Hi there, i have the r1, not plus.
It seems to tap out around 245 degrees. its recommended to print polycarbonate at 300+.

Is it possible for me to just upgrade the hot end? if so, which one, and how?

    Thanks!

Yes, the E3Dv6 or Prometheus can be used instead, there are others. Maybe ask one of the moderators to move this thread into the proper section, since you mention it is an R1 not a C2 printer

The 245 is a firmware limitation, but the hotend upgrade is still a good idea if you want to print PC.
