Jun 18, 2015 5:33 AM - Bill Monroe: both have butterknifing issues.. it's nearly impossible to attain and maintain the extruders to they are at the *exact* same level
Jun 18, 2015 5:34 AM - Bill Monroe: and the MUST be exact
Jun 18, 2015 5:34 AM - Bill Monroe: also, the idle extruder is always depositing bird dropping on your work
    Jun 18, 2015 5:34 AM - jbigler1986: lol
Jun 18, 2015 5:35 AM - Bill Monroe: the chimera in particular is a marginal design that has little margin for error, meaning jams are a fact of life
Jun 18, 2015 5:35 AM - jbigler1986: could you make the idle one retract like 1mm when not in use
Jun 18, 2015 5:36 AM - Bill Monroe: even if your lucky, the first few millimeters of print when the idle nozzles is restarted is crapola
Jun 18, 2015 5:37 AM - Bill Monroe: I trued a variety of fixes, none solved every problem and some introduced new ones.
Jun 18, 2015 5:37 AM - Bill Monroe: I belive I have a solution now, but using it on a robo is out of the question.. hence, the new machine
Jun 18, 2015 5:37 AM - jbigler1986: need a filament mixer before going into the extruder. like way back by the spool
Jun 18, 2015 5:38 AM - Bill Monroe: ok, that *might* work, but it ties you to using similar materials
Jun 18, 2015 5:38 AM - Bill Monroe: which to me is a marginal improvment
    Jun 18, 2015 5:38 AM - jbigler1986: yeah which i would be fine with
    Jun 18, 2015 5:39 AM - jbigler1986: wouldn't do dual for dual material
Jun 18, 2015 5:39 AM - Bill Monroe: well ok then.. have at it :)
Jun 18, 2015 5:39 AM - Bill Monroe: ya see, a true dual could do anything
Jun 18, 2015 5:39 AM - Stephen Capistron: You want two x carriages
Jun 18, 2015 5:40 AM - Bill Monroe: i want to be able to print cupcake frosting on top of stainless steel :)
    Jun 18, 2015 5:40 AM - jbigler1986: yum
Jun 18, 2015 5:40 AM - jbigler1986: need some strong teeth to eat that
Jun 18, 2015 5:41 AM - Bill Monroe: my first 3D printer decorated cupcakes
Jun 18, 2015 5:42 AM - Bill Monroe: way before arduino and ramps and all the stuff we have now
Jun 18, 2015 5:43 AM - Bill Monroe: my room mate made a machine to cut pizza.. thought she was going to make millions selling them to pizza hut :)
Jun 18, 2015 5:45 AM - Bill Monroe: yes Stephen.. I'll be using two x carriages
Jun 18, 2015 5:46 AM - Bill Monroe: and duplicating the process that Stratasys uses.. right before a carriage returns to use, extrude a little into a waste cup, retract, wipe through a brass brush, then to work
Jun 18, 2015 5:47 AM - Bill Monroe: no tips dragging through the print, no bird drippings, freshly prepped tip each time, etc...
Jun 18, 2015 5:48 AM - Stephen Capistron: The extruders still need to be the exact same length though
Jun 18, 2015 5:48 AM - Bill Monroe: NEMA 23 motors running 48 volts.. printing at lusicrous speed
Jun 18, 2015 5:48 AM - Stephen Capistron: What size belt?
Jun 18, 2015 5:48 AM - Bill Monroe: ya.. that's easy when they're on seperate heads
Jun 18, 2015 5:49 AM - Bill Monroe: size.. uhh.. I didnt stufy for the pop quiz.. hang on...
    Jun 18, 2015 5:49 AM - Bill Monroe: study
    Jun 18, 2015 5:49 AM - Bill Monroe: I think it
    Jun 18, 2015 5:49 AM - Bill Monroe: I think it's XL hang on
Jun 18, 2015 5:50 AM - Bill Monroe: ya, XL
Jun 18, 2015 5:50 AM - jbigler1986: why not just build a bigger x carriage then print the same exact mount. seems as though they would be at the same height. but then yes you still get the turd droppings and such
Jun 18, 2015 5:50 AM - Stephen Capistron: I suppose you can shim the nozzle on each carriage. Just prepare for the paper cuts from hell > http://www.mcmaster.com/#9502k56/=xoddrm
Jun 18, 2015 5:51 AM - Bill Monroe: heh i've included fine thread screws for adjusting
Jun 18, 2015 5:52 AM - Stephen Capistron: I've messed around with that super thin shim stock aligning some ceramic parts for a glue up. It was awful
Jun 18, 2015 5:52 AM - jbigler1986: if i were to try dual i would just make a bigger x carriage for 2 direct drives. would have to print slower and lose some x size
Jun 18, 2015 5:52 AM - Bill Monroe: I liberated the entire x-y drive from a stratasys.. all I need to do is use longer rods and belts and it will be easy to upsize it
Jun 18, 2015 5:53 AM - Bill Monroe: well jb, then you have unacceptable mass to drive around... two singles are much simpler
    Jun 18, 2015 5:54 AM - jbigler1986: yes
Jun 18, 2015 5:55 AM - jbigler1986: but to add it to an existing maachine like the robo that's what i would do
Jun 18, 2015 5:55 AM - Bill Monroe: strat actually has head with two.. but they are way custom, even have a precision mechanism to raise and lower the tips individually
Jun 18, 2015 5:55 AM - Bill Monroe: ya, at some point you just have to embrace the fact the robo isnt the answer
    Jun 18, 2015 5:56 AM - jbigler1986: no it's not
Jun 18, 2015 5:56 AM - Bill Monroe: if you're going to stick with it, at some point you'll need a big-boy printer
Jun 18, 2015 5:57 AM - jbigler1986: i just need to start building another printer. very slowly as i don't get a ton of free time
Jun 18, 2015 5:58 AM - jbigler1986: how much would a mini heater be that you could put inside a printer to heat it
Jun 18, 2015 5:58 AM - Bill Monroe: hey, I thought of another upgrade that works awesome but it'll be a challenge for ya
Jun 18, 2015 5:58 AM - Bill Monroe: you mean the airspace?
    Jun 18, 2015 5:58 AM - jbigler1986: yeah
Jun 18, 2015 5:59 AM - Bill Monroe: for the robo, I'd just use a heatshrink gun
    Jun 18, 2015 5:59 AM - Bill Monroe: a big one
Jun 18, 2015 5:59 AM - Bill Monroe: the thing about heating a robo is, if it's truly hot enough to eliminate the problems, you're cooking all the plastic parts the robo is made of
    Jun 18, 2015 6:00 AM - jbigler1986: thinking a non ghetto rigged way for a built ptinter
    Jun 18, 2015 6:00 AM - jbigler1986: not the robo
Jun 18, 2015 6:00 AM - Bill Monroe: ah well, I have heater bars made for space heating.. 110VAC.
Jun 18, 2015 6:00 AM - Stephen Capistron: And if you start heating the air space you really need a liquid cooled hot end
    Jun 18, 2015 6:00 AM - jbigler1986: what is this upgrade
Jun 18, 2015 6:01 AM - Bill Monroe: i put them in a channel and blow air past them with a centrifugal fan
    Jun 18, 2015 6:01 AM - Bill Monroe: hang on, I'll get a pic
Jun 18, 2015 6:07 AM - Bill Monroe: you can get away without liquid cooling is you blow cool air frpom outside the cabinet through a small flexible hose, or use a fixed-height X-Y and shield the head from the space heat.. or both :)
Jun 18, 2015 6:11 AM - Bill Monroe: heater bar: [IMG]
Jun 18, 2015 6:12 AM - Bill Monroe: combine 4 of those with an Omron controller and a thermocouple... precision pizza oven :)
Jun 18, 2015 6:13 AM - daniel871: JB, I'm thinking about building this when I have the time, you might like it too: https://www.youmagine.com/designs/eustathios
Jun 18, 2015 6:13 AM - daniel871: That would be pretty easy to add an insulated enclosure too, as well, looks like.
Jun 18, 2015 6:14 AM - Bill Monroe: that is an excellent machine
Jun 18, 2015 6:15 AM - Bill Monroe: would not take much to make it full of awesomness
Jun 18, 2015 6:16 AM - Bill Monroe: james taylor on Fallon last night... glad I DVR it
Jun 18, 2015 6:16 AM - daniel871: Plus it looks like the build could fairly easily be scaled to an even larger size if you wanted.
Jun 18, 2015 6:17 AM - Bill Monroe: easy to scale, need to be mindful of parts scaling too
Jun 18, 2015 6:18 AM - Stephen Capistron: longer span means bigger rails
Jun 18, 2015 6:18 AM - jbigler1986: lots of people have been building that
    Jun 18, 2015 6:18 AM - daniel871: Of course.
Jun 18, 2015 6:19 AM - Bill Monroe: i have an older SCARA arm I thought might be fun to use for a printer
Jun 18, 2015 6:19 AM - Bill Monroe: i dont think I've seen anyone do that yet
    Jun 18, 2015 6:19 AM - daniel871: A 3D printer that uses an arm?
    Jun 18, 2015 6:20 AM - jbigler1986: Bill where is this upgrade
    Jun 18, 2015 6:20 AM - Bill Monroe: [IMG]
Jun 18, 2015 6:20 AM - Bill Monroe: oh.. ok
    Jun 18, 2015 6:21 AM - daniel871: http://3dprint.com/41183/robotic-6-axis-3d-printer/
    Jun 18, 2015 6:21 AM - daniel871: They used a much more complicated arm.
Jun 18, 2015 6:21 AM - Bill Monroe: now that you counterbalanced the X axis, remove the two center touch points on the "autolevel"
Jun 18, 2015 6:22 AM - Bill Monroe: mechanically it's simpler.. mathematically its more interesting but once the software is laid down, it's a no brainer
Jun 18, 2015 6:22 AM - Bill Monroe: google "inverse kinematics"
    Jun 18, 2015 6:23 AM - jbigler1986: the 2 middle points?
    Jun 18, 2015 6:23 AM - jbigler1986: of the 9 point autolevel?
Jun 18, 2015 6:23 AM - Stephen Capistron: Or four point, only the corners
Jun 18, 2015 6:23 AM - Bill Monroe: ya.. three I mean.. or just the corners
    Jun 18, 2015 6:24 AM - JeffTheMess:
Jun 18, 2015 6:24 AM - Bill Monroe: see, with the balanced arm, the middle points cause the axis to teeter-totter mucking up the accuracy
    Jun 18, 2015 6:24 AM - jbigler1986: wouldn't the G29 command need edited or a new command all together
Jun 18, 2015 6:28 AM - jbigler1986: or can you specify how many and location of the points for G29
Jun 18, 2015 6:28 AM - JeffTheMess: Bill might like that video
    Jun 18, 2015 6:29 AM - Bill Monroe: ya.. it's cool
    Jun 18, 2015 6:29 AM - Bill Monroe: like I said jb, it's a challenge :)
Jun 18, 2015 6:30 AM - Bill Monroe: now THAT guy has maker skillz :)
    Jun 18, 2015 6:30 AM - jbigler1986: now i must look at the g29 code

