Great work on the quadcopter. Glad to see I'm not the only one who had the idea to try and hook some water balloons up to it. Haha. I was thinking it would be quite a bit of fun to get 4 or 5 people with some quadcopters that could have water balloons attached to them, then go to war on each other.

    Hi Peter, looks good, but...
This Microcopters are in general very crash resistent due to their light weight, but very sensitive for additional high payload. The copter should lift at maximum half throttle - above he is overloaded and not any more very responsive...
Even it it falls down on a green field from 2-3 meters or above, you should not be able to damage it badly... if you were fast enough to set throttle to zero, Props not any more spinning.

But how is your Micro flying? Now you are getting infected by the Copter Virus and this costs:)

    Br,

    Matthias

My Exciter flies so well I don't even need the prop protectors

I was also able to fly it with 2 batteries onboard. Got lazy to remove the other one and just used an elastic to hold it in place.

    Peter,
    congratulations! :)

Then time to go the next step and feel the difference what a higher power Copter means... - a lot more fun because outside even at stronger wind flyable and much much more power....see my previous setups with the parts I have ordered from Hobbyking:)
I suggest to upgrade to a programmable 6-8 channel Radio - e.g.the Spektrum DX6i (can be sold later if too small), and to print and equip one of the above 250 size quad- or tri copters... Tri copter performance I can report next or over next week - depending to the parts arrival from Hobbyking.
Believe already now, that the TRI will become one of my favorites...

One advantage I have is that my LiteHawk Exciter is good for outdoor as well.

I would like to get one with a camera. Found one selling for around $300 complete with the camera. Not sure if it comes with the radio.

Will have to save up for that one. Back burner for now.

I prefer the old analog radio since they communicate long distances, line of sight. These 2.4mhz radios are good for 20 yards and that's it.

    Peter...???
you should update youself;-) - But everything up to you of course...

My 2.4GHz Radio goes 3-4 miles without problems, including the tememetry back channel - e.g. the Grupner MX20., or a Spektrum full range radio/with receiver.
You can not compare a "e.g. 30 bucks Toy Radio" with something semi profesional... An old analog Radio is more than unsafe nowadys - especially for long FPV distance flights - someone on the same frequency and your model is gone/crashed. This can not happen with the digital coded 2.4GHz technology with up to 200 people flying at the same time/field. Some crazy guys are flying FPV copters up to 20 miles and behind, using UHF Radios and receivers...

    Br,

    Matthias

Yea, the 2.4 GHZ conversion module we added to our (really old) Futaba FM radios,. works for a really (really) long distance.
Plus, channel wars... they are over.

It's a tube with a lot of complex geometry :). Sorry can't say more. But it printed beautifully.

The ABS and PLA Killer is PETG!

My latest print with PETG - the parts are incredibly strong but still flexible.
Layerbonding not an issue - layers melt 100% together - the vase directly watertight.
The few black dots are PLA deposit from the nozzle.

HotEnd: E3D V6, 0,4 mm nozzle at 260 degree celsius and 2000mm/min printspeed
Printbed 75 degree - with or without hairspray makes no big difference
    Zero warping or stringing
    I love my Robo 3D :)

Now I printed a nice and great flying glider with PETG - the gilder survived two frontal crashes in our sport hall without any damages today... Just 2 layers printed for the wings..

You will love this stuff - but also PETG has a sweet spot mainly depending to the relation print speed and hot end temp (as every filament) - however, it´s easy printing as with PLA...

And no smell, it´s not hazardous, but environment friedly, etc., etc...

    Matthias
