Mar 8, 2015 at 1:26 AM - Bill Monroe: hmmm
Mar 8, 2015 at 1:26 AM - Ben R: i have my settings tuned for PET.. print that at 90%
Mar 8, 2015 at 1:27 AM - Mike Glass: Ive tried 75 with xt still get globs
Mar 8, 2015 at 1:27 AM - Ben R: hmm.. did you set your steps up with pet? it seems to act different on the hobbed bolt.
Mar 8, 2015 at 1:27 AM - Bill Monroe: which slicer do you use?
    Mar 8, 2015 at 1:27 AM - Ben R: s3d or slic3r
    Mar 8, 2015 at 1:27 AM - Bill Monroe: im using S3D
Mar 8, 2015 at 1:28 AM - Ben R: I've found Esun has just the best damn filament out there.. regardless of price.
Mar 8, 2015 at 1:28 AM - Ben R: they also happen to be competative
Mar 8, 2015 at 1:28 AM - Ben R: petg is harder to find now a days.
Mar 8, 2015 at 1:28 AM - Ben R: sold out in some places
Mar 8, 2015 at 1:29 AM - Mike Glass: I was going to try some Esun petg clear.
Mar 8, 2015 at 1:29 AM - Ben R: ah it was pet+ from madesolid. that stuff was like printing with snot
Mar 8, 2015 at 1:29 AM - Ben R: and expensive to boot. I misread thought I was paying 40 bucks for a kg.. it was a pound
Mar 8, 2015 at 1:30 AM - Bill Monroe: what print speed did you use?
Mar 8, 2015 at 1:31 AM - Ben R: looks like amazon has all the petg but clear.
Mar 8, 2015 at 1:31 AM - Mike Glass: yea I see that
Mar 8, 2015 at 1:31 AM - Ben R: I printed the pet+ at 60mm/s if you were axin me
Mar 8, 2015 at 1:31 AM - Mike Glass: I really need clear
    Mar 8, 2015 at 1:31 AM - Bill Monroe: I was :)
Mar 8, 2015 at 1:32 AM - Bill Monroe: pretty fast
    Mar 8, 2015 at 1:32 AM - Ben R: Probably would do a lot better at 120mm/s
    Mar 8, 2015 at 1:32 AM - Ben R: oh.. that's normal speed ain't it?
Mar 8, 2015 at 1:32 AM - Ben R: 3600mm/min is what robo comes dressed as
    Mar 8, 2015 at 1:32 AM - Bill Monroe: i'm usully a half that
Mar 8, 2015 at 1:33 AM - Bill Monroe: could be part of your ringing
Mar 8, 2015 at 1:33 AM - Ben R: well.. there's your slow complaints. the robo will do .3 "not shiny" stuff at 120 easy
Mar 8, 2015 at 1:33 AM - Mike Glass: I have had good luck with solutech also
Mar 8, 2015 at 1:33 AM - Ben R: I don't find much of any improvement going slower. a bit of ringing can be mitigated at 30mm/s but then why not just order whatever from amazon!
Mar 8, 2015 at 1:33 AM - Bill Monroe: i'll try putting it in over drive
Mar 8, 2015 at 1:34 AM - Ben R: over 120 I bet some belt skipping starts to happen.. but once I'm bowden... I'm going for giga-mm/s
Mar 8, 2015 at 1:34 AM - Bill Monroe: maybe is the colorfabb,, I think I remember Matt saying go slow
    Mar 8, 2015 at 1:34 AM - Ben R: maybe just m/s
    Mar 8, 2015 at 1:34 AM - Bill Monroe: i'm bowden now :)
    Mar 8, 2015 at 1:35 AM - Ben R: yea, I saw
Mar 8, 2015 at 1:35 AM - Mike Glass: Yes yiou have to go slow with Colorfabb
Mar 8, 2015 at 1:35 AM - Ben R: all you guys and your designer filaments
Mar 8, 2015 at 1:35 AM - Mike Glass: another reason to shit can it
Mar 8, 2015 at 1:35 AM - Bill Monroe: Mike has an XT issue :)
Mar 8, 2015 at 1:35 AM - Mike Glass: Just not impressed.
Mar 8, 2015 at 1:36 AM - Ben R: I have tried a few of the high end filaments... they seem to offer qualities that might be nice, but not for the price or ease of print
Mar 8, 2015 at 1:37 AM - Ben R: I also wonder how this carbon fiber filament works. In what is the fiber suspended? How small are these pieces of carbon. Is there a benefit?
Mar 8, 2015 at 1:38 AM - Mike Glass: I need something to speed print, at .6 layer height
Mar 8, 2015 at 1:38 AM - Mike Glass: I have translucent blue loaded and ready
    Mar 8, 2015 at 1:39 AM - Ben R: the petg?
    Mar 8, 2015 at 1:39 AM - Ben R: so you're really at a .8 nozzle diameter? .6 should go fine right?
Mar 8, 2015 at 1:40 AM - Mike Glass: Yea .6 rocks. I can build fast. justpla is the brand of PLA im using
Mar 8, 2015 at 1:41 AM - Ben R: thing with the PET, it seems to really expand on heating. (which is strange since it doesn't shrink?) so you can get .. i dunno 2mm/s ooze.
Mar 8, 2015 at 1:41 AM - Ben R: I tried massive retraction, it helped a bit, but it didn't seem to start nicely when un retracted.
Mar 8, 2015 at 1:42 AM - Ben R: good brand? Looks like a decent price
Mar 8, 2015 at 1:43 AM - Bill Monroe: ok priting at ludicrous speed
Mar 8, 2015 at 1:44 AM - Mike Glass: I like it, the filament one color I have is kinda not straight but never has broke on me.
    Mar 8, 2015 at 1:44 AM - Ben R: this is a fun model http://www.thingiverse.com/thing:694406
Mar 8, 2015 at 1:45 AM - Ben R: now one thing about ludicrous speed... I put my last perimeter at .5 luda
    Mar 8, 2015 at 1:46 AM - Bill Monroe: http://vaughnlive.tv/socalplanedoc
    Mar 8, 2015 at 1:48 AM - Ben R: is that just 60mm/s?
Mar 8, 2015 at 1:48 AM - Ben R: hard to tell with the frame rate how fast it is
    Mar 8, 2015 at 1:48 AM - Bill Monroe: ya 3600mm/m
    Mar 8, 2015 at 1:48 AM - Ben R: bam..
Mar 8, 2015 at 1:49 AM - Ben R: at .6 eh? that goes hella fast.
    Mar 8, 2015 at 1:49 AM - Ben R: I'm getting me some big-az nozzle
    Mar 8, 2015 at 1:49 AM - Bill Monroe: .9 extrusion
Mar 8, 2015 at 1:49 AM - Bill Monroe: infill looks ugly
Mar 8, 2015 at 1:50 AM - Ben R: infill? ha.. amateur hour.. perimeters and bridging!
Mar 8, 2015 at 1:50 AM - Ben R: no.. what do you mean ugly?
Mar 8, 2015 at 1:50 AM - Ben R: like its not solid?
Mar 8, 2015 at 1:52 AM - Bill Monroe: just rough
Mar 8, 2015 at 1:52 AM - Ben R: I like the floppy limiting switch..
Mar 8, 2015 at 1:52 AM - Ben R: hmm.. rough... like over extruded?
Mar 8, 2015 at 1:52 AM - Bill Monroe: ya like that? :)
Mar 8, 2015 at 1:53 AM - Bill Monroe: i dunno.. it's calibrated and running a .9 so I dont think its over
Mar 8, 2015 at 1:54 AM - Bill Monroe: the blobs I have on the permiter so maybe what I need is more agressive retraction
Mar 8, 2015 at 1:56 AM - Bill Monroe: you get the esun on amazon?
    Mar 8, 2015 at 3:09 AM - Ben R: i get everything at amazon
Mar 8, 2015 at 3:09 AM - Ben R: except parts.. I get those from china
    Mar 8, 2015 at 3:09 AM - Ben R: consumables at amazon
Mar 8, 2015 at 3:09 AM - Ben R: also... their food selection isn't great
Mar 8, 2015 at 3:10 AM - Bill Monroe: k they apparently have limited color choices
Mar 8, 2015 at 3:10 AM - Ben R: sorry.. ran off for some salad
Mar 8, 2015 at 3:11 AM - Ben R: colors... sorry you can't print your princesses in pink. No.. they are limited.. but I don't care.. I'm all about the primary colors
Mar 8, 2015 at 3:11 AM - Bill Monroe: i was looking for natural
    Mar 8, 2015 at 3:11 AM - Ben R: when i get dual extruding...
Mar 8, 2015 at 3:11 AM - Bill Monroe: cuz I like my filament the way I like my women :)
Mar 8, 2015 at 3:11 AM - Ben R: esun pla? they do a khaki
Mar 8, 2015 at 3:12 AM - Ben R: so.. speaking of buying things... Is there a difference in the e3d for 20 bucks and the e3d for 70
Mar 8, 2015 at 3:13 AM - Ben R: round and brown?... sorry.. missed the "like my women" part
Mar 8, 2015 at 3:13 AM - Mike Glass: http://vaughnlive.tv/coolreactions printing at .6 the robo vase
    Mar 8, 2015 at 3:13 AM - Ben R: so how'd that print go?
Mar 8, 2015 at 3:13 AM - Bill Monroe: ugly still blobby
    Mar 8, 2015 at 3:14 AM - Ben R: shit can
Mar 8, 2015 at 3:15 AM - Ben R: or keep moving settings.
    Mar 8, 2015 at 3:15 AM - Ben R: what infill was it 100?
    Mar 8, 2015 at 3:15 AM - Ben R: I don't think a lot of things do 100 well
Mar 8, 2015 at 3:19 AM - Bill Monroe: moved some settings.... better....50% infill.
Mar 8, 2015 at 3:19 AM - Bill Monroe: my stratasys machines both do 100%
    Mar 8, 2015 at 3:19 AM - Ben R: yea. I have had a bit of trouble with 100%. i do 90 to get 100
Mar 8, 2015 at 3:20 AM - Ben R: but usually, I just put my perimeters to a few mm thick and leave the interior empty.. but that greatly depends on the model
Mar 8, 2015 at 3:21 AM - Ben R: those 23 series motors are quite a bit larger. Don't think I can adapt them into the robo easily. about twice as big
Mar 8, 2015 at 3:23 AM - Bill Monroe: naw.. the robo cant handle them anyway
Mar 8, 2015 at 3:23 AM - Bill Monroe: i put 34s on my homebrew.. just becuase I had them

Mar 8, 2015 at 3:24 AM - Ben R: hmm... i assume you had to go into a different parts box for the controllers
Mar 8, 2015 at 3:25 AM - Bill Monroe: already had those too
Mar 8, 2015 at 3:25 AM - Ben R: of course... and you are running your own firmware
Mar 8, 2015 at 3:25 AM - Ben R: well.. software controller yea?
Mar 8, 2015 at 3:26 AM - Bill Monroe: not exactly firmware..
Mar 8, 2015 at 3:26 AM - Bill Monroe: i wrote my own gcode interpreter in Labview
Mar 8, 2015 at 3:26 AM - Ben R: yea... i don't know much about it, but I read the overview
Mar 8, 2015 at 3:27 AM - Ben R: but when it becomes self aware....
Mar 8, 2015 at 3:27 AM - Bill Monroe: put it on a PLC target.. drove the amps using a digital output module
Mar 8, 2015 at 3:27 AM - Bill Monroe: ya.. i know.. my son teases me about being the real skynet
Mar 8, 2015 at 3:28 AM - Bill Monroe: but I make surgical robots.. thanks to R&D I get a lot of nifty stuff for free
    Mar 8, 2015 at 3:33 AM - Ben R: hmm neat
Mar 8, 2015 at 3:33 AM - Ben R: I have a friend that makes robots for NIH, but I actually brought up the steppers with him. He says he's only ever heard of nema 17. granted he's not an ME, he just happens to be atypical medical guy.
Mar 8, 2015 at 3:34 AM - Ben R: that is, one that can understand things outside medicine. Didn't grow up in a "my son's gunna be a doctor" track
Mar 8, 2015 at 3:36 AM - Bill Monroe: most Medical robotics is lab automation.. 17s arr the norm there
Mar 8, 2015 at 3:36 AM - Bill Monroe: boring stuff as robots go
Mar 8, 2015 at 3:37 AM - Bill Monroe: guys that do lab robots can only count to three since that's all the axis they use
    Mar 8, 2015 at 3:37 AM - Bill Monroe: :)
Mar 8, 2015 at 3:41 AM - Ben R: probably only 2 for most of them
    Mar 8, 2015 at 3:41 AM - Ben R: up down... rotate
Mar 8, 2015 at 3:42 AM - Bill Monroe: ya.. better than digging a ditch though
Mar 8, 2015 at 3:43 AM - Bill Monroe: my biggest machine had 20 axis
    Mar 8, 2015 at 3:43 AM - Bill Monroe: nono 28
Mar 8, 2015 at 3:43 AM - Bill Monroe: when we tore down that machine is when I got all the motors :)
Mar 8, 2015 at 3:43 AM - Ben R: neato... I get pens and staples
Mar 8, 2015 at 3:44 AM - Bill Monroe: pens are gud
Mar 8, 2015 at 3:44 AM - Bill Monroe: much better print this time
Mar 8, 2015 at 3:45 AM - Ben R: better than slow though?
Mar 8, 2015 at 3:45 AM - Bill Monroe: actually, I dont think the speed had any effect, good or bad. I think it was the much more agressive retract that fixed it
    Mar 8, 2015 at 3:46 AM - Ben R: ok..
Mar 8, 2015 at 3:46 AM - Bill Monroe: tiny bit of hairs though, I'm gunna back down thr temp 5 degrees and try it again
Mar 8, 2015 at 3:46 AM - Ben R: you can't "not hairs" with something like pet
Mar 8, 2015 at 3:46 AM - Bill Monroe: slowed the infill a bit.. it looks perfect now.. still doing ludicrous speed on the preimeters
Mar 8, 2015 at 3:47 AM - Ben R: I found that I got less hairs at higher temps actually. Its so viscoelastic, it needs to be thin to bring the hairs down to a nano level
Mar 8, 2015 at 3:47 AM - Bill Monroe: ya, when I ean PET on the hex they were bald as I am... cooler temps fixed it
Mar 8, 2015 at 3:47 AM - Bill Monroe: Matt gave me that intel
    Mar 8, 2015 at 3:47 AM - Ben R: What is cooler?
Mar 8, 2015 at 3:47 AM - Bill Monroe: and incremental experiemts with this solid
    Mar 8, 2015 at 3:47 AM - Bill Monroe: 235
    Mar 8, 2015 at 3:48 AM - Ben R: that is low
Mar 8, 2015 at 3:48 AM - Ben R: although it will extrude at 180
Mar 8, 2015 at 3:49 AM - Bill Monroe: the G in PETG might be the reason it goes hot
    Mar 8, 2015 at 3:51 AM - jbigler1986: Could I add 2 50mm fans? Or is 40 the max
Mar 8, 2015 at 3:51 AM - Bill Monroe: if it fits, it ships
    Mar 8, 2015 at 3:52 AM - Bill Monroe: 40 is plenty
Mar 8, 2015 at 3:54 AM - Ben R: smaller ones are too loud. 40 is plenty volume at near imperceptible volume.
Mar 8, 2015 at 3:54 AM - Ben R: well.. you get that those are homonyms
Mar 8, 2015 at 3:55 AM - Ben R: The G also makes it hydrophobic
    Mar 8, 2015 at 3:55 AM - jbigler1986: OK. Getting new fans
Mar 8, 2015 at 3:57 AM - Ben R: heck.. for the filament cooler.. just set a fan up next to the machine.
Mar 8, 2015 at 3:58 AM - Bill Monroe: it's afraid of water?
    Mar 8, 2015 at 3:58 AM - Ben R: yes
    Mar 8, 2015 at 3:59 AM - Ben R: wait.. wouldn't that be hygrophobia?
    Mar 8, 2015 at 4:01 AM - Bill Monroe: man.. i dunno
Mar 8, 2015 at 4:01 AM - Bill Monroe: so you have to take extra steps to keep it dry?
Mar 8, 2015 at 4:02 AM - Ben R: no.. that's the thing. sits on my floor not getting wet.. while my ABS/PLA sits in a pelican case with all sorts of desiccants and gets wet
Mar 8, 2015 at 4:08 AM - Bill Monroe: ok
Mar 8, 2015 at 4:13 AM - jbigler1986: Found different brand 40mm fans at fry's that actually has the color coded wires. Also pushes 6.8cfm vs 5cfm
Mar 8, 2015 at 4:13 AM - Bill Monroe: I think that would be non-hygroscopic
Mar 8, 2015 at 4:14 AM - jbigler1986: Now I just need to clean and tighten nozzle when I get home
Mar 8, 2015 at 4:16 AM - jbigler1986: Anybody really recommend a software to screen capture as well as stream my webcam?
    Mar 8, 2015 at 4:16 AM - jbigler1986: I use ustream producer for webcam
Mar 8, 2015 at 4:20 AM - Mike Glass: JB did you see my feed
    Mar 8, 2015 at 4:21 AM - jbigler1986: I didn't
    Mar 8, 2015 at 4:21 AM - jbigler1986: What was on it
Mar 8, 2015 at 4:22 AM - Mike Glass: Printing the robo vase at .6
    Mar 8, 2015 at 4:22 AM - Mike Glass: http://vaughnlive.tv/coolreactions
Mar 8, 2015 at 4:23 AM - Bill Monroe: I use wirecast to produce, and vaughnlive to stream
Mar 8, 2015 at 4:23 AM - Bill Monroe: cuz, free is for me :)
Mar 8, 2015 at 4:24 AM - Mike Glass: might have to try that
    Mar 8, 2015 at 4:24 AM - jbigler1986: Me too
    Mar 8, 2015 at 4:24 AM - Ben R: https://researchthetopic.wikispaces.com/The+difference+between+hydrophobic+and+hydrophilic+Part+2
Mar 8, 2015 at 4:24 AM - Bill Monroe: wirecast isnt free. but if you know where to get it.. its 20bux
Mar 8, 2015 at 4:25 AM - Bill Monroe: I think Shane H is full of malarky
Mar 8, 2015 at 4:28 AM - Bill Monroe: ok, one last test and I'm gunna go work on my plane
    Mar 8, 2015 at 4:31 AM - jbigler1986: I can't even remember the last time I paid for software
    Mar 8, 2015 at 4:33 AM - Ben R: mmm hmmm
Mar 8, 2015 at 4:35 AM - jbigler1986: What kind of plane do you have
Mar 8, 2015 at 4:36 AM - Mike Glass: how do you set your z height in repetier
Mar 8, 2015 at 4:37 AM - Bill Monroe: 1959 Bellanca Cruisemaster, 1927 Ryan Broughm, 1976 Cessna Skylane
    Mar 8, 2015 at 4:37 AM - jbigler1986: Offset?
Mar 8, 2015 at 4:37 AM - Bill Monroe: OK, test failed but its my fault, forgot to turn the fans on :(
Mar 8, 2015 at 4:38 AM - Mike Glass: no so I dont print anyting over 7.25 inches as the fans limit the height.
Mar 8, 2015 at 4:38 AM - Ben R: not on my case they don't
    Mar 8, 2015 at 4:39 AM - Ben R: bwahahahaha
Mar 8, 2015 at 4:39 AM - Ben R: the whole robo is pretty much just mounted to that black platform right? I may just junk the whole case in the next couple weeks
Mar 8, 2015 at 4:40 AM - Mike Glass: I might route mine out bigger.
Mar 8, 2015 at 4:41 AM - Mike Glass: The cover isnt screwed on anyways
    Mar 8, 2015 at 4:43 AM - Ben R: mine is
    Mar 8, 2015 at 4:43 AM - Ben R: http://community.robo3d.com/index.php?attachments/img_1403-jpg.6613/
    Mar 8, 2015 at 4:43 AM - Ben R: [IMG]
Mar 8, 2015 at 4:44 AM - Ben R: I think the white plastic bits detract from it. they may just become refuse. Aluminium or steel . z wobble my arse. I'll weld those rods on.
Mar 8, 2015 at 4:44 AM - Ben R: maybe set the whole thing in concrete?
Mar 8, 2015 at 4:46 AM - Mike Glass: yea you could use rebar for the z bars..lol
Mar 8, 2015 at 4:48 AM - Ben R: oh. the z rods are plenty sturdy.. but I think they may get a few feet taller......
    Mar 8, 2015 at 5:54 AM - jbigler1986: ok
Mar 8, 2015 at 5:54 AM - jbigler1986: trying to tighten my nozzle
    Mar 8, 2015 at 5:57 AM - jbigler1986: it keeps spinning
Mar 8, 2015 at 5:57 AM - Ben R: hey hey.. keep it clean
    Mar 8, 2015 at 5:57 AM - Ben R: hmm.. no...

