I've had no real issues with the printer but during a print there was this loud humming / rubbing noise and now it continues whenever the head moves. Now it won't reset to the proper start position either.

The belts seem to be fine.

    Any ideas?

Something is making the belt skip. It is getting blocked from moving. Go up and take a careful look with power off and manually move the carriage. Check the limit switches -- are they getting triggered or has something gotten moved out of place to prevent them from triggering?

Also check all of the set screws in the gantry. they may be loose enough to allow the belt to slip. While the belt itself can be tight, if the torque from the stepper motor is not transferred to the rod because the set screws are loose or even have fallen out of the sockets, then the belt wheel will spin without transferring torque.
