbigler1986: i season. no oiler for me and i use nothing but PLA
May 18, 2015 7:15 AM - Mike Kelly: with an oiler you should be good for months
    May 18, 2015 7:15 AM - bamhm182: Alright, that's what I thought. I'm doing something wrong then
May 18, 2015 7:15 AM - jbigler1986: season once every few weeks. my jams were due to having the spring tension bolts way to tight
May 18, 2015 7:16 AM - Mike Kelly: print jammed on the rep2 last night, i think the filament wrapped over itself
    May 18, 2015 7:16 AM - jbigler1986: on the spool?
    May 18, 2015 7:17 AM - jbigler1986: wait. i thought the rep2 was at work?
May 18, 2015 7:17 AM - bamhm182: I have to keep my oiler wetter than an ocean or it starts to screw up. Tried your suggestion to loosen the tension bolts, jb, but that didn't do much
    May 18, 2015 7:17 AM - Mike Kelly: yeah
    May 18, 2015 7:17 AM - Mike Kelly: 2x is at work

    May 18, 2015 7:17 AM - jbigler1986: ah
May 18, 2015 7:17 AM - Mike Kelly: too much oil can be a bad thing as well
May 18, 2015 7:18 AM - jbigler1986: robo gods are angry with you mike
    May 18, 2015 7:19 AM - Mike Kelly: the 1.6 had a decent print
May 18, 2015 7:21 AM - Mike Glass: morning peeps
    May 18, 2015 7:22 AM - bamhm182: Hey MG
May 18, 2015 7:22 AM - jbigler1986: Damn Braydon still hasn't responded. Could say yes or not. Won't hurt my feelings if it's a no
May 18, 2015 7:22 AM - daniel871: Haha, I think I crash the webapp for the lithophanes when increasing vertices to the maximum of 10.
May 18, 2015 7:22 AM - bamhm182: I think I might switch back to Direct Drive, print off a Bowden Greg's Wade again, but this time without the oiler, and see how it works
May 18, 2015 7:23 AM - Mike Glass: Not sure why people use oilers, unless their heatbreak is cranked up. I seasoned my end once blah.
May 18, 2015 7:23 AM - daniel871: I'm contemplating converting my Robo to the Bowden feed where the Greg's Wade is mounted on the side of the printer.
May 18, 2015 7:24 AM - daniel871: How much hassle is it to re-route the stepper motor wiring to the outside of the case?
May 18, 2015 7:24 AM - Mike Glass: Why put yourself so much pain, just leave her stock and run like the wind..lol
May 18, 2015 7:24 AM - jbigler1986: I just wanted it for the looks. not print quality wise. tried twice and won't again unless i have another printer
May 18, 2015 7:25 AM - daniel871: Running like the wind is the reason I want to move it. Doesn't it run smoother without the weight of the Wade on top of the X-axis?
    May 18, 2015 7:25 AM - bamhm182: Because I've already dumped the money for a cyclops. :/
    May 18, 2015 7:25 AM - Mike Glass: Heard that before JB..lol
May 18, 2015 7:26 AM - Mike Glass: Hey MK did you see the price on those t-slots I picked up?
    May 18, 2015 7:26 AM - Mike Kelly: 8.78 holy crap
May 18, 2015 7:26 AM - jbigler1986: i have 0 issues with mine. i can run prints at 100mm/s with really good quality still
May 18, 2015 7:26 AM - Mike Kelly: i was trying to figure out how they secure in
May 18, 2015 7:27 AM - Mike Glass: you route a channel in
May 18, 2015 7:27 AM - Mike Kelly: oilers are more about preventative care
May 18, 2015 7:27 AM - Mike Kelly: looks like it has some teeth?
