Aug 23, 2015 at 10:54 PM - nonmindo: most of my upgrades have been from his videos, barnaclues nerdgasams videos and tom's videos(toms are good general printing tutorials and stuff)
Aug 23, 2015 at 10:55 PM - PeterkSharma: Yeah, he really seems to know his shit
Aug 23, 2015 at 10:55 PM - PeterkSharma: most of my upgrades came from shoutbox hahahaha
Aug 23, 2015 at 10:55 PM - PeterkSharma: and watching news feed go by
Aug 23, 2015 at 10:55 PM - TxKent: Agree on Barnacules - which Tom?
Aug 23, 2015 at 10:55 PM - nonmindo: i like how they all explain it in both fairly simple and then more advanced terms
    Aug 23, 2015 at 10:55 PM - nonmindo: Tom....umm...whats his name...sec
Aug 23, 2015 at 10:56 PM - TxKent: Yup. I got sold on the E3D upgrade on here. Just need some time to install it.
Aug 23, 2015 at 10:56 PM - nonmindo: Thomas Sanladerer
Aug 23, 2015 at 10:56 PM - PeterkSharma: Tom is the biggest boss of all
    Aug 23, 2015 at 10:56 PM - PeterkSharma: Kent i'll link you
    Aug 23, 2015 at 10:57 PM - TxKent: Hmm.
Aug 23, 2015 at 10:57 PM - nonmindo: hehe i need to buy one still.....trying to figured out if i want to go with E3Dv6 or cyclpose
    Aug 23, 2015 at 10:57 PM - PeterkSharma: https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCb8Rde3uRL1ohROUVg46h1A
Aug 23, 2015 at 10:57 PM - nonmindo: i know if i go cyclopse ill need to go bowden but not sure if i wanna give up being able to print felxi pla
Aug 23, 2015 at 10:57 PM - TxKent: Didn't realize it was Tom of Tom's hardware.
Aug 23, 2015 at 10:57 PM - PeterkSharma: no way
    Aug 23, 2015 at 10:58 PM - PeterkSharma: serious?!
Aug 23, 2015 at 10:58 PM - nonmindo: wait..... that is tom from toms hardwarE?!
    Aug 23, 2015 at 10:58 PM - nonmindo: lol
Aug 23, 2015 at 10:58 PM - PeterkSharma: non- if you start with one v6 you can always add the second later
Aug 23, 2015 at 10:58 PM - PeterkSharma: and you can still print flexy on bowden
Aug 23, 2015 at 10:59 PM - TxKent: Well... maybe it's not THAT Tom. LOL. I jumped to a conclusion, probably wrong.
    Aug 23, 2015 at 10:59 PM - nonmindo: lol
    Aug 23, 2015 at 10:59 PM - PeterkSharma: yeah
Aug 23, 2015 at 10:59 PM - nonmindo: ohh i heard you have to have direct drive to print things like TPU or ninjaflex
Aug 23, 2015 at 11:00 PM - PeterkSharma: i was madly searching in the internet
Aug 23, 2015 at 11:00 PM - TxKent: I went with the Direct drive E3D. Just a little concerned about the effort to install it. I"m not afraid to do it, just don't know how long I'll be down
Aug 23, 2015 at 11:00 PM - PeterkSharma: Tx, I just did this about 2 weeks ago
Aug 23, 2015 at 11:00 PM - nonmindo: I know i could add a second later, but all that extra work, when you could just do it once and be done lol
Aug 23, 2015 at 11:00 PM - PeterkSharma: i do have some advice
Aug 23, 2015 at 11:00 PM - PeterkSharma: the thermistor is a bitch
Aug 23, 2015 at 11:01 PM - nonmindo: lol all the videos make it look sooooooo easy
Aug 23, 2015 at 11:01 PM - PeterkSharma: Be extra carful. I broke mine when i was tighening down the screw on the the heater bock
Aug 23, 2015 at 11:01 PM - TxKent: I got the screw in thermistor from PrintedSolid
Aug 23, 2015 at 11:01 PM - PeterkSharma: oh sweet!
Aug 23, 2015 at 11:01 PM - TxKent: I think it was Mike Kelly that recommended it.
Aug 23, 2015 at 11:01 PM - PeterkSharma: yeah good call
Aug 23, 2015 at 11:01 PM - TxKent: I'm wondering if I don't need to ugrade the zrods.
Aug 23, 2015 at 11:01 PM - nonmindo: i was like...well... i have sausage fingers... so thats not gonna happen lol..... the only reason i wont go with the screw in is it doesnt go to as hot a temp and thus u cant print as many htings....like poly carbonate
Aug 23, 2015 at 11:01 PM - PeterkSharma: do you have the R1?
Aug 23, 2015 at 11:01 PM - PeterkSharma: do the leadscrew
    Aug 23, 2015 at 11:02 PM - TxKent: I do. 2 serial #'s newer than Mike Kelly
    Aug 23, 2015 at 11:02 PM - nonmindo: I got a refurb R1v3
    Aug 23, 2015 at 11:02 PM - PeterkSharma: http://www.robo3d.com/products/lead-screw-upgrade-kit?variant=3666702213
Aug 23, 2015 at 11:02 PM - nonmindo: I'm contemplating if i wanna do that upgrade or just do the set screw z coupler upgrade
Aug 23, 2015 at 11:02 PM - nonmindo: i already have the couplers, so prolly start with those
Aug 23, 2015 at 11:02 PM - TxKent: Do we really need new steppers too?
Aug 23, 2015 at 11:02 PM - PeterkSharma: I have the R1 as well. There are few connectors on the print head that I had decided would be easier to jsut cut, solder, and heat shrink
Aug 23, 2015 at 11:03 PM - nonmindo: there is also the "robo beast" i saw the other day....dude upgraded his with 3d printed extensions and new rods increased his Z by about double capacity
    Aug 23, 2015 at 11:03 PM - PeterkSharma: I believe so, but I'm not 100%
Aug 23, 2015 at 11:03 PM - PeterkSharma: Robobeast you have to mess with the guts of the actually stepper
Aug 23, 2015 at 11:03 PM - PeterkSharma: according to MG
Aug 23, 2015 at 11:04 PM - nonmindo: ew... i dont wanna rip into a stepper.....I'm all for DIY stuff... but i also have other things i like to do with m yfree time lol
Aug 23, 2015 at 11:04 PM - TxKent: Yeah, saw the Beast - I've never printed anything bigger than my hand - don't need that --- yet.
Aug 23, 2015 at 11:04 PM - PeterkSharma: Every upgrade that I have seen for z axis has been with new motors
Aug 23, 2015 at 11:05 PM - TxKent: Interesting, ok.
Aug 23, 2015 at 11:05 PM - PeterkSharma: The v6 upgrade is totally do-able for someone who is brand new to printing
Aug 23, 2015 at 11:05 PM - PeterkSharma: just dont be an idiot, and label shit. you'll be fine
    Aug 23, 2015 at 11:05 PM - PeterkSharma: give yourself 2 hours.
    Aug 23, 2015 at 11:05 PM - PeterkSharma: should only take 1
Aug 23, 2015 at 11:06 PM - TxKent: I'm fairly new - but I'm not afraid of it. 25 years in IT, I can solder like a pro, just a bit hinky about drilling out for the pfte tube.
Aug 23, 2015 at 11:06 PM - nonmindo: oh and bout having to replace the motors when you do the Z @kent, yea the upgrade has the drive screw mounted directluy to the stepper, so you have to use that motor with the drive screw...you can also find the same ojn amazon, but they are only $3 less per, and you arent garanteed a part that will work
Aug 23, 2015 at 11:07 PM - TxKent: Thanks for that info nonmindo. I just spend a lot on vet bills, I need to save my ducats for the rest of the month
Aug 23, 2015 at 11:08 PM - nonmindo: what kind of drilling do you need to do on what?
Aug 23, 2015 at 11:09 PM - TxKent: Let me find it
Aug 23, 2015 at 11:09 PM - nonmindo: If memory serves you just get the "universal" E3Dv6 for direct drive.....i think they still include some PTFE with that one, but you shouldnt need to drill out anything, just put the ptfe into the cold end till it hits the heat break and then cut the tube just below the hobbed bolt......unless you are converting to bowden
Aug 23, 2015 at 11:10 PM - PeterkSharma: you want the PTFE
Aug 23, 2015 at 11:10 PM - PeterkSharma: I hit my hobbled bolt when i drilled it
    Aug 23, 2015 at 11:10 PM - TxKent: Step 4 on this page: http://community.robo3d.com/index.p...ormation-installation-guides-and-review.3407/
Aug 23, 2015 at 11:10 PM - PeterkSharma: it really didnt do anything terrible. But i should have just put a piece of wood or metal on the end of the whole so I would know ehen you stop drilling
Aug 23, 2015 at 11:11 PM - PeterkSharma: if you are very concerned, you can take the extruder wheel and hobbled bolt out (its like 2 bolts, very easy)
Aug 23, 2015 at 11:11 PM - PeterkSharma: out of the carriage before you drill
Aug 23, 2015 at 11:12 PM - nonmindo: hmm going over that thread now.... i havent read MK's write up yet....only seen 2 vids that say its pretty painless, no mention of drilling
Aug 23, 2015 at 11:19 PM - PeterkSharma: damn prints keep failing
Aug 23, 2015 at 11:19 PM - nonmindo: this a new thing thats happening to you?
Aug 23, 2015 at 11:21 PM - nonmindo: I had some problems this weekend and i couldnt figure them out, then i found out that the back left magnet cam un-epoxy'd from my print bed which was screqing up the bed leveling sequence
Aug 23, 2015 at 11:21 PM - PeterkSharma: naw, there is something funky going on with mine
Aug 23, 2015 at 11:22 PM - nonmindo: hmmm....make any recent firmware changes?
Aug 23, 2015 at 11:22 PM - PeterkSharma: normally the printer has a lot of plastic from the sides and crap
Aug 23, 2015 at 11:22 PM - PeterkSharma: i think my z steps might be off
Aug 23, 2015 at 11:22 PM - PeterkSharma: Harry sliced something for me today
Aug 23, 2015 at 11:22 PM - PeterkSharma: and that print failed too...
Aug 23, 2015 at 11:22 PM - nonmindo: i believe the zteps should be 2560
Aug 23, 2015 at 11:23 PM - nonmindo: I always seem to have problems when i mess with the firmware, like doing known working modifications....my case is prolly that i just dont know how to modify the standard editable settings to make printing work with the firmware settings i threw at it
Aug 23, 2015 at 11:24 PM - nonmindo: I went through marquis's firmware changes, did it twice and couldnt seem to get the printer printing correctly again, so i just reverted my changes, then added the LCD controller(still not sure this is useful)
Aug 23, 2015 at 11:25 PM - PeterkSharma: well any physical change made to printer has to be represented in the software
Aug 23, 2015 at 11:25 PM - PeterkSharma: LCD is my fav mod
Aug 23, 2015 at 11:25 PM - PeterkSharma: you dont have to have your computer plugged into it. so you can restart your comptur and dont have to wait until the print is over
Aug 23, 2015 at 11:26 PM - nonmindo: that is nice, but i have this raspberry pi just laying around lol.....can make that into octoprint or printtopeer controller
    Aug 23, 2015 at 11:26 PM - PeterkSharma: sure
Aug 23, 2015 at 11:26 PM - PeterkSharma: yeah i have 2 but ididnt want to deal with the headache
Aug 23, 2015 at 11:27 PM - nonmindo: also found the app that the "robo beast" guy used on his android and messed with that this weekend, that was kinda cool, but it doesnt load stl's
Aug 23, 2015 at 11:27 PM - PeterkSharma: the lcd is pretty damn close to plug and play
Aug 23, 2015 at 11:28 PM - TxKent: Yup. Unless you have something plugged into the port it's supposed to go on. I had some trial and error to get mine up and running. Then I got cute and didn't have enough cooling on the RAMPS. Put a 92mm fan on it now.
Aug 23, 2015 at 11:28 PM - nonmindo: i made the mistake of buying cheap.... i got the geeetech full graphics lcd based on the "reprap discount full graphics" and while yes, it was quite simple to setup..... the one i got is garbage.....you have to view it at extreme vertical angle to see the display at all, the contrast potentiometer on the PCB just shorts the Arduino/RAMPS.....
    Aug 23, 2015 at 11:29 PM - TxKent: bummer
Aug 23, 2015 at 11:30 PM - nonmindo: the contrast setting on the software of the controller itself does nothing...lol...... yea i had to disconnect the built in micro sd card adapter on mine to get the lcd installed.....turned over the printer and took off the bottm and was like ok lets plug this in right......WTF IS THAT ITS NOT SUPPOSED TO BE THERE ACCORDING TO VIDEO!!!???
Aug 23, 2015 at 11:31 PM - nonmindo: traced the ribbon and was like.... "ohh...derp, they had to connect that micro sd card slot somewhere i guess"
Aug 23, 2015 at 11:32 PM - TxKent: Oh, is that what it is? I just ended up switching ports

Aug 23, 2015 at 11:32 PM - nonmindo: yea it was just the micro sd adapter
Aug 23, 2015 at 11:32 PM - nonmindo: it LOOKS like it goes to the heated bed, but i traced it like 4 times
Aug 23, 2015 at 11:33 PM - nonmindo: either of you season your hot end? I plan on doing it, but wondering what improvements you saw after doing it, like what problem did it cure
Aug 23, 2015 at 11:34 PM - PeterkSharma: i have never needed to
Aug 23, 2015 at 11:34 PM - PeterkSharma: but i might try it out
Aug 23, 2015 at 11:34 PM - TxKent: With oil? If I don't run an oiler I get underextrusion
Aug 23, 2015 at 11:34 PM - PeterkSharma: i dont see how it could make anything worse
Aug 23, 2015 at 11:35 PM - nonmindo: i dont have under extrusion.....i have another issue that is bothering me, my unit doesnt do radius very well
Aug 23, 2015 at 11:35 PM - nonmindo: rounded corners and stuff are always like a little bump out from where it should be
Aug 23, 2015 at 11:36 PM - PeterkSharma: print first layer slower
Aug 23, 2015 at 11:36 PM - PeterkSharma: is what I do and change the acceleration
Aug 23, 2015 at 11:36 PM - PeterkSharma: and that fixed it for me
Aug 23, 2015 at 11:37 PM - nonmindo: but it happens on more than just the first layer
Aug 23, 2015 at 11:38 PM - nonmindo: the 2 problems ive been getting the most is that and i was printing some "engrams" from the game destiny they are like 10 sided dice, and the bottom half of the print the diavonal lines didnt come out straight they seemed like they melted up at the point, and then every single one of them the 8th from the top layer looks like it skipped a layer and the print would finish 2 layers before complete....(i ran the STL through nettfabb too)....
Aug 23, 2015 at 11:39 PM - nonmindo: trying to figure out if it was just a model issue or if it is a MC issue, or printer setting issue
Aug 23, 2015 at 11:39 PM - nonmindo: my accel is down to i believe 700 now
Aug 23, 2015 at 11:39 PM - nonmindo: I wish i had some pics to show you guys
Aug 23, 2015 at 11:42 PM - nonmindo: so with the rounding its kinda like this
    Aug 23, 2015 at 11:42 PM - nonmindo: http://d33v4339jhl8k0.cloudfront.ne.../54be78ebe4b0512429884346/file-NjVxvkclZQ.jpg
Aug 23, 2015 at 11:46 PM - TxKent: That's above my pay-grade. I mostly come here to see what other people's ideas are to try to fix my own problems. :)
Aug 23, 2015 at 11:46 PM - PeterkSharma: yeah that a MK question
Aug 23, 2015 at 11:46 PM - nonmindo: lol me too but im on at crazy hours lol
Aug 23, 2015 at 11:46 PM - nonmindo: most of the time miss MK
Aug 23, 2015 at 11:47 PM - PeterkSharma: maybe MG or bill too
Aug 23, 2015 at 11:47 PM - nonmindo: or any of the others that know whats what
Aug 23, 2015 at 11:47 PM - PeterkSharma: send them a PM like i sent you
Aug 23, 2015 at 11:47 PM - nonmindo: i will when i have actual photos of my prints, so i don't waste their time
Aug 23, 2015 at 11:47 PM - nonmindo: here i dont mind just throwing stuff out there
Aug 23, 2015 at 11:47 PM - TxKent: I shouldn't even be online now. Supposed to be asleep, but my guts aren't playing nice tonight.
Aug 23, 2015 at 11:50 PM - nonmindo: aww i know thta feeling
    Aug 23, 2015 at 11:50 PM - nonmindo: that*
Aug 23, 2015 at 11:50 PM - nonmindo: btw just got done reading about the drilling for the V6.....
Aug 23, 2015 at 11:52 PM - TxKent: What do you think? I didn't realize that's not in all of the instructions
Aug 23, 2015 at 11:52 PM - nonmindo: makes sense
Aug 23, 2015 at 11:52 PM - nonmindo: i believe there is a diff cold end you could print that already has the right dimensions
Aug 23, 2015 at 11:53 PM - nonmindo: lemme see if i can find it
    Aug 23, 2015 at 11:56 PM - nonmindo: lol
Aug 23, 2015 at 11:56 PM - nonmindo: nope only part of it
Aug 23, 2015 at 11:56 PM - nonmindo: i was thinking of this vid
Aug 23, 2015 at 11:57 PM - TxKent: "Hello Internet!"
Aug 23, 2015 at 11:58 PM - TxKent: It's ok, I'll do it, just have to get the right sized bit and go slow.
    Aug 23, 2015 at 11:58 PM - nonmindo: lol
Aug 23, 2015 at 11:58 PM - TxKent: Thx for looking.
Aug 23, 2015 at 11:58 PM - nonmindo: np... i found one thats kinda cool, dual extruder single stepper
    Aug 24, 2015 at 12:01 AM - PeterkSharma: i want a bondtech
    Aug 24, 2015 at 12:02 AM - nonmindo: bondtech?
    Aug 24, 2015 at 12:03 AM - nonmindo: ohhhh
Aug 24, 2015 at 12:03 AM - nonmindo: i think tom did a review on it
Aug 24, 2015 at 12:03 AM - nonmindo: yea... he did....
    Aug 24, 2015 at 12:03 AM - PeterkSharma: yeah
Aug 24, 2015 at 12:03 AM - PeterkSharma: this is pretty frikking amazing
    Aug 24, 2015 at 12:03 AM - PeterkSharma:
    Aug 24, 2015 at 12:06 AM - nonmindo: lol
Aug 24, 2015 at 12:18 AM - TxKent: back to bed. Hopefully for good. Night
    Aug 24, 2015 at 12:19 AM - nonmindo: laters
Aug 24, 2015 at 4:18 AM - Bill Monroe: good morning
Aug 24, 2015 at 4:19 AM - Blake Benefield: Morning bill
Aug 24, 2015 at 4:20 AM - Blake Benefield: Go solidworks loaded last night. Gotta learn to use it now. Its not photoshop lol
Aug 24, 2015 at 4:36 AM - Bill Monroe: morning
Aug 24, 2015 at 4:37 AM - Bill Monroe: i'ver been using Solidworks since 1997
Aug 24, 2015 at 4:37 AM - Bill Monroe: exclusively
Aug 24, 2015 at 4:38 AM - Bill Monroe: de-installed Autocrud the same day
Aug 24, 2015 at 4:40 AM - Blake Benefield: Lol. I have inventor fusion but i dont know how to use it either really
Aug 24, 2015 at 4:40 AM - Blake Benefield: Do you size check stl files before printing?
Aug 24, 2015 at 4:41 AM - Blake Benefield: Ive had a few things print too small
Aug 24, 2015 at 4:45 AM - Bill Monroe: it's rare that I load an stl that I didnt design so no, I dont usually check them
Aug 24, 2015 at 4:45 AM - Blake Benefield: Was worried i was out of calibration but then ive had some that were perfect
Aug 24, 2015 at 4:46 AM - Bill Monroe: but what you're experinceing sounds like loading a model saved in different units than loaded
Aug 24, 2015 at 4:47 AM - Bill Monroe: but I can be certain
Aug 24, 2015 at 4:48 AM - Bill Monroe: cant be certain
Aug 24, 2015 at 4:51 AM - Bill Monroe: This is an stl that I didnt design, but I did modify it.. it's for the robbie: [IMG]