    Jun 18, 2015 6:30 AM - jbigler1986: Example: G29 Probes the bed at 3 or more points.
Jun 18, 2015 6:30 AM - jbigler1986: seems as though it's told how many points to probe
Jun 18, 2015 6:33 AM - Bill Monroe: a side effect of counterbalancing the axis is, the total weight increases the load on the already-too-weak table support design
Jun 18, 2015 6:34 AM - jbigler1986: well i removed some of the weight due to gregs wade so that helps
Jun 18, 2015 6:36 AM - jbigler1986: hmmm. gotta be a way to specify which points to probe with G29
    Jun 18, 2015 6:40 AM - Stephen Capistron: http://www.instructables.com/id/Ena...ep2/Marlin-Firmware-set-up-for-Auto-leveling/
Jun 18, 2015 6:43 AM - Bill Monroe: ok, we've lost jb for a couple of days
Jun 18, 2015 6:44 AM - Stephen Capistron: that was your plan all along wasn't it
Jun 18, 2015 6:44 AM - Bill Monroe: you know me so well.. muwahahahaha
Jun 18, 2015 6:44 AM - daniel871: Teach him to think about coming over and eating meat loaf.
Jun 18, 2015 6:44 AM - Bill Monroe: naw.. thinking about eating it just delays actually eating it
Jun 18, 2015 6:45 AM - Stephen Capistron: Only thing better than meatloaf > http://blog.bbqaddicts.com/recipes/bacon-explosion/
Jun 18, 2015 6:45 AM - Bill Monroe: shhh dont tell anyone.. I put bacon on my meatloaf
Jun 18, 2015 6:46 AM - Bill Monroe: but hell.. I put bacon on my bacon so...
Jun 18, 2015 6:46 AM - jbigler1986: hey no speaking of that meatloaf
    Jun 18, 2015 6:47 AM - Bill Monroe: i know.. I'm getting hungry now
Jun 18, 2015 6:47 AM - Bill Monroe: and some vacuum packed in the freezer that 2.0 made
    Jun 18, 2015 6:47 AM - jbigler1986: #define LEFT_PROBE_BED_POSITION 0 #define RIGHT_PROBE_BED_POSITION 225 #define BACK_PROBE_BED_POSITION 278 #define FRONT_PROBE_BED_POSITION 0]
    Jun 18, 2015 6:48 AM - jbigler1986: so i can specify the points there?
Jun 18, 2015 6:48 AM - Bill Monroe: dunno.. never done it in Marlin.. would take some research
    Jun 18, 2015 6:48 AM - jbigler1986: like X225 Y50
Jun 18, 2015 6:50 AM - jbigler1986: oh time to remote in to my pc
    Jun 18, 2015 6:52 AM - Stephen Capistron: also > [IMG]
Jun 18, 2015 6:52 AM - Stephen Capistron: Probably set that to 2
    Jun 18, 2015 6:53 AM - daniel871: Boom, solved.
Jun 18, 2015 6:53 AM - Stephen Capistron: The invoice is in the mail
Jun 18, 2015 6:54 AM - daniel871: Now to just develop a pulley system for the Y-axis that works like the one on the X-axis. That would fix the weak point on the tensioner clips.
Jun 18, 2015 6:56 AM - daniel871: Or something. Because that's just a weak as hell piece of material to depend on as it is.
Jun 18, 2015 6:56 AM - Stephen Capistron: All it would be is a pulley on each end of the Y with a much longer belt
    Jun 18, 2015 6:56 AM - daniel871: Yeah.
Jun 18, 2015 6:57 AM - daniel871: If it was a continuous belt the hard part would be assembling it, but that wouldn't be any different from a timing belt.
Jun 18, 2015 6:57 AM - Stephen Capistron: Robo seems to have had a bad run of those and a piece on the wade extruder
Jun 18, 2015 6:57 AM - Bill Monroe: its ok as-is if the nozzle never touches it.. prox sensors would be sweet
Jun 18, 2015 6:57 AM - Stephen Capistron: likely wet plastic being used
Jun 18, 2015 6:58 AM - Stephen Capistron: Just cover the glas in HVAC tape :D
Jun 18, 2015 6:58 AM - Bill Monroe: wet plastic.. isnt that some SKA band out of north carolina?
Jun 18, 2015 6:58 AM - Bill Monroe: come on.. class it up.. gold leaf :)
Jun 18, 2015 6:59 AM - Stephen Capistron: If plastic has absorbed too much water it will make for a brittle injection molded part. I have seen Valox shatter magnificently because of this.
Jun 18, 2015 7:04 AM - jbigler1986: the probe section is confusing. lol
Jun 18, 2015 7:06 AM - jbigler1986: wait so it's disabled in the firmware? is that correct?
Jun 18, 2015 7:06 AM - Stephen Capistron: The three point is disabled in the firmware
Jun 18, 2015 7:07 AM - Stephen Capistron: If you were to download marlin off github auto-level would be commented out / disabled
Jun 18, 2015 7:07 AM - Stephen Capistron: I need to get an arduino book
    Jun 18, 2015 7:08 AM - jbigler1986: not sure how 3 points ends up being 9 points
Jun 18, 2015 7:09 AM - Stephen Capistron: Because it is getting squared
    Jun 18, 2015 7:09 AM - Mike Kelly: morning
    Jun 18, 2015 7:10 AM - jbigler1986: #define ABL_PROBE_PT_2_X 220 #define ABL_PROBE_PT_2_Y 15
Jun 18, 2015 7:10 AM - jbigler1986: so removing that should do it
    Jun 18, 2015 7:10 AM - jbigler1986: or commenting it out
Jun 18, 2015 7:11 AM - daniel871: Commenting probably safer in case it ends up being a huge mistake.
Jun 18, 2015 7:11 AM - jbigler1986: Then chaging it to 2 instead of 3 will do just the corners
    Jun 18, 2015 7:12 AM - jbigler1986: Sound right?
Jun 18, 2015 7:12 AM - Stephen Capistron: You can skip the "ABL_... stuff I believe
Jun 18, 2015 7:12 AM - Stephen Capistron: Just change the 3 to a 2 and see what it does
    Jun 18, 2015 7:12 AM - Mike Kelly: #define LEFT_PROBE_BED_POSITION 15 #define RIGHT_PROBE_BED_POSITION 200 #define BACK_PROBE_BED_POSITION 240 #define FRONT_PROBE_BED_POSITION 20
    Jun 18, 2015 7:13 AM - Mike Kelly: that's what we use
Jun 18, 2015 7:13 AM - Mike Kelly: like stephen said, just change it from 3 to 2 and that'll do that 4 corners
Jun 18, 2015 7:13 AM - jbigler1986: well it would do the middle point still too
Jun 18, 2015 7:14 AM - Stephen Capistron: why do you think it will do the middle? All that "ABL_..." stuff is for a separate 3 point auto level routine
Jun 18, 2015 7:15 AM - Stephen Capistron: It probably should have been commented out, but you know .... Robo & Matterhackers
Jun 18, 2015 7:15 AM - jbigler1986: so just changing it from 3 to 2 is all that is needed?
    Jun 18, 2015 7:16 AM - Mike Kelly: right
Jun 18, 2015 7:16 AM - Stephen Capistron: Or change it to 20
    Jun 18, 2015 7:16 AM - jbigler1986: why not 40
Jun 18, 2015 7:16 AM - Mike Kelly: why not both?
Jun 18, 2015 7:17 AM - jbigler1986: autolevel now takes an hour itself. lol
    Jun 18, 2015 7:17 AM - Stephen Capistron: Print time: 2 hours. Auto-level time: 3 hours
    Jun 18, 2015 7:18 AM - jbigler1986: 1600 probe points
Jun 18, 2015 7:18 AM - Mike Kelly: i wonder what would happen with that
    Jun 18, 2015 7:19 AM - Stephen Capistron: That is a beefy cross-product
    Jun 18, 2015 7:19 AM - jbigler1986: lol.
Jun 18, 2015 7:20 AM - jbigler1986: think MC can handle that. lol
Jun 18, 2015 7:21 AM - Stephen Capistron: I know those little chips are good at math, but yikes
Jun 18, 2015 7:21 AM - Mike Glass: bababab BOOM
Jun 18, 2015 7:21 AM - Mike Glass: Morning yall
    Jun 18, 2015 7:21 AM - Mike Kelly: yo
Jun 18, 2015 7:23 AM - Mike Kelly: it's kinda shocking to me how many people struggle with the concept of the robo's autolevel
Jun 18, 2015 7:24 AM - jbigler1986: ha CFO just brought me a check for more parts.
    Jun 18, 2015 7:24 AM - Mike Glass: wow, $3 goes a long way
Jun 18, 2015 7:24 AM - Mike Kelly: lol nice
Jun 18, 2015 7:25 AM - jbigler1986: been a lot of people with the switchs facing sideways lately
Jun 18, 2015 7:25 AM - Stephen Capistron: They have no idea what part does what in the printer
Jun 18, 2015 7:25 AM - Stephen Capistron: This is why Tom recommends kits
    Jun 18, 2015 7:25 AM - jbigler1986: get to know your printer
Jun 18, 2015 7:25 AM - Mike Glass: make love to it like JB
    Jun 18, 2015 7:26 AM - jbigler1986: i have been tearing mine apart lately. :)
Jun 18, 2015 7:26 AM - Mike Glass: is that really the term..lol
    Jun 18, 2015 7:27 AM - jbigler1986: fixing what is not broken
Jun 18, 2015 7:27 AM - Mike Glass: you should be able to take it apart blind folded.
Jun 18, 2015 7:29 AM - jbigler1986: haven't messed with the board is about it
Jun 18, 2015 7:30 AM - daniel871: What was the beefy cross-product? I missed that and the box won't scroll up enough.
    Jun 18, 2015 7:30 AM - Mike Kelly: you don't open the shoutbox in it's own tab/
    Jun 18, 2015 7:30 AM - Mike Glass: I now have a uno,nano, and 2460 to mess with.
    Jun 18, 2015 7:31 AM - Stephen Capistron: a 20x20 or 40x40 cross product should you do a 400 or 1600 point auto-level routine
    Jun 18, 2015 7:31 AM - Mike Glass: o_O
Jun 18, 2015 7:32 AM - Stephen Capistron: hell open it as its own thing. Hover over shoutbox and select pop up
Jun 18, 2015 7:32 AM - Stephen Capistron: there is no logical reason for doing that
Jun 18, 2015 7:32 AM - Stephen Capistron: JB is going to try a 4 point auto level
Jun 18, 2015 7:33 AM - daniel871: No, I just sit here with the little framed shoutbox on the main forum page.
Jun 18, 2015 7:33 AM - Mike Glass: just turn it off and do manual