May 18, 2015 7:28 AM - Mike Glass: Yea for press fitt
May 18, 2015 7:28 AM - Mike Glass: just glue and press I guess
    May 18, 2015 7:28 AM - Mike Glass: for that much I got 4
May 18, 2015 7:28 AM - Mike Kelly: yeah i kinda expected a glue would be needed
May 18, 2015 7:28 AM - Mike Kelly: looks nice though
May 18, 2015 7:29 AM - Mike Glass: the 12" are the same price. o_O
    May 18, 2015 7:29 AM - Mike Kelly: that's so bizarre
    May 18, 2015 7:29 AM - Mike Kelly: maybe they're more popular
    May 18, 2015 7:29 AM - Mike Glass: I have a cutter
May 18, 2015 7:30 AM - Mike Glass: I need to make a grinder cut off stand
May 18, 2015 7:30 AM - Mike Glass: Havent found one yet that you can print
May 18, 2015 7:31 AM - Mike Kelly: someone sent me a picture yesterday of their dual chimera setup
May 18, 2015 7:31 AM - Mike Kelly: not sure why you wouldn't do dual cyclops but it was still pretty cool
    May 18, 2015 7:32 AM - jbigler1986: damn
May 18, 2015 7:32 AM - Mike Glass: so they had 4 nozzles
    May 18, 2015 7:32 AM - jbigler1986: or just go kraken
May 18, 2015 7:32 AM - Mike Glass: Most people cant deal with one.
May 18, 2015 7:33 AM - Mike Kelly: only reason i'd want that many is to play around with composite prints
    May 18, 2015 7:33 AM - jbigler1986: cyclops would be easier. still a pain i'm sure
May 18, 2015 7:34 AM - Mike Glass: Printed some of these last night [IMG]
May 18, 2015 7:35 AM - jbigler1986: i wish i had as much tinkering time as you do
    May 18, 2015 7:36 AM - Mike Kelly: think they're strong enough?
May 18, 2015 7:36 AM - Mike Kelly: yeah i love my tinkering time
May 18, 2015 7:36 AM - Mike Glass: Hell yea, at 100 % they are tough
May 18, 2015 7:36 AM - Mike Glass: JB my tinkering=Money in the pocket
May 18, 2015 7:37 AM - Mike Kelly: i need to figure out that trick
May 18, 2015 7:37 AM - bamhm182: Anyways, I've got to go check out this house I might move into, I'll see you all around
May 18, 2015 7:37 AM - Mike Glass: see ya bamhm
May 18, 2015 7:38 AM - Mike Glass: I printed the Spherebot thingy this weekend, now need to fine some cheap steppers.
May 18, 2015 7:39 AM - jbigler1986: yeah you have to much time. lol
May 18, 2015 7:40 AM - Mike Kelly: http://i.imgur.com/VDtN3pL.jpg making progress, they're all perfectly flat now and more or less the same height
May 18, 2015 7:40 AM - Mike Glass: $14 for the robo steppers, not bad deal
May 18, 2015 7:40 AM - bamhm182: spherebot? I'll have to check that out when I get back
May 18, 2015 7:40 AM - Mike Kelly: need to trim the miters a bit
    May 18, 2015 7:40 AM - Mike Glass: its like the egg-bot
May 18, 2015 7:41 AM - Mike Glass: What did you cut it with?
May 18, 2015 7:41 AM - Stephen Capistron: what did you end up doing to get the thickness right?
May 18, 2015 7:41 AM - Mike Kelly: i made the router planer
May 18, 2015 7:41 AM - Mike Kelly: figured out which one was the shortest and trimmed a tiny bit off that
May 18, 2015 7:42 AM - Mike Kelly: then kept the router height the same and did the rest
May 18, 2015 7:42 AM - Mike Kelly: i did the miters with my tablesaw
May 18, 2015 7:42 AM - Mike Kelly: next time i'll plane before mitering though
May 18, 2015 7:42 AM - Mike Glass: you must of had a very sharp bit
May 18, 2015 7:42 AM - Mike Kelly: yeah it's basically brand new
    May 18, 2015 7:43 AM - Mike Glass: expensive?
May 18, 2015 7:43 AM - Mike Kelly: came with my table
    May 18, 2015 7:43 AM - Mike Kelly: it's a dewalt 10"
May 18, 2015 7:43 AM - Mike Glass: no I meant the router bit
    May 18, 2015 7:43 AM - Mike Kelly: ohh
May 18, 2015 7:44 AM - Mike Kelly: hmm yeah it was like 20
    May 18, 2015 7:44 AM - Mike Kelly: i went for a 1-1/4"
May 18, 2015 7:44 AM - Mike Glass: thats not bad.
