    Aug 18, 2015 7:17 PM - PeterkSharma: oh shit....
    Aug 18, 2015 7:18 PM - jbigler1986: Yep. Its a mess right now.
Aug 18, 2015 7:18 PM - PeterkSharma: tell her you need it to print a new wife
    Aug 18, 2015 7:18 PM - Mike Glass: lol
Aug 18, 2015 7:18 PM - Mike Glass: she may have printed new man parts with it.
Aug 18, 2015 7:19 PM - Mike Kelly: mg your microadjust design just uses http://www.thingiverse.com/thing:902483 right?
    Aug 18, 2015 7:19 PM - jbigler1986: [IMG]
Aug 18, 2015 7:19 PM - jbigler1986: Thats what i just got setup before madness happened.
Aug 18, 2015 7:20 PM - Mike Glass: Mike he custom made me feet that have the 5/16 hole. I was gonna ask if he can post them or if I can post with my adjusters
Aug 18, 2015 7:20 PM - Mike Glass: let me ping him right now
Aug 18, 2015 7:20 PM - Mike Kelly: i'm about to print some feet
Aug 18, 2015 7:21 PM - nonmindo: ooooh man @jbigler, that looks like how i had it envisioned in my head for dual extrusion.... using cyclopse?
Aug 18, 2015 7:23 PM - PeterkSharma: mk how do you like the bowden>
Aug 18, 2015 7:23 PM - Mike Glass: you need 8 total, so print the 4 and I will get you the file for the other 4.
    Aug 18, 2015 7:23 PM - jbigler1986: Nope. Dual E3D V6
    Aug 18, 2015 7:23 PM - Mike Kelly: which 4 should i print
Aug 18, 2015 7:23 PM - Mike Glass: the non IE.
Aug 18, 2015 7:24 PM - Mike Kelly: flex foot?
Aug 18, 2015 7:24 PM - Mike Glass: ahah nevermind he did post them
    Aug 18, 2015 7:25 PM - Mike Glass: 4 top and 4 bottom
Aug 18, 2015 7:25 PM - Mike Glass: check and see the bottom should have a 5/16 hole in it
Aug 18, 2015 7:26 PM - Mike Kelly: the flex foot has a hole in the bottom, not sure on size
Aug 18, 2015 7:27 PM - Mike Glass: nope he didnt its all the way through, just print the top 4 for now
    Aug 18, 2015 7:27 PM - Mike Kelly: flex?
    Aug 18, 2015 7:28 PM - jbigler1986: Gotta be pribted in semiflex
Aug 18, 2015 7:28 PM - Mike Glass: I asked him to post the others
    Aug 18, 2015 7:28 PM - Mike Glass: yes the flex_foot
Aug 18, 2015 7:28 PM - Mike Kelly: ok so that one's good to print?
Aug 18, 2015 7:28 PM - Mike Kelly: all your changes are on the bottom foot?
Aug 18, 2015 7:28 PM - nonmindo: @jbigler, how much trouble was it to get the extra extruder and hot end setup, im guessing plug things in to respective available plugs on RAMPS and make some firmware edits?
    Aug 18, 2015 7:29 PM - Mike Glass: correct
Aug 18, 2015 7:29 PM - Mike Kelly: ok thanks
Aug 18, 2015 7:29 PM - Mike Glass: Ok he said I can post them with the adjusters
Aug 18, 2015 7:30 PM - jbigler1986: It wasnt to bad. You need to add a fan extender to the ramps board too
Aug 18, 2015 7:30 PM - PeterkSharma: Will the Robo support the kraken?
    Aug 18, 2015 7:30 PM - Mike Kelly: nope
Aug 18, 2015 7:30 PM - Mike Kelly: not without new electronics
Aug 18, 2015 7:30 PM - PeterkSharma: not enough ports correct?
Aug 18, 2015 7:30 PM - Mike Kelly: but yeah you could make it work
Aug 18, 2015 7:30 PM - Mike Kelly: the ramps only allows for 2 extruders
Aug 18, 2015 7:30 PM - jbigler1986: I just wired a switch to the parts fan just to test things out
Aug 18, 2015 7:31 PM - nonmindo: I was thinking about upgrading to the "smoothieboard 5x" anyone know if anybody has done that on a robo yet?
Aug 18, 2015 7:31 PM - PeterkSharma: did i hear earlier that no one has currently gotten the cyclops to work?
    Aug 18, 2015 7:31 PM - Mike Kelly: i've used it
Aug 18, 2015 7:31 PM - Mike Kelly: i'm running the chimera right now
Aug 18, 2015 7:32 PM - nonmindo: @mkelly, how well does the cyclops work.... and how does it work, does it just feed the pla into like a Y shape in the block, and use retraction to pull out the color not being used
Aug 18, 2015 7:32 PM - Mike Glass: I said there was only one person that had it running.
    Aug 18, 2015 7:32 PM - jbigler1986: On the tiko. Printing at 15mm/s
Aug 18, 2015 7:33 PM - Mike Glass: that is fast jb
Aug 18, 2015 7:33 PM - Mike Kelly: no the cyclops works in a pretty unique way
Aug 18, 2015 7:33 PM - jbigler1986: Thats what MK is using it on
Aug 18, 2015 7:33 PM - Mike Kelly: the filament enters in the melt zone then takes a 90 degree bend towards the center
Aug 18, 2015 7:33 PM - Mike Kelly: in the center there's a channel to the nozzle
Aug 18, 2015 7:33 PM - PeterkSharma: anyone seen and reviews on it
Aug 18, 2015 7:34 PM - Mike Kelly: you need filament in both channels for it to work
Aug 18, 2015 7:34 PM - jbigler1986: He had it printing at 19mm/s yesterday. Then it started to fall apart
Aug 18, 2015 7:34 PM - Mike Glass: it vibrated off the desk
Aug 18, 2015 7:34 PM - Mike Kelly: because if you only did it in one channel molten filament would keep flowing out of the other channel until it hardened and makes it hard to remove the jam
    Aug 18, 2015 7:34 PM - jbigler1986: Lol. Almost. He grabbed it.
Aug 18, 2015 7:34 PM - Mike Kelly: so you have filament basically holding the position of the molten channel
Aug 18, 2015 7:34 PM - nonmindo: that is pretty unique, one would think there would be some bleeding of one color into the next
Aug 18, 2015 7:35 PM - Mike Kelly: there *might* be in certain material blends
Aug 18, 2015 7:35 PM - Mike Glass: wipe towers are your friend
Aug 18, 2015 7:35 PM - nonmindo: I havent learned about wipe towers yet lol....still wrapping my head around brim/skirt/raft
Aug 18, 2015 7:35 PM - jbigler1986: You think MK would let the tiko hit the ground? No way jose
Aug 18, 2015 7:35 PM - Mike Kelly: so the prevailing theory right now is that as the filament makes the final bend towards the nozzle some of the filament does push into the secondary channel
Aug 18, 2015 7:36 PM - Mike Kelly: this creates like a "bubble" that acts as a seal to prevent color blending
Aug 18, 2015 7:36 PM - jbigler1986: Well make sure you try single bowden first. Its a whole different ball game
Aug 18, 2015 7:36 PM - Mike Kelly: but in order to switch filaments you need to purge all the filament out the nozzle channel to transition the colors
Aug 18, 2015 7:36 PM - Mike Glass: would be cool to see if you could mix two colors at the same time?
Aug 18, 2015 7:36 PM - nonmindo: thats pretty neat.......I wonder if I should go that route or just wait for the spectrom addon(im guessing thats gonna be like $300-400 though)
Aug 18, 2015 7:37 PM - Mike Kelly: using a wipe and prime tower is how you do that purging
Aug 18, 2015 7:37 PM - Mike Glass: try more than that
Aug 18, 2015 7:37 PM - Mike Kelly: spectrom is crap IMO
Aug 18, 2015 7:37 PM - jbigler1986: Well you love the tiko. Soooooooo
    Aug 18, 2015 7:37 PM - Mike Kelly: haha
Aug 18, 2015 7:37 PM - nonmindo: really more?? They said "consumer friendly pricing" (then again..... $1,200 printers are "consumer friendly pricing")
Aug 18, 2015 7:37 PM - Mike Glass: the new tiko is 64 colors
    Aug 18, 2015 7:37 PM - jbigler1986: Lmao
    Aug 18, 2015 7:38 PM - nonmindo: wait
    Aug 18, 2015 7:38 PM - jbigler1986: I think the thing is like $800
Aug 18, 2015 7:38 PM - nonmindo: they havent even gotten the main tiko out of pre-order yet
Aug 18, 2015 7:38 PM - Mike Glass: and they never will
Aug 18, 2015 7:38 PM - Mike Kelly: i'm still curious if that things gonna ship at all
Aug 18, 2015 7:38 PM - nonmindo: are they going to all be 64 color, or are they going to do like a tandem release
Aug 18, 2015 7:38 PM - jbigler1986: MK is friends with the creater
    Aug 18, 2015 7:39 PM - Mike Kelly: he's pulling your chain
    Aug 18, 2015 7:39 PM - jbigler1986: We are just kidding
    Aug 18, 2015 7:39 PM - nonmindo: gah!!!
    Aug 18, 2015 7:39 PM - nonmindo: lol
    Aug 18, 2015 7:39 PM - nonmindo: #troll'd
    Aug 18, 2015 7:39 PM - jbigler1986: MK hates the tiko
    Aug 18, 2015 7:39 PM - nonmindo: I /ALMOST/ bought one
Aug 18, 2015 7:39 PM - Mike Glass: jb was going to fund it but MK said he would ban him, so he makes fun of it.
Aug 18, 2015 7:39 PM - Mike Kelly: hates a strong word. more like "hope the worst for them"
Aug 18, 2015 7:39 PM - nonmindo: but then i saw the print speed and was like......NOPE
Aug 18, 2015 7:40 PM - jbigler1986: You can send me the $180 instead. You will still receive the same product
    Aug 18, 2015 7:40 PM - jbigler1986: Which will be nothing
    Aug 18, 2015 7:40 PM - nonmindo: soooooo.... nothing?
    Aug 18, 2015 7:40 PM - nonmindo: lol

Aug 18, 2015 7:40 PM - PeterkSharma: whats the deal with it? it just suck or not work or somrhing?
    Aug 18, 2015 7:41 PM - Mike Glass: its a joke of a toy
    Aug 18, 2015 7:41 PM - PeterkSharma: lol
Aug 18, 2015 7:41 PM - PeterkSharma: just googled ot
    Aug 18, 2015 7:41 PM - PeterkSharma: i'm caught up
Aug 18, 2015 7:41 PM - jbigler1986: Print speed is slow as hell. Print quality sucks
Aug 18, 2015 7:41 PM - nonmindo: my buddy bought an M3D......he had 2 parts break on first day during calibration, then took forever to get reply from support, then they had him send in his unit and they sent him a brand new one...... after that i tried to stay away from printers that are either currently in croud funding stage or JUST out of it
Aug 18, 2015 7:42 PM - PeterkSharma: i might try our the peachy
    Aug 18, 2015 7:42 PM - Mike Glass: haha
    Aug 18, 2015 7:42 PM - jbigler1986: I thought the m3d looked good
Aug 18, 2015 7:42 PM - nonmindo: its tiny, build nicely (finish wise), but slow
Aug 18, 2015 7:43 PM - nonmindo: took him like 20 hrs to print a "good luck" cat on .5
Aug 18, 2015 7:43 PM - jbigler1986: Yeah i didnt expect it ro be fast
Aug 18, 2015 7:43 PM - Mike Glass: should of been called "turdy"
    Aug 18, 2015 7:43 PM - nonmindo: 1"x1" in size
    Aug 18, 2015 7:43 PM - jbigler1986: Wait. 1x1 took 20 hours?
Aug 18, 2015 7:43 PM - nonmindo: lemme confirm the dimensions and settings, sec
    Aug 18, 2015 7:44 PM - jbigler1986: No way. That would be like 5mm/s
Aug 18, 2015 7:44 PM - Mike Glass: the lower the cost the lower the speed of the final product
Aug 18, 2015 7:44 PM - nonmindo: he might be driving to work
    Aug 18, 2015 7:44 PM - PeterkSharma: anyone used a delta printer?
Aug 18, 2015 7:45 PM - nonmindo: I might be off on the size of the print, but i know that it was higher res and took 20hrs
Aug 18, 2015 7:45 PM - Mike Glass: delta's are nice and speedy
Aug 18, 2015 7:46 PM - nonmindo: 2x2.5x3 approx. Makeni Neko happy cat. 50 micron
Aug 18, 2015 7:46 PM - PeterkSharma: MG any better than other delta brands
    Aug 18, 2015 7:46 PM - jbigler1986: Print speed says 60mm/s
Aug 18, 2015 7:47 PM - nonmindo: its MUCH slower than that
Aug 18, 2015 7:47 PM - Mike Glass: there is a guy that makes a killer delta
Aug 18, 2015 7:47 PM - nonmindo: at least for the print he did
    Aug 18, 2015 7:47 PM - jbigler1986: Is it an alpha model?
Aug 18, 2015 7:47 PM - Mike Glass: cant remember his name though, MK would know
    Aug 18, 2015 7:48 PM - jbigler1986: https://printm3d.com/forums/discussion/1117/slow-printing-is-this-normal-for-the-micro
Aug 18, 2015 7:48 PM - nonmindo: the M3D? nah, it was a refurb KS unit, now he has a brand new RTM unit
Aug 18, 2015 7:48 PM - PeterkSharma: MK, who makes the killer delta printer
Aug 18, 2015 7:48 PM - Mike Glass: I think he is poop napping
    Aug 18, 2015 7:49 PM - jbigler1986: Haha
Aug 18, 2015 7:50 PM - PeterkSharma: what abou resin printers under 1k
Aug 18, 2015 7:50 PM - Mike Glass: peachy is?
Aug 18, 2015 7:50 PM - PeterkSharma: yeah, but who knows how long until it makes it to markey
Aug 18, 2015 7:52 PM - nonmindo: the peachy seems cool for a resin printer....but its $60/liter for the resin
Aug 18, 2015 7:54 PM - PeterkSharma: yeah, I'm between that and using a dual extruder so I can add HIPS
Aug 18, 2015 7:55 PM - PeterkSharma: whats the differene in Rep Rap and so on?
Aug 18, 2015 7:55 PM - nonmindo: thats why i want dual extrusion more than anything....for HIPS and for Conductive filament
Aug 18, 2015 8:01 PM - PeterkSharma: I'm having a problem with my z step height. I dont think its correct. is that a firmware or gcode
Aug 18, 2015 8:03 PM - nonmindo: i'd check firmware.... configuration.h i think the default value should be 2560, but i could be wrong (i'm noob)
Aug 18, 2015 8:13 PM - Mike Kelly: what makes you think it's your z steps
Aug 18, 2015 8:28 PM - PeterkSharma: about 1/2 thorugh the print the extruder tip will almost alway mess up the print
Aug 18, 2015 8:29 PM - PeterkSharma: MK whats the name of the sweet delta printer?
    Aug 18, 2015 8:43 PM - Mike Kelly: the rostock max v2?
Aug 18, 2015 8:44 PM - PeterkSharma: MG said to ask you
Aug 18, 2015 8:44 PM - PeterkSharma: said you knew a good one
Aug 18, 2015 8:44 PM - Mike Glass: not the rostock
Aug 18, 2015 8:44 PM - Mike Glass: they guy on youtube
Aug 18, 2015 8:45 PM - Mike Glass: MK I posted the feet on thingiverse
Aug 18, 2015 8:45 PM - Mike Kelly: oh that guy hmm
Aug 18, 2015 8:46 PM - Mike Kelly: MG... did you tell me to print the wrong one
Aug 18, 2015 8:46 PM - Mike Glass: no why
Aug 18, 2015 8:46 PM - Mike Kelly: you just uploaded the flex foot
    Aug 18, 2015 8:46 PM - Mike Glass: yes but its flex_footMG
    Aug 18, 2015 8:47 PM - Mike Glass: has a 5/16 hole
Aug 18, 2015 8:47 PM - Mike Kelly: but you told me to print the flex foot...
    Aug 18, 2015 8:48 PM - Mike Kelly: w/e i'm just gonna drill these
Aug 18, 2015 8:48 PM - Mike Kelly: don't feel like starting the print over
Aug 18, 2015 8:48 PM - Blake Benefield: his brain works clear MK... but only in his head
Aug 18, 2015 8:48 PM - Mike Glass: you need 8 total anyways
Aug 18, 2015 8:49 PM - Mike Glass: or are you doing 8 now?
Aug 18, 2015 8:49 PM - Mike Kelly: i was gonna use the screw down bottom and do them in different colors
Aug 18, 2015 8:49 PM - Mike Kelly: i also made a design flaw on the tool holder
Aug 18, 2015 8:50 PM - Mike Glass: yea the tops ones it doesnt matter you glue thos on anyways
Aug 18, 2015 8:50 PM - Mike Kelly: i was wondering what secured those together
Aug 18, 2015 8:50 PM - Mike Glass: yea he said just use super glue, they are rock solid
    Aug 18, 2015 8:51 PM - Mike Kelly: i'll use acetone probs
Aug 18, 2015 8:51 PM - Mike Glass: I wet sanded them first on the rough side.
Aug 18, 2015 8:51 PM - Mike Glass: yes for abs should work good.
Aug 18, 2015 8:52 PM - Mike Kelly: i'm a little confused by how this works
Aug 18, 2015 8:53 PM - PeterkSharma: figure out that delta?
Aug 18, 2015 8:53 PM - Mike Kelly: also what are those blue disks on your corners?
    Aug 18, 2015 8:53 PM - PeterkSharma: https://www.facebook.com/wfaachannel8/videos/vb.55326701544/10153142107521545/?type=2&theater
Aug 18, 2015 8:53 PM - Blake Benefield: See previous statement MK
Aug 18, 2015 8:53 PM - Mike Glass: lol no something more complicated
Aug 18, 2015 8:53 PM - Mike Kelly: i think it was berrybot
Aug 18, 2015 8:54 PM - Mike Glass: yea berrybot, thats it
    Aug 18, 2015 8:54 PM - Mike Glass: yea you like that..lol
Aug 18, 2015 8:54 PM - Mike Glass: same thing I have on my robo, had to tie them together
    Aug 18, 2015 8:55 PM - Mike Kelly: oh
    Aug 18, 2015 8:57 PM - Mike Kelly: i am confused
Aug 18, 2015 8:58 PM - Mike Glass: maybe the video will explain better
    Aug 18, 2015 8:58 PM - Mike Kelly: video?
Aug 18, 2015 8:59 PM - Mike Glass: oh what are you talking about?
Aug 18, 2015 8:59 PM - Mike Kelly: i guess it hasn't been made yet
Aug 18, 2015 9:00 PM - Mike Glass: havent uploaded it yet
    Aug 18, 2015 9:00 PM - Mike Kelly: gotcha
Aug 18, 2015 9:00 PM - PeterkSharma: do you have yo build a berrybot from scratch or do they sell kits. cant seem to find much info on them
    Aug 18, 2015 9:01 PM - Mike Kelly: it's a one of a kind

Aug 18, 2015 at 9:10 PM - Mike Glass: not sure where they get 9" from though
Aug 18, 2015 at 9:10 PM - Mike Kelly: usually that's the max length
Aug 18, 2015 at 9:10 PM - Mike Glass: as it fits with 1/2 to spare in the 4" piece of conduit
Aug 18, 2015 at 9:11 PM - Mike Glass: awe
Aug 18, 2015 at 9:11 PM - Mike Kelly: happen to remember what you paid? http://www.amazon.com/National-Hard...=1439957596&sr=8-24&keywords=turnbuckle+5/16"
    Aug 18, 2015 at 9:12 PM - Mike Glass: 2 something a piece
Aug 18, 2015 at 9:13 PM - Mike Kelly: ok cool
Aug 18, 2015 at 9:15 PM - Mike Glass: I suppose you could use any length of pipe but not sure why you would go higher then what I have, its actually taller by an inch the the previous setup I had.
Aug 18, 2015 at 9:17 PM - Mike Glass: you need to make this for your sisters kids. http://www.instructables.com/id/Rocking-Speeder-Bike/
Aug 18, 2015 at 9:23 PM - nonmindo: BTW here is what my print looks like with the eSun white PLA after reverting my firmware changes and turning the bed temp down from 85c to 60c

Aug 18, 2015 at 9:51 PM - Mike Glass: lovely
Aug 18, 2015 at 9:55 PM - PeterkSharma: after the first cm my print always messes up
Aug 18, 2015 at 9:55 PM - PeterkSharma: first cm always looks spectacular
Aug 18, 2015 at 10:19 PM - nonmindo: in my pic i linked above there is something that i have been noticing on prints, wondering if any one has tips to rectify it.... if you look at the right side of the print, where there are curves, you can see 2 lines running down the print, those are not by design...
Aug 18, 2015 at 10:29 PM - PeterkSharma: oh strage
Aug 18, 2015 at 10:29 PM - PeterkSharma: I would try slicing it with a different slicer and see if it does the same thing
Aug 18, 2015 at 10:29 PM - PeterkSharma: maybe print just like an ince
    Aug 18, 2015 at 10:29 PM - PeterkSharma: inch
    Aug 18, 2015 at 10:29 PM - PeterkSharma: personally
Aug 18, 2015 at 10:31 PM - PeterkSharma: MG, trying out a 32 hour print
Aug 18, 2015 at 10:33 PM - nonmindo: well, I AM using MC still lol..... and the "MCSlicer profile"
Aug 18, 2015 at 10:35 PM - PeterkSharma: i have heard a lot of people having problems with it