Jun 18, 2015 7:33 AM - Mike Glass: auto compensate sucks
Jun 18, 2015 7:33 AM - Mike Kelly: na it's good if you have a good probe :)
    Jun 18, 2015 7:34 AM - jbigler1986: lasers
Jun 18, 2015 7:34 AM - Mike Glass: the bed flexes so much its a miracle it works
    Jun 18, 2015 7:34 AM - jbigler1986: well it just does
Jun 18, 2015 7:36 AM - Mike Glass: with the printz plate you could use a proximity sensor Mike?
Jun 18, 2015 7:36 AM - Mike Kelly: you could yes
Jun 18, 2015 7:36 AM - Stephen Capistron: they have one with copper in it, yes
Jun 18, 2015 7:36 AM - Mike Kelly: man i probably should have started a print before i left
Jun 18, 2015 7:36 AM - Stephen Capistron: If only you had an octo-pi
Jun 18, 2015 7:37 AM - daniel871: It's what I would do if those Y-axis clips that came with the Robo hadn't broken.
Jun 18, 2015 7:37 AM - daniel871: One broke a couple days ago, then the other one came apart last night.
Jun 18, 2015 7:37 AM - Mike Kelly: i can start it remotely but i've been using babystepping to get a good first layer
Jun 18, 2015 7:37 AM - Mike Kelly: and i also need to remove the print on there
Jun 18, 2015 7:38 AM - Stephen Capistron: You could use a small eye-bolt in place of the y belt clip
Jun 18, 2015 7:39 AM - daniel871: Mount a piece of angle on the carriage that stops shy of the nozzle and have an End-of-Program code to move to the back, drop to 1mm or something, then run forward and knock the print off the bed.
Jun 18, 2015 7:39 AM - Stephen Capistron: zip tie it over itself to fix it to the eye and and use a nut and washer to provide tension
Jun 18, 2015 7:40 AM - daniel871: Probably snap the Y-clips in a hurry without modifying them though.
Jun 18, 2015 7:40 AM - Stephen Capistron: Need that matter hacker punch out thing
Jun 18, 2015 7:40 AM - daniel871: What size thread is on the Y-axis nut anyway?
    Jun 18, 2015 7:40 AM - Stephen Capistron: M3
    Jun 18, 2015 7:40 AM - daniel871: I like how you think, Stephen.
    Jun 18, 2015 7:40 AM - Mike Kelly: no it's M4
    Jun 18, 2015 7:40 AM - Stephen Capistron: M3 was a guess
    Jun 18, 2015 7:41 AM - Mike Kelly: :)
Jun 18, 2015 7:41 AM - Stephen Capistron: everything else seems to be M3
    Jun 18, 2015 7:41 AM - Mike Kelly: there's a smattering of m4 but yeah
Jun 18, 2015 7:41 AM - Stephen Capistron: One of my pet peeves is mixing fastener sizes
Jun 18, 2015 7:43 AM - Stephen Capistron: daniel, a No 6 will fit easily through the clearance hole of the M4
Jun 18, 2015 7:49 AM - jbigler1986: That punch thing is not allowed
Jun 18, 2015 7:49 AM - Mike Kelly: i'll take that punch thing if it punches matterhackers team when they're not working on their broken ass software
Jun 18, 2015 7:51 AM - JeffTheMess: (those are fighting words)
    Jun 18, 2015 7:52 AM - jbigler1986: Ok that is fair MK
Jun 18, 2015 7:52 AM - daniel871: That's why I suggested a carriage attachment that you basically use the existing motors on the Robo to knock parts off with.
Jun 18, 2015 7:52 AM - jbigler1986: U didnt think it was bad until you tried using it with the R1.6
    Jun 18, 2015 7:53 AM - Mike Kelly: https://www.3dhubs.com/denver/hubs/dolores well if i need some 10 micron prints...
    Jun 18, 2015 7:53 AM - Mike Kelly: i didn't think what was bad?
    Jun 18, 2015 7:54 AM - daniel871: 6/32?
Jun 18, 2015 7:56 AM - Mike Kelly: https://www.3dhubs.com/denver/hubs/zak wow soliddoodles are crappy
    Jun 18, 2015 7:59 AM - jbigler1986: Holy shit that ship
    Jun 18, 2015 7:59 AM - Stephen Capistron: #6
Jun 18, 2015 7:59 AM - Mike Kelly: yeah that ship is crazy
Jun 18, 2015 8:00 AM - daniel871: Not finding any on McMaster, trying Amazon's crappy search.
Jun 18, 2015 8:00 AM - Mike Glass: I think I could poop out a better marvin than that soliddoodle
Jun 18, 2015 8:00 AM - daniel871: Do it and post it as a make.
    Jun 18, 2015 8:01 AM - Stephen Capistron: Ace
Jun 18, 2015 8:01 AM - Mike Kelly: ace is the place
    Jun 18, 2015 8:01 AM - jbigler1986: That they are
Jun 18, 2015 8:02 AM - Stephen Capistron: With the friendly hardware folk
Jun 18, 2015 8:02 AM - jbigler1986: Dont buy ball bearings from there. Expensive as hell
Jun 18, 2015 8:02 AM - Stephen Capistron: I don't go to my local ace, the parking situation is horrendous as it is right downtown
    Jun 18, 2015 8:02 AM - jbigler1986: Like $10 a piece expensive
Jun 18, 2015 8:02 AM - Mike Kelly: ace is kinda pricey overall
    Jun 18, 2015 8:02 AM - Mike Kelly: you're paying for convenience
Jun 18, 2015 8:04 AM - Mike Kelly: i feel like we should be using a plate heat exchanger here instead of a shell and tube
Jun 18, 2015 8:04 AM - jbigler1986: The kid at the skateboard shop was so confused as to what i needed the bearings for
    Jun 18, 2015 8:04 AM - daniel871: Ace's website sucks.
Jun 18, 2015 8:04 AM - daniel871: Search "Eyebolt" get concrete anchors as a result.
Jun 18, 2015 8:05 AM - Stephen Capistron: Print out one of those little finger skate board things and drop it off
Jun 18, 2015 8:06 AM - Mike Kelly: yeah ace needs better websites but each store has to run their own
Jun 18, 2015 8:06 AM - jbigler1986: Tried to tell me the cheapest they had were $24 for a 8 pack. I said you are wrong. You have several that are $10. Then he said oh yeah i forgot about those
Jun 18, 2015 8:06 AM - Mike Kelly: i bet home depot or lowes would have them
    Jun 18, 2015 8:07 AM - jbigler1986: #6 yeah probably
Jun 18, 2015 8:10 AM - Stephen Capistron: When ever someone mentions a plate heat exchanger, which is not often, I think of one of their best uses. In the hood of a commercial kitchen
Jun 18, 2015 8:10 AM - Stephen Capistron: Someone, I don't remember who, sells a system for heat recovery above the ovens and griddles to heat the incoming water
    Jun 18, 2015 8:12 AM - Mike Kelly: that's clever
Jun 18, 2015 8:13 AM - Mike Glass: I used to clean our restraunts heat exchanger as a kid, i was small enough to fit in and get to the top..lol
Jun 18, 2015 8:13 AM - Mike Glass: that was one messy job
Jun 18, 2015 8:16 AM - Mike Glass: Mike do you have a link to your hub?
    Jun 18, 2015 8:19 AM - Mike Kelly: https://www.3dhubs.com/denver/hubs/mike-kelly
Jun 18, 2015 8:22 AM - Mike Glass: you have nija flex?
    Jun 18, 2015 8:23 AM - Mike Kelly: yes
Jun 18, 2015 8:24 AM - Mike Glass: have you printed with it?
    Jun 18, 2015 8:24 AM - Mike Kelly: no
Jun 18, 2015 8:24 AM - Mike Glass: I would like to try some, but not sure it would work with mine, maybe the semi-flex.
Jun 18, 2015 8:25 AM - Mike Kelly: yeah i'm gonna go buy a brass tube when i go to ace next
Jun 18, 2015 8:25 AM - Mike Kelly: and give it a go
Jun 18, 2015 8:25 AM - Mike Kelly: or i might just modify my spare carriage
Jun 18, 2015 8:32 AM - Mike Glass: man that stuff is expensive
Jun 18, 2015 8:35 AM - jbigler1986: Stock robo is supposed to be able to print nijaflex
    Jun 18, 2015 8:35 AM - jbigler1986: Jerry Berg did it
Jun 18, 2015 8:37 AM - JeffTheMess: hows the 3dhub working out for you Mike K
    Jun 18, 2015 8:37 AM - daniel871: Barnacules?
    Jun 18, 2015 8:38 AM - jbigler1986: Yeah
Jun 18, 2015 8:40 AM - daniel871: His McDonald's straw above the extruder gave me the idea to use my excess PTFE tube to keep the spool straightened out/untangled as the Robo runs.
    Jun 18, 2015 8:40 AM - daniel871: Also, who else got Eumaker's PLA samples?
    Jun 18, 2015 8:40 AM - daniel871: I wasn't impressed.
Jun 18, 2015 8:40 AM - JeffTheMess: He was going to review the new R1
Jun 18, 2015 8:41 AM - Mike Kelly: yeah he also has one of my enclosures, doubt he'll ever make it
Jun 18, 2015 8:41 AM - daniel871: Stuff was brittle as hell and ran like water on the same settings I use for JustPLA.
Jun 18, 2015 8:42 AM - Mike Kelly: considering the other free stuff he gets to review
Jun 18, 2015 8:42 AM - Mike Glass: I did dan, have not printed with it
Jun 18, 2015 8:45 AM - daniel871: Might have to lower the temp on it when you do, like I said, mine ran like a liquid on the same settings that print well with JustPLA.
Jun 18, 2015 8:46 AM - daniel871: Though that may be a good thing from an energy usage side of things over the extremely long term.
Jun 18, 2015 8:46 AM - JeffTheMess: Don't they place a label to which temp is best for that pla?
    Jun 18, 2015 8:46 AM - daniel871: Not for the free sample.
    Jun 18, 2015 8:46 AM - daniel871: And I wasn't going to spend 40 moon currencies for a spool.
Jun 18, 2015 8:47 AM - JeffTheMess: You'd think they would send a good quality sample lol
Jun 18, 2015 8:48 AM - Mike Glass: does it seems stiff to you?
Jun 18, 2015 8:48 AM - donhuevo: not gonna do it