    Mar 8, 2015 at 5:57 AM - Ben R: you stripped it
Mar 8, 2015 at 5:57 AM - Ben R: its a tight fit. but no more than a few inch pounds
Mar 8, 2015 at 5:57 AM - jbigler1986: well it just seems like it needs tightened alot
Mar 8, 2015 at 5:58 AM - jbigler1986: just clearing off material from the boot and it was turning. I thing it was super loose
    Mar 8, 2015 at 5:58 AM - TechSupportGo: yo
    Mar 8, 2015 at 5:59 AM - Ben R: its a coarse thread. it doesn't go far
Mar 8, 2015 at 6:01 AM - jbigler1986: where should the wrench go?
    Mar 8, 2015 at 6:01 AM - Ben R: so 2 wrenches
Mar 8, 2015 at 6:01 AM - jbigler1986: i just see threads when i look between the block and the exrruder
Mar 8, 2015 at 6:02 AM - Ben R: one on that silly 2 flat side nozzle.
    Mar 8, 2015 at 6:02 AM - Ben R: 1 on the silly 2 flat side tube
Mar 8, 2015 at 6:02 AM - Ben R: coming out of the heat sink
    Mar 8, 2015 at 6:02 AM - Ben R: the throat it's called
Mar 8, 2015 at 6:02 AM - jbigler1986: let me put my camera up to it
Mar 8, 2015 at 6:02 AM - Ben R: the heat sink itself is not securely fastened to the throat
    Mar 8, 2015 at 6:03 AM - jbigler1986: it's dirty i need to clean it
Mar 8, 2015 at 6:03 AM - Ben R: you can also use like a 18mm wrench and put it on the heater block.
    Mar 8, 2015 at 6:03 AM - jbigler1986: http://www.ustream.tv/channel/jbigler1986
Mar 8, 2015 at 6:03 AM - Ben R: screw the heat sink in to where the nozzle seats just a hair off the block, then heat and tighten
    Mar 8, 2015 at 6:03 AM - Ben R: action
Mar 8, 2015 at 6:04 AM - Ben R: so yea... right there, the threaded part of the throat has 2 flat sides
    Mar 8, 2015 at 6:04 AM - Ben R: its a 5.5mm
    Mar 8, 2015 at 6:04 AM - jbigler1986: ok i see that
Mar 8, 2015 at 6:05 AM - Ben R: that is the "other side" of your torque
Mar 8, 2015 at 6:05 AM - Ben R: the nozzle and the throat have to be seated against eachother inside the heater block
Mar 8, 2015 at 6:05 AM - jbigler1986: the little wrench goes there and then i need the other one on the nozzle?
    Mar 8, 2015 at 6:05 AM - Ben R: yerp
    Mar 8, 2015 at 6:05 AM - Ben R: i'm told it's a 6
Mar 8, 2015 at 6:05 AM - Ben R: seems to me it was an 8
    Mar 8, 2015 at 6:06 AM - jbigler1986: could i use plyers?
    Mar 8, 2015 at 6:06 AM - Ben R: I don't use silly 2 flat side things
    Mar 8, 2015 at 6:06 AM - Ben R: no... no no
    Mar 8, 2015 at 6:06 AM - Ben R: no no no
Mar 8, 2015 at 6:06 AM - jbigler1986: not on the threaded one
Mar 8, 2015 at 6:06 AM - Ben R: you'll just mash everything up and still not get it right
Mar 8, 2015 at 6:06 AM - Ben R: or break it off
Mar 8, 2015 at 6:06 AM - Ben R: the nozzle has 2 flat sides to it as well
Mar 8, 2015 at 6:06 AM - Ben R: (ps... order different nozzles)
    Mar 8, 2015 at 6:06 AM - jbigler1986: could i use adjustable wrench
Mar 8, 2015 at 6:07 AM - Ben R: not at that size.. not easily
    Mar 8, 2015 at 6:07 AM - Ben R: I like these nozzles http://www.amazon.com/Printer-0-4mm...UTF8&qid=1425848823&sr=8-1&keywords=.4+nozzle
    Mar 8, 2015 at 6:07 AM - Ben R: long hex area.
Mar 8, 2015 at 6:07 AM - Ben R: can put a carburetor wrench on them easily
Mar 8, 2015 at 6:08 AM - Ben R: you really should use a good 6 (or 8?) mm wrench on the nozzle.
Mar 8, 2015 at 6:08 AM - Ben R: you could try your luck with some visegrips
Mar 8, 2015 at 6:08 AM - Ben R: but likely break it off or mar it.
Mar 8, 2015 at 6:08 AM - Ben R: not a huge fail if you do. the block is universal
Mar 8, 2015 at 6:09 AM - Ben R: its the stupid hexagon heatsink/throat you have to worry about brekaing/stripping
Mar 8, 2015 at 6:10 AM - jbigler1986: i'm gonna use a small monkey wrench on the nozzle and the onther wrench on the other part. turn very lightly thoug
Mar 8, 2015 at 6:10 AM - Ben R: ok.. you have to have it hot when you do this.. which is part of the "it sucks to use wrong tools" part
Mar 8, 2015 at 6:10 AM - Ben R: it should be at 250C or better
    Mar 8, 2015 at 6:10 AM - Ben R: 235 if you haven't fixed your firmware
Mar 8, 2015 at 6:11 AM - Ben R: which means you have to have your thermistor in.
    Mar 8, 2015 at 6:11 AM - Ben R: kinda. initially anyway
Mar 8, 2015 at 6:11 AM - Ben R: so you know where the temp is. cuz.. over like 220.. your hand just burns instantly and can't judge the heat
    Mar 8, 2015 at 6:11 AM - Ben R: hot and like... 10 inch/lbs
    Mar 8, 2015 at 6:12 AM - Ben R: like you're setting the bearing in a ford 9 inch
    Mar 8, 2015 at 6:34 AM - jbigler1986: i think i'm going to order a new hot end. suggestion?
    Mar 8, 2015 at 6:34 AM - jbigler1986: also i need a new thermositer
    Mar 8, 2015 at 6:51 AM - Ben R: cheapo e3d v6 comes with thermistor
Mar 8, 2015 at 6:52 AM - Ben R: "oh but knock offs...." yadda yadda. I'm not convinced they're knock offs, and also, you can't screw up a pipe.
Mar 8, 2015 at 6:52 AM - Ben R: the heaters and all are generic
    Mar 8, 2015 at 6:56 AM - jbigler1986: link to a cheap one?
    Mar 8, 2015 at 6:56 AM - Ben R: http://www.ebay.com/itm/NEW-Reprap-...t=LH_DefaultDomain_0&var=&hash=item35e3fc0b77
Mar 8, 2015 at 6:57 AM - Ben R: oh.. they are under public license apparently
Mar 8, 2015 at 6:57 AM - Ben R: non commercial.. but it could be argued that 23 bucks to your door is cost
Mar 8, 2015 at 6:58 AM - Ben R: regardless a tenuous foothold on copywright
Mar 8, 2015 at 6:59 AM - Ben R: of course, you'll need a version with a fan I guess if you can't print your own fan shroud
Mar 8, 2015 at 7:03 AM - jbigler1986: Well I soldered the thermosister back together and it seems to work.
Mar 8, 2015 at 7:03 AM - jbigler1986: That damn boot is covered with junk though
    Mar 8, 2015 at 7:03 AM - jbigler1986: Do I need to use the boot with e3d?
    Mar 8, 2015 at 7:09 AM - jbigler1986: What about the volcano?
Mar 8, 2015 at 7:24 AM - Ben R: boot? oh.. yea.. any hotend could use some insulation
Mar 8, 2015 at 7:25 AM - Ben R: volcano.. not too familiar.. but it looks like it uses a goofy nozzle from what I've seen. I stick to what I can find cheap.
Mar 8, 2015 at 7:26 AM - Ben R: lots of people seem to wrap the hotend in heat resistant tape or glass insulation.
Mar 8, 2015 at 7:27 AM - Ben R: the boot covered with junk is because your hotend was leaking between the throat and the nozzle.
Mar 8, 2015 at 7:27 AM - Ben R: its under pressure and comes back up
    Mar 8, 2015 at 7:39 AM - jbigler1986: Hmm
Mar 8, 2015 at 7:40 AM - jbigler1986: I want it quick. Who has expedited shipping
Mar 8, 2015 at 7:41 AM - Ben R: ... no one? you can find em here and there
Mar 8, 2015 at 7:42 AM - Ben R: any j head will work.. more or less
    Mar 8, 2015 at 7:42 AM - jbigler1986: Isn't the hexend better than the j head
    Mar 8, 2015 at 7:44 AM - jbigler1986: http://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B00NA...&dpID=31VxfFE3APL&ref=plSrch&pi=AC_SY200_QL40
    Mar 8, 2015 at 7:46 AM - jbigler1986: Actually it's cheaper on their website
    Mar 8, 2015 at 8:08 AM - Ben R: the hexagon is a j head from what I understand
Mar 8, 2015 at 8:08 AM - Ben R: its all just a matter of heat. they're all the same till you want to go above 230
    Mar 8, 2015 at 8:09 AM - jbigler1986: I think i'm going to order it from matterhackers
Mar 8, 2015 at 8:09 AM - jbigler1986: either that or amazon since I have prime
    Mar 8, 2015 at 8:34 AM - Ben R: amazon or bust
    Mar 8, 2015 at 8:35 AM - Ben R: youre buying a e3d yea?
Mar 8, 2015 at 8:35 AM - Ben R: is your hexagon broken? the e3d won't be "better"... its the same thing really
Mar 8, 2015 at 8:55 AM - jbigler1986: Easier to clean and tighten if need be
    Mar 8, 2015 at 8:55 AM - jbigler1986: Installed the new fans
Mar 8, 2015 at 8:56 AM - jbigler1986: They turn off and on too. Connection is good.
    Mar 8, 2015 at 8:56 AM - Mike Glass: I see that
Mar 8, 2015 at 8:58 AM - Mike Glass: wonder if something got smoked from using all the wires.
    Mar 8, 2015 at 8:58 AM - jbigler1986: Shouldn't have
Mar 8, 2015 at 8:59 AM - Mike Glass: just try one
Mar 8, 2015 at 9:01 AM - jbigler1986: Stopped the print and enabled the fans. Let's see if they stay on
    Mar 8, 2015 at 9:02 AM - jbigler1986: Haven't shut off yet

Mar 8, 2015 at 9:04 AM - jbigler1986: During printing it would've turned off already.
Mar 8, 2015 at 9:05 AM - jbigler1986: Is there some setting in repetier that's doing it?
Mar 8, 2015 at 9:05 AM - jbigler1986: Like during a certain temperature or layer or something
Mar 8, 2015 at 9:14 AM - jbigler1986: So I enabled fan always on. Lets see what happens
Mar 8, 2015 at 9:29 AM - Ben R: there could be. Er... in those free programs you only get the choice of fan on or off or off for first layer right
    Mar 8, 2015 at 9:29 AM - Ben R: >
    Mar 8, 2015 at 9:29 AM - Ben R: ?
Mar 8, 2015 at 9:41 AM - jbigler1986: Should turn on after first layer is done
    Mar 8, 2015 at 9:45 AM - Ben R: for what material?
    Mar 8, 2015 at 9:45 AM - Ben R: layer 10 for pla
    Mar 8, 2015 at 9:45 AM - Ben R: never for abs
    Mar 8, 2015 at 9:46 AM - Ben R: 2nd layer for pet
    Mar 8, 2015 at 9:46 AM - Ben R: never for nylon
    Mar 8, 2015 at 9:46 AM - Ben R: I mean... ymmv
    Mar 8, 2015 at 9:51 AM - jbigler1986: Pla
    Mar 8, 2015 at 9:51 AM - jbigler1986: It's on
    Mar 8, 2015 at 9:58 AM - jbigler1986: Thinking about ordering e3d v6
Mar 8, 2015 at 9:59 AM - jbigler1986: My nozzle is loose, the boot is tore, thermosister I had to resolder
Mar 8, 2015 at 10:14 AM - Mike Glass: just get a screw in thermistor.
    Mar 8, 2015 at 10:18 AM - jbigler1986: Link?

Mar 8, 2015 at 10:27 AM - jbigler1986: Do I need to tap the hotend or is it threaded already
Mar 8, 2015 at 10:28 AM - Mike Glass: not sure if the hex is threaded
Mar 8, 2015 at 10:29 AM - Mike Glass: I do have the spec sheet though
Mar 8, 2015 at 10:36 AM - Mike Glass: nope, 2.5 mm hole
Mar 8, 2015 at 10:37 AM - Ben R: its not threaded... just really soft
Mar 8, 2015 at 10:37 AM - Ben R: no need to tap
Mar 8, 2015 at 10:39 AM - Ben R: so, no sign out button anymore. Can't hide, can't see your profile as an alien. can't even log in as your secret alter ego
Mar 8, 2015 at 10:40 AM - jbigler1986: Just ordered one. Can finally get rid if that damn boot
Mar 8, 2015 at 10:45 AM - Ben R: if its not that boot its th'other
Mar 8, 2015 at 10:45 AM - Ben R: and any of them can leak
Mar 8, 2015 at 10:46 AM - Ben R: that boot greatly increases speed/effectiveness of heating when fan is on.
Mar 8, 2015 at 10:46 AM - Ben R: a piece of glass or ceramic insulation and some heat resistant tape will work equally well.
    Mar 8, 2015 at 10:49 AM - Ben R: zzzzzzz
Mar 8, 2015 at 10:53 AM - Mike Glass: I thought the rubber boot was just a safety thing
    Mar 8, 2015 at 10:55 AM - jbigler1986: Well
Mar 8, 2015 at 10:55 AM - Mike Glass: deep subject
Mar 8, 2015 at 10:56 AM - jbigler1986: Just checked my print and the back fan got knocked off. Thus resulting in breaking my solder on the thermosister
Mar 8, 2015 at 10:56 AM - jbigler1986: Looks like no prints for me for a few days. Oh well
Mar 8, 2015 at 10:58 AM - Mike Glass: I need to put on the .2 nozzle and get going on the Nano
Mar 8, 2015 at 10:59 AM - jbigler1986: What screws/bolts did you use for the to hold the fan duct to the mount
    Mar 8, 2015 at 10:59 AM - Mike Glass: think I had some m4 or m6
    Mar 8, 2015 at 11:00 AM - jbigler1986: What a day

    Mar 8, 2015 at 11:05 AM - jbigler1986: Gotcha
Mar 8, 2015 at 11:05 AM - jbigler1986: Is there a different fan duct design?
    Mar 8, 2015 at 11:05 AM - Mike Glass: Its a carvewright
Mar 8, 2015 at 11:06 AM - jbigler1986: I can't get it mounted high enough with it being really loose

Mar 8, 2015 at 11:11 AM - jbigler1986: Would those fan mounts and ducts work
Mar 8, 2015 at 11:12 AM - jbigler1986: On the one you posted where does it mounted to?
Mar 8, 2015 at 11:13 AM - Mike Glass: it doesnt use the ducts but yes the fans will work.
    Mar 8, 2015 at 11:14 AM - Mike Glass: http://thingiverse-production-new.s...3/Hexagon_dual_fan_front_preview_featured.JPG
Mar 8, 2015 at 11:14 AM - jbigler1986: Where do you mount it? Not the fans but the fan holder itself
    Mar 8, 2015 at 11:16 AM - Mike Glass: http://thingiverse-production-new.s...Hexagon_fan_shroud_wings_preview_featured.jpg
Mar 8, 2015 at 11:16 AM - Mike Glass: mounts to the carriage
Mar 8, 2015 at 11:16 AM - jbigler1986: Bolts on or snaps on?
Mar 8, 2015 at 11:17 AM - Mike Glass: bolts, so you would have to use his carriage also.
Mar 8, 2015 at 11:18 AM - jbigler1986: Nevermind. I will just tweak mine to work correctly. Gonna have to resolder the damn thermosister.
    Mar 8, 2015 at 11:19 AM - Mike Glass: http://www.thingiverse.com/thing:240342/#instructions
Mar 8, 2015 at 11:20 AM - Mike Glass: these will fit your carriage but no ducts.
Mar 8, 2015 at 11:22 AM - jbigler1986: Is the hotend the only thing that needs removed?
Mar 8, 2015 at 11:22 AM - Mike Glass: No you should have to remove anything
Mar 8, 2015 at 11:23 AM - Mike Glass: oh yea for tonys
Mar 8, 2015 at 11:26 AM - jbigler1986: Just the hotend? Or remove the
Mar 8, 2015 at 11:26 AM - Mike Glass: not sure I would remove the hotend, just more stuff to go wrong..lol
Mar 8, 2015 at 11:28 AM - jbigler1986: I see. Gotta remove the fan holder too that goes around the heatsink
    Mar 8, 2015 at 12:07 PM - jbigler1986: Got it resoldered
Mar 8, 2015 at 12:07 PM - Mike Glass: so how did you break the boot?
Mar 8, 2015 at 12:08 PM - jbigler1986: It tore last week around the heating element when i was trying to remove it due to oozing
Mar 8, 2015 at 12:08 PM - Mike Glass: was it leaking on top?
    Mar 8, 2015 at 12:09 PM - jbigler1986: Yep.
Mar 8, 2015 at 12:09 PM - jbigler1986: It's hard to try to tighten it with that shitty thermositer
    Mar 8, 2015 at 12:09 PM - jbigler1986: It keeps falling out
Mar 8, 2015 at 12:09 PM - Mike Glass: yea, I thought I lost mine, def gonna pic on the the threaded ones up.
Mar 8, 2015 at 12:10 PM - jbigler1986: So once I get the threaded one I will be able to tighten it up
Mar 8, 2015 at 12:10 PM - Mike Glass: You cant now?
Mar 8, 2015 at 12:11 PM - jbigler1986: I'm not even going to attempt to
Mar 8, 2015 at 12:11 PM - jbigler1986: The thermositor broke right where the tiny wire goes into the therositor itself
    Mar 8, 2015 at 12:13 PM - jbigler1986: so it's very delicate right now
    Mar 8, 2015 at 12:16 PM - jbigler1986: reprinting the 40mm ducts
Mar 8, 2015 at 12:16 PM - Mike Glass: why do you have to reprint?
Mar 8, 2015 at 12:16 PM - jbigler1986: Possible to print them as one whole piece
Mar 8, 2015 at 12:17 PM - jbigler1986: I thought i saw a picture on one that was a whole piece instead of 2 parts
    Mar 8, 2015 at 12:21 PM - jbigler1986: http://www.thingiverse.com/thing:382184
Mar 8, 2015 at 12:22 PM - jbigler1986: would that do the trick?
Mar 8, 2015 at 12:23 PM - Mike Glass: wonder if they stick out as bad.

Mar 8, 2015 at 12:23 PM - Mike Glass: oh yea that would work good find
Mar 8, 2015 at 12:24 PM - jbigler1986: how long would it take for you to print one
Mar 8, 2015 at 12:25 PM - Mike Glass: still would hit in the bck
Mar 8, 2015 at 12:27 PM - jbigler1986: the problem with mine in the back was that the actualy bracket that connects to the duct wasn't fitting right. If I tightend it to tight it was angled to low. Almost below the nozzle. If It was to loose the angle was good but it was wobbling and almost falling off
    Mar 8, 2015 at 12:28 PM - jbigler1986: Does that make sense
Mar 8, 2015 at 12:30 PM - jbigler1986: So this one looks like it will solve that problem since there is no moving parts

    Mar 8, 2015 at 12:32 PM - jbigler1986: great idea
Mar 8, 2015 at 12:33 PM - Mike Glass: if it is the right angle
    Mar 8, 2015 at 12:33 PM - jbigler1986: haven't tried yet?
Mar 8, 2015 at 12:34 PM - jbigler1986: I'm going to print the solid piece fan ducts. See how they fit
    Mar 8, 2015 at 12:36 PM - jbigler1986: 5 hours
    Mar 8, 2015 at 12:36 PM - Mike Glass: think it works..woot
Mar 8, 2015 at 12:37 PM - jbigler1986: hopefully my soldering survives until I get the replacement. Really don't want to solder it again
Mar 8, 2015 at 12:37 PM - jbigler1986: the reason it broke after I soldered it was the damn back fan fell off because it was to loose
Mar 8, 2015 at 12:38 PM - jbigler1986: printing in black pla finally. Fry's was out of stock for a few weaks
    Mar 8, 2015 at 12:38 PM - jbigler1986: PLA and ABS
    Mar 8, 2015 at 12:41 PM - jbigler1986: Stream is back up
Mar 8, 2015 at 12:41 PM - jbigler1986: Got the fan turning off and on solved though
Mar 8, 2015 at 12:42 PM - Mike Glass: what was the issue
Mar 8, 2015 at 12:46 PM - jbigler1986: setting in repetier. it was set to auto cooling. Not sure what the exact settings were under that but I just enabled fan always on after layer 1
    Mar 8, 2015 at 12:47 PM - jbigler1986: got new fans though
    Mar 8, 2015 at 12:47 PM - jbigler1986: 6.8cfm for 5.99 a piece.
Mar 8, 2015 at 12:48 PM - jbigler1986: Plus yellow, red and black wires. lol
Mar 8, 2015 at 12:50 PM - jbigler1986: Ok. I'm going to bed. Time change is going to screw with me at work tomorrow

Mar 8, 2015 at 11:42 PM - jbigler1986: This black PLA i'm using is really shiny.
Mar 8, 2015 at 11:43 PM - jbigler1986: Installed wirecast last night. Haven't had a chance to mess with it yet though
Mar 8, 2015 at 11:44 PM - jbigler1986: How easy is it to swap out the blue led's with white ones? Where are they connected too?
Mar 8, 2015 at 11:45 PM - Bill Monroe: pretty easy, they're just tied into the power supplie's 12V output
Mar 8, 2015 at 11:45 PM - jbigler1986: using a connector or spliced into it?
Mar 8, 2015 at 11:46 PM - Bill Monroe: its up to you
    Mar 8, 2015 at 11:46 PM - jbigler1986: I meant how is it now
Mar 8, 2015 at 11:46 PM - Bill Monroe: heh I cant remember.. look at yours
Mar 8, 2015 at 11:47 PM - jbigler1986: How hard is it to merge 2 parts together to print as one?
Mar 8, 2015 at 11:49 PM - Bill Monroe: I dunno.. never tried it
Mar 8, 2015 at 11:51 PM - Bill Monroe: I design stuff in Solidworks, then print it.
    Mar 8, 2015 at 11:53 PM - jbigler1986: printer went crazy
Mar 8, 2015 at 11:54 PM - jbigler1986: Started printing in a different area. interesting
Mar 8, 2015 at 11:57 PM - jbigler1986: Can I print from sd card while it's connected to pc?
    Mar 8, 2015 at 11:57 PM - jbigler1986: Using the lcd controller
Mar 8, 2015 at 11:57 PM - Bill Monroe: dont know why not
Mar 8, 2015 at 11:59 PM - jbigler1986: Would I be able to kill the print via Repetier or would I have to have it disconnected in the software?
Mar 9, 2015 at 12:09 AM - Bill Monroe: i think so, its been a long time since I used rep. you can kill it with the LCD too
Mar 9, 2015 at 12:12 AM - jbigler1986: yeah but i want to print from lcd but be able to kill via repetier if i'm not at home
Mar 9, 2015 at 12:12 AM - Bill Monroe: try it
Mar 9, 2015 at 12:16 AM - jbigler1986: I will try it during my lunch.
Mar 9, 2015 at 12:25 AM - jbigler1986: didn't know i could upload from repetier to sd card while it's in the controller
Mar 9, 2015 at 12:27 AM - jbigler1986: hmmm. It said upload finished but I don't see it added to it
Mar 9, 2015 at 12:52 AM - Vishal: hi guys i am marking a table any recommendation for a cool joint i could print off

    Mar 9, 2015 at 1:59 AM - jbigler1986: http://www.filedropper.com/fan_1
Mar 9, 2015 at 2:03 AM - Bill Monroe: what did you do? the company net-nanny blocks online personal storage sites.
Mar 9, 2015 at 2:24 AM - Greg Sheets: I just installed MK's y-axis (http://www.thingiverse.com/thing:681894), and now realize that I need the cable chain inside the y-axis bearings. However, I did not print prior to this installation. I now have to cut the heater and resistor to mechanically clear. Can I still print PLA on a cold bed?
Mar 9, 2015 at 2:35 AM - Bill Monroe: maybe.. I'd try using glue stick
    Mar 9, 2015 at 2:36 AM - jbigler1986: I will upload it here

Mar 9, 2015 at 3:33 AM - jbigler1986: I should have added supports for the fan
    Mar 9, 2015 at 4:07 AM - jbigler1986: Reprinting with support

Mar 9, 2015 at 4:36 AM - Mike Glass: looks like it may blow right on the hotend instead of the part?
    Mar 9, 2015 at 4:40 AM - jbigler1986: Shouldn't.
    Mar 9, 2015 at 4:40 AM - jbigler1986: It may though
Mar 9, 2015 at 4:41 AM - Mike Kelly: hello hello
    Mar 9, 2015 at 4:42 AM - jbigler1986: Hello there
Mar 9, 2015 at 4:44 AM - jbigler1986: Had to kill the print. It was air printing. Damn supports
Mar 9, 2015 at 4:45 AM - jbigler1986: The original low profile 40mm would be great if the mount could be printed on the duct
Mar 9, 2015 at 4:47 AM - jbigler1986: Possible to murge the 2 parts into one?
    Mar 9, 2015 at 4:47 AM - jbigler1986: merge
Mar 9, 2015 at 4:51 AM - Mike Kelly: i know netfabb pro can do that
Mar 9, 2015 at 4:51 AM - Mike Kelly: might be possible with basic
    Mar 9, 2015 at 4:56 AM - jbigler1986: hmm
Mar 9, 2015 at 4:57 AM - Mike Kelly: lol
Mar 9, 2015 at 5:00 AM - jbigler1986: trying to figure it out.
    Mar 9, 2015 at 5:01 AM - jbigler1986: It's only with pro
    Mar 9, 2015 at 5:02 AM - jbigler1986: Do you have pro Mike K?
Mar 9, 2015 at 5:19 AM - Printed Solid: I have pro. want to post them up? You can merge stls in several other programs as well.
    Mar 9, 2015 at 5:24 AM - jbigler1986: http://www.thingiverse.com/thing:431160
Mar 9, 2015 at 5:26 AM - jbigler1986: Also should I tap the thermistor hole on the block or just screw in the bolt thermistor?
Mar 9, 2015 at 5:32 AM - Mike Kelly: tapping is always a good idea
Mar 9, 2015 at 5:35 AM - Printed Solid: yeah, sorry had a phone call. I agree with Mike.