    Aug 24, 2015 at 5:05 AM - jbigler1986: morning
Aug 24, 2015 at 5:05 AM - Bill Monroe: Justin
Aug 24, 2015 at 5:07 AM - jbigler1986: very nice print. the logo came out really good too
Aug 24, 2015 at 5:08 AM - Bill Monroe: heh thanks.. my printer is uber "dialed-in" now..
Aug 24, 2015 at 5:08 AM - Bill Monroe: i've not changed a setting in weeks
    Aug 24, 2015 at 5:09 AM - jbigler1986: you turned off autolevel didn't you?
Aug 24, 2015 at 5:09 AM - Bill Monroe: yes, yes I did and I'm not turning it back on
Aug 24, 2015 at 5:10 AM - jbigler1986: what gcode did you use for the offset?
Aug 24, 2015 at 5:10 AM - Bill Monroe: hang on a sec
Aug 24, 2015 at 5:12 AM - Bill Monroe: I got to the center of the bed and do a G30 (single probe), then a G92 to offset it the distance to the point where the sensor trips.. in my case Z-.85
Aug 24, 2015 at 5:13 AM - Bill Monroe: I shimmed the bed to it's level in Y, and I am VERY careful not to put any pressure on it since it's such a freeking weak design it can be easily tweaked
Aug 24, 2015 at 5:15 AM - Bill Monroe: but that's a problem every reprap clone has
    Aug 24, 2015 at 5:16 AM - jbigler1986: So G30
Aug 24, 2015 at 5:17 AM - Bill Monroe: yes.. you need the G92 also.
    Aug 24, 2015 at 5:17 AM - jbigler1986: G92 Z-.85 (this is the offset?)
Aug 24, 2015 at 5:17 AM - Bill Monroe: yes, it is
Aug 24, 2015 at 5:18 AM - jbigler1986: got it. Going to try that on the work robo when it comes in today
Aug 24, 2015 at 5:18 AM - Bill Monroe: sweet
Aug 24, 2015 at 5:18 AM - Bill Monroe: i've used several different filaments each in several colors.. all PLA..
Aug 24, 2015 at 5:19 AM - Bill Monroe: no changes to the machine at all. perfect first layers wach time
Aug 24, 2015 at 5:19 AM - Bill Monroe: each time
    Aug 24, 2015 at 5:19 AM - jbigler1986: just comment or remove M565?
Aug 24, 2015 at 5:19 AM - Bill Monroe: you can comment it if you dont want to lose it
    Aug 24, 2015 at 5:20 AM - jbigler1986: so add that code after G28?
Aug 24, 2015 at 5:20 AM - Bill Monroe: comment-out the G29 too since it will only get overridden
    Aug 24, 2015 at 5:20 AM - Bill Monroe: yes, after G28
    Aug 24, 2015 at 5:21 AM - jbigler1986: sweet
Aug 24, 2015 at 5:21 AM - Bill Monroe: this closely emulates the same process that's been used by robotic machinery for decades

Aug 24, 2015 at 5:22 AM - Bill Monroe: it doesnt rely on software to fix a hardware problem :)
Aug 24, 2015 at 5:27 AM - daniel871: XT seemed to print pretty easily overnight last night. Why is my Robo doing everything backwards from everyone else?
Aug 24, 2015 at 5:27 AM - Bill Monroe: with a robo.. successful printing is backwards :)
Aug 24, 2015 at 5:27 AM - Bill Monroe: mine does XT fine too..
Aug 24, 2015 at 5:28 AM - daniel871: Who was it that said XT was a real pain to work with?
Aug 24, 2015 at 5:28 AM - Bill Monroe: but the model has to be tailored for XT and it's realtivel agressive shrink
    Aug 24, 2015 at 5:28 AM - daniel871: Ah.
Aug 24, 2015 at 5:28 AM - Bill Monroe: Mike Glass, but I'm pretty sure he's just having fun with hating it :)
Aug 24, 2015 at 5:28 AM - daniel871: Simple cubes like the CES models we've been given so far shouldn't have an issue, right?
Aug 24, 2015 at 5:29 AM - JeffTheMess: morning robonauts
Aug 24, 2015 at 5:29 AM - Bill Monroe: it might.. the realtively dense corners might tend to pull up
Aug 24, 2015 at 5:30 AM - daniel871: I posted a pic in the CES thread of what the Robo was doing before heading to work. It seemed to be holding onto the bed pretty well.
Aug 24, 2015 at 5:30 AM - Bill Monroe: lots and lots of cooling air would help
Aug 24, 2015 at 5:31 AM - daniel871: Now watch it turn out that what is actually happening is that the bed is being pulled with the shrinking XT and I'll come home to a shattered bed or something when it finishes cooling.
Aug 24, 2015 at 5:31 AM - Bill Monroe: oh man, that would be something to write about :)
Aug 24, 2015 at 5:32 AM - daniel871: I will be so pissed if that happens.
Aug 24, 2015 at 5:32 AM - daniel871: Hopefully the PEI will separate from the glass first.
    Aug 24, 2015 at 5:32 AM - Bill Monroe: i think you'll be fine
Aug 24, 2015 at 5:33 AM - daniel871: How did this look, anyway? [IMG]
Aug 24, 2015 at 5:34 AM - daniel871: I'm a little confused as to the temp drop error not happening at the temp shown there, too.
    Aug 24, 2015 at 5:35 AM - Bill Monroe: ya, that's interesting
Aug 24, 2015 at 5:35 AM - daniel871: I'm guessing the second nozzle showing such a warm temp is only helping the print (assuming that's ambient temp seeping into the second nozzle).
Aug 24, 2015 at 5:36 AM - Bill Monroe: I dunno. I've stumbled on so many issues in Marlin and the LCD interface I'm surprised it works at all anymore
Aug 24, 2015 at 5:36 AM - daniel871: Unless temp fall error is a function of temperature change over a given period of time vs. total temp change.
Aug 24, 2015 at 5:37 AM - daniel871: Yeah, I'm still stumped by why the nozzle for tool 1 refuses to heat beyond 210 or so, while tool 0 can do whatever all day long.
Aug 24, 2015 at 5:38 AM - Bill Monroe: probably just a line in the firmware somewhere that needs changed
Aug 24, 2015 at 5:38 AM - daniel871: But I also haven't exactly gone digging through the arduino code looking to see if there is anything about it in any of the files.
    Aug 24, 2015 at 5:38 AM - Bill Monroe: <hi5>
    Aug 24, 2015 at 5:38 AM - daniel871: lol
Aug 24, 2015 at 5:39 AM - daniel871: I bet there is a coded limit that was never bothered by Robo since there is only the one hotend on the stock setup.
Aug 24, 2015 at 5:39 AM - Bill Monroe: i've changed mine so much most may not recognize it
Aug 24, 2015 at 5:39 AM - daniel871: And I never went looking for it since theoretically you just change to Motherboard 34 and move some wires around.
Aug 24, 2015 at 5:40 AM - Bill Monroe: ya, theres more than that to do
Aug 24, 2015 at 5:41 AM - Bill Monroe: i stopped cleaning it up further.. got other things to accomplish and the robo has a termination date so not much benefit in spending anymore time on it
    Aug 24, 2015 at 5:41 AM - daniel871: Until/Unless you win the plus model?
Aug 24, 2015 at 5:42 AM - Bill Monroe: eBay 5 minutes after
    Aug 24, 2015 at 5:42 AM - daniel871: :p
Aug 24, 2015 at 5:42 AM - Bill Monroe: actually I'd give it to one of my sons.. perfect match
Aug 24, 2015 at 5:44 AM - daniel871: After making sure nothing on it was broken, right?
    Aug 24, 2015 at 5:44 AM - daniel871: :p
Aug 24, 2015 at 5:45 AM - Bill Monroe: naw, he gets off on debugging
Aug 24, 2015 at 5:45 AM - daniel871: I meant more like the usual broken Y-belt clips and stuff.
Aug 24, 2015 at 5:45 AM - daniel871: "Here's your printer and the spare parts I usually have to keep an eye on, have fun!"
Aug 24, 2015 at 5:46 AM - Bill Monroe: yup. more than that.. I used to have him hang out in my lab during school breaks.. he was more prolific than the interns and baby engineers
Aug 24, 2015 at 5:47 AM - Bill Monroe: very observant, logical.. good at thinking things through
    Aug 24, 2015 at 5:54 AM - PeterkSharma: I think I'm going to try the volcano/bondtech
Aug 24, 2015 at 5:55 AM - Bill Monroe: OK
Aug 24, 2015 at 5:55 AM - PeterkSharma: Been looking at extruder options for a while
Aug 24, 2015 at 5:55 AM - PeterkSharma: Have any thoughts/experience with that set up?
Aug 24, 2015 at 5:56 AM - Bill Monroe: not really.. it just depends on what you want to make
Aug 24, 2015 at 5:56 AM - daniel871: Tom whats-his-name on Youtube thinks the Volcano is probably the only reason to have a Bondtech extruder, for what that's worth.
Aug 24, 2015 at 5:57 AM - daniel871: For the huge nozzle/high feed rate applications.
Aug 24, 2015 at 5:58 AM - daniel871: I liked the volcano for PET+/T-glase, but not so much for softer filaments like PLA (kept stripping, but then, I don't have a Bondtech either).
Aug 24, 2015 at 5:59 AM - jbigler1986: bontech really isn't worth the price. hercustruder with a geared stepper will do just fine. Although after the parts it will be around $50
Aug 24, 2015 at 6:00 AM - jbigler1986: as you can see in daniels pic. Printing fine without the bondech. So are thousands of other people out there
Aug 24, 2015 at 6:01 AM - PeterkSharma: Yeah I have the Vulcano already. I was looking at the hercustruder. But couldn't find many reviews or details on it last night
Aug 24, 2015 at 6:02 AM - PeterkSharma: Large prints in T-glad is the plan
Aug 24, 2015 at 6:04 AM - jbigler1986: I tried probably 10 or 15 extruders and moddifying them and such. Hercustruder was the best and easiest
    Aug 24, 2015 at 6:04 AM - PeterkSharma: Is hercustruder a Bowden?
    Aug 24, 2015 at 6:05 AM - jbigler1986: yeah
Aug 24, 2015 at 6:05 AM - Blake Benefield: JB, when does your machine at work arrive?
Aug 24, 2015 at 6:05 AM - Blake Benefield: or when do you get your machine back?
Aug 24, 2015 at 6:05 AM - PeterkSharma: Is the direct to Bowden an easy change. I understand what the Bowden is but have never modify a/any cold end
Aug 24, 2015 at 6:06 AM - jbigler1986: well work one arrives today. personal one I should have back this weekend
Aug 24, 2015 at 6:07 AM - jbigler1986: It's an easy change to actually get it setup. To actually get it printing good takes some time
Aug 24, 2015 at 6:14 AM - Blake Benefield: Had to fix 4 component failures on the hiccup this weekend jb
Aug 24, 2015 at 6:15 AM - Bill Monroe: sounds like it's appropriately named :)
Aug 24, 2015 at 6:20 AM - Blake Benefield: the Y axis end stop is attached to the y belt carriage and hits the nema motor when it travels. The back and forth of the printing basically works the wire back and forth until it breaks off. I've fixed it by actually wire tying it to the carriage to eliminate it flexing back and forth at the solder joint
Aug 24, 2015 at 6:21 AM - Blake Benefield: the other thing that I found (my fault) was the first night I had the printer I printed a small part to test it. Then i unplugged it without giving it time to cool down... apparently the solder on the fan for the hot head melted and flowed into each other and that fan hasn't been working since. I just figured it out
Aug 24, 2015 at 6:22 AM - Blake Benefield: Then I printed a power supply cover and wired it up.. Now I officially have an on off switch.
    Aug 24, 2015 at 6:23 AM - jbigler1986: sounds about right for a $400 printer. Easy fixes
Aug 24, 2015 at 6:25 AM - Blake Benefield: It is
Aug 24, 2015 at 6:26 AM - Blake Benefield: I'm considering printing a part to move the y stop to a stationary point on the nema. would prevent any movement and make wire management easier. if i did that the only one that moves is the x stop thats attached to the z axis
Aug 24, 2015 at 6:27 AM - Blake Benefield: sub 400 jb.. paid 360 shipped
    Aug 24, 2015 at 6:30 AM - jbigler1986: i thought it was $418
Aug 24, 2015 at 6:33 AM - Blake Benefield: on amazon. ebay was 360
Aug 24, 2015 at 6:34 AM - jbigler1986: oh yeah. forgot you got it from ebay
Aug 24, 2015 at 6:34 AM - Blake Benefield: seller on that was great. it shipped monday, I had it wednesday
Aug 24, 2015 at 6:35 AM - Blake Benefield: I ordered is saturday afternoon after robo didn't take my $530 offer on a refurb
    Aug 24, 2015 at 6:40 AM - jbigler1986: Weird they wouldn't take $530
Aug 24, 2015 at 6:45 AM - Blake Benefield: Yeah... then a week later Harry was in here like "just offer $499, they'll take it"
Aug 24, 2015 at 6:48 AM - Bill Monroe: back
Aug 24, 2015 at 6:49 AM - Bill Monroe: I seem to have misplaced my heatshrink printer...
Aug 24, 2015 at 6:49 AM - Blake Benefield: heatshrink printer... as in you print your own heatshrink tubing?
Aug 24, 2015 at 6:49 AM - Bill Monroe: yup. for wire labeling
Aug 24, 2015 at 6:50 AM - Bill Monroe: I think I took it out to my hanger when I was rewiring the plane... think I'll bust out the vintage harley and take it for a ride
Aug 24, 2015 at 6:52 AM - Bill Monroe: oh wait. Blake, it prints black lettering on white heatshrink.. it doesnt actually MAKE heatshrink
Aug 24, 2015 at 6:52 AM - Bill Monroe: lets not forget the original definition of "printer"
Aug 24, 2015 at 7:03 AM - Blake Benefield: No i get that. still pretty cool
Aug 24, 2015 at 7:04 AM - Blake Benefield: I use a dymo and just create wraps
Aug 24, 2015 at 7:04 AM - Blake Benefield: but they tag our from the wire.
Aug 24, 2015 at 7:06 AM - Blake Benefield: I'm glad I'm not the only one that unorganized wires bothers.
Aug 24, 2015 at 7:07 AM - Blake Benefield: its my number 1 compaint about the hictop with the open controller board and wires everywhere
Aug 24, 2015 at 7:10 AM - Mike Kelly: morning
Aug 24, 2015 at 7:14 AM - JeffTheMess: sup Mike
Aug 24, 2015 at 7:28 AM - Mike Kelly: slow mornin eh
Aug 24, 2015 at 7:30 AM - Blake Benefield: YUP
    Aug 24, 2015 at 7:30 AM - JeffTheMess: yep
Aug 24, 2015 at 7:30 AM - Mike Kelly: i like the jig she uses to make the finger joints
Aug 24, 2015 at 7:42 AM - Mike Glass: nice MK,, morning

Aug 24, 2015 at 7:42 AM - Mike Kelly: nuts my camera rotated, now i can't really see how the print is going
Aug 24, 2015 at 7:43 AM - Mike Glass: what ya printing
Aug 24, 2015 at 7:44 AM - Mike Kelly: some robbie parts
Aug 24, 2015 at 7:44 AM - Harry: Blake when did you submit that?
    Aug 24, 2015 at 7:44 AM - Harry: The $530 offer?
Aug 24, 2015 at 7:47 AM - Mike Glass: haha I like her sander she uses in a vice..doh
Aug 24, 2015 at 7:48 AM - WheresWaldo: Morning, hope everyone's weekend was good.
Aug 24, 2015 at 7:49 AM - Mike Kelly: right mike? i mean i've seen that done before but it does make me a tad nervous
Aug 24, 2015 at 7:51 AM - PeterkSharma: Is it possible to do one Bowden one direct?
Aug 24, 2015 at 7:51 AM - Mike Kelly: yup
Aug 24, 2015 at 7:52 AM - PeterkSharma: Ramps board can handle one more motor?
Aug 24, 2015 at 7:53 AM - Mike Kelly: [IMG]
Aug 24, 2015 at 7:53 AM - Mike Kelly: yes
Aug 24, 2015 at 7:54 AM - Mike Kelly: the ramps has 2 extruder outputs
Aug 24, 2015 at 7:56 AM - PeterkSharma: My what's your take on hercustruder vs bondtech?
    Aug 24, 2015 at 7:56 AM - PeterkSharma: MK*
Aug 24, 2015 at 7:56 AM - Mike Kelly: hmm
Aug 24, 2015 at 7:56 AM - Mike Kelly: the bondtech provides an insane amount of force, but i don't necessarily know it's worth the premium
Aug 24, 2015 at 7:57 AM - Mike Kelly: i think i would have stuck with the hercustruder had i figured out earlier i had a bad stepper driver
Aug 24, 2015 at 7:57 AM - PeterkSharma: I have a volcano lying around, thinking of going bondtech so I don't feel so bad about not taking the volcano out of the package
Aug 24, 2015 at 7:58 AM - Mike Glass: I like the bic one you found wonder if that one works good.
Aug 24, 2015 at 7:58 AM - PeterkSharma: Can you gear the standard extruder larger to keep up with the volcano?
Aug 24, 2015 at 7:59 AM - Mike Kelly: the volcano probably requires lower pressure so you'd want a smaller gearing to keep up with the high speeds
Aug 24, 2015 at 7:59 AM - Mike Kelly: you could probably get away with just a higher torque nema 17 (like 68oz-in)
Aug 24, 2015 at 7:59 AM - Mike Kelly: but i've never used a volcano
Aug 24, 2015 at 8:00 AM - PeterkSharma: Yeah I think it was Daniel this morning saying he was having a filament gripping problem with the volcano
Aug 24, 2015 at 8:00 AM - Blake Benefield: I don't remember exactly Harry, it was toward the end of July I think. Did it twice.
Aug 24, 2015 at 8:01 AM - Blake Benefield: offered 470 (+30 shipping for $500 total) and then offered $520+shipping for 550 total. made that offer twice.
Aug 24, 2015 at 8:01 AM - PeterkSharma: I was thinking of going dual bondtech with ledgends pack with volcano tip
Aug 24, 2015 at 8:01 AM - Mike Kelly: sounds rad
Aug 24, 2015 at 8:01 AM - Mike Kelly: i bet you'd get really high speeds with that
Aug 24, 2015 at 8:01 AM - PeterkSharma: Yeah, might be a fun option to explore for the community
Aug 24, 2015 at 8:02 AM - Mike Kelly: if you have the money for it would be a valuable data point :)
Aug 24, 2015 at 8:02 AM - PeterkSharma: Yeah, the prints I want to do are usually 30 hours. So it might actually be the best option
Aug 24, 2015 at 8:03 AM - PeterkSharma: Yeah I was looking at that or doing the kraken. But decided against the smoothiebiard swap
Aug 24, 2015 at 8:03 AM - daniel871: I was using the stock Wade with the volcano when I was having my problems, though. I'd think a Bondtech would be able to churn out whatever you wanted to do with the volcano.
Aug 24, 2015 at 8:03 AM - Mike Kelly: yeah i don't think the kraken is worth it
Aug 24, 2015 at 8:03 AM - Mike Kelly: i like that it's water cooled but that's about it
Aug 24, 2015 at 8:04 AM - PeterkSharma: There is a 3d printable water cooling kit for v6
Aug 24, 2015 at 8:04 AM - daniel871: Imagine it. 1.2mm nozzle and insane .6 layer heights at whatever speeds.
Aug 24, 2015 at 8:04 AM - Mike Kelly: e3d has hinted at a water cooled HX for the chylops
Aug 24, 2015 at 8:04 AM - Mike Kelly: that would be crazy daniel, almost want some volcanos to do that
Aug 24, 2015 at 8:05 AM - daniel871: I'm thinking you'd have to stick with PET+/T-Glase/XT/something more durable than PLA to really enjoy it though.
    Aug 24, 2015 at 8:05 AM - daniel871: BluPrint.
Aug 24, 2015 at 8:05 AM - Mike Kelly: i liked the PETG
Aug 24, 2015 at 8:05 AM - Mike Kelly: i hope they can sell it as opaque
Aug 24, 2015 at 8:05 AM - Mike Kelly: or more colors
Aug 24, 2015 at 8:05 AM - Mike Kelly: like green
Aug 24, 2015 at 8:05 AM - PeterkSharma: With dual extruder you can really print anything
Aug 24, 2015 at 8:06 AM - PeterkSharma: MK I have a roll of 3mm filament if you can use it
Aug 24, 2015 at 8:06 AM - Mike Kelly: haha
Aug 24, 2015 at 8:06 AM - Mike Kelly: nope
Aug 24, 2015 at 8:06 AM - Mike Kelly: unless you wanna help me buy an UM1 :)
Aug 24, 2015 at 8:06 AM - PeterkSharma: It was a mis order. Can't even give it away
    Aug 24, 2015 at 8:07 AM - daniel871: I know you can get PET+ in opaque colors.
Aug 24, 2015 at 8:07 AM - PeterkSharma: lol been trying to unload it for a week. Have to move soon lol
Aug 24, 2015 at 8:07 AM - Mike Glass: use it on your weed wacka
Aug 24, 2015 at 8:07 AM - daniel871: I need to solve the issue with Tool 1 before I can tackle dual extruding again.
Aug 24, 2015 at 8:07 AM - JeffTheMess: invent a way to trim it down :)
Aug 24, 2015 at 8:07 AM - daniel871: Figure this evening if I'm not too tired I'll start looking through the firmware to see if there is an upper temp limit for some reason.
Aug 24, 2015 at 8:07 AM - Mike Kelly: run it through a filastruder
Aug 24, 2015 at 8:07 AM - PeterkSharma: MG nothing to weedwake
    Aug 24, 2015 at 8:08 AM - Mike Kelly: tool1?
    Aug 24, 2015 at 8:08 AM - daniel871: Nozzle #2.
    Aug 24, 2015 at 8:08 AM - daniel871: It won't heat up above 210 for some reason.
Aug 24, 2015 at 8:08 AM - Mike Kelly: adjust your thermistor
Aug 24, 2015 at 8:08 AM - PeterkSharma: I was thinking of getting a fillastruder
Aug 24, 2015 at 8:08 AM - daniel871: How in the world do I do that?
Aug 24, 2015 at 8:09 AM - PeterkSharma: Anyone print with HIPS?
Aug 24, 2015 at 8:09 AM - daniel871: Or is it just a listing somewhere in the firmware like I'm thinking.
Aug 24, 2015 at 8:09 AM - Mike Kelly: take it out and put it back in
    Aug 24, 2015 at 8:09 AM - Mike Kelly: i print HIPS
Aug 24, 2015 at 8:09 AM - daniel871: It's the stud thermistor, fully seated and tightened in.
Aug 24, 2015 at 8:09 AM - Mike Kelly: oh
Aug 24, 2015 at 8:09 AM - PeterkSharma: Like it?
Aug 24, 2015 at 8:09 AM - Mike Kelly: it's good for support material, i wouldn't use it for anything structural though
Aug 24, 2015 at 8:09 AM - Mike Kelly: daniel and it's set to thermistor 1?
Aug 24, 2015 at 8:10 AM - Mike Kelly: i dunno might be a bad stud thermistor
    Aug 24, 2015 at 8:10 AM - daniel871:
Aug 24, 2015 at 8:10 AM - Mike Kelly: swap it to the other hot end and see if it reads the same
Aug 24, 2015 at 8:10 AM - daniel871: Yeah, firmware is 1, temps seem to read consistent, it's weird.
Aug 24, 2015 at 8:10 AM - Mike Kelly: also get a thermocouple or IR thermometer and do a sanity check of the temps
Aug 24, 2015 at 8:11 AM - JeffTheMess: I never changed the thermistor with my stud
Aug 24, 2015 at 8:11 AM - JeffTheMess: for the firmware
Aug 24, 2015 at 8:11 AM - daniel871: They both read the same temps and heat up at the same pace when I test them, #2 just seems to not want to go to 245.
Aug 24, 2015 at 8:11 AM - daniel871: Jeff, I had the v6 thermistor originally and had the firmware set to #5 for the thermistor type, then changed it to #1 for the stud.
Aug 24, 2015 at 8:12 AM - JeffTheMess: ahh ok
Aug 24, 2015 at 8:12 AM - Blake Benefield: Harry, July 30 was the 470 offer, Aug 1 the 520 offer, and made that offer again on aug 6th
Aug 24, 2015 at 8:13 AM - daniel871: It isn't like I can't print anything, it's just a bug for Tool1 so I'll just keep on doing single-color objects while I dig into firmware/whatever/print more CES parts for the contest.
Aug 24, 2015 at 8:14 AM - JeffTheMess: how many parts you planning on printing
Aug 24, 2015 at 8:15 AM - daniel871: Depends on how much filament I have vs. the deadline. I've got a bunch of spools of various things that aren't making me any money right now so I figure why not get in some tuning/calibrating while printing stuff for CES.
Aug 24, 2015 at 8:15 AM - PeterkSharma: Dan swap the thermistors. Sounds like you might have a faulty part
Aug 24, 2015 at 8:15 AM - daniel871: Good practice at any rate.
Aug 24, 2015 at 8:16 AM - PeterkSharma: Put the on
Aug 24, 2015 at 8:16 AM - PeterkSharma: Just swap and see if it does the same thing
Aug 24, 2015 at 8:18 AM - JeffTheMess: or order more studs
Aug 24, 2015 at 8:18 AM - Mike Kelly: i've got this translucent "Red" pla that's really like a red-orange
Aug 24, 2015 at 8:18 AM - Mike Kelly: want to get rid of it so it's going into robbie
    Aug 24, 2015 at 8:18 AM - PeterkSharma: Lol
Aug 24, 2015 at 8:19 AM - daniel871: Posted some finished print pics in the CES thread.

