Aug 25, 2015 8:06 AM - Mike Glass: the belt block?
    Aug 25, 2015 8:06 AM - daniel871: [IMG]
Aug 25, 2015 8:07 AM - Mike Glass: you covered your cork
Aug 25, 2015 8:07 AM - Mike Kelly: yeah MG
Aug 25, 2015 8:07 AM - Mike Glass: does that work better?
Aug 25, 2015 8:07 AM - daniel871: Yeah. Shit kept sagging and was dragging on the Y-belt/gear.
Aug 25, 2015 8:07 AM - WheresWaldo: I have a roll of the same tape, bought it about 5 years ago, can't remember what for.
Aug 25, 2015 8:07 AM - daniel871: Keeps it off the moving parts at any rate.
    Aug 25, 2015 8:07 AM - daniel871: I have no idea about actual bed temps/whatever.
Aug 25, 2015 8:07 AM - Mike Glass: it heater duct tape right?
Aug 25, 2015 8:08 AM - daniel871: That tape is supposed to insulate though.
    Aug 25, 2015 8:08 AM - daniel871: Yeah.
    Aug 25, 2015 8:08 AM - WheresWaldo: yep
Aug 25, 2015 8:08 AM - Blake Benefield: LOL, Nice daniel, either i can't tell what i'm looking at or its so big that i can't tell what i'm looking at
Aug 25, 2015 8:08 AM - Blake Benefield: that the tape you're printing on?
    Aug 25, 2015 8:08 AM - daniel871: Oh hell no.
    Aug 25, 2015 8:08 AM - Mike Glass: yea I have a few rolls
Aug 25, 2015 8:08 AM - Mike Glass: maybe do that next time I have the bed off
Aug 25, 2015 8:08 AM - daniel871: That's to keep the cork on the bottom from sagging.
Aug 25, 2015 8:08 AM - Mike Kelly: he's looking at the bottom of the bed
Aug 25, 2015 8:09 AM - daniel871: It's a known problem for the Robo heated bed that Robo isn't doing anything about (kind of like the cracking glass)
Aug 25, 2015 8:09 AM - Mike Glass: right now robo is dead, wont extrude, or keep up.
    Aug 25, 2015 8:10 AM - Mike Kelly: huh?
    Aug 25, 2015 8:10 AM - Mike Glass: maybe time to order a V6
Aug 25, 2015 8:11 AM - daniel871: Someone was talking about the PT100 sensor for the v6 last night.
    Aug 25, 2015 8:11 AM - jbigler1986: never thought i would hear that
Aug 25, 2015 8:11 AM - Mike Glass: last 3 prints failed, hobb filled up.,heatbreak is ok though, so now im soaking the nozzle in MEK.
    Aug 25, 2015 8:11 AM - Mike Kelly: yeah RTD's are awesome
Aug 25, 2015 8:12 AM - daniel871: Should be getting the correct cable in tomorrow for connecting my android to the Robo for updating/changing the firmware. Should I post a thread about it if I'm successful?
Aug 25, 2015 8:13 AM - Mike Glass: can you run the robo from an android?
Aug 25, 2015 8:13 AM - daniel871: It's kind of a hassle to load the firmware onto the device, it has to be loaded into the folder the app is installed in and some devices make that difficult.
    Aug 25, 2015 8:13 AM - Mike Glass: I know matterkrackers does
Aug 25, 2015 8:13 AM - Blake Benefield: i had to take my hic apart to get the filament to load, the way the top is it lets the filament shift to the side rather than getting pushed out by the new
Aug 25, 2015 8:14 AM - Blake Benefield: normally I can push it out after 1 or 2 tries, but last night I messed with it for 20 minutes before I got pissed off
Aug 25, 2015 8:14 AM - daniel871: The Arduino Manager app claims it can, but not the ArduinoDroid app (the one I'm messing with).
    Aug 25, 2015 8:14 AM - jbigler1986: S3D should come out with an app
    Aug 25, 2015 8:16 AM - Mike Kelly: ^
Aug 25, 2015 8:16 AM - Mike Glass: So when you have the hotend to temp, it should be fairly easy to extrude the filament with your hand correct?
    Aug 25, 2015 8:16 AM - Mike Kelly: yeah
Aug 25, 2015 8:16 AM - Mike Kelly: you should buy some of that cleaning filament
Aug 25, 2015 8:16 AM - Mike Glass: ok, must be the nozzle then.
Aug 25, 2015 8:16 AM - Blake Benefield: yeah, I just push it through with the new filament
Aug 25, 2015 8:17 AM - Mike Glass: its kinda tough and I even have it at 250c and its hard to push through
    Aug 25, 2015 8:17 AM - Mike Kelly: hmm
Aug 25, 2015 8:17 AM - Mike Kelly: must be jammed
Aug 25, 2015 8:17 AM - Mike Glass: damn xt probably jammed in there.
Aug 25, 2015 8:17 AM - jbigler1986: i would clear the heat break too while you are at it
Aug 25, 2015 8:17 AM - JeffTheMess: give the nozzle an acetone bath
Aug 25, 2015 8:18 AM - Mike Glass: with the nozzle off it pushes through perfect
Aug 25, 2015 8:18 AM - Mike Glass: MEK jeff its pla
    Aug 25, 2015 8:18 AM - JeffTheMess: ohh
Aug 25, 2015 8:18 AM - Mike Glass: its way nastier then acetone
Aug 25, 2015 8:18 AM - jbigler1986: you can do acetone but it won't have an effect
Aug 25, 2015 8:18 AM - Mike Glass: doesnt evaporate as fast
    Aug 25, 2015 8:19 AM - jbigler1986: leave it in for 3 weeks
Aug 25, 2015 8:19 AM - Mike Glass: I have another nozzle I could put on but have to grind down the shaft, I just dont know which on is the .4..lol
Aug 25, 2015 8:19 AM - Mike Kelly: yeah acetone just kinda turns PLA rubbery
Aug 25, 2015 8:21 AM - Mike Glass: how long do you think I should leave it in there?
    Aug 25, 2015 8:21 AM - Mike Kelly: MEK? i dunno
Aug 25, 2015 8:22 AM - Mike Kelly: when i clean nozzle i soak it, then use a nylon brush to clean out the gunk every so often
Aug 25, 2015 8:22 AM - Mike Kelly: probably half a day to start
Aug 25, 2015 8:22 AM - Mike Glass: I stuck a toothpick in it right away seemed to come out ok.
    Aug 25, 2015 8:22 AM - JeffTheMess: https://www.3dhubs.com/talk/thread/something-similar-acetone-vapor-smoothing-pla
Aug 25, 2015 8:22 AM - Blake Benefield: there's no lining in the nozzle itself man. put a torch to it
Aug 25, 2015 8:23 AM - Mike Kelly: heh they link to printed solid
    Aug 25, 2015 8:23 AM - Mike Kelly: i don't think it's a good idea to torch the nozzles
Aug 25, 2015 8:23 AM - Mike Kelly: it doesn't really clean out the charred filament
Aug 25, 2015 8:23 AM - Mike Kelly: and you embrittle the brass
Aug 25, 2015 8:23 AM - Mike Glass: if 250c wont clear it out then...
Aug 25, 2015 8:25 AM - Mike Kelly: i should try polishing my pla aria
Aug 25, 2015 8:26 AM - Blake Benefield: whyssat? lol 250c is only what, like 485f? propane torch is like 1100f
Aug 25, 2015 8:27 AM - Blake Benefield: if not that you can always put the mek on a hotplate and warm it up
Aug 25, 2015 8:28 AM - Blake Benefield: not crazy heat, just heat
Aug 25, 2015 8:28 AM - Blake Benefield: it is flamable afterall
Aug 25, 2015 8:29 AM - jbigler1986: make sure to do it in an enclosed room and take deep breathes
Aug 25, 2015 8:30 AM - Blake Benefield: lol, do the opposite of that and put a fan in front of it pulling fumes away from the hot plate
    Aug 25, 2015 8:30 AM - PeterkSharma: morning
    Aug 25, 2015 8:30 AM - jbigler1986: that's no fun
Aug 25, 2015 8:31 AM - daniel871: Drop it in a bucket of MEK, set it on fire.
Aug 25, 2015 8:31 AM - PeterkSharma: Jb, in response to something you said earilier. Here is an AMA done by the ceo of robo.
    Aug 25, 2015 8:31 AM - PeterkSharma: https://www.reddit.com/r/3Dprinting...raydon_moreno_ceo_of_robo_3d_ask_me_anything/
Aug 25, 2015 8:31 AM - daniel871: Is it the same AMA I found a while back where they basically rip him to pieces?
Aug 25, 2015 8:31 AM - PeterkSharma: kinda funny, people were trollin hard
    Aug 25, 2015 8:31 AM - PeterkSharma: yeaaaa
Aug 25, 2015 8:32 AM - PeterkSharma: or the open source thing?
Aug 25, 2015 8:33 AM - Mike Kelly: Peter you'd need to email martin bondeus as he lives in sweden
Aug 25, 2015 8:34 AM - PeterkSharma: Yeah i was at a Mariners game last night when i got the info
Aug 25, 2015 8:34 AM - jbigler1986: "Your products arent cutting edge, you just built a printer based on an open source printer, and now you're going full makerbot-style. Hooray!"
    Aug 25, 2015 8:34 AM - jbigler1986: lol
Aug 25, 2015 8:34 AM - PeterkSharma: is there a name for the part?
    Aug 25, 2015 8:34 AM - Mike Kelly: no
Aug 25, 2015 8:34 AM - Mike Kelly: just tell him you want a swap in replacement for the gregs wade on the robo3d
Aug 25, 2015 8:34 AM - Mike Kelly: he'll know what you mean
Aug 25, 2015 8:35 AM - Mike Kelly: i don't think he's finished the design yet so it's not on the website yet
Aug 25, 2015 8:35 AM - Mike Kelly: but he'll come up with something i'm sure
Aug 25, 2015 8:35 AM - daniel871: Yeah, that whole AMA was pretty funny to read.
Aug 25, 2015 8:35 AM - jbigler1986: wait. peter aren't you wanting to go dual
Aug 25, 2015 8:35 AM - Mike Kelly: we take from the open source movement
Aug 25, 2015 8:35 AM - daniel871: I like the whole "And what 3D printer company do you own/run that you can comment on this?" and "Lulzbot" was the response.
    Aug 25, 2015 8:36 AM - Mike Kelly: yeah

Aug 25, 2015 8:36 AM - PeterkSharma: jb, yeah im going dual bondtech
Aug 25, 2015 8:36 AM - Mike Kelly: open source while it was convenient to them
    Aug 25, 2015 8:36 AM - PeterkSharma: with a cycliops and volcano
Aug 25, 2015 8:36 AM - Mike Kelly: until they got venture capital money and were told not to release the open source files
    Aug 25, 2015 8:36 AM - Mike Kelly: WOOPS
Aug 25, 2015 8:37 AM - daniel871: how the F is that going to work, Peter?
    Aug 25, 2015 8:37 AM - PeterkSharma: i'm going to pray
Aug 25, 2015 8:37 AM - daniel871: It'd think either dual volcanos or cyclops, not one of each.
Aug 25, 2015 8:37 AM - PeterkSharma: i might have ment chimera, i get those mixed jp all the time
Aug 25, 2015 8:38 AM - daniel871: They take the same number of extruder motors.
    Aug 25, 2015 8:38 AM - jbigler1986: ^
Aug 25, 2015 8:38 AM - daniel871: And I think the Ramps has you limited to two unless you extend things somehow.
    Aug 25, 2015 8:38 AM - Mike Kelly: muslim?
    Aug 25, 2015 8:39 AM - daniel871: I just got a really inappropriate mental image.
Aug 25, 2015 8:39 AM - PeterkSharma: i'm confused. ramps should be fine with 2 extruders and 2 nozzles
Aug 25, 2015 8:40 AM - PeterkSharma: isnt that what you have on yours jb and mk?
Aug 25, 2015 8:40 AM - daniel871: Someone shouting Allahu Ackbar and hitting the "Start Print" button shortly before the Robo explodes.
Aug 25, 2015 8:40 AM - PeterkSharma: im thinking about trying to write some code for my PI 2 to make it a printer.
    Aug 25, 2015 8:41 AM - Mike Kelly: there's a pi printer out there
Aug 25, 2015 8:41 AM - daniel871: The cyclops and chimera each require 2 extruder motors. You can't put the volcano on at the same time as either of them.
Aug 25, 2015 8:41 AM - daniel871: Now I'm wondering how the hell the Kraken could possibly work.
Aug 25, 2015 8:41 AM - PeterkSharma: i was under the impression you could because the volcano is just a different heater block
Aug 25, 2015 8:41 AM - Mike Glass: think he was trying to say 2 v6 with volcanoes
Aug 25, 2015 8:42 AM - PeterkSharma: Naw, I was watching Toms video and he was saing the Volcano will work on any e3d hot end
    Aug 25, 2015 8:42 AM - Mike Glass: true
Aug 25, 2015 8:42 AM - Mike Glass: but would be spendy if you put those on the chimera
Aug 25, 2015 8:42 AM - Mike Kelly: you can use 2 volcanos in the chimera arrangement
    Aug 25, 2015 8:42 AM - Mike Kelly: can't use a volcano and v6 ghough
    Aug 25, 2015 8:43 AM - PeterkSharma: i already have one
Aug 25, 2015 8:43 AM - Mike Glass: I thought the volcano was made for the V6
Aug 25, 2015 8:43 AM - Mike Kelly: it is
Aug 25, 2015 8:43 AM - Mike Kelly: but you can use it in the chimera
Aug 25, 2015 8:44 AM - Mike Glass: you just siad cant use a volcano
Aug 25, 2015 8:44 AM - Mike Glass: confused me
Aug 25, 2015 8:44 AM - PeterkSharma: im confused to....
Aug 25, 2015 8:44 AM - daniel871: It read like he was saying a Cyclops *and* a Volcano at the same time.
Aug 25, 2015 8:44 AM - PeterkSharma: im just going to go for it
    Aug 25, 2015 8:45 AM - Mike Kelly: you can use 2x volcano's or 2x v6 heater blocks, but you can't use 1x volcano and 1x v6
Aug 25, 2015 8:45 AM - Mike Kelly: on the chilops heatsink
Aug 25, 2015 8:45 AM - PeterkSharma: yeah gotcha. yeah different heights
Aug 25, 2015 8:46 AM - daniel871: Do you think your V2 carriage could handle if if the volcano was on long enough adjustment screws/springs?
Aug 25, 2015 8:46 AM - Mike Glass: you can put a volcano on the cyclops right?
Aug 25, 2015 8:47 AM - daniel871: I thought the cyclops was one big melt zone with two inlets.
Aug 25, 2015 8:47 AM - jbigler1986: so you are trying to run dual direct drive bondtechs?
    Aug 25, 2015 8:47 AM - daniel871: And one nozzle.
    Aug 25, 2015 8:47 AM - Mike Kelly: no
Aug 25, 2015 8:47 AM - Mike Kelly: the cyclops has a custom nozzle
Aug 25, 2015 8:48 AM - Mike Glass: gotcha, but could put a bigger heater in correct?
    Aug 25, 2015 8:48 AM - Mike Kelly: what
Aug 25, 2015 8:49 AM - Mike Glass: in the cyclops, or does it have the biggest on in it?
Aug 25, 2015 8:49 AM - Mike Kelly: when i got mine they included a 40W but now they're using a 25W for some reason
Aug 25, 2015 8:49 AM - Mike Kelly: you could probably fit 2 heaters in it though
    Aug 25, 2015 8:50 AM - Mike Glass: strange
    Aug 25, 2015 8:50 AM - Mike Kelly: 40W is kinda a lot
Aug 25, 2015 8:51 AM - Mike Glass: yea it is
Aug 25, 2015 8:53 AM - Mike Glass: I should just order a v6 and get it over with.
Aug 25, 2015 8:54 AM - jbigler1986: peter are you trying to go dual bondtech?
    Aug 25, 2015 8:54 AM - Mike Kelly: you'll like it
Aug 25, 2015 8:58 AM - daniel871: Swapped the 40w heaters out for 30w heaters and things are running a little better.
    Aug 25, 2015 9:01 AM - jbigler1986: must have been a bad one
Aug 25, 2015 9:04 AM - Mike Glass: what id ptfe tubbing did you get jb
    Aug 25, 2015 9:04 AM - jbigler1986: 2mm
    Aug 25, 2015 9:05 AM - jbigler1986: i wish there were like 2.25 ID ones out there
    Aug 25, 2015 9:06 AM - jbigler1986: or like 2.1
Aug 25, 2015 9:07 AM - jbigler1986: then you wouldn't have to worry about a drive gear cutting into the filament creating to much friction
Aug 25, 2015 9:08 AM - Mike Kelly: might have been a 24v heater, what was the resistance on it
    Aug 25, 2015 9:08 AM - Mike Kelly: https://www.youmagine.com/designs/saintflint-extruder so who's gonna make this?
    Aug 25, 2015 9:09 AM - jbigler1986: i don't even know how it works
    Aug 25, 2015 9:09 AM - Mike Glass: guess I will
Aug 25, 2015 9:09 AM - Mike Kelly: it pushes the filament from both sides of the hobb
Aug 25, 2015 9:09 AM - Mike Kelly: hence why it does a double back
    Aug 25, 2015 9:10 AM - jbigler1986: now i get it. i was confused as hell
Aug 25, 2015 9:10 AM - Mike Glass: I think I have everyting to make it
    Aug 25, 2015 9:10 AM - jbigler1986: his drive gear is weird
Aug 25, 2015 9:10 AM - Mike Glass: its a bic wheel form a lighter
    Aug 25, 2015 9:10 AM - Mike Glass: from
    Aug 25, 2015 9:11 AM - jbigler1986: no geared stepper
Aug 25, 2015 9:11 AM - PeterkSharma: jb yeah dual bondtech
    Aug 25, 2015 9:11 AM - JeffTheMess: no video?
Aug 25, 2015 9:11 AM - PeterkSharma: currently i have a greg wade so im thinking i might need to do a bowden swap
Aug 25, 2015 9:12 AM - Mike Glass: yea have a bunch of those now.
Aug 25, 2015 9:12 AM - jbigler1986: that moment when your plastic fork breaks when you are eating
    Aug 25, 2015 9:12 AM - PeterkSharma: :)
Aug 25, 2015 9:12 AM - PeterkSharma: good think you have a printer at work to amek forks now
Aug 25, 2015 9:13 AM - jbigler1986: would be faster to grab one from downstairs
Aug 25, 2015 9:14 AM - PeterkSharma: is there the OS for the rasberry pi printer out there?
Aug 25, 2015 9:14 AM - jbigler1986: also dual direct drive bondtechs i would not do
Aug 25, 2015 9:15 AM - PeterkSharma: yeah, im knida worried about size weight ect
Aug 25, 2015 9:15 AM - PeterkSharma: i might go one and one, just to see how it goes
    Aug 25, 2015 9:15 AM - Mike Kelly: haha
Aug 25, 2015 9:15 AM - PeterkSharma: i can always sawp to dual bowden later
Aug 25, 2015 9:15 AM - PeterkSharma: im kinda curious to see how much my print will speed up with all this.
Aug 25, 2015 9:16 AM - Blake Benefield: I did make 1 observation about the robo last night... The filament holder sucks... Badly
    Aug 25, 2015 9:16 AM - donhuevo: buenos tardes
Aug 25, 2015 9:16 AM - PeterkSharma: prints that im wanting to do currently are like 20 horus with a .8 nozzle
    Aug 25, 2015 9:16 AM - PeterkSharma: buenos noches
Aug 25, 2015 9:16 AM - jbigler1986: well if you are still having one direct drive your speed won't increase
Aug 25, 2015 9:16 AM - PeterkSharma: ah, sounds like a dual bowden for me
Aug 25, 2015 9:17 AM - jbigler1986: yeah the stock spool holder does suck
    Aug 25, 2015 9:17 AM - jbigler1986: hola amigo