Mar 9, 2015 at 5:36 AM - Printed Solid: Also, I'd suggest just printing those parts as designed. You can glue together if you want. Any printing orientation is going to give you supports to clean up.
Mar 9, 2015 at 5:37 AM - Printed Solid: I mean you'll need supports if the files are merged. no need for supports if you just print them as designed.
Mar 9, 2015 at 5:37 AM - jbigler1986: Good idea. totally spaced gluing them together
    Mar 9, 2015 at 5:37 AM - jbigler1986:
    Mar 9, 2015 at 5:37 AM - Mike Kelly: i love Weldon-4
Mar 9, 2015 at 5:37 AM - Mike Kelly: it's the best way to glue parts
Mar 9, 2015 at 5:39 AM - jbigler1986: Ahhh. Should have ordered some last night on amazon since that's where I ordered the theristor
    Mar 9, 2015 at 5:39 AM - jbigler1986: thermistor*
    Mar 9, 2015 at 5:40 AM - jbigler1986: Super glue it is
Mar 9, 2015 at 5:40 AM - Mike Kelly: just be aware those metal stud thermistors have a max temp
    Mar 9, 2015 at 5:42 AM - jbigler1986: I mostly print PLA
    Mar 9, 2015 at 5:42 AM - Mike Kelly: for now ;)
    Mar 9, 2015 at 5:42 AM - jbigler1986: lol
    Mar 9, 2015 at 5:43 AM - jbigler1986: I have printed some ABS. But I run it at 240
Mar 9, 2015 at 5:43 AM - jbigler1986: What all needs a really high temp
Mar 9, 2015 at 5:43 AM - Mike Kelly: xt, PET, nylons
Mar 9, 2015 at 5:44 AM - jbigler1986: Well looks like I need to order another regular thermistor too
Mar 9, 2015 at 5:44 AM - jbigler1986: Had to solder mine back together last night
Mar 9, 2015 at 5:45 AM - Mike Kelly: you should be good to 260 with all those
Mar 9, 2015 at 5:45 AM - Mike Kelly: unless you try polycarbonate or something
Mar 9, 2015 at 5:45 AM - jbigler1986: I don't need to use the boot once I install the new one do I?
Mar 9, 2015 at 5:45 AM - Mike Kelly: not unless you want to
    Mar 9, 2015 at 5:45 AM - jbigler1986: Nope
Mar 9, 2015 at 5:45 AM - Mike Kelly: keeps things cleaner
Mar 9, 2015 at 5:46 AM - jbigler1986: One of the main reason I went with a threaded one
Mar 9, 2015 at 5:47 AM - jbigler1986: All because I needed to tighten my nozzle. Broke the thermistor right where it connect to the actual "glass" piece or whatever it is
    Mar 9, 2015 at 5:47 AM - Mike Kelly: it's glass
Mar 9, 2015 at 5:48 AM - jbigler1986: It wasn't the easiest or hardest to solder back together
    Mar 9, 2015 at 5:48 AM - jbigler1986: Just small
Mar 9, 2015 at 5:49 AM - Mike Kelly: yeah at least it was an epcos style and not a semitec
Mar 9, 2015 at 5:49 AM - Mike Kelly: those semitecs are like hard to see and super fragile
Mar 9, 2015 at 5:49 AM - Mike Kelly: i've gone through at least 4
Mar 9, 2015 at 5:49 AM - jbigler1986: Crappy design if you need to move it around at all
    Mar 9, 2015 at 5:51 AM - jbigler1986: Just a thought. Would a thermocouple work on it?
Mar 9, 2015 at 5:51 AM - jbigler1986: Like ones you use with multimeters
Mar 9, 2015 at 5:52 AM - Mike Kelly: yeah you need an adapter board
    Mar 9, 2015 at 5:52 AM - jbigler1986: ?
    Mar 9, 2015 at 5:53 AM - jbigler1986: Couldn't you just wire it to the thermositor wires? Red/red, black/black
    Mar 9, 2015 at 5:53 AM - Mike Kelly: http://e3d-online.com/External-Thermocouple-Board-v1.0
Mar 9, 2015 at 5:54 AM - Mike Kelly: nope, thermistors work on resistance, and thermocouples are mV
    Mar 9, 2015 at 5:54 AM - jbigler1986: gotacha
    Mar 9, 2015 at 5:55 AM - jbigler1986: Surprised I haven't seen an infrared
Mar 9, 2015 at 5:55 AM - Mike Kelly: the internal temperature is warmer than what's read on the surface
Mar 9, 2015 at 5:56 AM - jbigler1986: I guess that's why the thermosistor is on the inside. Duh
Mar 9, 2015 at 5:56 AM - jbigler1986: I blame it on the time change
Mar 9, 2015 at 5:56 AM - jbigler1986: Where is Printed Solid location
Mar 9, 2015 at 5:56 AM - Mike Kelly: yeah i'm only like 50% functioning right now, still recovering from vegas
    Mar 9, 2015 at 5:56 AM - Mike Kelly: he's delaware
Mar 9, 2015 at 5:57 AM - jbigler1986: Wonder how fast he could get parts to Indiana
Mar 9, 2015 at 5:57 AM - Mike Kelly: he does 2 day for everything
    Mar 9, 2015 at 5:58 AM - jbigler1986: Extra for 1 day?
Mar 9, 2015 at 5:58 AM - Mike Kelly: dunno on that
Mar 9, 2015 at 5:58 AM - Mike Kelly: what are you looking for
Mar 9, 2015 at 5:59 AM - jbigler1986: I was just curious. Probably upgrade nozzle sometime
Mar 9, 2015 at 6:00 AM - Mike Kelly: i'm not seeing any shipping options
    Mar 9, 2015 at 6:01 AM - jbigler1986: Me either. Thats why i asked
Mar 9, 2015 at 6:06 AM - Mike Glass: Hey Mike how was the VACA
Mar 9, 2015 at 6:12 AM - Mike Kelly: oh man it was so insane
Mar 9, 2015 at 6:12 AM - Mike Kelly: that was a fun vegas trip
Mar 9, 2015 at 6:12 AM - Mike Kelly: i wouldn't stay in old vegas again, the strip is so much more fun
Mar 9, 2015 at 6:12 AM - Mike Kelly: but we had a blast
Mar 9, 2015 at 6:13 AM - Mike Kelly: that will probably be my first and last time where our club tab was $4000
Mar 9, 2015 at 6:21 AM - Mike Glass: wow, im sure that was just food
    Mar 9, 2015 at 6:23 AM - Greg Sheets: s3d question: Why does non-raft start at z=1.8 (90% 1st layer) and raft start at z=.45 ?
Mar 9, 2015 at 6:25 AM - Mike Kelly: yeah, we, uh, "ate" a lot
Mar 9, 2015 at 6:26 AM - Greg Sheets: In vegas, I'm sure it was just "food" ;)
Mar 9, 2015 at 6:27 AM - Mike Kelly: all i knew is that every time i turned around there was an entire table of food
Mar 9, 2015 at 6:27 AM - Mike Kelly: the girls that joined us liked our "food" selection
Mar 9, 2015 at 6:29 AM - Greg Sheets: ah, closer to the truth... girls
Mar 9, 2015 at 6:30 AM - Mike Kelly: but i'm married so i just talked to another married girl who's a pre-med
Mar 9, 2015 at 6:30 AM - Mike Kelly: she was cool
Mar 9, 2015 at 6:33 AM - Mike Kelly: couple things i learned from vegas, being in a strip club as a guy is like being a hot girl at a bar, you never have a chance to be alone
Mar 9, 2015 at 6:34 AM - Mike Kelly: and being a married guy scares girls off just as quickly as it does guys, everyones looking for the single ones
Mar 9, 2015 at 6:35 AM - Greg Sheets: cheaper being married too... single ones drink more in my experience
Mar 9, 2015 at 6:35 AM - Mike Kelly: yup
Mar 9, 2015 at 6:35 AM - Mike Kelly: i think i made that girl like one drink
Mar 9, 2015 at 6:35 AM - Mike Kelly: it was kinda funny they were a bachelorette party, but the bachelorette was passed out by 8:30
Mar 9, 2015 at 6:37 AM - Greg Sheets: the bachelorette already found her man, the others are quickly trying to catch up
Mar 9, 2015 at 6:37 AM - Mike Kelly: haha right
Mar 9, 2015 at 6:38 AM - Mike Kelly: they let her go too hard i guess
Mar 9, 2015 at 6:38 AM - Mike Kelly: her sister was hot though
Mar 9, 2015 at 6:39 AM - Ben R: changed my user name... no more "defendermd"
Mar 9, 2015 at 6:39 AM - Greg Sheets: where in CO do you live, I used to live in Longmont ('98 - '02)?
Mar 9, 2015 at 6:40 AM - Ben R: I have an office in CO springs. haven't seen it in over a year
Mar 9, 2015 at 6:41 AM - Mike Kelly: I live in Lakewood. Also ew co springs
Mar 9, 2015 at 6:42 AM - Ben R: you don't like meth? or is it their lack of totally legal pot?
Mar 9, 2015 at 6:43 AM - Ben R: EW western CO... i am quite susceptible to the alt sickness... day 3 I think I have the flu. ugh
Mar 9, 2015 at 6:43 AM - Mike Kelly: The only things co springs has is garden of the gods and pikes peak. The rest of it can go away for all I care
Mar 9, 2015 at 6:43 AM - Ben R: eh.. It has an army base... so yea. Denver is too metropolitan if I had my druthers.
Mar 9, 2015 at 6:44 AM - Ben R: of course, currently living right outside DC
Mar 9, 2015 at 6:46 AM - Mike Kelly: yeah i couldn't live in dc metro
Mar 9, 2015 at 6:46 AM - Mike Kelly: my parents and brother lives there right now
    Mar 9, 2015 at 6:46 AM - Mike Kelly: it's just crazy
Mar 9, 2015 at 6:47 AM - Mike Kelly: denver is that right mix of open and city for me
Mar 9, 2015 at 6:47 AM - Mike Kelly: i also liked chicago
Mar 9, 2015 at 6:49 AM - Ben R: I live on a farm actually. but if I go in any direction for more than 20 minutes.. I'm in water or city
    Mar 9, 2015 at 6:49 AM - Ben R: but that's the "bos-wash"
Mar 9, 2015 at 6:49 AM - Ben R: retire next year... "screw you all" to the metropolitan scene
    Mar 9, 2015 at 6:50 AM - Ben R: well.. hopefully
    Mar 9, 2015 at 6:50 AM - jbigler1986: Nice. Lucky you

Mar 9, 2015 at 6:52 AM - Mike Kelly: that makes sense
Mar 9, 2015 at 6:52 AM - Ben R: and the "I don't know what Id do if I retired" crowd
    Mar 9, 2015 at 6:52 AM - Mike Kelly: i probably wouldn't want to
Mar 9, 2015 at 6:52 AM - Greg Sheets: I've got a plane, in 30 minutes I can be on Martha Vineyard, 60 minutes skiing Stowe, VT. Traffic not a problem unless VIP at MVP (i.e. "the pres")
Mar 9, 2015 at 6:52 AM - Mike Kelly: especially if i can keep designing stuff
    Mar 9, 2015 at 6:52 AM - Ben R: I'm 41, I work with a 72 year old
Mar 9, 2015 at 6:52 AM - Mike Kelly: i'd just work less and play with more expensive toys
Mar 9, 2015 at 6:53 AM - Ben R: eh, price of the toys doesn't mean much to me
Mar 9, 2015 at 6:53 AM - Ben R: but I understand its the typical american motivation
Mar 9, 2015 at 6:53 AM - Mike Kelly: mostly robots and other custom electronics
Mar 9, 2015 at 6:54 AM - Ben R: yea... can't find them easily laying around the goodwill
    Mar 9, 2015 at 6:54 AM - jbigler1986: Question for you guy's
Mar 9, 2015 at 6:54 AM - Mike Kelly: yeah if you need a custom circuit board it's not cheap
    Mar 9, 2015 at 6:54 AM - Ben R: yea
Mar 9, 2015 at 6:54 AM - Ben R: breadboard and a lot of it
Mar 9, 2015 at 6:54 AM - Mike Kelly: but if i can turn my toys int other revenue sources that's a fun hobby for me
    Mar 9, 2015 at 6:54 AM - Mike Kelly: that's the dream
Mar 9, 2015 at 6:54 AM - Greg Sheets: did you see the kickstarter custom circuit board printer?
Mar 9, 2015 at 6:54 AM - jbigler1986: If I scale up some drawers do I just upscale the actual base the same?
Mar 9, 2015 at 6:54 AM - Ben R: if you got the knowledge and enjoy it, its not work.
    Mar 9, 2015 at 6:54 AM - Ben R: base?
Mar 9, 2015 at 6:55 AM - Ben R: remember when you scale something, you scale wall thickness too.
Mar 9, 2015 at 6:55 AM - jbigler1986: Where the drawers slide into
    Mar 9, 2015 at 6:55 AM - Ben R: sometimes a redesign is better
Mar 9, 2015 at 6:55 AM - Mike Kelly: totally, but i just need the money to drop on those kinds of hobbies
Mar 9, 2015 at 6:55 AM - Ben R: no.. it'll all be relatively the same
Mar 9, 2015 at 6:55 AM - Ben R: yea, I think I might go back to school and be in a similar boat.
Mar 9, 2015 at 6:56 AM - Ben R: Dropped out of ME 20 years ago when other quicker money availed
    Mar 9, 2015 at 6:56 AM - Ben R: remember nearly nothing
Mar 9, 2015 at 6:56 AM - Mike Kelly: if i had enough money to not work i'd probably get my PHD
    Mar 9, 2015 at 6:56 AM - Ben R: ok.....
Mar 9, 2015 at 6:56 AM - Ben R: you need someone to tell you what you know?
Mar 9, 2015 at 6:56 AM - Mike Kelly: haha
    Mar 9, 2015 at 6:56 AM - Ben R: or "certify it"
    Mar 9, 2015 at 6:56 AM - Mike Kelly: i think i'd be a good professor
Mar 9, 2015 at 6:57 AM - Ben R: oh.. there you go. PHD is just to sell yourself.
Mar 9, 2015 at 6:57 AM - Greg Sheets: I got one (PhD), but I planned on using that for my 3rd job, a professor
Mar 9, 2015 at 6:57 AM - Ben R: If you're not for sale... why bother
Mar 9, 2015 at 6:57 AM - Mike Kelly: more for the love of knowledge than anything else
Mar 9, 2015 at 6:57 AM - Ben R: but PHD, i guess it helps you get resources
    Mar 9, 2015 at 6:57 AM - Ben R: potentially
Mar 9, 2015 at 6:58 AM - Ben R: if you need a lab or something
Mar 9, 2015 at 6:58 AM - Mike Kelly: my masters isn't doing much for me right now, i'm way underpaid
Mar 9, 2015 at 6:58 AM - Mike Kelly: just one of those "do your dues, and if the company wins you all win"
    Mar 9, 2015 at 6:58 AM - Ben R: ha ha
    Mar 9, 2015 at 6:58 AM - Ben R: yea.. if it's that 1 in 100
Mar 9, 2015 at 6:58 AM - Mike Glass: IF
Mar 9, 2015 at 6:58 AM - Mike Kelly: big IF
Mar 9, 2015 at 6:58 AM - Mike Kelly: i need oil prices to go back up
Mar 9, 2015 at 6:59 AM - Mike Glass: You and me both
Mar 9, 2015 at 6:59 AM - Mike Kelly: this last drop is doing it's damage on us
    Mar 9, 2015 at 6:59 AM - Ben R: you're only around once... I'll stick to livin'
Mar 9, 2015 at 6:59 AM - Mike Kelly: i have a sweet job so i can't complain too much
    Mar 9, 2015 at 6:59 AM - Ben R: actually. I'm fine with oil prices dropping.. :)
Mar 9, 2015 at 6:59 AM - Mike Kelly: i could take more money, but the work would be less fun and i'd have less responsibility
Mar 9, 2015 at 6:59 AM - Mike Kelly: plus the mile commute is pretty nice :)
Mar 9, 2015 at 7:00 AM - Ben R: Yea, I say all this from my comfortable pre-retired income state
Mar 9, 2015 at 7:00 AM - Ben R: Well see what the reality is, when I actually take the hit in income next year or 2
Mar 9, 2015 at 7:01 AM - Ben R: on paper, its fine
Mar 9, 2015 at 7:01 AM - Mike Kelly: yeah
Mar 9, 2015 at 7:01 AM - Ben R: but that's with 50 hours or so spent at work... not finishing any of my projects. If I'm home, limited income, will I be done with one or the other.
Mar 9, 2015 at 7:02 AM - Ben R: My measurement of retirement success is... if I ever am found watching daytime TV... go back to work
Mar 9, 2015 at 7:02 AM - Mike Kelly: haha
Mar 9, 2015 at 7:02 AM - Ben R: price is right is the step right before coffin
Mar 9, 2015 at 7:02 AM - Mike Kelly: oh man solidworks just crashed
Mar 9, 2015 at 7:02 AM - Ben R: Pick weeds out of your lawn all day... don't watch the price
Mar 9, 2015 at 7:02 AM - Mike Kelly: and i have no idea when i saved last
    Mar 9, 2015 at 7:02 AM - Mike Kelly: >_<
    Mar 9, 2015 at 7:03 AM - Ben R: lovely
Mar 9, 2015 at 7:03 AM - Mike Kelly: retire to colorado, plant weeds in your lawn all day,
    Mar 9, 2015 at 7:03 AM - Ben R: he he
    Mar 9, 2015 at 7:03 AM - Ben R: flooded market
Mar 9, 2015 at 7:03 AM - Mike Kelly: for now, until more of the dominos fall
Mar 9, 2015 at 7:03 AM - Mike Glass: do you have autorecover on Mike
    Mar 9, 2015 at 7:03 AM - Mike Kelly: i do
    Mar 9, 2015 at 7:04 AM - Mike Kelly: i only lost a little
Mar 9, 2015 at 7:04 AM - Ben R: but i have to say, based on previous experience, it does make any amount of income/hobbies you have become "sufficient"
Mar 9, 2015 at 7:04 AM - Mike Glass: I have that happen all the time
Mar 9, 2015 at 7:04 AM - Mike Kelly: i'd just like more states to open it up so all these pot bums stop moving in
Mar 9, 2015 at 7:04 AM - Mike Kelly: those are better than the meth, crack, and heroine ones at least
Mar 9, 2015 at 7:05 AM - Mike Glass: Meth is everywhere you dont think, its horrible
Mar 9, 2015 at 7:05 AM - Mike Kelly: it's a huge problem, especially in the midwest
Mar 9, 2015 at 7:05 AM - Ben R: yea... colorado springs.. outside central area.. .its just vials and trailers
Mar 9, 2015 at 7:06 AM - Mike Kelly: nebraska and oklahoma was gonna sue us for legalizing weed and causing them to spend more in law enforcement, spend more on stopping meth man,
Mar 9, 2015 at 7:06 AM - Mike Kelly: that shit is DISGUSTING
Mar 9, 2015 at 7:06 AM - Mike Glass: I just dont get it.
Mar 9, 2015 at 7:06 AM - Mike Kelly: i can't believe how many people do it
Mar 9, 2015 at 7:06 AM - Ben R: well... don't knock it till you try it?
Mar 9, 2015 at 7:07 AM - Ben R: It must be something, its a growth industry
Mar 9, 2015 at 7:07 AM - Mike Kelly: haha, yeah i don't touch that shit
Mar 9, 2015 at 7:07 AM - Ben R: Its like bigotry. Sometimes I just feel like I'm missing out.
Mar 9, 2015 at 7:07 AM - Mike Kelly: i would never do an amphetamine or an opiate
Mar 9, 2015 at 7:07 AM - Ben R: hey... everyone else hates the jews....