Aug 18, 2015 at 10:37 PM - nonmindo: I think he is printing a 10x10x10 calibration cube on a Tiko
Aug 18, 2015 at 10:40 PM - Mike Glass: that would take 32 days
    Aug 18, 2015 at 10:41 PM - PeterkSharma: I'm printing a bong
    Aug 18, 2015 at 10:41 PM - PeterkSharma: 202 mm tall
Aug 18, 2015 at 10:41 PM - PeterkSharma: For some kid that work at a smoke shop
Aug 18, 2015 at 10:59 PM - Kevin Nguyen: anyone want to tell me about petg and if it warps like bas
Aug 18, 2015 at 10:59 PM - Kevin Nguyen: abs
Aug 18, 2015 at 11:05 PM - PeterkSharma: have you check the site of whoever makes the filament you are using?
Aug 18, 2015 at 11:06 PM - Kevin Nguyen: i was thinking of buying a roll dont have any on hand to play with
Aug 18, 2015 at 11:07 PM - nonmindo: the short of it, prints like PLA, strong like ABS
Aug 18, 2015 at 11:09 PM - Kevin Nguyen: oh wow, never had problems with pla. must be nice. gonna order a roll
Aug 18, 2015 at 11:09 PM - nonmindo: I got this from the google machine
    Aug 18, 2015 at 11:09 PM - nonmindo: http://3d-printizer.com/blog/?p=258
Aug 18, 2015 at 11:10 PM - nonmindo: I also ordered a roll, which will be here tomorrow, but i wont get to test it till thursday... I picked up some eSun yellow PETG...also, it looks like all PETG is transparent(translucent?)
Aug 18, 2015 at 11:11 PM - Kevin Nguyen: i saw some on amazon thats colored
Aug 18, 2015 at 11:11 PM - nonmindo: yea, amazon is where i ordered it
Aug 19, 2015 at 12:36 AM - nonmindo: got a question, the friend with the M3D also has a 2013 printrbot simple, once his prints are done it has a line up the back, he said he observed the print and it seems like it is happening when the print head changes direction for the next layer, is this just a slicer issue or doe he need to calibrate something
Aug 19, 2015 at 12:42 AM - nonmindo: correction it was on his M3D lol
Aug 19, 2015 at 3:40 AM - Bill Monroe: good morning
Aug 19, 2015 at 4:43 AM - Blake Benefield: Morning.
    Aug 19, 2015 at 4:51 AM - jbigler1986: morning
Aug 19, 2015 at 4:54 AM - Mike Glass: morninggg
    Aug 19, 2015 at 5:02 AM - jbigler1986: It's to early for you
Aug 19, 2015 at 5:02 AM - Mike Glass: yea, we are babysitting 2 dogs so we have 5 of them in the house, effin crazy
Aug 19, 2015 at 5:10 AM - Blake Benefield: Whos dogs mike?
Aug 19, 2015 at 5:12 AM - Blake Benefield: Print failed last night
    Aug 19, 2015 at 5:14 AM - jbigler1986: how?
Aug 19, 2015 at 5:15 AM - Blake Benefield: I think something happened during the bridge
Aug 19, 2015 at 5:17 AM - Blake Benefield: I took a picture at 28%, finished doing a few things and came back to shut off the monitor and it had failed. I think when the printer bridged the SD slot it didnt stick well or something and then the fan duct caught it
    Aug 19, 2015 at 5:17 AM - jbigler1986: that sucks
Aug 19, 2015 at 5:18 AM - Blake Benefield: Its possible that the cooling fan cut on too.
Aug 19, 2015 at 5:18 AM - jbigler1986: is there a fun on the blowing on the electronics board?
Aug 19, 2015 at 5:18 AM - Blake Benefield: Nope
Aug 19, 2015 at 5:19 AM - jbigler1986: i would add one to help prevent overheating issues
Aug 19, 2015 at 5:19 AM - Blake Benefield: There's also not a box around the board or anything
    Aug 19, 2015 at 5:20 AM - jbigler1986: what box
Aug 19, 2015 at 5:21 AM - Mike Glass: you dont want the fan on for abs though
Aug 19, 2015 at 5:21 AM - Blake Benefield: Ya know how some printers have the boards mounted in an enclosure. Hic is just open
Aug 19, 2015 at 5:21 AM - Blake Benefield: Was also printing in ABS
Aug 19, 2015 at 5:22 AM - jbigler1986: yeah that will help the board. i would add a fan too though
Aug 19, 2015 at 5:28 AM - Blake Benefield: [IMG]
Aug 19, 2015 at 5:28 AM - Blake Benefield: Raft went fine.
Aug 19, 2015 at 5:33 AM - Blake Benefield: [IMG]
Aug 19, 2015 at 5:33 AM - Blake Benefield: That was at 28%. Failed around 10 minutes later
Aug 19, 2015 at 5:34 AM - Mike Glass: you could do brim instead of raft also, less waste.
Aug 19, 2015 at 5:35 AM - jbigler1986: you can also print with pla :)
Aug 19, 2015 at 5:35 AM - Blake Benefield: Only PLA i have is purple. i dont want a purple and black printer
Aug 19, 2015 at 5:36 AM - Mike Glass: he didnt order the abs.
Aug 19, 2015 at 5:36 AM - jbigler1986: what are you waiting for then. time to bust out the cc
Aug 19, 2015 at 5:38 AM - Blake Benefield: Yeah. I ordered 3 spools of PLA. Figured i would get used to that before moving to ABS. Then 2 rolls of PLA showed up as ABS

Aug 19, 2015 at 5:41 AM - Blake Benefield: I had it set to 235 for temp. But in cura you have to go into the expert settings to disable the parts cooler. Im wondering if it didnt cut on and mess things up
Aug 19, 2015 at 6:12 AM - PeterkSharma: My prints have been failing a about 15 min into the print as well
Aug 19, 2015 at 6:13 AM - daniel871: Are you running off the SD card, Peter?
Aug 19, 2015 at 6:13 AM - daniel871: That kind of failure is usually to do with the USB going to sleep on the PC if you're running that way.
Aug 19, 2015 at 6:14 AM - PeterkSharma: Yea SD card
Aug 19, 2015 at 6:15 AM - PeterkSharma: I think there is something wrong with z steps height
Aug 19, 2015 at 6:19 AM - jbigler1986: that also could be the ramps overheating. check the ramps fan
    Aug 19, 2015 at 6:21 AM - Mike Glass: ^
Aug 19, 2015 at 6:22 AM - Mike Glass: bet the fan is not plugged in
Aug 19, 2015 at 6:22 AM - daniel871: Would it hurt if the fan was plugged in backwards?
Aug 19, 2015 at 6:23 AM - daniel871: Always wondered about that but haven't seen any issues in all the times that fan has come unplugged when opening the bottom to add motors or the LCD or whatever.
Aug 19, 2015 at 6:26 AM - jbigler1986: mine was plugged in backwards. would turn on. so yeah it hurts. lol
    Aug 19, 2015 at 6:27 AM - jbigler1986: wouldn't turn on*
Aug 19, 2015 at 6:27 AM - daniel871: Guess I'm just lucky about plugging it in correctly every time, as it comes on. :p
Aug 19, 2015 at 6:28 AM - daniel871: It'll be nice when the rain/thunderstorms stop so I can go play with my printer in the shop some more.
Aug 19, 2015 at 6:39 AM - daniel871: It'll also be nice if Ben Mac stops hemming and hawing and buys a printer already.
Aug 19, 2015 at 6:39 AM - Blake Benefield: Yeah. Had to drive to corinth ms this morning. Rained the whole way
Aug 19, 2015 at 6:41 AM - daniel871: For regular printers, I'm eyeballing this pretty hard this morning. http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00MFG58N6?psc=1&redirect=true&ref_=oh_aui_detailpage_o00_s00
Aug 19, 2015 at 6:42 AM - daniel871: Wifi networked, scanning, duplex printing, laser. Mmmm....
Aug 19, 2015 at 6:52 AM - Bill Monroe: good morning
    Aug 19, 2015 at 6:54 AM - Mike Kelly: that's a good price for a laser w/ scanner
    Aug 19, 2015 at 6:56 AM - jbigler1986: morning guys
Aug 19, 2015 at 6:58 AM - daniel871: Saw where someone took an old Treadmill and turned it into a CNC machine on the FB CNC machine group.
    Aug 19, 2015 at 6:58 AM - daniel871: That's hilarious.
Aug 19, 2015 at 7:05 AM - daniel871: Now where can I re-host the video they posted of it running.
    Aug 19, 2015 at 7:06 AM - jbigler1986: cncporn.com?
Aug 19, 2015 at 7:08 AM - daniel871: Eh. The actual video is pretty short and you don't get to see the whole machine.
Aug 19, 2015 at 7:08 AM - Mike Kelly: youtube
    Aug 19, 2015 at 7:08 AM - daniel871:

Aug 19, 2015 at 7:08 AM - daniel871: They use it to carve signs
Aug 19, 2015 at 7:09 AM - daniel871: Looking forward to them getting hammered with a C&D from Harley Davidson and them getting mad about it.
Aug 19, 2015 at 7:09 AM - Mike Kelly: nice machine
    Aug 19, 2015 at 7:10 AM - Mike Kelly: that's a bit more than just a treadmill :)
Aug 19, 2015 at 7:10 AM - daniel871: Yeah, I pointed that out to my mom about the treadmill she used to have that she sold a couple years ago and she got pretty mad about it.
Aug 19, 2015 at 7:10 AM - daniel871: Nice starting point for framework though.
Aug 19, 2015 at 7:11 AM - Mike Kelly: yeah
Aug 19, 2015 at 7:11 AM - daniel871: Now imagine doing something similar, but with a 3d printer head on it and a good way to install the heated bed with the "belt" being something that can stand the heat and a way to have it basically run a revolution of the belt after the print is done to eject it into a box.
    Aug 19, 2015 at 7:12 AM - daniel871: Probably shatter the print though. :p
Aug 19, 2015 at 7:13 AM - daniel871: I think there used to be a printer with something similar on it that used a conveyor mechanism to do the same thing, but don't know if it ever worked very well.
    Aug 19, 2015 at 7:13 AM - daniel871: Something-matic.
Aug 19, 2015 at 7:13 AM - daniel871: Emmet on Thingiverse had some mods for it.
Aug 19, 2015 at 7:15 AM - Mike Kelly: yeah i was gonna say that sounds vaguely familiar
    Aug 19, 2015 at 7:16 AM - daniel871: Duh, Thing-A-Matic

Aug 19, 2015 at 7:19 AM - Mike Kelly: legacy is hard
Aug 19, 2015 at 7:21 AM - daniel871: At least they made the instructions to build one in PDF so that it's hard to break later. http://downloads.makerbot.com/suppo...-O-Matic Build Instructions for Educators.pdf
Aug 19, 2015 at 7:22 AM - daniel871: Assuming you can still buy the parts linked there somewhere.

Aug 19, 2015 at 7:31 AM - Mike Kelly: voting deez nuts
Aug 19, 2015 at 7:33 AM - daniel871: I wish that candidate would get more attention to really highlight how much of a circus it is.
Aug 19, 2015 at 7:34 AM - jbigler1986: i'm not voting this time. it's going to suck no matter who wins
Aug 19, 2015 at 7:34 AM - Mike Kelly: it's just like when arnold ran for governor
Aug 19, 2015 at 7:34 AM - Mike Kelly: i'll probably throw my vote away on some 3rd party because w/e
Aug 19, 2015 at 7:35 AM - daniel871: Deez Nuts wins thru apathy.
Aug 19, 2015 at 7:35 AM - Mike Kelly: that would be hilarious
Aug 19, 2015 at 7:35 AM - jbigler1986: and some random redneck will shit himself
Aug 19, 2015 at 7:36 AM - daniel871: Think of the bumper nut sales that will never happen if that campaign actually takes off.
Aug 19, 2015 at 7:37 AM - daniel871: Or, alternatively, the impact that campaign would have on the kind of people that actually buy them and put them on trucks/cars/whatever.
Aug 19, 2015 at 7:37 AM - daniel871: Random rednecks have been shitting themselves for eight years already.
    Aug 19, 2015 at 7:38 AM - daniel871: Basically this:
Aug 19, 2015 at 7:39 AM - daniel871: Also probably the funniest American Horror Story season.
Aug 19, 2015 at 7:40 AM - jbigler1986: i mean that the deez nuts person will shit themselves for winning
Aug 19, 2015 at 7:42 AM - daniel871: I wish there was anything other than news articles laughing about it so I could post the guy's picture.
Aug 19, 2015 at 7:43 AM - JeffTheMess: morning robonauts
Aug 19, 2015 at 7:43 AM - Mike Kelly: morning jeff
Aug 19, 2015 at 7:44 AM - JeffTheMess: sup Mike, hope to get my stud thermistor soon
Aug 19, 2015 at 7:44 AM - Mike Kelly: sweet
Aug 19, 2015 at 7:45 AM - Mike Kelly: i'm looking forward to the PT100 that the bigbox is including
Aug 19, 2015 at 7:45 AM - Mike Kelly: RTD's are way better than thermistors
Aug 19, 2015 at 7:45 AM - JeffTheMess: yeah, I couldnt handle that teeny tiny thing they send out
    Aug 19, 2015 at 7:45 AM - JeffTheMess: nice
Aug 19, 2015 at 7:46 AM - Mike Kelly: yeah i ruined my first 2 like immediately
Aug 19, 2015 at 7:46 AM - Mike Kelly: i've gotten better at handling them but i still don't like their fragility
Aug 19, 2015 at 7:46 AM - JeffTheMess: yeah I heard of those pretty good
Aug 19, 2015 at 7:48 AM - Mike Kelly: i like the screw in thermocouple the replicators use
Aug 19, 2015 at 7:48 AM - Mike Kelly: but i'm not sure where to get them for less than $40
    Aug 19, 2015 at 7:49 AM - Mike Kelly: http://www.p3-d.com/replicator-2-thermocouple.html
    Aug 19, 2015 at 7:52 AM - daniel871: Hm.
Aug 19, 2015 at 7:52 AM - daniel871: If I want to change the v6 thermistors out for the stud thermistors, what's the thermistor number I should use in the firmware change?
    Aug 19, 2015 at 7:53 AM - Mike Kelly: 1
    Aug 19, 2015 at 7:53 AM - Mike Kelly: they're epcos
    Aug 19, 2015 at 7:54 AM - daniel871: Thanks.
Aug 19, 2015 at 7:54 AM - JeffTheMess: yeah prepare for a ton of firmware questions from me, i know jack of it, atleast its a way to get my feet wet (instead of going full board dual extruder right off the bat that can't read C)
Aug 19, 2015 at 7:55 AM - JeffTheMess: arduino code*
Aug 19, 2015 at 7:55 AM - daniel871: Think I'll change them out just to be safe on whether or not the thermistors are moving about.
    Aug 19, 2015 at 7:55 AM - jbigler1986: i haven't had any issues with the cheap ones i bought
Aug 19, 2015 at 7:55 AM - daniel871: Once I get everything finalized on mine I'll upload a Zip of my firmware and some stipulations of what has to be the same in order for it to have a chance of owrking.
Aug 19, 2015 at 7:57 AM - daniel871: Oh, that reminds me, I need to get some more silver solder wire to replace what I used up between the wiring on the robo and the battery/UPS rigging.

Aug 19, 2015 at 8:05 AM - Blake Benefield: this benmac guy is really under daniels skni
Aug 19, 2015 at 8:08 AM - daniel871: Yeah. We're talking about a machine that extrudes .4mm x .1mm lines until it generates and object (at high quality with the default Robo hardware). It will take many hours to print anything of substantial size and that guy is talking like he can make all these trinkets and prototypes faster than whatever.
Aug 19, 2015 at 8:09 AM - daniel871: That's assuming the Robo he gets has everything tightened down properly and doesn't shit the bed with a loose nozzle/hexagon assembly or something.
Aug 19, 2015 at 8:10 AM - jbigler1986: well i don't think he can afford one right now by the sounds of things
Aug 19, 2015 at 8:11 AM - daniel871: I don't think he'll have the patience to work on the printer with that rant about how he doesn't handle stress/whatever well.