    May 18, 2015 7:44 AM - Mike Kelly: http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B000P4O4EE/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o05_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1
    May 18, 2015 7:44 AM - Mike Kelly: yeah wasn't terrible
May 18, 2015 7:44 AM - Mike Kelly: saved a hellova lot of time vs the 3/4" i was using at first
May 18, 2015 7:48 AM - Mike Glass: I really need to get my shopsmith done. I have some shaping bits I want to try.
May 18, 2015 7:48 AM - daniel871: Can fine threads be printed on the Robo?
May 18, 2015 7:49 AM - Mike Kelly: sure but it'll be weak
May 18, 2015 7:49 AM - daniel871: Or would it be better to just print the tap drill hole and put a helicoil in it?
May 18, 2015 7:49 AM - Mike Kelly: http://imgur.com/gallery/T0EaN6u this is a good example of what it's like inside an uncontrolled reactor
May 18, 2015 7:50 AM - jbigler1986: how fine are you talking daniel
    May 18, 2015 7:51 AM - daniel871: Like 1/8"NPT or something.
    May 18, 2015 7:51 AM - daniel871: Or 3/8-24 for a machine thread.
    May 18, 2015 7:51 AM - daniel871: M10x1.5 for fancy metric.
May 18, 2015 7:52 AM - Mike Kelly: yeah those will print fine
    May 18, 2015 7:52 AM - jbigler1986: i printed a M8 that worked really well
May 18, 2015 7:53 AM - jbigler1986: hell i printed an M4 that would have worked if I used a stronger material. But your machine needs to be well tuned for fine threads
May 18, 2015 7:53 AM - daniel871: What about printing them in nylon? Also anything particular about Taulman Bridge I need to know to print it well?
May 18, 2015 7:53 AM - Mike Glass: Any robo could do it,
May 18, 2015 7:54 AM - Mike Glass: bridge would work really well
May 18, 2015 7:54 AM - Mike Kelly: bridge is good but it still is tough at times
May 18, 2015 7:54 AM - Mike Kelly: for something small you want decent cooling time
    May 18, 2015 7:54 AM - Mike Kelly: otherwise it'll warp
May 18, 2015 7:54 AM - Mike Glass: lift and cool?
May 18, 2015 7:54 AM - Mike Kelly: a cooling fan migh help
May 18, 2015 7:55 AM - daniel871: It's currently in my bedroom with a nice ceiling fan in the middle of the room.

May 18, 2015 7:56 AM - daniel871: Also the vent for the air conditioner comes up right beside the dresser I'm printing on (currently have the vent closed out of worry about cooling too fast if printing and the A/C decides to come on).
    May 18, 2015 7:56 AM - daniel871: Closed and blocked, actually.
May 18, 2015 7:57 AM - Mike Glass: that would be bad
May 18, 2015 7:58 AM - daniel871: It's only there right now because it was slaved to the USB on my computer until the LCD was set up.
    May 18, 2015 7:58 AM - jbigler1986: PLA likes cooling
May 18, 2015 7:58 AM - daniel871: Should probably get that enclosure thing or move it to another room.
May 18, 2015 7:59 AM - Mike Glass: do you use ABS?
May 18, 2015 7:59 AM - daniel871: I was about to say that the PET and T-glase did fine with the ceiling fan running and A/C blocked, but figure Nylon would be tricky.
    May 18, 2015 7:59 AM - jbigler1986: depends what you are printing
May 18, 2015 7:59 AM - daniel871: Have not printed the first ABS thing yet.
May 18, 2015 7:59 AM - Mike Glass: I would stick to PET if you like it
May 18, 2015 7:59 AM - daniel871: Mainly because I read about the fumes being bothersome and figure if it was specifically mentioned I should avoid it.
May 18, 2015 8:00 AM - Mike Glass: specifically if you like to print large objects, ABS is not a good choice.
    May 18, 2015 8:00 AM - Mike Glass: or XT..lol
May 18, 2015 8:01 AM - daniel871: The objects I'm looking to print in Nylon are just little fittings for low-pressure tube loading applications.
May 18, 2015 8:01 AM - daniel871: with hose clamps on the outside or crimped ferrules to hold them in.