Mar 9, 2015 at 7:07 AM - Mike Kelly: fuck all those prescriptions killing people, it's disgusting.
Mar 9, 2015 at 7:07 AM - Mike Kelly: aw dude
Mar 9, 2015 at 7:08 AM - Ben R: hey.. don't knock opiates till you're in the ER.
    Mar 9, 2015 at 7:08 AM - Ben R: in a lot of pain
Mar 9, 2015 at 7:08 AM - Mike Kelly: yeah i know right
    Mar 9, 2015 at 7:08 AM - Ben R: I'm a fan.
Mar 9, 2015 at 7:08 AM - Mike Kelly: *knocks on wood*
Mar 9, 2015 at 7:08 AM - Mike Kelly: that's just one of those things "if you don't know, you don't know what you're missing"
Mar 9, 2015 at 7:08 AM - Ben R: Ok.. they were synthetic opiates... but... still.
    Mar 9, 2015 at 7:08 AM - Ben R: It was a nice respite
Mar 9, 2015 at 7:08 AM - Mike Kelly: i'll stick with acetaminophen
Mar 9, 2015 at 7:09 AM - Ben R: that takes down swelling.
Mar 9, 2015 at 7:09 AM - Ben R: swelling isn't the main cause of pain due to holes...
Mar 9, 2015 at 7:09 AM - Ben R: well.. for a few days anyway
Mar 9, 2015 at 7:09 AM - Mike Kelly: it also has pain relief
Mar 9, 2015 at 7:10 AM - Ben R: since inflamation increases pain..
Mar 9, 2015 at 7:11 AM - Ben R: eh.. it says it is an analgesic
Mar 9, 2015 at 7:12 AM - Mike Kelly: i think i might have had some kind of opiate when i had my wisdom teeth out, but i was swallowing blood and got sick so my mom wouldn't let me have anymore
Mar 9, 2015 at 7:12 AM - Ben R: hmm.. but yes.. you had an opiate or synthetic.
    Mar 9, 2015 at 7:12 AM - Ben R: Probably a tylenol 3
Mar 9, 2015 at 7:13 AM - Mike Kelly: i wanna say it was a synthetic, the label wasn't something i recognized
    Mar 9, 2015 at 7:13 AM - Ben R: 99% are
Mar 9, 2015 at 7:13 AM - Mike Kelly: they wrote me 3 tiers of scripts but i couldn't get any of the others
    Mar 9, 2015 at 7:13 AM - Ben R: hmm
Mar 9, 2015 at 7:13 AM - Mike Kelly: this was the weakest, which sucked cause i was in a lot of pain
Mar 9, 2015 at 7:13 AM - Mike Kelly: then it got infected 2 weeks after
Mar 9, 2015 at 7:13 AM - Ben R: yea. Toughing it out is cool and all. When you bang your knee.
Mar 9, 2015 at 7:14 AM - Ben R: of course, a buddy of mine was on oxy for something like 2 years before a doctor finally asked when he started them.
    Mar 9, 2015 at 7:14 AM - Ben R: that sucked
Mar 9, 2015 at 7:14 AM - Ben R: he was in the hospital in horrible painful withdrawl.
    Mar 9, 2015 at 7:15 AM - Mike Kelly: yup, that's why i don't like them
    Mar 9, 2015 at 7:15 AM - Ben R: well.. don't take em like a fiend.
Mar 9, 2015 at 7:15 AM - Mike Kelly: there has got to be better pain relief options out there
Mar 9, 2015 at 7:15 AM - Ben R: he knew better.. but he was in a lot of pain due to a spinal injury
Mar 9, 2015 at 7:15 AM - Mike Kelly: ouch yeah
Mar 9, 2015 at 7:15 AM - Ben R: they offered to basically "sever" his spine to relieve the pain. He decided against that.
Mar 9, 2015 at 7:15 AM - Ben R: kind of like a greg house situation
Mar 9, 2015 at 7:16 AM - Ben R: cept his blood clot was in his spinal chord... well inside the spinal column
Mar 9, 2015 at 7:16 AM - Mike Kelly: good god
Mar 9, 2015 at 7:17 AM - Ben R: yea... took about a year for the doctors to decide he wasn't just gaming for workers comp.
Mar 9, 2015 at 7:17 AM - Mike Kelly: doctors are so afraid these days to make the wrong call it's easier for them to do nothing
Mar 9, 2015 at 7:17 AM - Ben R: he complained of back pain and radiating pain, but no obvious injury. Turns out he had a hemangioma in his spinal cord that ruptured. pressure, scar tissue clots.
Mar 9, 2015 at 7:18 AM - Ben R: same with most people... zero tolerance society. people sue over menu recomendations
Mar 9, 2015 at 7:18 AM - Mike Kelly: that's one of the big reasons i want to move
Mar 9, 2015 at 7:18 AM - Mike Kelly: people need to look out for themselves
Mar 9, 2015 at 7:18 AM - Ben R: and it hits CNN.. not the ridiculousness of the suit.. but the fact he recommended the sword fish.
Mar 9, 2015 at 7:18 AM - Mike Kelly: sword fish is good...
Mar 9, 2015 at 7:18 AM - Ben R: no no no... come on. Isn't that someone elses job?
Mar 9, 2015 at 7:19 AM - Mike Kelly: I STABBED MYSELF WITH A TOOTHPICK, YOU DIDN'T WARN ME THAT COULD HAPPEN
    Mar 9, 2015 at 7:19 AM - Ben R: Exactly
    Mar 9, 2015 at 7:19 AM - Ben R: ban toothpicks!
    Mar 9, 2015 at 7:19 AM - Ben R: start a twitter campaign
Mar 9, 2015 at 7:19 AM - Mike Kelly: lol
Mar 9, 2015 at 7:20 AM - Ben R: I keep warning people not to call their RC vehicles "drones"
Mar 9, 2015 at 7:20 AM - Mike Kelly: lately i've been thinking about learning german
Mar 9, 2015 at 7:20 AM - Ben R: that bugs me more than anything. Idiots deciding things
Mar 9, 2015 at 7:20 AM - Mike Kelly: multicopters
Mar 9, 2015 at 7:20 AM - Ben R: "a drone was spotted at a high school soccer game"... it was a frikkin quad copter!
Mar 9, 2015 at 7:20 AM - Ben R: if it was helicopter shaped, its a RC plane... but no.. that's a drone... can't fly them...
    Mar 9, 2015 at 7:21 AM - Ben R: as an example....
    Mar 9, 2015 at 7:21 AM - Ben R: german is FUN
    Mar 9, 2015 at 7:21 AM - Ben R: wundebar!
Mar 9, 2015 at 7:22 AM - Ben R: That is one of the places I might think about getting work after here... should I desire. I have contacts there... american contacts NSA... chill.
Mar 9, 2015 at 7:22 AM - Mike Kelly: yeah i wish i had some connections
Mar 9, 2015 at 7:22 AM - Mike Kelly: they have a great engineering market
Mar 9, 2015 at 7:22 AM - Ben R: move out of the sticks!
Mar 9, 2015 at 7:22 AM - Mike Kelly: and their cost of living is even cheaper than ours
    Mar 9, 2015 at 7:23 AM - Ben R: ????
    Mar 9, 2015 at 7:23 AM - Ben R: its like 14 euros a litre of gas
    Mar 9, 2015 at 7:23 AM - Ben R: "petrol"
Mar 9, 2015 at 7:23 AM - Mike Kelly: lol no it's not
Mar 9, 2015 at 7:23 AM - Ben R: that might be hyperbolic
Mar 9, 2015 at 7:23 AM - Mike Kelly: plus you don't drive that much
Mar 9, 2015 at 7:23 AM - jbigler1986: Did somebody answer my question about the scaling? Sorry if you did. I didn't see it
    Mar 9, 2015 at 7:23 AM - Ben R: ok.. 1.38
    Mar 9, 2015 at 7:24 AM - Ben R: es jiggler...
    Mar 9, 2015 at 7:24 AM - Ben R: yes
    Mar 9, 2015 at 7:24 AM - Mike Kelly: http://www.numbeo.com/cost-of-living/rankings_by_country.jsp
Mar 9, 2015 at 7:24 AM - Ben R: Everything stays the same relative to itself
Mar 9, 2015 at 7:24 AM - Mike Kelly: it's not a huge saving, but just very comparable
Mar 9, 2015 at 7:24 AM - Ben R: scale everything 2:1 and everytyhing is the same.. but walls get thicker
Mar 9, 2015 at 7:25 AM - Ben R: yea... like 5 dollars a gallon for gas.. but nationalized health care and a mere 39% tax
Mar 9, 2015 at 7:25 AM - Mike Kelly: you don't drive as much though
Mar 9, 2015 at 7:25 AM - Ben R: its a nice place though. Especially if you like to party till 0400
Mar 9, 2015 at 7:25 AM - jbigler1986: Where did Printed go? Wanted to ask him about 1 day shipping
Mar 9, 2015 at 7:25 AM - Ben R: if you like to calmly drink until 0400... spain
Mar 9, 2015 at 7:26 AM - Ben R: I hear portugal is trying to become a nice place to go
Mar 9, 2015 at 7:26 AM - Mike Kelly: yeah
Mar 9, 2015 at 7:26 AM - Ben R: If you like snooty spain... italy
Mar 9, 2015 at 7:26 AM - Mike Kelly: i'd love to live in a few other countries, like norway, denmark, or france
Mar 9, 2015 at 7:26 AM - Mike Kelly: but that's just so expensive
Mar 9, 2015 at 7:26 AM - Ben R: eh.. get jobs.. stop trying to play with expensive toys.
Mar 9, 2015 at 7:27 AM - Ben R: wife and I are on the fence about buying a house, or renting in retirement.
Mar 9, 2015 at 7:27 AM - Ben R: do I want to stay fixed
Mar 9, 2015 at 7:27 AM - jbigler1986: You only live once. No way will I stop doing what I enjoy
Mar 9, 2015 at 7:27 AM - Mike Kelly: the wife and i can stop having fun once we have a rugrat to take up our free time
Mar 9, 2015 at 7:27 AM - Ben R: and as long as you stay off anti depressants... you can continue that
Mar 9, 2015 at 7:27 AM - Mike Kelly: SSRI's are the way to go
Mar 9, 2015 at 7:28 AM - Ben R: but so limp... so limp
Mar 9, 2015 at 7:28 AM - Mike Kelly: haha, you're on the wrong one then

Mar 9, 2015 at 7:28 AM - jbigler1986: I have 2 rugrats and still manage to do just about everything I want. just harder to juggle and plan everything
Mar 9, 2015 at 7:28 AM - Ben R: yea.. frustrating it is.
Mar 9, 2015 at 7:28 AM - Ben R: Mine are both in middle school. a few more years... and who knows
    Mar 9, 2015 at 7:29 AM - jbigler1986: Another reason I only get 5 hours of sleep a night
Mar 9, 2015 at 7:29 AM - Ben R: all this "I'm not having kids till I'm 40"... first off... screwed up kids... secondly.. No retirement
Mar 9, 2015 at 7:30 AM - Ben R: I mean genetically screwed up. Old people make good parents... but they have to... since their gametes are garbage by that time
Mar 9, 2015 at 7:30 AM - Mike Kelly: yeah kids at 30 is my goal
Mar 9, 2015 at 7:30 AM - Mike Kelly: that's why you adopt
    Mar 9, 2015 at 7:30 AM - TechSupportGo: mk!!]
Mar 9, 2015 at 7:30 AM - Ben R: I think 35 is when the fifth diseases start kicking up like 50% a year in women
    Mar 9, 2015 at 7:31 AM - Ben R: 55 for autism with men.
Mar 9, 2015 at 7:31 AM - Mike Kelly: yeah if we don't have kids by 35 we'll wait till we're in our 40's and adopt
    Mar 9, 2015 at 7:31 AM - Ben R: something like that
    Mar 9, 2015 at 7:31 AM - TechSupportGo: yolo
Mar 9, 2015 at 7:32 AM - Mike Kelly: yeah something like that
Mar 9, 2015 at 7:32 AM - Ben R: exactly... yolo. Don't drop out.. but man.. you can't take it with you. Why bother trying
Mar 9, 2015 at 7:32 AM - Ben R: again.. from my pre-retired income level
Mar 9, 2015 at 7:33 AM - jbigler1986: I said I was going to wait until I was about 25 at least until I had kids. Made it to 21. Lol
Mar 9, 2015 at 7:33 AM - Mike Kelly: hah
Mar 9, 2015 at 7:33 AM - Mike Kelly: my goal is just to leave the world a better place than when i came into it
    Mar 9, 2015 at 7:33 AM - TechSupportGo: i got a massive problem!!!
Mar 9, 2015 at 7:33 AM - Ben R: Funny story.. wife and I were discussing "road trip to alaska this summer on the bike? or kid?" Kid won out. Sex always wins at 25
    Mar 9, 2015 at 7:34 AM - Ben R: your massive problem?
Mar 9, 2015 at 7:34 AM - jbigler1986: Sex always wins at any age
Mar 9, 2015 at 7:34 AM - Ben R: no ispiration for a project to print?
Mar 9, 2015 at 7:34 AM - Mike Kelly: true that
Mar 9, 2015 at 7:34 AM - TechSupportGo: I came home to find this!! https://drive.google.com/file/d/0B8FWeUGKaHaxRGhuemRJU2FXckU/view?usp=sharing
    Mar 9, 2015 at 7:34 AM - Ben R: I'm having a creative dry spell.
Mar 9, 2015 at 7:35 AM - TechSupportGo: any suggestions?
Mar 9, 2015 at 7:35 AM - Ben R: crack head steal your heater?
Mar 9, 2015 at 7:35 AM - Mike Kelly: did it bend?
Mar 9, 2015 at 7:35 AM - Mike Kelly: submit a replacement reques
Mar 9, 2015 at 7:35 AM - Mike Kelly: looks to be leaking out the top
    Mar 9, 2015 at 7:35 AM - Ben R: yea
Mar 9, 2015 at 7:35 AM - Ben R: looks leaky.. is it otherwise damaged?
Mar 9, 2015 at 7:36 AM - jbigler1986: Just looks leaky to ne
Mar 9, 2015 at 7:36 AM - Ben R: leaky sucks.. but hey.. you got the boot off.. that's step one
Mar 9, 2015 at 7:36 AM - jbigler1986: Can't wait to get rid of that damn boot Wednesday
Mar 9, 2015 at 7:36 AM - Ben R: still think there's got to be a way around that. My brakes don't leak. very similar connection
Mar 9, 2015 at 7:36 AM - TechSupportGo: looking now
    Mar 9, 2015 at 7:36 AM - Ben R: just need a seat. flat to flat isn't a thing
Mar 9, 2015 at 7:36 AM - jbigler1986: Heat it to about 130 and clean it
Mar 9, 2015 at 7:37 AM - Ben R: when it is.. .theres a gasket
Mar 9, 2015 at 7:37 AM - Mike Kelly: yeah and it doesn't help that they don't machine the mating surface
Mar 9, 2015 at 7:37 AM - Ben R: even if they do... they'd have to machine them together.
Mar 9, 2015 at 7:37 AM - Ben R: they have to be square to eachother.
    Mar 9, 2015 at 7:37 AM - Ben R: which isn't gauranteed
Mar 9, 2015 at 7:37 AM - TechSupportGo: it clogged up everything
Mar 9, 2015 at 7:38 AM - Ben R: if it was a >> type connection with a softer metal...
Mar 9, 2015 at 7:38 AM - Mike Kelly: yeah robo has a pretty cool design they're working on for a cold connection
    Mar 9, 2015 at 7:38 AM - Ben R: or a deformable gasket
Mar 9, 2015 at 7:38 AM - Mike Kelly: yeah an aluminum gasket or something
Mar 9, 2015 at 7:38 AM - Ben R: I don't have a lot of experience.. is there any other style of hotend connection
Mar 9, 2015 at 7:38 AM - Ben R: hey. you were "dissing" my gasket speak earlier
Mar 9, 2015 at 7:38 AM - Mike Kelly: the only all metal one i've seen is the prometheus
Mar 9, 2015 at 7:39 AM - Ben R: all one piece you mean?
Mar 9, 2015 at 7:39 AM - Mike Kelly: rigbht
Mar 9, 2015 at 7:39 AM - TechSupportGo: can I just unscrew that hotend
Mar 9, 2015 at 7:39 AM - Mike Kelly: i think if you machine the mating ends you don't need a gasket
Mar 9, 2015 at 7:39 AM - Ben R: is the nozzle not removale?
    Mar 9, 2015 at 7:39 AM - Mike Kelly: like the E3D
Mar 9, 2015 at 7:39 AM - Mike Kelly: the nozzles removable but it's an all in one heat break/nozzle
Mar 9, 2015 at 7:39 AM - Mike Kelly: which makes the nozzle like $25
    Mar 9, 2015 at 7:39 AM - Ben R: I think I have something like that actually
Mar 9, 2015 at 7:40 AM - Ben R: It didn't leak.. but it was PEEK and I melted it
Mar 9, 2015 at 7:40 AM - Mike Kelly: i'd like to see one with a flare fitting or something
    Mar 9, 2015 at 7:40 AM - Mike Kelly: i forget if anyone's taken apart the ubi-aluminum
Mar 9, 2015 at 7:40 AM - Mike Kelly: from printrbot
Mar 9, 2015 at 7:40 AM - Ben R: yea.. you cant guarantee a mating surface without some sort of tolerance mitigation
    Mar 9, 2015 at 7:41 AM - Ben R: I have a printrbot friend.. I can "axe" jom
    Mar 9, 2015 at 7:41 AM - Ben R: him
Mar 9, 2015 at 7:41 AM - Mike Kelly: the heatbreak on the E3D is all one piece of machined stainless, the hexagon is 3 parts
Mar 9, 2015 at 7:41 AM - Mike Kelly: which is so dumb
Mar 9, 2015 at 7:41 AM - Ben R: ok.. so it can only go back out the top... which isn't likely
    Mar 9, 2015 at 7:42 AM - Ben R: I have an E3d coming
    Mar 9, 2015 at 7:42 AM - Mike Kelly: you'll like it
Mar 9, 2015 at 7:42 AM - Mike Kelly: the v6 is a great hot end
Mar 9, 2015 at 7:42 AM - Ben R: yea.. take apart that hotend.. clean it up. retighten
Mar 9, 2015 at 7:42 AM - Mike Kelly: never had an issue with it
Mar 9, 2015 at 7:42 AM - Ben R: my big q is... everyone with bowden.. How are you attaching your hotend to a carriage
Mar 9, 2015 at 7:43 AM - Mike Kelly: that parts easy
Mar 9, 2015 at 7:43 AM - Mike Kelly: http://e3d-online.com/E3D-v6/Spares/v6-Groove-Mounting-Plate something like this works pretty well
Mar 9, 2015 at 7:43 AM - Mike Kelly: i printed my own
Mar 9, 2015 at 7:44 AM - Ben R: Ok, I have something like that... what is holding it steady in the groove
    Mar 9, 2015 at 7:44 AM - Mike Kelly: http://www.thingiverse.com/thing:285851
Mar 9, 2015 at 7:44 AM - Mike Kelly: i wasn't too sure on that
Mar 9, 2015 at 7:45 AM - Mike Kelly: that's why i designed this part
Mar 9, 2015 at 7:45 AM - Mike Kelly: stl'
    Mar 9, 2015 at 7:45 AM - Mike Kelly: 2 and 3
    Mar 9, 2015 at 7:45 AM - Mike Kelly: j-head saddle and j-head mount
Mar 9, 2015 at 7:45 AM - Mike Kelly: once you tighten it up it's super snug
Mar 9, 2015 at 7:47 AM - Ben R: ah.. so you're sliding in that mounting plate into the mount.. forming the closing surface
Mar 9, 2015 at 7:47 AM - TechSupportGo: can i just unscrew the two allan bolts and pull that whole housing out?
Mar 9, 2015 at 7:47 AM - Mike Kelly: yup, then you use 2x M3-25mm screws and nuts to compress the plastic a bit and that snugs it up tight
    Mar 9, 2015 at 7:48 AM - Ben R: allen bolts?
    Mar 9, 2015 at 7:48 AM - Ben R: housing?
Mar 9, 2015 at 7:48 AM - Ben R: the entire hexhead comes out with 2 screws in the side of the carriage
    Mar 9, 2015 at 7:48 AM - Ben R: then drops...
    Mar 9, 2015 at 7:48 AM - TechSupportGo: ok
Mar 9, 2015 at 7:48 AM - Ben R: you need it out to work on it