    Aug 25, 2015 9:18 AM - PeterkSharma: their
    Aug 25, 2015 9:18 AM - jbigler1986: you saw mine
    Aug 25, 2015 9:18 AM - PeterkSharma: i have?
Aug 25, 2015 9:19 AM - jbigler1986: spools and extruders on the side
    Aug 25, 2015 9:19 AM - jbigler1986: 1 on each side
    Aug 25, 2015 9:19 AM - PeterkSharma: oh yea i kinda remeber
Aug 25, 2015 9:19 AM - donhuevo: you saw mine too
    Aug 25, 2015 9:19 AM - donhuevo: last night
Aug 25, 2015 9:19 AM - PeterkSharma: just recently stopped smoking pot. so anything pre 2 weeks ago i donyt really remeber
Aug 25, 2015 9:19 AM - PeterkSharma: i rmebere yours don. looking for a close up shot

Aug 25, 2015 9:21 AM - PeterkSharma: do you have to order the ptfe?
Aug 25, 2015 9:21 AM - PeterkSharma: anyone know of a bowden swap kit?
    Aug 25, 2015 9:22 AM - donhuevo: que?
Aug 25, 2015 9:22 AM - Mike Kelly: MH may have actually done something useful for once: https://www.matterhackers.com/articles/retraction-just-say-no-to-oozing
    Aug 25, 2015 9:24 AM - donhuevo: swap kit?

Aug 25, 2015 9:27 AM - jbigler1986: There is not kit. Its something you will have to play around with and get right
Aug 25, 2015 9:31 AM - PeterkSharma: k, im not going to mess with it until october
Aug 25, 2015 9:31 AM - PeterkSharma: robo is going to the GF's house today for a while
Aug 25, 2015 9:31 AM - PeterkSharma: packing is coming along nicely
Aug 25, 2015 9:32 AM - donhuevo: kitchen all done?
    Aug 25, 2015 9:32 AM - PeterkSharma: yeah,
Aug 25, 2015 9:33 AM - PeterkSharma: just figuring out what to do with the food. going to try and eat it all by friday
Aug 25, 2015 9:33 AM - PeterkSharma: today is just going through and testing a lot of my electronics shit and seeing what i want to deal with or get rid of
Aug 25, 2015 9:34 AM - PeterkSharma: i haveradar thyratons lying around so it dont want someone helping accidentaly breaking a tube with some bad gas in it and having to evacuate for 4 days...
Aug 25, 2015 9:35 AM - PeterkSharma: taking my time
Aug 25, 2015 9:40 AM - Mike Glass: filament if flowing mucho better now.
Aug 25, 2015 9:41 AM - PeterkSharma: what did you do
Aug 25, 2015 9:43 AM - Mike Glass: cleaned it out with mek and seasoned it.
    Aug 25, 2015 9:43 AM - JeffTheMess: nice
Aug 25, 2015 9:44 AM - Mike Kelly: good to hear
Aug 25, 2015 9:45 AM - Mike Glass: was xt stuck in it.
Aug 25, 2015 9:49 AM - JeffTheMess: xt is not your friend sir
Aug 25, 2015 9:50 AM - Mike Glass: at least the roll I have, im sure its good stuff.
Aug 25, 2015 9:50 AM - daniel871: It sticks way too hard to the PEI sheet, lol.
Aug 25, 2015 9:58 AM - Mike Glass: imagine what it does to your nozzle..heh
Aug 25, 2015 9:59 AM - daniel871: The pink ABS I started last night seemed to be extruding all right when I went to bed.
Aug 25, 2015 10:00 AM - daniel871: Had to just go straight to work instead of detouring by the shop to check on it this morning though. Now I bet I'll see a big indestructible bird nest when I come home. :(
Aug 25, 2015 10:00 AM - Mike Glass: mine was working fine on slower speeds, but when I do 80mm thats where it was having problems keeping up.
Aug 25, 2015 10:01 AM - daniel871: Like Cthulu tried to manifest via a Pepto Bismol bottle.
    Aug 25, 2015 10:01 AM - jbigler1986: http://www.3ders.org//articles/2015...-for-coating-bitter-pills-with-chocolate.html pretty cool
Aug 25, 2015 10:04 AM - Mike Glass: dont you have a stream for your robo dan?
    Aug 25, 2015 10:04 AM - jbigler1986: https://www.inventables.com/technologies/x-carve?gclid=CIml3bvcxMcCFYQ-aQodPZMI8Q
Aug 25, 2015 10:05 AM - Mike Glass: you can build an x-carve replica for way cheaper
    Aug 25, 2015 10:06 AM - Mike Glass: http://www.openbuilds.com/
    Aug 25, 2015 10:07 AM - daniel871: No, MK.
    Aug 25, 2015 10:07 AM - daniel871: MK, rather.
    Aug 25, 2015 10:07 AM - daniel871: Damnit.
    Aug 25, 2015 10:07 AM - daniel871: MG.
Aug 25, 2015 10:07 AM - daniel871: Stupid medicine is fucking me up.
Aug 25, 2015 10:07 AM - daniel871: ANYWAY. No, no camera/stream. Turns out rural DSL can't support it and the location in the shop interferes with WiFi signals for some reason.
Aug 25, 2015 10:08 AM - daniel871: The shop is basically a dead zone for cell phones/anything wireless.
Aug 25, 2015 10:10 AM - Mike Glass: well I wanna see the pink monster when its done.
    Aug 25, 2015 10:10 AM - daniel871: That's what she said.
    Aug 25, 2015 10:11 AM - daniel871: Has anyone used the PT100 sensors on E3D hotends?
Aug 25, 2015 10:12 AM - daniel871: I'm wondering how huge a pain in the ass it is to get those to work.
Aug 25, 2015 10:12 AM - daniel871: May get a couple the next time the Robo breaks.
Aug 25, 2015 10:12 AM - Mike Kelly: seems really easy
Aug 25, 2015 10:13 AM - Mike Kelly: want me to ask sanjay anything specific?
Aug 25, 2015 10:13 AM - daniel871: I'm mainly wondering about the firmware end of things and the wiring that runs to the Ramps.
Aug 25, 2015 10:13 AM - daniel871: The actual hotend installation looks pretty straightforward.
Aug 25, 2015 10:14 AM - daniel871: Also does that circuit panel just float in space or do you mount it somewhere in the bottom of the printer or what.
Aug 25, 2015 10:15 AM - Mike Kelly: yeah you just mount it somewhere
Aug 25, 2015 10:16 AM - Mike Kelly: "Point pins.h to the analogue pin it's connected to And select the PT100 Ultimaker option in configuration.h"
Aug 25, 2015 10:18 AM - daniel871: Robo's version of the firmware doesn't have that listed in the thermistor list.
Aug 25, 2015 10:18 AM - daniel871: Or is that literally in a completely different area.
    Aug 25, 2015 10:19 AM - daniel871: Or would it just be #7 - Ultimaker and that's it.
Aug 25, 2015 10:23 AM - Mike Kelly: he says it needs a newer marlin
Aug 25, 2015 10:23 AM - Mike Kelly: "Or at the very least to copypaste the newer marlin temptable into the older fw"
    Aug 25, 2015 10:23 AM - daniel871: Hang on, there's this "// 147 is Pt100 with 4k7 pullup // 110 is Pt100 with 1k pullup (non standard)"
Aug 25, 2015 10:24 AM - daniel871: I was screwing up a minute ago and looking at the motherboard list and not the thermistor list.
Aug 25, 2015 10:26 AM - Mike Kelly: who wants to see what the hexagon nozzle profile looks like?
    Aug 25, 2015 10:26 AM - Mike Kelly: [IMG]
Aug 25, 2015 10:26 AM - Mike Kelly: pulled the filament out at like 90C, everything came with it
    Aug 25, 2015 10:27 AM - JeffTheMess: pic big enough Mike :)
Aug 25, 2015 10:27 AM - daniel871: Also I found that heater max temp for tool 1 was at 215 for some dumbass reason. That may be the problem.
Aug 25, 2015 10:29 AM - daniel871: So I'll (try to) update the firmware tomorrow evening with the ArduinoDroid app and my phone when the cable comes in tomorrow. And then we'll see if it fixes things until something else breaks.
Aug 25, 2015 10:30 AM - jbigler1986: how did you manage to pull that out at 90c without the filament breaking
Aug 25, 2015 10:31 AM - daniel871: Also I'm a little aggravated at that nice looking XT print (at least as far as the shape goes) breaking like it did when removing it from the bed.
Aug 25, 2015 10:32 AM - Mike Glass: must be well seasoned
Aug 25, 2015 10:32 AM - PeterkSharma: anyone know for sure if the lead screws are shipping for sure today?
Aug 25, 2015 10:32 AM - Mike Glass: it broke dan?
Aug 25, 2015 10:33 AM - Mike Glass: That is what Harry told me the other day
Aug 25, 2015 10:33 AM - daniel871: Yeah, a section of the middle portion of the bottom layers came off while the rest of the print was coming up.
Aug 25, 2015 10:33 AM - PeterkSharma: yeah i was talking to him last night around midnight and he was going to check it out
Aug 25, 2015 10:33 AM - PeterkSharma: someone say he had twitter?
Aug 25, 2015 10:34 AM - daniel871: It's aggravating because the rest of the print looked pretty good.
Aug 25, 2015 10:35 AM - daniel871: .2 layer height per the email instructions, but still.
    Aug 25, 2015 10:35 AM - jbigler1986: yeah he has twitter
Aug 25, 2015 10:35 AM - PeterkSharma: whats his twitter handle
Aug 25, 2015 10:35 AM - Mike Kelly: Harry thought the screws were in but jerry was saying tomorrow last week so lemme find out
Aug 25, 2015 10:39 AM - Mike Kelly: the shipment is in LA, will be delivered today or tomorrow
Aug 25, 2015 10:39 AM - Mike Kelly: then sorting
Aug 25, 2015 10:40 AM - jbigler1986: just search "Harry Robo 3D" you will find it

    Aug 25, 2015 11:09 AM - daniel871: No safety glasses. For shame.
    Aug 25, 2015 11:09 AM - Mike Kelly: that's a crazy joint
Aug 25, 2015 11:09 AM - daniel871: You see it in some particularly large attic joints sometimes.
Aug 25, 2015 11:10 AM - daniel871: Though it usually has some metal support plates as well as that wood joint.
    Aug 25, 2015 11:10 AM - daniel871: And now I can't remember the term for it.
Aug 25, 2015 11:10 AM - Mike Kelly: i don't think i have the patience for all wood jointery
    Aug 25, 2015 11:10 AM - JeffTheMess: that a solid joint
Aug 25, 2015 11:16 AM - daniel871: In nerdy video game stuff, this:

Aug 25, 2015 11:17 AM - jbigler1986: that is some precise wood working there
    Aug 25, 2015 11:17 AM - daniel871: I kept waiting for someone's fingers to get pinched.
Aug 25, 2015 11:23 AM - PeterkSharma: MK you should check out when they put 2 dovetail on each side of the board so it's 8 dove tails for 1 joint
Aug 25, 2015 11:24 AM - Mike Kelly: good lord
Aug 25, 2015 11:27 AM - PeterkSharma: Can't find the exact one but this is the simple version
    Aug 25, 2015 11:27 AM - PeterkSharma:
    Aug 25, 2015 11:31 AM - Mike Kelly: i don't even understand how you'd make that
    Aug 25, 2015 11:34 AM - PeterkSharma: its 3d printed!
Aug 25, 2015 11:34 AM - PeterkSharma: naw im just kidding. i have no idea
Aug 25, 2015 11:35 AM - PeterkSharma: it slides in at a 45. so those dovetails are actually rails that are parallel or something. Thats the way one video shoed it
Aug 25, 2015 11:50 AM - PeterkSharma: MK just heard from Martin. He said he hasnt worked on it at all.
    Aug 25, 2015 11:50 AM - daniel871: Well there you go.
Aug 25, 2015 11:51 AM - Mike Kelly: well tell him to ;)

Aug 25, 2015 11:59 AM - daniel871: Must have been dehydrated or something for it to hit her that fast.
    Aug 25, 2015 11:59 AM - Mike Kelly: i'm surprised she lived

Aug 25, 2015 12:01 PM - PeterkSharma: its seeming like i might have to just make my own mount
Aug 25, 2015 12:01 PM - jbigler1986: although I did get to bring back a bunch of cigars from the Dominican Republic
Aug 25, 2015 12:02 PM - PeterkSharma: Dan, i used to live 30 miles away from that tank accident hahahaa
    Aug 25, 2015 12:02 PM - daniel871: I bet that was one hell of a mess.
Aug 25, 2015 12:03 PM - daniel871: Also I like how the people involved are described as not reporting the accident "until the enormity of what happened struck them"
Aug 25, 2015 12:03 PM - PeterkSharma: yeah, at least it was prob quick and pain free
Aug 25, 2015 12:03 PM - daniel871: I read that as "Well fuck, how can we get away with this?"
    Aug 25, 2015 12:03 PM - daniel871: I seriously doubt the pain free bit.
    Aug 25, 2015 12:03 PM - daniel871: Quick maybe.
Aug 25, 2015 12:03 PM - PeterkSharma: prob not enough time to register the pain
Aug 25, 2015 12:03 PM - daniel871: But it would hurt the entire time.
Aug 25, 2015 12:04 PM - PeterkSharma: I think it starts with buying a tank.
Aug 25, 2015 12:04 PM - PeterkSharma: then become a corporation so you can get away with anything
Aug 25, 2015 12:04 PM - daniel871: Given how loudly animals scream when they fuck up and run under my car tires, I can imagine that the man had time to scream horribly before it kills him.
Aug 25, 2015 12:04 PM - PeterkSharma: steps one and two
Aug 25, 2015 12:04 PM - PeterkSharma: yeah well thats a good point

Aug 25, 2015 12:10 PM - daniel871: Also probably all of Congress is there too.
Aug 25, 2015 12:10 PM - PeterkSharma: yeah, i think this leak is so great

Aug 25, 2015 12:41 PM - Mike Kelly: oh boo
    Aug 25, 2015 12:42 PM - jbigler1986: I will back to normal tomorrow
Aug 25, 2015 12:44 PM - Mike Kelly: not sure what makes people think they can release STL files but not release the solid models and expect it to be kept out of the public domain
    Aug 25, 2015 12:48 PM - jbigler1986: ?
Aug 25, 2015 12:48 PM - Mike Kelly: allted won't release his solidworks models
Aug 25, 2015 12:48 PM - Mike Kelly: or even step
Aug 25, 2015 12:48 PM - Mike Kelly: so now i get to recreate everything from the STL's which takes forever
Aug 25, 2015 12:48 PM - Mike Kelly: so yay
    Aug 25, 2015 12:55 PM - jbigler1986: what isn't working for you
Aug 25, 2015 12:56 PM - Mike Kelly: stl files just take up a lot of memory in solidworks and if i'm coming up with ideas i don't like being slowed down by loading
Aug 25, 2015 1:15 PM - Mike Glass: so what are you doing with them MK?
Aug 25, 2015 1:16 PM - Mike Kelly: mostly just designing my table
Aug 25, 2015 1:16 PM - Mike Kelly: figure out the cutting area, and have the actual Z axis so I can design my router mount more easily
Aug 25, 2015 1:17 PM - Mike Kelly: though part of it is whenever someone tells me i can't do something just makes me want to do it more

