Didn't the later batches of printers themselves have some sort of connectors already?
Also, any pointers to the actual issue with those connectors?

There's a number of working theories. It seems to be a combination of things that causes it.

So, I found the thread about the problem with connector overheating. Could a bigger connector with thicker wires be used? Or is it pretty much ill advised anyway?

You sure could. I use one rated to 30A on my 20A bed.

Like others have suggested I will just put in a pair of 30A Anderson PowerPole connectors, that is if I ever get my bed in (ordered April 11o_O also).

I really hope they ship them. If I had know it would take this long I would have just printed and put it together myself months ago. The only part I really wanted was the 4mm thick bed because my old one is kind of concave. Then again the bed leveling firmware and mod should take care of that.

Make sure you take extra care in crimping them and give the wires a strong tug to test the strength. Also make sure you have some strain relief on the heated bed side of the connections like is shown on previous pages of this thread.

Filed under: Don't exactly know where this belongs:

One particular spoiler to your work:

Get your smooth rod brackets on correctly or your servos will have a hard time. You'll find out right when you try to move the Z-axis.

Why: The machined rod holders/brackets are a bit offset.

Make sure your brackets are both oriented to be closest to the threaded rod.

    And eat Cheetos.

    Other assorted notes:
    • Magnets are polar. Don't mess gluing them up....I had the good fortune to have mine already on - but I still reversed the dang bed.
    • The firmware dated May 19 - reverses the Y-axis back to what it should be. Turn off your printer, disconnect the power, and reverse the Y at the board. Doing otherwise may burn out the circuit or stepper.
    • The paint on the bottom will scratch. Dang it.
Enjoy the permanent power of Cheetos.

Does anyone know when they are due to ship the Y axis up-grade kit. I paid on 11th April and have heard nothing since.

    Order No 2401

I'm very frustrated waiting for mine as well... it's the middle of August! @Mike K - can you ask them for us? They, as we know, don't respond very well...at all.

They ran out of middle plates so he's making them. They also had to place another glass order from china. Unfortunately that's all I know.

In other news they're hoping to be shipping next business day come Monday. All back ordered printers are hoping to go out Friday. This will give more man hours to this project

Thanks Mike, I'm in the same boat as the others. If I hadn't wanted the thicker glass I would have just put it together myself last April.

Yeah, thanks, Mike. Still, it is disheartening after all this time. I've had a cracked bed that is taped together, just lost the bed thermistor the other day, been waiting to do a major overhaul while doing the bed rails... but I'm still printing at least. My overhaul mountain grows each day it seems and I have been waiting on the bed rails... waiting... waiting... in the rain... I hate when I get like this.................
