using dc motors instead of stepper ?

    That's cool, I'd like to see more closed loop 3d printers.

    and a heck of a lot more reliable, plus no need for X Y homing (or maybe once a month). plus it doesn´t seems to be very hard to do. just an arduino nano a few cables.

    i still do not understand why they still use stepper, they are heavy quite expensive energy inefficient and "dum".
    I eagerly whait for the first company to do a 3d printer with dc motors. i think it would be overall cheaper since there is no need for such a biffy psu, no fan needed to cool the control board, etc....


    plus it's not as if it was a new tech, almost all the printer use it (especially the cheap ones)

    I'll do a new topic if i ever try to do this

    Steppes are easy to use, provide position locking, and pretty cheap. There's also well established firmware for them.