Aug 24, 2015 at 8:19 AM - PeterkSharma: You could mod your printer and print lots of Robbie parts with this 3mm filament :p could win another printer
    Aug 24, 2015 at 8:19 AM - PeterkSharma: Heheh
    Aug 24, 2015 at 8:20 AM - daniel871: [IMG]
Aug 24, 2015 at 8:21 AM - daniel871: Some weird vertical reflections in this one. [IMG]
Aug 24, 2015 at 8:21 AM - Mike Glass: what was the finish time daniel?
Aug 24, 2015 at 8:21 AM - Mike Glass: with 10% infill it does wierd things like that.
Aug 24, 2015 at 8:21 AM - daniel871: No idea. It keeps counting after the part is done for some reason and my cousin said it had been completely cooled off when he sent me those images.
Aug 24, 2015 at 8:22 AM - Mike Kelly: huh weird
Aug 24, 2015 at 8:22 AM - Mike Kelly: i wouldn't use clear xt for that, too expensive
Aug 24, 2015 at 8:22 AM - daniel871: S3D estimated 11 hours and that seems about right. It was at 80% when I left for work at 5:30 this morning and took the preview pic.
Aug 24, 2015 at 8:22 AM - Mike Glass: lol yea no kidding
Aug 24, 2015 at 8:23 AM - Mike Kelly: how are you liking the pei
Aug 24, 2015 at 8:23 AM - daniel871: Seems to work pretty well, I'm not seeing any obvious warping on that print.
Aug 24, 2015 at 8:23 AM - Mike Glass: I would use up my xt but no way it would print reliable
Aug 24, 2015 at 8:23 AM - Mike Kelly: try abs with it?
Aug 24, 2015 at 8:23 AM - Mike Glass: is the pei a clear sheet?
Aug 24, 2015 at 8:23 AM - daniel871: Another pic also posted in the thread. [IMG]
Aug 24, 2015 at 8:24 AM - Mike Kelly: PEI is kinda orangish, like kapton
Aug 24, 2015 at 8:24 AM - Mike Glass: I was gonna order one today.
Aug 24, 2015 at 8:24 AM - Mike Kelly: nice looking carriage
Aug 24, 2015 at 8:24 AM - daniel871: Should be, you designed it.
    Aug 24, 2015 at 8:24 AM - Mike Glass: I found a 12x12 sheet of adhesive also
Aug 24, 2015 at 8:24 AM - daniel871: Other than the wires everywhere.
Aug 24, 2015 at 8:24 AM - Mike Kelly: red's a good color for it
Aug 24, 2015 at 8:24 AM - Mike Kelly: eh looks like my wiring
    Aug 24, 2015 at 8:24 AM - PeterkSharma: I have some Pei
Aug 24, 2015 at 8:25 AM - daniel871: I'd be careful with that full sheet, MG. I used the strips of tape and it was still a pain to get on flat.
Aug 24, 2015 at 8:25 AM - PeterkSharma: Personally I prefer glue stick
Aug 24, 2015 at 8:25 AM - Mike Glass: you wont with abs peter
Aug 24, 2015 at 8:25 AM - PeterkSharma: Yeah it worked fine for the test print I did
Aug 24, 2015 at 8:26 AM - daniel871: I like having my prints basically hop off the bed when I put the scraper to them. And the ABS tests I've done have stuck to the bed throughout the print, but my extrusion multiplier is off because they don't look anywhere near as smooth as that XT print did.
Aug 24, 2015 at 8:26 AM - PeterkSharma: It was 100 outside though. Prob 120 in my house hahaha
Aug 24, 2015 at 8:26 AM - Mike Glass: little parts are ok but big prints is where you run into problems
Aug 24, 2015 at 8:26 AM - PeterkSharma: Yeah the warping?
Aug 24, 2015 at 8:26 AM - Mike Glass: yep
Aug 24, 2015 at 8:26 AM - PeterkSharma: I hear a lot about abs glue, that a bad route to go?
Aug 24, 2015 at 8:26 AM - daniel871: I may put the black ABS spool on Tool 0 and redo the Robby part I have in it just for shits and giggles to see how it prints.
Aug 24, 2015 at 8:27 AM - daniel871: Definitely big enough to test the PEI and warping.
Aug 24, 2015 at 8:27 AM - Mike Glass: yea no kidding that would.
Aug 24, 2015 at 8:27 AM - Bill Monroe: back
Aug 24, 2015 at 8:27 AM - Mike Kelly: yeah that would be a good abs torture test
Aug 24, 2015 at 8:28 AM - daniel871: Well hang on, should I go with black ABS or the goofy Canary Yellow ABS or Pink or Purple ABS?
Aug 24, 2015 at 8:28 AM - Mike Glass: pink of course
    Aug 24, 2015 at 8:28 AM - daniel871: LOL
    Aug 24, 2015 at 8:28 AM - daniel871: Alright.
Aug 24, 2015 at 8:28 AM - daniel871: I'll reslice for ABS when I get home and run it tonight.
Aug 24, 2015 at 8:29 AM - Mike Glass: translucent pink would be cool, not sure anybody makes it though
Aug 24, 2015 at 8:29 AM - Mike Glass: Mike the Justpla brown I got would be perfect for printing beer bottles. is really cool looking.
Aug 24, 2015 at 8:30 AM - Blake Benefield: MG, I opened that cover in solidworks last night. the size is just off on the file
Aug 24, 2015 at 8:30 AM - Mike Kelly: is it translucent brown?
Aug 24, 2015 at 8:30 AM - Mike Glass: must of been for a different version.
Aug 24, 2015 at 8:30 AM - PeterkSharma: Beer bottles? Hahahah
Aug 24, 2015 at 8:30 AM - Mike Glass: well i didnt think it was but I think all in that line of JustPla is kinda translucent
Aug 24, 2015 at 8:31 AM - PeterkSharma: That's the difference in pei and pet tape?
    Aug 24, 2015 at 8:31 AM - daniel871: Not sure, Peter.
Aug 24, 2015 at 8:32 AM - daniel871: I figure to see how much abuse this sheet of PEI can take before needing replacement and compare that to the hassle of constantly re-taping/gluing/spraying, then post an update about it in the thread I put in Mods/Upgrades.
Aug 24, 2015 at 8:32 AM - daniel871: Should last a good long time though according to the stuff I've read about it.
    Aug 24, 2015 at 8:32 AM - PeterkSharma: http://www.iflscience.com/physics/w...-causes-magnetic-field-disappear-and-reappear
Aug 24, 2015 at 8:33 AM - daniel871: Nobody ever talks about replacing it except to swap beds and test things like the Zebra Plate.
Aug 24, 2015 at 8:33 AM - PeterkSharma: Wrong link

Aug 24, 2015 at 8:37 AM - Bill Monroe: jb
Aug 24, 2015 at 8:38 AM - jbigler1986: finally the week has arrived
Aug 24, 2015 at 8:40 AM - Mike Glass: hopefully not the week from hell
    Aug 24, 2015 at 8:41 AM - jbigler1986: can't be any worse
Aug 24, 2015 at 8:41 AM - jbigler1986: the absolute worse would be 1 day a week and every other weekend
    Aug 24, 2015 at 8:42 AM - jbigler1986: haven't seen my kids since August 3rd. Sucks
Aug 24, 2015 at 8:43 AM - Bill Monroe: I got every other week, but within a couple of months the kids decided to stay with me
Aug 24, 2015 at 8:44 AM - jbigler1986: i'm going for where she gets every other weekend and 1 day a week. I am willing to agree to every other week though. Which she said was fine at first. We shall see
Aug 24, 2015 at 8:44 AM - Mike Kelly: PET is just another kind of material people use for the bed
Aug 24, 2015 at 8:45 AM - jbigler1986: how much is PETG normally
Aug 24, 2015 at 8:45 AM - Mike Kelly: toybuilderlabs sells it for 30
Aug 24, 2015 at 8:46 AM - jbigler1986: esun has it for 26.99 right now
Aug 24, 2015 at 8:46 AM - Mike Kelly: nice
    Aug 24, 2015 at 8:46 AM - jbigler1986: on amazon
    Aug 24, 2015 at 8:58 AM - PeterkSharma: Pei>pet?
Aug 24, 2015 at 9:02 AM - Mike Kelly: i dunno if it's that simple
    Aug 24, 2015 at 9:02 AM - Mike Kelly: they're just different
Aug 24, 2015 at 9:02 AM - Mike Kelly: people love the PET
Aug 24, 2015 at 9:03 AM - daniel871: I have to be careful talking about the PEI because every time I brag about something it breaks.
Aug 24, 2015 at 9:04 AM - PeterkSharma: Will pet help for large prints (abs)
Aug 24, 2015 at 9:06 AM - Mike Kelly: probably
Aug 24, 2015 at 9:10 AM - Mike Glass: less likely to warp then abs
Aug 24, 2015 at 9:11 AM - Mike Kelly: he means PET tape
Aug 24, 2015 at 9:12 AM - Mike Glass: oh.. that shit is not cheap
Aug 24, 2015 at 9:15 AM - Blake Benefield: Any of you fellas care to swap a barely used roll of Hatchbox Trans Orange ABS for a hatch or justpla PLA?
    Aug 24, 2015 at 9:19 AM - Mike Kelly: got a picture?
    Aug 24, 2015 at 9:20 AM - jbigler1986: robo has arrived

Aug 24, 2015 at 9:21 AM - Blake Benefield: i can take one when i get home mk, but its what that cover failed in the other day
    Aug 24, 2015 at 9:22 AM - jbigler1986: haha. imagine that
Aug 24, 2015 at 9:22 AM - Blake Benefield: [IMG]
Aug 24, 2015 at 9:22 AM - Mike Glass: Same stuff you have MK

Aug 24, 2015 at 9:23 AM - Blake Benefield: [IMG]
Aug 24, 2015 at 9:24 AM - Blake Benefield: it wasn't the filaments fault it failed.. I didn't slice it with the parts fan turned off

Aug 24, 2015 at 9:25 AM - Mike Kelly: doesn't need to be as tight as they're making it
Aug 24, 2015 at 9:26 AM - Mike Glass: I printed extras after one broke on mine.
Aug 24, 2015 at 9:26 AM - Mike Glass: why cant we make them out of aluminum
Aug 24, 2015 at 9:27 AM - Mike Kelly: you absolutely could
Aug 24, 2015 at 9:27 AM - jbigler1986: they are fucking both broke. front and back

Aug 24, 2015 at 9:42 AM - PeterkSharma: and the screw that was used to attach that part was rusted
    Aug 24, 2015 at 9:43 AM - PeterkSharma: MG, I have a few extras
Aug 24, 2015 at 9:43 AM - jbigler1986: the nozzle may be loose. haven't checked that yet
Aug 24, 2015 at 9:43 AM - PeterkSharma: Gotta split. time to flip some burgers
Aug 24, 2015 at 9:44 AM - Mike Glass: Coupler?
    Aug 24, 2015 at 9:45 AM - jbigler1986: ikr

    Aug 24, 2015 at 10:28 AM - Mike Kelly: yeah we'll see
Aug 24, 2015 at 10:29 AM - Mike Kelly: the prospect of moving to boston is frightening but exciting
Aug 24, 2015 at 10:29 AM - JeffTheMess: indeed exciting
Aug 24, 2015 at 10:31 AM - jbigler1986: almost completely opposite sides of the country
Aug 24, 2015 at 10:33 AM - Mike Kelly: https://plus.google.com/u/1/104034368033227202956/posts/hLBZMXaszmv?cfem=1 this is cool
Aug 24, 2015 at 10:33 AM - Mike Kelly: i did love boston when i visited
Aug 24, 2015 at 10:33 AM - Mike Kelly: such a cool city
Aug 24, 2015 at 10:34 AM - JeffTheMess: your married ,right?
Aug 24, 2015 at 10:36 AM - Mike Kelly: right
Aug 24, 2015 at 10:36 AM - JeffTheMess: she cool with moving?
Aug 24, 2015 at 10:36 AM - Mike Kelly: yup
Aug 24, 2015 at 10:36 AM - Mike Kelly: her company HQ is actually in boston so there's a good chance she could transfer
Aug 24, 2015 at 10:37 AM - Mike Kelly: she also loved boston
Aug 24, 2015 at 10:37 AM - Mike Kelly: but i'm not counting any eggs right now
Aug 24, 2015 at 10:37 AM - jbigler1986: stop by indiana on your way. :D
Aug 24, 2015 at 10:37 AM - Mike Kelly: haha will do
Aug 24, 2015 at 10:39 AM - daniel871: There wouldn't happen to be a tablet app for Arduino programming that would allow you to connect to the printer and update firmware without lugging an entire PC over to it, is there?
Aug 24, 2015 at 10:39 AM - Mike Kelly: never heard of one
Aug 24, 2015 at 10:39 AM - Mike Kelly: that would be cool though
Aug 24, 2015 at 10:39 AM - Mike Kelly: write an email to arduino
Aug 24, 2015 at 10:39 AM - daniel871: "You guys need an Android app!"
Aug 24, 2015 at 10:41 AM - jbigler1986: you gotta have a job you enjoy doing
Aug 24, 2015 at 10:41 AM - Mike Kelly: definitely
Aug 24, 2015 at 10:42 AM - Mike Kelly: i don't like rueing going into work
Aug 24, 2015 at 10:42 AM - Mike Kelly: doesn't help my mental stability
    Aug 24, 2015 at 10:43 AM - daniel871: Oh hey. https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=name.antonsmirnov.android.arduinodroid2&hl=en
    Aug 24, 2015 at 10:44 AM - daniel871: Also this one: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=name.antonsmirnov.android.arduinocommander&hl=en
Aug 24, 2015 at 10:44 AM - Mike Kelly: google to the rescue
Aug 24, 2015 at 10:44 AM - daniel871: Not sure which would be better to try.
Aug 24, 2015 at 10:44 AM - daniel871: They both claim to upload.
Aug 24, 2015 at 10:44 AM - daniel871: I just need to get a cable that will go from my Android to the USB on the Robo, looks like.
Aug 24, 2015 at 10:45 AM - Mike Kelly: both free right?
Aug 24, 2015 at 10:45 AM - daniel871: Hm. "in App purchases for advanced features"
    Aug 24, 2015 at 10:45 AM - daniel871: Sounds like a trap
Aug 24, 2015 at 10:46 AM - daniel871: First one specifically lists compatibility with the Mega 2560 though, may get it and try to get the correct cable.
Aug 24, 2015 at 10:46 AM - JeffTheMess: give it a shot.. if not delete and try another
Aug 24, 2015 at 10:46 AM - daniel871: Then figure out how to load, modify and upload the Robo firmware.
Aug 24, 2015 at 10:51 AM - daniel871: Now to just find the right USB cable.
Aug 24, 2015 at 10:56 AM - jbigler1986: holy shit. the arduino software is taking forever to install
Aug 24, 2015 at 10:57 AM - daniel871: Looks like I can use this to adapt the current USB cable to work on my Android. http://www.amazon.com/dp/B00NXU806A?psc=1
Aug 24, 2015 at 10:58 AM - JeffTheMess: ahhh....im done with all my work :)
Aug 24, 2015 at 10:58 AM - jbigler1986: yep. couldn'r remember what the cable was called
Aug 24, 2015 at 10:58 AM - daniel871: Unpacking SDK is taking a while. Figure I'll just use my Galaxy S4 if it can handle it.
Aug 24, 2015 at 11:02 AM - daniel871: Huh. Looks like the only "in-app purchases" are to ditch ads and add fancy font coloring for various programmed command types to make them easier to see when browsing.
Aug 24, 2015 at 11:03 AM - daniel871: Now to try and figure out how to load the firmware I have onto it for editing.
Aug 24, 2015 at 11:05 AM - Mike Kelly: whoa
    Aug 24, 2015 at 11:07 AM - Mike Glass: whoa a a
Aug 24, 2015 at 11:07 AM - JeffTheMess: seems overkill
Aug 24, 2015 at 11:09 AM - Mike Kelly: you know what they say about excess
    Aug 24, 2015 at 11:10 AM - daniel871: It rules?
Aug 24, 2015 at 11:10 AM - Mike Kelly: nothing exceeds like excess
Aug 24, 2015 at 11:10 AM - JeffTheMess: baboom clash
Aug 24, 2015 at 11:19 AM - daniel871: Well, Loaded the default Robo firmware I had on my PC at work. Opened and read just fine and browses like a touch screen version of the Arduino CC might browse.
Aug 24, 2015 at 11:19 AM - daniel871: I'll load my current firmware, look around and tweak some things/verify some things, then test uploading it to the Robo.
Aug 24, 2015 at 11:21 AM - Mike Kelly: sweet
    Aug 24, 2015 at 11:21 AM - Mike Kelly: that's pretty cool

Aug 24, 2015 at 11:23 AM - Mike Kelly: i wonder what makes people think they need a 24"x24"x24" printer, etc
Aug 24, 2015 at 11:24 AM - Mike Kelly: "can you build one this size for around 1100"
Aug 24, 2015 at 11:24 AM - Mike Kelly: lol no]
Aug 24, 2015 at 11:29 AM - Blake Benefield: so MK, are you the same one that was in the makerbot thing on facebook with the spine print?
Aug 24, 2015 at 11:29 AM - Mike Kelly: probably not
    Aug 24, 2015 at 11:29 AM - Mike Kelly: got a link?
Aug 24, 2015 at 11:30 AM - daniel871: I dream about having a cubic meter printer, or modifying an old CNC router with a ridiculous table to have a print head on it that takes plastic pellets instead of filament.
Aug 24, 2015 at 11:31 AM - daniel871: Like that ridiculous 15' delta that used a bin full of pellets.
Aug 24, 2015 at 11:31 AM - Mike Kelly: yes
    Aug 24, 2015 at 11:32 AM - Blake Benefield: https://www.facebook.com/makerbot?fref=nf
Aug 24, 2015 at 11:32 AM - Blake Benefield: nm its Kelley
Aug 24, 2015 at 11:32 AM - daniel871: I know it would take tons of money I will never have to do, but it'd be neat as hell to have.