May 18, 2015 8:02 AM - Mike Glass: I have bridge, but my hex wont work, too much of a size difference and stops extruding
May 18, 2015 8:02 AM - Mike Glass: but the parts that have tried are tough as nails
May 18, 2015 8:03 AM - Mike Glass: I should try with a .5 nozzle and see what happens
May 18, 2015 8:03 AM - daniel871: Plus I'm looking to try printing with the PVA glue stick I bought. Have printed on Tape, hairspray and just the glass bed, figured I'd practice with the glue stick. Need to get to where I can print whatever I want.
May 18, 2015 8:03 AM - Mike Kelly: yeah bridge on a gluestick works very well
May 18, 2015 8:04 AM - daniel871: (and know what I need to do to do it right).
May 18, 2015 8:04 AM - daniel871: PET on a clean bed and not having to do anything is nice though.
May 18, 2015 8:04 AM - Mike Glass: Not really , I tried it and failed, best thing hands down was wood glue
May 18, 2015 8:04 AM - Mike Kelly: with bridge?
May 18, 2015 8:04 AM - Mike Glass: Yes Bridge
May 18, 2015 8:04 AM - daniel871: How hard is it to get the wood glue off the glass, though?
May 18, 2015 8:05 AM - daniel871: Also wouldn't that screw up the nozzle during the G29 bit?
May 18, 2015 8:05 AM - Mike Glass: its water based, so very easily
May 18, 2015 8:05 AM - daniel871: (no different from glue stick now that I think about it)
May 18, 2015 8:05 AM - Mike Glass: um hopefully its dry at that point
May 18, 2015 8:05 AM - daniel871: I was thinking more about the hot nozzle pressing into it.
May 18, 2015 8:05 AM - Mike Glass: I tried everyting and wood glue FTW
May 18, 2015 8:06 AM - Mike Glass: I actually heard that using wood for the bed for nylon...
May 18, 2015 8:06 AM - Mike Kelly: garolite is kinda similar
May 18, 2015 8:07 AM - Mike Glass: I need to get a plate like yours Mike
    May 18, 2015 8:07 AM - Mike Kelly: it's pretty sweet
May 18, 2015 8:07 AM - Mike Kelly: has some disadvantages but for the most part it makes printing ABS a breeze
    May 18, 2015 8:08 AM - daniel871: plate?
May 18, 2015 8:08 AM - Mike Glass: does it come off the bed easily
May 18, 2015 8:08 AM - daniel871: Oh, you mean the liners some people print on?
    May 18, 2015 8:09 AM - Mike Kelly: it's a printinz plate
May 18, 2015 8:09 AM - Mike Kelly: usually mike, especially if you get the first layer right
May 18, 2015 8:09 AM - Mike Kelly: too low can be hard on it
May 18, 2015 8:10 AM - Mike Kelly: the nice part is once you get the peal going it kinda propagates through and pops off
May 18, 2015 8:11 AM - Mike Glass: I meant removing the plate from the bed
    May 18, 2015 8:11 AM - Mike Kelly: oh
May 18, 2015 8:12 AM - Mike Kelly: their regular model has no adhesive, you just clip it on
May 18, 2015 8:12 AM - Mike Kelly: then you can bend it to pop the part off
    May 18, 2015 8:12 AM - daniel871: GeckoTek?
    May 18, 2015 8:12 AM - Mike Kelly: 3 minutes ago - Mike Kelly: it's a printinz plate
    May 18, 2015 8:13 AM - daniel871: Yeah, I was looking for an example of one. https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/geckotek3d/geckotek-3d-printer-build-plate/description
    May 18, 2015 8:13 AM - Mike Kelly: printinz.com
May 18, 2015 8:14 AM - daniel871: That one I linked listed the Robo as one they make plates for (probably why it came up in the search)
May 18, 2015 8:14 AM - Mike Kelly: yeah but they're not shipping yet
    May 18, 2015 8:15 AM - Mike Glass: $55 for a 8x10 will that fit?
    May 18, 2015 8:15 AM - daniel871: Ah.
    May 18, 2015 8:15 AM - Mike Kelly: http://printinz.com/10-x-10-254mm-x-254mm-printer-plate/
May 18, 2015 8:15 AM - Mike Kelly: you won't be able to secure it down
May 18, 2015 8:15 AM - daniel871: Was just about to ask which one to get.