Jun 18, 2015 8:49 AM - daniel871: Not quite that easy to break, but didn't feel like PLA feels to me.
Jun 18, 2015 8:49 AM - daniel871: Some weird filler or something in it.
Jun 18, 2015 8:50 AM - daniel871: Just saw a hilarious parody political thing but can't post it here.

    Jun 18, 2015 9:04 AM - jbigler1986: Party time?
Jun 18, 2015 9:05 AM - daniel871: Haha, the local hub that does molds is run by a guy named Thor.
Jun 18, 2015 9:07 AM - JeffTheMess: ("you want me to put down the mold?! I'll put down the mold!")
Jun 18, 2015 9:07 AM - daniel871: He responded to the Robo clip file with "I haven't done something with fine slots like that, but I'm willing to give it a shot!" and I'm tempted to respond "I'm sure you can do it, Thor Son of John" (his last name is Johnson).
Jun 18, 2015 9:08 AM - daniel871: Probably just make him roll his eyes though.
Jun 18, 2015 9:12 AM - Mike Glass: are those panes laser etched, or sandblasted, or just acid etched?
Jun 18, 2015 9:16 AM - daniel871: He also has a Robo, so if he figures it out he'll probably make some for his printer as well.
Jun 18, 2015 9:18 AM - JeffTheMess: not sure mike but here some one made it http://www.instructables.com/id/Pier-9-AiR-inside-the-box-how-to-etch-and-display-/
Jun 18, 2015 9:29 AM - daniel871: Some people use vinyl cutouts from a Silhouette machine to protect the glass while they etch it with an "air eraser" or sand blaster.

Jun 18, 2015 9:41 AM - Mike Glass: maybe a bb size turd
Jun 18, 2015 9:41 AM - daniel871: Could always upscale the model by Pi and the gaps would certainly be bigger.

    Jun 18, 2015 10:07 AM - jbigler1986: totally forgot i was printing something
Jun 18, 2015 10:16 AM - jbigler1986: A short while ago we were a team of three, but 16,000+ Tiko’s aren’t going to deliver themselves, so we’ve brought some remarkable people on board to step up our game.
    Jun 18, 2015 10:16 AM - jbigler1986: ha
Jun 18, 2015 10:17 AM - jbigler1986: It survived without a scratch! With only a moderate amount of padding, our precious prototype made it back in one piece. Unibody for the win!
    Jun 18, 2015 10:17 AM - jbigler1986: Really your 1 protype you can't take with you?
    Jun 18, 2015 10:18 AM - jbigler1986: I would guard that thing like crazy
Jun 18, 2015 10:19 AM - Mike Kelly: what are you talking about
Jun 18, 2015 10:19 AM - daniel871: Quoting an article about Tiko printers I guess.
    Jun 18, 2015 10:19 AM - daniel871: Or a social media post.

Jun 18, 2015 10:20 AM - daniel871: Glow in the dark red filament was delivered, now I need to get my Robo working again so I can print something with it.
Jun 18, 2015 10:21 AM - Shank: could you run to heater cartridges off the same ramp at the same time?
    Jun 18, 2015 10:21 AM - daniel871: I have a love/hate relationship with text notifications when I get a delivery.
    Jun 18, 2015 10:22 AM - jbigler1986: um i wouldn't shank. MK can verify that
    Jun 18, 2015 10:22 AM - jbigler1986: You probably "can" but i wouldn't
Jun 18, 2015 10:23 AM - Mike Kelly: uh i guess i don't understand what the intended application would be'
Jun 18, 2015 10:24 AM - jbigler1986: dual extruder would be my guess
Jun 18, 2015 10:24 AM - daniel871: Wouldn't that mean that you're stuck running both heaters at the same temperature, or do I not understand how the ramps work?
    Jun 18, 2015 10:24 AM - jbigler1986: that is correct
Jun 18, 2015 10:24 AM - jbigler1986: but if its the same material it would be fine
Jun 18, 2015 10:24 AM - Mike Kelly: if they were both heating the same thing
Jun 18, 2015 10:25 AM - daniel871: The only thing about the Tiko I like is the claim about pausing when detecting that the filament has run out and waiting for you to reload before continuing.
Jun 18, 2015 10:25 AM - Shank: just looking at a different heater block
Jun 18, 2015 10:25 AM - Shank: would it divide the power or would both be equally as powerfull
    Jun 18, 2015 10:26 AM - jbigler1986: i'm not understanding now
Jun 18, 2015 10:26 AM - Mike Kelly: if you ran them in parallel it would be the sum of the wattage
Jun 18, 2015 10:26 AM - daniel871: He's wondering if the real temps would be halved.
    Jun 18, 2015 10:26 AM - jbigler1986: 1 heater block requires 2 heater cartridge?