Aug 24, 2015 at 11:36 AM - daniel871: "Use all of the words!"
Aug 24, 2015 at 11:38 AM - daniel871: Anybody got any over-the-counter drug suggestions for allergies? Neither Benadryl nor Mucinex nor Zyrtec nor Claritin are of any help (or any of the brands competing with Claritin).
    Aug 24, 2015 at 11:38 AM - daniel871: Fn Ragweed.
Aug 24, 2015 at 11:39 AM - daniel871: Literally coughing and sneezing all day until my throat is scratchy/sore and that miserable sick feeling is setting in.
Aug 24, 2015 at 11:41 AM - daniel871: Going to stop at the minute clinic on the way home from work either way, was just wondering if anyone's tried anything different that works.
Aug 24, 2015 at 11:45 AM - Blake Benefield: daniel, load up on vitamin C.
Aug 24, 2015 at 11:45 AM - Mike Kelly: my favorite is tylenol allergy
Aug 24, 2015 at 11:45 AM - Blake Benefield: can also double the dose of cetirizine
    Aug 24, 2015 at 11:46 AM - Mike Kelly: phenylephrine i believe
Aug 24, 2015 at 11:46 AM - Blake Benefield: like 1000mg vitamin c 3 times a day. helps to boost the immune system
    Aug 24, 2015 at 11:47 AM - Mike Kelly: http://www.tylenol.com/products/tylenol-sinus-congestion-pain-caplets-daytime
Aug 24, 2015 at 11:47 AM - Mike Kelly: though i use the sams club brand
Aug 24, 2015 at 11:47 AM - Blake Benefield: do you have a runny nose at all? or do you feel more stuffy?
Aug 24, 2015 at 11:47 AM - daniel871: Runny nose, runny sinuses in the back of my throat.
Aug 24, 2015 at 11:48 AM - Blake Benefield: antihistamine will help with itchy eyes/reduce sneezing, and it'll dry the mucus up.
Aug 24, 2015 at 11:48 AM - daniel871: Get some relief for about 5 minutes if I shoot some Afrin up there, but then I still have to suffer for a few hours before being able to use something else.
Aug 24, 2015 at 11:48 AM - Blake Benefield: thats the tylenol sinus mike, that will make the nose more runny
Aug 24, 2015 at 11:48 AM - Blake Benefield: you can try a product called Nasalcrom if you can find it
Aug 24, 2015 at 11:48 AM - daniel871: Benadryl only made me sleepy.
Aug 24, 2015 at 11:48 AM - Blake Benefield: works quite well, been out since the 90s
Aug 24, 2015 at 11:49 AM - daniel871: I'll look for it when I'm at the minute clinic. CVS/Walgreens should carry it right?
Aug 24, 2015 at 11:49 AM - Blake Benefield: chlorpheniramine also works well, still causes drowsiness but not as much as benadryl
    Aug 24, 2015 at 11:49 AM - Mike Kelly: na it's a decongestant
Aug 24, 2015 at 11:49 AM - Blake Benefield: they shuold
Aug 24, 2015 at 11:49 AM - Mike Kelly: reduces inflamation in the nasal passages
Aug 24, 2015 at 11:49 AM - Mike Kelly: helps with both runny nose and congestion
Aug 24, 2015 at 11:49 AM - daniel871: If the graphics on that Nasalcrom don't feature a barbarian shouting at germs I'll be disappointed.
Aug 24, 2015 at 11:49 AM - Mike Kelly: i only take diphedramine when i'm totally jacked from allergies
Aug 24, 2015 at 11:50 AM - Mike Kelly: i don't find the dailies very effective
Aug 24, 2015 at 11:50 AM - Blake Benefield: decongestants and antihistamines sort of do opposite things
    Aug 24, 2015 at 11:50 AM - daniel871: That's Benadryl, MK.
Aug 24, 2015 at 11:50 AM - daniel871: Or at least, the drug name on the off-brand benadryl.
    Aug 24, 2015 at 11:50 AM - Mike Kelly: yes i know
Aug 24, 2015 at 11:51 AM - Mike Kelly: it's also "sleep aid"
Aug 24, 2015 at 11:51 AM - Mike Kelly: i usually try and call them by their chemical name
Aug 24, 2015 at 11:51 AM - Blake Benefield: indeed.
Aug 24, 2015 at 11:51 AM - Blake Benefield: likewise
Aug 24, 2015 at 11:51 AM - Blake Benefield: trade names if someone doesn't know what i'm talking about
Aug 24, 2015 at 11:51 AM - daniel871: There used to be something like TheraFlu that people would swear by that ended up killing people a few years ago.
Aug 24, 2015 at 11:52 AM - daniel871: I want to say Tamiflu but that doesn't sound right.
Aug 24, 2015 at 11:52 AM - Mike Kelly: try phenylephrine, i love that stuff
Aug 24, 2015 at 11:52 AM - Mike Kelly: that and the acitaminophine will help
    Aug 24, 2015 at 11:53 AM - daniel871: Vitamin C and Sudafed.
Aug 24, 2015 at 11:53 AM - Mike Kelly: yup
Aug 24, 2015 at 11:53 AM - daniel871: Well, I haven't tried that in a few years because stocking up for allergy season would get you on the DEA watchlist.
Aug 24, 2015 at 11:53 AM - Mike Kelly: haha
Aug 24, 2015 at 11:54 AM - Mike Kelly: don't want them to find out about your meth lab?
Aug 24, 2015 at 11:54 AM - Blake Benefield: phenylephrine doesn't require the signature. only actual pseudoephedrine
Aug 24, 2015 at 11:54 AM - Mike Kelly: yup, that's why i like phenyl
Aug 24, 2015 at 11:54 AM - daniel871: I wish I had a meth lab, I'd be able to afford some better toys.
    Aug 24, 2015 at 11:55 AM - daniel871: Like that Big Box.
Aug 24, 2015 at 11:55 AM - Mike Kelly: i've got one of those enormous spherical vials he uses in breaking bad at work
Aug 24, 2015 at 11:56 AM - daniel871: I liked how resistant to explosives everyone in that show was.
Aug 24, 2015 at 11:56 AM - daniel871: *Blows windows and bricks out of an entire floor of building, walks away with only a nose bleed*
Aug 24, 2015 at 11:57 AM - Mike Kelly: people don't really understand what an explosion actually is
Aug 24, 2015 at 11:57 AM - Mike Kelly: hence why people say things like "The hindenberg exploded"
Aug 24, 2015 at 11:57 AM - Mike Kelly: nope, it combusted
Aug 24, 2015 at 11:57 AM - Mike Kelly: or people surviving an explosion by going underwater
Aug 24, 2015 at 11:57 AM - Mike Kelly: yeah no
Aug 24, 2015 at 11:58 AM - daniel871: Or people being pushed away from an explosion that occurs underwater vs. being pulled into it like what would actually happen for the more dramatic nuclear payloads.
Aug 24, 2015 at 11:59 AM - Mike Kelly: well you'd get pushed out from the shockwave but then get pulled back in during the implosion
    Aug 24, 2015 at 11:59 AM - daniel871: Yeah.
Aug 24, 2015 at 11:59 AM - Mike Kelly: but you'd be crushed from the tremendous forces
Aug 24, 2015 at 11:59 AM - Mike Kelly: since water would allow for a perfect displacement of the energy
Aug 24, 2015 at 11:59 AM - Mike Kelly: instead of being diffused in the air
Aug 24, 2015 at 11:59 AM - daniel871: I liked how that was fairly well depicted in Pacific Rim (ignoring the fantasy of giant robots that can stand up to a nuclear blast that vaporizes all the water around the robot)
Aug 24, 2015 at 12:00 PM - Mike Kelly: haha
Aug 24, 2015 at 12:00 PM - daniel871: You had them looking around confused for a second because of the vacuum pocket that was created before the ocean came roaring in to fill the area again.
Aug 24, 2015 at 12:01 PM - daniel871: (as if they'd have time to react, but still)
Aug 24, 2015 at 12:01 PM - Blake Benefield: [IMG]
    Aug 24, 2015 at 12:01 PM - daniel871: What is that?
Aug 24, 2015 at 12:02 PM - Blake Benefield: cover for my power supply
    Aug 24, 2015 at 12:02 PM - Blake Benefield: add's the elusive 'ON/OFF' switch
    Aug 24, 2015 at 12:02 PM - daniel871: For the HIC?
Aug 24, 2015 at 12:02 PM - Blake Benefield: yup
Aug 24, 2015 at 12:03 PM - daniel871: Yeah, MK, I had solid layers every 50 layers on that .2 layer height XT print.
Aug 24, 2015 at 12:04 PM - Blake Benefield: [IMG]
Aug 24, 2015 at 12:04 PM - Blake Benefield: my view atm
Aug 24, 2015 at 12:04 PM - daniel871: Looks about right on the way the shading appears to go there, but it's hard to tell in a photo.
    Aug 24, 2015 at 12:05 PM - daniel871: LOL.
Aug 24, 2015 at 12:05 PM - daniel871: "Order this image in a canvas wrapped or Metal framed print!"
Aug 24, 2015 at 12:07 PM - Bill Monroe: Blake, ever hear of Cardinal Health?
Aug 24, 2015 at 12:07 PM - Blake Benefield: this is a medicine shoppe I'm in currently Bill. They're a Cardinal franchise
Aug 24, 2015 at 12:08 PM - Bill Monroe: aha!
Aug 24, 2015 at 12:08 PM - Bill Monroe: <-- id time with Cardinal
Aug 24, 2015 at 12:08 PM - Mike Kelly: yeah i don't care for photobucket
Aug 24, 2015 at 12:09 PM - Blake Benefield: Well I had an imgur account but they deleted a ton of my stuff once. so I moved it.

Aug 24, 2015 at 12:11 PM - Mike Kelly: free time
Aug 24, 2015 at 12:12 PM - Mike Kelly: i pay for imgur pro so they keep all my images
Aug 24, 2015 at 12:12 PM - Mike Kelly: free only gets like 100 or 200
Aug 24, 2015 at 12:12 PM - Mike Kelly: but if you subscribe to pro all the old images will show up in your account
Aug 24, 2015 at 12:16 PM - jbigler1986: she is setup. about to try and print a new y tensioner
Aug 24, 2015 at 12:17 PM - jbigler1986: actually i need to update the firmware first. almost failed. lol
Aug 24, 2015 at 12:18 PM - jbigler1986: where the hell is the firmware now
Aug 24, 2015 at 12:18 PM - Blake Benefield: Fun
    Aug 24, 2015 at 12:18 PM - daniel871: Some Wiki page I think.
Aug 24, 2015 at 12:18 PM - Blake Benefield: I dunno JB but take notes. I'm probably gonna have to do this wednesday
    Aug 24, 2015 at 12:19 PM - jbigler1986: dumb

Aug 24, 2015 at 12:20 PM - jbigler1986: can you even find it from their website
Aug 24, 2015 at 12:21 PM - daniel871: Don't know. I went by browser history/auto-fill by typing Firmware and trying each of the three different urls that came up.
Aug 24, 2015 at 12:22 PM - Mike Glass: its on the homepage, click support then the firmware link.
Aug 24, 2015 at 12:23 PM - Mike Glass: support- then technical support
    Aug 24, 2015 at 12:24 PM - jbigler1986: gotcha
Aug 24, 2015 at 12:27 PM - Mike Glass: They finally fixed it
Aug 24, 2015 at 12:31 PM - Blake Benefield: wow, dude just texted me. our robo is in
Aug 24, 2015 at 12:31 PM - Blake Benefield: I'll pick it up tonight or tomorrow
Aug 24, 2015 at 12:31 PM - Blake Benefield: think they just ordered it friday
Aug 24, 2015 at 12:32 PM - Mike Glass: do they know about 3d printing?
Aug 24, 2015 at 12:36 PM - Mike Kelly: who wants to take bets on if the y brackets are broken
Aug 24, 2015 at 12:37 PM - Mike Glass: im going with the z switches.
Aug 24, 2015 at 12:39 PM - Blake Benefield: They know much much less than I do, which isn't much
Aug 24, 2015 at 12:40 PM - Blake Benefield: he said the box 'has something sliding inside when you turn it" lol
Aug 24, 2015 at 12:41 PM - Mike Glass: yeah that is just the z axis moving up and down breaking the switches..lol
Aug 24, 2015 at 12:42 PM - Mike Kelly: protip, don't shake expensive electronics
Aug 24, 2015 at 12:44 PM - Blake Benefield: Dont think he was shaking it... just taking it from the fedex guy and carrying it to the table
    Aug 24, 2015 at 12:45 PM - jbigler1986: [IMG]
Aug 24, 2015 at 12:45 PM - Mike Kelly: zip ties to the rescue

Aug 24, 2015 at 12:46 PM - jbigler1986: so either i got an older printer or they started putting the x switch back on the bracket
Aug 24, 2015 at 12:48 PM - Mike Kelly: they did
Aug 24, 2015 at 12:48 PM - jbigler1986: super glue is holding so far
Aug 24, 2015 at 12:49 PM - Blake Benefield: The HIC has the x switch on the z carriage
Aug 24, 2015 at 12:50 PM - Mike Kelly: i'm not sure why they decided not to keep the switch on the x carriage
    Aug 24, 2015 at 12:52 PM - jbigler1986: i don't like it on the carriage
Aug 24, 2015 at 12:53 PM - Mike Glass: Mike do you understand how this works. http://makezine.com/projects/make-4...ot-desktop-universal-vacuum-hold-down-system/
Aug 24, 2015 at 12:53 PM - Mike Glass: didnt know mdf was so pourus is could be used as a table without holes.
Aug 24, 2015 at 12:54 PM - Mike Kelly: wow that's really porous
Aug 24, 2015 at 12:55 PM - Mike Kelly: nice link though
Aug 24, 2015 at 12:56 PM - Mike Kelly: ultralight MDF
Aug 24, 2015 at 12:56 PM - daniel871: Yeah, you just have to seal around the outside of the MDF to make sure all the vacuum goes to the part you want to hold.
    Aug 24, 2015 at 12:58 PM - jbigler1986: [IMG]
Aug 24, 2015 at 12:58 PM - daniel871: For the temporary spoilboards we do at work (for vacuum patterns that are smaller than the stock table) we cut out an MDF jig and then put tape around the outside of the jig and the part we want to cut.
Aug 24, 2015 at 12:58 PM - Mike Kelly: nice JB
Aug 24, 2015 at 12:58 PM - daniel871: Got a little wobbly in a few places looks like.
Aug 24, 2015 at 12:59 PM - Mike Kelly: yeah
Aug 24, 2015 at 12:59 PM - daniel871: That or that is an incredible zoom.
Aug 24, 2015 at 12:59 PM - jbigler1986: well y isn't very tight right now. didn't want it to break
Aug 24, 2015 at 12:59 PM - Mike Kelly: right
Aug 24, 2015 at 1:00 PM - daniel871: I adjusted the actual belt in my clips until threading the screw and getting a few turns on it would finish tightening the belt.
Aug 24, 2015 at 1:00 PM - daniel871: That way it wouldn't bottom out/start pushing on the clip itself.
Aug 24, 2015 at 1:00 PM - daniel871: (kind of a pain in the ass to do though)
    Aug 24, 2015 at 1:02 PM - Mike Kelly: http://www.popsci.com/mit-multifab-printer-prints-10-materials-simultaneously?src=SOC&dom=fb well that's interesting
Aug 24, 2015 at 1:06 PM - Mike Glass: I guess you take of the top and bottom layer of the mdf first right?
Aug 24, 2015 at 1:08 PM - Mike Kelly: it's not your run of the mill mdf
Aug 24, 2015 at 1:09 PM - Mike Kelly: but maybe
Aug 24, 2015 at 1:09 PM - Mike Glass: yeah the lightweight stuff
Aug 24, 2015 at 1:10 PM - Mike Kelly: hey MG have you figured out what the actual work area is based on the lengths of conduit?
Aug 24, 2015 at 1:11 PM - Mike Kelly: i want a 24x24 cutting area so I'm trying to figure out how much extra i need
Aug 24, 2015 at 1:11 PM - Mike Kelly: loading STL's in solidworks takes forever....
Aug 24, 2015 at 1:13 PM - Mike Glass: depends on your router mount, but I think he states it is around 8" loss one way and 4 on the other axis. let me see if I have that still.
Aug 24, 2015 at 1:15 PM - Mike Glass: wait its more than that, you have to consider that on both sides..heh
    Aug 24, 2015 at 1:16 PM - Mike Kelly: http://memes.com/these-perfectly-timed-photos-are-absolutely-real/an-explosive-finale whoa
Aug 24, 2015 at 1:16 PM - Mike Glass: So I have 18.5" on my X axis, the total lenght of my bars are 31"
Aug 24, 2015 at 1:17 PM - Mike Kelly: hmm
    Aug 24, 2015 at 1:17 PM - Mike Kelly: so i'd need like 36"
Aug 24, 2015 at 1:17 PM - Mike Glass: or was that my bottom sheet. I need to document stuff.
Aug 24, 2015 at 1:18 PM - Mike Glass: 30" is the lenght of my x axis bars
Aug 24, 2015 at 1:18 PM - Mike Kelly: i wish allted would just release step files from his model
Aug 24, 2015 at 1:18 PM - Mike Glass: He said he was going to after his new version
Aug 24, 2015 at 1:18 PM - Mike Kelly: cool
Aug 24, 2015 at 1:19 PM - Mike Glass: like you couldnt make it in 5 minutes anyway
Aug 24, 2015 at 1:20 PM - Mike Kelly: a bit longer than that
Aug 24, 2015 at 1:20 PM - Mike Kelly: really it's the loading of the flippin stl's in solidworks to take measurements from that takes forever
Aug 24, 2015 at 1:22 PM - Mike Glass: wish there was a software that you could load a stl and would give you all the measurements on a printout.
Aug 24, 2015 at 1:22 PM - Mike Kelly: that would own
Aug 24, 2015 at 1:28 PM - Blake Benefield: How long does it take to load them into sketchup? its crap for drawing but it does have the ruler tool
Aug 24, 2015 at 1:28 PM - Blake Benefield: or tape measure, whatever
Aug 24, 2015 at 1:28 PM - Mike Glass: ketchup sucks balls
    Aug 24, 2015 at 1:31 PM - jbigler1986: tinkercad
    Aug 24, 2015 at 1:31 PM - Mike Glass: I like stikercad
Aug 24, 2015 at 1:32 PM - Mike Glass: onshape is cool too
    Aug 24, 2015 at 1:32 PM - jbigler1986: [IMG]
    Aug 24, 2015 at 1:33 PM - jbigler1986: took 2 seconds
Aug 24, 2015 at 1:33 PM - jbigler1986: load stl. drag ruler onto workplane. done
Aug 24, 2015 at 1:35 PM - Mike Kelly: well i also use solidworks because i can copy the shape profile
    Aug 24, 2015 at 1:35 PM - jbigler1986: never
Aug 24, 2015 at 1:35 PM - jbigler1986: i though SW and stl files was no bueno
Aug 24, 2015 at 1:36 PM - Mike Kelly: you can load it in solidworks but it's a surface model and you get all the crosshatch lines
Aug 24, 2015 at 1:36 PM - Mike Kelly: can't turn it into a solid model
Aug 24, 2015 at 1:38 PM - jbigler1986: ahhh. so to copy it i guess that would be fine
Aug 24, 2015 at 1:38 PM - jbigler1986: does it give you measurements and stuff too
Aug 24, 2015 at 1:39 PM - Mike Kelly: yeah you just measure off of faces
Aug 24, 2015 at 1:39 PM - jbigler1986: well then make the tank extruder. what are you waiting for
Aug 24, 2015 at 1:40 PM - Mike Kelly: haha

