btw, from what I can tell the M3 bolts have a pitch of .5 and the M4 bolts have a pitch of .7

Yeah those were indicating length. Metric machine screws are generally just fine thread.

Actually those are coarse threads. Surprised me. They sounded fairly fine to me

 

Hmm ok, never seen any other alternatives listed so I assumed it was fine. Very close to NSF fine threads.

5 mm to 8 mm I got mine from http://www.reprapdiscount.com/mechanics/27-reprap-z-axis-couplers.html# as one of my originals was off centre.

 

Question: why do they have to be flexible? doesn't that contribute to the ribbing? im looking at mcmaster carr and the ridged couplers are looking alot more attractive.

thanks man im ordering some now. did this fix a ribbing issue for you? jsut curious

 

I did a lot of Ziggy's mods, metric rods, bearings in the couplers, steppa motors always on, smooth rod stabilisers and changed my couplers and I am pretty much happy with the results, very little waviness on my prints now. I also added a second parts cooling fan to help with overhangs and that helps an awful lot too