Aug 25, 2015 1:43 PM - Mike Glass: damn bill that thing is huge, is that a whole roll..lol
    Aug 25, 2015 1:43 PM - Bill Monroe: heh .85 pounds
Aug 25, 2015 1:44 PM - Bill Monroe: according to S3D anyway, I'll weigh it when I get home
    Aug 25, 2015 1:44 PM - PeterkSharma: if I can get you a discount?
Aug 25, 2015 1:45 PM - PeterkSharma: ..... what are you trying to get a discount on?
Aug 25, 2015 1:45 PM - Bill Monroe: aha the lables I ordered this morning arrived.. I'm outta here
Aug 25, 2015 1:45 PM - PeterkSharma: Bill, rememeber who you work with in seattle?
Aug 25, 2015 1:45 PM - Bill Monroe: no one, I went to school with him
Aug 25, 2015 1:47 PM - PeterkSharma: no for FSDO
Aug 25, 2015 1:47 PM - PeterkSharma: i'm headed to the office right now
Aug 25, 2015 1:48 PM - Bill Monroe: oh! I cant remember.. one of the inspectors guys on the maintenance side, they change so much it's rarely the same guy
Aug 25, 2015 1:48 PM - PeterkSharma: what was the type of plane?
    Aug 25, 2015 1:48 PM - Bill Monroe: Sopwith
    Aug 25, 2015 1:49 PM - PeterkSharma: rgr
Aug 25, 2015 1:49 PM - Bill Monroe: licensed as Experimental Amateur Built
Aug 25, 2015 1:49 PM - PeterkSharma: have a good time those labels, i'm back to packing
Aug 25, 2015 1:49 PM - PeterkSharma: oh i know who i talk to about that
    Aug 25, 2015 1:49 PM - Bill Monroe: ... but it really wasnt :)
    Aug 25, 2015 1:49 PM - Bill Monroe: what's his name?
Aug 25, 2015 1:50 PM - Bill Monroe: it was about 5, maybe 6 years ago now
Aug 25, 2015 1:50 PM - Bill Monroe: gads, now that I think about it.. might be more like 9
Aug 25, 2015 1:51 PM - Bill Monroe: sheezuz time flies
Aug 25, 2015 1:53 PM - Mike Kelly: peter i meant printed solid
Aug 25, 2015 1:55 PM - PeterkSharma: Dwight is the guy im thinking of
    Aug 25, 2015 1:55 PM - PeterkSharma: larger black guy about 5'8''
Aug 25, 2015 1:56 PM - PeterkSharma: i think hes been there for 10 years
Aug 25, 2015 1:56 PM - Bill Monroe: ya, I didnt really think I'd remember...
Aug 25, 2015 1:56 PM - PeterkSharma: ahhaha yeah i didnt realize it had been so long
Aug 25, 2015 1:56 PM - Bill Monroe: I never met the guys face-to-face so I dont know what they looks like.. all phone and fax comms
Aug 25, 2015 1:57 PM - PeterkSharma: MK, do you have an address for him? I was going to send him some porolay, but i want to get it done before i pack all that stuff off
Aug 25, 2015 1:57 PM - Bill Monroe: i looked it up.. 2006 so ya, my memory failed me :)
Aug 25, 2015 1:57 PM - Bill Monroe: it was all about trying to get it airworhty with an original Clerget Rotary Engine
Aug 25, 2015 1:58 PM - PeterkSharma: I was looking at getting my license, buy i talked to the guy who tests the cfi's and he said people under 30 can usually get it in 40-45 if you can fly multipul times a week
    Aug 25, 2015 1:58 PM - Bill Monroe: tell him it was a Sopwith 1 1/2 "strutter"
Aug 25, 2015 1:58 PM - PeterkSharma: its got a rotary in it?! thats amazing! how fast have you gotten it?
Aug 25, 2015 1:58 PM - Bill Monroe: not like a wankel.. the whole engine turns
Aug 25, 2015 1:59 PM - PeterkSharma: im not sure i follow how that works...
Aug 25, 2015 1:59 PM - Bill Monroe: i never flew it, but I think it topped out around 100-110
Aug 25, 2015 1:59 PM - Bill Monroe: ok hang on
    Aug 25, 2015 1:59 PM - Bill Monroe: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Clerget-Blin
Aug 25, 2015 1:59 PM - JeffTheMess: Hey is mike k still on?
    Aug 25, 2015 1:59 PM - Mike Kelly: yes
Aug 25, 2015 2:00 PM - Bill Monroe: basically, the crankshaft is attached to the firewall, the whole engine spins
Aug 25, 2015 2:00 PM - Mike Kelly: peter i have his address somewhere but probably quicker to message him
Aug 25, 2015 2:00 PM - Bill Monroe: it allowed the exclusion of a flywheel, using the whole engine as a flywheel, and made it lighter
Aug 25, 2015 2:00 PM - JeffTheMess: Your v6 dual fan should it be a "snap-on" to the heatsink
Aug 25, 2015 2:01 PM - Mike Kelly: JB to answer your question the mini IR sensor would act like a normal switch
    Aug 25, 2015 2:01 PM - Mike Kelly: yes?
Aug 25, 2015 2:01 PM - Mike Kelly: what daniel did was just use the stock v6 fan mounts
Aug 25, 2015 2:02 PM - JeffTheMess: How he did it seems to be a tight fit
Aug 25, 2015 2:02 PM - Mike Kelly: yeah dual v6's take up a lot of room
Aug 25, 2015 2:03 PM - PeterkSharma: thats pretty interesting. I've never heard of those types of planes before.
Aug 25, 2015 2:04 PM - Bill Monroe: World War 1 pretty much anything with around nose had them
    Aug 25, 2015 2:04 PM - Bill Monroe: a round
Aug 25, 2015 2:05 PM - JeffTheMess: Yeah i used pla and its not flexible enough to snap on
Aug 25, 2015 2:09 PM - PeterkSharma: gotcha, thats why i haven't. what else are you flying?
Aug 25, 2015 2:17 PM - Mike Glass: how sad, squinty cup has exceeded downloads then all my other crap on thingiverse..lol
Aug 25, 2015 2:19 PM - Mike Kelly: use more force
Aug 25, 2015 2:21 PM - Mike Glass: rubber mallet
    Aug 25, 2015 2:22 PM - Mike Kelly: c-clamp
    Aug 25, 2015 2:22 PM - Mike Glass: vise
Aug 25, 2015 2:23 PM - Mike Kelly: sledge hammer and dog poop
    Aug 25, 2015 2:23 PM - Mike Kelly: wait
    Aug 25, 2015 2:27 PM - JeffTheMess: too late
    Aug 25, 2015 3:03 PM - Mike Kelly: *yawn*
    Aug 25, 2015 3:03 PM - JeffTheMess: yep
Aug 25, 2015 3:07 PM - Michael DiFilippo: Hey Mike I think I may have made some headway on the chimera upgrade I've been doing. So I calibrated the steps for the extruder based off of filament NOT going through the hot end. But am not getting satisfactory prints. Just did a test though extruding filament through the hot end and the measurements don't match (10mm extrude is not using 10mm of filament)
Aug 25, 2015 3:08 PM - Michael DiFilippo: should I do the calibration again now based off of this?
Aug 25, 2015 3:11 PM - Mike Kelly: no there must be another issue
Aug 25, 2015 3:11 PM - Mike Kelly: have you adjusted the current on the stepper driver?
Aug 25, 2015 3:13 PM - Michael DiFilippo: I have... but not with reading the current on a meter. It pretty much only seemed to turn at a particular rotation of the pot
Aug 25, 2015 3:14 PM - Mike Kelly: you mean it only works in one spot on the pot?
Aug 25, 2015 3:14 PM - Michael DiFilippo: That is what seems is happening
Aug 25, 2015 3:15 PM - Mike Kelly: if you hold the filament coming out of the extruder does it seem to cause the motor to skip or does it grind at the filament
    Aug 25, 2015 3:16 PM - Michael DiFilippo: grinds
Aug 25, 2015 3:16 PM - Michael DiFilippo: I did have to have the tension pretty tight though in order to get it to extruder reliably so that is why
Aug 25, 2015 3:17 PM - Mike Kelly: does the same thing happen when you try and push it through the hot end
Aug 25, 2015 3:18 PM - Michael DiFilippo: sorry not sure what you mean. I can manually push it through the hot end pretty easily
Aug 25, 2015 3:19 PM - Mike Kelly: like when you extrude filament, is the motor skipping or grinding the filament
Aug 25, 2015 3:19 PM - Mike Kelly: because i'm still worried about the orientation of your bowden arrangement
Aug 25, 2015 3:20 PM - Michael DiFilippo: Ohh, nope. There are slight indents on the filament from the gear but only enough that I can lightly feel them as I run my finger over it. I just adjusted the pot slightly more and get a little of a deeper sound coming from it and it indeed did extruder the correct amount. (tested at 10mm)

Aug 25, 2015 3:20 PM - Mike Kelly: oh good
Aug 25, 2015 3:20 PM - Mike Kelly: keep an eye on the motor temp
Aug 25, 2015 3:22 PM - Michael DiFilippo: Yeah I noticed it getting a bit warm so I wired up an 80mm blowing across both of them. I do need to desperately flip the printer over and put a fan on the ramps board (mine never had one) and I keep forgetting to add it on
Aug 25, 2015 3:22 PM - Mike Kelly: yeah i had to add them after i upgraded my Z axis, stepper motors were either under torqued or overheating
Aug 25, 2015 3:22 PM - Mike Kelly: this was on my kickstarter, TR10*2 lead screws
Aug 25, 2015 3:23 PM - Michael DiFilippo: I'm waiting until I get the chimera all sorted out and working before I upgrade the lead screws but I do plan to do it
Aug 25, 2015 3:24 PM - Mike Kelly: yeah the integrated lead screws are totally worth it
Aug 25, 2015 3:24 PM - Mike Glass: no more worry about the threaded rods coming loose, wee.
Aug 25, 2015 3:25 PM - Michael DiFilippo: appreciate your time Mk! hopefully I'll get this all up and running soon enough
Aug 25, 2015 3:26 PM - Mike Glass: Hey Mike what part do you have now for robbie. Harry sent me L204 last night, its bigger then the robo..lol
    Aug 25, 2015 3:27 PM - Mike Kelly: i printed a couple leg pieces
Aug 25, 2015 3:27 PM - Mike Glass: this is just a big ol block
Aug 25, 2015 3:28 PM - Mike Glass: guess it isnt as big as I thought, 8 hour at 75mm/s
Aug 25, 2015 3:29 PM - Mike Kelly: probably one of the feet
    Aug 25, 2015 3:29 PM - Mike Glass: L probably means left?
Aug 25, 2015 3:30 PM - Mike Kelly: hmm no clue on that
Aug 25, 2015 3:30 PM - Mike Kelly: all my parts have been L's
Aug 25, 2015 3:30 PM - Mike Glass: yea mine too.
Aug 25, 2015 3:31 PM - Mike Glass: I have been having issues for awhile, glad I cleaned the nozzle, no more grinding in the hobb
Aug 25, 2015 3:32 PM - Mike Glass: I was thinking it was the ramps as it seem to be 1/4 to half way through a print, but I have a 60mm fan on it now.
Aug 25, 2015 3:33 PM - Mike Glass: need to find a quieter one though it vibrates too much.
Aug 25, 2015 3:35 PM - Mike Glass: what colors did you end up getting.
Aug 25, 2015 3:35 PM - Mike Kelly: gold and hopefully a better red
Aug 25, 2015 3:36 PM - Mike Glass: yea saw that gold looked good. i got the crazy blue and purple.
Aug 25, 2015 3:37 PM - Mike Glass: the red looks kinda orange to me though.
Aug 25, 2015 3:38 PM - Mike Kelly: yeah that's why i'm burning up my current spool of it
Aug 25, 2015 3:38 PM - Mike Kelly: i hope the new stuff is better
Aug 25, 2015 3:38 PM - Mike Kelly: otherwise damn
Aug 25, 2015 3:39 PM - Mike Glass: well at least no loss eh
    Aug 25, 2015 3:39 PM - Mike Kelly: yeah
Aug 25, 2015 3:39 PM - Mike Kelly: i'll just buy a spool of the justpla red if it's not good
Aug 25, 2015 3:39 PM - Mike Glass: the translucent or the other line
    Aug 25, 2015 3:40 PM - Mike Kelly: wtf
    Aug 25, 2015 3:40 PM - Mike Glass: oh go away loser77
    Aug 25, 2015 3:40 PM - Mike Glass: spammer
    Aug 25, 2015 3:41 PM - Mike Glass: not no more..lol
Aug 25, 2015 3:41 PM - Mike Kelly: has that happened before? that was a first for me
Aug 25, 2015 3:41 PM - Mike Glass: I have seen it before
Aug 25, 2015 3:42 PM - Mike Glass: not that particular one
    Aug 25, 2015 3:51 PM - Mike Kelly: weird
Aug 25, 2015 4:06 PM - Mike Glass: Did you see this Mike.
Aug 25, 2015 4:14 PM - PeterkSharma: I walked into work to count my deposit for the day and there is 400 Etta dollars. Fuck
    Aug 25, 2015 4:14 PM - PeterkSharma: Dollars
    Aug 25, 2015 4:14 PM - PeterkSharma: Extrar
Aug 25, 2015 4:14 PM - PeterkSharma: iOS damn auto correct
    Aug 25, 2015 4:15 PM - Mike Kelly: wow that's a crazy jig mike
Aug 25, 2015 4:21 PM - Mike Glass: too bad he doesnt post them for free.
    Aug 25, 2015 4:22 PM - Mike Kelly: right
Aug 25, 2015 4:32 PM - Mike Kelly: also allted has no plans on ever releasing source files, he intends to turn it into some business or something
Aug 25, 2015 4:35 PM - Mike Glass: who did you hear that from?
    Aug 25, 2015 4:37 PM - Magnumr: hello
    Aug 25, 2015 4:37 PM - Magnumr: i tried following Tom's extruder calibartion
Aug 25, 2015 4:37 PM - Magnumr: but when i send M503 on terminal i get nothing back
Aug 25, 2015 4:38 PM - Mike Glass: I think there is another command you have to send first
Aug 25, 2015 4:42 PM - Mike Kelly: from allted
Aug 25, 2015 4:42 PM - Mike Kelly: modify the firmware magnum
Aug 25, 2015 4:44 PM - Magnumr: but i first need to know the original value.. so i can calculate the new steps
Aug 25, 2015 4:44 PM - Magnumr: on the youtube video it souds like M503 to find your cuurent stesp
    Aug 25, 2015 4:45 PM - Mike Kelly: http://guide.robo3d.com/Wiki/ROBO_3D_Firmware_Release_Notes
    Aug 25, 2015 4:52 PM - Magnumr: i have KS robo 3d
Aug 25, 2015 4:53 PM - Magnumr: no understanding what i am supposed to do with the link
Aug 25, 2015 4:54 PM - Mike Kelly: beta firmware
Aug 25, 2015 4:54 PM - Mike Kelly: search for steps
Aug 25, 2015 4:54 PM - Mike Kelly: change esteps
    Aug 25, 2015 4:54 PM - Magnumr: ahh ok i understand
Aug 25, 2015 4:54 PM - Magnumr: so sending code via terminal does not work
    Aug 25, 2015 4:54 PM - Mike Kelly: it's not permanent
    Aug 25, 2015 4:55 PM - Mike Kelly: man i hate working with STL's
Aug 25, 2015 4:56 PM - Mike Kelly: soooo slowww
Aug 25, 2015 4:57 PM - daniel871: Well yeah, allted literally has a store where he sells the electronic kits.
Aug 25, 2015 4:58 PM - PeterkSharma: who is alted?
    Aug 25, 2015 4:58 PM - daniel871: Mp Cnc guy
Aug 25, 2015 4:58 PM - Mike Kelly: help me win this contest so i can take the money and not give anything back like i said i would!
Aug 25, 2015 4:59 PM - PeterkSharma: what contest is that?
Aug 25, 2015 5:05 PM - PeterkSharma: can much slicing software do 5 axis print, and cnc milling? or do you need custom software?
Aug 25, 2015 5:06 PM - daniel871: Pretty sure 5-axis is a whole new level of cam software vs. freeware slicers
Aug 25, 2015 5:07 PM - daniel871: Well, hang on, what software does the morph use for its 5-axis Cnc attachment?
    Aug 25, 2015 5:07 PM - daniel871: Zmorph
    Aug 25, 2015 5:09 PM - Mike Kelly: almost finished roller F
Aug 25, 2015 5:09 PM - Mike Kelly: then just gotta do the z carriage
Aug 25, 2015 5:09 PM - PeterkSharma: im not seeing it on the site
    Aug 25, 2015 5:16 PM - jbigler1986: Im back
Aug 25, 2015 5:16 PM - Mike Kelly: how was the commute
    Aug 25, 2015 5:16 PM - jbigler1986: Wasnt bad. I left 15 minutes early.
Aug 25, 2015 5:17 PM - jbigler1986: I had some dumbass biker try to tell my brake lights were out. I said no i have a manual and i put it in neutral
    Aug 25, 2015 5:18 PM - Mike Kelly: lol
    Aug 25, 2015 5:19 PM - jbigler1986: What have i been missing here
Aug 25, 2015 5:19 PM - PeterkSharma: me trying to wrap my brain around a 7 axis mill
Aug 25, 2015 5:20 PM - PeterkSharma: i'm having a hard time understand what all off the 7 axis are
    Aug 25, 2015 5:21 PM - jbigler1986: 7 axis?
    Aug 25, 2015 5:22 PM - PeterkSharma:
    Aug 25, 2015 5:23 PM - jbigler1986: That's not enough. Why not have 11
    Aug 25, 2015 5:23 PM - jbigler1986:
Aug 25, 2015 5:24 PM - Mike Kelly: now on the lifestyles of the rich and famous
Aug 25, 2015 5:25 PM - PeterkSharma: what is the difference is output product for 5 to 11 axis?
Aug 25, 2015 5:26 PM - Mike Kelly: depends what you need made and how quickly
Aug 25, 2015 5:28 PM - PeterkSharma: let me ask that a different way, is there anything an 11 axis mill can make that a 5 axis cant make
Aug 25, 2015 5:29 PM - Mike Kelly: sure lots of stuff
Aug 25, 2015 5:29 PM - Mike Kelly: at least without retooling
Aug 25, 2015 5:30 PM - Mike Kelly: you mostly use a machine that complex if you really want to cut down on machining time

Aug 25, 2015 5:30 PM - PeterkSharma: gotcha, thats where the extra axis come in
Aug 25, 2015 5:30 PM - PeterkSharma: what is optimal
Aug 25, 2015 5:31 PM - PeterkSharma: and has programing that already exists?
    Aug 25, 2015 5:34 PM - jbigler1986: I want that 11 axis. That thing it bad ass
    Aug 25, 2015 5:34 PM - jbigler1986: Is*
Aug 25, 2015 5:37 PM - PeterkSharma: yeah, i want to make one.
Aug 25, 2015 5:37 PM - PeterkSharma: if you can do it for 3 you can do it for 11
Aug 25, 2015 5:37 PM - PeterkSharma: this should be a robo shoutbox group project
    Aug 25, 2015 5:37 PM - jbigler1986:
    Aug 25, 2015 5:38 PM - jbigler1986: Ok. 5 axis is all i need
Aug 25, 2015 5:40 PM - PeterkSharma: we could make one
    Aug 25, 2015 5:40 PM - PeterkSharma: http://makezine.com/2015/06/23/5-axis-cnc-less-thank-5k/
Aug 25, 2015 5:41 PM - nonmindo: Good evening errbody!
Aug 25, 2015 5:41 PM - Mike Kelly: 5 is plenty for almost anything you could want to make
Aug 25, 2015 5:41 PM - nonmindo: Time for my question of the day lol.... any reason I wouldn't want to get a PT100 for the E3Dv6?
Aug 25, 2015 5:41 PM - Mike Kelly: You just need to refix the work piece if you need to do something on the plate side
Aug 25, 2015 5:42 PM - Mike Kelly: Non you would need to upgrade to the latest versions of marlin
Aug 25, 2015 5:43 PM - nonmindo: Is that such a bad thing? lol or is it not really stable yet?
    Aug 25, 2015 5:43 PM - PeterkSharma: time for simplify 5d
Aug 25, 2015 5:44 PM - jbigler1986: Im sure there are way better out there for that
    Aug 25, 2015 5:44 PM - nonmindo: fk i just barely got simplify3d.....
Aug 25, 2015 5:45 PM - PeterkSharma: yeah, i saw a few free open source when i was looking
Aug 25, 2015 5:49 PM - Mike Kelly: Non there's a thread for it. WheresWaldo has been figuring it out
    Aug 25, 2015 5:50 PM - PeterkSharma: http://community.robo3d.com/index.php?threads/marlin-firmware-upgrade-1-1-0-dev-working-on-r1.5806/