    Aug 19, 2015 at 8:16 AM - jbigler1986: that they do
Aug 19, 2015 at 8:18 AM - jbigler1986: that's not worries me about it. He sounds like he doesn't have much money. I really don't like to see people be broke and suffer because they made a bad choice
Aug 19, 2015 at 8:18 AM - daniel871: If your credit is so bad that you only got $500 when you applied for a credit account, especially with how eager card companies are to allow you to build up a large principle balance for their interest-based income, you should probably hold off on getting a 3D printer until you get everything else straightened out in your life.
Aug 19, 2015 at 8:18 AM - Blake Benefield: i shoulda took one this morning... 4 hour drive to work to work on a stupid parata max robot
Aug 19, 2015 at 8:19 AM - JeffTheMess: jeez I wanna be entertain by this post
Aug 19, 2015 at 8:19 AM - WheresWaldo: Morning, I see the conversation surrounds benmac this morning.
Aug 19, 2015 at 8:19 AM - Blake Benefield: Most credit companies have started to use the $500 max limit as an initial start Daniel, when I opened my lowes account it started off at $500 and after 6 months jumped to $4k
Aug 19, 2015 at 8:20 AM - Blake Benefield: so long as you aren't late or don't miss a payment they go up pretty quick
Aug 19, 2015 at 8:20 AM - daniel871: Dude's previous avatar was a photo of a guy that was easily in his late 30s/early 40s. The nonsense about buying a 3d Printer and raking in money with his designs has me facepalming.
Aug 19, 2015 at 8:20 AM - Mike Kelly: maybe you should just ignore him
Aug 19, 2015 at 8:20 AM - Blake Benefield: I don't have perfect credit but it isn't bad. At least not yet. ex wife's has a house i'm attached to that's probably going to go into forclosure that's gonna change that
Aug 19, 2015 at 8:20 AM - WheresWaldo: You are forgetting his is a secured card, no not a real credit card
Aug 19, 2015 at 8:22 AM - daniel871: In one way that's even worse, as you usually only resort to those if regular credit companies won't issue a card to you.
Aug 19, 2015 at 8:22 AM - daniel871: Here is a cash deposit to open a line of credit with me, good bye money I should probably be spending on stuff at home.
Aug 19, 2015 at 8:23 AM - jbigler1986: his post don't bother me. I don't don't want him to buy something that he will regret and be totally broke or can't buy filament for it
Aug 19, 2015 at 8:23 AM - daniel871: Yeah, he's going on the ignore list if this forum has one that works.
Aug 19, 2015 at 8:23 AM - WheresWaldo: Yeah, so likely he went through a bankruptcy or has other severe credit problems.
Aug 19, 2015 at 8:23 AM - Mike Kelly: "first, sorry for my english, im from spain(not mexico) "
Aug 19, 2015 at 8:23 AM - donhuevo: ignore definitely works
    Aug 19, 2015 at 8:23 AM - jbigler1986: lol
Aug 19, 2015 at 8:23 AM - Mike Kelly: does he really assume we have no idea spain is different from mexico?
    Aug 19, 2015 at 8:23 AM - daniel871: A lot of people assume that.
    Aug 19, 2015 at 8:24 AM - daniel871: See: The South.
Aug 19, 2015 at 8:24 AM - Mike Kelly: probably fair point
Aug 19, 2015 at 8:24 AM - donhuevo: you may have been confused by his accent
Aug 19, 2015 at 8:24 AM - WheresWaldo: MK That comment was odd to me too, not all Americans think spanish speakers are all from Mexico.
Aug 19, 2015 at 8:24 AM - Mike Kelly: there are still people who don't know NM is a state...
    Aug 19, 2015 at 8:24 AM - jbigler1986: those people need shot
Aug 19, 2015 at 8:24 AM - donhuevo: or West Consin for that matter
Aug 19, 2015 at 8:24 AM - Mike Kelly: yes they do
    Aug 19, 2015 at 8:24 AM - jbigler1986: West Consin? lmao
Aug 19, 2015 at 8:25 AM - daniel871: My favorite statistic is how many natural born citizens would fail the immigration/citizenship test.
Aug 19, 2015 at 8:25 AM - Mike Kelly: i think we need a policy where once you turn 18 if you can't answer basic questions like "Is New Mexico part of the US or Mexico" and they answer wrong you get shot
Aug 19, 2015 at 8:25 AM - Mike Kelly: call it the intelligence in american act
    Aug 19, 2015 at 8:25 AM - jbigler1986: sounds good to me
Aug 19, 2015 at 8:25 AM - WheresWaldo: I am generally not bothered by those types of posts, but I do want to tell Frankn that it's HEY not HAY
Aug 19, 2015 at 8:26 AM - Mike Kelly: frankn bugs me
Aug 19, 2015 at 8:26 AM - Mike Kelly: him and his weird pictures
Aug 19, 2015 at 8:26 AM - Mike Kelly: might motivate kids to pay attention in school if they knew their life depended on it lol
Aug 19, 2015 at 8:26 AM - jbigler1986: Well US school system is a mess
Aug 19, 2015 at 8:26 AM - Mike Kelly: agreed
Aug 19, 2015 at 8:26 AM - jbigler1986: They think adding more and more work will make them smarter and learn more
Aug 19, 2015 at 8:27 AM - jbigler1986: it has the opposite effect
Aug 19, 2015 at 8:27 AM - Mike Kelly: and also their stupid standardized testing plan
Aug 19, 2015 at 8:27 AM - WheresWaldo: I would like to think that all of us here now are above average intelligence and we are products of the US school system
Aug 19, 2015 at 8:27 AM - Mike Kelly: here's a tip: standardized tests is the worst way of measuring aptitude
Aug 19, 2015 at 8:28 AM - jbigler1986: My kids bring home homework every single day. Even in Kindergarten
    Aug 19, 2015 at 8:28 AM - jbigler1986: It's insane
Aug 19, 2015 at 8:28 AM - Mike Kelly: there was a commedian that said "I pay taxes for schools even though I don't have kids, because I don't want to live in a country full of idiots"
Aug 19, 2015 at 8:29 AM - WheresWaldo: So I went to school back in the dark ages and I had homework every day, didn't always bring it home, but it was there.
Aug 19, 2015 at 8:29 AM - Mike Glass: are we talking politics?
Aug 19, 2015 at 8:30 AM - Mike Kelly: speaking of idiots, let's play a game of who can spot my design flaw: [IMG]
Aug 19, 2015 at 8:30 AM - Mike Kelly: [IMG]
Aug 19, 2015 at 8:30 AM - Mike Glass: oops cord
Aug 19, 2015 at 8:31 AM - Mike Kelly: when designing, don't forget about the cord >_<
Aug 19, 2015 at 8:31 AM - Mike Glass: mine doesnt go all they down to cover the button
Aug 19, 2015 at 8:31 AM - WheresWaldo: MG, this started as a discussion of benmac, then moved to Spain vs Mexico then just went downhill from there, when I joined the converstation.
Aug 19, 2015 at 8:32 AM - Mike Glass: Mk I posted the video
Aug 19, 2015 at 8:32 AM - Mike Kelly: oh awesome
Aug 19, 2015 at 8:32 AM - Mike Kelly: i'll check that out
Aug 19, 2015 at 8:32 AM - Mike Kelly: so yeah get to remake that piece most likely
Aug 19, 2015 at 8:32 AM - Mike Glass: its lame, but you will get the point
Aug 19, 2015 at 8:33 AM - Mike Kelly: debating between reprinting and cutting it up
Aug 19, 2015 at 8:33 AM - Mike Glass: you have to push it in to lock it or does it have two wrench spots.
Aug 19, 2015 at 8:33 AM - Mike Kelly: push in lock
Aug 19, 2015 at 8:33 AM - Mike Kelly: [IMG]
Aug 19, 2015 at 8:33 AM - jbigler1986: well make you will fix the layers if you reprint
Aug 19, 2015 at 8:34 AM - Mike Kelly: if i make another i'm gonna throw on a 0.6mm nozzle
    Aug 19, 2015 at 8:34 AM - jbigler1986: i can't spell today
Aug 19, 2015 at 8:34 AM - Mike Glass: lol
Aug 19, 2015 at 8:34 AM - Mike Glass: oh I thought you meant on the router..haha
Aug 19, 2015 at 8:35 AM - Mike Kelly: i'm also still strongly considering removing the router controls from the router itself and relocating them off to the side
Aug 19, 2015 at 8:35 AM - Mike Kelly: then design and print a new cap
Aug 19, 2015 at 8:36 AM - Mike Kelly: but i'm still not sure
Aug 19, 2015 at 8:37 AM - daniel871: Depending on the usage the router may be a bad idea over a proper spindle.
Aug 19, 2015 at 8:37 AM - Mike Glass: colt has a relief for another wrench. [IMG]
Aug 19, 2015 at 8:37 AM - daniel871: Those things generate some serious heat as they run.
Aug 19, 2015 at 8:38 AM - Mike Glass: yep thats a good thing they ave replaceable parts.
Aug 19, 2015 at 8:39 AM - Mike Glass: I know the colt at least these older versions are proven to be work horses in the cnc world.
Aug 19, 2015 at 8:40 AM - daniel871: Ah, I saw yellow body plastic and thought it was a DeWalt.
Aug 19, 2015 at 8:41 AM - daniel871: The ones they use at work with laminate trimming bits to clean up CNC machined UHMW parts overheat after twenty minutes of continuous use and have to be allowed to cool off.
Aug 19, 2015 at 8:42 AM - Mike Glass: most of them have switched to the dewalt because the newer colts are junk
    Aug 19, 2015 at 8:43 AM - Mike Kelly: I am using a dewalt
Aug 19, 2015 at 8:44 AM - daniel871: Are you controlling the RPM at all or is it just ON/OFF?
Aug 19, 2015 at 8:44 AM - Mike Glass: they are variable adjustment on the router
Aug 19, 2015 at 8:44 AM - Mike Kelly: It's got a speed controller on it that I'm gonna relocate to be accessible during use
Aug 19, 2015 at 8:46 AM - daniel871: You going to build a vacuum table to put under it?
Aug 19, 2015 at 8:47 AM - daniel871: Vacuum tables rule for CNC work btw.
Aug 19, 2015 at 8:47 AM - Mike Kelly: i would like to but don't think i can immediately
Aug 19, 2015 at 8:52 AM - daniel871: Design up some pieces you can 3d print and then weld together to make one. :p
Aug 19, 2015 at 8:53 AM - Mike Kelly: lol
Aug 19, 2015 at 8:55 AM - daniel871: You'd just need to design a scalable interlocking design. A corner piece, a piece that could be printed multiple times for the perimeter between the corners, and the interior pieces that would then interlock with the rest. Then carefully assemble and fill-weld the joints with relief grooves at the mating areas with one of those 3d printing pens.
Aug 19, 2015 at 8:55 AM - Mike Kelly: i wonder if this "Safty" typo is intentional
Aug 19, 2015 at 8:58 AM - Mike Kelly: ugh i really wish they had consulted me on this, this drawing is horrible to edit
    Aug 19, 2015 at 8:59 AM - daniel871: Drawign?
    Aug 19, 2015 at 8:59 AM - daniel871: Drawing?
Aug 19, 2015 at 8:59 AM - Mike Kelly: our drafter generated some drawings of the electrical
Aug 19, 2015 at 8:59 AM - Mike Kelly: but he drew the line diagram in a part file
Aug 19, 2015 at 8:59 AM - Mike Kelly: but put the labels on in the drawing file

Aug 19, 2015 at 8:59 AM - Mike Kelly: so now it's like impossible to manipulate
Aug 19, 2015 at 9:00 AM - daniel871: So you basically have to recreate it to make changes.
Aug 19, 2015 at 9:00 AM - Mike Kelly: basically
    Aug 19, 2015 at 9:00 AM - daniel871: Yeah, that's always fun.
Aug 19, 2015 at 9:00 AM - Mike Kelly: i'm trying to see if i can salvage some of his work and make it more editable
Aug 19, 2015 at 9:01 AM - Mike Kelly: but it's not going well
Aug 19, 2015 at 9:01 AM - daniel871: My favorite thing is getting a DWG file where there are hundreds of lines on top of each other and all of the dimensions have been exploded.
Aug 19, 2015 at 9:01 AM - Mike Kelly: ughhh fuckkkkkkkkkkkkkk
Aug 19, 2015 at 9:02 AM - daniel871: Like, at first glance it looks like a single line, but you start clicking and find there are actually a bunch of segments in line and overlapping each other.
    Aug 19, 2015 at 9:02 AM - daniel871: What? SW crashed?
Aug 19, 2015 at 9:02 AM - Mike Kelly: no just how totally jacked up this is
Aug 19, 2015 at 9:02 AM - Mike Kelly: yeah i hate people who don't clean up their lines
Aug 19, 2015 at 9:02 AM - Mike Kelly: it's really not that hard
Aug 19, 2015 at 9:03 AM - daniel871: To be fair, I haven't really mastered how to put notes on something at the part level and have everything come across to the drawing file without basically having to relabel and dimension everything.
Aug 19, 2015 at 9:04 AM - daniel871: Or re-dimension in a way that the shop will recognize vs. how Solidworks has you dimension things in the modeling area.
Aug 19, 2015 at 9:04 AM - Mike Kelly: yup
Aug 19, 2015 at 9:04 AM - Mike Kelly: i usually dimension things wrong in my part files vs what a machinist would need
Aug 19, 2015 at 9:04 AM - JeffTheMess: grow your own filament?
Aug 19, 2015 at 9:05 AM - daniel871: Yeah, Solidworks doesn't like it when I try to dimension something the way I would on a 2d drafting view.
    Aug 19, 2015 at 9:05 AM - daniel871: OVERDEFINED
Aug 19, 2015 at 9:05 AM - daniel871: DO YOU WANT TO LEAVE THIS AS A DRIVEN DIMENSION OR MAKE IT A DRIVING DIMENSION.
Aug 19, 2015 at 9:05 AM - daniel871: Also mates breaking upon reloading an assembly that Solidworks had no objection to in a previous session.
Aug 19, 2015 at 9:05 AM - Mike Kelly: my favorite message
    Aug 19, 2015 at 9:06 AM - Mike Kelly: that's something i'll never understand
Aug 19, 2015 at 9:07 AM - daniel871: One good thing about it is that I have to base the mates on how the things would actually be put together in real life (which can be tricky some times for the threaded/screw mechanical mates and stuff.
Aug 19, 2015 at 9:07 AM - Mike Kelly: yup
Aug 19, 2015 at 9:07 AM - Mike Kelly: i use a lot of the routing function and that thing is very finicky
Aug 19, 2015 at 9:07 AM - daniel871: What I hate is when Solidworks gives up and refuses to attempt to even move parts into a mate that I know damn well will work.
Aug 19, 2015 at 9:08 AM - Mike Kelly: is there an easy way to remove all the dimensions in a drawing
Aug 19, 2015 at 9:08 AM - daniel871: I know these cylinders aren't in line and one of them is currently whatever distance out of line. MOVE THEM INTO CONCENTRIC ALIGNMENT.
Aug 19, 2015 at 9:09 AM - daniel871: Not that I know of. I basically delete a view and reinsert it and redimension.
Aug 19, 2015 at 9:09 AM - daniel871: Fastest way I know if I really want to get rid of the dims.
    Aug 19, 2015 at 9:09 AM - Mike Kelly: yeah that's a good idea
Aug 19, 2015 at 9:09 AM - daniel871: Just make sure it won't break/remove projected views you actually want to keep.
    Aug 19, 2015 at 9:10 AM - Mike Kelly: it's only a 2d sketch
Aug 19, 2015 at 9:10 AM - daniel871: Sometimes it removes everything done after projection-wise and sometimes it doesn't.
Aug 19, 2015 at 9:11 AM - daniel871: Haven't used the electrical side of Solidworks much. Just mechanical stuff.
Aug 19, 2015 at 9:11 AM - Mike Kelly: ok so here's what he did, he drew the circuit line diagram in a normal parts file
Aug 19, 2015 at 9:12 AM - Mike Kelly: then he insert the line diagram into a drawing file
Aug 19, 2015 at 9:12 AM - daniel871: I do wish exploded views were a little more intelligent about how it defaults on the dotted line drawings when trying to correctly show the assembly steps.
Aug 19, 2015 at 9:12 AM - Mike Kelly: and added the names
Aug 19, 2015 at 9:13 AM - daniel871: I would think you would delete the things in the drawing file and add the names and such as labels/notes in the model and then go back to the drawing and have it pull all model dimensions.
Aug 19, 2015 at 9:13 AM - Mike Kelly: in a situation like this I'd do everything in a drawing file
Aug 19, 2015 at 9:13 AM - daniel871: Don't remember if there is an automatic option as you insert views or not though.
Aug 19, 2015 at 9:16 AM - daniel871: Time to fire up DraftSight and just 2d draw it?
Aug 19, 2015 at 9:16 AM - daniel871: Other than DraftSight being a tremendous memory hog for some reason?
Aug 19, 2015 at 9:16 AM - Mike Kelly: what i'm doing right now is removing all the dimensions he added to the blocks in the part file
Aug 19, 2015 at 9:17 AM - Mike Kelly: then i'm gonna copy that sketch into a new drawing file
Aug 19, 2015 at 9:17 AM - Mike Kelly: and hopefully copy the labels he added into his drawing file
Aug 19, 2015 at 9:21 AM - Mike Kelly: ugh nope
Aug 19, 2015 at 9:24 AM - Mike Glass: man, flex shaft grinder just fell off the pole and landed on back of my head. fuck
Aug 19, 2015 at 9:24 AM - Mike Kelly: fucking ow
Aug 19, 2015 at 9:25 AM - Mike Glass: grinding metal and it got stuck so the motor twisted and fell off the stand,, haha dumbass
Aug 19, 2015 at 9:25 AM - Mike Kelly: omg yessss
Aug 19, 2015 at 9:25 AM - Mike Kelly: "Replace view with sketch"
Aug 19, 2015 at 9:26 AM - Mike Kelly: thank you solidworks!
Aug 19, 2015 at 9:29 AM - Blake Benefield: Don't use the hook MG
    Aug 19, 2015 at 9:37 AM - daniel871: I'm cracking up over here: [IMG]
    Aug 19, 2015 at 9:38 AM - daniel871: Why.
Aug 19, 2015 at 9:38 AM - Mike Kelly: i had no idea that made me laugh
Aug 19, 2015 at 9:38 AM - jbigler1986: i told him to remove the nuts
Aug 19, 2015 at 9:39 AM - Mike Kelly: mark is awesome
Aug 19, 2015 at 9:39 AM - jbigler1986: yeah he has a lot of patience
Aug 19, 2015 at 9:41 AM - Mike Kelly: helpin that guy in spanish
Aug 19, 2015 at 9:41 AM - JeffTheMess: why did he do that?
Aug 19, 2015 at 9:41 AM - daniel871: Nice way to keep the spring/washer from flying off if you loosen the tensioner too much, but it removes the tensioning function altogether. :p
Aug 19, 2015 at 9:41 AM - jbigler1986: some people have no idea what they are doing
Aug 19, 2015 at 9:41 AM - Mike Kelly: cause he's stand up
Aug 19, 2015 at 9:42 AM - Mike Kelly: it would make for a good backlash nut to set a rigid tension
Aug 19, 2015 at 9:42 AM - daniel871: On the inside of the latch, eh?
Aug 19, 2015 at 9:43 AM - daniel871: Then it would still serve the same purpose of keeping the spring on the bolt if you f-up and loosen too much.
Aug 19, 2015 at 9:43 AM - jbigler1986: he has a ton of shavings around his hobb too. from the looks of it
Aug 19, 2015 at 9:44 AM - daniel871: Can't tell you how many times I had to look around for a washer on the floor because I had to clean the hobb.
Aug 19, 2015 at 9:44 AM - daniel871: So glad I got away from that with the hercustruder.
Aug 19, 2015 at 9:44 AM - jbigler1986: just gotta be careful how you remove it
Aug 19, 2015 at 9:44 AM - Mike Kelly: definitely launched those springs across my garage more than once...
    Aug 19, 2015 at 9:45 AM - jbigler1986: i lost them a few times
Aug 19, 2015 at 9:47 AM - Mike Kelly: there needs to be a hinge style mount for the bondtech
Aug 19, 2015 at 9:47 AM - jbigler1986: i need to pay that invoice here soon MK. forgot about those parts
Aug 19, 2015 at 9:47 AM - Mike Kelly: such a pain to change filaments
Aug 19, 2015 at 9:47 AM - daniel871: Oh man, Halloween work prank spotted. [IMG]
Aug 19, 2015 at 9:47 AM - Mike Kelly: yeah i found them on my desk the other day and was like "oh yeah"
Aug 19, 2015 at 9:47 AM - Mike Kelly: so whenever you want them
    Aug 19, 2015 at 9:47 AM - Mike Kelly: daniel, that's cruel
Aug 19, 2015 at 9:48 AM - Mike Glass: I would eat it
Aug 19, 2015 at 9:48 AM - jbigler1986: my son would love it
Aug 19, 2015 at 9:48 AM - daniel871: Make one with an actual apple and be seen eating it by other people.
Aug 19, 2015 at 9:48 AM - Mike Kelly: me too, i love onion
Aug 19, 2015 at 9:48 AM - daniel871: Yeah, would probably actually be good, but the shock of the unexpected flavor would be interesting to see.
Aug 19, 2015 at 9:48 AM - jbigler1986: not easy cutting onions around him. he always eats them
Aug 19, 2015 at 9:48 AM - Mike Kelly: yeah peoples reactions would make it worth it
Aug 19, 2015 at 9:49 AM - jbigler1986: until your boss is the one eating it
Aug 19, 2015 at 9:49 AM - Mike Kelly: then you find the one guy who just loves it and devours the whole thing
Aug 19, 2015 at 9:49 AM - daniel871: Bonus points for using a spicy onion.
Aug 19, 2015 at 9:50 AM - Mike Kelly: so i found out that the R1+ is going to have the Z offset hard programmed in the firmware at the factory
Aug 19, 2015 at 9:50 AM - daniel871: How will they manage that?
Aug 19, 2015 at 9:50 AM - Mike Kelly: and mattercontrol will have toggle buttons you can select the offset with
Aug 19, 2015 at 9:50 AM - jbigler1986: former Subway pitchman Jared Fogle reached a plea agreement with prosecutors that would see him serve between five and 12½ years in prison for handling child pornography and having sex with a minor.
Aug 19, 2015 at 9:50 AM - Mike Kelly: well i really hope they custom tune each one but i think it's more likely they just flash it to 1.0mm
    Aug 19, 2015 at 9:50 AM - jbigler1986: disgusting

Aug 19, 2015 at 9:51 AM - jbigler1986: i would fuck someone up for touching my kids
Aug 19, 2015 at 9:51 AM - daniel871: He'd been doxxed or whatever about it shortly after he was featured in commercials.
Aug 19, 2015 at 9:52 AM - daniel871: Also many jokes about how Subway didn't want any attention to what Jared was doing at any time when he wasn't eating at Subway to lose weight (running porn sites).
    Aug 19, 2015 at 9:53 AM - Mike Kelly: subway's nasty anyways
    Aug 19, 2015 at 9:54 AM - daniel871: Better than McDonald's.

Aug 19, 2015 at 9:55 AM - Mike Kelly: arby's was rated one of the healthier fast food choices because they use good beef
Aug 19, 2015 at 9:55 AM - daniel871: Would mention Quizno's but all of those went out of business.

Aug 19, 2015 at 9:56 AM - jbigler1986: "Moscow has banned most food imports from the United States, European Union, Canada, Australia and other countries, in retaliation for Western sanctions imposed on Russia over its involvement in Ukraine."
    Aug 19, 2015 at 9:56 AM - jbigler1986: did not know that

Aug 19, 2015 at 9:59 AM - jbigler1986: Russia, along with Belarus and Kazakhstan, has effectively banned lacy underwear. The countries -- which form a custom union -- adopted a law in 2013 that requires clothing that comes into contact with the skin to contain at least 6% cotton, for safety reasons. But most luxury lingerie is made of materials with less than 4% cotton -- and therefore is not allowed.

Aug 19, 2015 at 10:05 AM - jbigler1986: this type of shit pisses me off. Ashley Madison, which is owned by Avid Life Media, is designed to help married people cheat on their spouses. Its slogan is "Life is short. Have an affair." The website claims to have nearly 39 million customers.

Aug 19, 2015 at 10:10 AM - donhuevo: I have to imagine it's fairly common for people to bump into their spouses on there
Aug 19, 2015 at 10:12 AM - Mike Kelly: statistically yes
Aug 19, 2015 at 10:14 AM - jbigler1986: i have never even heard of it
Aug 19, 2015 at 10:16 AM - Mike Kelly: i'd only heard of it from the hacking

Aug 19, 2015 at 10:28 AM - Mike Glass: do the bar top epoxy stuff, that would like killer.
Aug 19, 2015 at 10:29 AM - jbigler1986: hmmm. forgot about that stuff. i don't want it to be really slick though
Aug 19, 2015 at 10:30 AM - Mike Glass: if you do poly make sure you sand it aftere the first coat with 320, then keep doing that at least 2 more times

Aug 19, 2015 at 10:32 AM - Blake Benefield: MK, For vacuum table, design it in SW and cut 4" long 1/4" wide strips in a pattern. then run 1.5' pvc down the table saw and split in half, build the same shape as the table and duct it all to a dust collector
Aug 19, 2015 at 10:32 AM - Blake Benefield: once you get the table built then you have the file and whenever you cut your sac board you just cut the same holes out
Aug 19, 2015 at 10:34 AM - Blake Benefield: just use silicone and screws to seal the pvc to the table
Aug 19, 2015 at 10:34 AM - Mike Glass: I need to build a cut-off saw with dewalt hand grinder, anybody see any designs?
Aug 19, 2015 at 10:34 AM - Blake Benefield: you can buy the rig at northern mike

Aug 19, 2015 at 10:37 AM - Blake Benefield: Sometimes you have to buy the tool to make the tool
Aug 19, 2015 at 10:37 AM - Mike Glass: dont be tool
    Aug 19, 2015 at 10:38 AM - Blake Benefield: i like tool, they're a good band

    Aug 19, 2015 at 10:43 AM - Blake Benefield: http://www.amazon.com/Klutch-HT-115...40006312&sr=8-1&keywords=angle+grinder+holder

Aug 19, 2015 at 10:50 AM - Blake Benefield: if it takes you more than an hour to design it then it cost more than to buy it though
Aug 19, 2015 at 10:50 AM - Mike Glass: whats the joy of having a shop then.