Aug 24, 2015 at 1:43 PM - Blake Benefield: MG said he wants 'the beast"
Aug 24, 2015 at 1:44 PM - Mike Kelly: that's a bit more than i'd be able to spend :)
Aug 24, 2015 at 1:44 PM - Mike Kelly: that things pretty beastly though
Aug 24, 2015 at 1:47 PM - Mike Glass: you can print a child with that thing, not that I need anymore.
    Aug 24, 2015 at 1:48 PM - jbigler1986: Mk needs one
Aug 24, 2015 at 1:48 PM - Mike Glass: He needs like 10
Aug 24, 2015 at 1:48 PM - jbigler1986: haha. No more hobby for him
Aug 24, 2015 at 1:48 PM - Mike Kelly: that would be nice
    Aug 24, 2015 at 1:49 PM - Mike Kelly: maybe not 10
Aug 24, 2015 at 1:49 PM - Mike Kelly: but 1 would be a good start
    Aug 24, 2015 at 1:49 PM - jbigler1986: fine. 8
    Aug 24, 2015 at 1:49 PM - Mike Kelly: also 10 in binary :)
Aug 24, 2015 at 1:49 PM - Mike Glass: Thats how many I wanted, but it all stopped at the 3rd
Aug 24, 2015 at 1:50 PM - Mike Kelly: my parents were gonna have like 7 because that's how big my dad's family was
Aug 24, 2015 at 1:50 PM - Mike Kelly: both my older brother and sister had PKU so when they had me with normal health they stopped :)
Aug 24, 2015 at 1:50 PM - jbigler1986: Yeah 2 boys was enough for me.
    Aug 24, 2015 at 1:51 PM - jbigler1986: Maybe when they get older I wouldn't mind having a girl
Aug 24, 2015 at 1:51 PM - Blake Benefield: Isn't that the aspertame thing?
Aug 24, 2015 at 1:51 PM - Mike Kelly: yup
Aug 24, 2015 at 1:51 PM - Blake Benefield: I have 1 of each... Im done
Aug 24, 2015 at 1:51 PM - Mike Kelly: someone reads warning labels :)

Aug 24, 2015 at 1:52 PM - Blake Benefield: just didge the framework and use extruded alum
Aug 24, 2015 at 1:52 PM - Mike Glass: heredity
Aug 24, 2015 at 1:52 PM - Blake Benefield: ditch even
Aug 24, 2015 at 1:53 PM - Mike Glass: lol
Aug 24, 2015 at 1:53 PM - Mike Kelly: though i got another liver disorder, so yay genetics
Aug 24, 2015 at 1:53 PM - Mike Glass: the 123 app also does that JB
    Aug 24, 2015 at 1:54 PM - jbigler1986: i tried it. it was horrible
Aug 24, 2015 at 1:55 PM - Mike Glass: allthread frame, no thinks
Aug 24, 2015 at 1:56 PM - Mike Kelly: allthread is the worst
Aug 24, 2015 at 1:57 PM - Mike Glass: come on it is so straight and rigid
    Aug 24, 2015 at 1:58 PM - jbigler1986: that's why i wouldn't get the cheapest hictop
Aug 24, 2015 at 1:58 PM - Mike Kelly: where's don when you need him
    Aug 24, 2015 at 1:59 PM - jbigler1986: for?
Aug 24, 2015 at 1:59 PM - Blake Benefield: MG, Don't use the allthread frame, just use extruded alum
Aug 24, 2015 at 2:00 PM - Blake Benefield: build it like the hic
Aug 24, 2015 at 2:00 PM - Blake Benefield: problem solved
Aug 24, 2015 at 2:00 PM - Mike Kelly: he'll build the spider before he builds a prusa :)
    Aug 24, 2015 at 2:02 PM - jbigler1986: tiko all the way
    Aug 24, 2015 at 2:03 PM - Mike Kelly: i'd rather a 3DR
Aug 24, 2015 at 2:04 PM - jbigler1986: "Last word was pre order in Dec. 2015 with delivery starting on April 2016. Price has not been announced."
Aug 24, 2015 at 2:04 PM - jbigler1986: how much money did they actually raise?
    Aug 24, 2015 at 2:05 PM - Mike Kelly: who's this
Aug 24, 2015 at 2:05 PM - Mike Kelly: tiko?
    Aug 24, 2015 at 2:05 PM - Mike Kelly: 2.95mil
    Aug 24, 2015 at 2:05 PM - jbigler1986: yeah
Aug 24, 2015 at 2:10 PM - Mike Glass: that is insane
Aug 24, 2015 at 2:11 PM - Mike Kelly: it sure is
Aug 24, 2015 at 2:11 PM - Mike Kelly: i think with that much money the economy of scale might work in their favor
Aug 24, 2015 at 2:12 PM - Blake Benefield: friend of mine backed it
Aug 24, 2015 at 2:12 PM - Mike Kelly: i'm pretty sure that assuming they manage to actually ship it, they'll be completely unable to support their end users
Aug 24, 2015 at 2:12 PM - Mike Kelly: kinda like what happened to robo
Aug 24, 2015 at 2:12 PM - Mike Kelly: but worse
Aug 24, 2015 at 2:16 PM - Blake Benefield: its mostly plastic isn't it? I figure it's gonna break like mad
Aug 24, 2015 at 2:17 PM - Mike Kelly: yeah i think the only metal on it is the motors and the hot end
Aug 24, 2015 at 2:17 PM - jbigler1986: y clip installed. to bad i didn't have the part i need to print here. looks like i will install SW tomorrow
Aug 24, 2015 at 2:18 PM - Blake Benefield: it said the top part was extruded aluminum MK, but still
Aug 24, 2015 at 2:18 PM - jbigler1986: that thing will break in shipping
Aug 24, 2015 at 2:19 PM - Mike Kelly: the tiko?
    Aug 24, 2015 at 2:19 PM - jbigler1986: yeah
    Aug 24, 2015 at 2:19 PM - Mike Kelly: i don't think so
Aug 24, 2015 at 2:19 PM - jbigler1986: well it will be broke before it even ships
    Aug 24, 2015 at 2:20 PM - jbigler1986: print speed 10mm/s. hell yeah
Aug 24, 2015 at 2:20 PM - Mike Kelly: that thing would be painfully slow
Aug 24, 2015 at 2:21 PM - jbigler1986: i need to print this ring for my kid. Ok. It will be done tomorrow
Aug 24, 2015 at 2:24 PM - Blake Benefield: but it is cheap
Aug 24, 2015 at 2:24 PM - Mike Kelly: sure is
Aug 24, 2015 at 2:24 PM - Mike Kelly: if you don't care about speed or quality i'm sure it's fine
    Aug 24, 2015 at 2:25 PM - jbigler1986: perfect for cricket skateboards
Aug 24, 2015 at 2:25 PM - jbigler1986: alright. just been wasting time so the drive home doesn't take 2 hours
Aug 24, 2015 at 2:27 PM - Mike Kelly: alright man catch ya later
Aug 24, 2015 at 2:27 PM - Mike Kelly: also 2 hours holy shit
    Aug 24, 2015 at 2:27 PM - jbigler1986: well traffic is insane if i leave between 5 and 5:30
Aug 24, 2015 at 2:27 PM - jbigler1986: any other time it only takes 50
Aug 24, 2015 at 2:28 PM - Blake Benefield: No traffic for me, just a 2 hour drive
Aug 24, 2015 at 2:28 PM - jbigler1986: it use to be only 15 minutes
Aug 24, 2015 at 2:28 PM - Mike Kelly: i hated when my commute was 1:15 i don't know how you do it
    Aug 24, 2015 at 2:28 PM - jbigler1986: yeah i wouldn't go any farther
Aug 24, 2015 at 2:29 PM - jbigler1986: 50 is my max. now i need a car with better gas mileage
Aug 24, 2015 at 2:29 PM - Mike Kelly: that was a big reason i wasn't too excited about aleph
Aug 24, 2015 at 2:30 PM - Mike Kelly: would have been fun working there, but 1:20 commute in good traffic
Aug 24, 2015 at 2:30 PM - jbigler1986: MK did you see the table after i added the drawers
    Aug 24, 2015 at 2:30 PM - Mike Kelly: yeah i did
Aug 24, 2015 at 2:30 PM - Mike Kelly: you're really making me want to build a table
Aug 24, 2015 at 2:31 PM - Mike Kelly: i need to figure out how big of a CNC table i can make
Aug 24, 2015 at 2:31 PM - jbigler1986: and that's with me having like no experience or wood working skills
Aug 24, 2015 at 2:31 PM - Blake Benefield: I just change stores... sometimes its a 10 minute drive, sometimes hours. last week we stayed in Mississippi wednesday night
Aug 24, 2015 at 2:31 PM - jbigler1986: i'm sure it would take you a lot less time
Aug 24, 2015 at 2:32 PM - Mike Kelly: if the awning table is any indication it won't :)
    Aug 24, 2015 at 2:32 PM - jbigler1986: lol
Aug 24, 2015 at 2:32 PM - Mike Kelly: do they pay your mileage blake?
Aug 24, 2015 at 2:32 PM - Mike Glass: lol True
    Aug 24, 2015 at 2:32 PM - jbigler1986: alright. leaving now
Aug 24, 2015 at 2:32 PM - Mike Kelly: later
    Aug 24, 2015 at 2:35 PM - donhuevo: ... and back

Aug 24, 2015 at 2:35 PM - Mike Kelly: wouldn't you have needed to be here to be back?
Aug 24, 2015 at 2:35 PM - Mike Glass: repeat
Aug 24, 2015 at 2:35 PM - donhuevo: cha cha cha
Aug 24, 2015 at 2:35 PM - Blake Benefield: They provide the car MK
    Aug 24, 2015 at 2:36 PM - Mike Kelly: that's good
Aug 24, 2015 at 2:41 PM - Mike Kelly: i'm going to see incubus and death from above 1979 tonight at red rocks
Aug 24, 2015 at 2:41 PM - Mike Kelly: i don't know why but i always get anxiety about that, i guess it's just cause i know i can do nothing else this evening
    Aug 24, 2015 at 2:41 PM - donhuevo: enjoy!
Aug 24, 2015 at 2:42 PM - donhuevo: take a pill, then enjoy!
Aug 24, 2015 at 2:43 PM - Mike Kelly: haha
Aug 24, 2015 at 2:44 PM - Mike Kelly: bring some of your pills to CO
Aug 24, 2015 at 2:45 PM - donhuevo: don't think I'd make it in time
Aug 24, 2015 at 2:51 PM - Mike Kelly: just get an amazon drone
Aug 24, 2015 at 2:53 PM - Mike Kelly: man i hate those E3D knockoffs
Aug 24, 2015 at 2:54 PM - Mike Kelly: such shit things
Aug 24, 2015 at 2:59 PM - PeterkSharma: did you get a drone dilevery?
Aug 24, 2015 at 3:01 PM - PeterkSharma: what would be a practical example of a need for the cyclops?
Aug 24, 2015 at 3:02 PM - Mike Kelly: you're printing materials with similar temp profiles and you don't want to worry about clipping or oozing
Aug 24, 2015 at 3:16 PM - PeterkSharma: can it set what material is being pushed through?
Aug 24, 2015 at 3:16 PM - PeterkSharma: like just choose 1 at a time
Aug 24, 2015 at 3:16 PM - PeterkSharma: or is it a constant mix
Aug 24, 2015 at 3:17 PM - donhuevo: there is no mixing. only one or the other
Aug 24, 2015 at 3:17 PM - Mike Kelly: correct
Aug 24, 2015 at 3:17 PM - Mike Kelly: it actually can do some slight mixing, but E3D calls it "toothpaste extrusion"
Aug 24, 2015 at 3:21 PM - PeterkSharma: ohhhhh so the point isnt to mix?
    Aug 24, 2015 at 3:21 PM - PeterkSharma: gotcha
Aug 24, 2015 at 3:21 PM - Mike Glass: it should be
Aug 24, 2015 at 3:22 PM - PeterkSharma: i could run cyclops and v6 right?
Aug 24, 2015 at 3:22 PM - PeterkSharma: does the board have space for 3 extruders or 2?
Aug 24, 2015 at 3:22 PM - Mike Glass: haha no you couldnt not enough room
    Aug 24, 2015 at 3:23 PM - Mike Kelly: only 2
Aug 24, 2015 at 3:23 PM - Mike Glass: you can add 2
Aug 24, 2015 at 3:23 PM - Mike Glass: or have only 2
Aug 24, 2015 at 3:23 PM - Mike Kelly: in theory it's possible to add a 3rd, but you'd need to be more skilled at electronics than I to pull it off
Aug 24, 2015 at 3:23 PM - PeterkSharma: thats the theoretical problem? or is it a physical space problem?
    Aug 24, 2015 at 3:24 PM - PeterkSharma: whats*
Aug 24, 2015 at 3:24 PM - donhuevo: less theoretical than faster-than-light travel
Aug 24, 2015 at 3:26 PM - Mike Kelly: you'd need to make a separate circuit for the various stepper driver inputs and then the stepper driver outputs to the stepper motor
Aug 24, 2015 at 3:26 PM - Mike Kelly: another thermistor input
Aug 24, 2015 at 3:26 PM - Mike Kelly: and anotehr mosfet controlled PWM heater output
Aug 24, 2015 at 3:26 PM - Mike Kelly: and then program marlin to understand all that
Aug 24, 2015 at 3:27 PM - donhuevo: FTL is only slightly less do-able
Aug 24, 2015 at 3:27 PM - Mike Glass: Smoothie board?
    Aug 24, 2015 at 3:27 PM - donhuevo: nope.
Aug 24, 2015 at 3:28 PM - Mike Glass: I thought they had one with 7 drivers
Aug 24, 2015 at 3:28 PM - donhuevo: I'd love to see a picture of that
    Aug 24, 2015 at 3:28 PM - Mike Kelly: they're about 1:1
Aug 24, 2015 at 3:29 PM - Mike Kelly: smoothieboard has only 5 axis
Aug 24, 2015 at 3:29 PM - Mike Kelly: the Azteeg X3 Pro has 7 axis
Aug 24, 2015 at 3:29 PM - Mike Kelly: someone asked smoothie about support more axis, they were like "lol why that's dumb"
Aug 24, 2015 at 3:29 PM - Mike Kelly: sooo
Aug 24, 2015 at 3:33 PM - Mike Glass: 8 Stepper drivers and up to 5 extruders for the azteeg.. damn
Aug 24, 2015 at 3:33 PM - donhuevo: and mg starts to plan to build his next printer
Aug 24, 2015 at 3:33 PM - Mike Glass: probably what the beast uses
Aug 24, 2015 at 3:36 PM - Mike Kelly: yeah the azteeg is insane
Aug 24, 2015 at 3:36 PM - Mike Kelly: really they made it for the kraken
Aug 24, 2015 at 3:42 PM - Mike Kelly: man i'm having a brain fart
Aug 24, 2015 at 3:44 PM - donhuevo: need some mental Febreze
Aug 24, 2015 at 3:52 PM - PeterkSharma: isnt there a duet board or something you can add a seperate board to?
Aug 24, 2015 at 3:53 PM - PeterkSharma: what about running everything from a pi 2?
Aug 24, 2015 at 3:54 PM - PeterkSharma: anyone know if I get the standard mount or the Rep Rap mount? http://shop.bondtech.se/ec/extruders/bondtech-extruder-v2-175-universal.html
Aug 24, 2015 at 4:00 PM - Mike Kelly: for bowden?
Aug 24, 2015 at 4:00 PM - Mike Kelly: probably standard
Aug 24, 2015 at 4:01 PM - donhuevo: mike, what plastic did they use for the bondtech body?
Aug 24, 2015 at 4:02 PM - PeterkSharma: direct drive
Aug 24, 2015 at 4:02 PM - PeterkSharma: at the moment
Aug 24, 2015 at 4:02 PM - PeterkSharma: its SLA resin
Aug 24, 2015 at 4:02 PM - donhuevo: Peter, shouldn't you be packing?
    Aug 24, 2015 at 4:02 PM - PeterkSharma: yup
Aug 24, 2015 at 4:03 PM - PeterkSharma: im totally not
    Aug 24, 2015 at 4:03 PM - PeterkSharma: hahahaha
Aug 24, 2015 at 4:03 PM - PeterkSharma: talk about making a stressfull situation worse
Aug 24, 2015 at 4:03 PM - donhuevo: yep. procrastination rarely ends well
Aug 24, 2015 at 4:07 PM - PeterkSharma: yeah, i kinda had a breakdown last night
    Aug 24, 2015 at 4:07 PM - PeterkSharma: but I have a plan!
    Aug 24, 2015 at 4:07 PM - PeterkSharma: 1 room a day.
Aug 24, 2015 at 4:07 PM - PeterkSharma: I will not sleep tonight until my kitchen is pcaket
Aug 24, 2015 at 4:10 PM - donhuevo: well, I'm not gonna be an enabler. I'm going to ignore you until you tell me your kitchen is pcaket
Aug 24, 2015 at 4:13 PM - PeterkSharma: lol, I'm actually about to hop off here. the girlfriend just showed up to start helping
Aug 24, 2015 at 4:13 PM - PeterkSharma: I'll leave you all with this crazy 5 axis printer.
    Aug 24, 2015 at 4:13 PM - PeterkSharma:

Aug 24, 2015 at 4:16 PM - Mike Kelly: This Robbie part is definitely the biggest thing I've ever printed
Aug 24, 2015 at 4:16 PM - donhuevo: so you're the lucky one that got Robbie's wedding tackle
Aug 24, 2015 at 4:17 PM - Mike Kelly: Lol I think this is part of his leg maybe
Aug 24, 2015 at 4:18 PM - donhuevo: so is the concert cooler all packed?

Aug 24, 2015 at 4:20 PM - donhuevo: I was in pharmacies today
Aug 24, 2015 at 4:20 PM - donhuevo: only saw my desk for about 20 minutes this morning

Aug 24, 2015 at 4:24 PM - donhuevo: I'm not going to enable his procrastination
Aug 24, 2015 at 4:25 PM - donhuevo: and NO. you aren't allowed to make your girlfriend do all the work
Aug 24, 2015 at 4:25 PM - jbigler1986: Oh. Peter pack your kitchen
Aug 24, 2015 at 4:26 PM - donhuevo: so yeah... first pharmacy had a bad KVM swith and two OKI dot matrix printers acting up
    Aug 24, 2015 at 4:27 PM - donhuevo: 2nd pharmacy's cellular backup internet modem wasn't getting a signal
Aug 24, 2015 at 4:27 PM - jbigler1986: Why dont you have minions for that kind of work
    Aug 24, 2015 at 4:27 PM - donhuevo: right?
Aug 24, 2015 at 4:28 PM - donhuevo: totally minionless
Aug 24, 2015 at 4:28 PM - donhuevo: I should contact some of the local technical schools and see how many free interns I can get my hands on
Aug 24, 2015 at 4:29 PM - jbigler1986: Not acceptable. I will now ignore you until you get some

Aug 24, 2015 at 4:29 PM - donhuevo: I'm ignoring you until you get the office robo printing
Aug 24, 2015 at 4:29 PM - Blake Benefield: You're really gonna have fun trying to sort it out once they've had their hands in it
Aug 24, 2015 at 4:29 PM - jbigler1986: So yeah. Robo quality control was at its best
Aug 24, 2015 at 4:30 PM - donhuevo: blake, the pharmacies never see me unless it's a problem I can't fix remotely
Aug 24, 2015 at 4:30 PM - jbigler1986: Super glue saved the day. They should start including 2 y clips instead of just one
Aug 24, 2015 at 4:31 PM - donhuevo: so it printed?
Aug 24, 2015 at 4:31 PM - jbigler1986: They have to of broke at the same time. Or else the 2nd one should have had no tension
Aug 24, 2015 at 4:31 PM - Blake Benefield: I havent got to ours yet. But he said there was something black snd broken in the box
Aug 24, 2015 at 4:31 PM - Blake Benefield: Atleast i csn use the hic to print

Aug 24, 2015 at 4:34 PM - donhuevo: they should read 'printed in china'
Aug 24, 2015 at 4:35 PM - jbigler1986: Felt weird installing s3d and arduino on my work computer
Aug 24, 2015 at 4:35 PM - donhuevo: but you liked it
    Aug 24, 2015 at 4:35 PM - jbigler1986: I did
Aug 24, 2015 at 4:36 PM - jbigler1986: Now im going to have them want me to print random shit after the parts they need are done
Aug 24, 2015 at 4:36 PM - jbigler1986: Have you tested the Igus yet?
Aug 24, 2015 at 4:37 PM - donhuevo: a squinty cup for every desk
Aug 24, 2015 at 4:37 PM - donhuevo: there's some potentially huge Igus news on the horizon.