    Jun 18, 2015 10:27 AM - Mike Kelly: don't see why you'd possibly need 2 heater blocks
Jun 18, 2015 10:27 AM - Mike Kelly: the 40W one can easily get up to like 700C
Jun 18, 2015 10:28 AM - Shank: alright maybe i will just switch to the 40W then
    Jun 18, 2015 10:33 AM - jbigler1986: yeah 2 is way overkill
    Jun 18, 2015 10:33 AM - daniel871: Also, inefficient?
    Jun 18, 2015 10:33 AM - Mike Kelly: bit of both :)
Jun 18, 2015 10:34 AM - jbigler1986: are you having issues or something shank?
Jun 18, 2015 10:36 AM - Shank: still cant get my volcano up to temp with the fans, along with playing around with a different extruder idea
Jun 18, 2015 10:36 AM - daniel871: Sounds like the fans need to be aimed a little lower.
    Jun 18, 2015 10:37 AM - Mike Kelly: ^
Jun 18, 2015 10:37 AM - Shank: they are almost flat with the bed
Jun 18, 2015 10:38 AM - jbigler1986: btw MK the new fan position works great
Jun 18, 2015 10:38 AM - Mike Kelly: sweet glad you like it
Jun 18, 2015 10:38 AM - daniel871: You should probably print the carriage JB is using, Shank.
Jun 18, 2015 10:39 AM - Shank: i should probably switch back to the stock e3d and forget the volcano
Jun 18, 2015 10:39 AM - daniel871: Has that been uploaded to Thingiverse yet?
    Jun 18, 2015 10:40 AM - Mike Kelly: nope
Jun 18, 2015 10:40 AM - daniel871: I've had great luck with the volcano when other things on the Robo aren't breaking.
Jun 18, 2015 10:40 AM - Mike Kelly: JB does it clip the case?
Jun 18, 2015 10:41 AM - jbigler1986: don't believe so. i moved it really high the other day and didn't notice any issues
Jun 18, 2015 10:43 AM - jbigler1986: I need to make the holes for the spring tension bolts a little bigger before I upload it.
    Jun 18, 2015 10:44 AM - jbigler1986: Had to file it a tiny bit
Jun 18, 2015 10:46 AM - donhuevo: Shank, you could try lowering the fan percentages
Jun 18, 2015 10:46 AM - donhuevo: maybe you somehow got some really high CFM fans
    Jun 18, 2015 10:47 AM - jbigler1986: worth a try
Jun 18, 2015 10:47 AM - Shank: thats what i have been doing its about %50
Jun 18, 2015 10:47 AM - Shank: that pushes it up to %200
Jun 18, 2015 10:47 AM - donhuevo: have you done a PID autotune yet?
    Jun 18, 2015 10:47 AM - Shank: 200C
    Jun 18, 2015 10:47 AM - daniel871: That's always a thing to check.
    Jun 18, 2015 10:47 AM - Shank: Yep
Jun 18, 2015 10:48 AM - Mike Kelly: are you sure the thermistor is secure
    Jun 18, 2015 10:48 AM - Shank: i use the stud thermistor
    Jun 18, 2015 10:49 AM - Mike Kelly: i see
Jun 18, 2015 10:49 AM - daniel871: He'd get min temp errors if it wasn't (had that happen to me last week after replacing the heat break, somehow).
    Jun 18, 2015 10:49 AM - jbigler1986: 50% shouldn't push it to 200%
    Jun 18, 2015 10:50 AM - jbigler1986: 255 is 100%
    Jun 18, 2015 10:50 AM - daniel871: Think he meant 50% only lets him get 200C
Jun 18, 2015 10:50 AM - Mike Kelly: what temperature can you achieve with the fans off
    Jun 18, 2015 10:50 AM - Mike Kelly: i should say, can you hit 260C ?\
Jun 18, 2015 10:50 AM - Mike Kelly: because with the stud you don't want to go above that
Jun 18, 2015 10:50 AM - Shank: no fans and it works fine, its the fans that kill it
    Jun 18, 2015 10:51 AM - jbigler1986: there is ur issue
Jun 18, 2015 10:51 AM - donhuevo: maybe disconnect one of them?
Jun 18, 2015 10:51 AM - Mike Kelly: could be that 25W heater core just isn't good enough
Jun 18, 2015 10:51 AM - Mike Kelly: measure the resistance of it
    Jun 18, 2015 10:51 AM - Shank: i will order a 40W then
    Jun 18, 2015 10:51 AM - jbigler1986: ur not good enough
    Jun 18, 2015 10:51 AM - jbigler1986: jk. love ya
Jun 18, 2015 10:51 AM - Mike Kelly: that's what my mom always said :(
    Jun 18, 2015 10:52 AM - daniel871: Puts a creepy spin on "That's what she said!"
Jun 18, 2015 10:53 AM - Shank: the 40W would be enough probably
Jun 18, 2015 10:53 AM - Mike Kelly: yeah maybe
Jun 18, 2015 10:54 AM - Shank: id hate to lose my dual fans
Jun 18, 2015 10:55 AM - jbigler1986: new heater cartridge should do it
Jun 18, 2015 10:55 AM - Mike Kelly: you'd just need to shroud it
Jun 18, 2015 10:55 AM - jbigler1986: using the one from the hex?
Jun 18, 2015 10:55 AM - Shank: does that mount to the old X carriage?
Jun 18, 2015 10:56 AM - Shank: its hard to print new parts when having heating problems
    Jun 18, 2015 10:56 AM - jbigler1986: does what mount?
Jun 18, 2015 10:56 AM - Mike Kelly: so print without a fan
Jun 18, 2015 10:57 AM - daniel871: Print ABS since parts fan should be off for that anyway.
    Jun 18, 2015 10:57 AM - jbigler1986: u can print pla without
    Jun 18, 2015 10:58 AM - Mike Kelly: yup
Jun 18, 2015 10:58 AM - Shank: what just cool down the printer temp?
Jun 18, 2015 10:58 AM - Mike Kelly: just print man
    Jun 18, 2015 10:58 AM - jbigler1986: slow it down some
Jun 18, 2015 10:58 AM - Mike Kelly: it'll work as long as you don't go too fast
Jun 18, 2015 10:58 AM - Mike Kelly: just print at like 40mm/s
Jun 18, 2015 10:58 AM - jbigler1986: that use to be my normal speed
Jun 18, 2015 10:59 AM - Shank: alright i will try when i get home....now what parts should i print to fix it
Jun 18, 2015 11:00 AM - Mike Kelly: lemme see how your design looks
    Jun 18, 2015 11:00 AM - jbigler1986: got a pic of your setup?
Jun 18, 2015 11:00 AM - Mike Kelly: i think i saw it the other day
Jun 18, 2015 11:01 AM - Shank: not of it at the moment..let me see if my cad data that matches
    Jun 18, 2015 11:02 AM - Shank: [IMG]
Jun 18, 2015 11:03 AM - JimBlue: Where is the home button on the Robo 3D ?
    Jun 18, 2015 11:03 AM - Mike Kelly: doesn't have one
Jun 18, 2015 11:03 AM - Mike Kelly: you send a home command from software or LCD
Jun 18, 2015 11:03 AM - JimBlue: The auto-level faq thread, people keep mentioning it.
Jun 18, 2015 11:04 AM - donhuevo: how soon till we can get a rectangular sock for E3D's... http://printrbot.com/shop/insulation-sock-for-ubis-hot-end/
Jun 18, 2015 11:04 AM - Mike Kelly: yeah shank i'm not fully understanding why you'd cool the heater block that much
Jun 18, 2015 11:04 AM - Mike Kelly: dons idea is good though, kapton tape or some sort of silicone to insulate it would help
Jun 18, 2015 11:05 AM - JimBlue: I will be trying the paper leveling part. I adjusted the layer thickness in Cura. It said it wasn't a multiple of nozzle output thickness. It is now.
Jun 18, 2015 11:05 AM - JimBlue: I had it at 1.0, changed it to 0.4. Is that okay ?
Jun 18, 2015 11:06 AM - Shank: alright i will look at insulating it and adding the 40W
Jun 18, 2015 11:07 AM - donhuevo: most prints with a .4 nozzle have .2 layer heights. You really don't want to go much more over 50% of the nozzle width
Jun 18, 2015 11:08 AM - JimBlue: Okay. That could be part of my problem.
Jun 18, 2015 11:11 AM - JimBlue: Cura put up a warning, said layer height of 0.2 is bad. Likes 0.1 layer height.
Jun 18, 2015 11:12 AM - Shank: well that suckes printed solid doesnt have a 40W heater
    Jun 18, 2015 11:12 AM - Shank: sucks*
Jun 18, 2015 11:12 AM - JimBlue: Weird... tried it again, didn't get upset with 0.2 layer height.

Jun 18, 2015 11:14 AM - JimBlue: What other values should I check on ?
    Jun 18, 2015 11:15 AM - daniel871: Would that be 12v vs 24v on the heater?
    Jun 18, 2015 11:16 AM - Shank: i think they are 12v

    Jun 18, 2015 11:19 AM - jbigler1986: they are 12v but you can get a 24v
Jun 18, 2015 11:19 AM - Shank: would i have to change the Firmware?
Jun 18, 2015 11:19 AM - JimBlue: Loose nut rolling around in bottom of my Robo. I took the bottom off. Where does the fan plug back into ? The left or right side of where it says 12v ?
Jun 18, 2015 11:20 AM - jbigler1986: MK can get the pic quick
Jun 18, 2015 11:20 AM - jbigler1986: I have the pic but it will take me a minute
    Jun 18, 2015 11:20 AM - JimBlue: k.
    Jun 18, 2015 11:21 AM - jbigler1986: give me a minute
Jun 18, 2015 11:21 AM - JimBlue: k, I can wait a bit before going back out into the heat of the day.
    Jun 18, 2015 11:22 AM - jbigler1986: http://i.imgur.com/25qxaXVl.jpg
Jun 18, 2015 11:23 AM - JimBlue: okay, but left or right side of the connector ? There are 3 pins, the fan has 2 pins.
    Jun 18, 2015 11:23 AM - jbigler1986: [IMG]
    Jun 18, 2015 11:24 AM - jbigler1986: should be a 2 pin connector
    Jun 18, 2015 11:25 AM - JimBlue: It says 0, 5, 12
    Jun 18, 2015 11:25 AM - Stephen Capistron: your fan 5v right?
Jun 18, 2015 11:25 AM - JimBlue: I think uvv or ucc is next to the 5 and the 12.
    Jun 18, 2015 11:25 AM - JimBlue: The fan itself says 12v.
    Jun 18, 2015 11:26 AM - Stephen Capistron: then it won't matter
    Jun 18, 2015 11:26 AM - Stephen Capistron: do the 0 and 5
Jun 18, 2015 11:26 AM - JimBlue: soooo, left or right side of connector ? Should I blue smoke test it ?
Jun 18, 2015 11:27 AM - JimBlue: Okay. I'll try the left and middle pin on the board.
Jun 18, 2015 11:27 AM - JimBlue: Back when I can. No wifi/Internet out in the shed.
    Jun 18, 2015 11:27 AM - jbigler1986: it should be a 2 pin. shouldnt be a choice
Jun 18, 2015 11:28 AM - JimBlue: Yeah, but the chassis has a 3 pin, fan is 2 pin.
Jun 18, 2015 11:28 AM - Stephen Capistron: invest in a powerline adapter to get ethernet out there
Jun 18, 2015 11:29 AM - jbigler1986: are you plugging it in where it's circled in the pic