Aug 25, 2015 5:52 PM - PeterkSharma: how do you pm?
    Aug 25, 2015 5:53 PM - PeterkSharma: nevermind
Aug 25, 2015 5:54 PM - nonmindo: thanks guys, will give it a read
Aug 25, 2015 5:56 PM - Mike Glass: Tape MK best think since sliced cake
Aug 25, 2015 5:56 PM - nonmindo: ohhhhh and i finally figured out what was resonating on the damn robo....it got so bad last night(today) the thing woke me up.... the right Z rod was vibrating in the little hole in the top of the printer....ugh
Aug 25, 2015 5:57 PM - Bill Monroe: robbie part done.. 27 hours 39 minutes
    Aug 25, 2015 5:57 PM - Mike Glass: wow

    Aug 25, 2015 6:02 PM - jbigler1986: Yeah
Aug 25, 2015 6:02 PM - nonmindo: well.....i guess i wont be printing that one...lol but did it print assembled?
Aug 25, 2015 6:02 PM - jbigler1986: I could have used a bigger nozzle and removed a lot of the support. But i said screw it
Aug 25, 2015 6:03 PM - Bill Monroe: he printed th M&Ms inside too
Aug 25, 2015 6:03 PM - jbigler1986: Nope. That was just for the main body of it

Aug 25, 2015 6:56 PM - Bill Monroe: maybe tomorrow.. I need some of those sticky things you use to attached cable bundles with tiewraps to panels.. I dont have any so.. time to make a few
    Aug 25, 2015 6:57 PM - nonmindo: nice
Aug 25, 2015 6:57 PM - Bill Monroe: what are you making?
Aug 25, 2015 6:58 PM - nonmindo: thats probably one of my favorite things about 3d printers.....have a plastic part that broke....print a replacement..... I've already fixed a couple of my parents TV trays that have little plastic clips
    Aug 25, 2015 7:08 PM - PeterkSharma: hey bill
Aug 25, 2015 7:09 PM - PeterkSharma: know much about 5 axis milling software? kinda curious if there is any free stuff
Aug 25, 2015 7:09 PM - Bill Monroe: CAM or machine control?
    Aug 25, 2015 7:09 PM - Bill Monroe: Pete
Aug 25, 2015 7:09 PM - PeterkSharma: what is more stable?
    Aug 25, 2015 7:10 PM - Bill Monroe: they're two different things
Aug 25, 2015 7:10 PM - PeterkSharma: yeah ones a computer ones on the mill right?
Aug 25, 2015 7:10 PM - Bill Monroe: CAM is the machining equivalent of slicing.. it prepares the Gcode... the other is like the Arduino, just reads the codes and send commands to the motors and such
Aug 25, 2015 7:11 PM - PeterkSharma: yeah gotcha. I'm kinda curious about taking on trying to make one
    Aug 25, 2015 7:11 PM - PeterkSharma: so both i guess
Aug 25, 2015 7:11 PM - Bill Monroe: 5 axis is not for the faint of heart
Aug 25, 2015 7:12 PM - PeterkSharma: the physical build couldnt be that terribly hard. I'm always up for a challange
Aug 25, 2015 7:12 PM - PeterkSharma: pluse i can really use it for some radio projects
Aug 25, 2015 7:12 PM - Bill Monroe: ok well, do some reseach and report back :)
    Aug 25, 2015 7:12 PM - PeterkSharma: yeah, i have a little :)
    Aug 25, 2015 7:12 PM - Bill Monroe: that's an understatement :)
Aug 25, 2015 7:14 PM - PeterkSharma: there's a guy name bob out there who has some free plans. and there is an open source project as well. but more curious about if you have any experience or heard much about those programs. I'm not sure if i want to do all the programing for the boards. And not too sure how buggy the current open source stuff is. I have only really seen it for the slicing. havent found much info on the acutual machine control.
Aug 25, 2015 7:15 PM - Bill Monroe: there's no way I would trust any open or free 5 axis CAM
Aug 25, 2015 7:16 PM - PeterkSharma: there was a kickstarter for a desktop 5 axis that i really like the design of. It was a desktop one being built out of Montana. It used the mill mounted horizontally and then the print bed was on as wheel that was mounted to a wheel.
Aug 25, 2015 7:16 PM - Bill Monroe: look at CNCZONE.com search for Mach3 and start there
Aug 25, 2015 7:19 PM - nonmindo: bill, interesting start sequence and skirts
    Aug 25, 2015 7:19 PM - PeterkSharma: rgr
    Aug 25, 2015 7:19 PM - Bill Monroe: I got as stalker! :)

Aug 25, 2015 7:21 PM - nonmindo: the half circles pop off the first layer?
    Aug 25, 2015 7:21 PM - nonmindo: ie: raft
Aug 25, 2015 7:22 PM - Bill Monroe: no rafts

Aug 25, 2015 7:23 PM - nonmindo: alrighty well if you are gonna be on in a bit we'll chat some more... I'm interested in some of your settings and such for S3D (i know a lot of them vary printer to printer though)
Aug 25, 2015 7:23 PM - PeterkSharma: oh yeah? can I get your profile........ :)
    Aug 25, 2015 7:23 PM - nonmindo: lol

Aug 25, 2015 7:33 PM - nonmindo: another stream for me to stalk and get jelly over the print quality lol
Aug 25, 2015 7:33 PM - Mike Glass: almost 10 hours into this print
Aug 25, 2015 7:33 PM - nonmindo: looks liek the work proxy kills it :(
    Aug 25, 2015 7:33 PM - nonmindo: like*

    Aug 25, 2015 7:36 PM - Mike Glass: .2 like they asked
    Aug 25, 2015 7:36 PM - Mike Kelly: ah

Aug 25, 2015 7:44 PM - Mike Glass: that looks nasty
    Aug 25, 2015 7:44 PM - daniel871: DG competition?
Aug 25, 2015 7:44 PM - Mike Glass: thats what it looks like..lol
Aug 25, 2015 7:44 PM - nonmindo: is that also yours?
Aug 25, 2015 7:45 PM - nonmindo: (the stream on youtube)
    Aug 25, 2015 7:45 PM - Mike Glass: yep
Aug 25, 2015 7:46 PM - Mike Glass: not sure why its zoomed in and backwards on the camera though
    Aug 25, 2015 7:46 PM - nonmindo: lol
    Aug 25, 2015 7:46 PM - nonmindo: because youtube
Aug 25, 2015 7:51 PM - nonmindo: do all of the robbie parts take roughly 8+ hours to print?
Aug 25, 2015 7:52 PM - nonmindo: I wouldn't mind joining in, but I dunno if i trust my robo to run that long yet unattended without monitoring and remote shutdown
    Aug 25, 2015 7:52 PM - daniel871: The pink failed part clocked 20 hours.
    Aug 25, 2015 7:52 PM - Mike Glass: damn
    Aug 25, 2015 7:52 PM - daniel871: I mean, it ran, but wasn't worth sending in.
Aug 25, 2015 7:53 PM - Mike Glass: yea i had some run at 8 and this one is probably going to be 11
Aug 25, 2015 7:53 PM - daniel871: Apparently you are supposed to stage down cooling the PEI as the piece runs.
Aug 25, 2015 7:53 PM - Mike Glass: bill just had one that was double that.
Aug 25, 2015 7:54 PM - Mike Glass: why is that dan
Aug 25, 2015 7:54 PM - nonmindo: yea bills part...holy crap lol.... I logged in at work at 545 and it was already printing for 5hrs, then every couple hours i would check on it....well work shift came and gone....checked before bed, STILL running lol...
    Aug 25, 2015 7:55 PM - nonmindo: 545p*
Aug 25, 2015 7:55 PM - daniel871: Because say for ABS, holding it at 95C for several hours causes the ABS to discolor and degrade.
Aug 25, 2015 7:55 PM - Mike Glass: holy hell, you had it at 95c.
Aug 25, 2015 8:02 PM - daniel871: Yeah. I missed the bit about staging the temp down to 65-70 by the time you get to 20mm part thickness that is on a couple forums talking about PEI beds.
Aug 25, 2015 8:02 PM - nonmindo: I have a question, i had a stl i printed before in PLA without issue, I ran it through netfabb online fixer and nettfabb took out a lot of the detail on the inner/outer surface(its a cup sleeve for sbux), but not only that once the print finished and I was taking it off the bed, it just crumbled.... the only differences this time was the brand/color PLA and the netfabb fix
    Aug 25, 2015 8:03 PM - daniel871: If it ain't broke, don't fix it.
Aug 25, 2015 8:04 PM - nonmindo: yea im starting to think that might be the mantra i should follow with this stuff.... i was gonna run everything through the online fixer but after that... I'm probably only going to do that if htere is a problem with the print.... I'm gonna try and get S3D up and running this weekend too so i can rule out any issue with MatterCrap
Aug 25, 2015 8:11 PM - Mike Glass: Yea MC does not do a good job on intricate parts.
Aug 25, 2015 8:12 PM - Mike Glass: ok what color should my next part be.. translucent orange might do.
Aug 25, 2015 8:16 PM - Mike Glass: Yo Blake
    Aug 25, 2015 8:20 PM - Bill Monroe: back
Aug 25, 2015 8:22 PM - Mike Glass: that was quick, unless you dont like being a prune.
Aug 25, 2015 8:22 PM - Bill Monroe: heh.. her sister is here.. they started taking about girl stuff
Aug 25, 2015 8:28 PM - Mike Kelly: Mg translucent orange ftw
    Aug 25, 2015 8:30 PM - Blake Benefield: Yeah
Aug 25, 2015 8:30 PM - Mike Glass: so im correct, MK what is the TPI on the 8mm threaded rods
    Aug 25, 2015 8:33 PM - Mike Glass: pretty sure its 20-21
    Aug 25, 2015 8:33 PM - Mike Glass: I know 5/16 is 18
Aug 25, 2015 8:33 PM - Blake Benefield: Its the same as the hic!lol
Aug 25, 2015 8:33 PM - Blake Benefield: Got my hic rod in it.
    Aug 25, 2015 8:33 PM - Mike Glass: your such a hic
Aug 25, 2015 8:34 PM - Blake Benefield: Csnt help it
    Aug 25, 2015 8:34 PM - Mike Glass: hey 360 for parts isnt bad..lol
Aug 25, 2015 8:35 PM - Blake Benefield: I just wanna see if this fixes the problem
Aug 25, 2015 8:35 PM - Mike Glass: Mike what software do yo use for streaming on youtube?
Aug 25, 2015 8:37 PM - Blake Benefield: It's not squealing now when its moving with this rod

Aug 26, 2015 at 5:07 AM - daniel871: I liked how cool it was outside when I left the house to head to work this morning, though.

Aug 26, 2015 at 5:09 AM - Bill Monroe: the whole country is suffering because of it
Aug 26, 2015 at 5:09 AM - daniel871: I got some pretty weird search results when I googled that.
Aug 26, 2015 at 5:10 AM - daniel871: Apparently, there are people out there that seriously believe that the flu is a result of demonic possession.

    Aug 26, 2015 at 5:14 AM - daniel871: Ah.
Aug 26, 2015 at 5:15 AM - daniel871: Make a Lithophane of the Purple Rain cover art with the purple filament.
    Aug 26, 2015 at 5:15 AM - Bill Monroe: uh no :0
Aug 26, 2015 at 5:16 AM - daniel871: I'd like to figure out how to generate a tea light lamp with a lithophane as part of the print instead of having to make an assembly.
    Aug 26, 2015 at 5:16 AM - JeffTheMess: http://www.ustream.tv/channel/jeffthemess
Aug 26, 2015 at 5:18 AM - daniel871: Probably have to make the lithophane STL, then the lamp STL and merge them in Blender or meshmixer, right?
Aug 26, 2015 at 5:19 AM - Blake Benefield: So test print on the robo with the non-bent allthread came out well
Aug 26, 2015 at 5:20 AM - Blake Benefield: I need to grab some bearings maybe. I tried the BB trick on the hic but it didnt seem to do anything
Aug 26, 2015 at 5:21 AM - Bill Monroe: ZIggy's stuff only works on really old machines
Aug 26, 2015 at 5:22 AM - Blake Benefield: Ahh. Well i figured it was wirth a shot on the hictop
Aug 26, 2015 at 5:23 AM - daniel871: Has anyone been using Waldo's latest firmware?

Aug 26, 2015 at 5:26 AM - Bill Monroe: I've tweaked mine so much I wont load someone else's now.. not even Robo's :)
Aug 26, 2015 at 5:38 AM - daniel871: Is yours still mostly stock or did you do a leadscrew upgrade as well?
Aug 26, 2015 at 5:49 AM - daniel871: Ordered these since the tool that came with the Robo isn't quite the best to use on delicate print removal http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B004669XQ6
Aug 26, 2015 at 5:50 AM - Bill Monroe: I installed lead screws before it was cool :)
Aug 26, 2015 at 5:51 AM - Bill Monroe: I made a lot of changes, reversed many of them
Aug 26, 2015 at 5:52 AM - Bill Monroe: in the end, the only hardware changes I made were to add an XXL panel, switch to the E3DV6, and installed T8 Z screws with intergrated steppers
Aug 26, 2015 at 5:53 AM - Bill Monroe: spent some time tightening and squaring-up the system
Aug 26, 2015 at 5:53 AM - JeffTheMess: where did you get your lead screws bill?
Aug 26, 2015 at 5:54 AM - Bill Monroe: on amazon, made by sainsmart
Aug 26, 2015 at 5:56 AM - Bill Monroe: wait, I did make parts to hold the top of the Z slide rods straight and firm... that stuck too :)

Aug 26, 2015 at 8:15 AM - BryZad: Does this mean the Robot is going to be multi colored ?
Aug 26, 2015 at 8:17 AM - Mike Kelly: yes
Aug 26, 2015 at 8:18 AM - PeterkSharma: someone should print a part with like ninjaflex
Aug 26, 2015 at 8:18 AM - PeterkSharma: or some not as expensive TPE
Aug 26, 2015 at 8:18 AM - Mike Glass: um it states not flexible materials, only PLA
    Aug 26, 2015 at 8:18 AM - PeterkSharma: oh
Aug 26, 2015 at 8:18 AM - PeterkSharma: havnet read the thread
Aug 26, 2015 at 8:19 AM - Mike Glass: and at .2 LH
Aug 26, 2015 at 8:19 AM - Mike Kelly: he doesn't mention materials in the thread
Aug 26, 2015 at 8:20 AM - Mike Kelly: just in the message he sends out with the part
    Aug 26, 2015 at 8:21 AM - PeterkSharma: ah
Aug 26, 2015 at 8:21 AM - PeterkSharma: you could do soft pla :p
Aug 26, 2015 at 8:22 AM - Mike Kelly: i'm not about to use expensive filaments on this :)
Aug 26, 2015 at 8:25 AM - PeterkSharma: is there any difference in abs and abs pro fillament?
Aug 26, 2015 at 8:25 AM - Mike Kelly: branding
Aug 26, 2015 at 8:25 AM - Mike Kelly: abs is a mixture of 3 different chemicals so there's a lot of variability in it
    Aug 26, 2015 at 8:26 AM - PeterkSharma: gotcha
Aug 26, 2015 at 8:26 AM - PeterkSharma: hatchbox make good abs?
Aug 26, 2015 at 8:26 AM - Bigc: Good Morning
Aug 26, 2015 at 8:31 AM - Blake Benefield: It appears so peter. I didn't have great luck with it, but it was my fault and not the filament (i left the parts cooler fan on - newb mistake)
Aug 26, 2015 at 8:32 AM - Blake Benefield: even then it printed really well with basically no warpage until it tried to bridge a 2" gap
Aug 26, 2015 at 8:33 AM - donhuevo: I hate abs but accidentally bought some hatchbox. (thought I was ordering PLA). It printed well once I realized my mistake and hiked up the temps
Aug 26, 2015 at 8:33 AM - PeterkSharma: yeah, ive head good luck with their pla. I only have printed a small parts on abs.
Aug 26, 2015 at 8:34 AM - PeterkSharma: uh on don's here! I'm off to pack some more. good day all and happy printing
Aug 26, 2015 at 8:34 AM - donhuevo: good man
Aug 26, 2015 at 8:35 AM - donhuevo: don't want the sherriff to have to carry you out
Aug 26, 2015 at 8:35 AM - JeffTheMess: yeah hatchbox pla is great
    Aug 26, 2015 at 8:35 AM - PeterkSharma: hahaha
Aug 26, 2015 at 8:37 AM - Mike Kelly: i've heard good things about hatchbox
Aug 26, 2015 at 8:37 AM - Mike Kelly: never used their abs though
Aug 26, 2015 at 8:38 AM - Bigc: Hey has any one else ordered a set of lead screws because they said they would ship out yesterday but i have yet to get a tracking number
Aug 26, 2015 at 8:40 AM - Mike Glass: I have only used hatchbox abs till this weekend, prints smooth as butter.
Aug 26, 2015 at 8:40 AM - Mike Kelly: big the shipment of printers/lead screws arrived yesterday or maybe today
Aug 26, 2015 at 8:40 AM - Mike Kelly: hopefully they ship soon
Aug 26, 2015 at 8:42 AM - Mike Kelly: this is why robo doesn't like doing upgrade kits :)
Aug 26, 2015 at 8:47 AM - Bigc: Ive been using this and i have not had any issues except for some popping http://www.amazon.com/Zen-Toolworks...&qid=1440603843&sr=8-4&keywords=zen+toolworks
Aug 26, 2015 at 8:47 AM - Mike Kelly: i buy my abs from toybuilderlabs, their prototype supply line is very nice
Aug 26, 2015 at 8:48 AM - Mike Kelly: it's like the high end e-sun
Aug 26, 2015 at 8:51 AM - Bigc: The price is not bad
Aug 26, 2015 at 8:52 AM - Mike Kelly: yeah and if you buy 2 spools it's free shipping
Aug 26, 2015 at 8:53 AM - Mike Kelly: i usually get it in 2 days from them
Aug 26, 2015 at 8:54 AM - Bigc: I was looking at buying so bronzes fill for a project i am working on and i about lost it when i saw the price
Aug 26, 2015 at 8:55 AM - Mike Kelly: haha
    Aug 26, 2015 at 8:55 AM - Mike Kelly: yeah that's why i don't own any * fill
Aug 26, 2015 at 8:55 AM - Mike Kelly: too expensive for me
Aug 26, 2015 at 8:55 AM - Mike Kelly: btw i found out the shipment is still at port, not sure if it's cleared customs
Aug 26, 2015 at 8:55 AM - Mike Kelly: he's supposed to be sending out an update email to all the orderers
Aug 26, 2015 at 8:57 AM - Bigc: Ok thanks
Aug 26, 2015 at 8:57 AM - Bigc: for finding that out for me
Aug 26, 2015 at 9:01 AM - Bigc: When ever i print the heated bed wil get up to temp and it will turn it self off after it reaches the temp for printing any ideas on what is causing that
Aug 26, 2015 at 9:03 AM - Mike Glass: does it tell you max temp?
Aug 26, 2015 at 9:03 AM - Mike Glass: are you using MC btw?
Aug 26, 2015 at 9:04 AM - Bigc: i reconfigured the temp in the firmware for 110 and i hit 100 for abs
Aug 26, 2015 at 9:06 AM - Mike Glass: yea, it has a hard time going that high, use 95
Aug 26, 2015 at 9:07 AM - Bigc: I use cura 15.04 MC (Must Close)
Aug 26, 2015 at 9:07 AM - Mike Glass: unless you have gone over all your connections to the ramps board and make sure they are secured.
Aug 26, 2015 at 9:08 AM - donhuevo: it could be software/gcode related too. that happens when I run s3d and I've been too lazy to figure out why
Aug 26, 2015 at 9:15 AM - JeffTheMess: is it just me or is the robo website not working properly?
    Aug 26, 2015 at 9:18 AM - jbigler1986: Sounds about right
    Aug 26, 2015 at 9:38 AM - JeffTheMess: http://www.makerfarm.com/index.php/10-x-10-heat-bed.html
    Aug 26, 2015 at 9:47 AM - WheresWaldo: Morning