Mar 9, 2015 at 7:49 AM - TechSupportGo: do the screws need to come all the way out?
    Mar 9, 2015 at 7:49 AM - Ben R: pretty much
Mar 9, 2015 at 7:49 AM - Ben R: not technically.. they are holding up /pinching the hexagon head mount
    Mar 9, 2015 at 7:49 AM - Mike Kelly: http://i.imgur.com/VLjpCHc.jpg
Mar 9, 2015 at 7:50 AM - Mike Kelly: yeah they physically deform the groove mount
Mar 9, 2015 at 7:50 AM - TechSupportGo: yep thats it, mine are allan bolts
    Mar 9, 2015 at 7:50 AM - Ben R: robo.. cant standardize
Mar 9, 2015 at 7:50 AM - Mike Kelly: yeah they changed to those not too long ago
    Mar 9, 2015 at 7:50 AM - Mike Kelly: a good idea
Mar 9, 2015 at 7:50 AM - Ben R: so with your J head mount there mike... the screws go in on the edge there like the robo jhead mount?
Mar 9, 2015 at 7:50 AM - TechSupportGo: looks like some of the teeth on the feeder bolt are missing
Mar 9, 2015 at 7:50 AM - Mike Kelly: the worst part about them not standardizing is they didn't even start a seriel number till like 2 months ago
    Mar 9, 2015 at 7:51 AM - Ben R: hobbed bolt.
    Mar 9, 2015 at 7:51 AM - Ben R: not likely
Mar 9, 2015 at 7:51 AM - Mike Kelly: correct
Mar 9, 2015 at 7:51 AM - Mike Kelly: but they don't thread into the part
Mar 9, 2015 at 7:51 AM - Mike Kelly: i have a gif of it one sec
    Mar 9, 2015 at 7:51 AM - Mike Kelly: http://i.imgur.com/YPEjQNa.gif
    Mar 9, 2015 at 7:51 AM - Ben R: gotcha
    Mar 9, 2015 at 7:51 AM - Ben R: very clear now
    Mar 9, 2015 at 7:51 AM - Ben R: very clever
Mar 9, 2015 at 7:52 AM - Ben R: as long as its secure
    Mar 9, 2015 at 7:52 AM - TechSupportGo: thanks!
Mar 9, 2015 at 7:52 AM - Mike Kelly: yeah i was kinda shocked how secure it was
Mar 9, 2015 at 7:52 AM - Ben R: printing in PET (usually prints fat) it should snug up nicely
Mar 9, 2015 at 7:52 AM - Mike Kelly: i was expecting it to be a bit loose and tend to rotate
Mar 9, 2015 at 7:52 AM - Mike Kelly: nope
Mar 9, 2015 at 7:52 AM - Ben R: flexible enough to clamp... sturdy enough not to wiggle
Mar 9, 2015 at 7:52 AM - Mike Kelly: i use a wrench to twist them
Mar 9, 2015 at 7:52 AM - Mike Kelly: since that was quicker than loosening the screw
    Mar 9, 2015 at 7:53 AM - Ben R: hmm..
Mar 9, 2015 at 7:53 AM - Mike Kelly: http://community.robo3d.com/index.php?threads/how-to-dual-bowden-e3d-on-the-robo-3d.1955/ i was pretty proud of the leveling method i used in this
    Mar 9, 2015 at 7:54 AM - Mike Kelly: http://i.imgur.com/zMaD8mA.gif
Mar 9, 2015 at 7:54 AM - Ben R: and beyond that. I have a bowden example coming... 2mm ID 4mm OD hose, and I have an extruder with a pneumatic fitting on it. I'm like... all but ready to go yea?
Mar 9, 2015 at 7:54 AM - Mike Kelly: yeah pretty much, just need a way to secure the tube to the cold end
Mar 9, 2015 at 7:54 AM - Mike Kelly: the v6 has that awesome pneumatic joint
Mar 9, 2015 at 7:54 AM - Mike Kelly: i love that thing
    Mar 9, 2015 at 7:55 AM - Ben R: hmm dual extruder...
    Mar 9, 2015 at 7:55 AM - Ben R: I have an aapter.. 6mm to 4mm od pneumatic fitting
    Mar 9, 2015 at 7:55 AM - Ben R: 6mm threaded that is
Mar 9, 2015 at 7:55 AM - Mike Kelly: you gonna do it on the hexagon?
Mar 9, 2015 at 7:55 AM - Mike Kelly: yeah M6 is the common name
    Mar 9, 2015 at 7:55 AM - Ben R: no no no... e3d
Mar 9, 2015 at 7:56 AM - Mike Kelly: oh then if you got the E3Dv6 you won't need to PTC fitting
Mar 9, 2015 at 7:56 AM - Mike Kelly: that's all done on the heatsink
Mar 9, 2015 at 7:56 AM - TechSupportGo: nice watch
    Mar 9, 2015 at 7:56 AM - Mike Kelly: lol that's braydon
Mar 9, 2015 at 7:56 AM - Mike Kelly: he's the CEO for a watch company as well as Robo
Mar 9, 2015 at 7:56 AM - Ben R: yea.. i mean i have it.. cuz i ordered the bowden version
    Mar 9, 2015 at 7:57 AM - Mike Kelly: i'm confused then
    Mar 9, 2015 at 7:57 AM - Mike Kelly: you got a v6 or v5?
    Mar 9, 2015 at 7:57 AM - Ben R: I ordered a v6
    Mar 9, 2015 at 7:57 AM - Ben R: I think
    Mar 9, 2015 at 7:57 AM - Ben R: I hope
    Mar 9, 2015 at 7:57 AM - Ben R: looks like
Mar 9, 2015 at 7:58 AM - Ben R: whatever.. as long as it has the bowden end (which it does) I'm fine
Mar 9, 2015 at 7:58 AM - Mike Kelly: main difference between the universal and bowden kit is the bowden comes with a longer PTFE tube and some 1/8" BSPT to 4mm tube PTC fittings
Mar 9, 2015 at 7:58 AM - Mike Kelly: the metal parts are identical
    Mar 9, 2015 at 7:59 AM - Ben R: eso http://e3d-online.com/v6-1.75mm-Universal
    Mar 9, 2015 at 7:59 AM - Ben R: yea.. (i didn;t get it at e3d.)
Mar 9, 2015 at 7:59 AM - Mike Kelly: filastruder or printed solid?
Mar 9, 2015 at 7:59 AM - Mike Kelly: http://e3d-online.com/E3D-v6/Full-Kit/v6-1.75mm-Universal-Bowden this one is what you get if you need bowden
Mar 9, 2015 at 8:00 AM - TechSupportGo: what the best way to clean this bad boy? can I just boil it?
Mar 9, 2015 at 8:00 AM - Mike Kelly: acetone
Mar 9, 2015 at 8:00 AM - Mike Kelly: or MEK
    Mar 9, 2015 at 8:00 AM - Ben R: no no no
Mar 9, 2015 at 8:00 AM - Mike Kelly: boiling is only 100C, won't get hot enough really
    Mar 9, 2015 at 8:00 AM - Ben R: I just scrape
Mar 9, 2015 at 8:00 AM - jbigler1986: Heat it up and scrape
Mar 9, 2015 at 8:00 AM - Ben R: heat it till its not "hard" and scrape
Mar 9, 2015 at 8:00 AM - Mike Kelly: i just heat it up with the heater and use a brass bristle brush
    Mar 9, 2015 at 8:01 AM - Ben R: that'd do too
    Mar 9, 2015 at 8:01 AM - Ben R: boiling oil?
    Mar 9, 2015 at 8:01 AM - Ben R: acetone touch PLA?
Mar 9, 2015 at 8:01 AM - Mike Kelly: you could do it with oil just be crazy careful handling it
Mar 9, 2015 at 8:01 AM - Mike Kelly: Acetone softens PLA, doesn't really solve like ABS does but it gets weak enough to peal
    Mar 9, 2015 at 8:01 AM - Ben R: gasoline kills pla doesn't it?
Mar 9, 2015 at 8:02 AM - Mike Kelly: i could see that, there's some really harsh chemicals in gas
Mar 9, 2015 at 8:02 AM - Ben R: I did get the bowden one.. NP..
Mar 9, 2015 at 8:02 AM - Mike Kelly: i bet Xylene would take it off as well
    Mar 9, 2015 at 8:02 AM - Ben R: I frequently refer to chemical /plastics charts.
Mar 9, 2015 at 8:02 AM - Mike Kelly: i use cole parmer
Mar 9, 2015 at 8:02 AM - Ben R: anything that will kill you kills it
Mar 9, 2015 at 8:02 AM - Mike Kelly: though they don't have PLA on there iirc
    Mar 9, 2015 at 8:02 AM - Ben R: cole parmer? hmm
    Mar 9, 2015 at 8:03 AM - Mike Kelly: http://www.coleparmer.com/Chemical-Resistance
    Mar 9, 2015 at 8:03 AM - Ben R: oh.. for that
Mar 9, 2015 at 8:03 AM - Ben R: I thoguth it was a solvent you got FROM them
Mar 9, 2015 at 8:03 AM - Mike Kelly: OHH
Mar 9, 2015 at 8:03 AM - Mike Kelly: no
Mar 9, 2015 at 8:03 AM - Mike Kelly: i think they only do industrial sales
    Mar 9, 2015 at 8:03 AM - Ben R: just a little club soda
Mar 9, 2015 at 8:03 AM - Mike Kelly: i just go to lowes or ace
Mar 9, 2015 at 8:03 AM - Mike Kelly: haha
    Mar 9, 2015 at 8:03 AM - Ben R: gets out anything
Mar 9, 2015 at 8:03 AM - Mike Kelly: a little club soda gets everything out
Mar 9, 2015 at 8:04 AM - Ben R: I try to stay away from the VOCs... acetone is "fairly inert".. but still
    Mar 9, 2015 at 8:04 AM - Ben R: I've painted enough cars where ... I worry.
Mar 9, 2015 at 8:04 AM - Ben R: No need for extra VOCs.. mutagens.. what have you.
Mar 9, 2015 at 8:04 AM - Ben R: On top of that.. it just runs straight through your skin

    Mar 9, 2015 at 8:07 AM - Ben R: no
Mar 9, 2015 at 8:09 AM - Ben R: well.. do you have any aircraft in the way?
Mar 9, 2015 at 8:09 AM - Mike Kelly: I spent almost a year making synthetic fuels. Got enough carcinogens to last a lifetime
Mar 9, 2015 at 8:09 AM - Ben R: well.. do you have any aircraft in the way?
Mar 9, 2015 at 8:09 AM - TechSupportGo: can i just heat it on an open fire? are there any rubber seals in there or gaskets i should know about?
Mar 9, 2015 at 8:09 AM - Ben R: well.. do you have any aircraft in the way?
Mar 9, 2015 at 8:10 AM - TechSupportGo: can i just heat it on an open fire? are there any rubber seals in there or gaskets i should know about?
Mar 9, 2015 at 8:10 AM - Ben R: is the website dying?
    Mar 9, 2015 at 8:10 AM - Ben R: I use butane
Mar 9, 2015 at 8:10 AM - TechSupportGo: yes it is
Mar 9, 2015 at 8:10 AM - Ben R: just heat it up a few seconds
Mar 9, 2015 at 8:11 AM - Ben R: so its not me
Mar 9, 2015 at 8:11 AM - Ben R: but really.. just leave it cold and scrape with a ... scraper
Mar 9, 2015 at 8:11 AM - TechSupportGo: its slowing down or something
    Mar 9, 2015 at 8:11 AM - Ben R: you can't hurt a heat block
    Mar 9, 2015 at 8:11 AM - Ben R: and if you magically do .. they're like a buck a piece
Mar 9, 2015 at 8:11 AM - Ben R: just make sure to remove wires
Mar 9, 2015 at 8:11 AM - Ben R: which are even cheaper actually.
Mar 9, 2015 at 8:12 AM - Ben R: jebus.. that took forever to post... what are you doing to the internet MK
Mar 9, 2015 at 8:12 AM - TechSupportGo: I have butane do i just soak it down
Mar 9, 2015 at 8:12 AM - Ben R: no.. burn it.. butane fueled torch. mapp gas.. bic .. whatever
    Mar 9, 2015 at 8:13 AM - TechSupportGo: ahhh
Mar 9, 2015 at 8:13 AM - Ben R: just heat it a second.. or don't. you can just scrape it off with a butter knife
Mar 9, 2015 at 8:13 AM - Ben R: or plug it in and heat it
Mar 9, 2015 at 8:14 AM - TechSupportGo: does the bottom part come out of the vented part?
Mar 9, 2015 at 8:14 AM - Ben R: this web site doesn't seem healthy. I get very wonky responses to it. I might just try to trace down this server..
Mar 9, 2015 at 8:14 AM - Ben R: yup... that's why god gave you a 5.5 mm wrench with your robo
Mar 9, 2015 at 8:14 AM - Ben R: .. but you have to get that glob off first
Mar 9, 2015 at 8:14 AM - TechSupportGo: looks like a smaller bolt hole than 5.5
    Mar 9, 2015 at 8:15 AM - Ben R: no.. no hole
Mar 9, 2015 at 8:16 AM - Ben R: 2 flat sides on the threaded part that goes into the block.
    Mar 9, 2015 at 8:16 AM - Ben R: bad design
Mar 9, 2015 at 8:16 AM - Ben R: This site is hosted on a minecraft server in germany
Mar 9, 2015 at 8:18 AM - Ben R: 2 flat sides on the nozzle. those are your points of leverage. Or any one of those and leverage against the block with like a... i dunno 16mm wrench if there's any such thing
    Mar 9, 2015 at 8:18 AM - Ben R: I think I use 17/18 something
Mar 9, 2015 at 8:18 AM - Ben R: lefty loosey. and don't get your wrench stuck under the hexagon heat sink
Mar 9, 2015 at 8:19 AM - Ben R: once you have it all cleaned off.. take it apart.. screw in the nozzle.. then screw in the heat sink side. till they meet.
Mar 9, 2015 at 8:19 AM - Ben R: then back out the nozzle like.. 1/4 turn, turn in the heat sink side 1/4 turn... then heat and tighten. I figured I do about 10 in/lbs
Mar 9, 2015 at 8:20 AM - Ben R: easy to break the nozzle off.
    Mar 9, 2015 at 8:20 AM - TechSupportGo: ok
Mar 9, 2015 at 8:20 AM - Ben R: but it has to be tight
Mar 9, 2015 at 8:20 AM - Mike Kelly: Yeah I'm on lte. Didn't know if thy sent at first.
Mar 9, 2015 at 8:22 AM - TechSupportGo: I think the internet is broke
Mar 9, 2015 at 8:22 AM - TechSupportGo: phone and pc are jacking up lately
Mar 9, 2015 at 8:22 AM - Ben R: Its not you.. its robo. I'm good elsewhere...

Mar 9, 2015 at 8:22 AM - Ben R: that is.. hitting redline
Mar 9, 2015 at 8:23 AM - Ben R: things pop right up.. but poor robo. must be a big minecraft party going on
Mar 9, 2015 at 8:23 AM - TechSupportGo: so all of these screw apart once the pla melts enough?https://drive.google.com/file/d/0B8FWeUGKaHaxRGhuemRJU2FXckU/view?usp=sharing

Mar 9, 2015 at 8:25 AM - TechSupportGo: is there a screw in that little hole?
    Mar 9, 2015 at 8:25 AM - Ben R: no and no
Mar 9, 2015 at 8:25 AM - Mike Kelly: Yes there is
Mar 9, 2015 at 8:25 AM - Stephen Capistron: Anyone have a CAD file for the X-Idler?
    Mar 9, 2015 at 8:26 AM - Mike Kelly: I think it's a M2 set screw
Mar 9, 2015 at 8:26 AM - Ben R: You'd think.. It comes with a wrench for it. but it doesn't do anytihng. maybe its always stripped
Mar 9, 2015 at 8:26 AM - Ben R: ever see the netflix original 3d printing movie?
Mar 9, 2015 at 8:26 AM - Stephen Capistron: Looking to see if a change is possible and the stl file isn't much help
    Mar 9, 2015 at 8:27 AM - Ben R: cad file?
    Mar 9, 2015 at 8:27 AM - Mike Kelly: I have a solidworks version I made
    Mar 9, 2015 at 8:27 AM - Ben R: you're talking about the x carriage?
Mar 9, 2015 at 8:27 AM - Ben R: yea is that posted?
Mar 9, 2015 at 8:27 AM - Mike Kelly: It's close but removes the injection molding channels
Mar 9, 2015 at 8:28 AM - Mike Kelly: No I've never posted.
Mar 9, 2015 at 8:28 AM - Ben R: and how much does that solid works cost? When there's no price, I get very suspicious
Mar 9, 2015 at 8:28 AM - Mike Kelly: Alright dinner time
    Mar 9, 2015 at 8:28 AM - Ben R: ditto
Mar 9, 2015 at 8:28 AM - Stephen Capistron: solidworks would do
Mar 9, 2015 at 8:28 AM - Stephen Capistron: i have access to solidworks and CREO
Mar 9, 2015 at 8:32 AM - TechSupportGo: does the thermistat thingy just slide into place? is there something holding it there?
    Mar 9, 2015 at 8:32 AM - Ben R: http://www.thingiverse.com/thing:647798/#files
    Mar 9, 2015 at 8:32 AM - Ben R: didja look?
Mar 9, 2015 at 8:32 AM - Ben R: yup.. just slides into the rubber thingy
    Mar 9, 2015 at 8:32 AM - Ben R: buy a threaded one
Mar 9, 2015 at 8:33 AM - Ben R: like 2 bucks and some soldering.. or 12 bucks and some soldering from printedsolid? or sometihng
    Mar 9, 2015 at 8:33 AM - TechSupportGo: yeah i looked, i though maybe i broke it
    Mar 9, 2015 at 8:34 AM - Ben R: quite possible
Mar 9, 2015 at 8:34 AM - Ben R: they are not durable
Mar 9, 2015 at 8:34 AM - Stephen Capistron: yeah
Mar 9, 2015 at 8:34 AM - Stephen Capistron: i'm looking for the idler side
Mar 9, 2015 at 8:34 AM - TechSupportGo: very helpful info, thanks everyone
Mar 9, 2015 at 8:35 AM - Ben R: what is that? the motor mount or the part that rides the arms ?
Mar 9, 2015 at 8:35 AM - Ben R: I think idler.. I think the spinny thing on the left
Mar 9, 2015 at 8:35 AM - Stephen Capistron: part that rides the arm
    Mar 9, 2015 at 8:35 AM - Ben R: haven't seen one
Mar 9, 2015 at 8:35 AM - Stephen Capistron: although the motor mount side would work too as I could just cut the motor mount off
Mar 9, 2015 at 8:36 AM - Ben R: should be a snap though.. to design that is.. just 4 holes
    Mar 9, 2015 at 8:36 AM - Ben R: 1 hexagonal
Mar 9, 2015 at 8:37 AM - Stephen Capistron: but i don't know the spacing
Mar 9, 2015 at 8:37 AM - Stephen Capistron: and i could guess and get close, but i'm doubtful in my abilities
    Mar 9, 2015 at 8:37 AM - Ben R: hmm
    Mar 9, 2015 at 8:39 AM - Ben R: measure the STL?
    Mar 9, 2015 at 8:39 AM - Ben R: http://www.thingiverse.com/thing:69794/#files
Mar 9, 2015 at 8:39 AM - Stephen Capistron: been down that path with netfabb
Mar 9, 2015 at 8:40 AM - Stephen Capistron: it is hard because it can't pin to centers of features
Mar 9, 2015 at 8:40 AM - Ben R: you don't have to... really. You know the hole diameters
    Mar 9, 2015 at 8:40 AM - Ben R: er.. hmm
Mar 9, 2015 at 8:40 AM - Ben R: I did this when copying an STL... can't remember my process
Mar 9, 2015 at 8:41 AM - Ben R: Oh.. I used the STL to subtract from a block that I could measure

Mar 9, 2015 at 8:44 AM - Stephen Capistron: i can get netfabb to add, but not subtract
Mar 9, 2015 at 8:44 AM - Stephen Capistron: i'm going to have to think about this for a few
Mar 9, 2015 at 8:44 AM - Ben R: netfabb.. I don't know nuttin about it. I use open cad and scad
Mar 9, 2015 at 8:44 AM - Ben R: sorry freecad not open
Mar 9, 2015 at 8:45 AM - Stephen Capistron: i think i put one of those on this laptop
Mar 9, 2015 at 8:45 AM - jbigler1986: So I'm not printing anything until I get my threaded thermositor
Mar 9, 2015 at 8:46 AM - jbigler1986: It needs tightened and I can't tighten it without heating it and the thermosistor will break again. Ahhh
    Mar 9, 2015 at 8:46 AM - Ben R: I also keep a dozen or two thermisotrs
Mar 9, 2015 at 8:46 AM - Ben R: never know when you need one
Mar 9, 2015 at 8:47 AM - Ben R: you're looking for something like this

Mar 9, 2015 at 8:57 AM - Ben R: it will be..... it will be
    Mar 9, 2015 at 8:58 AM - jbigler1986: thats what i ordered
Mar 9, 2015 at 8:59 AM - Ben R: yea.. little soldering needed. but if you can't solder.. just hang up your printer now.
    Mar 9, 2015 at 9:09 AM - jbigler1986: I can solder. Soldered it 3 times now
    Mar 9, 2015 at 9:09 AM - jbigler1986: Use to solder motherboards

Mar 9, 2015 at 9:11 AM - jbigler1986: How do I get the wire out?
Mar 9, 2015 at 9:11 AM - jbigler1986: Want to soak it in acetone but I need to remove the wire. It's coated in plastic though
Mar 9, 2015 at 9:12 AM - Ben R: yea.. and pla isn't susceptible to acetone loosen and remove.
Mar 9, 2015 at 9:12 AM - Ben R: heat it.. and remove it.. w/e
    Mar 9, 2015 at 9:13 AM - jbigler1986: I can't heat it. Thermosistor is broke
    Mar 9, 2015 at 9:14 AM - jbigler1986: Hmmm
Mar 9, 2015 at 9:20 AM - jbigler1986: Can I just soak it in acetone and buy a new heater wire
    Mar 9, 2015 at 9:22 AM - Ben R: acetone won't work
Mar 9, 2015 at 9:22 AM - Ben R: heat it and pull it out
Mar 9, 2015 at 9:22 AM - Ben R: or just pull it out.
    Mar 9, 2015 at 9:22 AM - Ben R: heat it with a torch..
Mar 9, 2015 at 9:23 AM - Ben R: or if you're waiting for a thermistor.. but a couple blocks and heaters too
Mar 9, 2015 at 9:23 AM - Ben R: and some nozzles.. that one that comes with the hex is junk
Mar 9, 2015 at 9:23 AM - Ben R: just the flat side stuff.. bs
Mar 9, 2015 at 9:24 AM - Ben R: they call it hexagon then put flat side fittings on it
    Mar 9, 2015 at 9:24 AM - Ben R: ironic
Mar 9, 2015 at 9:24 AM - jbigler1986: Where can I get that stuff in the states
    Mar 9, 2015 at 9:25 AM - jbigler1986: Could I heat it with a flame?

Mar 9, 2015 at 9:29 AM - Ben R: The hole there? there's supposedly a tiny set screw in there
    Mar 9, 2015 at 9:29 AM - Ben R: I've never gotten it out
Mar 9, 2015 at 9:29 AM - Ben R: or even felt it with an allen
Mar 9, 2015 at 9:30 AM - Ben R: it comes with a tiny allen. but..
Mar 9, 2015 at 9:31 AM - jbigler1986: No. The metal pipe coming out of the heatsink down to the heat block
    Mar 9, 2015 at 9:31 AM - Ben R: oh like.. nomenclature?
Mar 9, 2015 at 9:31 AM - Ben R: on other hotends its a throat
Mar 9, 2015 at 9:32 AM - jbigler1986: It's going from heatsink to threads to heat block
    Mar 9, 2015 at 9:33 AM - Ben R: yea.
    Mar 9, 2015 at 9:33 AM - Ben R: would be a throat
    Mar 9, 2015 at 9:33 AM - Ben R: not a separate part
Mar 9, 2015 at 9:33 AM - jbigler1986: Is that part of the heatsink?
Mar 9, 2015 at 9:34 AM - jbigler1986: Or nozzle or heat block
    Mar 9, 2015 at 9:36 AM - Ben R: heatsink
Mar 9, 2015 at 9:36 AM - Ben R: oh.. you haven't gotten this apart yet
    Mar 9, 2015 at 9:37 AM - jbigler1986: Nope
Mar 9, 2015 at 9:37 AM - Ben R: and you haven't thrown it out the window?

