    Hey Seshan,
I am planning to "clone the R3D because it is something I can compare with mine, thats how I set my learning process.
I really like the R3D and thats why I bought it (price was awesome too :) ).

I will keep asking until I get some official answer, for now I have bought screws (m3, m4), ball bearings, motors, RAMP 1.4, I have an Arduino Mega (hoping I dont have to buy the Taurino), I am shopping for hot end and I am printing the parts I can @ 100 microns, 50% infill. I will make my own hobbed screw: http://www.thingiverse.com/thing:23717

You see I am doing my part, hehehehe

tbh, i find this thread insulting to the robo 3D team
if it was on any other forum then i wouldn't care.

but to ask them for their product parts just not to buy it from them ?

you want them to make you one and have it hand delivered to your house as well ?

    Thamer,

First of all I already bought one and I have been using to print parts for another.

Second, this is a OPEN SOURCE project, meaning it is OPEN. Just so you know most of the 3d printers out there are based on some form of the Reprap, even Robo, and that's ok.

I find amusing that you find insulting, since you really didn't explain why.

Funny thing is that I have been asking about this and no one from R3d staff granted me an "official" answer regarding this matter, instead I have to explain to people that asking for the BOM it should not be a problem (they describe most of the parts during the assembly video and they have the firmware available here as well). Why hold of information that really shouldn't matter and if so why call yourself OPEN SOURCE????

About buy from then, what if I need a replacement part???
did you check the website's store to see if they sell it???
    Exactly !!!

I have been talking with technical support about some spare parts and I cant get a definitive answer.

How can you build a user's base leaving then hanging like this????
Am I the only one here that is crazy to think that we should have this information???
What if I want to mod my printer???

I bought my first printer, now I am planning to learn how to build one and nothing more logical to use mine as reference.

Since you got insulted with my post I have to ask you something: are you related with Robo 3D??? if so please let then know that one of their customers would like to have some answers regarding the printer and he would really appreciate some attention from "official" channels.

    Thanks

Thamer I disagree. When they released the part files they gave us permission to recreate exactly what they designed. They appreciate open source work.

Thanks -PC for doing the leg work! No response from Coby, so when I get my printer back tomorrow I can see what I can do to help measure.

    Awesome,

    thanks Mike

But know that are some gaps from the videos, some missing components, at least from the videos on their youtube channel. I am not aware of any extra video.

I also email Braydon, asking for some feedback on that matter, let's see what happens.

If they're not going to release the information then they shouldn't call their printer open source.

    Thats exactly my point.
I just fell that is really bad when you dont even care to talk wit your customers.Just come and say: "we are notr going to provide with anything". I will get pissed but at least they were respectul enough to give me an answer.

It R3d it is really a derivative from Mendel 90: http://reprap.org/wiki/Mendel90, then they should respect the GLP license: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/GNU_General_Public_License

"The GNU General Public License (GNU GPL or GPL) is the most widely used[5] free software license, which guarantees end users (individuals, organizations, companies) the freedoms to use, study, share (copy), and modify the software. Software that ensures that these rights are retained is called free software. The license was originally written by Richard Stallman of the Free Software Foundation (FSF) for the GNU project."

maybe I am going to have keep posting until they answer. LOL

You know the saddest part? This is all for nothing, again why such secrecy to something that you already disclose 80% anyway. It just piss me off.

They don't read many threads on here so you're crying to deaf ears unfortunately.

not really, they do show up here often.

I have posting the same thing on the support and I was hoping to get more people engaged into this matter. The more people bugging then at this point the better. :)

Do I have to do the: "My fellows R3d friends, unite, because is the only way to achieve the greater good" speech??? LOL

I will build one, publish and get over with.

Try the private tech support forum. At least there they may answer you. They have answered me there (well, once) within a couple of days.

The entire printer plastics is on Thingiverse so open--yeah, that was the intent.
People to answer questions? Not so much.

    Good luck.

The models on thingiverse are incomplete. I've been working on my own recreations and will be slowly building up the model until I have a complete assembly in solidworks with every nut and bolt. (Hopefully)

    hey Mark,

Actually the little plastic pieces that support the smooth rods on the middle plate aren't there. I think I saw someone talking about that but I haven't had the time to look for it.