    Aug 26, 2015 at 9:54 AM - donhuevo: congratulations?
Aug 26, 2015 at 9:54 AM - WheresWaldo: I know he wants to help, but you can't just make shit up and pass it off as fact......
Aug 26, 2015 at 9:55 AM - WheresWaldo: Oh I forgot... This is the internet
Aug 26, 2015 at 9:56 AM - donhuevo: so what's he been making up?
Aug 26, 2015 at 9:56 AM - WheresWaldo: The stuff about zprobe_offset affecting every layer in a print not just layer one.
    Aug 26, 2015 at 9:57 AM - donhuevo: wow
Aug 26, 2015 at 9:57 AM - WheresWaldo: He says that using it causes a sort of 'sink in' type of affect that makes all layers stick better to each other.
Aug 26, 2015 at 9:58 AM - donhuevo: if you're going to invent a concept, better to go all in
Aug 26, 2015 at 9:59 AM - WheresWaldo: I pointed out that zprobe_offest only affects where Z0 is and he said I was entitled to my opinion, I told in in a very nice way that his was the opinion and he should stick it where it belongs.
    Aug 26, 2015 at 9:59 AM - donhuevo: lol
Aug 26, 2015 at 10:00 AM - donhuevo: if I remember, you may have taken issue with my advice before
Aug 26, 2015 at 10:01 AM - WheresWaldo: I am okay with anecdotal info, sometimes you stumble on something that is really useful, but it doesn't help the community when you spout off things that are just wrong.
Aug 26, 2015 at 10:01 AM - donhuevo: very true
Aug 26, 2015 at 10:02 AM - WheresWaldo: Don, sorry if I did, but we can have differing opinions and still be civil, I am done being civil to Frankn.
Aug 26, 2015 at 10:02 AM - donhuevo: I didn't take it personally then and don't now. I agree that making shit up is not cool
Aug 26, 2015 at 10:03 AM - WheresWaldo: What bothered me was that he choose to classify the correct meaning as opinion, especially since I can actually read Marlin code and know what it does.
Aug 26, 2015 at 10:04 AM - JeffTheMess: sounds interesting
Aug 26, 2015 at 10:04 AM - donhuevo: I mean this with love and respect... Waldo, have a Snickers [IMG]
Aug 26, 2015 at 10:05 AM - WheresWaldo: I mean, I have made shit up in the past to prove something, but at least make it feasible. Yeah Snickers!
Aug 26, 2015 at 10:08 AM - WheresWaldo: Used to do something in customer presentation (boy do I hate PowerPoint). All slides per company policy needed to have references. When I didn't have one, I would put SIMU as the reference in the proper location on the slide. Nobody ever questioned any of my slides, ever! ... SIMU (SomethingIMadeUp)
    Aug 26, 2015 at 10:09 AM - donhuevo: I like that
Aug 26, 2015 at 10:10 AM - WheresWaldo: Funny thing was that even my Director never asked what SIMU was.
Aug 26, 2015 at 10:12 AM - jbigler1986: I have left the forums alone for various reasons.
Aug 26, 2015 at 10:13 AM - WheresWaldo: Since I started my Eustathios Spider project, I am being more selective over the threads I post in.
Aug 26, 2015 at 10:20 AM - Bill Monroe: Justin, how you feeling?
Aug 26, 2015 at 10:21 AM - jbigler1986: Not to bad. Been working on and off. Email here and there. Nothing crazy
    Aug 26, 2015 at 10:21 AM - Bill Monroe: :)

Aug 26, 2015 at 10:27 AM - JeffTheMess: dammit Ustream keep breaking
Aug 26, 2015 at 10:29 AM - Bill Monroe: i never had problems with it, but found the Youtube conduit to be better
Aug 26, 2015 at 10:34 AM - JeffTheMess: jeez why does youtube now require phone numbers nothing can be private
Aug 26, 2015 at 10:34 AM - JeffTheMess: ill stick to broken ustream
Aug 26, 2015 at 10:35 AM - Bill Monroe: i never gave it a phone number
Aug 26, 2015 at 10:35 AM - Bill Monroe: give it Trump's number
Aug 26, 2015 at 10:38 AM - JeffTheMess: "Trump: I have a Robo? whats that? what is 3d printing? Am I making money from it?"

Aug 26, 2015 at 10:46 AM - daniel871: I think Frankn is one of the subtle trolls. Check his latest post in the diamond hotend.
Aug 26, 2015 at 10:46 AM - daniel871: "I think they should make it do exactly what it already does"
Aug 26, 2015 at 10:58 AM - Blake Benefield: heck of a print going there Bill
Aug 26, 2015 at 10:58 AM - Bill Monroe: anything for the cause :)
Aug 26, 2015 at 10:58 AM - Blake Benefield: I have to admit, I like the horizontal X bars instead of the vertical ones on my Hictop... seems to be a bit more stable.
Aug 26, 2015 at 10:59 AM - Bill Monroe: i'm making them a little further apart on the machine I'm building.. larger dia too
Aug 26, 2015 at 11:01 AM - WheresWaldo: Reading comprehension is not one of Frankn's strong suits.
Aug 26, 2015 at 11:02 AM - Bill Monroe: the vertical xbars arent the problem.. it's the sliding table
Aug 26, 2015 at 11:03 AM - Blake Benefield: Well having 2 to play with now it's kinda nice. Wish I could figure out how to reduce the ribbing a bit more. When I first printed with it, it seemed to kick over a full 1mm or so about 1/2" up the print. Figured out the threaded rod had a bend in it that was sort of pulling the carriage a smidge. Replaced it with the rod from the hictop and it was back in action
Aug 26, 2015 at 11:03 AM - Mike Kelly: bah tried to solder on a new smd mosfet to fix the rep2x fan circuit
Aug 26, 2015 at 11:03 AM - Mike Kelly: buggers are impossibly small
Aug 26, 2015 at 11:07 AM - Blake Benefield: that's what she said
Aug 26, 2015 at 11:10 AM - donhuevo: she can be so cruel
Aug 26, 2015 at 11:10 AM - Mike Kelly: so I guess it's time to make a Y for the working fan circuit
Aug 26, 2015 at 11:10 AM - jbigler1986: How small? I have solder some small ass points on xbox motherboards
Aug 26, 2015 at 11:11 AM - Mike Kelly: it wouldn't have been so bad if it wasn't RIGHT next to a pin header
    Aug 26, 2015 at 11:11 AM - jbigler1986: Just need a pencil tip
Aug 26, 2015 at 11:11 AM - Mike Kelly: that made it difficult to get the iron in
Aug 26, 2015 at 11:11 AM - Mike Kelly: it was smaller than any xbox trace i ever soldered to
Aug 26, 2015 at 11:12 AM - Mike Kelly: http://www.mouser.com/Search/Produc...-E3virtualkey61360000virtualkey781-2N7002K-E3 this was the fet
Aug 26, 2015 at 11:12 AM - Blake Benefield: What do you mean the problem is the sliding bed bill?
Aug 26, 2015 at 11:12 AM - Blake Benefield: momentum?
Aug 26, 2015 at 11:12 AM - Mike Kelly: inertia but yes
Aug 26, 2015 at 11:13 AM - daniel871: Yeah, I want my second printer to have a stationary build plate, so that means I'll probably be looking into building/buying a delta when I have enough money.
Aug 26, 2015 at 11:15 AM - Blake Benefield: well yeah because its the sudden change.
Aug 26, 2015 at 11:15 AM - Blake Benefield: delta's just look cool too
Aug 26, 2015 at 11:16 AM - Mike Kelly: yeah i want to build a delta eventually
Aug 26, 2015 at 11:16 AM - Blake Benefield: sort of glad that the folgertech kit fell through as a first printer kit
Aug 26, 2015 at 11:16 AM - Blake Benefield: i might still be putting it together if not lol
Aug 26, 2015 at 11:16 AM - Blake Benefield: I'm ok at soldering, but no superstar. from what I understand it requires a good bit.
Aug 26, 2015 at 11:17 AM - daniel871: I'm eyeballing this one as the kit I save up to get unless anyone knows of horrible issues with it. http://seemecnc.com/products/rostock-max-complete-kit
Aug 26, 2015 at 11:18 AM - daniel871: Minus the MC tablet, of course, because F MC.
Aug 26, 2015 at 11:19 AM - Mike Kelly: nope the rostock max v2 is top notch
Aug 26, 2015 at 11:19 AM - Mike Kelly: don't know of a better delta atm
Aug 26, 2015 at 11:22 AM - Blake Benefield: no linear rails there.. what are the tierods made from?
Aug 26, 2015 at 11:23 AM - Mike Kelly: probably abs or maybe nylon
Aug 26, 2015 at 11:23 AM - Blake Benefield: printed?
Aug 26, 2015 at 11:23 AM - Blake Benefield: or injection
Aug 26, 2015 at 11:23 AM - Mike Kelly: injection
Aug 26, 2015 at 11:23 AM - Blake Benefield: site won't load atm, i had to pull it up on ebay to see it
Aug 26, 2015 at 11:24 AM - Mike Kelly: mine was slow to load but it worked eventually
Aug 26, 2015 at 11:26 AM - daniel871: Probably should've got that to begin with to learn about 3d printing on, but spilled milk, etc.
Aug 26, 2015 at 11:30 AM - Blake Benefield: The store im at right now uses a stupid offsite web based firewall/proxy
Aug 26, 2015 at 11:30 AM - Blake Benefield: makes everything sloooowwww
    Aug 26, 2015 at 11:30 AM - donhuevo: eeewwwww
Aug 26, 2015 at 11:31 AM - Blake Benefield: Yep.
Aug 26, 2015 at 11:31 AM - Blake Benefield: I do like that that delta uses an ATx power supply
Aug 26, 2015 at 11:31 AM - donhuevo: any of the printers could
Aug 26, 2015 at 11:31 AM - donhuevo: most any
Aug 26, 2015 at 11:33 AM - Blake Benefield: yeah, mine only uses 1 12v ramp really.. I wired my led lights to another terminal
Aug 26, 2015 at 11:34 AM - Mike Glass: back from b-day lunch.

Aug 26, 2015 at 11:38 AM - Mike Glass: finally quality with you tube.
Aug 26, 2015 at 11:38 AM - Blake Benefield: I liked it better when it came with linear rails but they raised the ceiling on it by 100mm by removing it
Aug 26, 2015 at 11:38 AM - Blake Benefield: original version had 210x210 build volume... new one is 210x310

Aug 26, 2015 at 12:20 PM - donhuevo: a trinket would work too
Aug 26, 2015 at 12:20 PM - daniel871: I wish people would stop pointing out shiny new things I could put on the Robo to make it better.
Aug 26, 2015 at 12:21 PM - daniel871: PT100 sensor kits the other day, now these IGUS slide bearings.
Aug 26, 2015 at 12:22 PM - daniel871: I'm just going to get things smoothed out/calibrated in and leave the Robo as is until I can afford the Delta. :p
Aug 26, 2015 at 12:26 PM - Blake Benefield: not gonna go with the stereolithic?
Aug 26, 2015 at 12:27 PM - daniel871: Nah. Way to fn expensive.
Aug 26, 2015 at 12:28 PM - donhuevo: I just pressed them into an old carriage and I think I'm going to like them

Aug 26, 2015 at 12:36 PM - Mike Kelly: buy some switches and wire
Aug 26, 2015 at 12:37 PM - Mike Kelly: there's no way to manually tram the robo, short of shims
Aug 26, 2015 at 12:37 PM - PeterkSharma: hmm wonder what he did for that
Aug 26, 2015 at 12:37 PM - Mike Kelly: there's nothing wrong with bed height compensation (autolevel)
Aug 26, 2015 at 12:37 PM - Mike Kelly: some people just have aversion to software
Aug 26, 2015 at 12:38 PM - daniel871: Yeah, but are there kits, Peter?
Aug 26, 2015 at 12:38 PM - PeterkSharma: whats the point of upgrading the one on the robo?
Aug 26, 2015 at 12:38 PM - daniel871: Or builds that are actually well documented?
Aug 26, 2015 at 12:38 PM - Mike Kelly: upgrading what
Aug 26, 2015 at 12:38 PM - daniel871: Maybe they have a beta printer without the autolevel or something? When was autolevel put in?
    Aug 26, 2015 at 12:38 PM - Mike Kelly: apr 2014

    Aug 26, 2015 at 12:42 PM - daniel871: I'm surprised they still work.
Aug 26, 2015 at 12:42 PM - Magnumr: I saw your thread Mike, is that autolevel upgrade people talk about
Aug 26, 2015 at 12:42 PM - Mike Kelly: yes
Aug 26, 2015 at 12:42 PM - Mike Kelly: they called them R1's before they decided to call them beta's
Aug 26, 2015 at 12:42 PM - Mike Kelly: because they like to confuse people
Aug 26, 2015 at 12:43 PM - PeterkSharma: when was robo kickstarter?
Aug 26, 2015 at 12:43 PM - Magnumr: I find there was thread that listed all the upgrades, so one could take the beta and at least make it similar to what they currently sell
Aug 26, 2015 at 12:44 PM - JeffTheMess: (thats why they will never have an R2, they dont stop with R1)
Aug 26, 2015 at 12:45 PM - Magnumr: having hard time find information related to my printer,, seems everyone has moved on from early beta...
Aug 26, 2015 at 12:45 PM - Mike Kelly: robo kickstarter ended in feb of 2013

Aug 26, 2015 at 12:46 PM - JeffTheMess: Mike K had the KS and it probably better then most R1s sold today
Aug 26, 2015 at 12:46 PM - Mike Kelly: i didn't mind waiting, what annoyed me was the people who WOULDN'T SHUT UP ABOUT IT
Aug 26, 2015 at 12:46 PM - Mike Kelly: it's like "we get it, they're behind schedule and not replying to your emails asking for a refund/status/whatever"
    Aug 26, 2015 at 12:47 PM - donhuevo: original receipt 12/2/13, shipped 2/28/14

Aug 26, 2015 at 12:54 PM - Mike Kelly: it also won't really fit the beta printers since there's no screw posts in the base
Aug 26, 2015 at 12:55 PM - Mike Glass: all they do is scratch up you desk anyway
Aug 26, 2015 at 12:55 PM - daniel871: Doesn't the reservoir always have to be full if you do a top-down dlp, or are a bunch of mirrors involved?

Aug 26, 2015 at 1:39 PM - Blake Benefield: hoping to learn a thing or 2
Aug 26, 2015 at 1:39 PM - bamhm182: The task isn't to 3d model something, I could just well sketch it and receive the same grade, it's just that I'm rubbish at drawing and I figure 3d modeling is more accurate
    Aug 26, 2015 at 1:39 PM - bamhm182: Sounds fun, Blake
    Aug 26, 2015 at 1:40 PM - daniel871: Sounds expensive, Blake.

Aug 26, 2015 at 1:49 PM - Blake Benefield: they found out I had a 3D printer when I brought in those little sharpie clips. We just started this thing where we are doing sort of a "self investment" type program. so every month we have to give a report on some sort of continued education.

