negative. The only people I know of doing that still are schools and EDU. Most have accepted that the onboard slicer is just not good enough. not a ding on Robo. Just a ding on octo.

    It is Pi
Slicers (even poor ones) are hungry for CPU and RAM
The limitations are sort of obvious :)

Just slice it elsewhere and hand it over to OctoPrint (via remote script or the HTTP gui).

Since my last post on June 7th, there has basically been nothing except corrections to spellings or comments and version bumps with no added functionality in any of the public repositories.

Some Cura 3 profile updates yesterday but nothing else in the last two weeks. I guess Robo either believes everything is working perfectly or they are already leaving this iteration of printers behind and looking at the next gen (this is just an opinion, not based on any inside knowledge).

Nothing in the Cura profiles that were updated relate to any settings, so no need to download and insert them into your current Cura setups.

Just one interesting addition to 1.1.6-dev, there is a test branch that adds capacitive sensor support to Marlin. Not sure where the intent to use this sensor, but it is good to see some work being done.

Also some small changes to Cura 3.4 profiles.

Sounds like you have a failing sd card in the raspberry pi, can’t help you with the Robo support thing but if you fire up a troubleshooting thread us users can help you out

OK, we can't help you with that :) Good luck.
If you decide to look at sorting it yourself we can assist.

    EDIT: What @Geof said :)

I would not just open ticket via the web page however. You need to call
Better yet schedule a tier-2 tech via the web form and talk to them directly.
That is how you get someone who can help.

You can usually still print if the LCD is the only problem, if you can get connected via an ethernet cable.
    (while you wait on parts/tickets/support)

If the Pi SD card is bad, nope... that won't help

Anyone following this thread has probably seen that it has gone a while without any updates. 1. I forgot all about it, and 2.My own personal opinion, Robo is done with the R2 / C2 with respect to development. The reasoning, most of the repositories there haven't been updated since September and it historically Robo doesn't seem to have any desire to look backwards. My other guess is that you will see the R2 / C2 orphaned in 2019 for some other new printer, no inside information, just a hunch.

Ditto opinion on that. Same as the R1 series. If it wernt for upgrades that NEEDED done to stay relevant over the years, the R1+ would never have happened. In my opinion it didn't happen because they wanted to spend the money developing (or borrowing community ideas) its because they had to. R2 and C2 dont seem to need that at this point. On to bigger and better things.

I'm not sure they could do another design that fast- but keeping with the same ole same these recent years wont end well if they dont :D

There are some alternative designs that they could consider. Even better would be to offer them side-by-side with the existing C2/R2 (rather than completely ditching one model to start another). Sure, it means having multiple assembly lines and costs a bit more.

What I really feel bad about, the LCD based RoboOS isn't all that bad. It still needs more work, but it is actually pretty reliable. If they would have spent more time making it more robust, adding features, they would have something that they could actually license to other manufacturers, or offer into the Public Domain. It is almost there.

it truly is a simple design that works well. If they could get rid of the lag and replace the screen with a real touch screen....frankly it would be kick ass.

Yeah the lag is all OctoPrint RoboTheme. As I mentioned, focus all current software development on updating RoboOS. Really they could look at some of the stuff on the forums and "borrow" the work already done. Instead of stupid additions to Marlin like G35 / G36.

The 5" Capacitive upgrade works. It was probably the third best upgrade I have done to my R2. Only slightly behind the E3Dv6 and the Titan Extruder mods.
