My advice as always with Firmware on the Robo is to update if and only if you have an issue that is specifically addressed in the new version.

Yeah I don't plan on updating at least until I read the notes on it

If it is the V2 for the Robo R1+, skip it. Not worth it. @WheresWaldo is cooking up a much better version of the latest Marlin firmware for us Robo users that will give you much more than V2. But, if your machine is working and you don't have a specific issue you are trying to fix, just keep on going with what you have.

Really? Then I wonder what firmware it is thinking you need. Do you have couplers on your Z screws? If so, have you done a calibration cube and measured it? Might be the update the fixes the z steps for the 8mm threaded rods.

Yeah it has the couplers and the one on the right is wobbly. Was going to print a support for the rods and use them on the screws to stabilize it but since I am not quite dialed in yet will be waiting to do that

you may want to upgrade to the true leadscrews at some point if you are having z banding from the wobble. Best things is to make sure they are secured as possible. I did the support for the rod and it actually made my prints look worse. So yeah, regarding the firmware, you might not be on V3 and you will find the heights of your prints are a bit off. I got a refurbished R1 over a year ago and needed that update to fix that issue. Something to check out.

The print looks kind of melty. So 210 for PLA isn't horrible. I normally print around 195, but that depends on brand and such. However the top right corner you can see that looks really melty. Like the hotend was pressed into it or something. I wonder if that corner started lifting and created a lip that the hotend was rubbing against. Did the part loose adhesion and come lose from the plate?

Yeah I'm going to see if I can override it turning on after the first two layers and set it to come on after the first layer or half way through the first layer
Also going to scrape the leftover gluestick off the bed and apply new glue

not having the fan on for PLA on the first layer should be ok. You want the first layer to stick. Normally you would have the fan come on after the first layer is complete at 100% power. PLA needs cooling. What speed are you printing your first layer and second and above layers? Normally first layer is slower than the rest of the print.

I turn down the print to 58 % of the printer speed and try to leave it there for the rest of the print

What does the underside look like? Just checking first layer "smash". What are you using for adhesion? Glue stick, hairspray...

You may just need to adjust the Z offset down a bit.

Underside looks perfect. Nice and flat and even. Using gluestick

Well if it came off, then you might need to reduce the Z by .05 or so like @mark tomlinson mentioned or if the part was flaring up and got hung up on the nozzle it may have pulled on it. Failed prints are always heart breaking. I guess you'll just have to watch the next one print and hopefully there will be success.