    Aug 26, 2015 at 1:58 PM - donhuevo: nice!
Aug 26, 2015 at 1:59 PM - Blake Benefield: Don, PCCA, LETCO, Drug Package and Apothecary Products probably have most of those things covered
Aug 26, 2015 at 2:00 PM - donhuevo: we have an account with PCCA thru our compounding pharmacy but I thought it would be nice to see what they'd sell stuff for
Aug 26, 2015 at 2:00 PM - Blake Benefield: yeah
Aug 26, 2015 at 2:00 PM - Blake Benefield: How long have they been pcca members?
Aug 26, 2015 at 2:01 PM - donhuevo: since we started compounding... maybe 5 years?
Aug 26, 2015 at 2:01 PM - donhuevo: that's where most of our ingredients are ordered
Aug 26, 2015 at 2:03 PM - Blake Benefield: Check your contract... some of them have things where they require you to order like 90% from them. Ours doesn't. So i just shop it. Order from them, Letco, Medisca, Fagron, Spectrum etc. Whoever gives me the best price
Aug 26, 2015 at 2:03 PM - Blake Benefield: MG, You should go, you should get a lot more out of it than I will.
    Aug 26, 2015 at 2:04 PM - donhuevo: I'll look into it
Aug 26, 2015 at 2:05 PM - Blake Benefield: pcca used to tell us all the time we needed to be getting more profit from our compounding. when we swapped to a few letco products boy did we
Aug 26, 2015 at 2:09 PM - bamhm182: Gotta love it when computers go ahead and restart with no warning...
    Aug 26, 2015 at 2:09 PM - donhuevo: ouch
Aug 26, 2015 at 2:10 PM - bamhm182: It looked like your files worked, MG, but then my computer finished installing AutoCAD and wiped the work I had done on the project...
Aug 26, 2015 at 2:10 PM - Mike Glass: haha shit
Aug 26, 2015 at 2:11 PM - Mike Glass: don almost done woth the car carriage design

Aug 26, 2015 at 2:25 PM - Blake Benefield: Good. PCCA is stupid expensive on most of their chemicals
Aug 26, 2015 at 2:26 PM - Blake Benefield: They do have the largest chemical catalog though.
Aug 26, 2015 at 2:26 PM - donhuevo: that's not to say our compounding manager is paying any attention to pricing
Aug 26, 2015 at 2:26 PM - donhuevo: there was also something about 3rd parties and formulas
Aug 26, 2015 at 2:28 PM - jbigler1986: What chemicals are we talking here
Aug 26, 2015 at 2:29 PM - Blake Benefield: As a PCCA member you're basically agreeing that you won't share any of their formulas with anyone who isn't also a PCCA member.
Aug 26, 2015 at 2:29 PM - Blake Benefield: Pharmaceutical Don
Aug 26, 2015 at 2:31 PM - Blake Benefield: err.. JB even

Aug 26, 2015 at 5:43 PM - Bill Monroe: ya.. usually I install them when I'm doing the wiring.. you can print regular labels and wrap them after-the-fact but they eventually unwind and fall off.. and it's considered a professional faux-pa
Aug 26, 2015 at 5:45 PM - donhuevo: varying heat shrink sizes I'm hoping?
Aug 26, 2015 at 5:45 PM - Bill Monroe: ya.. sizes from 00 to 30AWG

Aug 26, 2015 at 5:46 PM - PeterkSharma: "San diego suck. Go Seattle"
Aug 26, 2015 at 5:46 PM - PeterkSharma: i believe that was in reference to the FAA office.
Aug 26, 2015 at 5:46 PM - PeterkSharma: but cant confirm

    Aug 26, 2015 at 5:48 PM - PeterkSharma: hahahahahahahah
Aug 26, 2015 at 5:48 PM - donhuevo: it looks like my Steelers are courting Michael Vick. Nobody around here is happy about that
Aug 26, 2015 at 5:48 PM - PeterkSharma: Vick is a loose cannon. It'll be interesting to see how he does it he plays.
Aug 26, 2015 at 5:49 PM - PeterkSharma: They guy still has one of the best arms in the NFL
Aug 26, 2015 at 5:49 PM - Bill Monroe: to be honest I, and most of the folx I know, dont care one damn bit
    Aug 26, 2015 at 5:50 PM - Bill Monroe: NFL isnt a game... it's a business
Aug 26, 2015 at 5:50 PM - donhuevo: about the arm or the animal abuse
Aug 26, 2015 at 5:50 PM - Bill Monroe: I dont look at Qualcomm's stock on Mondays, and I dont care who one whatever football contest
Aug 26, 2015 at 5:51 PM - donhuevo: ah gotcha. I don't bother watching any games unless they make the playoffs

Aug 26, 2015 at 5:56 PM - Bill Monroe: its severe hot and humid here now.. sign spinning girls on corners are wearing bikinis :)
Aug 26, 2015 at 5:56 PM - Bill Monroe: i did bowden for awhile
Aug 26, 2015 at 5:57 PM - PeterkSharma: I'm making the swap with the bond tech. I'm not sure all the hardware i need to get. I have ptfe tube. The extruder and a push to fit mount.
Aug 26, 2015 at 5:57 PM - PeterkSharma: is that everything you need that isnt 3d printer
Aug 26, 2015 at 6:18 PM - nonmindo: evening gents
Aug 26, 2015 at 6:21 PM - PeterkSharma: evening man
Aug 26, 2015 at 6:22 PM - PeterkSharma: I woke up last night and saw tht post 8 min after you made it
Aug 26, 2015 at 6:22 PM - Bill Monroe: i dunno.. i have no intention of changing my extruder - I honestly dont see how my printer could improve enough to justify it.
Aug 26, 2015 at 6:23 PM - PeterkSharma: Yeah for me its a speed issue, I have constant prints that are expected over 20 hours
Aug 26, 2015 at 6:23 PM - Bill Monroe: but I do realize that some people *couJBgh* cant leave it alone and just print parts :)
Aug 26, 2015 at 6:24 PM - Bill Monroe: i mean, I have one so I can make stuff at home.. not spend my life changing it
Aug 26, 2015 at 6:25 PM - PeterkSharma: lol, i think that is wisdom speaking
Aug 26, 2015 at 6:25 PM - Bill Monroe: and speaking of making stuff.. i'm gunna go back to wiring the router :)
Aug 26, 2015 at 6:25 PM - nonmindo: hahaha word... I keep tinkering with mine, but thats because i'm new to all of this and it helps me understand the mechanics and stuff
Aug 26, 2015 at 6:25 PM - PeterkSharma: have a good night bill
Aug 26, 2015 at 6:25 PM - PeterkSharma: yeah im in the same boat.

Aug 26, 2015 at 6:26 PM - nonmindo: ohh right
Aug 26, 2015 at 6:26 PM - nonmindo: the beast extruder lol
Aug 26, 2015 at 6:26 PM - PeterkSharma: it seems to be a lot of me you and bill on the evenings haha
Aug 26, 2015 at 6:27 PM - PeterkSharma: bill are the layers seperating?
Aug 26, 2015 at 6:27 PM - nonmindo: haha for sure, im on all night till the shoutbox dies....its cold and lonely in here after midnight
    Aug 26, 2015 at 6:27 PM - PeterkSharma: i was on at like 2
Aug 26, 2015 at 6:27 PM - Bill Monroe: nope.. just camera wierdness
Aug 26, 2015 at 6:28 PM - nonmindo: bill you using a special cam software in conjunction with youtube or your layout all options with youtube stream? I got a cam and gonna set it up tomorrow along with my 12w CREE LED's
Aug 26, 2015 at 6:29 PM - nonmindo: let me re-word that better..... Are you using some software for the layout on your stream, or is the layout configured in youtube directly
Aug 26, 2015 at 6:39 PM - Mike Glass: what is robo max bed temp again?
Aug 26, 2015 at 6:40 PM - Mike Kelly: you'd be hard pressed to hit 115
Aug 26, 2015 at 6:40 PM - Mike Glass: so 110 should be ok
Aug 26, 2015 at 6:40 PM - Mike Glass: it was still at stock 85
Aug 26, 2015 at 6:40 PM - Mike Kelly: yup, just give it like a half hour to get to 110 :)
Aug 26, 2015 at 6:40 PM - Mike Kelly: 85 was a bandaid they put on when their clip connector was overheating and shorting
Aug 26, 2015 at 6:40 PM - Mike Glass: think so? its like 110 in my office now..lol
Aug 26, 2015 at 6:41 PM - nonmindo: jesus.....A Thats hot... what req's that high of temp and also any good heater upgrades?
Aug 26, 2015 at 6:41 PM - Mike Kelly: PC
Aug 26, 2015 at 6:41 PM - Mike Kelly: if it was 110C in your shop you'd be dead :)
    Aug 26, 2015 at 6:42 PM - Mike Glass: no ..lol F
Aug 26, 2015 at 6:42 PM - Mike Kelly: i mean it would be a bit quicker, maybe 20-25 minutes
Aug 26, 2015 at 6:42 PM - Mike Glass: gonna print this sainflint exturder
Aug 26, 2015 at 6:42 PM - Mike Kelly: the heaters only like 130-150W
Aug 26, 2015 at 6:43 PM - Mike Glass: it got to 95 fairly fast gonna start with 85 though
Aug 26, 2015 at 6:43 PM - Mike Kelly: well it's not a linear heatup
Aug 26, 2015 at 6:44 PM - Mike Kelly: if it takes 10 minutes to get to 100 it'll probably take another 10 to get to 115
Aug 26, 2015 at 6:44 PM - Mike Glass: nope its at 90 now
Aug 26, 2015 at 6:44 PM - Mike Glass: its fairly fast
Aug 26, 2015 at 6:44 PM - nonmindo: are there higher wattage heaters that are compat with the robo(I'm guessing as long as its RAMPS or reprap it'd work)
Aug 26, 2015 at 6:45 PM - Mike Kelly: the stock heater really pushes the limits of the ramps
Aug 26, 2015 at 6:45 PM - Mike Kelly: there are aftermarket heaters you can buy but they require a relay
    Aug 26, 2015 at 6:45 PM - Mike Kelly: http://www.makerfarm.com/index.php/heat-beds/10-x-10-heat-bed.html
Aug 26, 2015 at 6:45 PM - nonmindo: ahh ok, then I'd have to get an external PSU
Aug 26, 2015 at 6:46 PM - Mike Glass: how come on the lcd it will only go to 95?
Aug 26, 2015 at 6:46 PM - Mike Kelly: the LCD for some reason is max temp - 15C
    Aug 26, 2015 at 6:46 PM - Mike Kelly: so for a 110C limit, it's 95 max
    Aug 26, 2015 at 6:46 PM - Mike Kelly: that's why i set mine to 135
Aug 26, 2015 at 6:47 PM - Mike Glass: i upped to 95 and it climbed with in 10 seconds
Aug 26, 2015 at 6:47 PM - nonmindo: ohh thats weird on the LCD max temp reading.....kinda annoying
Aug 26, 2015 at 6:47 PM - Mike Kelly: god i know so much trivial crap about this printer
Aug 26, 2015 at 6:47 PM - nonmindo: thats why we love you MK lol
    Aug 26, 2015 at 6:47 PM - nonmindo: #RoboEncyclopedia
Aug 26, 2015 at 6:48 PM - Mike Glass: does your 1.7 take a long time to heat up MK
Aug 26, 2015 at 6:48 PM - Mike Kelly: never timed it but it does take a while
    Aug 26, 2015 at 6:49 PM - Mike Kelly: let's see though, i'll set it to 110
    Aug 26, 2015 at 6:49 PM - Mike Kelly: currently 33.8
Aug 26, 2015 at 6:50 PM - Mike Glass: strange this seemed to heat really fast, but it scorching in here, had to turn the ceiling fan off though.
Aug 26, 2015 at 6:52 PM - Mike Glass: upgrading to windows 10 takes forever...
    Aug 26, 2015 at 6:52 PM - Mike Kelly: 73
Aug 26, 2015 at 6:55 PM - bamhm182: It seems like it was pretty quick every time I tried it
    Aug 26, 2015 at 6:55 PM - Mike Kelly: 110
Aug 26, 2015 at 6:56 PM - bamhm182: I have a couple friends who I put on the technical preview who I just noticed are still on it for some reason. Not sure what that's about
Aug 26, 2015 at 6:57 PM - Mike Kelly: Yeah I'm not upgrading anytime soon
Aug 26, 2015 at 6:57 PM - PeterkSharma: yo mine got to 110 in about 15 min
    Aug 26, 2015 at 6:57 PM - PeterkSharma: the R1
Aug 26, 2015 at 6:57 PM - Mike Kelly: Win 7 is just fine by me
Aug 26, 2015 at 6:57 PM - Mike Kelly: The insulation helps a bunch
Aug 26, 2015 at 6:57 PM - PeterkSharma: yeah mines cork on the bottom
Aug 26, 2015 at 6:58 PM - PeterkSharma: MK, i got the dual bondtech today :)
Aug 26, 2015 at 6:58 PM - Mike Kelly: Awesome!
    Aug 26, 2015 at 6:58 PM - Mike Kelly: They're insane
Aug 26, 2015 at 6:59 PM - PeterkSharma: yea, now i need to the get legends pack
Aug 26, 2015 at 6:59 PM - PeterkSharma: I decided to go bowden
Aug 26, 2015 at 7:00 PM - PeterkSharma: happen to have a mount made for it? or should I start making one
Aug 26, 2015 at 7:01 PM - Mike Glass: this is for somebody else to upgrade I would never to to 10
Aug 26, 2015 at 7:01 PM - Mike Kelly: I have one on thingiversr that mimics the stock design. But I have another. Modular carriage v2 that work with the chimera/cyclops buy had swappable plates for other designs
Aug 26, 2015 at 7:01 PM - PeterkSharma: That the one martin was working on?
Aug 26, 2015 at 7:02 PM - Mike Kelly: Na
Aug 26, 2015 at 7:02 PM - Mike Kelly: This is my own creation
Aug 26, 2015 at 7:02 PM - Mike Kelly: Martin was working on something to replace the stock robo extruded
Aug 26, 2015 at 7:02 PM - PeterkSharma: ah for the direct feed. Its all making sense now
Aug 26, 2015 at 7:02 PM - Mike Kelly: I'll send you a pm here in a bit with the files

Aug 26, 2015 at 7:04 PM - Mike Kelly: What are you aiming for
    Aug 26, 2015 at 7:04 PM - Mike Glass: 100
Aug 26, 2015 at 7:05 PM - Mike Glass: this one I had ast 70 now i have the lcd at 82
Aug 26, 2015 at 7:05 PM - bamhm182: Only reason I upgraded to 10 to begin with is because I bought a 5 TB HDD and it was having issues with 7. Reviews suggested that I would not have issues with 8.1, but I would rather not run 8.1, so I decided to jump to 10
Aug 26, 2015 at 7:05 PM - Mike Glass: so must be close to 60 now
Aug 26, 2015 at 7:05 PM - bamhm182: What are these numbers referring to?
Aug 26, 2015 at 7:05 PM - Mike Glass: This is brand new laptop with 8.1 they wanted 10. took all last night to dl. and now installing.
Aug 26, 2015 at 7:08 PM - nonmindo: My desktop still has the teechnical preview too, technical preview people have to manually install the update, my alienware however upgraded from 8.1 to 10 without issue, took about 2hrs start to finish... and its WAAAAAY better than any of the 8 series and I'd say just as good as if not better than 7 (once you learn the new location of things)
Aug 26, 2015 at 7:08 PM - nonmindo: bam i think they are talking in mm/s speak
Aug 26, 2015 at 7:08 PM - nonmindo: or bed temp
Aug 26, 2015 at 7:10 PM - PeterkSharma: i decided to try my first mac out
Aug 26, 2015 at 7:11 PM - PeterkSharma: been a pc guy and linux as of recent. I'm not super impressed with the mac.
Aug 26, 2015 at 7:11 PM - PeterkSharma: but it has a really nice screen
    Aug 26, 2015 at 7:12 PM - nonmindo: I want a MBP
Aug 26, 2015 at 7:13 PM - nonmindo: but thats the only thing Apple.... I hate apple with a passion.....strong arm patent whores
Aug 26, 2015 at 7:13 PM - bamhm182: The macs are super shiny, but that's all they have going for them
Aug 26, 2015 at 7:14 PM - bamhm182: I have a macbook pro, which I only ever touch when I'm on vacation maybe once a year, then I have a Mac Mini in my garage that I have hooked up to some speakers and a crappy VGA monitor
Aug 26, 2015 at 7:15 PM - PeterkSharma: yeah, im not a fan. I wont get another one. I want to be on linux for everything but im tired of programs that have no linux support
Aug 26, 2015 at 7:16 PM - nonmindo: but OSX is based on UNIX lol
    Aug 26, 2015 at 7:17 PM - bamhm182: I'm fine with windows
Aug 26, 2015 at 7:17 PM - bamhm182: It's weird, at work, I prefer Unix problems 100 times over Windows problems, but most of what I do at home is on Windows
Aug 26, 2015 at 7:18 PM - PeterkSharma: i'm looking to prank my sister really good. She has a kid and i'm looking for a great present to get him that will annoy the crap out of her. any ideas anyone?
Aug 26, 2015 at 7:19 PM - nonmindo: ohh yea
Aug 26, 2015 at 7:20 PM - Mike Glass: anything that makes loud noises
Aug 26, 2015 at 7:21 PM - nonmindo: my parents fought with my aunt when i was little...always buying eachothers kids noisy toyst... i dunno how old the child is, but those little push things with balls in it that pop and make all sorts of noise or one of those fake lawn mowers that makes the click noise
    Aug 26, 2015 at 7:21 PM - daniel871: Sing-a-ma-jigs