Aug 19, 2015 at 10:57 AM - donhuevo: that was my take on it although the design seemed similar
Aug 19, 2015 at 10:57 AM - Mike Kelly: i mean it's an open source design
Aug 19, 2015 at 10:58 AM - Mike Kelly: just seems like proper attribution in the article is missing
Aug 19, 2015 at 10:58 AM - Blake Benefield: pretty much, but instead of all that elaborate framing for the base you just chop up some pvc pipe and screw it to the deck and seal the edges with silicone
Aug 19, 2015 at 10:58 AM - donhuevo: lady at work said she saw that on one of the morning shows today
Aug 19, 2015 at 10:59 AM - Blake Benefield: instead of holes drilled all over you have slots that are spaced a little more
Aug 19, 2015 at 10:59 AM - Mike Kelly: i might be a pest and request a drawing

Aug 19, 2015 at 11:16 AM - daniel871: Counterbored holes not on the same centerline as the other holes deliberate?
Aug 19, 2015 at 11:18 AM - daniel871: I like Amazon for most things but anything really specific tends to ruin their search engine for some reason.
Aug 19, 2015 at 11:19 AM - Mike Kelly: yeah their engine isn't great
    Aug 19, 2015 at 11:19 AM - daniel871: They need to steal McMaster-Carr's engine.

Aug 19, 2015 at 11:20 AM - Blake Benefield: newegg's isn't as good now as it was a few years ago
Aug 19, 2015 at 11:20 AM - Blake Benefield: their addition of authorized vendors made them remove some of it
Aug 19, 2015 at 11:20 AM - Bill Monroe: they're on the same centerline.. optical illusion I guess
    Aug 19, 2015 at 11:21 AM - jbigler1986: i'm saying on the backend. it's a nightmare
Aug 19, 2015 at 11:22 AM - jbigler1986: you can't edit products you have setup if they have been setup over 12 months ago. you have to open a ticket
    Aug 19, 2015 at 11:22 AM - daniel871: What product?
    Aug 19, 2015 at 11:23 AM - jbigler1986: lots of our products

Aug 19, 2015 at 11:29 AM - Mike Kelly: how do you envision joining the pvc at the crosses and tees
Aug 19, 2015 at 11:30 AM - daniel871: MK, that thing I posted a minute ago has Solidworks 2011 files in it you can take and modify.
Aug 19, 2015 at 11:31 AM - Mike Kelly: also that miter razor would come off a lot different if you titled it Finger Guillotine
    Aug 19, 2015 at 11:31 AM - daniel871: Bobbit Device.
Aug 19, 2015 at 11:32 AM - daniel871: Probably saying something about how old I am as I don't know if anyone even remembers that.

    Aug 19, 2015 at 11:34 AM - daniel871: Yeah, why not?
Aug 19, 2015 at 11:34 AM - Blake Benefield: use t's. i've seen it done 2 ways, i've seen a guy just build the whole thing out of pvc under the cnc and just cut both the wood and pvc together and then i've seen a guy cut the whole thing in half and use silicone to seal all the gaps and screws to hold it up
Aug 19, 2015 at 11:36 AM - Blake Benefield: Don, look up resin bonded sand molds.
Aug 19, 2015 at 11:37 AM - Blake Benefield: anything you can cnc you can cast
Aug 19, 2015 at 11:37 AM - Blake Benefield: its limited, but not terrible.
Aug 19, 2015 at 11:38 AM - daniel871: Also you can print MoldLay, build your mold around it, melt it out, etc. Or do the Lost-PLA thing if you don't want to pay for MoldLay.
    Aug 19, 2015 at 11:39 AM - donhuevo: I'll check it out
Aug 19, 2015 at 11:39 AM - Blake Benefield: yeah it doesn't matter what you use in there really, if it melts its gone once you pour 3000 degree iron in
Aug 19, 2015 at 11:40 AM - daniel871: People have been using EasyMold 33710 and either filling it with melted chocolate or doing the Field's Metal thing for trinkets.

Aug 19, 2015 at 11:44 AM - daniel871: There are some other kits on Amazon but good luck finding them with searches.
Aug 19, 2015 at 11:44 AM - daniel871: Probably have to know the compounds you need already and search for those.
Aug 19, 2015 at 11:45 AM - Blake Benefield: sand molds are easy to make, just mix and press

    Aug 19, 2015 at 12:08 PM - daniel871: PET+ is awesome to print though.
Aug 19, 2015 at 12:08 PM - Mike Glass: have you heard about a new pla filament with glass

Aug 19, 2015 at 12:20 PM - jbigler1986: one extruder jams. it's ok. just use the other
Aug 19, 2015 at 12:23 PM - Blake Benefield: so far (knock on wood) my crappy little hictop hotend hasn't jammed
Aug 19, 2015 at 12:23 PM - Blake Benefield: tonight will be the first night since purchase I haven't printed lol
Aug 19, 2015 at 12:24 PM - Blake Benefield: it is sort of tricky to get loaded when swapping filament as the old filament wants to bend out of the way and wedge in there
    Aug 19, 2015 at 12:26 PM - jbigler1986: that slut
    Aug 19, 2015 at 12:26 PM - jbigler1986: i would do bowden with it
Aug 19, 2015 at 12:28 PM - Mike Glass: Blake how far will the copper sheet stretch?
Aug 19, 2015 at 12:36 PM - daniel871: How much can you heat it?
Aug 19, 2015 at 12:40 PM - Blake Benefield: as long as you don't stress it. it will stretch until it's like cloth in theory
Aug 19, 2015 at 12:40 PM - Blake Benefield: just don't try to do too much at once
Aug 19, 2015 at 12:40 PM - Blake Benefield: anneal anneal anneal
Aug 19, 2015 at 12:41 PM - Mike Kelly: mg does your tool holder clamp down with a hinge?
Aug 19, 2015 at 12:42 PM - Blake Benefield: realistically you can hammer it out to about 32awg before you have issues with impact tears
Aug 19, 2015 at 12:43 PM - Blake Benefield: you have torches mike?
Aug 19, 2015 at 12:44 PM - Mike Glass: yes it has a hinge.
Aug 19, 2015 at 12:44 PM - Mike Glass: I have one of those big yard torches for ground clearing
Aug 19, 2015 at 12:45 PM - Blake Benefield: that the only one? that will probably work for a large piece fine
Aug 19, 2015 at 12:45 PM - Mike Glass: I have smaller ones
Aug 19, 2015 at 12:46 PM - Blake Benefield: you trying the air hammer?
Aug 19, 2015 at 12:46 PM - Mike Glass: nope, I dont have a end on it yet, but have a big piece of silcone that hardened up in a tube that works
Aug 19, 2015 at 12:47 PM - Mike Glass: well for tin foil at least..lol
Aug 19, 2015 at 12:49 PM - Mike Glass: [IMG]
Aug 19, 2015 at 12:49 PM - daniel871: Did you give the dog the carbonite treatment?
Aug 19, 2015 at 12:50 PM - Mike Glass: yep
Aug 19, 2015 at 12:51 PM - Mike Glass: think I have to redo the eyes they are messed up.
Aug 19, 2015 at 12:58 PM - Mike Kelly: got any more pictures of your mount?
Aug 19, 2015 at 12:59 PM - Blake Benefield: go deeper on the cuts if you can.
Aug 19, 2015 at 12:59 PM - Blake Benefield: the more detail the better it will look.
Aug 19, 2015 at 12:59 PM - Mike Glass: its a half inch
Aug 19, 2015 at 1:00 PM - Mike Glass: This is the mount MK http://www.thingiverse.com/thing:648883
Aug 19, 2015 at 1:00 PM - Mike Kelly: ahha, thanks
Aug 19, 2015 at 1:01 PM - Mike Glass: same one I send you I believe
Aug 19, 2015 at 1:02 PM - Mike Kelly: i assume you modified it to work with the stock mount deal?
Aug 19, 2015 at 1:02 PM - Mike Glass: not 1/2 inch the board is only 1/2, so around 3/8 on some parts.
Aug 19, 2015 at 1:02 PM - Mike Glass: Yea just joined them is all I did.
Aug 19, 2015 at 1:02 PM - Mike Kelly: still can't decide what route i want to go
Aug 19, 2015 at 1:02 PM - Mike Glass: then I made it solid within meshmixer
Aug 19, 2015 at 1:03 PM - Mike Kelly: reprinting the mount is probably the quickest
Aug 19, 2015 at 1:03 PM - Mike Kelly: oh cool
Aug 19, 2015 at 1:03 PM - Mike Glass: just cut it out with a dremel
    Aug 19, 2015 at 1:03 PM - Mike Kelly: that's option 2
Aug 19, 2015 at 1:03 PM - Mike Kelly: would look the worst but be the cheapest and easiest
Aug 19, 2015 at 1:04 PM - Mike Glass: that or just drill a hole
Aug 19, 2015 at 1:04 PM - Mike Kelly: option 3 is changing how the wire from the router is running
Aug 19, 2015 at 1:04 PM - Mike Kelly: also true...
Aug 19, 2015 at 1:04 PM - Blake Benefield: how thick is it?
    Aug 19, 2015 at 1:04 PM - Mike Kelly: 10mm
Aug 19, 2015 at 1:05 PM - Blake Benefield: abs?
Aug 19, 2015 at 1:05 PM - Mike Kelly: right
Aug 19, 2015 at 1:06 PM - Blake Benefield: can go real slow with a box cutter
Aug 19, 2015 at 1:06 PM - Blake Benefield: score, score, score some more
Aug 19, 2015 at 1:07 PM - Mike Glass: drill, drill, it wont be a pill
Aug 19, 2015 at 1:07 PM - Blake Benefield: are you wanting the hole square instead of round?
    Aug 19, 2015 at 1:07 PM - Mike Kelly: doesn't matter really
Aug 19, 2015 at 1:08 PM - Blake Benefield: what would you have done if it was printed?
    Aug 19, 2015 at 1:08 PM - Mike Kelly: http://i.imgur.com/wcQwWkI.jpg square
Aug 19, 2015 at 1:13 PM - Blake Benefield: Drill it round, then file the corners squared
Aug 19, 2015 at 1:13 PM - Mike Kelly: also a good idea
Aug 19, 2015 at 1:13 PM - Blake Benefield: its how we do large metal square holes when you don't have a waterjet or laser
Aug 19, 2015 at 1:20 PM - Printed Solid: hm. my experience there has always been that the machinists just gave me lectures on designing things that can't be made :)
Aug 19, 2015 at 1:20 PM - Printed Solid: good times.
Aug 19, 2015 at 1:21 PM - Printed Solid: lots of learning. 3D Printing is ruining the traditional machinist hazing first year engineer rituals.
Aug 19, 2015 at 1:24 PM - Blake Benefield: modern cnc probably is too.
Aug 19, 2015 at 1:25 PM - Printed Solid: Not as much. You have more design contraints.
Aug 19, 2015 at 1:25 PM - Printed Solid: still need fillets and things like that
Aug 19, 2015 at 1:27 PM - Bill Monroe: fillets? we dont need no fillets...
Aug 19, 2015 at 1:32 PM - Printed Solid: what do you mean you can't make every corner a perfectly sharp corner. solid works can!
Aug 19, 2015 at 1:38 PM - Blake Benefield: yeah, I've seen the lasers do it
Aug 19, 2015 at 1:48 PM - Mike Kelly: man it's too nice of a day to be at work
Aug 19, 2015 at 1:49 PM - Mike Glass: yes it is MK
Aug 19, 2015 at 1:49 PM - Blake Benefield: come here lol
Aug 19, 2015 at 1:50 PM - daniel871: Press thru the material with broach bits.
    Aug 19, 2015 at 1:50 PM - jbigler1986: back
Aug 19, 2015 at 1:50 PM - Mike Glass: it was cold here this morning, but now its hot out.
Aug 19, 2015 at 1:51 PM - daniel871: Or do the rotary broaching thing if you have the tooling for it.
Aug 19, 2015 at 1:52 PM - jbigler1986: Matt. did you get the stuff
Aug 19, 2015 at 1:53 PM - Blake Benefield: be a tiny rotary bit
Aug 19, 2015 at 1:53 PM - Blake Benefield: actually if you have a drill press and a press mill vise that wouldn't be that bad
Aug 19, 2015 at 1:54 PM - Blake Benefield: just chuck up a side cut bit and go slow
Aug 19, 2015 at 1:54 PM - Mike Kelly: i'll throw it on the mill at work
    Aug 19, 2015 at 1:56 PM - jbigler1986: cheater
Aug 19, 2015 at 1:56 PM - Mike Kelly: bah i'm getting stir crazy
    Aug 19, 2015 at 1:57 PM - jbigler1986: why is that
Aug 19, 2015 at 1:58 PM - Mike Kelly: just not very interested in working on these schematics
    Aug 19, 2015 at 1:59 PM - jbigler1986:
    Aug 19, 2015 at 2:01 PM - Mike Kelly: that's strange
Aug 19, 2015 at 2:01 PM - Mike Kelly: i guess good idea if you need a whole bunch of 1 design
    Aug 19, 2015 at 2:02 PM - jbigler1986: yeah
Aug 19, 2015 at 2:02 PM - jbigler1986: sounds fun making sure they are all level
    Aug 19, 2015 at 2:03 PM - Mike Kelly: oh i bet
Aug 19, 2015 at 2:08 PM - Blake Benefield: those beds that lower like that, are they just 1 stepper?
Aug 19, 2015 at 2:09 PM - Blake Benefield: I do like the x/y carriage on the extrusion
    Aug 19, 2015 at 2:09 PM - jbigler1986: i believe 2 still
Aug 19, 2015 at 2:10 PM - jbigler1986: yeah if i were to build a printer that is the way i would do it
Aug 19, 2015 at 2:13 PM - Mike Kelly: that one uses 3 lead screws

    Aug 19, 2015 at 2:23 PM - jbigler1986: interesting indeed
Aug 19, 2015 at 2:36 PM - Mike Glass: robo is the worst..haha
Aug 19, 2015 at 2:36 PM - Blake Benefield: how hard is it to change robo's?
Aug 19, 2015 at 2:37 PM - Mike Kelly: if you find a 10"x10" heater lemme know and I will tell you :)
    Aug 19, 2015 at 2:40 PM - Mike Kelly: 12v at least 150W
    Aug 19, 2015 at 2:41 PM - Edgard: can anybody help install e3d v6
Aug 19, 2015 at 2:42 PM - Blake Benefield: define help
Aug 19, 2015 at 2:43 PM - Mike Kelly: we can guide, not much labor we can offer over the internet :)
Aug 19, 2015 at 2:44 PM - Edgard: ok, how do i take the extruder from the printer ?
Aug 19, 2015 at 2:44 PM - Mike Kelly: there's 2 screws holding it in place
    Aug 19, 2015 at 2:45 PM - Mike Kelly: https://www.dropbox.com/s/zbxooxjflp44m82/Extruder and Nozzle Removal.mp4?dl=0 give this a gander
Aug 19, 2015 at 2:45 PM - Edgard: i mean the hole part
Aug 19, 2015 at 2:45 PM - Mike Kelly: the greg's wade extruder? There's M4 screws holding it in place from the underside
Aug 19, 2015 at 2:55 PM - Edgard: thank you for the video do you have one for how to remove the extruder carriage
    Aug 19, 2015 at 2:55 PM - Edgard: ?
Aug 19, 2015 at 2:55 PM - Mike Kelly: no i don't have one for that
    Aug 19, 2015 at 2:56 PM - Edgard: :(
Aug 19, 2015 at 2:56 PM - Edgard: any info or suggestion
Aug 19, 2015 at 2:57 PM - Mike Kelly: i have a picture that should help
Aug 19, 2015 at 2:57 PM - Edgard: sure anything helps
Aug 19, 2015 at 2:57 PM - Mike Kelly: [IMG]
Aug 19, 2015 at 2:58 PM - Mike Kelly: those 2 screws need to be removed
Aug 19, 2015 at 3:00 PM - Edgard: perfect thank you
Aug 19, 2015 at 3:01 PM - Mike Kelly: http://community.robo3d.com/index.p...ormation-installation-guides-and-review.3407/ did you have a chance to look over this?
Aug 19, 2015 at 3:09 PM - Blake Benefield: out of curiosity, other than heat settings, should I be changing anything else for ABS? should I slow print down?
Aug 19, 2015 at 3:10 PM - Mike Kelly: turn off cooling fan
    Aug 19, 2015 at 3:11 PM - Mike Kelly: i'd start at like 30-50mm/s
Aug 19, 2015 at 3:11 PM - Blake Benefield: i learned that last night
Aug 19, 2015 at 3:11 PM - Blake Benefield: i had it at 50mm/s i think i'll slow down on my next attemp
Aug 19, 2015 at 3:12 PM - Blake Benefield: I'm gonna have to play with Cura some more
Aug 19, 2015 at 3:12 PM - Blake Benefield: figure out where all these settings live
Aug 19, 2015 at 3:13 PM - Blake Benefield: I was worried about the parts cooler but when i checked it, it wasn't spinning. But that was during the raft so ;/
    Aug 19, 2015 at 3:13 PM - Blake Benefield: http://www.thingiverse.com/thing:810258 printing this
Aug 19, 2015 at 3:13 PM - Mike Kelly: ah
Aug 19, 2015 at 3:14 PM - Mike Kelly: long flat things like that can be tough for ABS
Aug 19, 2015 at 3:14 PM - Mike Kelly: need a really strong bond on the first layer. i usually run it a bit low and deal with elephants feet
Aug 19, 2015 at 3:14 PM - Edgard: thanks mike
Aug 19, 2015 at 3:14 PM - Blake Benefield: it failed when it tried to bridge the sd card slot. pealed up the sides
Aug 19, 2015 at 3:15 PM - Blake Benefield: low?
Aug 19, 2015 at 3:15 PM - Mike Kelly: yeah like more squished down
Aug 19, 2015 at 3:17 PM - Blake Benefield: not sure I follow
Aug 19, 2015 at 3:17 PM - Mike Glass: so low it squishes out the bottom of the bed.
Aug 19, 2015 at 3:17 PM - Blake Benefield: so raise my bed a smidge?
Aug 19, 2015 at 3:17 PM - Blake Benefield: or is there a setting I can change for that
Aug 19, 2015 at 3:18 PM - Mike Glass: no you z offset
Aug 19, 2015 at 3:19 PM - Mike Glass: in your start code in cura
Aug 19, 2015 at 3:19 PM - Blake Benefield: ok
Aug 19, 2015 at 3:21 PM - Mike Glass: M565 Z-0.70 the more negative the higher on the bed. so -0.65 would be lower
Aug 19, 2015 at 3:22 PM - Mike Kelly: does the hictop do autolevel?
Aug 19, 2015 at 3:23 PM - Mike Kelly: on a manual tram bed yeah just raise the bed up slightly
Aug 19, 2015 at 3:23 PM - Mike Glass: that code doesnt work without autolevel right?
    Aug 19, 2015 at 3:23 PM - Blake Benefield: it doesn't autolevel
Aug 19, 2015 at 3:23 PM - Mike Kelly: yeah
Aug 19, 2015 at 3:23 PM - Mike Kelly: because on a manual bed you can't go below the 0 point really
Aug 19, 2015 at 3:24 PM - Mike Glass: guess that makes sense..
Aug 19, 2015 at 3:24 PM - Mike Kelly: unless you have an optical sensor
Aug 19, 2015 at 3:25 PM - Mike Glass: only on my head
Aug 19, 2015 at 3:25 PM - Mike Glass: making a mount that screws to the top of the router to hold it steady. on revision 3..heh
Aug 19, 2015 at 3:26 PM - Mike Kelly: does it tilt?
Aug 19, 2015 at 3:26 PM - Mike Glass: no but has a little play and wanted to tighten it up, i ran fine without it but ..
Aug 19, 2015 at 3:27 PM - Mike Glass: its not like your mount that is double the size at least
Aug 19, 2015 at 3:27 PM - Mike Kelly: right
Aug 19, 2015 at 3:27 PM - Mike Kelly: i was about to ask if you thought it needed more substance
Aug 19, 2015 at 3:27 PM - Mike Glass: all and all im impressed with the speed I can do now.
Aug 19, 2015 at 3:29 PM - Mike Kelly: have you ever weighed your router
Aug 19, 2015 at 3:29 PM - Mike Glass: no why
Aug 19, 2015 at 3:30 PM - Mike Kelly: curious how it compares to mine
Aug 19, 2015 at 3:30 PM - Mike Glass: hmm think I have the specs
Aug 19, 2015 at 3:32 PM - Mike Kelly: well i assume it includes the stock base in the specs
Aug 19, 2015 at 3:35 PM - Mike Glass: looks to be around 3 lbs
Aug 19, 2015 at 3:36 PM - Mike Kelly: so just a bit lighter
Aug 19, 2015 at 3:36 PM - Mike Kelly: mine was like 3.75
Aug 19, 2015 at 3:37 PM - Mike Glass: it says 3.3 but may be with the base
Aug 19, 2015 at 3:38 PM - Mike Glass: before the z upgrade no way I would of run it.
Aug 19, 2015 at 3:40 PM - Mike Kelly: so you're pretty confident it won't have major issues?
Aug 19, 2015 at 3:40 PM - Blake Benefield: When i set up the bed to level it i auto home the printer then kill power. Then i move the print head to all 4 corner and paper resist it to level. Hopefully ill just give it more of a firm resistance instead of light i guess
Aug 19, 2015 at 3:41 PM - Blake Benefield: Of course after that i add tape before i print so
Aug 19, 2015 at 3:42 PM - Mike Kelly: if you could snap a first layer picture i could tell which way to go
Aug 19, 2015 at 3:43 PM - Mike Glass: metal will be the real test. tommorrow I get my collet
Aug 19, 2015 at 3:46 PM - Mike Kelly: yeah
Aug 19, 2015 at 3:46 PM - Mike Kelly: i'd really like to be able to mill aluminum
Aug 19, 2015 at 3:48 PM - daniel871: PEI came in today, after dinner I'll be installing it and taking pictures of how I do it.
Aug 19, 2015 at 3:50 PM - daniel871: Only thing I'm nervous about is that it's basically permanent so if it sucks I'm stuck with it.
Aug 19, 2015 at 3:51 PM - Mike Kelly: i'm sure you can remove it somehow
Aug 19, 2015 at 3:51 PM - Blake Benefield: Pei?
Aug 19, 2015 at 4:02 PM - daniel871: Probably remove bits of glass with it.
Aug 19, 2015 at 4:25 PM - jbigler1986: I dont even know what that is
Aug 19, 2015 at 4:32 PM - Blake Benefield: [IMG]
Aug 19, 2015 at 4:32 PM - Blake Benefield: Thats the first bit of the raft MK
    Aug 19, 2015 at 4:34 PM - Mike Kelly: i'd go a bit lower
Aug 19, 2015 at 4:37 PM - Bill Monroe: [IMG]
Aug 19, 2015 at 4:41 PM - jbigler1986: Looks like something a fake engineer would build bill
Aug 19, 2015 at 4:44 PM - Bill Monroe: ya, Fake, Inc.
Aug 19, 2015 at 4:44 PM - Bill Monroe: How ya doin Jusint?
Aug 19, 2015 at 4:44 PM - Bill Monroe: err Justin
Aug 19, 2015 at 4:46 PM - Mike Glass: looking good