May 18, 2015 8:16 AM - Mike Kelly: if you got an 11x10 you'd have a bit more surface to grip to
May 18, 2015 8:16 AM - Mike Glass: doh, yeah thats true
    May 18, 2015 8:16 AM - jbigler1986: $69 vs $3 hairspray. lol
    May 18, 2015 8:16 AM - jbigler1986: will never use abs again
May 18, 2015 8:16 AM - Mike Kelly: no one said it was the most economical solution :)
May 18, 2015 8:17 AM - Mike Kelly: i originally wanted it to use a inductive probe
May 18, 2015 8:17 AM - Mike Glass: will that work with this plate?
    May 18, 2015 8:17 AM - Mike Kelly: yes
May 18, 2015 8:17 AM - daniel871: I was thinking more about less mess for Nylon (the GeckoTek one for ABS has a video where they printed Nylon on it and got even better results).
May 18, 2015 8:18 AM - Mike Kelly: it has a copper inlay
    May 18, 2015 8:18 AM - daniel871: Not shipping for months, though.
May 18, 2015 8:18 AM - Mike Glass: effin sweet
    May 18, 2015 8:18 AM - Mike Kelly: yeah that's why it's so pricey
May 18, 2015 8:18 AM - Mike Glass: They can make custom sizes right?
    May 18, 2015 8:19 AM - Mike Kelly: totally
May 18, 2015 8:19 AM - Mike Kelly: just send him an email
May 18, 2015 8:19 AM - Mike Kelly: he seems like a nice guy
May 18, 2015 8:19 AM - Stephen Capistron: An inductive probe is very tempting
May 18, 2015 8:19 AM - Mike Glass: adds to BOM for BAP
    May 18, 2015 8:19 AM - Mike Kelly: heh
May 18, 2015 8:20 AM - Mike Kelly: BAP is never gonna exist :p
May 18, 2015 8:20 AM - daniel871: What about the UM2 plate? It's fairly close to the Robo's sizes you set in Cura.
May 18, 2015 8:20 AM - Mike Glass: My wife is gonna kill me
    May 18, 2015 8:21 AM - Wikid: morning guys
    May 18, 2015 8:21 AM - daniel871: http://printinz.com/229mm-x-257mm-printer-plate-um2/
May 18, 2015 8:21 AM - Mike Glass: Hey Wikid
    May 18, 2015 8:22 AM - daniel871: Cura settings are for a 228 x 254 area.
May 18, 2015 8:22 AM - Wikid: I am in need of some troubleshooting assistance
May 18, 2015 8:23 AM - Mike Kelly: daniel you want it to be bigger than the build area so you have a spot to grip it on
May 18, 2015 8:26 AM - Wikid: having an issue with a new PLA not wanting to stick to the part, its like it got cold I can easily just peal the entire layer off.
May 18, 2015 8:26 AM - Mike Kelly: what temps
    May 18, 2015 8:27 AM - Wikid: 60, was at 200 now at 210 no diff
    May 18, 2015 8:27 AM - Mike Kelly: try 220
May 18, 2015 8:27 AM - Mike Kelly: and slow your speeds
May 18, 2015 8:27 AM - Wikid: 60 on the bed only moving at 40
May 18, 2015 8:28 AM - Mike Glass: I have some pla I have to run at 220 or I get layer seperation
    May 18, 2015 8:28 AM - Mike Kelly: try 30
    May 18, 2015 8:28 AM - Wikid: ok
May 18, 2015 8:28 AM - Wikid: its the eSUN PLA
May 18, 2015 8:28 AM - Mike Glass: god no

May 18, 2015 8:28 AM - Wikid: that bad huh?
May 18, 2015 8:29 AM - Mike Glass: Havent heard anything good
May 18, 2015 8:29 AM - Mike Glass: JB I think tried it
May 18, 2015 8:29 AM - Wikid: I got two spools of it for free, this sounds like thats why haha
May 18, 2015 8:30 AM - Mike Glass: Could it be full of moisture?
May 18, 2015 8:30 AM - Mike Kelly: yeah might help to dehydrate it
May 18, 2015 8:31 AM - Wikid: Dunno, i have yet to deal with a filiment that had water in it so not sure on the symptoms. Its odd though on this part because it always delams a few layers into the top fill in layers. otherwise it lays down fine
May 18, 2015 8:32 AM - Mike Kelly: really hard to diagnose without pictures :)
May 18, 2015 8:33 AM - Wikid: gah so picky....