Aug 26, 2015 at 7:22 PM - nonmindo: ohhhh yea the sing-a-ma-jigs are super annoying
Aug 26, 2015 at 7:22 PM - daniel871: Click that for the toy I'm talking about
Aug 26, 2015 at 7:24 PM - nonmindo: the new furbys are creep and annoying too
Aug 26, 2015 at 7:24 PM - PeterkSharma: hahahahaha these are all great ideas
Aug 26, 2015 at 7:24 PM - bamhm182: Furbys were always creepy and annoying
Aug 26, 2015 at 7:25 PM - PeterkSharma: yeah, im still not convinced furbies arent possesed by the devil himself.
Aug 26, 2015 at 7:25 PM - PeterkSharma: im not even religious
    Aug 26, 2015 at 7:26 PM - PeterkSharma: that sing-a-ma-jig is great
Aug 26, 2015 at 7:28 PM - daniel871: Here is a Journey cover using the same toys.
    Aug 26, 2015 at 7:30 PM - PeterkSharma: he's 4 and loves fireworks.
Aug 26, 2015 at 7:30 PM - PeterkSharma: i should buy him a few cases of those poppers
Aug 26, 2015 at 7:30 PM - Mike Glass: lol that is harliarious dan
Aug 26, 2015 at 7:31 PM - PeterkSharma: tell him to pop em to wake mommy up in the morning
Aug 26, 2015 at 7:32 PM - Mike Kelly: 20:1 this print jams
Aug 26, 2015 at 7:32 PM - PeterkSharma: what are you printing?
    Aug 26, 2015 at 7:32 PM - Mike Kelly: a robbie part
Aug 26, 2015 at 7:32 PM - Mike Kelly: this filament apparently sucks
Aug 26, 2015 at 7:33 PM - danzca6: those robbie parts are a nice long print as well
Aug 26, 2015 at 7:33 PM - nonmindo: MK what fil?
Aug 26, 2015 at 7:34 PM - nonmindo: (I'm still learning good brands that I can afford, so far Hatchbox seems to be the winner)
Aug 26, 2015 at 7:34 PM - Mike Kelly: it's jamming on the 1st/second layer
Aug 26, 2015 at 7:34 PM - Mike Kelly: oh the brand?
    Aug 26, 2015 at 7:34 PM - nonmindo: ya
Aug 26, 2015 at 7:34 PM - Mike Kelly: i'm not sure, i don't think it says on it
Aug 26, 2015 at 7:34 PM - danzca6: that's never good for no name filament
Aug 26, 2015 at 7:35 PM - Mike Kelly: need to check on it so i'll look
    Aug 26, 2015 at 7:35 PM - nonmindo: lol
Aug 26, 2015 at 7:36 PM - nonmindo: so far I've used eSun(seems kinda picky on settings and seems like some times you need to adjust settings for no reason)......and Hatchbox.... I was thinking about trying out JustPLA or JustABS but dunno if any good..... I dont even need to try a higher end, if i can afford it ill prolly just buy colofabb
Aug 26, 2015 at 7:37 PM - Mike Kelly: no jam yet
    Aug 26, 2015 at 7:37 PM - Mike Kelly: i think it's monoprice
Aug 26, 2015 at 7:37 PM - nonmindo: ohh and some Lexcant sample exotics, they all seem to ooze hard at no mater what temp i throw at it
Aug 26, 2015 at 7:37 PM - nonmindo: well i know monoprice cables are pretty decent..... hopefully their filament is someone as good
    Aug 26, 2015 at 7:38 PM - nonmindo: somewhat*
Aug 26, 2015 at 7:39 PM - nonmindo: MK have you tried PETG from other companies than eSun? I'm wondering if all PETG is rough, it melted my top housing on the robo and when i ran it through a PLA filament guide it started sanding off parts of PLA that contaminated the print
Aug 26, 2015 at 7:40 PM - Mike Kelly: wow i didn't have that at all
Aug 26, 2015 at 7:41 PM - daniel871: All my PET* are either Taulman or Makergeeks.
Aug 26, 2015 at 7:41 PM - nonmindo: yea id say it was like 2k grit sand paper
Aug 26, 2015 at 7:41 PM - PeterkSharma: i havent printed with colorfabb before. is it pretty nice?
Aug 26, 2015 at 7:41 PM - Mike Kelly: yeah it's pretty nice
    Aug 26, 2015 at 7:42 PM - daniel871: Pretty pricey too.
Aug 26, 2015 at 7:42 PM - Mike Kelly: i had a tough print that wasn't working, the colorfabb pla/pha dominated it
Aug 26, 2015 at 7:42 PM - PeterkSharma: mk have a webcam feed?
    Aug 26, 2015 at 7:42 PM - Mike Kelly: let's see
Aug 26, 2015 at 7:42 PM - Mike Kelly: i've been having issues with my webcams
Aug 26, 2015 at 7:42 PM - daniel871: I would stick with JustPLA or hatchbox unless you want an exotic from colorfabb.
Aug 26, 2015 at 7:43 PM - PeterkSharma: im really liking T-glase as my regular
Aug 26, 2015 at 7:43 PM - Mike Kelly: too expensive
    Aug 26, 2015 at 7:44 PM - nonmindo: @Dan thats what i was kinda thinking actually....hatchbox/colorfabb
Aug 26, 2015 at 7:45 PM - PeterkSharma: i rolled the dice on some cheap stuff and it acutally printed pretty nice.
Aug 26, 2015 at 7:45 PM - PeterkSharma: prob great for a robbie print
Aug 26, 2015 at 7:45 PM - Mike Kelly: if this print jams i'll probably do it in the $12 justpla i got
Aug 26, 2015 at 7:46 PM - PeterkSharma: is bowden more likely to jam?
    Aug 26, 2015 at 7:47 PM - daniel871: No.
Aug 26, 2015 at 7:48 PM - daniel871: Not unless you do something horribly wrong. I've had stripped filament, but no jams.
Aug 26, 2015 at 7:48 PM - Mike Kelly: more likely to ooze though
Aug 26, 2015 at 7:48 PM - PeterkSharma: does the volcano oooze much?
Aug 26, 2015 at 7:49 PM - Mike Kelly: probably
Aug 26, 2015 at 7:52 PM - nonmindo: how well does ninjaflex type filament print through v6 bowden? I wanna go dual bowden setup to take some weight of the carriage, but i heard that flexi filaments are no bueno for bowden
    Aug 26, 2015 at 7:52 PM - bamhm182: That's what I've heard too
Aug 26, 2015 at 7:53 PM - daniel871: I think that depends on the actual extruder used. A Hercustruder should have no problem, but a Wade might.
Aug 26, 2015 at 7:54 PM - Mike Kelly: i've never heard good thins about printing flex over bowden
Aug 26, 2015 at 7:54 PM - Mike Kelly: i really ought to try at some point
Aug 26, 2015 at 7:54 PM - PeterkSharma: I hear if you do flex with bowden go for 3mm
Aug 26, 2015 at 7:54 PM - nonmindo: I wanna setup the printer for efficiency and the widest range of printing....
    Aug 26, 2015 at 7:54 PM - Mike Kelly: v6 on greg's wade
Aug 26, 2015 at 7:55 PM - nonmindo: that your suggestion for me KM? If so, what about dual extrusion, i want that too lol
Aug 26, 2015 at 7:55 PM - Mike Kelly: what makes you want dual
Aug 26, 2015 at 7:55 PM - nonmindo: i thought you had to go bowden to go dual, unless you want to kill your print speed a lot
    Aug 26, 2015 at 7:56 PM - daniel871: Dual bondtech bowden v6s with pt100 sensors.

    Aug 26, 2015 at 7:56 PM - nonmindo: ^^ thiss
Aug 26, 2015 at 7:56 PM - Mike Kelly: that would be sweet
Aug 26, 2015 at 7:56 PM - nonmindo: (maybe minus the bondtech)
Aug 26, 2015 at 7:56 PM - Mike Kelly: heated enclosure
Aug 26, 2015 at 7:56 PM - PeterkSharma: what are the pt100 sensors
    Aug 26, 2015 at 7:56 PM - PeterkSharma: bondtech4lyfe
Aug 26, 2015 at 7:56 PM - Mike Kelly: lol
Aug 26, 2015 at 7:57 PM - daniel871: Also proximity sensor probe and an aluminum heated bed with PEI.
Aug 26, 2015 at 7:57 PM - nonmindo: I wanna do the PT100 sensor and an OLED display upgrade to mine.....but im afraid to poke the Marlin with updated version
Aug 26, 2015 at 7:57 PM - nonmindo: i heard that the Marlin is fragile
Aug 26, 2015 at 7:58 PM - PeterkSharma: what the difference in marlin and repetier?
Aug 26, 2015 at 7:58 PM - Mike Kelly: while you're at it drop the robo
Aug 26, 2015 at 7:58 PM - bamhm182: So I've been hearing you guys throw the Hercustruder around a lot recently
    Aug 26, 2015 at 7:58 PM - daniel871: Pretty much.
Aug 26, 2015 at 7:58 PM - bamhm182: Is that the current extruder of choice? (Aside from MK's Bondtechs?)
    Aug 26, 2015 at 7:58 PM - daniel871: I like mine.
Aug 26, 2015 at 7:59 PM - nonmindo: yea hercustruder is what i was gonna do, dual hercustruder bowden with either dual v6 w/PT100's or cyclops
Aug 26, 2015 at 7:59 PM - Mike Kelly: gregs wade is good too
Aug 26, 2015 at 7:59 PM - Mike Kelly: hercustruders nice for using geared nema 17
Aug 26, 2015 at 7:59 PM - nonmindo: I was gonna basically clone jb's setup
    Aug 26, 2015 at 7:59 PM - bamhm182: You've got Hercustruders, Dan?
Aug 26, 2015 at 7:59 PM - nonmindo: as far as layout on the outside
Aug 26, 2015 at 8:00 PM - bamhm182: By the way, any new developments with jb over the past few weeks I've been gone? Did he ever get his Robo back or buy a new one?
Aug 26, 2015 at 8:00 PM - Mike Kelly: still waiting
Aug 26, 2015 at 8:01 PM - nonmindo: BTW here is a pic with the damage the eSun PETG did to the filament slot on the top of the robo
    Aug 26, 2015 at 8:01 PM - nonmindo: https://www.dropbox.com/s/oiifyzwtqhw5r1f/20150821_011225_HDR.jpg?dl=0
Aug 26, 2015 at 8:01 PM - bamhm182: I bought the cyclops a few months ago, but I broke the ever-living-hell out of my Robo because I was being stupid and messing with the stepper drivers even though I had no idea what I was doing
Aug 26, 2015 at 8:01 PM - bamhm182: I've got them down pat now, but I'm still a little weary of trying it again
Aug 26, 2015 at 8:02 PM - bamhm182: Mine's a little torn up too, I figured that was just natural and have ignored it
    Aug 26, 2015 at 8:02 PM - Mike Kelly: that's crazy non
Aug 26, 2015 at 8:04 PM - nonmindo: yea i was afraid to let it run unattended in case the filament snagged on anything.....the abrasiveness coupled with their terrible spool winding, really had me worried, the damn spool kept clunking and turning odd angles on my spool holder....
Aug 26, 2015 at 8:05 PM - Mike Glass: shouldnt have the roll on your robo anyways, if it breaks guess where it lands..
    Aug 26, 2015 at 8:06 PM - Mike Kelly: ^
Aug 26, 2015 at 8:06 PM - bamhm182: What do you guys think about normal nema 17s on a hercustruder
Aug 26, 2015 at 8:06 PM - nonmindo: I need a better holder.... i have one but ever since I ran S3D last night my printer hasnt been printing correctly when i went back to MC cause i didnt have time to dial in my settings for S3D better.....i got it to auto level and print the the skirt then it just drops the head on the bed and sits there doing nothing
Aug 26, 2015 at 8:06 PM - Mike Kelly: seen too many shattered beds to do that
Aug 26, 2015 at 8:06 PM - bamhm182: I've got a handful of Nema 17s at the moment and would prefer not to buy more if it isn't 100% necessary.
Aug 26, 2015 at 8:06 PM - Mike Kelly: i've never heard good things about direct drive for bowden feed
Aug 26, 2015 at 8:07 PM - nonmindo: I have multiple clips holding my holder in place, but I agree, I need a better spool setup.... thats kinda why i was going to clone JB's bowden hercustruder setup, i like his side mount method
Aug 26, 2015 at 8:07 PM - Mike Kelly: no personal experience
Aug 26, 2015 at 8:07 PM - Mike Glass: im going to try it with this new one
    Aug 26, 2015 at 8:07 PM - bamhm182: https://www.youmagine.com/designs/dual-hercustruder
Aug 26, 2015 at 8:08 PM - nonmindo: I was going for one on either side
Aug 26, 2015 at 8:08 PM - bamhm182: I thought direct drive was a style, like bowden, not a motor type, like geared
    Aug 26, 2015 at 8:08 PM - Mike Kelly: that's direct feed
    Aug 26, 2015 at 8:08 PM - bamhm182: Oh, right
Aug 26, 2015 at 8:08 PM - Mike Kelly: direct drive is non-geared
Aug 26, 2015 at 8:09 PM - bamhm182: Well, in that case, any of you have a good source for geared motors?
    Aug 26, 2015 at 8:10 PM - nonmindo: http://www.omc-stepperonline.com/linear-stepper-motors-c-3.html
Aug 26, 2015 at 8:10 PM - nonmindo: that has a bunch of steppers
Aug 26, 2015 at 8:10 PM - Mike Kelly: get the high torque ones
Aug 26, 2015 at 8:10 PM - nonmindo: I was told to get the 8mm bore 5:1 ratio
Aug 26, 2015 at 8:10 PM - Mike Kelly: i like the ones i got from robotdigg
Aug 26, 2015 at 8:10 PM - nonmindo: by jb, for use with hercustruder
Aug 26, 2015 at 8:10 PM - Mike Kelly: correct non
    Aug 26, 2015 at 8:11 PM - bamhm182: http://www.robotdigg.com/product/90/Geared-Nema17-Stepper-Motor Those the ones, MK?
Aug 26, 2015 at 8:12 PM - bamhm182: They seem to be the same
Aug 26, 2015 at 8:12 PM - nonmindo: lol I bet its like LCD manufacturers, only 3 plants that actually make all of the worlds Steppers
    Aug 26, 2015 at 8:13 PM - bamhm182: Probably, haha
Aug 26, 2015 at 8:13 PM - Mike Kelly: yup those look right
Aug 26, 2015 at 8:14 PM - bamhm182: Too bad both OMC and RobotDigg look like they're from China
Aug 26, 2015 at 8:14 PM - bamhm182: Guess I'm going to be waiting for the slow boat before I try again. Oh well, probably for the better
Aug 26, 2015 at 8:15 PM - nonmindo: yea i ordered a bunch of stuff to make my own lcd controller and.....well... they wont be here till oct....but that give time for marlin firmware to get more stable so i can update it without worrying
Aug 26, 2015 at 8:16 PM - bamhm182: Remember how long RobotDigg took, MK?
Aug 26, 2015 at 8:16 PM - PeterkSharma: anyone know where i can grab the PI os to uses the pi as the motor controllers?
    Aug 26, 2015 at 8:17 PM - Mike Glass: http://www.amazon.com/Nema-Geared-S...440645658&sr=1-1&keywords=5.18+geared+stepper
    Aug 26, 2015 at 8:17 PM - Mike Glass: $20 more though
Aug 26, 2015 at 8:18 PM - Mike Kelly: i think like 2 weeks from when i placed the order, maybe less
Aug 26, 2015 at 8:18 PM - Mike Glass: but you could have it in a few days
Aug 26, 2015 at 8:19 PM - bamhm182: I think for $40 more (for two) I will take the ones from China, unless the shipping is crazy, but I doubt it will be
Aug 26, 2015 at 8:22 PM - Mike Kelly: the shipping will be a bit crazy but they quote it so...
Aug 26, 2015 at 8:23 PM - bamhm182: Think it will be more than $20?
    Aug 26, 2015 at 8:24 PM - Mike Kelly: for 1 or 2
Aug 26, 2015 at 8:24 PM - Mike Glass: if you just buy a few things from them its almost better to get them on amazon or even banggood.
Aug 26, 2015 at 8:24 PM - Mike Kelly: i dunno what the shipping would be for that many
Aug 26, 2015 at 8:26 PM - stahlee: I bought my printer 3 weeks ago. It has a manufacture date of 3/20. Does that seem old? Wasn't there an update a few months ago?
Aug 26, 2015 at 8:26 PM - Mike Kelly: nope
Aug 26, 2015 at 8:26 PM - stahlee: ok, so all good then
Aug 26, 2015 at 8:26 PM - Mike Kelly: when did they add manufacture date?
Aug 26, 2015 at 8:27 PM - Mike Kelly: yup
    Aug 26, 2015 at 8:27 PM - stahlee: it's a sticker in the hood
Aug 26, 2015 at 8:27 PM - Mike Kelly: gotcha
Aug 26, 2015 at 8:27 PM - nonmindo: you guys mind if I invite my friend up in here, he doesnt have a robo lol
Aug 26, 2015 at 8:27 PM - stahlee: Mike, you can answer this one for me.
    Aug 26, 2015 at 8:27 PM - Mike Kelly: that's fine
Aug 26, 2015 at 8:27 PM - nonmindo: printrbot 2014 maker edition and an M3D
Aug 26, 2015 at 8:27 PM - Mike Kelly: sure
    Aug 26, 2015 at 8:28 PM - Mike Kelly: m3d, gross
Aug 26, 2015 at 8:28 PM - stahlee: the firmware updates, one is ROBO3DR1V3_06112015 and the Leadscrew one is ROBO3DR1PLUSV1
Aug 26, 2015 at 8:28 PM - Mike Kelly: mmhm
Aug 26, 2015 at 8:28 PM - stahlee: what is the difference between these
Aug 26, 2015 at 8:29 PM - stahlee: if i install ROBO3DR1PLUSV1, my Z axis is like half speed
Aug 26, 2015 at 8:29 PM - Mike Kelly: the R1+ is coming with 4mm pitch lead screws, R1 uses 1.25mm
Aug 26, 2015 at 8:29 PM - stahlee: so that's a firmware for the new model.
    Aug 26, 2015 at 8:29 PM - Mike Kelly: don't use the R1+ on M8-1.25mm lead screws
Aug 26, 2015 at 8:29 PM - Mike Kelly: yah
Aug 26, 2015 at 8:29 PM - stahlee: that would explain the slow z axis
Aug 26, 2015 at 8:30 PM - bamhm182: Meaning it takes twice as many steps to get it to move the same amount of distance
Aug 26, 2015 at 8:30 PM - Mike Kelly: mmhm
Aug 26, 2015 at 8:30 PM - Blake Benefield: Its designed for the new lead screws that dont have a coupler. I.e. shaft size is different therefor rotation speed changes