    Jun 18, 2015 11:35 AM - jbigler1986: yes
Jun 18, 2015 11:37 AM - Stephen Capistron: I fully expect you to have one of those built by years end so you can interface with your printer remotely
Jun 18, 2015 11:38 AM - Mike Kelly: lol i like your realistic timeline for me
    Jun 18, 2015 11:39 AM - Stephen Capistron: you have 6 months
Jun 18, 2015 11:40 AM - Stephen Capistron: In a year it should work with the occulus touch thing
Jun 18, 2015 11:44 AM - donhuevo: that makes me happy jb
Jun 18, 2015 11:45 AM - Mike Glass: you want the speed, you cant handle the speed. or is that truth?
    Jun 18, 2015 11:46 AM - Stephen Capistron: i can't handle either
Jun 18, 2015 11:46 AM - Mike Glass: im sure you wont get any here.
    Jun 18, 2015 11:47 AM - donhuevo: I'm wondering how close to 300mm/sec I could get with a smoothieboard
    Jun 18, 2015 11:47 AM - donhuevo: and a .4 at the end of a volcano
    Jun 18, 2015 11:48 AM - jbigler1986: you run at 140 or 150?
Jun 18, 2015 11:48 AM - Mike Glass: you better have a v8 engine for an extruder motor
    Jun 18, 2015 11:49 AM - donhuevo: I've done infill at 150, travel moves at 300
    Jun 18, 2015 11:50 AM - jbigler1986: only 300. come on
    Jun 18, 2015 11:51 AM - donhuevo: good point
    Jun 18, 2015 11:52 AM - daniel871: I'm jealous. I'm literally breaking my Y-axis clips and not getting those speeds. :p
    Jun 18, 2015 11:53 AM - Mike Glass: clips?
    Jun 18, 2015 11:53 AM - daniel871: The belt tensioner clips snapped.
Jun 18, 2015 11:53 AM - daniel871: One broke two days ago, the other broke last night.
Jun 18, 2015 11:53 AM - Mike Glass: you have an older model?
Jun 18, 2015 11:53 AM - daniel871: The thin section where the nut is located broke.
Jun 18, 2015 11:54 AM - daniel871: I have no idea when it was actually built, but I think I'm not 100% current.
Jun 18, 2015 11:54 AM - Mike Glass: yours is not Ti?
Jun 18, 2015 11:54 AM - daniel871: I have the 8mm rods, but not the hard stops I've seen on some pictures.
    Jun 18, 2015 11:54 AM - daniel871: Ti?
Jun 18, 2015 11:56 AM - Mike Glass: titanium..ha yeah right just through that out. what hard stops are you seeing?
Jun 18, 2015 11:58 AM - donhuevo: at those speeds, you need to drop your acceleration numbers in the firmware, jerk too
Jun 18, 2015 12:06 PM - donhuevo: well, according to Tom, jerk should be 20-30% of your printing speed
Jun 18, 2015 12:06 PM - daniel871: Saw some images of new printers people have gotten with little L-shaped stops mounted on the X-axis.
Jun 18, 2015 12:07 PM - daniel871: Opposite side from the homing sensors.
    Jun 18, 2015 12:09 PM - Mike Kelly: eh?
Jun 18, 2015 12:12 PM - daniel871: Posted about it in the Shoutbox first time I saw them, but didn't save the images.
Jun 18, 2015 12:13 PM - daniel871: Hang on, I'll see if I can find them in the archive.
    Jun 18, 2015 12:13 PM - donhuevo: something on the latest robo's?
Jun 18, 2015 12:16 PM - Stephen Capistron: some have the x switch on the carriage and others on the z idler right?
    Jun 18, 2015 12:16 PM - Mike Kelly: yeah
Jun 18, 2015 12:16 PM - Mike Kelly: newer printers as of like december have it on the X carriage
Jun 18, 2015 12:16 PM - donhuevo: doesn't the ramps allow for max end switches too?
    Jun 18, 2015 12:17 PM - Mike Kelly: yup
Jun 18, 2015 12:19 PM - Mike Glass: who uses Max switches though
    Jun 18, 2015 12:19 PM - donhuevo: deltas would
    Jun 18, 2015 12:19 PM - Mike Kelly: deltas
    Jun 18, 2015 12:19 PM - Stephen Capistron: jinx
Jun 18, 2015 12:20 PM - Mike Glass: Oh, they dont know where to stop?
Jun 18, 2015 12:21 PM - Mike Kelly: well you home on the top instead of the bottom
Jun 18, 2015 12:23 PM - Mike Glass: so they are on each corner on the bottom?
Jun 18, 2015 12:23 PM - donhuevo: switches are at the top
Jun 18, 2015 12:23 PM - Mike Kelly: at the max position :)
Jun 18, 2015 12:24 PM - Mike Glass: must be different setups, looking at one that has switches on the bottom. [IMG]
    Jun 18, 2015 12:25 PM - donhuevo: that's upside down
    Jun 18, 2015 12:25 PM - jbigler1986: ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh
    Jun 18, 2015 12:25 PM - jbigler1986: awake now?
Jun 18, 2015 12:26 PM - Mike Glass: not sure how well it prints upside down
Jun 18, 2015 12:26 PM - Mike Kelly: never seen one like that

    Jun 18, 2015 12:30 PM - Mike Kelly: lol
    Jun 18, 2015 12:30 PM - jbigler1986: although i do have everything I would need for it
Jun 18, 2015 12:31 PM - Mike Glass: so how does it stop when it hits the plate, or is that defined like a bed?
Jun 18, 2015 12:32 PM - donhuevo: it would be defined the way we define our maxes
Jun 18, 2015 12:34 PM - Mike Glass: so if you eff up your gonna crash.
Jun 18, 2015 12:37 PM - Stephen Capistron: Why do you think they call them deltas?
Jun 18, 2015 12:37 PM - Mike Kelly: that's why autolevel is very popular for deltas

Jun 18, 2015 1:03 PM - Bill Monroe: they're the ones that wrote the labview compiler for arduino
Jun 18, 2015 1:03 PM - Bill Monroe: either them or aledyne.. or together... they're neaar each other.. i think one wrote it and the other sells it oe something
Jun 18, 2015 1:04 PM - Bill Monroe: i recreated the entire arduino LCD library and added some features.. all just this morning
Jun 18, 2015 1:12 PM - Mike Glass: who wants a low cost waterjet. https://plus.google.com/+AdamLibert/posts
    Jun 18, 2015 1:12 PM - jbigler1986: I DO
Jun 18, 2015 1:13 PM - Bill Monroe: can it cut anythng more than tissue paper?
    Jun 18, 2015 1:13 PM - jbigler1986: 10K
Jun 18, 2015 1:13 PM - Mike Glass: just steel and aluminum
Jun 18, 2015 1:13 PM - Bill Monroe: gimme one that can at least do 1/4" steel and I'll listen
Jun 18, 2015 1:14 PM - Mike Glass: Give me $100K then we will talk
Jun 18, 2015 1:14 PM - Bill Monroe: water jet cutting is uber messy and maintenance nightmares
Jun 18, 2015 1:14 PM - Mike Glass: must be proven though they are everywhere
    Jun 18, 2015 1:15 PM - Bill Monroe: so is herpes :)
Jun 18, 2015 1:15 PM - Mike Kelly: that's more pressure than i'd want at home
Jun 18, 2015 1:15 PM - Mike Glass: Jb, his build is around 5K the 10k was a competitors price
    Jun 18, 2015 1:15 PM - jbigler1986: ah
Jun 18, 2015 1:16 PM - Mike Glass: this on is interesting as well.
    Jun 18, 2015 1:16 PM - Mike Glass: sounds like a effin rc airplane..lol
    Jun 18, 2015 1:18 PM - Bill Monroe:
Jun 18, 2015 1:19 PM - Mike Kelly: ugh i'm having a large motivation problem
Jun 18, 2015 1:19 PM - Mike Glass: smoke some pot, I hear it does wonders for that..lol
Jun 18, 2015 1:20 PM - Mike Kelly: totally the answer
Jun 18, 2015 1:21 PM - Mike Kelly: really the answer is "hey we just got an order for 10 units, design them to completion before we even start building!"
    Jun 18, 2015 1:24 PM - jbigler1986: ugh
Jun 18, 2015 1:26 PM - Mike Kelly: i hope i have enough filament for this print
    Jun 18, 2015 1:26 PM - Mike Kelly: i think it's gonna be close
    Jun 18, 2015 1:26 PM - Mike Kelly: http://www.ustream.tv/channel/ride-along-my-robo-3d
    Jun 18, 2015 1:27 PM - jbigler1986: nice watermark
    Jun 18, 2015 1:28 PM - Mike Kelly: oh i know right
    Jun 18, 2015 1:29 PM - jbigler1986: do u ever print with r1.6
    Jun 18, 2015 1:29 PM - Mike Kelly: yeah a little
Jun 18, 2015 1:30 PM - Mike Kelly: i've been making a camera holder on it for the rep2
    Jun 18, 2015 1:33 PM - jbigler1986: nice
Jun 18, 2015 1:33 PM - Sims Reaper: How fast is that MK?
    Jun 18, 2015 1:33 PM - jbigler1986: so u got the usb problem fixed?
Jun 18, 2015 1:39 PM - Mike Kelly: so i think one of two things is happening with my cameras, either they're eating up too much bandwidth or they're using too much power
Jun 18, 2015 1:39 PM - Mike Kelly: possibly both
    Jun 18, 2015 1:42 PM - jbigler1986: probably to much bandwith
Jun 18, 2015 1:43 PM - jbigler1986: need to run them from seperate usb controllers
    Jun 18, 2015 1:43 PM - Mike Kelly: i am...
    Jun 18, 2015 1:43 PM - Mike Kelly: i'm considering buying a USB3.0 one
Jun 18, 2015 1:44 PM - daniel871: Need to run it on a Raspberry Pi.
Jun 18, 2015 1:45 PM - Mike Kelly: don't think a rasberry pi can handle 3-4 cameras either
    Jun 18, 2015 1:46 PM - jbigler1986: NO WAY
Jun 18, 2015 1:47 PM - daniel871: They make a module for it just for that, actually. http://www.ebay.com/itm/Multi-camer...rd-/271819822071?_trksid=p2141725.m3641.l6368
    Jun 18, 2015 1:47 PM - Mike Kelly: 90mm/s jb
Jun 18, 2015 1:47 PM - Mike Kelly: not usb cameras
    Jun 18, 2015 1:48 PM - jbigler1986: ^
    Jun 18, 2015 1:49 PM - daniel871: Moving goalposts. :p
Jun 18, 2015 1:49 PM - daniel871: Get that and some cameras that work for it and use your USB cameras elsewhere. :p
Jun 18, 2015 1:49 PM - jbigler1986: might have to upgrade your pc MK
Jun 18, 2015 1:49 PM - Mike Kelly: yeah it is pretty ancient
Jun 18, 2015 1:49 PM - jbigler1986: those are only for PI cameras
    Jun 18, 2015 1:49 PM - Mike Kelly: 2007 D=
Jun 18, 2015 1:50 PM - jbigler1986: yeah that is probably the issue
    Jun 18, 2015 1:51 PM - jbigler1986: stream webcams require lots of bandwith/power
Jun 18, 2015 1:51 PM - daniel871: I like how the stream looks like you're viewing it as a mirage in the desert.
Jun 18, 2015 1:53 PM - daniel871: Needs that music sting from that Clint Eastwood movie that would play "suspensful" music when someone was fading out thru a mirage.
Jun 18, 2015 1:53 PM - Mike Kelly: the usb2.0 card is even older
    Jun 18, 2015 1:53 PM - Mike Kelly: i think i got it in like 2005
Jun 18, 2015 1:53 PM - Mike Kelly: gotta love that cmos effect
Jun 18, 2015 2:12 PM - Mike Kelly: is it just me or does it appear not to be extruding anymore
Jun 18, 2015 2:12 PM - Mike Kelly: i bet i ran out of filament
    Jun 18, 2015 2:23 PM - jbigler1986: Let me see
    Jun 18, 2015 2:25 PM - jbigler1986: Did you stop it
    Jun 18, 2015 2:25 PM - Mike Kelly: yes
    Jun 18, 2015 2:26 PM - Mike Kelly: it wasn't working anymore
    Jun 18, 2015 2:27 PM - jbigler1986: Remote access is a great thing
    Jun 18, 2015 2:27 PM - Mike Kelly: agreed
    Jun 18, 2015 2:28 PM - jbigler1986: Thats why i have my camera setup
Jun 18, 2015 2:29 PM - jbigler1986: I haven't had a true failed print in a while due to my printer not being able to handle a part. Filament tangle has been my only issue
Jun 18, 2015 2:31 PM - Mike Kelly: last failed print i had was cause the rep2 skipped
Jun 18, 2015 2:32 PM - jbigler1986: Its a good feeling knowing i can just ket it do its thing
    Jun 18, 2015 2:34 PM - jbigler1986: I need another printer
Jun 18, 2015 2:34 PM - Mike Kelly: too bad braydon is so flakey
    Jun 18, 2015 2:34 PM - daniel871: Printed Solid has a flashforge for 500
Jun 18, 2015 2:35 PM - jbigler1986: Yeah idk what his deal is
    Jun 18, 2015 2:35 PM - daniel871: Already dual extruder setup.
Jun 18, 2015 2:36 PM - Mike Kelly: he's too busy doing interviews for top 40 CEOs under 40
Jun 18, 2015 2:36 PM - jbigler1986: Hell send me all of the parts. I will assemble it my damb self
    Jun 18, 2015 2:36 PM - daniel871: N
    Jun 18, 2015 2:37 PM - jbigler1986: Yeah. Lol
Jun 18, 2015 2:38 PM - Mike Kelly: remember that joke he made about coming here every week to get more involved in the community?
Jun 18, 2015 2:38 PM - Mike Kelly: he really had us there
Jun 18, 2015 2:38 PM - daniel871: Wish somebody had a kit for that Spider printer you could buy all at once.