Aug 19, 2015 at 4:51 PM - Edgard: can you connect directly the cable for the thermistor into the cable connector that comes with the printer?
Aug 19, 2015 at 4:51 PM - Mike Glass: is that a newer model colt
Aug 19, 2015 at 4:51 PM - Edgard: not sure
Aug 19, 2015 at 4:51 PM - Bill Monroe: mmm 4 years old I think by now

Aug 19, 2015 at 4:52 PM - Edgard: i got this printer 3 weeks ago
Aug 19, 2015 at 4:53 PM - Mike Glass: looked like a qr code on it not sure, the serial is way different then mine
    Aug 19, 2015 at 4:54 PM - Bill Monroe: made on 23SEP2011
Aug 19, 2015 at 4:54 PM - Bill Monroe: ya.. i dee the code, let me go scan it
Aug 19, 2015 at 4:54 PM - Bill Monroe: see
Aug 19, 2015 at 4:54 PM - Mike Glass: awe, think I got mine in 2009 or 2010 when I did the office countertops.
    Aug 19, 2015 at 4:57 PM - Bill Monroe: it reads 2610007800
    Aug 19, 2015 at 4:59 PM - jbigler1986: Good. Counting the days
    Aug 19, 2015 at 4:59 PM - Mike Glass: Sunday 15th September 2052 10:10:00 AM UTC

    Aug 19, 2015 at 5:00 PM - jbigler1986: Edgard. Yes
Aug 19, 2015 at 5:00 PM - Mike Glass: thats the unix time code..lol
Aug 19, 2015 at 5:00 PM - Bill Monroe: ok well, it's just a tiny bit off :)
Aug 19, 2015 at 5:01 PM - Mike Glass: maybe ttl time stamp
Aug 19, 2015 at 5:01 PM - Bill Monroe: yours doesnt have a code?
Aug 19, 2015 at 5:02 PM - Mike Glass: nope
Aug 19, 2015 at 5:02 PM - Bill Monroe: wow an antique.. probably made in Japan :)
Aug 19, 2015 at 5:03 PM - Mike Glass: or tawian
Aug 19, 2015 at 5:06 PM - Bill Monroe: I got one of these for my 8th birthday.. think I'll make one for my grandson..
    Aug 19, 2015 at 5:06 PM - Bill Monroe: https://www.justcollecting.com/miscellania/marx-a-copter-toys
Aug 19, 2015 at 5:14 PM - Mike Kelly: this is what I get for rushing to print a design...
Aug 19, 2015 at 5:14 PM - Mike Kelly: [IMG]
Aug 19, 2015 at 5:15 PM - Mike Kelly: motor housing rubs on the z nut trap
Aug 19, 2015 at 5:18 PM - Mike Kelly: [IMG] also i can't do my original idea of printing both sections
Aug 19, 2015 at 5:19 PM - Mike Glass: mine is about 1/4" out from that. looks like it will hit if you go any higher also.
Aug 19, 2015 at 5:25 PM - Mike Kelly: guess i should probably make a new one huh
    Aug 19, 2015 at 5:25 PM - Mike Kelly: that's a pretty major one
Aug 19, 2015 at 5:30 PM - Blake Benefield: [IMG]
Aug 19, 2015 at 5:30 PM - Mike Glass: how many times are you going to show that
Aug 19, 2015 at 5:30 PM - Blake Benefield: Thats the part 28% in about 10 minutes before it fsiled MK
Aug 19, 2015 at 5:30 PM - Blake Benefield: He didnt see it ya douch
Aug 19, 2015 at 5:33 PM - Edgard: does anybody has the fan stand that i need for the e3d v6 ?
Aug 19, 2015 at 5:34 PM - Edgard: or know where to get it
Aug 19, 2015 at 5:35 PM - Mike Kelly: hmm mg i have a question, why use the turnbuckle body when a coupling nut would be near as effective
Aug 19, 2015 at 5:36 PM - Mike Glass: can you get them that big?
    Aug 19, 2015 at 5:37 PM - Mike Glass: and for $2
Aug 19, 2015 at 5:40 PM - Mike Kelly: hmm no not that long but the ones i get from ace are like .50
Aug 19, 2015 at 5:40 PM - Mike Kelly: you have a shorter section for adjustability
    Aug 19, 2015 at 5:46 PM - Mike Kelly: or use 2
Aug 19, 2015 at 5:57 PM - Mike Glass: need one of these.
Aug 19, 2015 at 6:07 PM - Mike Kelly: lol
Aug 19, 2015 at 7:33 PM - daniel871: Ok. So far the PEI is holding the ABS with zero curling.
Aug 19, 2015 at 7:34 PM - daniel871: I'll check on it before going to work in the morning, then take some more pictures for the post about it after I get an actual finished print.
Aug 19, 2015 at 7:43 PM - nonmindo: so I have been going over the ultimaker pictorial troubleshooting guide, trying to fine tune my calibration.... I noticed in there that they are talking about print speeds around 150mm/s....I know its a diff machine, but is that attainable even with the robo? what speeds do ya'll usually print PLA at? I'm currently at 50mm/s inner/outer perimeter and 65mm/s infill on .2mm layer height....I'm gettinga little bit of oozing too on the first layers
Aug 19, 2015 at 7:44 PM - nonmindo: the perimeters print fairly nicely, the top surface is always rough like sand paper too
Aug 19, 2015 at 7:52 PM - PeterkSharma: damnit! I just broke my screen
Aug 19, 2015 at 7:52 PM - PeterkSharma: Try it out and let us know!
Aug 19, 2015 at 8:12 PM - daniel871: I wouldn't take the stock Robo above 60. The Wade extruder on the carriage is too heavy.
    Aug 19, 2015 at 8:12 PM - PeterkSharma: lol i run mine at 130
    Aug 19, 2015 at 8:13 PM - PeterkSharma: when i print with HD-glass
Aug 19, 2015 at 8:13 PM - PeterkSharma: They actually recommend like 150% speed to get the clearest print
Aug 19, 2015 at 8:20 PM - nonmindo: hmm so if i relocated the extruder to the side and took some of that weight off it could go faster, you think that would help with the print quality too overall?>
Aug 19, 2015 at 8:21 PM - Mike Glass: I run mine at 80 all the time, but have it tuned to print that speed.
Aug 19, 2015 at 8:22 PM - PeterkSharma: I am having a rough time getting mine tuned in. But I told myself 3 months.... lol
Aug 19, 2015 at 8:23 PM - Mike Glass: All I have done is the lead screws for upgrades, working on a new carriage for a v6 and bowden.
Aug 19, 2015 at 8:23 PM - PeterkSharma: do the lead screws matter that much?
Aug 19, 2015 at 8:23 PM - daniel871: The bearings on my stock Robo were all screwed up before I replaced them. If you lucked out and got good bearings you may do better.
Aug 19, 2015 at 8:23 PM - PeterkSharma: I hear people talking about that all the time
Aug 19, 2015 at 8:24 PM - PeterkSharma: I think I might have a software thing. my first cm is always perfect, and after that the layers get all messed up and dont stick correctly
Aug 19, 2015 at 8:25 PM - PeterkSharma: If fillament crackles, does that mean it has water in it?
Aug 19, 2015 at 8:25 PM - Mike Glass: I replace the rods an a bearing in 4 months of owning mine.
Aug 19, 2015 at 8:25 PM - Mike Glass: yep popping noise is bad
Aug 19, 2015 at 8:25 PM - daniel871: For Bridge/Nylon yeah. Not sure about others.
Aug 19, 2015 at 8:26 PM - daniel871: Could also be way too hot.
Aug 19, 2015 at 8:26 PM - PeterkSharma: hmmm... I'll cool it down and see how the rest of this messed up print goes
Aug 19, 2015 at 8:27 PM - daniel871: I'm talking so hot the filament is scorching.
Aug 19, 2015 at 8:27 PM - PeterkSharma: I hear PLA likes water as well
Aug 19, 2015 at 8:28 PM - PeterkSharma: oh no, its not like that at all
    Aug 19, 2015 at 8:28 PM - daniel871: Hm.
Aug 19, 2015 at 8:29 PM - daniel871: Is the crackling coming from the nozzle or the wade gears clicking?
    Aug 19, 2015 at 8:31 PM - PeterkSharma: nozzle
Aug 19, 2015 at 8:31 PM - PeterkSharma: its the fillament
Aug 19, 2015 at 8:31 PM - PeterkSharma: I'm going to try another print and see if I cant fix it maybe the gcode?
Aug 19, 2015 at 8:35 PM - daniel871: I've never heard popping filament that wasn't an attempt to print Nylon so I'm drawing a blank.
Aug 19, 2015 at 8:38 PM - nonmindo: hmm i wonder if maybe i need to replace the bearings then....it was a factory refurb, my x axis makes some odd noises(not the "resonance" sound of skipping belt)... the Z squealed really bad when i got it, so i applied some "tube loob" that they included on the z drive screws, and then to the x carriage rods, the sound got worse on the x moves after lubing

Aug 19, 2015 at 9:08 PM - Magnumr: upgraded comp to win 10 and now i have to re figure out my printer software.. matter control is so different from the one i had installed prior
Aug 19, 2015 at 9:29 PM - nonmindo: does your old program not work with win10?
Aug 19, 2015 at 9:30 PM - nonmindo: I'm running W10 as well, but i got the printer after installing W10..... so I have the latest versions of MC, Repetier, Cura, Meshmixer, 123d design, and fusion 360 (havent messed with anything but MC yet)
Aug 19, 2015 at 10:03 PM - Magnumr: i redownload MC and there is no Robo 3d Beta setting in it

Aug 20, 2015 at 6:25 AM - jbigler1986: Well I have plenty of evidence so it shouldn't be to difficult
Aug 20, 2015 at 6:26 AM - JeffTheMess: hope if its enough (court=women sympathy)
Aug 20, 2015 at 6:26 AM - daniel871: Meeting with my insurance company's lawyers later today about the bullshit I'm dealing with.
Aug 20, 2015 at 6:27 AM - jbigler1986: well things are starting to even out. plus my judge likes dads I guess
Aug 20, 2015 at 6:27 AM - Bill Monroe: I'm meeting with my lawyer today... for lunch :)
Aug 20, 2015 at 6:27 AM - jbigler1986: GL daniel. Hopefully you get good news
Aug 20, 2015 at 6:27 AM - daniel871: All lawyers can get their own lunch. :crossarms:
    Aug 20, 2015 at 6:28 AM - daniel871: What's the difference between a hooker and a lawyer?
    Aug 20, 2015 at 6:28 AM - daniel871: A hooker won't fuck you if you're dead.
    Aug 20, 2015 at 6:29 AM - jbigler1986: some probably will
Aug 20, 2015 at 6:30 AM - daniel871: Yeah, another version of that punchline is "A hooker will stop fucking you if you die."
Aug 20, 2015 at 6:32 AM - Bill Monroe: my lawyers have always treated me well
Aug 20, 2015 at 6:33 AM - daniel871: Probably has to do with being able to afford more than one.
Aug 20, 2015 at 6:33 AM - jbigler1986: mine was shit last year. current one is pretty awesome
Aug 20, 2015 at 6:36 AM - Bill Monroe: i have three, but in different fields.. only use one at a time
Aug 20, 2015 at 6:36 AM - JeffTheMess: what kind of screws hold the hotend in its place?
Aug 20, 2015 at 6:36 AM - Bill Monroe: well technically I guess I only have 2 now.. my family law lawyer is now a judge
    Aug 20, 2015 at 6:43 AM - daniel871: Not sure Jeff.
Aug 20, 2015 at 6:43 AM - daniel871: I think they might be called off in the E3D v6 thread, hang on.
Aug 20, 2015 at 6:44 AM - daniel871: Nope, just a "remove these two screws to remove the hotend" image.
Aug 20, 2015 at 6:45 AM - JeffTheMess: maybe MK knows , ill ask him when he gets one ( i think I stripped mines  )
Aug 20, 2015 at 6:46 AM - daniel871: Did Robo ever finish the design for their hinged hotend mount (swing the hinged plate out, hotend drops, swing it back in to hold the hotend)?
    Aug 20, 2015 at 6:53 AM - jbigler1986: i think they are M3x50
    Aug 20, 2015 at 6:53 AM - jbigler1986: Maybe M3 x 30
    Aug 20, 2015 at 6:54 AM - jbigler1986: i think 30. i think 50 is for the idler
Aug 20, 2015 at 6:54 AM - JeffTheMess: yeah, do I need to thread the v6 before hand? no, right?
    Aug 20, 2015 at 6:57 AM - jbigler1986: nope
Aug 20, 2015 at 6:57 AM - JeffTheMess: nice, i hope i get my stud today
Aug 20, 2015 at 7:06 AM - daniel871: Nah, the screws will thread it for you as you tighten it up.
Aug 20, 2015 at 7:07 AM - JeffTheMess: dont worry ill blame all of you if I fail lol :) jk
    Aug 20, 2015 at 7:10 AM - jbigler1986: ok
Aug 20, 2015 at 7:12 AM - daniel871: Yeah, I'm going to have to replace the v6 thermistors with the m3 stud thermistors.
    Aug 20, 2015 at 7:12 AM - jbigler1986: you guys are funny
    Aug 20, 2015 at 7:12 AM - Blake Benefield: http://www.thingiverse.com/thing:426409
Aug 20, 2015 at 7:13 AM - daniel871: It got farther along last night, but still failed before finishing the print due to a temp fall error. I don't see any obvious loose wires or anything. And I can wiggle them around while the power is on without any mintemp errors popping up, but when a long print actually runs it fails when I go away to do something else.
Aug 20, 2015 at 7:13 AM - Blake Benefield: that sucks
Aug 20, 2015 at 7:14 AM - daniel871: Should've known better and put them on to start with.
Aug 20, 2015 at 7:15 AM - daniel871: I used the screw on thermistor with the volcano before I went dual v6 bowden so I know what to do. I just figured I'd put the v6 together with the parts it came with for both nozzles and naturally that didn't work.
Aug 20, 2015 at 7:18 AM - jbigler1986: check and make sure that the screw holding the thermistor in place isn't to tight. I would get that sometimes when I had the screw to tight and it was shorting it basically
Aug 20, 2015 at 7:18 AM - daniel871: Ah well, now I get to test the v2 carriage removal bits to see if it's actually easier than dealing with the stock carriage or not.
Aug 20, 2015 at 7:21 AM - daniel871: Take the whole hotend platform off and pull it out where I can get at the heater blocks more easily.
Aug 20, 2015 at 7:22 AM - jbigler1986: Robo at work will be here Monday. I'm spoiled at work
Aug 20, 2015 at 7:23 AM - daniel871: On the plus side, the PEI sheet kept the ABS I was printing perfectly flat on the bed. So once I figure get the thermistors fixed I should be in business to do pretty much whatever I want.
Aug 20, 2015 at 7:24 AM - Blake Benefield: wtf is pei
Aug 20, 2015 at 7:24 AM - Blake Benefield: perf?
    Aug 20, 2015 at 7:24 AM - daniel871: Ultem 1000 is a brand name for it.
Aug 20, 2015 at 7:24 AM - daniel871: Or another material name anyway.
Aug 20, 2015 at 7:24 AM - jbigler1986: idk what it is either
Aug 20, 2015 at 7:25 AM - Blake Benefield: Ok, so it's a resin made plastic
    Aug 20, 2015 at 7:25 AM - daniel871: Yeah.
Aug 20, 2015 at 7:25 AM - daniel871: Working on a post in the Mods/Upgrades subforum right now.
Aug 20, 2015 at 7:26 AM - jbigler1986: couldn't you just use binder clips to hold it on?
Aug 20, 2015 at 7:26 AM - daniel871: You could if you got a really thick sheet of it.
Aug 20, 2015 at 7:26 AM - Blake Benefield: mine came with perf board but i haven't used it yet
Aug 20, 2015 at 7:27 AM - Blake Benefield: had a hard enough time prying it off the masking tape/hairspray

Aug 20, 2015 at 7:29 AM - Blake Benefield: whyssat?
Aug 20, 2015 at 7:30 AM - jbigler1986: it's a bitch to get the prints off of it. Will almost ruin the bottom of the print
Aug 20, 2015 at 7:36 AM - Mike Kelly: morning
Aug 20, 2015 at 7:37 AM - JeffTheMess: hey mike
Aug 20, 2015 at 7:38 AM - Mike Kelly: how are things
Aug 20, 2015 at 7:39 AM - Blake Benefield: peachy

    Aug 20, 2015 at 7:42 AM - Mike Kelly: oh can't complain
Aug 20, 2015 at 7:42 AM - JeffTheMess: Hey Mike, just to confirm the screws holding the hotend what is it?
Aug 20, 2015 at 7:43 AM - Mike Kelly: i'm at home for now, we're getting our carpets cleaned
Aug 20, 2015 at 7:43 AM - Mike Kelly: you mean like size? M3-25mm or #4-1"
Aug 20, 2015 at 7:43 AM - JeffTheMess: yup thanks
Aug 20, 2015 at 7:45 AM - Blake Benefield: just ordered some clear trans pla and some black pla from amazon
Aug 20, 2015 at 7:46 AM - daniel871: Hopefully you actually get PLA and not ABS
Aug 20, 2015 at 7:46 AM - Blake Benefield: indeed.
Aug 20, 2015 at 7:46 AM - daniel871: Also, PEI thread started, will probably flesh it out more as I get some stuff done with it.
Aug 20, 2015 at 7:46 AM - Blake Benefield: black is hatchbox because it was only $1 more than justpla, clear trans is justpla

