Henry, I think I need you to come build me a bomb shelter. :D That thing is beefy!
I bet it sure will do the job though.
Maybe you should consider some kind of a method to get cooler air to the electronics?

in the time since you replied with this message I found that I do have some usability out of .stl files in SW i just didn't know how at that point in time. I have actually used the stl to make sketches from since they are lines after all and with those lines teh sketches can be very accurate you just have to be careful but they are useful after all

When I get my printer, will review the latest mods on this site, then see what could be done.

So far I have not needed a heat chamber. No lifting on either PLA or ABS. I have been using Boro Glass + AquaNet Hairspray.

I am curious about one thing. how much of an impact is having the heated build chamber on things like the cooling fans for the hot end and the cooling fan for the part I mean the source for the any fan is gonna be heated air which means that heated air is simply moving past the object the fan is pointing to doesn't defeat the purpose of the fans. If so what about when certain things like the hotend and the part require cooling for whatever reason?

I think they would still work, a fan on a hot day still cools you right? Even though it's blowing the same hot air. Of course it won't cool it as much as blowing colder room temp air at the hot print.

it doesn't really it makes the moisture on your skin(sweat) to evaporate which causes the skin to cool

In order to cool you need a hot to be cooled and a cooler air to do the cooling the fan just circulates it however in the heated chamber the hot end is still much hotter that the air so that would indeed work but for cooling a print off unless it was significantly hotter that the fanned air wouldn't do too much.

looks like you modeled it after the momus cnc router. http://www.momuscnc.com/
but a simple boxed frame would have sufficed. That's a lot work for a build chamber. Looks good though.

Henry this is a Bad Ass heat chamber....
You wouldn't happens to have written plan for this would you? Would be a great contribution if you could post them....

Yup. I am actually thinking about building one of those CNC machines.

Correct as Cambo says .... did reverse engineering with different mods.. no plans.. just looked at the pics and started going at it. I used 1/2 blonde plywood.. It is heavy duty in all sense... weight, protection... still have a few more hardware items to be delivered, some electrical items,Clear Polycarbonate Sheet to install, ...
I could provide over all dimensions if someone wants them...
But still awaiting for delivery of my printer... possible in August I hear.

Lol. That usually how I tackle projects too. I just have the basic idea, sizes in mind and start building.

    Some more updates
first/second image , filament will be in its own containment environment
Third image, it will be position near the printer unit to supply the filament.

You might want to consider placing RoBo in there without the top shell on it. It will make working on it much easier. I think it is just cosmetic anyway.

I am curious where all these heat chambers are being built around the country are certain environmental conditions present that really require it such as humidity extreme cold periods, extreme hot periods just trying to see if there is a pattern.

If those of you who have them could let us know the locations that would be great

I am looking into building a heated chamber for my printer when it arrives. As such I am going to start designing one now. I will post drawings, solidworks files, and .STEP files of the geometry and a electronics part list once I have completed my preliminary design. At that point I would love to get critiques and suggestions on improving the design. I am going to be designing for low cost and ease of assembly so I am looking at what will probably be a box with a window and door with cutouts for fans and a temperature control system.

On the subject of the Makerbot 2's chamber. Makerbot has been bought by Stratasys.