Jun 18, 2015 2:38 PM - Mike Kelly: eric is definitely missing out on an opportunity there
    Jun 18, 2015 2:39 PM - jbigler1986: Maybe i should just call jerry
    Jun 18, 2015 2:40 PM - Mike Kelly: agreed
Jun 18, 2015 2:40 PM - daniel871: About $900 for the non-printed hardware, but shopping for all the individual pieces is a bunch of :effort:
Jun 18, 2015 2:40 PM - Mike Kelly: he never responded to me when i messaged him before
Jun 18, 2015 2:45 PM - daniel871: Would PET+ be a good material to use for all the printed parts for that printer?
    Jun 18, 2015 2:45 PM - Mike Kelly: yup
Jun 18, 2015 2:46 PM - daniel871: Once I get my robo working again I think I'll just print those parts for a while rather than try to do fancy models.
Jun 18, 2015 2:49 PM - daniel871: Then my only excuse for not building a Eustathios will be buying the hardware.
Jun 18, 2015 2:59 PM - Mike Glass: I emailed him about that Mike, asked him if it was just a trial or what. No response.
    Jun 18, 2015 3:00 PM - Mike Kelly: https://plus.google.com/u/1/photos/+RienStouten/albums/6161798895888326705?cfem=1 neat
    Jun 18, 2015 3:01 PM - jbigler1986: Liquid cooled. Nice
    Jun 18, 2015 3:01 PM - Mike Kelly: also neat: https://plus.google.com/u/1/100843029189377920683/posts/Xex5k1jNnjU?cfem=1
Jun 18, 2015 3:02 PM - Mike Glass: water and electronics do not mix people.
Jun 18, 2015 3:03 PM - Mike Kelly: that's why you keep them separate ;)
Jun 18, 2015 3:03 PM - JimBlue: Yes, plugging it into that connector. Powerline adapter wont work as it would interfere with my ham radio. We do plan on running ethernet out there.
Jun 18, 2015 3:04 PM - JimBlue: Pic posted in the leveling faq thread of the 3 barrels. Looking much better, but some more work to do.
    Jun 18, 2015 3:04 PM - jbigler1986: Not completely true MG
Jun 18, 2015 3:05 PM - JimBlue: I saw a rather large computer, 7 figure cost, being liquid cooled. But it was a man-made non-conducting liquid.
    Jun 18, 2015 3:05 PM - jbigler1986: [IMG]
    Jun 18, 2015 3:05 PM - JimBlue: Interesting looking aquarium. :)
    Jun 18, 2015 3:05 PM - jbigler1986: Mineral oil
Jun 18, 2015 3:05 PM - Mike Glass: well, that is not water. doh
Jun 18, 2015 3:05 PM - Mike Kelly: only problem with that is as dust collects it causes the mineral oil to become conductive
Jun 18, 2015 3:05 PM - jbigler1986: True. Thats why i said liquid cooled earlier
Jun 18, 2015 3:06 PM - JimBlue: That will hurt the fish... and that stuff will catch fire.
    Jun 18, 2015 3:06 PM - Mike Glass: lol
Jun 18, 2015 3:06 PM - Mike Kelly: JimBlue looking at your picture I think your first layer is too high and you're running hot/not enough cooling
Jun 18, 2015 3:07 PM - JimBlue: 50C on bed, 210C on nozzle. I'll check the other settings.
Jun 18, 2015 3:07 PM - jbigler1986: MK how many steppers does that use
    Jun 18, 2015 3:07 PM - Mike Kelly: https://plus.google.com/u/1/115384478098293259678/posts/imCpDvXsW4E?cfem=1 awesome
    Jun 18, 2015 3:08 PM - Mike Kelly: 3 for the X, Y, and Z
Jun 18, 2015 3:08 PM - Mike Glass: lower 5 degrees. keep doing that till it looks good.
    Jun 18, 2015 3:08 PM - JimBlue: bed or nozzle ?
Jun 18, 2015 3:08 PM - Mike Glass: sorry nozzle
    Jun 18, 2015 3:08 PM - JimBlue: k.
Jun 18, 2015 3:09 PM - Mike Glass: pla right?
Jun 18, 2015 3:09 PM - JimBlue: pla and initial layer is 0.3mm
    Jun 18, 2015 3:09 PM - jbigler1986: With .4 nozzle?
Jun 18, 2015 3:10 PM - JimBlue: yes, standard nozzle
Jun 18, 2015 3:10 PM - Mike Glass: should be fine
Jun 18, 2015 3:10 PM - jbigler1986: What layer height are you printing
Jun 18, 2015 3:11 PM - Mike Kelly: whats your z offset? have you adjusted it at all?
Jun 18, 2015 3:11 PM - JimBlue: When I went to do a second print, Cura reloaded itself, said it was a new version. Menus looked different, I had to reload default settings.
    Jun 18, 2015 3:11 PM - JimBlue: M565 Z-1.1
    Jun 18, 2015 3:11 PM - JimBlue: layer height is 0.2
Jun 18, 2015 3:12 PM - JimBlue: shell thickness is 0.4 Cura gives a warning if I change those.
    Jun 18, 2015 3:12 PM - jbigler1986: Try Z-0.9
    Jun 18, 2015 3:12 PM - JimBlue: okay.
Jun 18, 2015 3:13 PM - Mike Kelly: shell thickness just needs to be a multiple of .4
    Jun 18, 2015 3:13 PM - Mike Kelly: so .4 is 1 perimeter, .8 is 2, 1.2 is 3, etc
Jun 18, 2015 3:13 PM - JimBlue: I've changed the settings. I may not be able to check until Saturday. Okay on shell thickness, understood.
Jun 18, 2015 3:13 PM - JimBlue: check with the printer connected that is.
Jun 18, 2015 3:14 PM - JimBlue: How much electricity does this thing use ? It says 16 amps on the box. Since I have to pay my relatives for electricity used...
    Jun 18, 2015 3:15 PM - Mike Kelly: it's around 100W
Jun 18, 2015 3:15 PM - jbigler1986: Top and bottom layer you want a multiple of your layer height. So .2 layer height i would do 1mm or 1.2
Jun 18, 2015 3:15 PM - Mike Kelly: no more than 150W peak
Jun 18, 2015 3:15 PM - Mike Kelly: PLA probably uses like 80W at most
Jun 18, 2015 3:15 PM - JimBlue: That isn't much. My ham radio uses a 35 amp power supply.
Jun 18, 2015 3:15 PM - Mike Kelly: yeah it's not much at all
Jun 18, 2015 3:15 PM - Mike Kelly: like an old style lightbulb
Jun 18, 2015 3:16 PM - JimBlue: Where is top and bottom layer thickness in Cura 15 ? All I see is speed they are printed.
Jun 18, 2015 3:17 PM - Printed Solid: PLA with a cold build plate is closer to 30. barely anything.
Jun 18, 2015 3:17 PM - JimBlue: I know old light bulbs... I grew up with them.
    Jun 18, 2015 3:17 PM - Mike Kelly: Bottom/Top thickness jim
Jun 18, 2015 3:18 PM - JimBlue: well, they didn't feed me or anything. :) They were the only things around for light.
Jun 18, 2015 3:18 PM - Mike Kelly: under fill
Jun 18, 2015 3:18 PM - Mike Kelly: JIm Blue, the story of a man raised by light bulbs
Jun 18, 2015 3:18 PM - Printed Solid: lol. I was about to say most of us probably have, but then I thought about when I started using CFL.
Jun 18, 2015 3:18 PM - Printed Solid: and now, I am old.
Jun 18, 2015 3:18 PM - Printed Solid: damn you Jim!
Jun 18, 2015 3:18 PM - Mike Kelly: old is pretty relative on these forums :)
    Jun 18, 2015 3:18 PM - JimBlue: Old ? I remember before cable tv ! So there !
Jun 18, 2015 3:19 PM - Printed Solid: good point.
    Jun 18, 2015 3:19 PM - Printed Solid: I just feel old :(
Jun 18, 2015 3:19 PM - Printed Solid: it's the kids. Every year they gain, I gain 10.
Jun 18, 2015 3:19 PM - JimBlue: I'm thinking about iking up the Appalachian Trail. So much for feeling old.
    Jun 18, 2015 3:19 PM - JimBlue: hiking
    Jun 18, 2015 3:19 PM - Printed Solid: nice!
Jun 18, 2015 3:20 PM - Mike Kelly: the whole trail?
Jun 18, 2015 3:20 PM - JimBlue: The rock climbing does look good though. I'm used to a flatter terrain.
    Jun 18, 2015 3:20 PM - Printed Solid: mentality!
    Jun 18, 2015 3:20 PM - Printed Solid: ;)
Jun 18, 2015 3:20 PM - Mike Kelly: yeah whatever that means
Jun 18, 2015 3:20 PM - Printed Solid: Mike has some great climbing/bouldering
Jun 18, 2015 3:20 PM - JimBlue: Okay, I found it and it was at 2.0, changed bottom/top thickness to 1.0
Jun 18, 2015 3:21 PM - JimBlue: Due to projected cost, I may have to do it a bit at a time.
Jun 18, 2015 3:22 PM - JimBlue: From what I found, oldest person to hike most of it was 79 years. I am younger than that.
    Jun 18, 2015 3:22 PM - JimBlue: rock climbing doesn't look doog.
Jun 18, 2015 3:22 PM - Mike Kelly: keep training and do the whole thing when you turn 80 :)
    Jun 18, 2015 3:23 PM - JimBlue: good. Darn keytboarc !
    Jun 18, 2015 3:23 PM - JimBlue: auuuggghhh!
    Jun 18, 2015 3:24 PM - JimBlue: Can't even elucidate in type text anymore ! Argh !
    Jun 18, 2015 3:24 PM - JimBlue: typed text. I give up.
Jun 18, 2015 3:25 PM - JimBlue: I also printed the barrels in Matter Control. The bed must have been too cool, and lack of a wide bottom layer like I was able to get with Cura, and it wobbled about a quarter of the way through and came loose.
Jun 18, 2015 3:29 PM - JimBlue: I closed and re-opened Cura, it kept the settings you gave me. Supper time. Later.