    Aug 24, 2015 at 4:37 PM - jbigler1986: What kind
Aug 24, 2015 at 4:37 PM - donhuevo: after all the bitching from the 3d printing community, they came up with a linear bearing that exactly matches the LM8UU for a little over $2 eah
Aug 24, 2015 at 4:38 PM - donhuevo: samples imminent
Aug 24, 2015 at 4:38 PM - donhuevo: those bushings will work but lots of fiddling to get them just right
    Aug 24, 2015 at 4:39 PM - donhuevo: I'm not much of a fiddler
Aug 24, 2015 at 4:39 PM - jbigler1986: So they are going to do high quality lm8uu?
Aug 24, 2015 at 4:40 PM - donhuevo: I'll know more when the samples are in my hands. Should be a straight up swap
    Aug 24, 2015 at 4:40 PM - jbigler1986: Interesting

Aug 24, 2015 at 4:42 PM - jbigler1986: Even the "non drowsy" ones do it too

Aug 24, 2015 at 5:51 PM - nonmindo: question, Just got Simplify3D, didnt wanna read through the simplify 3d thread if its not in there, but does anyone know if anyone got the auto bed leveling working in it, instead of their "bed level wizard"?
    Aug 24, 2015 at 5:51 PM - jbigler1986: i'm not a pancake fan
Aug 24, 2015 at 5:52 PM - jbigler1986: yeah. choose the Robo with autolevel when setting it up
Aug 24, 2015 at 5:52 PM - nonmindo: i didnt have any options on setup
Aug 24, 2015 at 5:52 PM - jbigler1986: it adds the correct gcode for you
Aug 24, 2015 at 5:52 PM - nonmindo: it was "other" and that was it
    Aug 24, 2015 at 5:52 PM - nonmindo: v3.0

Aug 24, 2015 at 5:53 PM - nonmindo: literally the first box that came up "choose a printer" click the box and the only thing in the dropdown was "other"
Aug 24, 2015 at 5:53 PM - jbigler1986: Well in the gcode section on the start tab
Aug 24, 2015 at 5:53 PM - Droid: when simplified asks what printer you have when doing initial set up nonmindo
Aug 24, 2015 at 5:53 PM - nonmindo: anyway, if its just g-code, couldnt i just copy that out from MC(not all of it, as i understand the S3D g-code is pretty good)
    Aug 24, 2015 at 5:53 PM - jbigler1986: Don't copy anything from Mattercrap
    Aug 24, 2015 at 5:54 PM - nonmindo: lol

Aug 24, 2015 at 5:55 PM - nonmindo: k. I'm at work, so I'll write down any steps, or if its in the S3D thread over in the software section i can poke through there
    Aug 24, 2015 at 5:56 PM - jbigler1986: you just need to add G29 Then on a new line add M565 Z-1
Aug 24, 2015 at 5:56 PM - nonmindo: There may be a reason I wasnt given printer options, but we'll leave that out of the equation for now...
Aug 24, 2015 at 5:56 PM - jbigler1986: in the start gcode tab
Aug 24, 2015 at 5:56 PM - nonmindo: Z-1? but wouldnt that mess with my actual z offset?
Aug 24, 2015 at 5:57 PM - nonmindo: ok that simple, thought so, just wasnt sure
Aug 24, 2015 at 5:57 PM - nonmindo: my z offset in MC is currently .64
Aug 24, 2015 at 5:57 PM - jbigler1986: -1 you can enter whatever value works for you

Aug 24, 2015 at 5:57 PM - Droid: easy, open S3D, go to HELP scroll down to configuration assistant, another window pops up telling you to select printer, find ROBO3D R1 (with auto-level), hit next, your done

Aug 24, 2015 at 5:57 PM - Blake Benefield: Almost home!

    Aug 24, 2015 at 5:58 PM - nonmindo: G29 on one line, then the next toss in a M565 Z .65

Aug 24, 2015 at 5:58 PM - nonmindo: ok so is the - a minus or a dash (just for the sake of the programmer in me)

    Aug 24, 2015 at 5:59 PM - nonmindo: ok
Aug 24, 2015 at 5:59 PM - Droid: if your Simplified3d is up to date there should be no reason why it wont let you select a printer.... you shouldnt need to write in the code at all....
Aug 24, 2015 at 5:59 PM - jbigler1986: well it is technically the same symbol
Aug 24, 2015 at 5:59 PM - nonmindo: There is a reason there is no printer.... I'm sure of it....its a......sort of "trial" if you will
    Aug 24, 2015 at 5:59 PM - donhuevo: Arrrr
Aug 24, 2015 at 6:00 PM - jbigler1986: did you get it from a guy with an eye patch

    Aug 24, 2015 at 6:00 PM - jbigler1986: don knows
    Aug 24, 2015 at 6:00 PM - nonmindo: lol
Aug 24, 2015 at 6:00 PM - jbigler1986: i installed 2.2 from the eye patch man today and it gave me the option to select a printer
Aug 24, 2015 at 6:01 PM - nonmindo: If it works as well as I hope it does, it'll make it out of trial status REAL quick
Aug 24, 2015 at 6:01 PM - nonmindo: i got 3.0 from him....you need to go back and talk to him
Aug 24, 2015 at 6:01 PM - nonmindo: or maybe not lol
    Aug 24, 2015 at 6:01 PM - jbigler1986: hmmm

    Aug 24, 2015 at 6:03 PM - Droid: im running version 3.0.1 , newest version of S3D
Aug 24, 2015 at 6:03 PM - donhuevo: might be talking to the wrong guy
    Aug 24, 2015 at 6:03 PM - jbigler1986: i don't see it either
Aug 24, 2015 at 6:03 PM - daniel871: Welp, so much for that XT print, about 3/4 of the bottom stayed behind on the PEI when I tried to pry it off the bed.
Aug 24, 2015 at 6:03 PM - jbigler1986: the first link had me excited
    Aug 24, 2015 at 6:03 PM - daniel871: Bottom layer.
Aug 24, 2015 at 6:04 PM - daniel871: So it seems PEI works *too* well for XT adhesion.
Aug 24, 2015 at 6:04 PM - donhuevo: I had my nylon bridge do that on painter's tape
Aug 24, 2015 at 6:05 PM - jbigler1986: so you want to PM us the peg leg man link
Aug 24, 2015 at 6:05 PM - daniel871: So the pink ABS part will print tonight to see if it does any better.
Aug 24, 2015 at 6:05 PM - nonmindo: @jb already sent you pegleg mans details :)
    Aug 24, 2015 at 6:06 PM - jbigler1986: i just found it. lol
    Aug 24, 2015 at 6:06 PM - nonmindo: hah
    Aug 24, 2015 at 6:06 PM - Droid: [IMG]
Aug 24, 2015 at 6:06 PM - daniel871: On a side note, loaded up on drugs for sinus/allergy problems a little while ago and it's starting to take effect, so I'm probably going to bed.
    Aug 24, 2015 at 6:06 PM - Droid: [IMG]
Aug 24, 2015 at 6:06 PM - daniel871: Yeah, you go to Configuration Assistant to choose your machine.
    Aug 24, 2015 at 6:06 PM - Droid: [IMG]
Aug 24, 2015 at 6:07 PM - nonmindo: its not in there, I'm telling you, that was the same window that opened as soon as i launched S3d for the first time
    Aug 24, 2015 at 6:07 PM - nonmindo: lol
    Aug 24, 2015 at 6:07 PM - daniel871: The login?
    Aug 24, 2015 at 6:07 PM - jbigler1986: i will check. 1 sec
Aug 24, 2015 at 6:07 PM - nonmindo: ok maybe not hte first....there is no "login"
Aug 24, 2015 at 6:07 PM - nonmindo: on my "trial"
    Aug 24, 2015 at 6:07 PM - nonmindo: i know there /should/ be a login and /should/ be a robo printer
Aug 24, 2015 at 6:08 PM - Droid: log into Simplified3D's website and make sure yours is up to date
Aug 24, 2015 at 6:08 PM - Droid: may want to reinstall it
    Aug 24, 2015 at 6:08 PM - donhuevo: haha
Aug 24, 2015 at 6:08 PM - donhuevo: I can almost hear the alarms now
Aug 24, 2015 at 6:08 PM - daniel871: I've only had the login show up the very first time I ran it. After that it just went to the main Simplify3D screen when I started it.
Aug 24, 2015 at 6:08 PM - nonmindo: ohh I'll re-install it for sure once I'm done with the "trial"
Aug 24, 2015 at 6:09 PM - daniel871: Well, my PC is giving me notifications that it's ready for Windows 10, but I'm reluctant to pull the trigger now.
Aug 24, 2015 at 6:09 PM - nonmindo: I got all the settings input for the param's of the printer, just wasnt sure how to setup the auto level, when i checked their auto level wizard i was like "ooooooohhhhh its like that huh?"
Aug 24, 2015 at 6:09 PM - Droid: your running a "trial" version?
Aug 24, 2015 at 6:09 PM - nonmindo: @Daniel I'm running W10 and so far everything i have thrown at it has worked as well as if not better than it ever did in W7
    Aug 24, 2015 at 6:10 PM - nonmindo: @Droid yea "trial"
    Aug 24, 2015 at 6:10 PM - daniel871: I've got a few russian programs I don't want to lose.
Aug 24, 2015 at 6:10 PM - nonmindo: $150 is a lot to drop without doing a trial first yea?
Aug 24, 2015 at 6:10 PM - Droid: i also have yet to have any issues with windows 10 daniel
Aug 24, 2015 at 6:11 PM - Droid: i guess for some nonmindo
Aug 24, 2015 at 6:11 PM - daniel871: You running any programs that some friends in russia hooked you up with?
Aug 24, 2015 at 6:11 PM - nonmindo: haha the only thing that i had that didnt work was some sign cutting software i had from when i had a vinyl plotter.....but it was either the plotter or the 3d printer...sooooo......plotter got CUT
Aug 24, 2015 at 6:11 PM - jbigler1986: yep. he is correct. just says other
Aug 24, 2015 at 6:12 PM - Droid: i hated mattercontrol and didnt care for the interfaces of other slicers, just said f*** it and spent the 150 and have had no regrets
Aug 24, 2015 at 6:12 PM - donhuevo: there has to be a text file or ini something or other with all those defaults in it
Aug 24, 2015 at 6:12 PM - nonmindo: I'm sure once i print 1 or 2 things i'll upgrade it from "trial" to full, just the way the supports work alone is prolly worth it lol
Aug 24, 2015 at 6:13 PM - nonmindo: @don im sure there is, prolly like cura's profiles
Aug 24, 2015 at 6:13 PM - jbigler1986: what is the robo build dimensions? i'm to lazy to look it up
    Aug 24, 2015 at 6:14 PM - nonmindo: 228/254/228 i think
Aug 24, 2015 at 6:14 PM - Droid: to me its 100% worth it, before i didnt want to make stuff for "paying customers" now, Im almost done with one job and have another 3 waiting
Aug 24, 2015 at 6:14 PM - nonmindo: thats kinda where im at too, people hittin me up left and right for things, I'm all like...well.... I need to get the calibration PERFECT before i feel comfortable charging for things
Aug 24, 2015 at 6:15 PM - jbigler1986: go to edit processes > show advanced > scripts > starting Scripts
Aug 24, 2015 at 6:15 PM - nonmindo: speaking of.... I dont know what happened but i've been moving between ABS/PLA/PETG and making minor adjustments here and there and suddenly my prints are coming out amazing at even .3....
    Aug 24, 2015 at 6:17 PM - jbigler1986: G28; home X,Y,Z axis G1 Z5 F5000; will lift Z axis by 5 mm M565 Z-1; sets the offset for the auto-leveling mechanism by 1 mm G29; runs auto-level
Aug 24, 2015 at 6:18 PM - Droid: ive been printing with a .6 nozzle at .3 layer height and it looks great. thelead screws helped out 1000% one the print quality too
Aug 24, 2015 at 6:18 PM - jbigler1986: non there is the gcode to paste in the starting script
Aug 24, 2015 at 6:19 PM - nonmindo: ok perfect. if i want the z lift to be 2mm on probe i would just change that 5 to a 2 yea?
    Aug 24, 2015 at 6:20 PM - jbigler1986: i wouldn't do 2 in case your bed isn't level
Aug 24, 2015 at 6:20 PM - nonmindo: I'm currently running it at 2 in MC, its working fine
Aug 24, 2015 at 6:20 PM - nonmindo: well not in MC
    Aug 24, 2015 at 6:21 PM - nonmindo: I set it to 2 in config.h
Aug 24, 2015 at 6:22 PM - nonmindo: i havent done the lead screw upgrade yet, but i do have the newer model that has the M8 rods that go into the case.... I also got some set screw couplers, later i might buy the R1+ upgrade kit......just not sure which im going to get next..... E3Dv6, R1+ upgrade, or S3D
Aug 24, 2015 at 6:23 PM - jbigler1986: do the lead screw upgrade
    Aug 24, 2015 at 6:23 PM - nonmindo: yea?
Aug 24, 2015 at 6:23 PM - nonmindo: think that would be the one to do first?
    Aug 24, 2015 at 6:23 PM - jbigler1986: yep
    Aug 24, 2015 at 6:23 PM - jbigler1986: makes a huge difference
Aug 24, 2015 at 6:24 PM - nonmindo: I had also thought about printing all the parts i want to upgrade, buying the lead screws, some new LED's, and the E3D and doing it all at once
Aug 24, 2015 at 6:24 PM - nonmindo: jb were you the one that had the dual extruder, externally on either side?
Aug 24, 2015 at 6:24 PM - jbigler1986: that's the best way to do it. Only take the printer apart once
    Aug 24, 2015 at 6:24 PM - jbigler1986: yeah
Aug 24, 2015 at 6:24 PM - jbigler1986: daniel ended up doing it that way too
Aug 24, 2015 at 6:25 PM - nonmindo: do you have a write up or maybe a couple good pics you could send me and a BOM? I LOVE that setup
Aug 24, 2015 at 6:26 PM - nonmindo: I'm really leaning toward doing a dual v6 or cyclops setup....I think that having the ability to print 2 materials will actually be a huge improvement

Aug 24, 2015 at 6:26 PM - jbigler1986: I would have to check if I took pics. Don't have the printer right now. Pretty easy BOM though
    Aug 24, 2015 at 6:26 PM - jbigler1986: 2skateboard bearings,
Aug 24, 2015 at 6:26 PM - nonmindo: I remember the gist of it and the pic you posted a few days back is in the shoutbox archive thread, i found it the other day, that would be fine....just dunno where to get the extruder cold end
    Aug 24, 2015 at 6:27 PM - jbigler1986: Print 2 hercustruders, 2 5:1 geared steppers, 5' bowden tube
Aug 24, 2015 at 6:27 PM - jbigler1986: then some odds and ends nuts and bolts
    Aug 24, 2015 at 6:27 PM - nonmindo: PLA/PETG/ABS?
Aug 24, 2015 at 6:28 PM - nonmindo: prolly pla is fine since cold end
    Aug 24, 2015 at 6:28 PM - jbigler1986: yep
    Aug 24, 2015 at 6:28 PM - nonmindo: kk
Aug 24, 2015 at 6:28 PM - jbigler1986: oh and MK8 drive gear. Make sure to get geared steppers with 8mm shaft
    Aug 24, 2015 at 6:28 PM - nonmindo: i saw some metal(alu) ones o ebay....but I'm afriad of ebay parts lol
Aug 24, 2015 at 6:28 PM - donhuevo: I've been running a PLA carriage forever now with no problems
    Aug 24, 2015 at 6:28 PM - jbigler1986: same
    Aug 24, 2015 at 6:29 PM - jbigler1986: MK8 drive gear with 8mm bore
Aug 24, 2015 at 6:30 PM - nonmindo: that 5ft of bowden im guessing cut in half and its perfect for both sides
    Aug 24, 2015 at 6:30 PM - jbigler1986: that is correct
Aug 24, 2015 at 6:30 PM - jbigler1986: i would get more just in case
Aug 24, 2015 at 6:30 PM - nonmindo: and with the v6 and this setup you can run flexible materials like TPE and TPU
Aug 24, 2015 at 6:30 PM - nonmindo: yea i'd prolly got for 6-8ft if there is an option
Aug 24, 2015 at 6:31 PM - jbigler1986: i think flex material and bowden is no bueno
Aug 24, 2015 at 6:32 PM - donhuevo: that may be why they came out with the ninja semi-flex
    Aug 24, 2015 at 6:32 PM - jbigler1986: could be
Aug 24, 2015 at 6:32 PM - donhuevo: to make it all bueno
Aug 24, 2015 at 6:32 PM - nonmindo: thats what i was reading too, but it was either in MK's guide or somewhere else that i read that the the v6 is designed in such a way that there isnt an issue, i was just wondering if you had tried first hand
Aug 24, 2015 at 6:32 PM - jbigler1986: still don't think it would work. It may though
Aug 24, 2015 at 6:33 PM - jbigler1986: it's not the hotend itself when it comes to bowden and flex
Aug 24, 2015 at 6:33 PM - nonmindo: it was due to the bowden tube for the v6 having tighter tolerance and the fact that it goes all the way to the heat break that made it compat if i remember
    Aug 24, 2015 at 6:34 PM - jbigler1986: that's not the problem
Aug 24, 2015 at 6:34 PM - nonmindo: what other +/- have you noticed when running bowden (3d printing is still fairly new to me)
Aug 24, 2015 at 6:34 PM - donhuevo: the problem is the compression and stretching inside the bowden tube on the way to the hot end
    Aug 24, 2015 at 6:34 PM - jbigler1986: ^
Aug 24, 2015 at 6:35 PM - donhuevo: bowden means a lighter carriage which means faster speeds
Aug 24, 2015 at 6:35 PM - nonmindo: tries to feed, nozzle not ready, flexy material pushes back, but at the same time extruder pushing forward causing the flexi material to bulge and get stuck in the tube maybe?
Aug 24, 2015 at 6:35 PM - donhuevo: like going from dial-up to dsl
Aug 24, 2015 at 6:35 PM - jbigler1986: and a lot of headache to get it setup correct.
Aug 24, 2015 at 6:36 PM - donhuevo: I didn't have the pains you did
Aug 24, 2015 at 6:36 PM - jbigler1986: It took me like 1 and a half months to get bowden going good
    Aug 24, 2015 at 6:36 PM - jbigler1986: Yeah but I learned a ton in the process
Aug 24, 2015 at 6:36 PM - nonmindo: hmmm maybe this is a bit too advanced for me currently lol
Aug 24, 2015 at 6:36 PM - nonmindo: well then there is that side of the coin to....i do tend to learn better when i just jump into the pool rather than slowly ease into it
    Aug 24, 2015 at 6:37 PM - jbigler1986: just don't be afraid to mod/upgrade the printer
Aug 24, 2015 at 6:37 PM - nonmindo: oh I'm not... I'm more afraid to break something that is going to cost me alot to fix early on lol
Aug 24, 2015 at 6:37 PM - donhuevo: bowden really is no big deal. I needed to increase my retraction a little was all
Aug 24, 2015 at 6:37 PM - nonmindo: luckily i've come to learn each part individually none are over $100
Aug 24, 2015 at 6:37 PM - donhuevo: and increase my print speeds a lot
Aug 24, 2015 at 6:37 PM - jbigler1986: yep. i have broke my printer so many times modding/upgrading it since I knew nothing about 3d printer or cnc machines
Aug 24, 2015 at 6:38 PM - donhuevo: I caught mine on fire twice
Aug 24, 2015 at 6:38 PM - nonmindo: don where do you print at now, speed wise?
Aug 24, 2015 at 6:38 PM - nonmindo: maybe printing too fast Don
Aug 24, 2015 at 6:38 PM - nonmindo: i hear if you slow it down, it has less chance of spontaneous combustion lol
    Aug 24, 2015 at 6:39 PM - jbigler1986: I got mine printing at 120mm/s
Aug 24, 2015 at 6:39 PM - donhuevo: the fast column... [IMG]
Aug 24, 2015 at 6:39 PM - nonmindo: damn i thought i was livin life on the edge at 70mm/s lol
Aug 24, 2015 at 6:39 PM - jbigler1986: stock setup you can actually print at 90 fine
    Aug 24, 2015 at 6:40 PM - nonmindo: "I livce life 55mm/s at a time" lol
Aug 24, 2015 at 6:40 PM - donhuevo: I did take my acceleration down some in the firmware though to cut out the ringing
Aug 24, 2015 at 6:40 PM - jbigler1986: you will loose a little detail at 90 but for non complex parts its fine
Aug 24, 2015 at 6:40 PM - nonmindo: my accel is down around 700 i think currently
    Aug 24, 2015 at 6:40 PM - nonmindo: or was it 1300
Aug 24, 2015 at 6:40 PM - donhuevo: it was 1300 out of the box
    Aug 24, 2015 at 6:40 PM - nonmindo: then 700 lol
Aug 24, 2015 at 6:41 PM - jbigler1986: me, don, MK and daniel probably have the most modified robo's
    Aug 24, 2015 at 6:42 PM - jbigler1986: not really a robo anymore
Aug 24, 2015 at 6:42 PM - donhuevo: still have the robo logo on the bed
    Aug 24, 2015 at 6:42 PM - jbigler1986: i have a glass bed that doesn't have the logo :D
Aug 24, 2015 at 6:42 PM - Bill Monroe: back
    Aug 24, 2015 at 6:42 PM - jbigler1986: not installed though
Aug 24, 2015 at 6:43 PM - jbigler1986: where have you been Bill? I know not at work
Aug 24, 2015 at 6:43 PM - nonmindo: I had to re-glue on one of my magnets this weekend :(
Aug 24, 2015 at 6:43 PM - Bill Monroe: I've been enjoying the company of my wife
Aug 24, 2015 at 6:44 PM - nonmindo: couldnt figure out why all of a sudden the printer was resonating and the leveling was off
Aug 24, 2015 at 6:44 PM - nonmindo: but after i glued it, things got better
Aug 24, 2015 at 6:44 PM - nonmindo: here, gimme a sec and ill show the latest print
    Aug 24, 2015 at 6:46 PM - donhuevo: [IMG]
    Aug 24, 2015 at 6:46 PM - nonmindo: GAH!!
Aug 24, 2015 at 6:46 PM - nonmindo: how indecent!
Aug 24, 2015 at 6:47 PM - nonmindo: put some clothes on jeez
Aug 24, 2015 at 6:47 PM - donhuevo: too constricting
Aug 24, 2015 at 6:47 PM - nonmindo: I do like the extra z rod tho.... how much difference did that make?
Aug 24, 2015 at 6:48 PM - Mike Glass: your rod is exposed
Aug 24, 2015 at 6:48 PM - donhuevo: that and the linear steppers did wonders
Aug 24, 2015 at 6:48 PM - nonmindo: linear stepper?
Aug 24, 2015 at 6:48 PM - donhuevo: bill, just ignore this next bit
Aug 24, 2015 at 6:48 PM - nonmindo: how is that different than the stock ones (sorry if im asking alot)
    Aug 24, 2015 at 6:48 PM - Bill Monroe: NO! :)
    Aug 24, 2015 at 6:48 PM - donhuevo: damnit
    Aug 24, 2015 at 6:48 PM - nonmindo: lol
Aug 24, 2015 at 6:48 PM - donhuevo: then you go first. get it all out
    Aug 24, 2015 at 6:49 PM - nonmindo: hahahahahaha
    Aug 24, 2015 at 6:49 PM - nonmindo: ohh man...did i ask about a hot topic lol
Aug 24, 2015 at 6:49 PM - Bill Monroe: i cant help those who wont help themselves
    Aug 24, 2015 at 6:50 PM - donhuevo: http://www.omc-stepperonline.com/linear-stepper-motors-c-3.html
Aug 24, 2015 at 6:50 PM - Bill Monroe: go ahead Don, spew your misinformation :)
Aug 24, 2015 at 6:51 PM - nonmindo: wait isnt that just the same thing as the R1+ upgrade?
Aug 24, 2015 at 6:51 PM - donhuevo: we'll call it stepper slang and leave it at that
Aug 24, 2015 at 6:51 PM - donhuevo: and yes. basically the same as the upgrade
Aug 24, 2015 at 6:51 PM - Mike Glass: integrated lead screws is a better term
Aug 24, 2015 at 6:52 PM - Bill Monroe: better
    Aug 24, 2015 at 6:52 PM - nonmindo: http://www.omc-stepperonline.com/th...epper-motor-34mm-body-300mm-t8-x-8-p-218.html
Aug 24, 2015 at 6:52 PM - nonmindo: so.....obv. i'd need to go topless too...but in theory, these would upgrade the z axis quality AND capacity?