    Mar 9, 2015 at 9:37 AM - jbigler1986: Not yet
Mar 9, 2015 at 9:39 AM - jbigler1986: Might just order a new hexagon hotend set for 49. If I could find a e3d v6 for the same price I would get it
Mar 9, 2015 at 9:40 AM - Ben R: I really don't believe in the holiness of the brand... they're open source.
    Mar 9, 2015 at 9:40 AM - Ben R: try a 20 dollar version.. at least as a spare
    Mar 9, 2015 at 9:40 AM - Ben R: well.. public license.. I'm not a lawyer

    Mar 9, 2015 at 9:40 AM - Ben R: or .. w/e
Mar 9, 2015 at 9:41 AM - jbigler1986: Lol. Does the heating element have anything holding it in like a set screw or is it just pressure fit
Mar 9, 2015 at 9:42 AM - Ben R: yes.. set screw in the front
Mar 9, 2015 at 9:43 AM - Ben R: you don't NEED to take it out. just scrape around it
    Mar 9, 2015 at 9:44 AM - jbigler1986: That's true. Is it possible that it's cracked? That's why it's ozzing
Mar 9, 2015 at 9:44 AM - jbigler1986: It bent like a week ago due to a failed print. I very carefully bent it straight
Mar 9, 2015 at 9:46 AM - jbigler1986: Does anybody have contact with printed solid?
    Mar 9, 2015 at 9:47 AM - Ben R: its loose
    Mar 9, 2015 at 9:47 AM - Ben R: it is possibe
Mar 9, 2015 at 9:47 AM - Ben R: if it was bent

Mar 9, 2015 at 9:51 AM - jbigler1986: I think I'm just going to order a new hexagon set to be safe
Mar 9, 2015 at 9:53 AM - Ben R: no safety.. just clean that one and see
    Mar 9, 2015 at 9:53 AM - Ben R: you can't lose
    Mar 9, 2015 at 9:53 AM - Ben R: scrape... use
Mar 9, 2015 at 9:54 AM - jbigler1986: I will order a new one at least to have a backup. I will try to fix my current one
Mar 9, 2015 at 9:56 AM - TechSupportGo: whats that bolt called that pushes the filament down and where can i get a better one?
Mar 9, 2015 at 9:57 AM - TechSupportGo: didnt mean to sound pushy lol
Mar 9, 2015 at 9:58 AM - TechSupportGo: my teeth are just messing up

Mar 9, 2015 at 10:14 AM - Ben R: it can become hobbled
Mar 9, 2015 at 10:14 AM - Ben R: don;t order another hexagon.. they all leak. pain in the butt
Mar 9, 2015 at 10:15 AM - Ben R: order anything called "all metal".... unless you stick to PLA.. then order anything
Mar 9, 2015 at 10:15 AM - Bill Monroe: heh my hexgan never leaked
Mar 9, 2015 at 10:15 AM - Bill Monroe: hexagon
Mar 9, 2015 at 10:15 AM - Bill Monroe: thousand of them in use successfully

Mar 9, 2015 at 10:15 AM - Ben R: measure your hobb(led) bolt and find one on ebay or just make your own
    Mar 9, 2015 at 10:15 AM - Ben R: with a lot of fiddling
    Mar 9, 2015 at 10:16 AM - Ben R: thousands... pff
Mar 9, 2015 at 10:16 AM - Ben R: heard the other day that they just cleared 1 M printers.. think it might have been world wide
Mar 9, 2015 at 10:16 AM - Ben R: that is... commercially sold printers
Mar 9, 2015 at 10:16 AM - Bill Monroe: ok lots of thousands
Mar 9, 2015 at 10:16 AM - Ben R: hexagons? who uses those?
Mar 9, 2015 at 10:17 AM - Ben R: I am thinking maybe they have produced a couple thousand heagons.
Mar 9, 2015 at 10:17 AM - Bill Monroe: ok you think that
Mar 9, 2015 at 10:17 AM - Ben R: and with E3d the same price... and reportedly not leaky...
Mar 9, 2015 at 10:18 AM - Ben R: I WILL think that. No idea how to fact check it. Its not very popular.
Mar 9, 2015 at 10:19 AM - Ben R: it does do the job, once you get it to not leak
Mar 9, 2015 at 10:24 AM - jbigler1986: I have read hexagon is pretty much just as good
    Mar 9, 2015 at 10:26 AM - TechSupportGo: http://www.ebay.com/itm/Robo-3D-Hob...673?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item33962860a1
Mar 9, 2015 at 10:28 AM - Ben R: once not leaking... thermistor is silly
Mar 9, 2015 at 10:28 AM - TechSupportGo: should i file the top of that extruder tip flat?
    Mar 9, 2015 at 10:28 AM - Ben R: should be
Mar 9, 2015 at 10:29 AM - Ben R: if you can somehow polish it square
    Mar 9, 2015 at 10:31 AM - jbigler1986: Just ordered another hexagon
Mar 9, 2015 at 10:31 AM - jbigler1986: Printed solid is the man
Mar 9, 2015 at 10:37 AM - Bill Monroe: Matt is a valuable resource
Mar 9, 2015 at 10:41 AM - jbigler1986: I will have it Wednesday. Same day as my threaded thermosistor
Mar 9, 2015 at 11:14 AM - TechSupportGo: do i need that rubber shield?
Mar 9, 2015 at 11:16 AM - TechSupportGo: on the hot tip
Mar 9, 2015 at 11:16 AM - Mike Kelly: no
Mar 9, 2015 at 11:17 AM - Mike Kelly: it keeps it clean, holds the thermistor, and keeps it a bit warmer
    Mar 9, 2015 at 11:17 AM - TechSupportGo: thanks
Mar 9, 2015 at 11:18 AM - TechSupportGo: do you think olive oil will help if i dont have canola
Mar 9, 2015 at 11:18 AM - Mike Kelly: absolutely not
Mar 9, 2015 at 11:18 AM - Mike Kelly: go buy some canola, it's like a dollar
    Mar 9, 2015 at 11:18 AM - TechSupportGo: ok
Mar 9, 2015 at 11:18 AM - TechSupportGo: I ordered that bolt too
    Mar 9, 2015 at 11:19 AM - jbigler1986: New hexagon hotend
Mar 9, 2015 at 11:19 AM - jbigler1986: I was afraid that I might have cracked mine so I ordered a new one
Mar 9, 2015 at 11:21 AM - jbigler1986: I will clean up the old one when I get the thermosistor. Gotta do a little surgery to even get the old glass thermosistor out of the old one though. It's stuck in there with melted plastic
Mar 9, 2015 at 11:21 AM - Mike Kelly: seasoning a nozzle is basically exactly the same principle as seasoning a skillet
Mar 9, 2015 at 11:21 AM - TechSupportGo: extra virgin
    Mar 9, 2015 at 11:21 AM - TechSupportGo: lol
Mar 9, 2015 at 11:24 AM - jbigler1986: Yep. Never wash it. Just wipe it clean
Mar 9, 2015 at 11:25 AM - Mike Kelly: you can wash a skillet
Mar 9, 2015 at 11:25 AM - Mike Kelly: just gotta make sure it dries completely or else the water can form oxides
Mar 9, 2015 at 11:25 AM - jbigler1986: Hey Mike did you see how bad my nozzle was oozing
Mar 9, 2015 at 11:26 AM - Mike Kelly: yes
    Mar 9, 2015 at 11:26 AM - jbigler1986: Horrible
Mar 9, 2015 at 11:26 AM - TechSupportGo: i think mine just came loose
Mar 9, 2015 at 11:27 AM - jbigler1986: Hopefully I don't need to tighten the new one. But if I do at least I won't have to mess with the boot and thermistor
    Mar 9, 2015 at 11:27 AM - Mike Kelly: get an e3dv6
Mar 9, 2015 at 11:27 AM - jbigler1986: Do any stores have heat resistant tape that you are aware of
Mar 9, 2015 at 11:28 AM - TechSupportGo: mk you have a link to that
Mar 9, 2015 at 11:28 AM - Mike Kelly: not that i know of
Mar 9, 2015 at 11:28 AM - TechSupportGo: are they all the same
Mar 9, 2015 at 11:28 AM - Mike Kelly: well e3d-online is the british mfg, but you can buy from printed solid or filastruder
Mar 9, 2015 at 11:29 AM - Mike Kelly: don't get from ebay
    Mar 9, 2015 at 11:29 AM - TechSupportGo: around $70?
    Mar 9, 2015 at 11:30 AM - TechSupportGo: is this it http://www.filastruder.com/products/all-metal-e3d-v6-hotend
Mar 9, 2015 at 11:30 AM - jbigler1986: What benefits does it have over the hexagon
Mar 9, 2015 at 11:30 AM - TechSupportGo: it doesn't look compatible with my robo\
Mar 9, 2015 at 11:32 AM - jbigler1986: Do any modifications need to be done to add the e3d
Mar 9, 2015 at 11:33 AM - Mike Kelly: yes it is
Mar 9, 2015 at 11:33 AM - Mike Kelly: read my thread on it

Mar 9, 2015 at 11:34 AM - jbigler1986: I already ordered the hexagon. Should I see if printed solid can cancel it and order the e3d v6 instead?
Mar 9, 2015 at 11:34 AM - Mike Kelly: yes
Mar 9, 2015 at 11:35 AM - Mike Kelly: he'll do that if he hasn't shipped
    Mar 9, 2015 at 11:35 AM - jbigler1986: I literally just ordered it
Mar 9, 2015 at 11:35 AM - jbigler1986: Was talking to him through convo
Mar 9, 2015 at 11:35 AM - Mike Kelly: yeah it might not fit with the stock fan shroud but you can print a new one
Mar 9, 2015 at 11:36 AM - jbigler1986: Well it looks like it comes with a shroud
Mar 9, 2015 at 11:36 AM - Mike Kelly: fan holder that is
Mar 9, 2015 at 11:36 AM - Mike Kelly: for the parts
    Mar 9, 2015 at 11:36 AM - jbigler1986: Polycarbonate fan shroud
Mar 9, 2015 at 11:37 AM - Mike Kelly: yeah the fan shrouds nice
    Mar 9, 2015 at 11:37 AM - jbigler1986: Confused
Mar 9, 2015 at 11:37 AM - Mike Kelly: meant to say the parts fan holder
Mar 9, 2015 at 11:37 AM - jbigler1986: So I wouldn't need to change anything besides the firmware change?
Mar 9, 2015 at 11:43 AM - jbigler1986: Does anyone have printed solid email so I can tell him I want e3d v6 instead
Mar 9, 2015 at 11:51 AM - jbigler1986: I send him a direct message. Hopefully I can get it switched
Mar 9, 2015 at 11:59 AM - jbigler1986: I already have the low profile 40mm fan shrouds. So I'm good to go right?
Mar 9, 2015 at 12:39 PM - Mike Glass: Go Support Tech
Mar 9, 2015 at 1:07 PM - TechSupportGo: whats uppppppp!
Mar 9, 2015 at 1:07 PM - TechSupportGo: wazzzz uuuuppppppp
Mar 9, 2015 at 1:08 PM - TechSupportGo: I just got from walmart with canola oil !! lol
Mar 9, 2015 at 1:08 PM - TechSupportGo: had a leaky extruder and bunching up filament, it should be good now about to test
    Mar 9, 2015 at 8:56 PM - TechSupportGo: http://www.ustream.tv/channel/robo-3d-r1-live-techsupportgo
    Mar 9, 2015 at 8:59 PM - jbigler1986: good morning
    Mar 9, 2015 at 8:59 PM - jbigler1986: Ordered the E3D V6. Will be here tomorrow
Mar 9, 2015 at 9:00 PM - Bill Monroe: good morning

Mar 9, 2015 9:00 PM - Bill Monroe: good morning
Mar 9, 2015 9:01 PM - jbigler1986: Hopefully you got your nozzle fixed.
Mar 9, 2015 9:02 PM - Bill Monroe: <-- going to watch "Better Call Saul"
Mar 9, 2015 9:02 PM - Bill Monroe: My nozzles were never broken :)
    Mar 9, 2015 9:02 PM - jbigler1986: Breaking bad. Great show
    Mar 9, 2015 9:03 PM - jbigler1986: I want another season
Mar 9, 2015 9:06 PM - jbigler1986: Matt from Printed Solid is the best. He changed my order this morning from hexagon to e3d v6 at the last minute.
Mar 9, 2015 9:12 PM - jbigler1986: Now I want to go work from home today and watch some Breaking Bad. Thanks Bill. Lol
    Mar 9, 2015 11:02 PM - Mike Kelly: mornin
Mar 9, 2015 11:43 PM - JeffTheMess: Anyone print anything exciting today?
    Mar 9, 2015 11:47 PM - jbigler1986: Morning
Mar 9, 2015 11:48 PM - jbigler1986: My printer is shut down until I get my E3Dv6 tomorrow
    Mar 9, 2015 11:50 PM - JeffTheMess: E3Dv6 worth getting?
    Mar 9, 2015 11:50 PM - jbigler1986: How much do you print?
Mar 9, 2015 11:50 PM - jbigler1986: All the time or just for fun every now and then
Mar 9, 2015 11:51 PM - JeffTheMess: Lately it's becoming more popular in my household
Mar 9, 2015 11:52 PM - JeffTheMess: so yeah all the time now
Mar 9, 2015 11:52 PM - jbigler1986: Printed solid said if you don't print all of the time the hexagon is just fine. If you print all of the time he said E3D is the way to go for sure
Mar 9, 2015 11:53 PM - jbigler1986: Plus I was ordering a new hotend anyways so the enxtra $20 bucks seemed worth it
Mar 9, 2015 11:53 PM - jbigler1986: Easier to work on if needed as well
Mar 9, 2015 11:55 PM - JeffTheMess: Sounds good...Gotta let us know how it works out
    Mar 9, 2015 11:56 PM - jbigler1986: I will for sure. Also ordered a threaded thermosistor
Mar 9, 2015 11:57 PM - Mike Kelly: yeah if there's nothing wrong with your hex stick with it
Mar 9, 2015 11:57 PM - Mike Kelly: the E3Dv6 is my favorite all metal right now
Mar 9, 2015 11:57 PM - jbigler1986: Yeah I'm pretty excited. I just need to make the firmware change right?
    Mar 9, 2015 11:58 PM - Mike Kelly: yup it's really easy
Mar 9, 2015 11:58 PM - Mike Kelly: there's some other mods i suggest in the thread but they're optional
Mar 9, 2015 11:59 PM - jbigler1986: What's the reason for the firmware changes exactly?
Mar 9, 2015 11:59 PM - jbigler1986: DOes your edited firmware have the LCD screen changes in it to already?
Mar 9, 2015 11:59 PM - Mike Kelly: the thermistor tables are slightly different
    Mar 9, 2015 11:59 PM - JeffTheMess: Great, now I want one
Mar 10, 2015 12:00 AM - Mike Kelly: you can get by not making any firmware changes because they're so close
Mar 10, 2015 12:00 AM - Mike Kelly: but if you want to know 195C is 195C then you make the change
Mar 10, 2015 12:00 AM - Mike Kelly: my firmware doesn't have any edits for the graphics, just the smart/xxl
Mar 10, 2015 12:01 AM - jbigler1986: SO I will just grab the stock firmware and redit the lcd screen and thermosistor stuff
    Mar 10, 2015 12:01 AM - Mike Kelly: yeah it's easy
Mar 10, 2015 12:02 AM - Mike Kelly: there's like no risk either so nothing to be intimidated about
Mar 10, 2015 12:02 AM - JeffTheMess: Hey Mike have you ever tried printing lower than 100 microns? With what you have now?
Mar 10, 2015 12:02 AM - jbigler1986: Yeah I had no issues doing the LCD screen edits so these will be just as easy
Mar 10, 2015 12:03 AM - Mike Kelly: my printer is far from stock, but i've seen someone print down to 10microns on the robo
    Mar 10, 2015 12:03 AM - jbigler1986: Can I use bigger nozzles with the e3d if I want to?
    Mar 10, 2015 12:03 AM - Mike Kelly: mmmhm
Mar 10, 2015 12:03 AM - Mike Kelly: you can do it on either really
    Mar 10, 2015 12:04 AM - jbigler1986: any specific ones?
Mar 10, 2015 12:04 AM - Mike Kelly: E3D sells replacements in varying sizes
    Mar 10, 2015 12:04 AM - Mike Kelly: .25 to .6
Mar 10, 2015 12:04 AM - Mike Kelly: you can go from .8 to 1.2 with the volcano
    Mar 10, 2015 12:04 AM - JeffTheMess: Wow 10 microns thats nuts
Mar 10, 2015 12:05 AM - Mike Kelly: printed solid sells a .8 nozzle he makes
    Mar 10, 2015 12:05 AM - Mike Kelly: without needing a volcano
    Mar 10, 2015 12:05 AM - jbigler1986: I'm interested in the .8
Mar 10, 2015 12:05 AM - Mike Kelly: yeah i tried a 50micron once but i hadn't learned enough about fine detail printing yet
Mar 10, 2015 12:05 AM - Mike Kelly: plus 100 looks really good
Mar 10, 2015 12:06 AM - Mike Kelly: it just takes too long and you have to print slower so it's a double whammy
Mar 10, 2015 12:06 AM - jbigler1986: Does the extruder need modified to push enough filament for a .8 nozzle
Mar 10, 2015 12:06 AM - Mike Kelly: nope, mike glass has been doing it
    Mar 10, 2015 12:07 AM - Mike Kelly: http://community.robo3d.com/index.php?threads/robo-on-steroids.4716/
Mar 10, 2015 12:07 AM - JeffTheMess: yeah,im printing at 100m right now its good so far
Mar 10, 2015 12:07 AM - Mike Kelly: i mostly print functional parts like brackets and stuff
Mar 10, 2015 12:08 AM - Mike Kelly: those do better with less layers
Mar 10, 2015 12:08 AM - Mike Kelly: more layers = more chances of delamination
Mar 10, 2015 12:09 AM - JeffTheMess: you ever cast metal with your prints? would layer height matter then?
Mar 10, 2015 12:10 AM - Mike Kelly: i haven't, but the answer is yes and no
Mar 10, 2015 12:10 AM - Mike Kelly: the layers will show up in a cast
Mar 10, 2015 12:10 AM - Mike Kelly: now if it makes a difference depends on what you're doing with said cast
Mar 10, 2015 12:10 AM - jbigler1986: Do you know how much the .8 nozzle is
Mar 10, 2015 12:10 AM - Mike Kelly: nope i assume it's on the nozzle page
Mar 10, 2015 12:11 AM - Mike Kelly: so if you don't plan on doing any post-machining on the casted part you'd be best to go with a higher res layer height
Mar 10, 2015 12:12 AM - jbigler1986: Dang. He is out of stock of the .8 nozzles
    Mar 10, 2015 12:12 AM - jbigler1986: 10 bucks though
Mar 10, 2015 12:12 AM - JeffTheMess: Cool, I have printed for "looks", now im starting to do mechanical things as well
    Mar 10, 2015 12:13 AM - Mike Kelly: bigler he has a v5 nozzle in .8
Mar 10, 2015 12:14 AM - Mike Kelly: i just don't have space for trinkets and chotchkies so i just stick with mechanical stuff or desk toys
    Mar 10, 2015 12:14 AM - jbigler1986: Are they interchangable?
    Mar 10, 2015 12:14 AM - Mike Kelly: yup
    Mar 10, 2015 12:15 AM - jbigler1986: Oh. Well then
Mar 10, 2015 12:16 AM - Mike Kelly: only difference between them is the internal geometry, but for 0.8mm it's negligible
    Mar 10, 2015 12:16 AM - jbigler1986: Only 1 left. Better jump on it.
Mar 10, 2015 12:18 AM - JeffTheMess: Hey Mike, if you don't mind me asking what cad program you use?
    Mar 10, 2015 12:19 AM - Mike Kelly: solidworks
Mar 10, 2015 12:20 AM - Mike Kelly: all day erry day
Mar 10, 2015 12:21 AM - JeffTheMess: lol, I use Inventor, never knew which was better
Mar 10, 2015 12:21 AM - Mike Kelly: solidworks is
Mar 10, 2015 12:21 AM - jbigler1986: Hopefully I get the time soon to start learning 3D design
Mar 10, 2015 12:21 AM - Mike Kelly: inventor does some things better but SW just is so much more feature rich
    Mar 10, 2015 12:21 AM - Mike Kelly: i started on Inventor
Mar 10, 2015 12:23 AM - JeffTheMess: I was looking at your printer Mike...holy hell its nice...you got that from the kickstarter and just ran for it
Mar 10, 2015 12:24 AM - JeffTheMess: Looks better than most robo ive seen
Mar 10, 2015 12:24 AM - Mike Kelly: thanks man i'm proud of it
Mar 10, 2015 12:24 AM - Mike Kelly: took a long time to get to this point lol
Mar 10, 2015 12:25 AM - Mike Kelly: only issues i have now is that when it's cold the delrin nuts will bind on the lead screws
Mar 10, 2015 12:25 AM - Mike Kelly: and the solenoid probe level i'm using is a bit finicky
Mar 10, 2015 12:25 AM - Mike Kelly: it was working so much better with the cyclops but for some reason when i switched to the chimera it's been having a harder time, which is strange cause the design barely changed
Mar 10, 2015 12:28 AM - JeffTheMess: how do you use your dual extruder for mechanical use, unless you are using two different materials, right?
Mar 10, 2015 12:33 AM - jbigler1986: Do you have the filament sensor installed or was that Ziggy?
Mar 10, 2015 12:33 AM - Mike Kelly: that was ziggy
Mar 10, 2015 12:33 AM - Mike Kelly: i use the duals primarily for the support materials
Mar 10, 2015 12:34 AM - Mike Kelly: HIPS breaks away much cleaner and if you need to you can dissolve it out
Mar 10, 2015 12:41 AM - Mike Kelly: this guy owns
    Mar 10, 2015 12:45 AM - jbigler1986: That's what's up