Aug 26, 2015 at 8:30 PM - stahlee: thanks dude!
Aug 26, 2015 at 8:30 PM - Mike Kelly: doesn't have to do with shaft size, but rather thread pitch
Aug 26, 2015 at 8:30 PM - stahlee: i'll flash it with the V3 again
Aug 26, 2015 at 8:30 PM - Mike Kelly: sounds good
Aug 26, 2015 at 8:30 PM - bamhm182: I forget the exact name in the code, but if you search for steps, you will find a line that defines the x/y/z/e steps
Aug 26, 2015 at 8:31 PM - stahlee: I'll probably have more questions over the next couple days. My Robo was on point when I got it. It was printing beautifully
Aug 26, 2015 at 8:31 PM - Mike Kelly: sweet
Aug 26, 2015 at 8:31 PM - stahlee: then it started getting real sloppy.
Aug 26, 2015 at 8:31 PM - Mike Kelly: around more during the day but i'm around sometimes at night
Aug 26, 2015 at 8:31 PM - stahlee: I'm reading up as much as i can to tune this back up, but it's fighting me a little :)
Aug 26, 2015 at 8:32 PM - stahlee: I also stopped using matterControl
Aug 26, 2015 at 8:32 PM - stahlee: moved onto Cura
Aug 26, 2015 at 8:32 PM - stahlee: in hopes of that helping
Aug 26, 2015 at 8:32 PM - stahlee: weird it is slowly getting more sloppy on prints
Aug 26, 2015 at 8:33 PM - stahlee: I'm going to home it and use that as a base to start
Aug 26, 2015 at 8:34 PM - Mike Kelly: might be a loose set screw
Aug 26, 2015 at 8:34 PM - Mike Glass: tighten all the screws on the robo, that happens to be a big problem after awhile.
Aug 26, 2015 at 8:35 PM - nonmindo: i was wondering about the pitch on the Z.....wouldnt a 4mm ptich be less accurate than a 1.25mm or does it not matter as the motors just make up for the pitch in rotations?
Aug 26, 2015 at 8:35 PM - stahlee: will do, I'll give it a good once over
Aug 26, 2015 at 8:36 PM - Mike Kelly: 1mm thread pitch is 3200 steps per mm
Aug 26, 2015 at 8:36 PM - Mike Kelly: so 4 is 800 steps per mm
Aug 26, 2015 at 8:36 PM - Mike Kelly: so each step is 1/800mm
Aug 26, 2015 at 8:36 PM - nonmindo: ahhhh ok, pretty accurate
    Aug 26, 2015 at 8:36 PM - Mike Kelly: vs 1.25mm 1/2560
Aug 26, 2015 at 8:37 PM - Mike Kelly: so yeah, plenty accurate
Aug 26, 2015 at 8:37 PM - nonmindo: i cant even imagine how much more accurate it would be then with the babysteps enabled in the newer marlin
Aug 26, 2015 at 8:37 PM - Mike Kelly: babystepping is still using the 1/16 steppers
    Aug 26, 2015 at 8:37 PM - Mike Kelly: you'd need 1/32 steppers
Aug 26, 2015 at 8:37 PM - Mike Kelly: so that would be 6400 steps per mm,
Aug 26, 2015 at 8:37 PM - nonmindo: probably not really worth it
Aug 26, 2015 at 8:38 PM - Mike Kelly: yeah not really
Aug 26, 2015 at 8:38 PM - nonmindo: just some things going through my head, trying to rationalize different changes and such, thanks for the quick schooling
Aug 26, 2015 at 8:38 PM - Mike Kelly: sure, that's what i'm here for
Aug 26, 2015 at 8:39 PM - stahlee: even thought that may be more accurate, couldn't that introduce more slop because the motors would need to move faster
Aug 26, 2015 at 8:39 PM - Mike Kelly: steppers motors are really good at precision
Aug 26, 2015 at 8:39 PM - Mike Kelly: as long as it's appropriate torque
    Aug 26, 2015 at 8:39 PM - stahlee: ight
Aug 26, 2015 at 8:40 PM - stahlee: when you said loose set screw, which screw would that be
Aug 26, 2015 at 8:40 PM - Mike Kelly: depends which way the slop is happening
Aug 26, 2015 at 8:40 PM - Mike Kelly: hard for me to diagnose print issues without pictures
Aug 26, 2015 at 8:41 PM - stahlee: i'm getting a lot of wavyness on the y axis
Aug 26, 2015 at 8:41 PM - nonmindo: anyone ever use "synchro mesh" instead of GT2's?
Aug 26, 2015 at 8:42 PM - Mike Kelly: transmission fluid?
Aug 26, 2015 at 8:42 PM - Mike Glass: any screw on the robo, tighten it.
Aug 26, 2015 at 8:42 PM - nonmindo: no its supposedly some pully method that has 0 backlash
Aug 26, 2015 at 8:42 PM - Mike Kelly: do you mean spectra line?
Aug 26, 2015 at 8:43 PM - stahlee: Mike, I'll give it a once over and get my z axis homed and see if that gets my prints back on par. If not, I'll start snapping some photos
Aug 26, 2015 at 8:43 PM - Mike Kelly: GT2 has neglible backlash
Aug 26, 2015 at 8:43 PM - Mike Kelly: because it has teflon fibers
    Aug 26, 2015 at 8:43 PM - nonmindo: http://www.thingiverse.com/thing:15923
    Aug 26, 2015 at 8:43 PM - Mike Kelly: that's crazy
Aug 26, 2015 at 8:44 PM - Mike Kelly: first i'm hearing of this
Aug 26, 2015 at 8:44 PM - stahlee: thanks for the info. I'm off to bed. I'll work on the printer tomorrow night
Aug 26, 2015 at 8:46 PM - nonmindo: what are your initial thought on that stuff MK? think GT2 probably just fine, since you mention the backlash is already negligible
Aug 26, 2015 at 8:58 PM - Mike Glass: does not seem very stable
Aug 26, 2015 at 8:59 PM - nonmindo: thats kinda what i was thinking too, like, whats to prevent it from slipping
Aug 26, 2015 at 8:59 PM - Mike Glass: slow speed probably ok but if you turned it up to 130 bet it would slip
Aug 26, 2015 at 8:59 PM - nonmindo: i did see a few gears with a Z pattern in it on Thingiverse though
Aug 26, 2015 at 9:00 PM - nonmindo: I'll just stick with GT2's.....i'm not having any backlash (that I can tell)

Aug 26, 2015 9:05 PM - nonmindo: how would you set the various points tho to tell it?
Aug 26, 2015 9:06 PM - Mike Glass: you dont autocompensate does that in the software.
Aug 26, 2015 9:06 PM - nonmindo: ok im confused then on how to do the other points other than left to right
Aug 26, 2015 9:07 PM - Mike Glass: its a manual process move the bed back and forth and the x back and forth take level at all points
Aug 26, 2015 9:07 PM - nonmindo: yea, i get that, but how does it know that say, front left is .06mm and middle left is .08mm and back left is .081mm
Aug 26, 2015 9:08 PM - Mike Glass: the endstops activate when probing those positions
Aug 26, 2015 9:09 PM - Mike Glass: and it takes those numbers is gets when printing, if you are really out of level you can see the z screws turning all the time.
Aug 26, 2015 9:09 PM - nonmindo: mine move back and forth all the time ya
Aug 26, 2015 9:11 PM - Mike Glass: mine barely turn at all any more with the new lead screws
Aug 26, 2015 9:11 PM - nonmindo: I'm still confused.... if you move the bed to center than move carriage all the way to the left, then dial that in with the paper, then move the bed all the way forward(to back point) then turn z screw again, wouldnt that then mess up the previous level on the middle far left since you didnt actually enter in a number anywhere?
Aug 26, 2015 9:12 PM - Mike Glass: just level the best you can, has nothing to do with numbers, the firmware does all the calculations after autolevel
Aug 26, 2015 9:13 PM - Mike Glass: its just a starting point
Aug 26, 2015 9:13 PM - bamhm182: 10 minutes ago would be a good point for MK's video he had on his dropbox
Aug 26, 2015 9:14 PM - bamhm182: I wasn't really sure about the paper test either until I watched that and it cleared it up for me, unfortunately, I don't have the link handy
Aug 26, 2015 9:14 PM - nonmindo: ohh so, what you are saying is, dial in say, far left and center, then move the bed forward at the same far left point and adjust the screw again, then to the front, till there is /roughly/ the same drag on all 3 points....might need to go between each point multiple times to get one where all are about the same?
Aug 26, 2015 9:15 PM - nonmindo: I cant watch a DB link at work anyway, Boeing blocks all cloud storage solutions, but I wouldnt mind the link for future viewing
    Aug 26, 2015 9:15 PM - bamhm182: That's how my work is too
Aug 26, 2015 9:16 PM - nonmindo: its more of an average than an absolute, then once you get that all within general acceptance range, then get z-offset and the autolevel will have less compensation to do over all
Aug 26, 2015 9:16 PM - bamhm182: He's probably gone for the night, but if you shoot him a PM asking him for the video he made on testing and calibrating the robo3d for the first time, I'm sure he'd know what you're talking about and get back to you with a link
    Aug 26, 2015 9:16 PM - bamhm182: Exactly
Aug 26, 2015 9:17 PM - Mike Glass: yea sometimes it takes a few times of autolevel to learn for optimal level
Aug 26, 2015 9:17 PM - bamhm182: Seems to me that you just want the same amount of resistance when moving the paper at all 9 points of the bed. Just keep adjusting them until it feels right to you and your bed is level enough
Aug 26, 2015 9:18 PM - nonmindo: NOW it all makes sense... lol Sorry MG for seeming really dense.... It was just taking a little for me to wrap my head around it
Aug 26, 2015 9:18 PM - bamhm182: Another strategy is to use a Dial Indicator to level it
Aug 26, 2015 9:18 PM - Mike Glass: yea that works good also
    Aug 26, 2015 9:18 PM - bamhm182: http://www.thingiverse.com/thing:185643
    Aug 26, 2015 9:18 PM - bamhm182: Something like that
Aug 26, 2015 9:19 PM - Mike Glass: man I never ran my bed at 95c before its hotter in hell in the office now.
Aug 26, 2015 9:19 PM - bamhm182: You would pop it onto the rails and basically do the same adjusting that you would do with a paper leveling, only this time you have numbers
    Aug 26, 2015 9:19 PM - bamhm182: either works
Aug 26, 2015 9:20 PM - bamhm182: Why you running it so hot?
    Aug 26, 2015 9:20 PM - Mike Glass: ABfnS
    Aug 26, 2015 9:21 PM - nonmindo: eh, paper is free-ish lol
Aug 26, 2015 9:21 PM - Mike Glass: gonna try this out. http://www.thingiverse.com/thing:979113
Aug 26, 2015 9:22 PM - nonmindo: well.... in 3 weeks when ill have a free weekend.... i'll clean up the office and move the printer over and dial it in better....right now i can do atleast 4x4 prints without any issue....but anything spanning the build area diagonally, no dice
Aug 26, 2015 9:24 PM - nonmindo: hmm and what makes that good MG?
Aug 26, 2015 9:24 PM - nonmindo: or, what benefit does that design have rather
    Aug 26, 2015 9:25 PM - bamhm182: That looks pretty insane, MG
Aug 26, 2015 9:25 PM - bamhm182: I think that now that my printer is working, I'm going to print off a ton of hercustruders, buy those geared motors, and give the cyclops another go
Aug 26, 2015 9:26 PM - bamhm182: The main stumbling block in my cyclops journey, aside from not knowing jack about the steppers, was when I turned the driver up way too high and deformed one of my stepper mounts
Aug 26, 2015 9:27 PM - bamhm182: Had to take it all back apart and put the direct feed back together
Aug 26, 2015 9:27 PM - Mike Glass: well it goes through the extruder twice so might work pretty good.
Aug 26, 2015 9:28 PM - Mike Glass: it loops in then back in, uses a bic lighter striker..lol
Aug 26, 2015 9:34 PM - bamhm182: Looks like it works well, just a crazy design
Aug 26, 2015 9:37 PM - bamhm182: I also have to print out MK's modular carriage again while my printer is working well
    Aug 26, 2015 10:43 PM - nonmindo: huh
Aug 26, 2015 10:58 PM - Blake Benefield: Im printing an "eat me" cookie cutter from thingiverse
Aug 26, 2015 10:59 PM - nonmindo: well arent those just fancy lookin
    Aug 26, 2015 10:59 PM - Blake Benefield: Lol
Aug 26, 2015 11:00 PM - Blake Benefield: Pervy pharmacist at work keeps telling inappropriate jokes. Figure she'll get a kick out of it
    Aug 26, 2015 11:02 PM - nonmindo: hahahaha
Aug 26, 2015 11:05 PM - Blake Benefield: I had that going on the hictop and a mini robie robo going on the robo but the damn thing broke the other y clip
Aug 26, 2015 11:06 PM - Blake Benefield: Need to get an lcd for the robo... Ive gotten used to that. Dont like having to use the computer
Aug 26, 2015 11:08 PM - nonmindo: ugh.....thats a sore subject for me right now
Aug 26, 2015 11:09 PM - nonmindo: how do people keep breaking the y clip....I've printed like 30 things since i got mine and no problems.....got me scurred...thinking might wanna print some in case i break more
Aug 26, 2015 11:49 PM - PeterkSharma: Non if you break one they usually super glue nice in a pinch. If not I have some extras
Aug 26, 2015 11:51 PM - nonmindo: I have 1 extra, I could just print some for now, what causes them to break?
    Aug 26, 2015 11:57 PM - PeterkSharma: I heard there was a bad batch
Aug 26, 2015 11:58 PM - PeterkSharma: Yeah I would def print all extra parts
Aug 26, 2015 11:58 PM - PeterkSharma: There is a MK post on things verse that has all the parts for the robo
Aug 26, 2015 11:59 PM - nonmindo: ahh ok....Mine was a factory refurb unit, so far it seems like everything is good..... the only problem i had was the guide for the heated bed cable to prevent the cable from flexing and breaking off at the heater came unscrewed.... tried to put it back together but it was causing the bed to not move all the way so i just removed it
Aug 27, 2015 12:00 AM - nonmindo: I need a good parts fan duct for the stock carriage....I tried to print one but it was a shitty print... need to get S3D running so i can print things with good supports
Aug 27, 2015 12:00 AM - nonmindo: I have most of MK's parts in my collection on TV.... also some of the parts from marquis....specifically the x carriage with wire chain... love that thing.....
Aug 27, 2015 12:05 AM - PeterkSharma: Yeah I need to do wire chain. I currently took the cord and jammed it through the slit for filament on the top and it's been working great
Aug 27, 2015 12:05 AM - PeterkSharma: Marquis has a good fan duct
Aug 27, 2015 12:06 AM - nonmindo: marquis' duct is for his carriage, not stock :-/
    Aug 27, 2015 12:07 AM - nonmindo: putting in 6000k 6w LEDS tomorrow
Aug 27, 2015 12:08 AM - PeterkSharma: Ah. Did you do the v6 swap?
    Aug 27, 2015 12:08 AM - nonmindo: not yet
Aug 27, 2015 12:08 AM - PeterkSharma: I just took a saw to the part that wouldn't fit And cut it so it would. I have the stock fan mount stl but it's on a computer that has been packet up
    Aug 27, 2015 12:09 AM - PeterkSharma: Packed
Aug 27, 2015 12:09 AM - PeterkSharma: I think JB have it to me but j could be wrong
Aug 27, 2015 12:09 AM - nonmindo: I saw a couple on TV, gonna get the stock one for now prolly
Aug 27, 2015 12:10 AM - nonmindo: right now im learning the printer and everything, then im going to clean out office and move printer in there, get it re calibrated super accurately, then print all the parts i need for the V6 and other printed upgrades, order the V6 and some other stuff, then do all the upgrades at once that req disassembly of printer
Aug 27, 2015 12:10 AM - nonmindo: I dont really wanna have to take the thing apart multiple times
Aug 27, 2015 12:11 AM - nonmindo: hopefully by the time i get everything done, marlin 1.1 will be stable.... I plan on building my own OLED smard controller and also using a PT100 thermal sensor for the V6, but they are only working in Marlin 1.0.2+
Aug 27, 2015 12:12 AM - PeterkSharma: Yeah I have the stock one
Aug 27, 2015 12:13 AM - PeterkSharma: Just saying the more I take mine apart the more I understand what is actually doing
    Aug 27, 2015 12:13 AM - PeterkSharma: What's the point of the pt100?
Aug 27, 2015 12:14 AM - nonmindo: SUPER accurate and up to 400c
    Aug 27, 2015 12:14 AM - nonmindo: I plan on printing PC
Aug 27, 2015 12:14 AM - nonmindo: I want to make my printer as capable as possible...its kinda my "drive"
Aug 27, 2015 12:14 AM - nonmindo: I'm taking the best mods I've found and combining them in various ways
Aug 27, 2015 12:15 AM - PeterkSharma: Yeah, have you though of using a thermocouple? It's already in marlin and they usually go to 1200c
Aug 27, 2015 12:15 AM - PeterkSharma: No need to update
Aug 27, 2015 12:16 AM - PeterkSharma: As far as accuracy goes you'll never see the difference.
    Aug 27, 2015 12:17 AM - nonmindo: they lose accuracy around 300 i read
Aug 27, 2015 12:17 AM - PeterkSharma: Pled sounds pretty bad ass. Have a pic or a link or something?
    Aug 27, 2015 12:17 AM - nonmindo: http://forums.reprap.org/read.php?13,499572
    Aug 27, 2015 12:18 AM - PeterkSharma: Thermocouples?
Aug 27, 2015 12:19 AM - nonmindo: you dont HAVE to put it on a bread board, you can just get 4pin jumper wires and find the corresponding pins on the ramps... since the OLED display is super thin, im going to cut into the top housing of the robo, dead center above the bed, put the LCD there, then the rotary selector on the angled part of the right support for the printer
    Aug 27, 2015 12:19 AM - nonmindo: yea thermocouples
    Aug 27, 2015 12:22 AM - PeterkSharma: https://scontent.fsnc1-1.fna.fbcdn....71_6494116948472056404_o.jpg?efg=eyJpIjoidCJ9
Aug 27, 2015 12:23 AM - PeterkSharma: You printer can't get hot enough to notice any differnce
Aug 27, 2015 12:23 AM - PeterkSharma: Might save you a big headache with the firmware down the road
Aug 27, 2015 12:24 AM - nonmindo: gotta have the new firmware for the OLED anyway lol
Aug 27, 2015 12:24 AM - PeterkSharma: That OLed looks so cool! I can't way to see it
Aug 27, 2015 12:25 AM - PeterkSharma: Ah, are you doing leadscrewa?
Aug 27, 2015 12:26 AM - nonmindo: yea i was all gung-ho about ordering all the parts and stuff and Bill was like "do you know C++" i was like "nah, its supposedly plug and play".....he was like "did you check the attachement" (on the wiki).... i checked it and was like CRAP!! 1.0.3 lol
Aug 27, 2015 12:26 AM - nonmindo: I will do the lead screws eventually yea