    May 18, 2015 8:34 AM - jbigler1986: esun PLA was ok
May 18, 2015 8:35 AM - Wikid: it prints like the first 8 hours just fine then goes to complete crap
May 18, 2015 8:35 AM - Mike Kelly: that looks more like under extrusion to me
May 18, 2015 8:35 AM - Mike Kelly: either the spool isn't spinning smoothly enough, needs seasoning/oiler, or needs to run hotter
May 18, 2015 8:35 AM - Wikid: I just did my extrusion calibration with this mat it was right on
May 18, 2015 8:36 AM - jbigler1986: although i havent tried to print the esun with .4 nozzle which is what i'm tuned in for. that and .25
May 18, 2015 8:36 AM - Mike Kelly: a single point of data does not paint the whole picture :)
May 18, 2015 8:36 AM - Wikid: mm I should prob re seaoson it
May 18, 2015 8:36 AM - Wikid: ill heat her up more
May 18, 2015 8:37 AM - Wikid: btw PETG worked really good in an engine compartment =P
May 18, 2015 8:37 AM - jbigler1986: also check the spring tension bolts. make sure they are not to tight
    May 18, 2015 8:38 AM - jbigler1986: ahhhhhh. damn ustream ads
May 18, 2015 8:38 AM - Mike Glass: Looks like what xt does to me when I try to print.. JUNK

May 18, 2015 8:49 AM - Mike Kelly: man he's put on a lot of weight
    May 18, 2015 8:50 AM - jbigler1986: yes he has
May 18, 2015 8:50 AM - Mike Kelly: if he doesn't already he's gonna get diabetes
May 18, 2015 8:51 AM - jbigler1986: yeah he is getting very large
May 18, 2015 8:56 AM - Mike Kelly: hey he plugged robo
May 18, 2015 8:57 AM - Mike Glass: thats what a desk job will do to you, specially if you work from home.
May 18, 2015 8:57 AM - Mike Kelly: yeah all he does these days is videos though
May 18, 2015 8:58 AM - Mike Glass: Dont think he leaves his lair, probably a fridge in there.
May 18, 2015 8:59 AM - jbigler1986: he does a bunch of video at other places
    May 18, 2015 8:59 AM - jbigler1986: events and such
May 18, 2015 9:00 AM - jbigler1986: wonder how much he actually is making from youtube
May 18, 2015 9:09 AM - Mike Kelly: probably enough to live on
May 18, 2015 9:16 AM - Mike Glass: what is the main difference between UNo and the full 2560 boards
May 18, 2015 9:16 AM - Mike Kelly: size and outputs
May 18, 2015 9:17 AM - Mike Kelly: they both use the same ATMega2560 chip afaik
May 18, 2015 9:18 AM - daniel871: Is there any way to track how hot that board is getting, or is it mainly "oops, you fucked up and killed the board!" when it happens?
    May 18, 2015 9:18 AM - Mike Kelly: uh
    May 18, 2015 9:18 AM - Mike Kelly: what
May 18, 2015 9:19 AM - daniel871: There was something in one of the Barnacules videos about needing to install a bigger fan on the bottom of the robo if you're using the LCD screen to keep it from overheating.
    May 18, 2015 9:19 AM - Mike Kelly: there is a fan
    May 18, 2015 9:19 AM - daniel871: Not sure if that's still a problem or not.
May 18, 2015 9:19 AM - Mike Kelly: that video is so out of date
    May 18, 2015 9:19 AM - Mike Kelly: it's not a problem
    May 18, 2015 9:19 AM - jbigler1986: what is this http://www.craftunique.com/craftware
May 18, 2015 9:20 AM - daniel871: Saw somebody posted a thread about that last week, jbigler. Not sure. Seems to look an awful lot like Cura to me.
May 18, 2015 9:21 AM - Mike Kelly: it's a slicing softwate with customizable support
    May 18, 2015 9:22 AM - jbigler1986: have you tried it MK
May 18, 2015 9:22 AM - Mike Glass: Its actually spyware, the nsa is behind it
    May 18, 2015 9:22 AM - jbigler1986: well i will download it 300 times then
May 18, 2015 9:23 AM - daniel871: That's no different from anything else on the internet.