Mar 10, 2015 12:55 AM - Mike Kelly: i would not be comfortable sitting so close to 2200psi
Mar 10, 2015 12:57 AM - jbigler1986: Meh. If it explodes it was well worth it. Lol
Mar 10, 2015 12:58 AM - JeffTheMess: Thats good support materials always hurts me...I started with minimal support material
Mar 10, 2015 12:59 AM - Mike Kelly: yeah i tend to design for no support
Mar 10, 2015 12:59 AM - Mike Kelly: but sometimes it's a necessary beast, like when you're designing injection molded parts
Mar 10, 2015 1:03 AM - jbigler1986: Support is annoying. I added support yesterday using slic3r in Repeteier. The the print failed
Mar 10, 2015 1:05 AM - JeffTheMess: Yeah, Im making a quadcopter had to break it in to 4 parts, and the support for that guy gonna be a killer
Mar 10, 2015 1:06 AM - JeffTheMess: I had that problem too where my prints woulld come all screwed up because of support
Mar 10, 2015 1:08 AM - jbigler1986: It was good for the first like 5 layers. Then support was crazy and ended up air printing
Mar 10, 2015 1:09 AM - JeffTheMess: I guess Mike has to use his big brain and find a way to print anything without support matieral lol
Mar 10, 2015 1:11 AM - jbigler1986: It would be awesome if you could manually add support material where you wanted it
    Mar 10, 2015 1:12 AM - jbigler1986: In a slicer that is
Mar 10, 2015 1:12 AM - JeffTheMess: Well in the design process you probably can, would be less material to use
Mar 10, 2015 1:12 AM - Mike Kelly: you can do that with simplify3d bigler
Mar 10, 2015 1:13 AM - Mike Kelly: and yeah if you design the part with support material in mind you can do that
    Mar 10, 2015 1:13 AM - Mike Kelly: but i find that's tricky
    Mar 10, 2015 1:13 AM - jbigler1986: Really
Mar 10, 2015 1:13 AM - jbigler1986: It seems as though simplify3d is what my next purchase should be
Mar 10, 2015 1:18 AM - Mike Kelly: watch their tutorial videos on it
Mar 10, 2015 1:18 AM - Mike Kelly: it can do some really crazy things
Mar 10, 2015 1:18 AM - Mike Kelly: it's one of those software the can do really complex things with ease, but easy things are complex
    Mar 10, 2015 1:19 AM - JeffTheMess: How long you've had for Mike Simplify3d?
Mar 10, 2015 1:20 AM - Mike Kelly: i've had it a little over a year but don't use it very much
Mar 10, 2015 1:21 AM - Mike Kelly: maybe 10-25% of the prints i do
Mar 10, 2015 1:21 AM - Mike Kelly: cura's just easier for me
    Mar 10, 2015 1:23 AM - Mike Glass: yo fella's, morning
Mar 10, 2015 1:24 AM - JeffTheMess: Cura seems to be everyone's choice...I tried the cura slicer in mattercontrol it was too thin
    Mar 10, 2015 1:24 AM - JeffTheMess: Good afternoon
    Mar 10, 2015 1:24 AM - Mike Kelly: Cura's UI is better than MC's
Mar 10, 2015 1:24 AM - Mike Kelly: sup mike
Mar 10, 2015 1:24 AM - Mike Glass: livin the dream ya know
Mar 10, 2015 1:25 AM - Mike Kelly: CuraSlicer is less feature rich but does certain things better which i like
Mar 10, 2015 1:25 AM - Mike Kelly: i hate when slicer leaves voids on small infils
Mar 10, 2015 1:25 AM - JeffTheMess: Is there a forum to use cura for robo3d?
Mar 10, 2015 1:25 AM - Mike Kelly: i made a how to in the software forum that's stickied
    Mar 10, 2015 1:25 AM - JeffTheMess: a how-to video or something
    Mar 10, 2015 1:26 AM - JeffTheMess: where, got a link?
Mar 10, 2015 1:26 AM - Mike Kelly: click the software forum, then How to: cura
Mar 10, 2015 1:26 AM - Mike Glass: I hate cura in repetier.
Mar 10, 2015 1:27 AM - Mike Glass: but did finally figure how to use spiral in slicer last night.
    Mar 10, 2015 1:27 AM - jbigler1986: Morning MG
Mar 10, 2015 1:27 AM - Mike Glass: even if you have supports turned off, you have to zero everything out else it complains.
Mar 10, 2015 1:27 AM - JeffTheMess: I wonder why it sucks for other engine and great for its own....conspiracy much
Mar 10, 2015 1:27 AM - Mike Glass: Hy jb
    Mar 10, 2015 1:28 AM - jbigler1986: I order e3dv6 last night. Will be here tomorrow
Mar 10, 2015 1:28 AM - Mike Glass: nice, Did you break your hex?
Mar 10, 2015 1:30 AM - Mike Kelly: i like cura because of the design mentality, keep the UI clean and minimal while having the tools you need right up front, and very fast slice times
Mar 10, 2015 1:31 AM - jbigler1986: No. I removed it to clean it because it was just oozing way to bad and I was going to tighten it. The damn thermosistor broke again before I could even get it heated long enough to clean it. Then since plastic was surrounding it the heating element I couldn't remove it to soak it in acetone
Mar 10, 2015 1:32 AM - Mike Glass: Cura itself is probaly my fav but for some things repetier/slicer I have to use becuse cura does not do honycomb infill:(
Mar 10, 2015 1:32 AM - jbigler1986: Then I remembered like a week or so ago my Hex got bent during a failed print that I carefully bent back straight. I thought that maybe it cracked
Mar 10, 2015 1:32 AM - Mike Glass: you dont have to have the thermistor to heat it up?
Mar 10, 2015 1:33 AM - Mike Kelly: i need to figure out how to completely remove repetier and clean install
Mar 10, 2015 1:33 AM - JeffTheMess: Damn, no honeycomb, what a buzz kill
Mar 10, 2015 1:33 AM - Mike Kelly: it has communication issues and i don't like using the SD card for short prints
    Mar 10, 2015 1:33 AM - jbigler1986: It won't heat up without it
Mar 10, 2015 1:33 AM - Mike Kelly: honeycomb looks nice but honestly how often do you see it
Mar 10, 2015 1:33 AM - Mike Kelly: bigler, just plug the heater directly into 12v
Mar 10, 2015 1:33 AM - Mike Kelly: just be careful not to cook it
Mar 10, 2015 1:34 AM - jbigler1986: I ordered a hex last night from Printed solid then realized what the hell. Might as well go with the E3Dv6 instead
Mar 10, 2015 1:34 AM - jbigler1986: So he switched my order this morning
Mar 10, 2015 1:34 AM - Mike Glass: I have to use honeycomb for XT or it just goos up
    Mar 10, 2015 1:35 AM - JeffTheMess: I like honeycomb too much
Mar 10, 2015 1:35 AM - jbigler1986: I have a threaded thermosistor on order so I'm just going to dropp the hex into an acetone bath with the heater element connect since the kit comes with one and I have the threaded on order
Mar 10, 2015 1:35 AM - Mike Glass: I cannot for the life of me figure how to not let the head drag accros a print.
Mar 10, 2015 1:36 AM - Mike Kelly: xt seems finicky
Mar 10, 2015 1:36 AM - Mike Glass: great for making golf balls..lol
Mar 10, 2015 1:37 AM - jbigler1986: My hex is just a mess right now
Mar 10, 2015 1:37 AM - jbigler1986: Once I get it all cleaned up I will just use it as a backup
Mar 10, 2015 1:38 AM - Mike Glass: mine is bent a little also, but gives it character.
Mar 10, 2015 1:38 AM - Mike Kelly: chicks dig it
Mar 10, 2015 1:39 AM - jbigler1986: It was oozing so bad that I literralt had blobs falling on my print every 20 minutes
    Mar 10, 2015 1:39 AM - Mike Glass:
Mar 10, 2015 1:39 AM - Mike Glass: I see that is common, I think TSG had the same thing happen yesterday also
Mar 10, 2015 1:40 AM - JeffTheMess: Hey MG, where your where's your how to for cura can't find it?
Mar 10, 2015 1:40 AM - jbigler1986: MG I'm about to order the last .8 nozzle too from Printed Solid. I was jealous of how fast you were knocking those webcam parts out
    Mar 10, 2015 1:41 AM - Mike Glass: http://imgur.com/iv5O8vm check this under 2 hours.
Mar 10, 2015 1:41 AM - Mike Kelly: Printer forums > Software > How to: cura
Mar 10, 2015 1:41 AM - Mike Kelly: it's stickied at the top
Mar 10, 2015 1:41 AM - Mike Kelly: holy crap that things huge mike
Mar 10, 2015 1:41 AM - Mike Kelly: i dig your webcam mount
Mar 10, 2015 1:41 AM - Mike Glass: Jeff not sure what your asking?
Mar 10, 2015 1:42 AM - Mike Glass: its still wip, but it works
Mar 10, 2015 1:42 AM - Mike Kelly: you need some more degrees of freedom for articulation
Mar 10, 2015 1:42 AM - Mike Glass: I want to swivel to the side now when spraing.
Mar 10, 2015 1:43 AM - Mike Kelly: ugh man i feel like crap
Mar 10, 2015 1:43 AM - Mike Glass: it goes down to the bed if I want
    Mar 10, 2015 1:43 AM - JeffTheMess: nice
Mar 10, 2015 1:44 AM - jbigler1986: Yep I print that mount as well. Just my arms are smaller
Mar 10, 2015 1:45 AM - Mike Glass: I might work on the top swivel piece today
Mar 10, 2015 1:46 AM - jbigler1986: Yeah. What about adding a hole and a big thumbscrew to press against the case to give it more traction?
Mar 10, 2015 1:46 AM - jbigler1986: I had to add a little piece of tape to make it hold better
Mar 10, 2015 1:47 AM - Mike Glass: was it not tight enough
Mar 10, 2015 1:48 AM - Mike Glass: mine holds great, but did print it @.4 layer height
    Mar 10, 2015 1:49 AM - jbigler1986: It did hold tight but now it's a little loose
Mar 10, 2015 1:49 AM - jbigler1986: It would be nice to adjust it if needed
Mar 10, 2015 1:50 AM - Mike Glass: I was going to make it bigger so could put a twist screw of somw sort.
Mar 10, 2015 1:50 AM - Mike Glass: have to put back on my .4 :(
    Mar 10, 2015 1:50 AM - jbigler1986: That would work
    Mar 10, 2015 1:58 AM - Mike Kelly: wow
Mar 10, 2015 2:01 AM - Mike Kelly: also this is awesome: http://www.eng.yale.edu/grablab/openhand/

Mar 10, 2015 2:01 AM - Mike Glass: haha throws the bow
Mar 10, 2015 2:02 AM - Mike Glass: that is crazy
    Mar 10, 2015 2:07 AM - jbigler1986: Yes it is
Mar 10, 2015 2:07 AM - jbigler1986: Are you going to redesign the clip tonight?
Mar 10, 2015 2:09 AM - Mike Glass: Yea or today if I dont have much to do at work.
Mar 10, 2015 2:09 AM - Mike Kelly: it's a hard balance to make a guide that's simple enough for the biggest idiot, but not so simple the biggest idiot does it not knowing what they're getting into
    Mar 10, 2015 2:13 AM - Mike Glass: amen
Mar 10, 2015 2:13 AM - Mike Glass: deal with that crap all day
Mar 10, 2015 2:15 AM - Mike Kelly: i should just start a youtube channel
    Mar 10, 2015 2:18 AM - jbigler1986: Guide for?
    Mar 10, 2015 2:18 AM - jbigler1986: Lots of stuff in general?
Mar 10, 2015 2:18 AM - Mike Kelly: just in general
Mar 10, 2015 2:18 AM - Mike Kelly: seems like no matter how easy i make a guide or tutorial someone wants it to be simpler
Mar 10, 2015 2:19 AM - Mike Kelly: and i don't want to make things too easy because some things you really just need to turn on that thing above your neck for
    Mar 10, 2015 2:19 AM - jbigler1986: You should.
Mar 10, 2015 2:19 AM - jbigler1986: Your Cura tutorial was very very simple
Mar 10, 2015 2:20 AM - Mike Kelly: apparently finding it is the hardest part :)
Mar 10, 2015 2:22 AM - jbigler1986: Also your E3D thread is very helpful as well
    Mar 10, 2015 2:22 AM - jbigler1986: Some people just don't want to search (I'm guilty sometimes)
Mar 10, 2015 2:23 AM - Mike Kelly: yeah i think everyone is
    Mar 10, 2015 2:23 AM - Mike Kelly: people also don't like reading :)
Mar 10, 2015 2:24 AM - Mike Kelly: they prefer pictures and descriptive videos
Mar 10, 2015 2:24 AM - jbigler1986: I prefer videos just because I'm more visual and hands on
Mar 10, 2015 2:27 AM - jbigler1986: I have definitely learned a lot by hanging out in the chat that's for sure
    Mar 10, 2015 2:28 AM - Mike Kelly: http://www.core77.com/posts/31676/P...at-Metal-Disc-into-a-Bottle-Necked-Scuba-Tank this is fun
Mar 10, 2015 2:28 AM - jbigler1986: Oh yeah. Just realized i need to remove the hotend fan shroud from the carriage. Forgot about that
Mar 10, 2015 2:30 AM - Mike Kelly: someone needs to buy me a new printer so i can do a teardown/how to video series on it
Mar 10, 2015 2:32 AM - jbigler1986: Going through the Robo videos to try and find it
    Mar 10, 2015 2:32 AM - Mike Kelly: there's 2 screws on the bottom
Mar 10, 2015 2:32 AM - Mike Kelly: of the carriage
Mar 10, 2015 2:33 AM - JeffTheMess: ask the robo gang
Mar 10, 2015 2:33 AM - Mike Kelly: the nuts are held captive in the greg's wade base
Mar 10, 2015 2:33 AM - Mike Kelly: so once you loosen the 2 screws the fan holder will come with
Mar 10, 2015 2:33 AM - Mike Kelly: i dunno right now robo's not really flush with money
Mar 10, 2015 2:34 AM - jbigler1986: Where is are the screws exactly
Mar 10, 2015 2:35 AM - Mike Kelly: raise your carriage up and look underneath
    Mar 10, 2015 2:35 AM - Mike Kelly: i don't really have a picture of it
Mar 10, 2015 2:35 AM - Mike Kelly: so if you can take one that'd be super
Mar 10, 2015 2:35 AM - jbigler1986: Are they on the front, side, back
    Mar 10, 2015 2:36 AM - Mike Kelly: middle
    Mar 10, 2015 2:36 AM - Mike Kelly: you can't miss them
Mar 10, 2015 2:36 AM - jbigler1986: Once I get home I will snap a picture of it and upload it here so you can do with it as you wish
Mar 10, 2015 2:36 AM - Mike Kelly: lemme find the model for the part
Mar 10, 2015 2:36 AM - Mike Kelly: where's mike glass when you need him
Mar 10, 2015 2:36 AM - jbigler1986: I have the hotend out already so shouldn't be to hard to find
Mar 10, 2015 2:36 AM - Mike Glass: im here, but at work.
Mar 10, 2015 2:37 AM - Mike Kelly: yeah you'll need to take the part end fan off if you haven't done that already
Mar 10, 2015 2:37 AM - Mike Glass: he doesnt have stock fan
    Mar 10, 2015 2:37 AM - jbigler1986: Nope
    Mar 10, 2015 2:37 AM - Mike Kelly: yeah i didn't think so
Mar 10, 2015 2:39 AM - jbigler1986: That's like the only part left out from all of the Robo assembly videos. Lol
Mar 10, 2015 2:39 AM - Mike Kelly: assembling the carriage?
Mar 10, 2015 2:39 AM - Mike Kelly: that fan holder is super new, like december
    Mar 10, 2015 2:40 AM - jbigler1986: Nope. Looked at it already
    Mar 10, 2015 2:40 AM - Mike Kelly:
    Mar 10, 2015 2:40 AM - Mike Kelly: around 3:40
Mar 10, 2015 2:45 AM - jbigler1986: I see. SO they just use longer bolts now to hold the shroud and extruder in place
Mar 10, 2015 2:45 AM - Mike Kelly: probably yes
Mar 10, 2015 2:45 AM - jbigler1986: Got it. Easy enough. I will take a picture when I get home
    Mar 10, 2015 2:46 AM - Mike Kelly: danke
    Mar 10, 2015 2:46 AM - jbigler1986: That sounds yummy
Mar 10, 2015 2:48 AM - jbigler1986: Is it possible to extend the z axis? Just a random thought
Mar 10, 2015 2:48 AM - Mike Kelly: eh, yes and no
Mar 10, 2015 2:48 AM - Mike Kelly: you'd need to remove the lid
Mar 10, 2015 2:49 AM - Mike Kelly: stabalize the rods
    Mar 10, 2015 2:49 AM - Mike Kelly: preferably switch to 10mm
Mar 10, 2015 2:49 AM - JeffTheMess: You can always just cut your print in half and leave print as is
    Mar 10, 2015 2:50 AM - jbigler1986: I know. I was just wondering
Mar 10, 2015 2:52 AM - Mike Glass: kind of hard to cut a spiral vase though
    Mar 10, 2015 2:53 AM - JeffTheMess: your right
    Mar 10, 2015 2:53 AM - JeffTheMess: if anyone interested http://www.instructables.com/id/Use-NetFabb-to-segment-an-STL-file-and-print-it-bi/
    Mar 10, 2015 2:55 AM - jbigler1986: I always cut parts in netfabb
Mar 10, 2015 2:55 AM - jbigler1986: Some stl files have more than 1 part and I only need one of the,
Mar 10, 2015 2:56 AM - Mike Glass: you can break some parts in cura
Mar 10, 2015 2:58 AM - Mike Kelly: bah i want to go back to paris
Mar 10, 2015 2:58 AM - JeffTheMess: I like to use inventor to cut a jagged line into the part so when i glue together its nearly perfect
Mar 10, 2015 2:59 AM - Mike Glass: wish netfabb had that option to cut with different types.
Mar 10, 2015 3:07 AM - JeffTheMess: MG what you use to design?
Mar 10, 2015 3:08 AM - Mike Kelly: he also uses SW
    Mar 10, 2015 3:11 AM - Mike Glass: SSW
Mar 10, 2015 3:11 AM - Mike Glass: super solid works
    Mar 10, 2015 3:11 AM - Mike Kelly: SSW4
Mar 10, 2015 3:12 AM - Mike Glass: I used inventor before, Sw is more refined, and I think the ui is easier to use.
Mar 10, 2015 3:13 AM - JeffTheMess: I I keep hearing that, Im the lone wolf still using inventor
Mar 10, 2015 3:13 AM - Bob64: at least it sounds easier then using Blender
Mar 10, 2015 3:13 AM - Mike Glass: They both have their strenghts
Mar 10, 2015 3:14 AM - JeffTheMess: I juust started using blender its interesting to use, there alot of freedom but when it comes to being exact can't beat CAD
Mar 10, 2015 3:14 AM - Mike Glass: Blender, is nice for rendering scenes but not really great for developing.
Mar 10, 2015 3:16 AM - Bob64: oh yeah that exact part drives me crazy
Mar 10, 2015 3:16 AM - Bob64: eg: i have a 2inch object positioned at exactly center. it shifts to 0.00001 or some bullshit
Mar 10, 2015 3:16 AM - Mike Glass: If you like Cad then SW is your friend
Mar 10, 2015 3:18 AM - Mike Glass: Mike have you ever printed out of SW to your printer, I know it supports direct printing somehow.
    Mar 10, 2015 3:20 AM - Mike Kelly: i have never no
Mar 10, 2015 3:21 AM - Mike Kelly: i feel like solidworks is in bed with 3dsystems
Mar 10, 2015 3:22 AM - Mike Kelly: so you'd probably need an industrial printer for that, but no clue, never looked at it
Mar 10, 2015 3:22 AM - Mike Glass: So you goint to build OpenHand?
Mar 10, 2015 3:22 AM - Mike Kelly: i think so, looks like fun
    Mar 10, 2015 3:22 AM - Mike Glass: $300 for a damn actuator....
Mar 10, 2015 3:23 AM - Mike Kelly: what? maybe not then
    Mar 10, 2015 3:23 AM - JeffTheMess: Yeah,they are crazy expensive