Aug 24, 2015 at 6:53 PM - donhuevo: my top will still go on but wiring to the extruder is difficult
Aug 24, 2015 at 6:53 PM - Bill Monroe: look for ones with big brass nuts, like mine :)
    Aug 24, 2015 at 6:53 PM - nonmindo: lol
Aug 24, 2015 at 6:53 PM - donhuevo: I like my smooth and creamy delrin nuts
Aug 24, 2015 at 6:54 PM - Bill Monroe: many have already worn
Aug 24, 2015 at 6:54 PM - nonmindo: but its literally that simple, take off top, swap out old stepper/drive screw setup, buy longer ones, install, print top stabilizer and voila more z volue
    Aug 24, 2015 at 6:54 PM - nonmindo: volume*
Aug 24, 2015 at 6:54 PM - Bill Monroe: and that reintroduces the classic "auto-level" (another totally incorrect term) error
Aug 24, 2015 at 6:55 PM - nonmindo: how does it cause an auto level error?
Aug 24, 2015 at 6:55 PM - nonmindo: i'd have to go with Bill here, brass nuts are better wearing than delrin BTW.....(i work a lot with ecigs, delrin insulators are the worst)
Aug 24, 2015 at 6:55 PM - Droid: i think theres a flaw in the "piece" robo sent me to print for ROBBIE, like they didnt cut the piece exact, [IMG]
Aug 24, 2015 at 6:56 PM - Bill Monroe: slop from wear allows that side to tilt, allowing theswitch to activate early.
Aug 24, 2015 at 6:56 PM - Droid: right side of the radius
Aug 24, 2015 at 6:56 PM - nonmindo: ohh well then. just no delrin nuts
Aug 24, 2015 at 6:56 PM - Bill Monroe: delrin has horrible resistance to shear forces
Aug 24, 2015 at 6:56 PM - nonmindo: i thought you meant the overall upgrade would intro the errors
Aug 24, 2015 at 6:56 PM - Bill Monroe: only when the plastic nut wear
Aug 24, 2015 at 6:57 PM - Bill Monroe: as many have already done
    Aug 24, 2015 at 6:57 PM - Bill Monroe: I bought a T8-8 tap, and made some from SAE831
Aug 24, 2015 at 6:57 PM - nonmindo: ahh well i would just look for brass anyway, i wouldnt ever use plastic for threaded anything.....even the 3d printed gears and carriages and stuff kinda freak me out for some reason
Aug 24, 2015 at 6:58 PM - nonmindo: @Droid, it does look that way.... toss it in the online netfabb fixer?
Aug 24, 2015 at 6:59 PM - nonmindo: BTW here is my latest print
    Aug 24, 2015 at 6:59 PM - nonmindo: https://www.dropbox.com/s/moafmk1slvwhezc/20150824_073230_HDR.jpg?dl=0
Aug 24, 2015 at 6:59 PM - Droid: if I print it with a .6mm nozzle it doesnt show up in print preview
Aug 24, 2015 at 6:59 PM - Mike Kelly: Death From Above 1979 >>>>> Deftones

Aug 24, 2015 at 7:00 PM - nonmindo: @Bill, yo u gonna be streaming somethin soon?
Aug 24, 2015 at 7:01 PM - Droid: @ non, yeah it still shows up after netfabb repair
Aug 24, 2015 at 7:01 PM - Bill Monroe: its going now
Aug 24, 2015 at 7:01 PM - Mike Kelly: Droid my pieces had that same issue. I rotated it 90 to see if it prints better
Aug 24, 2015 at 7:02 PM - nonmindo: @Bill, what camera setup are you using and how are you streaming to youstream?
Aug 24, 2015 at 7:03 PM - Bill Monroe: its a camera I used to use when I was teaching, USB cam that's intended to image papers
Aug 24, 2015 at 7:03 PM - nonmindo: I wanna get something setup for remote access and monitoring.... was thinking about octoprint or printtopeer but i want to still have my computer as an option too (though i know its much safer to run stand alone)
Aug 24, 2015 at 7:04 PM - Bill Monroe: i tried octojunk.. decided it wasnt worth the hassle
Aug 24, 2015 at 7:05 PM - Mike Kelly: The bottom layer like peeled off and it didn't overhang well
Aug 24, 2015 at 7:06 PM - Bill Monroe: made an arduino-based relay with internet connectivity.. if I see it messing up I can hit a button and kill the power
Aug 24, 2015 at 7:06 PM - Mike Kelly: Non I've just been using YouTube for streaming
Aug 24, 2015 at 7:07 PM - nonmindo: yea....might just hook up a webcam to computer once i get it moved into the office where it will reside permanently.... did you design a mount for the cam or did you mount it some other way
Aug 24, 2015 at 7:07 PM - nonmindo: MK whats your channel, i'd love to check out some streams
Aug 24, 2015 at 7:08 PM - Bill Monroe: mines just sitting on a roll of tape a the moment.. someday I'll get around to making a mount for it
Aug 24, 2015 at 7:08 PM - Bill Monroe: got bigger fish to fry right now
Aug 24, 2015 at 7:09 PM - nonmindo: I have RDP setup on my computer so its no biggie to have the web interface like octo offers, I can just RDP in and send kill from the slicer.....I might just do that, it seems like much easier than having to unplug pc/pi depending on how i want to print
Aug 24, 2015 at 7:09 PM - Bill Monroe: whatever works for ya
Aug 24, 2015 at 7:10 PM - nonmindo: another question, today was the first time i did a 100% solid print, is it typical that a 100% print will be better quality than one with 20% infill....
Aug 24, 2015 at 7:10 PM - Bill Monroe: not always
Aug 24, 2015 at 7:10 PM - Bill Monroe: right now I've got one running at 10 that's pretty nice
Aug 24, 2015 at 7:11 PM - nonmindo: yea I'm watchin the stream, printing nicely!
Aug 24, 2015 at 7:11 PM - Mike Kelly: Records up to 8 hours vs 3 on ustream, hd streaming, and no ads
Aug 24, 2015 at 7:11 PM - nonmindo: @Bill is that a robbie part? @MK whats your channel name on YT?
Aug 24, 2015 at 7:12 PM - Bill Monroe: yup
Aug 24, 2015 at 7:13 PM - nonmindo: I'd print a robbie piece in PETG if it didnt chew up the plastic slot in the top of the housing....printed a filament guide but it started sanding that apart and the PLA was contaminating the PETG lol
Aug 24, 2015 at 7:13 PM - Mike Kelly: I'm at a concert right now so the internet sucks. But I think if you search mtkelly04 it will show up
Aug 24, 2015 at 7:13 PM - nonmindo: nice!! have fun at the concert! I'll follow ya on YT
Aug 24, 2015 at 7:14 PM - Mike Kelly: I should have started my stream before I left
Aug 24, 2015 at 7:15 PM - PeterkSharma: What mount is needed for Greg wade extruder for bondtech?
Aug 24, 2015 at 7:15 PM - PeterkSharma: Standard or rep rap? Sorry I missed it earlier
Aug 24, 2015 at 7:17 PM - nonmindo: @jb earlier on that extruder setup we were talking about, you said 2 5:1 steppers, wouldn't I only need 1 5:1 stepper since we have one stepper for the wade, or does bowden req a diff ratio?
Aug 24, 2015 at 7:19 PM - jbigler1986: Gregs wade is a regular stepper. You need a 2 geared steppers
Aug 24, 2015 at 7:19 PM - jbigler1986: The gears on gregs wade is what gives it the gearing
Aug 24, 2015 at 7:20 PM - PeterkSharma: Jb I'm taking the mount you buy from the website
    Aug 24, 2015 at 7:23 PM - Mike Kelly:
Aug 24, 2015 at 7:25 PM - Mike Kelly: Peter if you want a drop in replacement for the gregs wade to bondtech. Contact Martin and bond tech and he'll finish the design he's been working on. I was helping him to make a drop in replacement
    Aug 24, 2015 at 7:26 PM - jbigler1986: what mount
Aug 24, 2015 at 7:26 PM - PeterkSharma: Martin at bondtech? Not idea who Martin is
Aug 24, 2015 at 7:27 PM - PeterkSharma: Jb go to bondtech and try and buy an extruder and you'll see the option
Aug 24, 2015 at 7:27 PM - Mike Kelly: Can anyone tell if it's printing right? Internet isn't good enough
Aug 24, 2015 at 7:28 PM - PeterkSharma: It is only showing a picture of your mug
Aug 24, 2015 at 7:28 PM - Mike Kelly: Right. Martin Bondeus of bondtech
Aug 24, 2015 at 7:31 PM - Mike Kelly: Man I hate this computer and its inability to run webcams properly
Aug 24, 2015 at 7:32 PM - donhuevo: dude, unplug and enjoy the effin show. FFS
Aug 24, 2015 at 7:33 PM - Mike Kelly: Guess I'm gonna kill the stream cause my computer doesn't want to see the cameras
    Aug 24, 2015 at 7:34 PM - Mike Kelly: I don't like Deftones
Aug 24, 2015 at 7:34 PM - Mike Kelly: Well I do a little but they are NOT good live
Aug 24, 2015 at 7:35 PM - donhuevo: I'm ignoring you until tomorrow so there

    Aug 24, 2015 at 7:49 PM - Bill Monroe: http://www.ustream.tv/channel/bills-lab
Aug 24, 2015 at 7:49 PM - Mike Glass: new filament so I upped the temp, just started the 2nd layer now.
Aug 24, 2015 at 7:50 PM - Mike Glass: its a bigger part like the one you had issues with
Aug 24, 2015 at 7:50 PM - Bill Monroe: I reprinted that one... no issues
Aug 24, 2015 at 7:50 PM - Mike Glass: wow that one you have now is huge
Aug 24, 2015 at 7:51 PM - Bill Monroe: ya, Harry said I could cut it but I was able to make it fit
Aug 24, 2015 at 7:52 PM - Mike Glass: guess I better get another part from him ready

Aug 24, 2015 at 8:24 PM - Bill Monroe: I'm still stunned I could walk into a brink-and-mortar store in San Diego and purchase ingots of virgin certified A356 aluminum
Aug 24, 2015 at 8:24 PM - Bill Monroe: brick
Aug 24, 2015 at 8:25 PM - nonmindo: that sounds nice

Aug 24, 2015 at 8:26 PM - Bill Monroe: well lots of places have 6061.. but A356?? no usually unless there's an active foundry in town
Aug 24, 2015 at 8:27 PM - Bill Monroe: and maybe not then since, they'll get it by the pallet
Aug 24, 2015 at 8:27 PM - nonmindo: ahh see 6061 I know, A356 not so much lol
Aug 24, 2015 at 8:27 PM - Bill Monroe: A356 is strictly for sand casting
Aug 24, 2015 at 8:28 PM - Bill Monroe: we have one foundry left here.. an art foundry only pouring bonze
Aug 24, 2015 at 8:28 PM - Bill Monroe: i'm afraid they'll stop carrying it so, I buy some whenever I go in there
Aug 24, 2015 at 8:29 PM - nonmindo: hey, why not....so is that like literally the purest alu you can get?
Aug 24, 2015 at 8:30 PM - Bill Monroe: not ncressariy the most pure.. it's one of the stronger alloys, it's heat-treatable and wedlable
Aug 24, 2015 at 8:30 PM - Bill Monroe: weldable
Aug 24, 2015 at 8:30 PM - nonmindo: ahh ok
Aug 24, 2015 at 8:30 PM - Bill Monroe: probably the most common alloy in general use
Aug 24, 2015 at 8:31 PM - nonmindo: hard to come by or you just like having ingots of metal around for porjects?
    Aug 24, 2015 at 8:32 PM - nonmindo: projects*
Aug 24, 2015 at 8:32 PM - Bill Monroe: my family owned a foundry from the 40s till 90s.. I grew up in that place

Aug 24, 2015 at 8:33 PM - nonmindo: ohh nice!
Aug 24, 2015 at 8:33 PM - nonmindo: I'm guessing you print things to make moulds out of then cast?
Aug 24, 2015 at 8:34 PM - Bill Monroe: not yet
    Aug 24, 2015 at 8:35 PM - Bill Monroe:
Aug 24, 2015 at 8:37 PM - nonmindo: gah....its so sad to see an atr like this dying and being replaced by giant foundries
    Aug 24, 2015 at 8:37 PM - nonmindo: art*
Aug 24, 2015 at 8:38 PM - Bill Monroe: eh.. we weret replaced.. we got legislated out by the tre--huggin, mosquito-kissin, sprout-eatin EPA, OSHA libtards

Aug 24, 2015 at 8:40 PM - Bill Monroe: naw.. actually CNC took a bigger chunk which is funny cuz it was never more economical... the manufacturing workd is realizing that just now...
Aug 24, 2015 at 8:41 PM - nonmindo: i love technology and all, but its a double edge sword lol
Aug 24, 2015 at 8:42 PM - Bill Monroe: indeed

Aug 25, 2015 4:29 AM - daniel871: Sent nonmindo this link for whenever he comes back (posting here so he doesn't get flooded by other people pointing out the same thing) http://www.filastruder.com/collections/e3d-spare-parts-and-accessories/products/e3d-pt100-sensor
Aug 25, 2015 4:31 AM - Bill Monroe: I told him to send a note to printedsolid.. I dont lik to deal with companies that wont tell you where they're located unless you buy something
Aug 25, 2015 4:33 AM - daniel871: The last few things I ordered from Filastruder came out of Lawrenceville, GA
Aug 25, 2015 4:33 AM - daniel871: According to the shipping tracking numbers anyway.
Aug 25, 2015 4:33 AM - daniel871: I could probably drive to their shop if I cared to burn the gas money.
Aug 25, 2015 4:33 AM - Bill Monroe: ya.. I asked them where they were.. they said it didnt matter
    Aug 25, 2015 4:33 AM - Bill Monroe: blacklisted
Aug 25, 2015 4:34 AM - Bill Monroe: too much competition in the amature maker world to be copping an attitude :)
Aug 25, 2015 4:34 AM - Bill Monroe: err amatuer
Aug 25, 2015 4:35 AM - Bill Monroe: printing anything?
Aug 25, 2015 4:36 AM - daniel871: Started the second part they sent me for CES in Pink ABS, but I'm going to have to re-print the first part in another material.
Aug 25, 2015 4:36 AM - daniel871: Some of the base layer stayed stuck to the PEI when it peeled up off the bed, so that ruins the part.
Aug 25, 2015 4:36 AM - Bill Monroe: hmmm i'm not tried pink yet
    Aug 25, 2015 4:37 AM - daniel871: Looks like Pepto Bismol.