May 18, 2015 9:23 AM - Mike Glass: make sure your peerblock is updated though
    May 18, 2015 9:23 AM - Mike Kelly: i haven't tried it no

    May 18, 2015 9:24 AM - jbigler1986: peerblock is always updated
May 18, 2015 9:24 AM - daniel871: I've never gotten the idea of being upset over the NSA spying on literally everybody. The vast majority of people are so boring that they'll make the agent assigned to reading reports about them want to commit suicide to alleviate said boredom.
May 18, 2015 9:24 AM - jbigler1986: yes! was waiting on some news stephen
May 18, 2015 9:26 AM - daniel871: NSA agent all "Christ, if I have to read another report about this guy just going to work and taking a dump while watching porn I'll slit my wrists right here"
May 18, 2015 9:27 AM - Mike Kelly: apathy is never the solution to a problem
May 18, 2015 9:27 AM - jbigler1986: idc about being spied on either. i'm not hiding anything (except the $3 million in the back room) shhhhh
May 18, 2015 9:28 AM - daniel871: Making up problems because somebody is deluded enough to think their life is interesting is also silly.
May 18, 2015 9:28 AM - Mike Kelly: the problem is the government is doing something illegal, just because it doesn't personally affect you doesn't mean you should give up your rights and let them violate them
May 18, 2015 9:29 AM - Mike Kelly: if the NSA was out to take peoples guns it would be a totally different story
    May 18, 2015 9:29 AM - jbigler1986: oh i think it's bullshit. just saying i don't take it personal
May 18, 2015 9:30 AM - Mike Kelly: it doesn't affect my life in any way but i still am vehemently opposed to it
    May 18, 2015 9:30 AM - daniel871: You don't actually have a constitutional right to privacy though.
May 18, 2015 9:30 AM - Mike Kelly: search and seizure
    May 18, 2015 9:30 AM - daniel871: Property.
May 18, 2015 9:31 AM - daniel871: Has nothing whatsoever to do with "Hey, what did so and so post on the internet today?"
    May 18, 2015 9:31 AM - Mike Kelly: whatever
    May 18, 2015 9:31 AM - Mike Kelly: i'm not debating this
May 18, 2015 9:31 AM - Mike Kelly: because there's nothing to debate
    May 18, 2015 9:31 AM - daniel871: Yeah, it's not a debate because it really isn't an issue.
    May 18, 2015 9:31 AM - jbigler1986: if it's something i can't personally change then i don't worry about it
May 18, 2015 9:31 AM - Mike Kelly: i'm gonna go back to my rule saying we shouldn't discuss things of political nature on here
    May 18, 2015 9:32 AM - jbigler1986: that's the way i live my life and it's pretty stress free
    May 18, 2015 9:32 AM - Mike Kelly: 3d printing is non-partisan
    May 18, 2015 9:32 AM - jbigler1986: 3doodler?
May 18, 2015 9:32 AM - Stephen Capistron: cartesian kicks a deltas ass
May 18, 2015 9:33 AM - daniel871: Except for the folks trying to illegally print auto-sears. Literally the first question I was asked when I mentioned playing with my printer this past weekend.
May 18, 2015 9:33 AM - Stephen Capistron: FDM is sooooo much better than crap SLA
    May 18, 2015 9:33 AM - daniel871: "You going to print a machinegun?"
    May 18, 2015 9:33 AM - jbigler1986: less of a mess
May 18, 2015 9:33 AM - Mike Kelly: you so wrong stephen, SLA is the future
May 18, 2015 9:33 AM - Mike Kelly: SLA knows what's best for america
May 18, 2015 9:34 AM - Stephen Capistron: i'm just kidding around. making 3d printing political you know
    May 18, 2015 9:34 AM - Mike Kelly: i was playing along
May 18, 2015 9:34 AM - Stephen Capistron: started typing before the second comment
    May 18, 2015 9:34 AM - jbigler1986: can you print bronzefill with SLA? :p
May 18, 2015 9:34 AM - daniel871: Haven't researched SLA too much. Are they just the one kind of resin or can you do multiple materials like the Robo (just a different method)?

May 18, 2015 9:35 AM - Mike Kelly: i'm not familiar with multiple materials
    May 18, 2015 9:35 AM - jbigler1986: FDM wins
May 18, 2015 9:35 AM - daniel871: Like how you've got all the different filaments for the Robo, do they have a bunch of different resin materials?
