So I have been running pink pla from Robo3d and it was printing pretty amazingly. Now I have switched to pink pro from matterhackers, and I 'm getting z ribbing and other anomalies. The material is much different when compared to one another. The new material appears denser and stiffer.

I threw it in the oven (175F) for 10 minutes and bumped up the printing temp by another 5 degrees C.

Should I play with the material multiplier next. Right now it is at 90%?? Just looking for ideas.

If they are both PLA then you are doing it right. Temperature of the print is most likely the big variable.

The different materials (they're all different regardless of label) will act a bit differently..

BTW... PLA goes all woobly at about 90C... I don't oven PLA.

Wetness will end up giving you a rough surface with PLA.

Yeah, it started to get soft, luckily I pulled it out before it was too bad.

it'll start sticking to itself pretty quickly.. WELL before any drying effect takes place.

Are the diameters radically different? Could that cause it? Maybe if the new one was a bit thicker, it could be overextending a bit?

Spent 45 min at Matterhackers over lunch, and they were extremely helpful. Based on the advice given, and the discussion raising the temperature was recommended. I bumped it up from 212 to 220, and the system is printing much better with the given material.

The recommendation as based on the appearance that the layers did not appear to be melting together as much as they did on other prints with different materials.

Been printing 13hrs, and it looks a lot better.

Did you tell them to add a temp graph and show error messages without having to open terminal?

You know I run Simplify3D as though it were my religion (thank @Joey ). But since I end up going over there once a week anyway because I can not resist drooling over new toys, I'll let them know next time I'm there.