Aug 20, 2015 at 7:51 AM - Mike Kelly: i wish youtube had an option to take a video and convert it to a timelapse
Aug 20, 2015 at 7:52 AM - daniel871: My application of it looks like shit, but this is amateur hour any way. I'm sure MK/MG will have prettier pictures whenever one of them does it (can't remember who was thinking about doing it).
Aug 20, 2015 at 7:52 AM - JeffTheMess: poeple can slow it down right
Aug 20, 2015 at 7:52 AM - Mike Kelly: more that you didn't post any print pictures!
    Aug 20, 2015 at 7:53 AM - daniel871: I'll post pictures once I get some prints actually finished! :p
    Aug 20, 2015 at 7:53 AM - daniel871: Stupid thermistor errors.
Aug 20, 2015 at 7:53 AM - daniel871: I'm also wondering if I'm pushing the limits of the power supply with 2 40w heaters and the 2 extruders.
Aug 20, 2015 at 7:54 AM - Mike Kelly: lol no
Aug 20, 2015 at 7:54 AM - Mike Kelly: though the 5A circuit on the ramps doesn't allow for much beyond that
Aug 20, 2015 at 7:54 AM - daniel871: What is the upper limit anyway?
Aug 20, 2015 at 7:55 AM - Mike Kelly: so don't run the RRD fan extender 12v input from the ramps after the polyfuse
Aug 20, 2015 at 7:55 AM - Mike Kelly: the stock printer pulls maybe 15A at max load
    Aug 20, 2015 at 7:55 AM - Mike Kelly: out of a 30A psu
Aug 20, 2015 at 7:55 AM - daniel871: Say that again about the fan extender?
Aug 20, 2015 at 7:56 AM - Blake Benefield: what size is the actual bed on the robo?
    Aug 20, 2015 at 7:56 AM - daniel871: Don't use it?
Aug 20, 2015 at 7:56 AM - Mike Kelly: no like so the fan extender requires a 12v input
Aug 20, 2015 at 7:56 AM - daniel871: Yeah, but it just plugs into the board.
Aug 20, 2015 at 7:56 AM - Mike Kelly: there's a picture out there that shows pulling the power from the ramps board pin, usually the ramps cooling fan plugs in here
Aug 20, 2015 at 7:57 AM - Mike Kelly: but you need to pull it off from outside the ramps, so like the input terminals
    Aug 20, 2015 at 7:57 AM - daniel871:
Aug 20, 2015 at 7:58 AM - daniel871: I'm leaning away from ever doing PLA again any way, is there any reason to even have parts fans if I'm doing ABS/Nylons/etc.
Aug 20, 2015 at 7:58 AM - Mike Kelly: not really no
Aug 20, 2015 at 7:59 AM - Mike Kelly: i found XT printed better with a fan
Aug 20, 2015 at 7:59 AM - Mike Kelly: but YMMV
Aug 20, 2015 at 8:00 AM - daniel871: I only have the one spool of XT to play with eventually, so I may go back and fiddle with making sure the RRD fan extender is done properly later.
Aug 20, 2015 at 8:01 AM - Mike Kelly: yeah it's not too bad once you get into it
Aug 20, 2015 at 8:01 AM - Mike Kelly: took me a while to figure out
Aug 20, 2015 at 8:02 AM - daniel871: Any clogs or just prints curling away everywhere?
Aug 20, 2015 at 8:02 AM - Mike Kelly: it was just kinda soft
Aug 20, 2015 at 8:02 AM - daniel871: So stripping on the gear?
Aug 20, 2015 at 8:02 AM - Mike Kelly: no like the print was
Aug 20, 2015 at 8:03 AM - Mike Kelly: so you needed the fan to harden the print
Aug 20, 2015 at 8:03 AM - Mike Kelly: for lack of better words
    Aug 20, 2015 at 8:03 AM - daniel871: Ah.
Aug 20, 2015 at 8:05 AM - daniel871: Naturally, the stuff I printed in GlowFill that were thin things like lithophanes and vases cast off a pretty fair amount of light in the shop.
    Aug 20, 2015 at 8:05 AM - daniel871: I should take some pics.
Aug 20, 2015 at 8:05 AM - Mike Kelly: totally
Aug 20, 2015 at 8:06 AM - Mike Kelly: i've always heard mixed things about gitd
Aug 20, 2015 at 8:07 AM - daniel871: Bad thing about the lithophane is you have to actually be close to it to see the image in it when it's glowing. The vase/bowl looks nice though.
Aug 20, 2015 at 8:07 AM - daniel871: They've been sitting on top of my cabinet in the shop for a few weeks now and I hadn't thought anything of them until I turned off the lights last night and the glow caught my eye.
Aug 20, 2015 at 8:09 AM - daniel871: So I may be fixing the fan setup sooner than later now that I'm thinking about it, damnit.
Aug 20, 2015 at 8:09 AM - Mike Kelly: what i want to do is make a gitd nub for my phone charger to do two things, prevent the cord from breaking and make it easier to find the end
Aug 20, 2015 at 8:09 AM - Mike Kelly: it's not too bad with some guidance
Aug 20, 2015 at 8:09 AM - Mike Kelly: just plug a few things in and you're done
Aug 20, 2015 at 8:09 AM - daniel871: So far it looks like the gitd works better on thin-walled objects than solid objects.
Aug 20, 2015 at 8:09 AM - Mike Kelly: hmm interesting
Aug 20, 2015 at 8:10 AM - Mike Kelly: you can also set it up to control the extruder cooling fan, i had it only cooling my second extruder when it was hot
Aug 20, 2015 at 8:10 AM - Mike Kelly: but with the chimera i just have one fan
Aug 20, 2015 at 8:10 AM - daniel871: I'm not going that far. Both my hotend fans are on the same wires.
Aug 20, 2015 at 8:10 AM - daniel871: Same with the part fans.
Aug 20, 2015 at 8:10 AM - daniel871: Just need to get them plugged into the right spot.
Aug 20, 2015 at 8:11 AM - daniel871: I think the reason thin-walled things work better is because the light cannot penetrate to the center of larger solid objects.
Aug 20, 2015 at 8:11 AM - Mike Kelly: you could control both hotend fans from it then
Aug 20, 2015 at 8:12 AM - jbigler1986: you got the fan extender right?
Aug 20, 2015 at 8:12 AM - Mike Kelly: then when either extruder is on it'll turn on at 50C
Aug 20, 2015 at 8:12 AM - daniel871: Yeah, but it sounds like it isn't really as simple as plug and play. It's plugged in and I've tried all of the various pin locations for the part fans but they don't come on.
Aug 20, 2015 at 8:13 AM - daniel871: MK made it sound like I've got to catch some extra power from somewhere for it to work.
    Aug 20, 2015 at 8:14 AM - jbigler1986: i doubt it
Aug 20, 2015 at 8:14 AM - Mike Kelly: yeah it's voltage independant
Aug 20, 2015 at 8:14 AM - Mike Kelly: so you can run any number of voltages is the point
    Aug 20, 2015 at 8:14 AM - Mike Kelly: 5v, 12v, 24v, etc
    Aug 20, 2015 at 8:15 AM - jbigler1986: 120?
Aug 20, 2015 at 8:15 AM - Mike Kelly: hmm no
    Aug 20, 2015 at 8:15 AM - jbigler1986: :D
    Aug 20, 2015 at 8:15 AM - Mike Kelly: it's a DC relay
    Aug 20, 2015 at 8:15 AM - jbigler1986: i was just kidding
Aug 20, 2015 at 8:15 AM - daniel871: Is this the image, MK? [IMG]
    Aug 20, 2015 at 8:16 AM - daniel871: Hang on, rehosting.
    Aug 20, 2015 at 8:16 AM - Mike Kelly: http://3dprint.com/89919/shuty-hybrid-3d-printed-pistol/ oh joy
    Aug 20, 2015 at 8:16 AM - daniel871: [IMG]
Aug 20, 2015 at 8:17 AM - daniel871: What I'm lacking is that wire running from where the case fan normally plugs in to the extender.
Aug 20, 2015 at 8:17 AM - daniel871: That's from the GEETECH wiki on how to install it.
Aug 20, 2015 at 8:17 AM - daniel871: Should have looked that up I guess.
Aug 20, 2015 at 8:21 AM - daniel871: I like how that gun almost looks like it is aiming back at the operator.
    Aug 20, 2015 at 8:23 AM - jbigler1986: so make the wire
    Aug 20, 2015 at 8:23 AM - jbigler1986: easy
Aug 20, 2015 at 8:23 AM - Blake Benefield: I don't really get the problem with 3D printed guns. I have no desire to make one mind you, but i just don't see it as a big deal really
    Aug 20, 2015 at 8:24 AM - jbigler1986: nor do i

Aug 20, 2015 at 8:24 AM - daniel871: Seems like a pretty easy way to keep the lunatics tied up just trying to get them to print.
Aug 20, 2015 at 8:24 AM - daniel871: "Why does this makerbot keep clogging while printing my bolt carrier group?!"
Aug 20, 2015 at 8:25 AM - Blake Benefield: look up mac-9 schematics... its 2 pieces of channel with some groves cut in it.
    Aug 20, 2015 at 8:25 AM - Blake Benefield: https://www.google.com/search?q=mac...m5TYBA#imgrc=EPAOOyrJlI2hjM:&usg=__kBscodGpy7
Aug 20, 2015 at 8:26 AM - daniel871: I'm just saying that the cost of buying a printer and then the filament required to make functional parts will stop most of the people that would do it before they start.
Aug 20, 2015 at 8:27 AM - daniel871: Then you'd have those that can afford it, but aren't intelligent enough to figure out how to work the printer.
Aug 20, 2015 at 8:27 AM - daniel871: Just look at how many posts we get from people that can't get a cube printed.
Aug 20, 2015 at 8:28 AM - daniel871: So yeah, I'm agreeing it isn't a big deal. There will be a lot of posturing in Congress because it's an election year, but nothing will ever happen.
    Aug 20, 2015 at 8:28 AM - daniel871: Election cycle rather.
Aug 20, 2015 at 8:29 AM - daniel871: Kind of like how I'm still waiting for Obama to take my guns away in spite of all the hair raising panic about a black man in the white house.
Aug 20, 2015 at 8:30 AM - daniel871: President and Congress couldn't even pass a budget without grinding everything to a halt, how could they possibly seize all of everyone's guns?
Aug 20, 2015 at 8:31 AM - Blake Benefield: I don't see them attempting to seize them, but i do see them continuing to ban certain types etc
Aug 20, 2015 at 8:31 AM - daniel871: Banning cosmetic features without actually affecting the functional bits will always be hilarious though.
Aug 20, 2015 at 8:31 AM - Blake Benefield: its just dumb
Aug 20, 2015 at 8:31 AM - Blake Benefield: its like the brady laws from the 90s
Aug 20, 2015 at 8:32 AM - daniel871: I like how they get all upset about "assault weapons" and ignore joe blow deer hunting rifle rounds which will defeat anything short of the trauma plates in high end body armor.
Aug 20, 2015 at 8:33 AM - Blake Benefield: it'll do that if ya tip them
Aug 20, 2015 at 8:33 AM - daniel871: Or just up the caliber a little more, or just use fully jacketed rounds or surplus ammo.
Aug 20, 2015 at 8:34 AM - Blake Benefield: I've got some stainless jacketed .308 surplus
    Aug 20, 2015 at 8:34 AM - daniel871: GP-11 is pretty sweet, too.
    Aug 20, 2015 at 8:35 AM - daniel871: 7mm Swiss.
    Aug 20, 2015 at 8:35 AM - daniel871: Same thign.
Aug 20, 2015 at 8:36 AM - Blake Benefield: and they forget that 7.62x51 is the same cartridge as .308 winchester... only the .308 is a hotter shell with more impact velocity
    Aug 20, 2015 at 8:36 AM - daniel871: 7.62x54R is a lot of fun as well.
Aug 20, 2015 at 8:36 AM - daniel871: Though I think that has more to do with the rifle it comes out of than the bullet itself.
Aug 20, 2015 at 8:37 AM - daniel871: The carbine I have make a pretty hilarious fireball when shooting that caliber.
Aug 20, 2015 at 8:37 AM - daniel871: Spurt of fire out the barrel is as long as the rifle itself.
Aug 20, 2015 at 8:39 AM - Blake Benefield: I've got a custom barrel for my sig to shoot .22TCM thats fun
Aug 20, 2015 at 8:40 AM - Mike Kelly: 3d printed guns are just like a mole on a model. serves no purpose other than to slightly skew their image
Aug 20, 2015 at 8:42 AM - Mike Kelly: but once the media finds it they have a field day with it
Aug 20, 2015 at 8:44 AM - daniel871: As long as the Open Carry morons stay away from it it'll be ok.
Aug 20, 2015 at 8:44 AM - daniel871: Stupid fuckers walking around with their finger in the trigger guard of their AR.
Aug 20, 2015 at 8:45 AM - Mike Kelly: people just want to make a point
    Aug 20, 2015 at 8:46 AM - Mike Kelly: and they're stupid
Aug 20, 2015 at 8:46 AM - daniel871: I just wish the police would react to the fat neckbeard with a rifle the way they'd react if it was a black guy.
Aug 20, 2015 at 8:47 AM - jbigler1986: MK where did the link go? I didn't finish it and I closed the tab
    Aug 20, 2015 at 8:48 AM - jbigler1986: NVM.
Aug 20, 2015 at 8:48 AM - Mike Kelly: what link
    Aug 20, 2015 at 8:48 AM - daniel871: http://3dprint.com/89919/shuty-hybrid-3d-printed-pistol/
    Aug 20, 2015 at 8:48 AM - jbigler1986: i'm blind
    Aug 20, 2015 at 8:48 AM - daniel871: That one?
Aug 20, 2015 at 8:48 AM - daniel871: Still chuckling at Deez Nuts on the news with 9% on the polls.
Aug 20, 2015 at 8:48 AM - Bill Monroe: How do you get an old lady to say the F word?
    Aug 20, 2015 at 8:49 AM - daniel871: Say "Bingo"
Aug 20, 2015 at 8:49 AM - Bill Monroe: dont have many freinds, huh?
    Aug 20, 2015 at 8:49 AM - Bill Monroe: :)
Aug 20, 2015 at 8:50 AM - jbigler1986: I would not trust the threaded screw on the back
Aug 20, 2015 at 8:50 AM - jbigler1986: Bill, what are you up to today
    Aug 20, 2015 at 8:50 AM - daniel871: Nah, I've just known that joke since the 80s. :p
Aug 20, 2015 at 8:51 AM - Bill Monroe: eh.. xformer blew at my office so I'm working at my lab for now
Aug 20, 2015 at 8:51 AM - Bill Monroe: how you?
Aug 20, 2015 at 8:51 AM - Mike Kelly: anyone ever see a corpse flower? is it worth it
    Aug 20, 2015 at 8:52 AM - daniel871: Yes and No.
Aug 20, 2015 at 8:54 AM - daniel871: It was a pretty funny gag in Dennis the Menace with Walter Matthau though.
Aug 20, 2015 at 8:55 AM - Mike Kelly: yeah that was great
Aug 20, 2015 at 8:55 AM - jbigler1986: I have not seen one. It would be cool though
    Aug 20, 2015 at 8:55 AM - jbigler1986: Did it bloom yet?
Aug 20, 2015 at 8:56 AM - Mike Kelly: yeah yesterday i think
Aug 20, 2015 at 8:56 AM - daniel871: All that "All these years cultivating this flower, I won't live long enough to see it bloom again" stuff and he gets distracted by a disaster right as it's blooming, he turns around and it's dead and wilted.
Aug 20, 2015 at 8:57 AM - Mike Kelly: plants are weird
Aug 20, 2015 at 8:57 AM - daniel871: Christopher Lloyd was weird in that film, too.
Aug 20, 2015 at 8:59 AM - Mike Kelly: this tastes like paint
Aug 20, 2015 at 8:59 AM - jbigler1986: but he ate beans with a knife
    Aug 20, 2015 at 8:59 AM - daniel871: *blows out fire with a fart*
    Aug 20, 2015 at 9:00 AM - jbigler1986: that was a funny movie
Aug 20, 2015 at 9:01 AM - Blake Benefield: bbl
Aug 20, 2015 at 9:01 AM - daniel871: Getting a burning marshmallow stuck to your forehead would hurt like hell.
Aug 20, 2015 at 9:02 AM - jbigler1986: thinking i should have had work order the hictop just so i can fiddle with it
    Aug 20, 2015 at 9:02 AM - jbigler1986: like napalm
Aug 20, 2015 at 9:02 AM - Mike Kelly: that would be super painful
Aug 20, 2015 at 9:03 AM - daniel871: Literally the last thing that happened to Matthau's character before the credits rolled.
Aug 20, 2015 at 9:03 AM - jbigler1986: hey. it's the 20th. did robo get the lead screws yet
    Aug 20, 2015 at 9:03 AM - daniel871: You're kidding, right?
Aug 20, 2015 at 9:03 AM - daniel871: All of those are going into the R1 Plus.
    Aug 20, 2015 at 9:03 AM - daniel871: :p
Aug 20, 2015 at 9:03 AM - Mike Kelly: 25th i think is the new date
Aug 20, 2015 at 9:04 AM - jbigler1986: also I wonder if they would send me a pair since I kinda just bought another. although my work paid for it
    Aug 20, 2015 at 9:04 AM - Mike Kelly: http://www.robo3d.com/products/lead-screw-upgrade-kit
    Aug 20, 2015 at 9:04 AM - daniel871: LOL
    Aug 20, 2015 at 9:04 AM - jbigler1986: i can always hope. LOL
Aug 20, 2015 at 9:05 AM - daniel871: They've stopped doing a lot of warranty stuff to hear the complaints on FB in the local 3d printer group about it.
Aug 20, 2015 at 9:05 AM - daniel871: Probably going to be a "with the release of the R1 Plus, we will no longer be supporting the R1"
Aug 20, 2015 at 9:05 AM - jbigler1986: what are people complaining about on there?
    Aug 20, 2015 at 9:05 AM - jbigler1986: i don't need their support. :D
Aug 20, 2015 at 9:06 AM - daniel871: Cracked beds, broken clips, leaking nozzles, bad thermistors, cracked base plate where the Y & Z axis steppers are bolted in.
Aug 20, 2015 at 9:06 AM - jbigler1986: leaking nozzles is an easy fix. i'm checking that first thing. along with than damn clip
Aug 20, 2015 at 9:07 AM - daniel871: And lots of follow up posts where they had to pay to get replacement parts.
Aug 20, 2015 at 9:07 AM - daniel871: No boot on the heater block, too, in a couple cases, which is hilarious.
Aug 20, 2015 at 9:07 AM - jbigler1986: I wouldn't complain on that. Just get some kapton tape
Aug 20, 2015 at 9:08 AM - daniel871: Keep in mind the group I'm talking about here.
Aug 20, 2015 at 9:08 AM - daniel871: Lots of posts about the Robo mixed in with Makerbot complaints and a handful of delta kits being built.
Aug 20, 2015 at 9:09 AM - jbigler1986: If it wasn't for this forum a lot of people would have returned the robo. Also Robo would have receive a lot more calls and emails for support
Aug 20, 2015 at 9:09 AM - daniel871: And smug bastards with their Ultimaker 2s being all "should have saved up for what I'm using".
Aug 20, 2015 at 9:09 AM - Mike Kelly: that new front end phone line is amazing though
Aug 20, 2015 at 9:09 AM - Mike Kelly: the number of basic questions dropped off significantly now that people have someone to call
    Aug 20, 2015 at 9:09 AM - jbigler1986: That is has
Aug 20, 2015 at 9:10 AM - jbigler1986: OMG. Spelling is off today
Aug 20, 2015 at 9:10 AM - Harry: Hey All
Aug 20, 2015 at 9:10 AM - Mike Kelly: morning
Aug 20, 2015 at 9:11 AM - jbigler1986: My boss this morning was like "Hey we need a new one of these parts. Can you print it for us?" I said my wife has mine. "Hey can we just buy a printer" That's how that convo went. Lol

Aug 20, 2015 at 9:11 AM - Mike Kelly: so did they say yes?
Aug 20, 2015 at 9:12 AM - Braydon ROBO 3D: Everyone, we are still 100% supporting the R1
Aug 20, 2015 at 9:12 AM - jbigler1986: Yeah. They already ordered it
Aug 20, 2015 at 9:12 AM - Braydon ROBO 3D: it is essentially very close to the same machine with a few upgrades
Aug 20, 2015 at 9:12 AM - Braydon ROBO 3D: we never mentioned anything about not supporting it
Aug 20, 2015 at 9:12 AM - Braydon ROBO 3D: just so everyone is aware
Aug 20, 2015 at 9:13 AM - jbigler1986: I just got my work to buy a R1. Any chance of hooking us up with the lead screws since we needed it now and couldn't wait for the plus?
Aug 20, 2015 at 9:14 AM - Harry: JB when did your work buy an R1?
    Aug 20, 2015 at 9:14 AM - jbigler1986: This morning
Aug 20, 2015 at 9:14 AM - Harry: From the ROBO site?
    Aug 20, 2015 at 9:14 AM - jbigler1986: from Amazon
Aug 20, 2015 at 9:14 AM - daniel871: For the Prime Shipping right?
    Aug 20, 2015 at 9:15 AM - jbigler1986: yeah
Aug 20, 2015 at 9:16 AM - daniel871: Hopefully since it's a business they'll do better than they did to the first delivery attempt when I got mine, lol.
Aug 20, 2015 at 9:16 AM - daniel871: Left the box out in a pouring thunderstorm without any plastic cover.
Aug 20, 2015 at 9:16 AM - jbigler1986: It will come to our warehouse
Aug 20, 2015 at 9:16 AM - daniel871: (At least Amazon was good for sending another one immediately while the first one was sent back)
Aug 20, 2015 at 9:19 AM - daniel871: I'm thinking once I get all the kinks ironed out and get my modified Robo running like I want I'll move on to getting a delta kit.
Aug 20, 2015 at 9:20 AM - daniel871: Assuming I don't get so hilariously screwed over this afternoon that I can afford to do anything.
Aug 20, 2015 at 9:20 AM - jbigler1986: I just need to get my printer back
Aug 20, 2015 at 9:21 AM - jbigler1986: just needed to print the dual carriage is all i had left
Aug 20, 2015 at 9:29 AM - Mike Kelly: i'm gonna miss the summer but this falls gonna be great
Aug 20, 2015 at 9:31 AM - daniel871: I am definitely ready for cooler weather.
Aug 20, 2015 at 9:32 AM - daniel871: Remind me of this when the ice storms are wrecking traffic and everything else this winter.
Aug 20, 2015 at 9:33 AM - Mike Kelly: haha i won't be able to becuase your power will be out :)
    Aug 20, 2015 at 9:34 AM - daniel871: Yeah. :/
Aug 20, 2015 at 9:37 AM - daniel871: Well, time to head off to see how badly I'm getting screwed.

Aug 20, 2015 at 10:22 AM - donhuevo: man, I remember spending hours reprinting those glasses to get them just right
Aug 20, 2015 at 10:23 AM - Mike Glass: you bedazzled them also?
    Aug 20, 2015 at 10:23 AM - donhuevo: yes I did

Aug 20, 2015 at 10:30 AM - Mike Glass: did you see the heat analysis on the robo bed?
    Aug 20, 2015 at 10:30 AM - donhuevo: do I want to?
Aug 20, 2015 at 10:30 AM - Mike Glass: no, it really stinks
Aug 20, 2015 at 10:31 AM - Mike Glass: no wonder why poeple have issues with warping
    Aug 20, 2015 at 10:32 AM - donhuevo: so that's why I hate ABfnS
Aug 20, 2015 at 10:33 AM - Mike Glass: its fine if you have it in the very center of bed, but thats about it
Aug 20, 2015 at 10:34 AM - donhuevo: so who has the best silicone heater?