    May 18, 2015 9:36 AM - jbigler1986: i haven't seen any
May 18, 2015 9:36 AM - Stephen Capistron: AFAIK it is pretty much just one material with slight variations
May 18, 2015 9:36 AM - Mike Kelly: i don't think there's many UV reactive resins out there
May 18, 2015 9:36 AM - Mike Kelly: god i hate thingiverses messaging system
    May 18, 2015 9:37 AM - daniel871: So it's mainly a more precise print, but you're limited on materials?
May 18, 2015 9:38 AM - jbigler1986: my robo is precise enough for me
    May 18, 2015 9:38 AM - Stephen Capistron: http://www.protolabs.com/resources/additive-materials
    May 18, 2015 9:38 AM - jbigler1986: the resin is expensive too
May 18, 2015 9:39 AM - Stephen Capistron: that is a pro shops list of materials. Most (all?) SLA materials are quite stiff and can be a little brittle.
    May 18, 2015 9:39 AM - Mike Kelly: $60/L
    May 18, 2015 9:39 AM - Mike Kelly: it's not terrible
May 18, 2015 9:39 AM - Stephen Capistron: A while back someone reverse engineered the main resin and it is now a lot cheaper
May 18, 2015 9:39 AM - Stephen Capistron: it used to be outrageous though
    May 18, 2015 9:40 AM - Mike Kelly: yeah like $100/L
    May 18, 2015 9:40 AM - Mike Kelly: it'll keep coming down i think
    May 18, 2015 9:40 AM - Mike Kelly: probably get to 40/L
    May 18, 2015 9:40 AM - jbigler1986: just use bondic glue. lol
    May 18, 2015 9:40 AM - Mike Kelly: sounds cheap :p
May 18, 2015 9:42 AM - Stephen Capistron: more like that should go the other way around. buy a bottle of resin to refill the bondic
May 18, 2015 9:43 AM - Mike Kelly: i wonder if that would work
May 18, 2015 9:43 AM - Stephen Capistron: find someone with a formlabs
    May 18, 2015 9:43 AM - jbigler1986: ^
    May 18, 2015 9:44 AM - daniel871: Form1+?
    May 18, 2015 9:45 AM - Stephen Capistron: i think it would. http://forum.formlabs.com/t/resin-laser-pointer-awesome-glue/15
    May 18, 2015 9:49 AM - Mike Kelly: yeah i can't imagine it wouldn't
    May 18, 2015 9:50 AM - Stephen Capistron: http://www.amazon.com/Generic-41-LE...45&sr=8-1&keywords=Professional+UV+Inspection
May 18, 2015 9:50 AM - Stephen Capistron: ^ if you ever need to bondic a lot
May 18, 2015 9:50 AM - Mike Kelly: when you want to build an SLA house
May 18, 2015 9:51 AM - Stephen Capistron: If you want to build an SLA house just only work on sunny days
    May 18, 2015 9:52 AM - Mike Kelly: haha
May 18, 2015 10:01 AM - Mike Kelly: coworker gave me a cool idea of making the transmission covers out of clear filament
May 18, 2015 10:01 AM - Mike Kelly: might be time i test out that bendlay
    May 18, 2015 10:02 AM - jbigler1986: for?
May 18, 2015 10:03 AM - Stephen Capistron: so you can see everything
    May 18, 2015 10:03 AM - Mike Kelly: yeah
May 18, 2015 10:03 AM - Mike Kelly: too bad i don't have any XTC

    May 18, 2015 10:10 AM - Mike Kelly: isn't XT a PET
May 18, 2015 10:12 AM - Stephen Capistron: it is
May 18, 2015 10:13 AM - Mike Kelly: some peoples attitudes makes it very difficult for me to want to help them
    May 18, 2015 10:13 AM - jbigler1986: on the forum?
    May 18, 2015 10:14 AM - Mike Kelly: yeah
May 18, 2015 10:18 AM - Stephen Capistron: my favorite is the "My arm hurts a lot and i can't open this jar" Well you have a broken arm, go to the doctor and address the issue "The cap magically popped off, now I am good to go" um, you still have a broken arm though
    May 18, 2015 10:19 AM - Mike Glass: T-glase it Mike