Mar 10, 2015 3:23 AM - Mike Glass: yea looked at the BOM, your looking at least $500
Mar 10, 2015 3:24 AM - JeffTheMess: this is cool with actuators
Mar 10, 2015 3:24 AM - Mike Kelly: i just kinda skimmed it, i made that thread to find it later :)
Mar 10, 2015 3:25 AM - Mike Glass: I saw that awhile back, crazy.
Mar 10, 2015 3:27 AM - JeffTheMess: Image how much that would cost
    Mar 10, 2015 3:40 AM - jbigler1986: 1 dollar
    Mar 10, 2015 3:42 AM - JeffTheMess: I'd buy that for a dollar!
Mar 10, 2015 3:43 AM - jbigler1986: I would too. Wife probably wouldn't be happy due to it just taking up space
Mar 10, 2015 3:47 AM - jbigler1986: Anybody have live prints going on?
Mar 10, 2015 3:48 AM - JeffTheMess: I wish I could see my prints live... i hate not being home while printing
Mar 10, 2015 3:49 AM - Mike Glass: No camera Jeff?
Mar 10, 2015 3:49 AM - JeffTheMess: I got the cam but dont know where to stream through(website)
    Mar 10, 2015 3:50 AM - jbigler1986: ustream
Mar 10, 2015 3:50 AM - JeffTheMess: if its free its for me
    Mar 10, 2015 3:50 AM - jbigler1986: download ustream producer
    Mar 10, 2015 3:50 AM - jbigler1986: its free
    Mar 10, 2015 3:51 AM - Mike Glass: I use vaughn
    Mar 10, 2015 3:52 AM - jbigler1986: what software do you use
Mar 10, 2015 3:53 AM - JeffTheMess: great another project to start on (my wife is going to kill me)
Mar 10, 2015 3:53 AM - jbigler1986: i would like to stream pc screen as well as camera
    Mar 10, 2015 3:53 AM - jbigler1986: can't get wirecast to open
Mar 10, 2015 3:54 AM - Mike Glass: No software needed for vaughn
    Mar 10, 2015 3:55 AM - jbigler1986: can you stream both?
    Mar 10, 2015 3:55 AM - Mike Glass: nope,
Mar 10, 2015 3:56 AM - Mike Glass: I have a really old computer, it barely does one camera..
Mar 10, 2015 3:56 AM - jbigler1986: I mean does it allow you to stream both
Mar 10, 2015 3:57 AM - Mike Glass: no just ask what local camera to use thats it.
    Mar 10, 2015 3:57 AM - jbigler1986: hmm.
Mar 10, 2015 3:58 AM - JeffTheMess: vaughn looks good so far should try it when I get home
Mar 10, 2015 3:58 AM - Mike Glass: I would like it to include my other camera but need to find sofware for that.
Mar 10, 2015 3:58 AM - Mike Glass: I love the quality of vaughn
Mar 10, 2015 3:59 AM - jbigler1986: Yeah. I think bill said he uses wirecast
Mar 10, 2015 4:00 AM - JeffTheMess: It's good for people like me that had alot of problem with printing and want to see whats going on....
Mar 10, 2015 4:01 AM - jbigler1986: Yep. I use it to check my prints. Then I use logmein to access my pc that it's connected to if I need stop the print
Mar 10, 2015 4:02 AM - jbigler1986: Only need to download the software on the remote pc. You just use a web browser to access it
Mar 10, 2015 4:02 AM - Mike Glass: I use tightvnc for remote, I can do it from my phone.
Mar 10, 2015 4:03 AM - jbigler1986: But you do need to send an invite from the pc. I use team viewer on my phone to do that.
Mar 10, 2015 4:03 AM - jbigler1986: Once you get access I just leave the tap up all day at work so I always have constant access to it
    Mar 10, 2015 4:04 AM - jbigler1986: tab*
    Mar 10, 2015 4:04 AM - JeffTheMess: sounds good
Mar 10, 2015 4:04 AM - Mike Glass: Gives everyone at teamviewer something to do at least.
Mar 10, 2015 4:05 AM - jbigler1986: No I log out of teamviewer once I send the invite and accept it from logmein
Mar 10, 2015 4:06 AM - JeffTheMess: You have a way of turning of your printer too?
    Mar 10, 2015 4:06 AM - jbigler1986: Wemo
Mar 10, 2015 4:07 AM - jbigler1986: There are other ways too but I didn't feel like hard modding my robo
Mar 10, 2015 4:10 AM - JeffTheMess: Now all we need is a way to remove the print and start a new one from work
Mar 10, 2015 4:15 AM - Mike Glass: you need plate switcher
    Mar 10, 2015 4:18 AM - JeffTheMess: Like a conveyor belt setup
Mar 10, 2015 5:22 AM - Mike Kelly: robotic arm with suction cups
    Mar 10, 2015 5:40 AM - jbigler1986: Lol.
Mar 10, 2015 5:41 AM - Mike Kelly: E3D had a little jig for knocking prints off
    Mar 10, 2015 5:42 AM - jbigler1986: ???
    Mar 10, 2015 5:43 AM - Mike Kelly:
Mar 10, 2015 5:43 AM - jbigler1986: I will just train my dog to remove them. Problem solved
Mar 10, 2015 5:45 AM - Mike Glass: and teach him to use hairspray, sounds like a job for another breed..lol
Mar 10, 2015 5:46 AM - jbigler1986: Smart. Unless the print is really stuck to the bed
Mar 10, 2015 5:46 AM - Mike Kelly: i hear pigs are pretty smart
Mar 10, 2015 5:46 AM - Mike Kelly: oooo an elephant
Mar 10, 2015 5:46 AM - Mike Kelly: they already have a good tool for removing prints
Mar 10, 2015 5:46 AM - Mike Glass: and tasty.
Mar 10, 2015 5:47 AM - jbigler1986: Would have to print something to allow them to use a hairspray can
Mar 10, 2015 5:48 AM - jbigler1986: Seems like that would be hard on the printer though knocking parts off
Mar 10, 2015 5:49 AM - Mike Kelly: that's why you'd only want to do it on something as rigid as the mendel90
    Mar 10, 2015 5:50 AM - jbigler1986: Hire a 3D printer butler
    Mar 10, 2015 5:50 AM - jbigler1986: All problems solved
Mar 10, 2015 5:50 AM - Mike Kelly: i'll stick with my elephant thank you very much
Mar 10, 2015 5:51 AM - Mike Glass: Just stay home, work from home, take your printer to work?
Mar 10, 2015 5:51 AM - jbigler1986: Printer at work and printer at home?
    Mar 10, 2015 5:51 AM - Mike Kelly: i have that
    Mar 10, 2015 5:52 AM - jbigler1986: Printer in car? Even better
Mar 10, 2015 5:52 AM - Mike Glass: I have a robo mini at work
Mar 10, 2015 5:52 AM - jbigler1986: Crank up the heater. No encclosed box needed
Mar 10, 2015 5:54 AM - Mike Kelly: if you tried that in the southwest you wouldn't be able to print PLA
    Mar 10, 2015 5:54 AM - jbigler1986: AC
Mar 10, 2015 5:56 AM - jbigler1986: When are they going to release R2 and mini
    Mar 10, 2015 5:57 AM - Mike Kelly: lol
Mar 10, 2015 5:57 AM - Mike Kelly: when they have an R2 and mini to release
    Mar 10, 2015 5:58 AM - Mike Glass: I heard Dec 2014
Mar 10, 2015 5:58 AM - Mike Glass: oh wiat its past that now
    Mar 10, 2015 5:58 AM - Mike Kelly: lol
    Mar 10, 2015 5:58 AM - Mike Kelly: let's stick with dec 2014
Mar 10, 2015 5:58 AM - Mike Glass: Im glad i did not wait
Mar 10, 2015 5:58 AM - Mike Kelly: and if we add in "Robo Time" it'll be closer to july or august
    Mar 10, 2015 5:59 AM - mark tomlinson: 2016
Mar 10, 2015 5:59 AM - Mike Glass: I think Mark is closer
Mar 10, 2015 5:59 AM - Mike Kelly: whoa mark uses the shoutbox
    Mar 10, 2015 5:59 AM - mark tomlinson: july or august... 2016 ;)
Mar 10, 2015 5:59 AM - mark tomlinson: I seldom have anything pithy to add
Mar 10, 2015 5:59 AM - Mike Kelly: and you think i do?
    Mar 10, 2015 5:59 AM - mark tomlinson: LOL
    Mar 10, 2015 7:17 AM - TechSupportGo: hello
    Mar 10, 2015 7:17 AM - Mike Kelly: http://community.robo3d.com/index.php?threads/m5-rod-upgrade.4785/ this is cool
Mar 10, 2015 7:17 AM - Mike Kelly: sup tsg
    Mar 10, 2015 7:21 AM - TechSupportGo: sup
Mar 10, 2015 7:26 AM - TechSupportGo: you gonna upgrade to zip ties?
Mar 10, 2015 7:26 AM - Mike Glass: seems that is a bad idea
    Mar 10, 2015 7:26 AM - Mike Kelly: http://www.thingiverse.com/thing:9622
Mar 10, 2015 7:27 AM - Mike Kelly: i'm not having any issues right now but i'd do something like this
Mar 10, 2015 7:27 AM - Mike Glass: gotta have some effect with a flexible tube.
    Mar 10, 2015 7:27 AM - jbigler1986: Back

Mar 10, 2015 7:27 AM - Mike Kelly: i dunno the zip ties/tube method is pretty popular
Mar 10, 2015 7:28 AM - Mike Kelly: low backlash
Mar 10, 2015 7:28 AM - Mike Glass: gotta be better than those stupid HC that dont fit 8mm
    Mar 10, 2015 7:29 AM - Mike Kelly: they fit 8mm just not M8
    Mar 10, 2015 7:29 AM - jbigler1986: Who has a plane?
Mar 10, 2015 7:29 AM - Mike Glass: whatever they dont fit the robo stock parts
    Mar 10, 2015 7:29 AM - jbigler1986: I will pay $100 of someone gets me my e3d tonight. Lol
Mar 10, 2015 7:30 AM - TechSupportGo: I used superglue on mine this morning because I was in a hurry! its still holding up fairly well
Mar 10, 2015 7:30 AM - Mike Glass: TSG thats what I ended up doing
    Mar 10, 2015 7:30 AM - TechSupportGo: boom

Mar 10, 2015 7:41 AM - jbigler1986: Will acetone melt the heater block wires?
    Mar 10, 2015 7:41 AM - Mike Kelly: possibly
Mar 10, 2015 7:41 AM - Mike Kelly: just plug in the heater to 12v till it's hot enough to remove
Mar 10, 2015 7:41 AM - Mike Kelly: throw all the metal in acetone
Mar 10, 2015 7:42 AM - jbigler1986: gotta get plastic off before i can even get an allen key into the set screw
    Mar 10, 2015 7:42 AM - jbigler1986: lighter?
Mar 10, 2015 7:42 AM - Mike Kelly: you can do both
    Mar 10, 2015 7:43 AM - Mike Kelly: i mean that heaters only 25W
Mar 10, 2015 7:43 AM - Mike Kelly: i don't think it can get hot enough to melt aluminum
Mar 10, 2015 7:43 AM - Mike Kelly: just heat it up enough so you can smush down the plastic and get the key into the screw
Mar 10, 2015 7:43 AM - Mike Kelly: loosen it and remove everything
    Mar 10, 2015 7:44 AM - jbigler1986: ok. just aminute
Mar 10, 2015 8:01 AM - TechSupportGo: dust collector and skull live http://www.ustream.tv/channel/robo-3d-r1-live-techsupportgo
Mar 10, 2015 8:03 AM - TechSupportGo: more of a test print, seems like every print is a test print lol
Mar 10, 2015 8:04 AM - TechSupportGo: may not work with no support on skull
Mar 10, 2015 8:06 AM - jbigler1986: Looks like i get to drill out the set screw
    Mar 10, 2015 8:06 AM - jbigler1986: yay
Mar 10, 2015 8:07 AM - TechSupportGo: front pieces of the skull fell, gonna ride it out
Mar 10, 2015 8:10 AM - jbigler1986: What size is that set screw so i can get a screw extractor?
    Mar 10, 2015 8:11 AM - jbigler1986: 5/64?\
Mar 10, 2015 8:16 AM - Ben R: the thing to detach the hexagon heat sink from the throat?
Mar 10, 2015 8:17 AM - Ben R: or the front heater screw.
Mar 10, 2015 8:18 AM - Ben R: i dunno ... the hexagon kit I got came with an allen for it
    Mar 10, 2015 8:21 AM - jbigler1986: The front heater screw
    Mar 10, 2015 8:23 AM - Mike Kelly: It's m3
    Mar 10, 2015 8:23 AM - Mike Kelly: How'd you strip it
    Mar 10, 2015 8:28 AM - jbigler1986: Damn plastic in there
Mar 10, 2015 8:30 AM - jbigler1986: I'm probably just not going to mess with it anymore for a while since I'm going to get my e3d tomorrow
    Mar 10, 2015 8:31 AM - jbigler1986: Probably just order a a new heat block
    Mar 10, 2015 8:31 AM - jbigler1986: In a few weeks
    Mar 10, 2015 8:32 AM - Ben R: spares are nice.
Mar 10, 2015 8:32 AM - Ben R: I haven't been doing it too long, but after breaking this and that, and generic spares being so cheap, I just buy them by the half dozen.
Mar 10, 2015 8:32 AM - Ben R: When it comes to modding something, I have parts.
Mar 10, 2015 8:33 AM - Mike Glass: TSG what you prining?
Mar 10, 2015 8:33 AM - Mike Glass: your speed may be your issue.
    Mar 10, 2015 8:35 AM - Ben R: live fast die young!
Mar 10, 2015 8:36 AM - Mike Glass: ok nobody found me a vase to print?
Mar 10, 2015 8:38 AM - TechSupportGo: skull and dust remover
Mar 10, 2015 8:38 AM - TechSupportGo: I just restarted it because it failed without support
Mar 10, 2015 8:38 AM - Mike Glass: going little fast I think
Mar 10, 2015 8:38 AM - TechSupportGo: I feel good about this one
Mar 10, 2015 8:39 AM - TechSupportGo: I still havent figured the speed in S3d

Mar 10, 2015 8:43 AM - TechSupportGo: printing the skull small
Mar 10, 2015 8:45 AM - TechSupportGo: Recording this timelapse for my unboxing video that I have not posted yet, I just want to answer every question I ever had
Mar 10, 2015 8:46 AM - Mike Glass: Do you have a book that big..lol
Mar 10, 2015 8:47 AM - TechSupportGo: the leak last night was self induced. i twisted the heater loose a little and had my z offset to close to the glass causing back pressure
    Mar 10, 2015 8:48 AM - Ben R: figured the speed? 3600 is the "stock" 60mm/s
    Mar 10, 2015 8:49 AM - Ben R: just multiply matter control speed x 60
Mar 10, 2015 8:50 AM - Ben R: that skull with the truncated mandible gets a lot of traction. They need to add the mandible or remove it.
    Mar 10, 2015 8:50 AM - TechSupportGo: awesome
Mar 10, 2015 8:51 AM - TechSupportGo: this will be a good test for s3d support removal, I have it set to 1 we will see
Mar 10, 2015 8:51 AM - TechSupportGo: never in a million years with MC
    Mar 10, 2015 8:52 AM - Ben R: set to 1? a multiplier or something?
Mar 10, 2015 8:52 AM - Ben R: oh removing support material.. yea... hammer and forge
Mar 10, 2015 8:52 AM - TechSupportGo: the support resolution
Mar 10, 2015 8:52 AM - TechSupportGo: it wouldent go lower
Mar 10, 2015 8:53 AM - Ben R: is this site killing my browser or is the site slowing down.
Mar 10, 2015 8:54 AM - TechSupportGo: its site ping. new server must not be dedicated or proper bandwidth allocation
    Mar 10, 2015 8:54 AM - TechSupportGo: I use godaddy
Mar 10, 2015 8:55 AM - TechSupportGo: ma this thing is rocking fast, I should have slowed it down
    Mar 10, 2015 8:55 AM - Ben R: well its a minecraft server.
    Mar 10, 2015 8:55 AM - Ben R: out of germany
Mar 10, 2015 8:56 AM - TechSupportGo: yeah thats what i keep hearing lol
Mar 10, 2015 8:56 AM - Ben R: "also ask us about site hosting"
    Mar 10, 2015 8:56 AM - Ben R: $ 10 per year...
    Mar 10, 2015 8:56 AM - Ben R: no I don't know
Mar 10, 2015 8:56 AM - Mike Glass: is there a setting within s3d that you can control speed on the fly like repetier?
    Mar 10, 2015 8:56 AM - Ben R: x-rayhost.com
Mar 10, 2015 8:57 AM - TechSupportGo: in the past 5 years only been down twice
Mar 10, 2015 8:57 AM - Ben R: their web site is running really slow now too.
    Mar 10, 2015 8:57 AM - Ben R: I think there is (in s3d)
Mar 10, 2015 8:57 AM - TechSupportGo: they even restored a massive database after all of my stuff was stolem
Mar 10, 2015 8:57 AM - Ben R: I hooked up my lcd and s3d at about the same time
Mar 10, 2015 8:58 AM - Ben R: wow they literally stole your data, not just copied it?
Mar 10, 2015 8:59 AM - TechSupportGo: i want the lcd but then i would loose that sweet little progress bar on my live stream. I like it when I am away from the office
Mar 10, 2015 8:59 AM - TechSupportGo: yep got stolen
Mar 10, 2015 8:59 AM - jbigler1986: So I got the picture of the under carriage where the screws are to remove hotend fan shroud
Mar 10, 2015 8:59 AM - TechSupportGo: the files were taken
Mar 10, 2015 8:59 AM - Ben R: godaddy sells domains.. they must outsource server space
    Mar 10, 2015 8:59 AM - jbigler1986: Mike Kelly are u here
    Mar 10, 2015 8:59 AM - Ben R: we call that deleted
    Mar 10, 2015 9:00 AM - Ben R: he is not
Mar 10, 2015 9:00 AM - TechSupportGo: this was back when they let you keep 12 server backups lol

    Mar 10, 2015 9:01 AM - Ben R: [IMG]
Mar 10, 2015 9:02 AM - TechSupportGo: i did not know you could access the allan bolts that hold the heat sink with it together like that
Mar 10, 2015 9:02 AM - jbigler1986: That's for Mike to add to the E3dv6 thread. Those 2 screws you need to remove to remove the hotend fan mount
    Mar 10, 2015 9:03 AM - jbigler1986: Where does this nut go
    Mar 10, 2015 9:03 AM - jbigler1986: http://imgur.com/8UBW6Ec
Mar 10, 2015 9:03 AM - jbigler1986: It fell out when I tilted the robo up
Mar 10, 2015 9:04 AM - Mike Glass: on top of the wades
Mar 10, 2015 9:04 AM - TechSupportGo: looks like from the big gear
    Mar 10, 2015 9:05 AM - Ben R: yea.. prolly
Mar 10, 2015 9:08 AM - jbigler1986: Let me look. So check the gears?
    Mar 10, 2015 9:09 AM - Ben R: I thougth the gear was a nyloc
Mar 10, 2015 9:10 AM - Ben R: look for bolts with no nuts
Mar 10, 2015 9:18 AM - Mike Glass: http://vaughnlive.tv/coolreactions time for another large bowl
Mar 10, 2015 9:20 AM - Mike Kelly: what do you intend on doing with said bowls
Mar 10, 2015 9:20 AM - Mike Glass: smoke em if you got em
    Mar 10, 2015 9:20 AM - Mike Glass: lol
Mar 10, 2015 9:21 AM - Mike Glass: dude I cant believe how big that one I printed last night was and only 2 hours. I need a 1 and 1.2 nozzle now
Mar 10, 2015 9:21 AM - Mike Kelly: haha yeah that's just insanely fast
    Mar 10, 2015 9:21 AM - Mike Kelly: ABS?
Mar 10, 2015 9:22 AM - Mike Glass: nope pla
Mar 10, 2015 9:22 AM - Mike Glass: and it is going slow, I have it down to 30-40 for speed.
Mar 10, 2015 9:23 AM - Mike Glass: just cause this filament breaks if I go to fast.
Mar 10, 2015 9:24 AM - Mike Glass: I just need a better way to supply filament, the stupid holder I have on the top is too close to the top of the robo.
    Mar 10, 2015 9:27 AM - Ben R: bam [IMG]
    Mar 10, 2015 9:27 AM - Mike Kelly: i'm impressed
Mar 10, 2015 9:27 AM - Ben R: I just ran into the top of my case... broke the filament.
Mar 10, 2015 9:28 AM - Ben R: well.. when all you do is tune.. and not print anything but test prints.... :(
Mar 10, 2015 9:28 AM - Ben R: but when my designer's block frees up...
Mar 10, 2015 9:28 AM - Mike Kelly: when you need a print it's good to have it tuned :)
    Mar 10, 2015 9:28 AM - Ben R: i'll be ready
    Mar 10, 2015 9:29 AM - Ben R: er rather [IMG]
    Mar 10, 2015 9:30 AM - Ben R: that's the right way to link
Mar 10, 2015 9:30 AM - Mike Kelly: i should try that again
Mar 10, 2015 9:31 AM - Ben R: of course, I'll be changing to bowden and have to adjust all over again
Mar 10, 2015 9:31 AM - Mike Kelly: bowdens over rated
Mar 10, 2015 9:31 AM - Ben R: and I cheated. I used IC3D abs. Not my normal quality hatchbox or PET. PET would have made a solid block
Mar 10, 2015 9:32 AM - Ben R: Bowden has its drawbacks... but doesn't it free up some potential lash problems at speed?
    Mar 10, 2015 9:32 AM - Ben R: retraction is troublesome I read
Mar 10, 2015 9:33 AM - Ben R: don't do bowden on a stationary head, do it on a moving head I figure
    Mar 10, 2015 9:36 AM - Mike Kelly: i mean maybe
Mar 10, 2015 9:36 AM - Mike Kelly: push the limits without bowden
Mar 10, 2015 9:36 AM - Mike Kelly: speed has it's own issues even besides lash and resonance problems
    Mar 10, 2015 9:36 AM - Ben R: more tuning?!
Mar 10, 2015 9:37 AM - Ben R: what do you see as plusses and minuses to bowden as someone that does both. other than space for an extra extruder or 3
Mar 10, 2015 9:37 AM - Mike Kelly: only reason i do bowden is for duals
    Mar 10, 2015 9:37 AM - Ben R: other than clearing space
Mar 10, 2015 9:37 AM - Mike Kelly: i want to do a hybrid design
    Mar 10, 2015 9:37 AM - Ben R: oh
Mar 10, 2015 9:37 AM - Ben R: man web is slow today
    Mar 10, 2015 9:37 AM - Ben R: yea, I'm clearing way for duals
    Mar 10, 2015 9:38 AM - Ben R: or quads
Mar 10, 2015 9:38 AM - Ben R: but.. I'll be able to go back and forth and decide which is what.
Mar 10, 2015 9:38 AM - Mike Kelly: yeah not much work to change back if you decide against it
    Mar 10, 2015 9:39 AM - Ben R: stupid interwebs
    Mar 10, 2015 9:40 AM - jbigler1986: The nut wasn't missing on the gear
    Mar 10, 2015 9:40 AM - Ben R: free nut!
    Mar 10, 2015 9:40 AM - Mike Kelly: hahaha
Mar 10, 2015 9:40 AM - jbigler1986: Mike I have the picture of the screws to remove the fan shroud
Mar 10, 2015 9:41 AM - Mike Kelly: let's see M8 bolts are: X idler, Y idlers, and hobbed bolt
Mar 10, 2015 9:41 AM - Mike Kelly: i got it from the link thanks
Mar 10, 2015 9:41 AM - Ben R: yea.. is the idler pulley about to fly off?
Mar 10, 2015 9:41 AM - Mike Kelly: they used lock nuts on mine
    Mar 10, 2015 9:41 AM - Mike Kelly: YMMV
    Mar 10, 2015 9:41 AM - jbigler1986: Everything seems fine.
Mar 10, 2015 9:42 AM - Ben R: yea.. just about everything is nyloc I think
    Mar 10, 2015 9:42 AM - jbigler1986: I think it came from underneath
Mar 10, 2015 9:42 AM - Ben R: well.. keep it in your tool box
Mar 10, 2015 9:42 AM - Ben R: you take off the cover?
    Mar 10, 2015 9:42 AM - jbigler1986: I haven't
    Mar 10, 2015 9:42 AM - Ben R: then no
Mar 10, 2015 9:42 AM - Ben R: unless you mean under the print bed.. but no nuts there
Mar 10, 2015 9:43 AM - Ben R: well.. cept maybe on the idler pulley
Mar 10, 2015 9:43 AM - Ben R: which could spin off then stay in place by gravitons
    Mar 10, 2015 9:43 AM - jbigler1986: Where is that?
    Mar 10, 2015 9:43 AM - Ben R: under the platten
Mar 10, 2015 9:43 AM - jbigler1986: Lift up the print bed to see?
Mar 10, 2015 9:45 AM - Ben R: I'll let you be the judge of that
Mar 10, 2015 9:47 AM - Ben R: you didnt place a scale next to it. what size is it? m8?
    Mar 10, 2015 9:58 AM - jbigler1986: Let me measure with calipers
    Mar 10, 2015 9:58 AM - Ben R: ID
    Mar 10, 2015 9:59 AM - jbigler1986: 5.14mm
    Mar 10, 2015 10:00 AM - Ben R: ID?
    Mar 10, 2015 10:00 AM - Ben R: http://www.fairburyfastener.com/xdims_metric_nuts.htm
    Mar 10, 2015 10:03 AM - jbigler1986: Looks like m6
Mar 10, 2015 10:04 AM - Ben R: hmm... yea... prolly same as the nuts that hold on the pulleys/bearings where the belt rides. beyond that .. the nuts that hold on the top.. but those are in nut traps.
Mar 10, 2015 10:04 AM - Ben R: if you can't find it.. its not missing
    Mar 10, 2015 10:04 AM - Ben R: or it will become apparent;
    Mar 10, 2015 10:08 AM - jbigler1986: I can't seem to find a missing nut anywhere
Mar 10, 2015 10:08 AM - jbigler1986: Are there nuts holding the power supply in or anything
Mar 10, 2015 10:11 AM - jbigler1986: Seemed like it fell out from underneath like where the power supply is and stuff. Idk. Everything seems tight
Mar 10, 2015 10:12 AM - jbigler1986: Should I move everything with manual controls and see if it moves fine?
    Mar 10, 2015 10:16 AM - Ben R: just push it around
    Mar 10, 2015 10:16 AM - Ben R: wiggle stuff
Mar 10, 2015 10:16 AM - Ben R: find it or forget it
    Mar 10, 2015 10:16 AM - jbigler1986: I did. Everything seems good.
Mar 10, 2015 10:17 AM - Ben R: put it in your tool box
Mar 10, 2015 10:17 AM - Ben R: confidence up man... its not a magic machine