    Aug 25, 2015 4:59 AM - jbigler1986: not to bad
Aug 25, 2015 5:00 AM - Bill Monroe: Amazon has already shipped my order..
Aug 25, 2015 5:00 AM - Bill Monroe: those guys are dominating
Aug 25, 2015 5:04 AM - jbigler1986: yeah they are pretty amazing to buy from
Aug 25, 2015 5:04 AM - Bill Monroe: I found a little more about how they're doing it
    Aug 25, 2015 5:05 AM - jbigler1986: to sell on they are a nightmare
Aug 25, 2015 5:07 AM - Bill Monroe: UPS doesnt pick up from them.. they have Amazon trucks using UPS trailers leaving their warehouses, delivering UPS compliant packages directly to a UPS main hub, already sorted for certain areas.
Aug 25, 2015 5:07 AM - Bill Monroe: all UPS does is haul them to the locales
    Aug 25, 2015 5:08 AM - jbigler1986: nice
Aug 25, 2015 5:08 AM - Bill Monroe: they got in bed with UPS, and everyone wins
Aug 25, 2015 5:08 AM - jbigler1986: they have shipping figured out for sure
Aug 25, 2015 5:09 AM - Bill Monroe: so, my heat shrink wire labels will be here today :)
Aug 25, 2015 5:11 AM - Bill Monroe: how's the work robo Justin?
Aug 25, 2015 5:11 AM - jbigler1986: good. heating up now to print a test part to see if its good for the warehouse
Aug 25, 2015 5:12 AM - jbigler1986: both y clips were broke upon arrival. no surprise there

Aug 25, 2015 5:28 AM - jbigler1986: They had to of broke at the same time
Aug 25, 2015 5:28 AM - Bill Monroe: looked like the picture was degraded compared to ustream
Aug 25, 2015 5:29 AM - JeffTheMess: shit I didn't want to take it out
Aug 25, 2015 5:29 AM - jbigler1986: quality isn't as good but it's still better than most streams
    Aug 25, 2015 5:29 AM - jbigler1986: you just have to remove 2 screws
Aug 25, 2015 5:31 AM - JeffTheMess: well four, but yeah I'll be doing that tonight i printed t last night
Aug 25, 2015 5:31 AM - jbigler1986: oh yeah. gotta remove the 2 from the carriage itself
Aug 25, 2015 5:32 AM - JeffTheMess: Hey Bill, how you like the youtube live?
Aug 25, 2015 5:35 AM - Bill Monroe: dunno seems ok, i just started it 20 minutes ago
Aug 25, 2015 5:37 AM - Bill Monroe: not a big fan of google
Aug 25, 2015 5:41 AM - daniel871: Depends on whether they're using the stock carriage or not, JB. Someone else was talking about using the v2 carriage MK came up with.
Aug 25, 2015 5:41 AM - daniel871: That one lets you do the dual fans without removing the hotend.
    Aug 25, 2015 5:42 AM - daniel871: (it's just a little tricky getting the screws/screwdriver lined up)
    Aug 25, 2015 5:42 AM - daniel871: (if it's mounted on the X-axis rods)
Aug 25, 2015 5:43 AM - daniel871: Love that carriage by the way.
Aug 25, 2015 6:06 AM - Bill Monroe: Jeff, it looks like Youtube handles promoting in facebook quite well, clicking on the link opens the video in-content right away with no commericals.
    Aug 25, 2015 6:07 AM - JeffTheMess: nice
    Aug 25, 2015 6:08 AM - JeffTheMess: (if I had a fb :))
Aug 25, 2015 6:08 AM - JeffTheMess: it would be useful for all the 3dhubbers
Aug 25, 2015 6:10 AM - Bill Monroe: bah.. 3D hub is like asking your korean neighbor witha BBQ to cater your wedding
    Aug 25, 2015 6:12 AM - JeffTheMess: lol
    Aug 25, 2015 6:12 AM - daniel871: As if that wouldn't be a fun wedding.
Aug 25, 2015 6:12 AM - JeffTheMess: im too greedy with my printer to print for others
    Aug 25, 2015 6:13 AM - Bill Monroe: <hi5>
Aug 25, 2015 6:13 AM - Bill Monroe: couple of guys here were using the company machine to sell prints
    Aug 25, 2015 6:13 AM - daniel871: LOL
    Aug 25, 2015 6:13 AM - Bill Monroe: seriously!
    Aug 25, 2015 6:13 AM - daniel871: Did they get fired?
Aug 25, 2015 6:13 AM - Bill Monroe: the actually didnt get why it was wrong
Aug 25, 2015 6:14 AM - Bill Monroe: we dont fire people in California.. we merely ask them to find success elsewhere.. immediately.
Aug 25, 2015 6:14 AM - daniel871: That would be like me using the company CNC machine to make things over the weekends out of UHMW stock.
Aug 25, 2015 6:14 AM - daniel871: And not paying for the materials or maintenance.
Aug 25, 2015 6:15 AM - daniel871: Or tooling for the wear and tear on the bits.
Aug 25, 2015 6:16 AM - daniel871: Was it at least an industrial printer and not like JB's company playing with a Robo?
    Aug 25, 2015 6:16 AM - JeffTheMess: a tiko maybe? lol
Aug 25, 2015 6:16 AM - Bill Monroe: ya.. one was using out Stratasys, the other was using the Objet
    Aug 25, 2015 6:17 AM - JeffTheMess: wow
Aug 25, 2015 6:17 AM - Bill Monroe: from what I hear, the giveaway was they were using the objet to make ironman masks
Aug 25, 2015 6:18 AM - Bill Monroe: and not being discreet about it
Aug 25, 2015 6:19 AM - jbigler1986: well the parts i'm making are for the warehouse. nothing special
Aug 25, 2015 6:20 AM - Bill Monroe: normally I use mine for prototype parts but lately its been robbie stuff
Aug 25, 2015 6:20 AM - JeffTheMess: how many parts you planning on printing Bill
Aug 25, 2015 6:21 AM - Bill Monroe: hadnt really made a plan... Harry's been throwing the hard stuff at me so there's been some challenges.. great learning moments
Aug 25, 2015 6:22 AM - Bill Monroe: i tossed a few surprises in for him too
Aug 25, 2015 6:23 AM - JeffTheMess: 70% of the robbie gonna be bills lol
Aug 25, 2015 6:23 AM - Bill Monroe: I created a cavity inside one of them and tossed some old plumbing parts in...
    Aug 25, 2015 6:23 AM - JeffTheMess: lol
Aug 25, 2015 6:24 AM - Bill Monroe: Threw some BBs in another
    Aug 25, 2015 6:24 AM - jbigler1986: are they paying for shipping?
    Aug 25, 2015 6:24 AM - Bill Monroe: naw
Aug 25, 2015 6:25 AM - jbigler1986: free parts and don't have to pay for shipping. that's bull
Aug 25, 2015 6:25 AM - Bill Monroe: I offered to drop them off since I'm just a couple of miles away but he declined
    Aug 25, 2015 6:25 AM - jbigler1986: this is all a trick
    Aug 25, 2015 6:25 AM - jbigler1986: wtf. why did he decline
Aug 25, 2015 6:25 AM - Bill Monroe: I think he just didnt want to clean up his office :)
Aug 25, 2015 6:26 AM - Bill Monroe: I dunno.. maybe the address is really a UPS store dropbox and he lives with his mother?
Aug 25, 2015 6:26 AM - jbigler1986: didn't want someone here to see what kind of operation they are running there
    Aug 25, 2015 6:26 AM - JeffTheMess: wow
Aug 25, 2015 6:27 AM - Bill Monroe: He said I could come in for a photo when it's done
Aug 25, 2015 6:27 AM - Bill Monroe: he actually seems like a cool guy.. and I've enjoyed the challenges
    Aug 25, 2015 6:27 AM - JeffTheMess: well thats a perk
    Aug 25, 2015 6:28 AM - jbigler1986: Harry?
Aug 25, 2015 6:28 AM - Bill Monroe: 20 hours prints with amazing quality... i'm pleased
    Aug 25, 2015 6:28 AM - Bill Monroe: <-- ohya, called it
Aug 25, 2015 6:29 AM - JeffTheMess: Cali aint cheap
    Aug 25, 2015 6:30 AM - jbigler1986: isn't he an entrepreneur though?
    Aug 25, 2015 6:31 AM - jbigler1986: The official Twitter of Harrison K. Valner. Entrepreneur | CEO | TC3 | ROBO 3D
    Aug 25, 2015 6:33 AM - Mike Kelly: Morning
Aug 25, 2015 6:36 AM - JeffTheMess: by definition he kind of is lol
Aug 25, 2015 6:37 AM - jbigler1986: makes me laugh. I like how they send him here instead of a meaningful person from Robo coming here
Aug 25, 2015 6:39 AM - Bill Monroe: maybe he's the only one that wants to do it?
Aug 25, 2015 6:40 AM - Mike Kelly: He's definitely the only one that wants to :)
Aug 25, 2015 6:41 AM - JeffTheMess: whatever happened to Braydon coming on here "weekly"?
    Aug 25, 2015 6:41 AM - Bill Monroe: then he's a valuable resource
Aug 25, 2015 6:43 AM - jbigler1986: He hasn't been on here for a weekly visit to discuss things in like 2 months
    Aug 25, 2015 6:44 AM - JeffTheMess: exactly
Aug 25, 2015 6:44 AM - jbigler1986: what % do you guys give them on producing the R2 next year?
    Aug 25, 2015 6:45 AM - jbigler1986: I will go 30%
Aug 25, 2015 6:48 AM - JeffTheMess: with all the troubleshooting done on the forum they have plenty to work on for the r2
Aug 25, 2015 6:49 AM - jbigler1986: yeah we do a lot of troubleshooting for them. We are a FREE support team for them basically
    Aug 25, 2015 6:49 AM - JeffTheMess: ^
Aug 25, 2015 6:51 AM - jbigler1986: yet they don't seem to give 2 shits about it. hell they are trying to make the forum less about troubleshooting
    Aug 25, 2015 6:54 AM - JeffTheMess: 99.99% is troubleshooting and upgrades
Aug 25, 2015 6:56 AM - mark tomlinson: Nah. Can't recall the last troubleshooting question. I am old though so...
    Aug 25, 2015 6:58 AM - jbigler1986: haha
Aug 25, 2015 7:05 AM - Bill Monroe: well sheesh.. everytime he came here all he got was whining and complaining... you wouldnt come back either :)
    Aug 25, 2015 7:05 AM - jbigler1986: Braydon?
    Aug 25, 2015 7:06 AM - Bill Monroe: yup
Aug 25, 2015 7:06 AM - JeffTheMess: Well, expect it if we want robo to go beyond successful
Aug 25, 2015 7:07 AM - Bill Monroe: hmm so what's beyond success?
Aug 25, 2015 7:07 AM - jbigler1986: He is the Owner of the company. He should be thick skinned
    Aug 25, 2015 7:07 AM - JeffTheMess: the R2?
Aug 25, 2015 7:08 AM - Bill Monroe: remember now, this is a kickstart company.. not Apple
    Aug 25, 2015 7:09 AM - jbigler1986: Apple hardware is awesome
Aug 25, 2015 7:09 AM - JeffTheMess: (Thank goodness for that)
    Aug 25, 2015 7:09 AM - jbigler1986: software I hate
Aug 25, 2015 7:10 AM - Bill Monroe: although, it was years before Apple got traction

Aug 25, 2015 7:10 AM - Mike Kelly: did you hear about that woman that gave away an original apple 1
    Aug 25, 2015 7:10 AM - JeffTheMess:
Aug 25, 2015 7:11 AM - Mike Kelly: her husband died so she donated all his old electronics to like goodwill
Aug 25, 2015 7:11 AM - Mike Kelly: they found it in there but had no record of who donated it
    Aug 25, 2015 7:11 AM - JeffTheMess: wow
    Aug 25, 2015 7:11 AM - Bill Monroe: yet, they know it's a woman who's husband died
Aug 25, 2015 7:11 AM - Mike Kelly: so they put out a call to find her, i hope they did, that thing was worth 200k
Aug 25, 2015 7:12 AM - Mike Kelly: the guy said he knew he'd recognize her
Aug 25, 2015 7:12 AM - JeffTheMess: how old is she?
Aug 25, 2015 7:12 AM - Bill Monroe: too suspicious
Aug 25, 2015 7:12 AM - Bill Monroe: sounds like another goodwill scan to jackup interest and get more money when it's auctioned
    Aug 25, 2015 7:13 AM - Mike Kelly: http://www.cnbc.com/2015/06/01/woman-gives-rare-apple-1-computer-worth-200k-to-recycling.html
Aug 25, 2015 7:13 AM - Mike Kelly: maybe but they don't say who the recycling company is :)
Aug 25, 2015 7:13 AM - jbigler1986: they were going to give here half of the money
Aug 25, 2015 7:15 AM - Mike Kelly: i hope they found her
Aug 25, 2015 7:16 AM - daniel871: We were totally going to give her half of the money, we swear. Oh well, we'll use it to pay all of our store employees for the next decade at the pittance we pay them because we get to skirt minimum wage laws because we make a show of employing token mentally handicapped people.
Aug 25, 2015 7:16 AM - Mike Kelly: i dunno they could have said nothing and sold it soooo
Aug 25, 2015 7:17 AM - Mike Kelly: though i tend to give people the benefit of the doubt
Aug 25, 2015 7:17 AM - Bill Monroe: they get a lot more when they hype it..
Aug 25, 2015 7:17 AM - daniel871: It sells for more money if they draw more attention to it.
Aug 25, 2015 7:17 AM - Bill Monroe: goodwill has been tagged by the IRS. this kind of thing is one reason
Aug 25, 2015 7:17 AM - Bill Monroe: they've been known to purchase stuff, hype it, then auction it to deep pockets
Aug 25, 2015 7:18 AM - Mike Kelly: well i hope this wasn't goodwill then
Aug 25, 2015 7:19 AM - daniel871: Nah, Goodwill doesn't pay that much attention to what goes through their stores.
    Aug 25, 2015 7:20 AM - daniel871: Their auction site is a different story.
Aug 25, 2015 7:20 AM - Mike Kelly: sounds like she was taking it to be recycled since she thought it was junk
Aug 25, 2015 7:20 AM - Mike Kelly: i dunno i'm sure goodwill does as much good as some other organizations that don't get taxed
Aug 25, 2015 7:21 AM - daniel871: Depends on whether you think the executives getting $750k in compensation is doing good or not when the people they employ make less than $.50/hour.
Aug 25, 2015 7:22 AM - jbigler1986: A lot of the employees are there for community service
Aug 25, 2015 7:22 AM - daniel871: There was a big controversy about it back in 2013, but people lost interest in it because nobody cares about the mentally handicapped and/or criminals.
Aug 25, 2015 7:23 AM - Mike Kelly: not saying they're good, but there's plenty of places that don't even pay property tax and claim "mission" is charitable works
Aug 25, 2015 7:23 AM - daniel871: Yeah, and every single one of those need to lose that tax shelter status.
Aug 25, 2015 7:23 AM - Mike Kelly: not gonna happen
Aug 25, 2015 7:24 AM - daniel871: Depends on how big the Church of Satan gets and how much they ditch in taxes. Then the "cutting off your nose to spite your face" effect will happen.
    Aug 25, 2015 7:24 AM - Mike Kelly: they're already tax exempt
Aug 25, 2015 7:25 AM - daniel871: And other churches aren't at all happy about it.
Aug 25, 2015 7:25 AM - Mike Kelly: freedom of relgion, wait you meant other religions too?!
    Aug 25, 2015 7:25 AM - daniel871: Pretty much.
Aug 25, 2015 7:26 AM - daniel871: Who am I kidding, the more likely event is the push for a State Religion finally goes through.
Aug 25, 2015 7:28 AM - Mike Kelly: "I'm so sick of defending the minorities!" - the news media
Aug 25, 2015 7:29 AM - daniel871: "People start tuning out if we point out things that matter, better get back on stories about celebrity rehab and genital flashing!"
Aug 25, 2015 7:31 AM - daniel871: Whatever happened to the bronze Baphomet statue they were supposedly going to get put up in Detroit?
    Aug 25, 2015 7:31 AM - JeffTheMess: wait what i tuned out
Aug 25, 2015 7:31 AM - daniel871: Did the local Robocop enthusiasts tear it down?
Aug 25, 2015 7:36 AM - Mike Kelly: i wish the one in OK city went up
Aug 25, 2015 7:36 AM - Mike Kelly: woulda been hilarious
Aug 25, 2015 7:38 AM - daniel871: Baphomet next to the Ten Commandments? Yep.
Aug 25, 2015 7:39 AM - jbigler1986: I have been so scatter brained yesterday and today. Probably will all week. ugh
Aug 25, 2015 7:40 AM - Mike Kelly: lot on your mind i'm sure
    Aug 25, 2015 7:41 AM - jbigler1986: I can't focus at all
Aug 25, 2015 7:41 AM - jbigler1986: should just take vaca the rest of the week
Aug 25, 2015 7:44 AM - Blake Benefield: Got the robo fixed this morning before i left
Aug 25, 2015 7:44 AM - Blake Benefield: test print tonight
    Aug 25, 2015 7:44 AM - JeffTheMess: nice
    Aug 25, 2015 7:44 AM - jbigler1986: robo?
Aug 25, 2015 7:44 AM - Blake Benefield: work ordered one
Aug 25, 2015 7:45 AM - jbigler1986: ahhh. What was wrong with it
Aug 25, 2015 7:45 AM - Blake Benefield: i thought it would come in wednesday, came in yesterday
Aug 25, 2015 7:45 AM - Blake Benefield: busted belt clip (Y) and end stop (Z)
    Aug 25, 2015 7:45 AM - daniel871: How does the Z endstop get busted?
    Aug 25, 2015 7:46 AM - JeffTheMess: another y clip busted, ( I should print 2)
Aug 25, 2015 7:47 AM - daniel871: I like the idea of aluminum Y-clips, but how would you make them?
    Aug 25, 2015 7:47 AM - JeffTheMess: cnc?
    Aug 25, 2015 7:47 AM - Mike Kelly: cnc
    Aug 25, 2015 7:47 AM - jbigler1986: cnc
Aug 25, 2015 7:48 AM - daniel871: They make end mills that small that can stand up to machining a slot that deep without f-ing up?
    Aug 25, 2015 7:48 AM - daniel871: For the actual belt area.
    Aug 25, 2015 7:48 AM - Mike Kelly: absolutely
Aug 25, 2015 7:48 AM - Mike Kelly: just gotta go slow
Aug 25, 2015 7:49 AM - JeffTheMess: (Mike K should make some for sale)
    Aug 25, 2015 7:49 AM - jbigler1986: That what the virgin said
Aug 25, 2015 7:49 AM - Mike Kelly: talk to MG, he's actually got a working CNC
Aug 25, 2015 7:50 AM - JeffTheMess: you think his can do it?
Aug 25, 2015 7:51 AM - daniel871: He'd make a small amount of money filling orders for aluminum y-belt clips for someone like PrintedSolid.
    Aug 25, 2015 7:52 AM - Mike Kelly: i don't see why his couldn't
Aug 25, 2015 7:53 AM - JeffTheMess: had to super glue mine together dont have a second printer :(
Aug 25, 2015 7:54 AM - Mike Kelly: i'd just use zip ties personally
Aug 25, 2015 7:55 AM - Mike Kelly: but my 3d printed brackets have lasted over a year no problems
Aug 25, 2015 7:56 AM - Blake Benefield: I just printed it since i had the hictop
Aug 25, 2015 7:56 AM - Blake Benefield: worked well, now the robo has purple clips (only color PLA i have atm)
    Aug 25, 2015 7:57 AM - JeffTheMess: nice
    Aug 25, 2015 7:59 AM - jbigler1986: i glued mine as well
Aug 25, 2015 7:59 AM - Blake Benefield: the z end stop looked like it was loose and sort of pushed over and cracked.
Aug 25, 2015 7:59 AM - Blake Benefield: uses the same style end stops that the hictop came with though so i just soldered a new one on
Aug 25, 2015 8:00 AM - Blake Benefield: HIC came with an extra
Aug 25, 2015 8:01 AM - JeffTheMess: when is the robo mini coming out?
Aug 25, 2015 8:01 AM - Blake Benefield: or the robo delta.
Aug 25, 2015 8:02 AM - Blake Benefield: I like the way the bed is insulated on the robo. not sure i like how its mounted on the rails etc. that's weird, but i like the cork.
Aug 25, 2015 8:03 AM - jbigler1986: it actually is pretty horrible if you look at the heated bed thread
Aug 25, 2015 8:04 AM - daniel871: I ended up covering that cork with more HVAC tape because it tries to sag and drop off, Blake.
    Aug 25, 2015 8:04 AM - WheresWaldo: Morning everyone.
Aug 25, 2015 8:04 AM - Blake Benefield: I saw that JB, but i like the insulation. The HIC has trouble getting above 85. I think if I insulated it that it might do better.
Aug 25, 2015 8:04 AM - daniel871: I have no idea if that improved the bed performance at all though, because I don't have an IR camera.
    Aug 25, 2015 8:05 AM - Mike Glass: Morning
    Aug 25, 2015 8:05 AM - daniel871: Probably made things worse. :p
Aug 25, 2015 8:05 AM - WheresWaldo: Dan did the extra tape stop the sagging?
    Aug 25, 2015 8:05 AM - daniel871: So far.
Aug 25, 2015 8:05 AM - WheresWaldo: I may do the same thing then.
Aug 25, 2015 8:06 AM - JeffTheMess: hey MG, you think tyou can make an cnc'd y axis clip?
Aug 25, 2015 8:06 AM - Mike Kelly: mornin mg
