I've just installed an E3D v6 hotend, updated the firmware (Auto_Level_7_17_516inch) and printed a test cube.
The X and Y seem fine, but the Z is very short. It's about 17mm instead of 20mm
Is this an adjustment from the firmware (if yes, where would it be) or have I done something wrong.
    I am using an R1.
    Thanks in advance.
    George

You probably used the wrong firmware. That is the firmware for 5/16 rods, most R1 units are not 5/16 rods (the beta was 5/16 rods).

The only real differences in any of the firmware is the Z steps which is different because the printer models had different Z rods

The beta had 5/16 threaded rods, the R1 (almost all) had 8mm threaded rods and the R1+ had leadscrews. All have different Z steps. There were a few (very early) R1 units in the wild with 5/16 rods, but I rather doubt you have one.

Thanks for that, I will install the 8mm firmware.
