probably not, if they stepper drivers are correctly seated and connected it wouldn't cause an issue...or at least shouldn't. You can unplug them and see if the problem goes away(power off when working with the board, then power on when your clear). I had issues after I did the swap which is why I wrote up the instructions. the easiest way is to start unhooking small things like the end stops .... yes that was what I had wrong lol :D. Starting back at step one is a good idea.

If you miss the post on the end stops rather than connecting signal to ground through the switch are are potentially connecting + to ground through the switch. Like @Geof said, sanity check the connections.

Is there a specific stepper motor driver module that needs to be used and if so could this cause a communication issue? I see there are DRV8825 and A4988.

Is correct and NO. It would not affect the Arduino Communications unless smoke was involved.

Okay well sounds like I need to just backtrack and reconnect everything to the T again. No problem at all ;)

I will report back later tonight, thanks again for all the help @Geof and @mark tomlinson. I appreciate you guys taking the time to guide me through this...

Here is a close up of my endstop connections. If you see anything off let me know in the meantime....

So I rewired the old stock robo RAMPS up for a test and it is still saying "Attempting to connect". Now this is with the stock RAMPS that was working juat no heat bed.

Not connecting in any software. I'm stumped and now the stock board isn't even working. Here are my connections.

I tried rearranging the motor wires since you said that was a crap shoot and still just hangs on attempting to connect..

The RAMPS is not usually at fault if the Arduino will not connect.
Have you tried connecting with NO RAMPS installed at all?

Yes I just tried that as well and same result. Blinks when plugging in then just hangs on attempting to connect with no connection.

Been too long since I used it, but normal for the arudino is 115k baud.

Make sure that it is on the COM port you think it is. If you swapped the Arduino board at some point that COM port may have moved.
    It would on Windows...

This is the stock Arduino, printer is only a few weeks old. Maybe completed 15 20 prints then the heat bed stopped working. Was working before I tried the other Guru RAMPS now I can't even connect with either RAMPS.

Time to reflash firmware? Any guidance please I desperately in need of a solution.

I've tried windows and Linux desktop PC and laptop multiple USB cords and a powered hub. I did not think this would happen 3 weeks into owning it.

See if you can flash the firmware.
If you can then the Arduino is working correctly and any issues are elsewhere.