Aug 20, 2015 at 10:40 AM - Mike Kelly: why is it so hard to find a 228 or 254
    Aug 20, 2015 at 10:40 AM - Mike Glass: I know, dammit
Aug 20, 2015 at 10:51 AM - jbigler1986: idk. that thing loos awesome though

Aug 20, 2015 at 10:55 AM - Mike Kelly: what
Aug 20, 2015 at 10:57 AM - Blake Benefield: MK, I used to have a script for that a long time ago, you loaded it on a website and then it emailed me a list at a set time of anything matching my description. just items though, price point was irrelevant to it
Aug 20, 2015 at 11:00 AM - Mike Kelly: ah

Aug 20, 2015 at 11:06 AM - Blake Benefield: anyone see whatage? only amps?
    Aug 20, 2015 at 11:06 AM - Mike Kelly: 18A would be 220W
Aug 20, 2015 at 11:07 AM - Mike Kelly: i wonder what the thickness is
    Aug 20, 2015 at 11:09 AM - Blake Benefield: 12" is 3mm
    Aug 20, 2015 at 11:09 AM - Blake Benefield: dunno on 10

Aug 20, 2015 at 11:09 AM - donhuevo: heaters are just fancy resistors. why couldn't you supply it 24V?
    Aug 20, 2015 at 11:10 AM - Mike Kelly: Power = V^2*R
Aug 20, 2015 at 11:11 AM - Mike Kelly: my UPS already cried from the 400W heater i'm running
Aug 20, 2015 at 11:11 AM - Mike Glass: Mike have you seen Izzy's builds lately
Aug 20, 2015 at 11:11 AM - Mike Glass: this is great
Aug 20, 2015 at 11:11 AM - Mike Kelly: and i'm running that at 1/4 power on at 50% capacity...
Aug 20, 2015 at 11:11 AM - Mike Kelly: i have not seen that
Aug 20, 2015 at 11:12 AM - Mike Kelly: i like his tool rack
Aug 20, 2015 at 11:12 AM - Mike Kelly: that dino is ridiculous
Aug 20, 2015 at 11:14 AM - Mike Glass: looks like some kind of foam he cuts out
Aug 20, 2015 at 11:14 AM - Mike Kelly: yeah
Aug 20, 2015 at 11:14 AM - Mike Glass: he has a small garage but uses the space very wisely
Aug 20, 2015 at 11:15 AM - Mike Kelly: i really want a laser cutter...
Aug 20, 2015 at 11:15 AM - Mike Kelly: mike i got a question on cncing, how do you prevent cutting into your work surface in cases with vacuum tables
Aug 20, 2015 at 11:15 AM - Mike Kelly: just a very precise measurement on part thickness?
Aug 20, 2015 at 11:18 AM - Mike Glass: I think the vacuum table top is sacrafical
Aug 20, 2015 at 11:18 AM - Mike Glass: thats why they put 3/4 down then tram it down every 3 months
Aug 20, 2015 at 11:19 AM - jbigler1986: his tool rack is legit
    Aug 20, 2015 at 11:21 AM - donhuevo: V=iR

Aug 20, 2015 at 11:22 AM - Mike Kelly: i sent makerfarm a question on the heater thickness
Aug 20, 2015 at 11:24 AM - Mike Glass: what do you want a laser cutter for MK
Aug 20, 2015 at 11:25 AM - donhuevo: to remove the laser from it and mount it to a drone to kill balloons
Aug 20, 2015 at 11:26 AM - Mike Glass: this is on my list http://jtechphotonics.com/?product=...pliant-driver-kit-with-us-style-power-adapter
Aug 20, 2015 at 11:27 AM - daniel871: You either put porous MDF on the vacuum table and tape around it, or you leave a "skin" material on the vacuum table to be removed later, Mike.
Aug 20, 2015 at 11:28 AM - daniel871: When we do UHMW parts at work we leave .035" skin behind and trim it out with deburring tools/laminate trimmers for perimeter cuts. Slots we leave .015 and basically tear out later.
Aug 20, 2015 at 11:28 AM - daniel871: Depending on the grid pattern you can use to hold a part down.
Aug 20, 2015 at 11:28 AM - Mike Glass: if your bed is 100 flat.
Aug 20, 2015 at 11:30 AM - daniel871: The manufacturer of ours did a fly-cut of our table with the machine itself after leveling the head and framework.
Aug 20, 2015 at 11:30 AM - daniel871: After that it's been a matter of "always call the table Z=Zero for Machine Zero and put Material thickness and Safe Rapid levels in the CAM software"
Aug 20, 2015 at 11:31 AM - daniel871: It helps that there is a tool touch-off pedestal and hard-coded touch-off macro for the carousel.
Aug 20, 2015 at 11:31 AM - daniel871: (set the pedestal on the work surface you want to call Zero, touch off tools, go)
    Aug 20, 2015 at 11:32 AM - jbigler1986: how was the meeting
    Aug 20, 2015 at 11:32 AM - daniel871: Better than I expected.
Aug 20, 2015 at 11:32 AM - daniel871: Laws in Georgia were recently changed so that when an insurance company settles against the insured's wishes, any further suits are basically tried the way it should have been done to start with.
Aug 20, 2015 at 11:33 AM - jbigler1986: yeah i figured you would be fine
Aug 20, 2015 at 11:42 AM - daniel871: Also the other company is an Uninsured Motorist company, so while there's still a chance they may pursue me for whatever they pay out, apparently those companies tend to treat payouts like tax write-offs (depending on how big the amount is).
Aug 20, 2015 at 11:43 AM - daniel871: They basically told me that the same "it would be more expensive to fight" mentality that worked against me in the initial suit will probably work in my favor. I'm still skeptical, but I feel better knowing that I'll at least get to defend myself if it comes to a trial.
Aug 20, 2015 at 11:45 AM - daniel871: Also they'll be sending me copies of the statements and depositions they got from the first suit records so I can review them and let them know what bits of testimony are nonsense and what is true, and give any additional feedback that may be useful like the emails and records of voice mails I left the police officer way back then that they reminded me of that I need to dig up and forward to them.
Aug 20, 2015 at 11:45 AM - daniel871: Which is a hell of a lot more than the other law firm did.
Aug 20, 2015 at 11:46 AM - daniel871: Ah crap, now I'm getting called into the VP's office for a meeting.
Aug 20, 2015 at 11:46 AM - daniel871: Just when the day was looking better.
Aug 20, 2015 at 11:48 AM - jbigler1986: I just found out that one of owners' daughter is a big divorce attorney. He told me to let him know if I need any help. It's been a good day today
    Aug 20, 2015 at 11:48 AM - jbigler1986: one of our owners' *
Aug 20, 2015 at 11:50 AM - jbigler1986: It's amazing how much peoples mood changes the day before Friday
    Aug 20, 2015 at 11:51 AM - Mike Kelly: what wouldn't i use a laser cutter for?
    Aug 20, 2015 at 11:51 AM - jbigler1986: your fingers
Aug 20, 2015 at 11:54 AM - Mike Kelly: you don't know that!
Aug 20, 2015 at 11:56 AM - Mike Kelly: that R1+ is a bunch of rambly thoughts
Aug 20, 2015 at 11:57 AM - Mike Kelly: i wish people used the enter key more
Aug 20, 2015 at 11:57 AM - Mike Kelly: so much easier to read when it's broken up
    Aug 20, 2015 at 11:59 AM - Mike Glass: O

Aug 20, 2015 at 11:59 AM - Mike Kelly: someones trying to make a 24x24x24" printer on the 3d printing hobbyists group
Aug 20, 2015 at 11:59 AM - Mike Kelly: looks like it's put together with tooth picks
Aug 20, 2015 at 12:00 PM - Mike Glass: I like that beast printer man that is nice
Aug 20, 2015 at 12:00 PM - Mike Kelly: that thing with 4 hot ends?
Aug 20, 2015 at 12:01 PM - Mike Glass: they make one without the 4 also.
Aug 20, 2015 at 12:01 PM - Mike Kelly: right
Aug 20, 2015 at 12:01 PM - Mike Glass: not a bad price either
    Aug 20, 2015 at 12:03 PM - Mike Kelly: i guess i didn't look at the price
Aug 20, 2015 at 12:04 PM - Mike Glass: $1850 for the kit
    Aug 20, 2015 at 12:04 PM - Mike Glass: 470 x 435 x 690mm Build Area
Aug 20, 2015 at 12:06 PM - Mike Glass: guess that is with the 4 hotends.hhmm
Aug 20, 2015 at 12:06 PM - Mike Kelly: that's not bad at all
Aug 20, 2015 at 12:07 PM - Mike Glass: 3299 for the fully assembled
Aug 20, 2015 at 12:09 PM - WheresWaldo: Afternoon everyone.
Aug 20, 2015 at 12:10 PM - Mike Kelly: i'm beginning to think the reason that allted doesn't want to release his models is because of their quality of design
Aug 20, 2015 at 12:11 PM - Mike Glass: yea there is alot I would change, if so inclined
Aug 20, 2015 at 12:12 PM - Mike Kelly: i'm recreating them and let's say i'm not impressed by what i'm seeing
Aug 20, 2015 at 12:13 PM - Mike Kelly: only good part is he worked in metric
    Aug 20, 2015 at 12:13 PM - donhuevo: ouch
Aug 20, 2015 at 12:13 PM - donhuevo: sounds like he's better off Ted
Aug 20, 2015 at 12:14 PM - Mike Glass: lol
Aug 20, 2015 at 12:14 PM - WheresWaldo: MK, you speaking of Printed CNC?
    Aug 20, 2015 at 12:15 PM - jbigler1986: concrete printer
Aug 20, 2015 at 12:15 PM - Mike Glass: I get to put mine to the test tonight
Aug 20, 2015 at 12:15 PM - Mike Kelly: yes
Aug 20, 2015 at 12:15 PM - Mike Glass: I still want to make one of those jb
Aug 20, 2015 at 12:16 PM - jbigler1986: yeah that would be awesome
Aug 20, 2015 at 12:16 PM - donhuevo: so you can print rows and rows of Chinese houses?
Aug 20, 2015 at 12:16 PM - Mike Glass: Lawn decor
Aug 20, 2015 at 12:17 PM - WheresWaldo: I am giving up on Thingiverse, trying to go back and add STEP or IGES files to all my Things. I am beginning to feel if there are only STL files it is pretty much a proprietary design, since the creator doesn't want you to modify it.
Aug 20, 2015 at 12:18 PM - WheresWaldo: At least I am trying to include them on all my Robo files.
Aug 20, 2015 at 12:18 PM - Mike Kelly: yeah i try and remember to include them
    Aug 20, 2015 at 12:19 PM - Mike Kelly: i forget a lot
Aug 20, 2015 at 12:20 PM - WheresWaldo: But the other thing that bothers me about Thingiverse, is that many of the people there are just plain dumb. Complain about things they printed when it is obvious it's their print job not the design itself.
Aug 20, 2015 at 12:21 PM - jbigler1986: yep. or not knowing it will need support to print it
Aug 20, 2015 at 12:21 PM - Mike Glass: yea or they print it the way it opens up in the slicer and it failed to print..lol
    Aug 20, 2015 at 12:21 PM - jbigler1986: haha. that's a good one
Aug 20, 2015 at 12:22 PM - Mike Glass: I just updated my robo tool holder so it sits on the bed correct when opened.
Aug 20, 2015 at 12:22 PM - WheresWaldo: I can't even count how many times I have seen the part is too small. I guess they forget plastic shrinks as it cools. Or they print a high stress part with 20% infill and it breaks.
Aug 20, 2015 at 12:23 PM - donhuevo: I'm going to start designing ribs into my stl's just to mess with people
    Aug 20, 2015 at 12:23 PM - donhuevo: z ribbing on purpose
Aug 20, 2015 at 12:23 PM - Mike Kelly: haha
    Aug 20, 2015 at 12:23 PM - Mike Kelly: you're evil
Aug 20, 2015 at 12:23 PM - WheresWaldo: I even had a make where the picture shows his printer is over-extruding then he told me the part was too tight.
Aug 20, 2015 at 12:24 PM - Mike Glass: hey maybe a stock robo it would turn our correct then
Aug 20, 2015 at 12:24 PM - Mike Glass: out

Aug 20, 2015 at 12:24 PM - donhuevo: ooh, maybe
Aug 20, 2015 at 12:24 PM - WheresWaldo: Yeah, where did those Robo guys get 723.38 E steps anyway?
Aug 20, 2015 at 12:25 PM - donhuevo: speaking of prints being too tight... MK, what were you thinking with your bed end brackets and those belt holders?
Aug 20, 2015 at 12:25 PM - donhuevo: it's like square peg, round hole
Aug 20, 2015 at 12:28 PM - jbigler1986: that is a good question on the esteps. Must have been an average from a bunch of printers
Aug 20, 2015 at 12:28 PM - Mike Glass: is that the stock setting?
    Aug 20, 2015 at 12:29 PM - jbigler1986: pretty sure
Aug 20, 2015 at 12:29 PM - Mike Glass: i have not messed with that on mine
Aug 20, 2015 at 12:29 PM - jbigler1986: it's close enough. its usually something else causing an issue
Aug 20, 2015 at 12:31 PM - WheresWaldo: In my informal survey and my own findings the number should be closer to 800. I averaged 800-820 over the 10 or so times I have measured. Xander came up with a number over 850.
Aug 20, 2015 at 12:32 PM - WheresWaldo: @jb 'close enough' is why I am so frustrated with Thingiverse users.
Aug 20, 2015 at 12:32 PM - Mike Glass: cant that really be adjusted buy the flow rate?
Aug 20, 2015 at 12:32 PM - jbigler1986: well yours is just 1 printer. i'm sure it was tested on several
Aug 20, 2015 at 12:33 PM - jbigler1986: 850 is way off. must be something different going on there
Aug 20, 2015 at 12:34 PM - WheresWaldo: Yes, but then your flow rate doesn't follow suggested norms.
Aug 20, 2015 at 12:34 PM - Mike Glass: yes, but each filament is different
Aug 20, 2015 at 12:36 PM - donhuevo: like a box of chocolates
Aug 20, 2015 at 12:36 PM - WheresWaldo: True, but the extruder only knows the length of the extrusion and then it bases a bunch of stuff off of that number. So E-steps is E-Steps regardless of the type of filament used.
Aug 20, 2015 at 12:36 PM - Mike Glass: but we dont know what filament they used to test it to get the numbers is all.
Aug 20, 2015 at 12:36 PM - donhuevo: I would assume their own
    Aug 20, 2015 at 12:37 PM - jbigler1986: Wood filament of course
Aug 20, 2015 at 12:37 PM - donhuevo: he said wood
Aug 20, 2015 at 12:37 PM - Mike Glass: I have some original robo I should try and see
Aug 20, 2015 at 12:37 PM - WheresWaldo: Shouldn't matter. E-Steps is steps per length, not volume.
    Aug 20, 2015 at 12:38 PM - jbigler1986: speed matters though
Aug 20, 2015 at 12:38 PM - Mike Glass: o so if it was 2mm filament vers 1.67 filament it wouldnt show a difference?
Aug 20, 2015 at 12:38 PM - WheresWaldo: Speed limits, it's not just a good idea, its the law.
    Aug 20, 2015 at 12:38 PM - jbigler1986: filament diameter would make a difference
Aug 20, 2015 at 12:38 PM - donhuevo: the same length of filament would extruder but you'd end up with too much plastic
Aug 20, 2015 at 12:39 PM - Mike Glass: there ya go
    Aug 20, 2015 at 12:39 PM - WheresWaldo: Not to E-steps it doesn't
Aug 20, 2015 at 12:40 PM - Mike Glass: maybe it should be done by wieght..lol
Aug 20, 2015 at 12:40 PM - jbigler1986: so you think if you extrude 100mm of 1.75mm filament vs 3mm filament with same estep will extrude the same amount?
Aug 20, 2015 at 12:40 PM - donhuevo: or have an extruder that would extrude skinny filament faster than fat
Aug 20, 2015 at 12:40 PM - donhuevo: the same length jb
Aug 20, 2015 at 12:41 PM - donhuevo: way more volume though
Aug 20, 2015 at 12:41 PM - WheresWaldo: JB your not getting it, you are confusing length versus volume, e-steps is just a factor in volume but doesn't measure volume.
Aug 20, 2015 at 12:41 PM - daniel871: Nah, the 3mm would spit out a lot more plastic due to the actual volume of plastic shoved forward a certain length.
Aug 20, 2015 at 12:41 PM - donhuevo: and it's length at the extruder not the nozzle
Aug 20, 2015 at 12:41 PM - daniel871: If you weren't telling your slicer what was going on.
Aug 20, 2015 at 12:42 PM - WheresWaldo: Don, if you don't tell your slicer what is going on, then you might as well drive your car blindfolded.
Aug 20, 2015 at 12:42 PM - daniel871: Pretty sure it factors the diameter of the nozzle vs. the diameter of the filament.
Aug 20, 2015 at 12:42 PM - jbigler1986: well lots of people do that
Aug 20, 2015 at 12:43 PM - daniel871: So actual esteps the slicer tells it to go would change even though you don't actually change them.
Aug 20, 2015 at 12:43 PM - donhuevo: my slicer and I aren't on speaking terms right now
Aug 20, 2015 at 12:43 PM - WheresWaldo: Yes, Esteps tell it the length, then filament diameter can be added to the mix to calculate volume.
    Aug 20, 2015 at 12:43 PM - jbigler1986: MC isn't owking for you?
Aug 20, 2015 at 12:43 PM - daniel871: So it's all "Okay, 3mm filament thru .4 nozzle needs X length of filament pushed forward.
    Aug 20, 2015 at 12:43 PM - jbigler1986: working*
    Aug 20, 2015 at 12:43 PM - donhuevo: MfnC
Aug 20, 2015 at 12:44 PM - daniel871: vs. "1.75mm filament thru .4 nozzle needs Y length of filament pushed forward"
Aug 20, 2015 at 12:45 PM - jbigler1986: The teeth on the hobb makes a big difference. That could be some of the peoples issue
Aug 20, 2015 at 12:45 PM - WheresWaldo: If you extrude 800 steps of 3 mm or 1.75 mmm, guess what, the same length of filament is extruded.
    Aug 20, 2015 at 12:45 PM - daniel871: Just the volume changes.
    Aug 20, 2015 at 12:45 PM - WheresWaldo: Yes
Aug 20, 2015 at 12:45 PM - WheresWaldo: but not because of the esteps.
Aug 20, 2015 at 12:46 PM - daniel871: Yeah, I know. It's the relationship between filament diameter and nozzle opening.
Aug 20, 2015 at 12:46 PM - jbigler1986: But it will make a difference to the printed part
Aug 20, 2015 at 12:46 PM - daniel871: (and your extrusion multiplier that adds another layer to the equation).
Aug 20, 2015 at 12:46 PM - daniel871: Not if the slicer is set up right.
    Aug 20, 2015 at 12:46 PM - jbigler1986: don't ever change the multiplier to 100 FYI
Aug 20, 2015 at 12:46 PM - daniel871: Because it will calculate fewer steps for the same volume of plastic.]
    Aug 20, 2015 at 12:47 PM - daniel871: If going from 1.75 to 3
Aug 20, 2015 at 12:47 PM - daniel871: (and vice-versa if going the other way)
Aug 20, 2015 at 12:47 PM - daniel871: So the actual volume of plastic for a part doesn't change, just how the extruder is told to push it thru the nozzle.
Aug 20, 2015 at 12:47 PM - WheresWaldo: I am assuming 2jb you found that out the hard way?
Aug 20, 2015 at 12:48 PM - jbigler1986: If you adjust the slicer yes. I am saying if you don't touch the slicer which new people won't know any better
Aug 20, 2015 at 12:48 PM - jbigler1986: I did find out the hard way
Aug 20, 2015 at 12:48 PM - donhuevo: alrighty... time to head home. Where's my blindfold
Aug 20, 2015 at 12:48 PM - Mike Glass: haha
Aug 20, 2015 at 12:49 PM - WheresWaldo: This is why 3D printers isn't a commodity item yet, and all manufacturers lie about their capabilities.
Aug 20, 2015 at 12:49 PM - Mike Glass: I think jb is the only one that actually understood what I was asking
Aug 20, 2015 at 12:49 PM - daniel871: What were you asking again?
Aug 20, 2015 at 12:49 PM - WheresWaldo: Too many people thing 3D printers are PRINTERS
Aug 20, 2015 at 12:49 PM - daniel871: I missed the start of the whole thing.
Aug 20, 2015 at 12:50 PM - WheresWaldo: MG, you mean about filament volume?
Aug 20, 2015 at 12:51 PM - jbigler1986: If your slicer is setup for 1.75 filament and your spool is say 1.85 then the quality of the part will be affected
Aug 20, 2015 at 12:51 PM - Mike Glass: How the esteps where calculated at robo
Aug 20, 2015 at 12:52 PM - jbigler1986: people do not know that they need to measure each spool and change it in the slicer
Aug 20, 2015 at 12:52 PM - WheresWaldo: Yes, but it is because printers need to know the volume of filament printed, so you told it the volume is larger than the actual, it will be a big under-extrusion.
Aug 20, 2015 at 12:52 PM - daniel871: Well sure. But that's why there are things about taking some sample measurements of your spool and verifying the diameter before you print.
    Aug 20, 2015 at 12:52 PM - daniel871: Before you slice rather.
Aug 20, 2015 at 12:52 PM - jbigler1986: exactly. new people do not know that though
Aug 20, 2015 at 12:52 PM - daniel871: Which is a pain in the ass because some spools like to throw up everywhere once you start unspooling them if they aren't held with netting.
Aug 20, 2015 at 12:53 PM - WheresWaldo: Yes, but how many times have we all answered questions about extrusion volume with TomS's calibration video.
Aug 20, 2015 at 12:53 PM - daniel871: Or they somehow manage to tangle as you roll them back up after taking measurements.
    Aug 20, 2015 at 12:53 PM - daniel871: I've never done that.
    Aug 20, 2015 at 12:53 PM - daniel871: :p
Aug 20, 2015 at 12:54 PM - WheresWaldo: Someone made a gadget that continuously measures filament diameter. Marlin supports it in the new firmware.
Aug 20, 2015 at 12:54 PM - daniel871: Did you see the bit where the m3D claims to have that?
    Aug 20, 2015 at 12:55 PM - jbigler1986: i did not
Aug 20, 2015 at 12:55 PM - Mike Glass: that printer is the size of a fist.
Aug 20, 2015 at 12:55 PM - Mike Glass: what good is it
    Aug 20, 2015 at 12:55 PM - daniel871: Printing fists.
Aug 20, 2015 at 12:56 PM - WheresWaldo: I can't see how they would fit that in, much less at their price point.
Aug 20, 2015 at 12:56 PM - daniel871: Probably be a very good prosthetic hand printer.
Aug 20, 2015 at 12:56 PM - Mike Glass: too small for that, robo is just about right for it
Aug 20, 2015 at 12:56 PM - daniel871: I just like the mechanical part where the bed is stationary.
Aug 20, 2015 at 12:57 PM - daniel871: Probably had to make it that small so the compound XYZ carriage could move well.
Aug 20, 2015 at 12:57 PM - WheresWaldo: Dan, it's not on their website, where did you see that?

Aug 20, 2015 at 12:59 PM - Mike Glass: they really dont have a spec page in detail, but it does say autocalibration
Aug 20, 2015 at 1:00 PM - daniel871: It used to be somewhere in the FAQ but I'm having a hard time finding it.
Aug 20, 2015 at 1:01 PM - WheresWaldo: Yeah, there autocalibration is "we measure our filament for you and put a code on the spool, enter the code and we will adjust the slicer for you"
Aug 20, 2015 at 1:02 PM - daniel871: There used to be some language about it automatically calibrating the print based on the filament material and size being fed into it, but was probably simplified to what you're saying.
Aug 20, 2015 at 1:02 PM - daniel871: Which should do the same thing if their QC is worth a damn.
Aug 20, 2015 at 1:02 PM - WheresWaldo: It does auto bed level too, so just like every body else.
Aug 20, 2015 at 1:03 PM - WheresWaldo: I see what they are trying to do, but chipped filament cartridges are even easier for beginners, that appears to be their market.
Aug 20, 2015 at 1:04 PM - daniel871: Well sure, their whole gimmick is trying to make 3d printing something less of a tinkering thing and more of an "I want to print this, DO IT!" thing.
Aug 20, 2015 at 1:04 PM - jbigler1986: you can use any filament with it though
Aug 20, 2015 at 1:05 PM - daniel871: They claim anything including Ninjaflex.
Aug 20, 2015 at 1:05 PM - jbigler1986: well 3rd party anyways. not sure on actual material
Aug 20, 2015 at 1:05 PM - WheresWaldo: But then you lose half of their auto calibration
Aug 20, 2015 at 1:05 PM - WheresWaldo: Unless of course they are repackaging all that filament
Aug 20, 2015 at 1:06 PM - daniel871: "Yes, The Micro is compatible with all standard 1.75 mm filaments. We support the widest range of materials possible. The only filaments we do not recommend that you use are those filled with particles such as wood particles or metal particles which may clog your printer nozzle."
Aug 20, 2015 at 1:07 PM - WheresWaldo: So the build in spool compartment is for 500 g spools?
Aug 20, 2015 at 1:07 PM - WheresWaldo: Sorry, just read it they are 225g spools
Aug 20, 2015 at 1:08 PM - WheresWaldo: That's about $50 per Kg for their PLA.
Aug 20, 2015 at 1:08 PM - daniel871: Yeah, not sure how it works if you try to use a bigger spool.
Aug 20, 2015 at 1:09 PM - WheresWaldo: It would be much cheaper to respool Hatchbox on their reels.
Aug 20, 2015 at 1:09 PM - daniel871: Probably what people will end up donig.
    Aug 20, 2015 at 1:09 PM - daniel871: doing
Aug 20, 2015 at 1:09 PM - daniel871: I figure for the money I'd just get an HIC
Aug 20, 2015 at 1:10 PM - daniel871: Then I get the joy of building one from a kit instead of modifying one and working out the bugs.

Aug 20, 2015 at 1:11 PM - Mike Glass: lol
    Aug 20, 2015 at 1:11 PM - daniel871: Mine is different!
Aug 20, 2015 at 1:11 PM - daniel871: Different ID, same listing, weird.
Aug 20, 2015 at 1:12 PM - jbigler1986: order lead screws while you are at it
Aug 20, 2015 at 1:12 PM - Mike Glass: different parts of the country
    Aug 20, 2015 at 1:12 PM - daniel871: 14399 vs 14410
    Aug 20, 2015 at 1:12 PM - WheresWaldo: http://www.hic3dprinter.com/productshow.asp?ArticleID=0&id=18&cid=001 Same one?
Aug 20, 2015 at 1:12 PM - Mike Glass: or hits
Aug 20, 2015 at 1:12 PM - Mike Glass: yep same one with lead screws
    Aug 20, 2015 at 1:12 PM - daniel871: No.
Aug 20, 2015 at 1:13 PM - daniel871: Aluminum frame on Amazon vs Acrylic there.
Aug 20, 2015 at 1:13 PM - Mike Glass: oh duh..
Aug 20, 2015 at 1:13 PM - daniel871: A like how it says Aluminum and then later on says the structure is acrylic
    Aug 20, 2015 at 1:13 PM - daniel871: Bah.
    Aug 20, 2015 at 1:13 PM - WheresWaldo: It's a Prusa i3, what is so special?
    Aug 20, 2015 at 1:13 PM - daniel871: Price maybe.
    Aug 20, 2015 at 1:14 PM - jbigler1986: yep .price
Aug 20, 2015 at 1:14 PM - daniel871: A couple other people on here were talking about getting one.
Aug 20, 2015 at 1:14 PM - Mike Glass: you can get in on ebay for $350 from the same seller.
Aug 20, 2015 at 1:14 PM - daniel871: Blake somebody has one, and I think JB was contemplating one at one point.
Aug 20, 2015 at 1:14 PM - jbigler1986: all aluminum. comes with lcd (even though it's cheap). Come with blower
    Aug 20, 2015 at 1:14 PM - daniel871: Heated bed?
Aug 20, 2015 at 1:14 PM - Mike Glass: yep
    Aug 20, 2015 at 1:15 PM - daniel871: Yeah.
Aug 20, 2015 at 1:15 PM - Mike Glass: no autolevel is about it
Aug 20, 2015 at 1:15 PM - jbigler1986: I am still contemplating it. Gonna wait and see what happens next friday. I will have the work one to hold me over until then
Aug 20, 2015 at 1:15 PM - WheresWaldo: How does it compare to this from Folger Tech http://folgertech.com/collections/3...ap-2020-prusa-i3-full-aluminum-3d-printer-kit
Aug 20, 2015 at 1:15 PM - Mike Glass: You cant get them to ship them
Aug 20, 2015 at 1:15 PM - daniel871: I've heard only bad things about Folgertech.
    Aug 20, 2015 at 1:15 PM - jbigler1986: ^
Aug 20, 2015 at 1:15 PM - WheresWaldo: So Folger Tech went flaky
Aug 20, 2015 at 1:15 PM - daniel871: Missing parts, cracked parts, no support, etc.
Aug 20, 2015 at 1:16 PM - Mike Glass: run around when Blake bought his
Aug 20, 2015 at 1:16 PM - daniel871: At least when you buy it from Amazon you get Amazon support for issues.
Aug 20, 2015 at 1:16 PM - Mike Glass: Hictop was packaged really nice
Aug 20, 2015 at 1:16 PM - WheresWaldo: That is why I am building my own, about 1/3 of the way through the printed parts.
    Aug 20, 2015 at 1:17 PM - Mike Glass: you building a V2 Spider?
Aug 20, 2015 at 1:17 PM - Mike Glass: or herculien
Aug 20, 2015 at 1:18 PM - WheresWaldo: Started as a herculien, but decided it was just too big, Spider V2 now
    Aug 20, 2015 at 1:18 PM - daniel871: Too Big?
Aug 20, 2015 at 1:19 PM - WheresWaldo: Yeah, too big for what I need. So the Spider is a better fit.
Aug 20, 2015 at 1:19 PM - Mike Glass: I think you can size them down to anything you want really
Aug 20, 2015 at 1:20 PM - WheresWaldo: Besides a lot of the stuff in the herculien works or was retrofit in the V2 Spider.
Aug 20, 2015 at 1:20 PM - Mike Kelly: yeah the herculien is huge
Aug 20, 2015 at 1:21 PM - Mike Kelly: man i'm thinking about trying to 3d print our system but it would be quite a pain to go through and correct all these files for printing
Aug 20, 2015 at 1:21 PM - WheresWaldo: I was all set, then I saw a picture in the Google Hangout page with someone standing behind a Herc
Aug 20, 2015 at 1:22 PM - Mike Kelly: the spider is big enough
    Aug 20, 2015 at 1:22 PM - daniel871: I want one of these.
Aug 20, 2015 at 1:22 PM - WheresWaldo: Nice thing about these open designs, if you think you can do it better, then at least you have the opportunity.
Aug 20, 2015 at 1:23 PM - Mike Kelly: yeah that what bugs me about the mpcnc
Aug 20, 2015 at 1:23 PM - Mike Kelly: i just want to tweak stuff
Aug 20, 2015 at 1:23 PM - WheresWaldo: I already swapped some stuff for Walter's parts, then also re-modeled a few for better aesthetics.
Aug 20, 2015 at 1:25 PM - WheresWaldo: Daniel, who builds something then measures the space it is going in after.
    Aug 20, 2015 at 1:25 PM - jbigler1986: i know. that thing barely fit
Aug 20, 2015 at 1:25 PM - daniel871: I'd make it 9' tall but the same base width so it'd fit in my shop.
Aug 20, 2015 at 1:25 PM - daniel871: If I had dozens of thousands to spend.
Aug 20, 2015 at 1:26 PM - daniel871: I like the idea of just dumping pellets into a bin and it melting and extruding from there.
    Aug 20, 2015 at 1:26 PM - daniel871: Good grief it's raining *again*.
Aug 20, 2015 at 1:26 PM - Mike Kelly: i think in atlanta i'd be more surprised when it wasn't raining
    Aug 20, 2015 at 1:27 PM - daniel871: This isn't London.
Aug 20, 2015 at 1:27 PM - WheresWaldo: We had a dry day today, after flash flooding the past two days.
    Aug 20, 2015 at 1:27 PM - jbigler1986:
Aug 20, 2015 at 1:27 PM - WheresWaldo: Dan, you in ATL? I am in CLT
Aug 20, 2015 at 1:28 PM - WheresWaldo: @jb, there is a lot of love for the HobbyKing on RCGroups forum.
Aug 20, 2015 at 1:28 PM - daniel871: I was about to ask if that was the HobbyKing printer.
Aug 20, 2015 at 1:28 PM - daniel871: A have no idea what CLT is.
Aug 20, 2015 at 1:29 PM - WheresWaldo: Airport code for Charlotte

Aug 20, 2015 at 1:31 PM - daniel871: Might be a proper CNC controller, looks a lot like one of the boards on the CNC mill we have in the back of the shop.
Aug 20, 2015 at 1:31 PM - WheresWaldo: Looks like a Printrboard or maybe an older version of the Ultimaker board
    Aug 20, 2015 at 1:32 PM - jbigler1986: hmmm
    Aug 20, 2015 at 1:32 PM - jbigler1986: marlin?

Aug 20, 2015 at 1:35 PM - daniel871: Some comments on it asking if anyone managed to successfully add one.
Aug 20, 2015 at 1:35 PM - daniel871: Well, if it's not raining when I get home I'll be swapping thermistors out and retrying prints.
Aug 20, 2015 at 1:40 PM - jbigler1986: Getting a router this weekend and building a file cabinet
Aug 20, 2015 at 1:43 PM - Mike Glass: $66 for shipping for the mini printer..lol
    Aug 20, 2015 at 1:46 PM - jbigler1986: international or US warehouse
Aug 20, 2015 at 1:46 PM - daniel871: Thinking about printing this after getting the thermistors fixed.

Aug 20, 2015 at 1:46 PM - Mike Kelly: this makes no sense, solidworks is saying this model is .74 degree off axis but when i try and adjust to that in simplify it's not laying flat
    Aug 20, 2015 at 1:46 PM - daniel871: Take the precision out.
    Aug 20, 2015 at 1:47 PM - daniel871: more decimal places.
    Aug 20, 2015 at 1:47 PM - Mike Kelly: s3d only allows 2
    Aug 20, 2015 at 1:47 PM - Mike Kelly: and it's .74085241
Aug 20, 2015 at 1:47 PM - Mike Glass: INT
    Aug 20, 2015 at 1:47 PM - jbigler1986: MG it's only in stock international. That's why
Aug 20, 2015 at 1:47 PM - Mike Kelly: doing it by hand looks to be about 1.5deg
Aug 20, 2015 at 1:48 PM - Mike Glass: jb what router you going to get
Aug 20, 2015 at 1:48 PM - Mike Kelly: uh wow ok this is weird
Aug 20, 2015 at 1:48 PM - daniel871: Does S3D have a "lay flat on this surface" function anywhere?
Aug 20, 2015 at 1:48 PM - Mike Glass: get one like MK then you can use it for a cnc down the road
Aug 20, 2015 at 1:50 PM - Mike Glass: center and flat is one button
    Aug 20, 2015 at 1:50 PM - jbigler1986: yeah not sure yet
Aug 20, 2015 at 1:51 PM - jbigler1986: going to look at them tonight at B&M stores
Aug 20, 2015 at 1:51 PM - Mike Kelly: well i fixed it by setting "do not adjust negative values
    Aug 20, 2015 at 2:00 PM - Mike Kelly: i think 12:1 is the scale i need
    Aug 20, 2015 at 2:01 PM - Mike Kelly: i need a bigger printer
    Aug 20, 2015 at 2:01 PM - Mike Kelly: 250mm x 150mm is too limiting
Aug 20, 2015 at 2:02 PM - WheresWaldo: MK, maybe the Herc is for you! :)
Aug 20, 2015 at 2:07 PM - Mike Kelly: yeah i don't see my president buying us another 3d printer anytime soone
Aug 20, 2015 at 2:07 PM - Mike Kelly: he think's it's stupid since it couldn't make a 40:1 model of our system, not designed to be 3d printable
Aug 20, 2015 at 2:09 PM - Mike Kelly: so since things slowed down for me i'm gonna spend some free time printing the sections
Aug 20, 2015 at 2:09 PM - Mike Kelly: the rear axle, which is 1/9 of the whole trailer, is gonna take an estimated 26 hours
    Aug 20, 2015 at 2:13 PM - Mike Kelly: ok 20 hours
Aug 20, 2015 at 2:13 PM - Mike Kelly: still though
Aug 20, 2015 at 2:32 PM - Mike Kelly: estimated 94 hours to print all 9 sections
Aug 20, 2015 at 3:02 PM - toy: just add a linear actuator to increase your y - axis im getting 385mm
    Aug 20, 2015 at 3:02 PM - toy: all for 150$
Aug 20, 2015 at 3:17 PM - Mike Kelly: gl finding a 385x228 sized heater

Aug 20, 2015 at 3:23 PM - jbigler1986: What plate? Dont you have the bed already done?
    Aug 20, 2015 at 3:23 PM - toy: http://i.imgur.com/OLRvavi.jpg
Aug 20, 2015 at 3:23 PM - toy: im not gonna use the titanium i decided
Aug 20, 2015 at 3:24 PM - toy: i would have to use stick tape to hold it in place while surface grinding
Aug 20, 2015 at 3:24 PM - toy: not the right kind of stone, etc
    Aug 20, 2015 at 3:24 PM - toy: but i think i can some 10 x 18 SS to try
Aug 20, 2015 at 3:25 PM - toy: not sure how SS would work as a bed but i will try it out i guess
Aug 20, 2015 at 3:26 PM - toy: i got my new magnetic base holder btw as u can see in my pic...
Aug 20, 2015 at 3:27 PM - jbigler1986: You will be printing again in 5 months
Aug 20, 2015 at 3:27 PM - toy: its nice because i can reach out to about 22" and it holds a zero really nice even if i accidentally bump it
    Aug 20, 2015 at 3:28 PM - toy: ikr
Aug 20, 2015 at 3:29 PM - toy: u should mount this to your robo http://www.ebay.com/itm/NSK-Linear-...crew-THK-KR-/191665648135?hash=item2ca029b207
Aug 20, 2015 at 4:26 PM - jbigler1986: i have yet to print something that i couldn't fit on the bed
    Aug 20, 2015 at 5:06 PM - Bill Monroe: http://www.ustream.tv/channel/bills-lab
Aug 20, 2015 at 5:18 PM - jbigler1986: Havent seen you streaming during a print in a while
Aug 20, 2015 at 5:27 PM - Mike Glass: hey hey hey
Aug 20, 2015 at 5:29 PM - Bill Monroe: ya, the stand broke and I've not taken the time to make a new one... it's duct taped to a box right now
Aug 20, 2015 at 5:29 PM - Bill Monroe: NG
Aug 20, 2015 at 5:29 PM - Bill Monroe: MG
Aug 20, 2015 at 5:35 PM - Mike Glass: My mount is completed now bill
Aug 20, 2015 at 5:36 PM - Bill Monroe: awesome
Aug 20, 2015 at 5:38 PM - Mike Glass: [IMG]
Aug 20, 2015 at 5:39 PM - Mike Glass: [IMG] this keeps it from slipping.
Aug 20, 2015 at 5:41 PM - Bill Monroe: i had some sticky-back felt I use for the plane...
Aug 20, 2015 at 5:44 PM - Bill Monroe: got Mach3 talking to the Galil controller, MPG, and the tool height mushroom.. just gotta wire it now
Aug 20, 2015 at 5:44 PM - Mike Glass: you going to make a dust collector?
Aug 20, 2015 at 5:44 PM - Bill Monroe: ya, eventually, I'll be cutting sheet metal first though
Aug 20, 2015 at 5:45 PM - Mike Glass: what kind of bit to you use for sheet metal?
Aug 20, 2015 at 5:45 PM - Bill Monroe: hang on, I'll get one
Aug 20, 2015 at 5:45 PM - Mike Glass: obviously a spiral down bit of some sort.
Aug 20, 2015 at 5:49 PM - Bill Monroe: cant get a decent pic.. let me find a link
    Aug 20, 2015 at 5:50 PM - Bill Monroe: ya, it's a down cutter
    Aug 20, 2015 at 5:51 PM - Bill Monroe: http://ekstromcarlson.com/shop/cutting-tools/2f-or-1f-downcut-router-bit-with-drill-point-3/
Aug 20, 2015 at 5:52 PM - Mike Glass: how far in the sacraficial bed to you have to go to cut.
Aug 20, 2015 at 5:52 PM - Bill Monroe: the pic in the link is the 2F, I use the 1F, the spiral length is shorter but still way more that needed for .080 for 2024-T3
    Aug 20, 2015 at 5:52 PM - Bill Monroe: maybe 1/4"
Aug 20, 2015 at 5:53 PM - Mike Glass: do you use foam then
Aug 20, 2015 at 5:53 PM - Bill Monroe: nope MDF
Aug 20, 2015 at 5:54 PM - Bill Monroe: cutting sheet metal instrument panels needs creative fixturing, foam wont do
Aug 20, 2015 at 5:56 PM - Mike Glass: seems like a lot to cut out in a single pass, but guess that depends on the travel speed.
Aug 20, 2015 at 5:57 PM - Bill Monroe: [IMG]
Aug 20, 2015 at 5:58 PM - Bill Monroe: it's not made with EMT, the machine handles it with ease
Aug 20, 2015 at 6:00 PM - jbigler1986: How long will that take
Aug 20, 2015 at 6:00 PM - Bill Monroe: I drill holes in the center of the cut outs, then in a few strategic places in the field.. stop the machine and run screws into the MDF, then cut everything out..
Aug 20, 2015 at 6:00 PM - Bill Monroe: 15 minutes or so
Aug 20, 2015 at 6:01 PM - Mike Glass: nice
Aug 20, 2015 at 6:02 PM - Bill Monroe: there's a layer of acrylic that goes on top, with LEDs inset around the tops, finally a layer of luthier grade cherry to cover it for the beauty layer
    Aug 20, 2015 at 6:02 PM - Bill Monroe: looks like a rolls-royce dashboard when it's done
Aug 20, 2015 at 6:03 PM - Bill Monroe: it'll look like this when it's done:
Aug 20, 2015 at 6:03 PM - Bill Monroe: [IMG]
Aug 20, 2015 at 6:15 PM - Mike Glass: but will it fly

Aug 20, 2015 at 6:17 PM - Bill Monroe: fully IFR, GPS WAAS approved for enroute and approach.. Dual NAVCOM, dual Glideslope, HSI.. voice altitude and course alerts
Aug 20, 2015 at 6:17 PM - Bill Monroe: ya.. some of the instruments are not internally lit.. those will have 4 LEDs routed into the acrylic so the cast light from the edge.. the wood covers all that up
Aug 20, 2015 at 6:18 PM - Mike Glass: neat
Aug 20, 2015 at 6:19 PM - Bill Monroe: the left wheel will have a portable GPS, on the right side will mount an Ipad mini with moving map

Aug 20, 2015 at 6:44 PM - Bill Monroe: if it was a cerebral comedy filled with gratuitous nudity.. I might be interested
    Aug 20, 2015 at 6:49 PM - jbigler1986: isn't 2.0 enough nudity for you?
Aug 20, 2015 at 6:50 PM - Bill Monroe: uhhh heh as Rob White says.. "Once you've seen one woman naked... you want to see the rest of them naked "