Jun 18, 2015 4:57 PM - jbigler1986: Needs some tweaks. Just threw it together.
Jun 18, 2015 4:58 PM - donhuevo: that's the first step toward faster printing though, getting that stepper off the carriage
Jun 18, 2015 5:03 PM - Mike Glass: hey my fav colors
    Jun 18, 2015 5:03 PM - toy: cool
Jun 18, 2015 5:04 PM - toy: just get a bondtech to drive it
Jun 18, 2015 5:04 PM - Mike Kelly: nice jb
Jun 18, 2015 5:04 PM - Mike Glass: now you just need an adaptor to put it on direct drive so you can do flex
Jun 18, 2015 5:21 PM - jbigler1986: It would only tske like 20 minutes to swap back if needed
    Jun 18, 2015 5:29 PM - jbigler1986: do i need to change speed in s3d?
Jun 18, 2015 5:29 PM - jbigler1986: started out at 120 then looks like it defaulted to around 60
Jun 18, 2015 5:29 PM - jbigler1986: had to turn it up to 200% to get it back up
    Jun 18, 2015 5:34 PM - jbigler1986: Fail. Spring tension bolts weren't tight enough
Jun 18, 2015 5:45 PM - daniel871: Phew. My printed clip was still solid and it was the other original that broke.
    Jun 18, 2015 5:45 PM - daniel871: Swapped and back in business.
Jun 18, 2015 5:45 PM - daniel871: Printing that gyro keychain thing in glowfill.
    Jun 18, 2015 5:46 PM - daniel871: 100% infill for maximum glow. :p
Jun 18, 2015 5:46 PM - Bill Monroe: popcorn... peanuts.....
    Jun 18, 2015 5:47 PM - daniel871: Forgot the Tab.
Jun 18, 2015 5:47 PM - daniel871: Well, depending on whether they have that where you live.
Jun 18, 2015 5:47 PM - Bill Monroe: daniel's got the tab, a round for everyone!
    Jun 18, 2015 5:49 PM - daniel871: The original cancer causing soda.
Jun 18, 2015 5:49 PM - Bill Monroe: downer, dood...
Jun 18, 2015 5:50 PM - daniel871: Why did you go Bowden again, JB?
    Jun 18, 2015 5:51 PM - daniel871: Aw, he's gone.
Jun 18, 2015 5:51 PM - Bill Monroe: probably went to pee in your beer
    Jun 18, 2015 5:55 PM - jbigler1986: Im here
    Jun 18, 2015 5:55 PM - daniel871: Guess its a good thing I dont like beer.
Jun 18, 2015 5:55 PM - Stephen Capistron: Get out
Jun 18, 2015 5:56 PM - daniel871: All local beers taste like crap.
Jun 18, 2015 5:56 PM - daniel871: Hard liquor or wine or never mind.
Jun 18, 2015 5:58 PM - daniel871: Think Im going to blow shit up in a video game until this print is done.
Jun 18, 2015 6:02 PM - jbigler1986: I went bowden bc i could. Had the stuff so i figured why not try it
Jun 18, 2015 6:02 PM - jbigler1986: First time trying it with a correct setup
Jun 18, 2015 6:05 PM - donhuevo: am I right that you're running your stepper without any gear reduction?
    Jun 18, 2015 6:06 PM - jbigler1986: Yeah
Jun 18, 2015 6:06 PM - donhuevo: when you get printing keep an eye on the motor temp
    Jun 18, 2015 6:06 PM - jbigler1986: If i like this i may get a geared stepper
    Jun 18, 2015 6:07 PM - jbigler1986: E steps are only 169.2
    Jun 18, 2015 6:07 PM - jbigler1986: Its not working very hard
Jun 18, 2015 6:08 PM - donhuevo: the lower the steps, the harder the motor will have to work to meet demand for filament
Jun 18, 2015 6:08 PM - jbigler1986: Just felt it. Its cooler than when it was on gregs wade
    Jun 18, 2015 6:09 PM - donhuevo: alrighty then
Jun 18, 2015 6:09 PM - jbigler1986: It would get a little warm on gregs.
    Jun 18, 2015 6:09 PM - jbigler1986: No bs it felt cooler
    Jun 18, 2015 6:11 PM - donhuevo: that's good
    Jun 18, 2015 6:12 PM - jbigler1986: Does the firmware need edited
Jun 18, 2015 6:13 PM - jbigler1986: It starts at 120 where i set it then it seems to drop down to like 60. Do i need to edit something.
Jun 18, 2015 6:13 PM - Stephen Capistron: Can up the acceleration and jerk a bit
Jun 18, 2015 6:13 PM - Stephen Capistron: Might be a layer time issue in simplify
Jun 18, 2015 6:14 PM - donhuevo: yep. if you're printing something small that may be what's happening
Jun 18, 2015 6:17 PM - donhuevo: this is the direction I took for acceleration and jerk... [IMG]
    Jun 18, 2015 6:18 PM - jbigler1986: Yeah its a 25mm cube
    Jun 18, 2015 6:18 PM - donhuevo: infill?
    Jun 18, 2015 6:18 PM - jbigler1986: Yeah the infill was cruising
    Jun 18, 2015 6:18 PM - jbigler1986: So that makes sense
Jun 18, 2015 6:19 PM - jbigler1986: What would be something good to test it on
Jun 18, 2015 6:19 PM - Stephen Capistron: Gear bearing
Jun 18, 2015 6:19 PM - donhuevo: something bigger and flat like maybe the yellow j bracket on top of your new carriage
Jun 18, 2015 6:20 PM - donhuevo: that will give extended times of heightened filament demand
Jun 18, 2015 6:28 PM - daniel871: Shoot, this glowfill is printing just like regular pla in terms of clean printing.
Jun 18, 2015 6:29 PM - daniel871: 65% done with the gyro keychain somebody shared on here a few days ago.
Jun 18, 2015 6:33 PM - daniel871: Then to let it sit in the sun on the porch tomorrow and see how bright it glows tomorrow night.

Jun 18, 2015 7:03 PM - jbigler1986: Stepper was stalling a tiny bit. Going to buy a geared stepper. Do i need to get one that has the connector like the current one or one that is wired to the cores like the z
Jun 18, 2015 7:11 PM - donhuevo: You can't go wrong if they have 4 wires. If they have 6, you may have a little meter work to do to figure out which 4 to use
Jun 18, 2015 7:15 PM - jbigler1986: Well the z steppers i bought were a wiring nightmare for some reason
    Jun 18, 2015 7:16 PM - donhuevo: I think my linear z's had 6 wires
    Jun 18, 2015 7:17 PM - jbigler1986: Does polar vs bipolar matter
Jun 18, 2015 7:18 PM - donhuevo: I lied. they had 4 just unusual colors

Jun 18, 2015 7:21 PM - jbigler1986: First one is beefier for sure

Jun 18, 2015 7:42 PM - jbigler1986: Can i just throw the gearing on to the current stepper
    Jun 18, 2015 7:43 PM - donhuevo: I've never taken one apart
Jun 18, 2015 7:44 PM - jbigler1986: Just wondering. Isnt it just a gear box mounted to it? I could be completely wrong
Jun 18, 2015 7:44 PM - donhuevo: no telling what the motor shaft looks like inside the gearbox

    Jun 19, 2015 3:25 AM - daniel871: Morning.
Jun 19, 2015 3:28 AM - daniel871: Went back to JustPLA last night. Glowfill kept failing to extrude 2 hours into a print (going to try again with tighter tension on the screws over the weekend).
Jun 19, 2015 3:29 AM - daniel871: Left my printer running an Emmet Gear on high detail this morning (started it before getting ready for work).
Jun 19, 2015 3:32 AM - jbigler1986: my printer is off until i get my geared stepper tomorrow
    Jun 19, 2015 3:34 AM - Bill Monroe: morning

    Jun 19, 2015 3:56 AM - jbigler1986: How is everyone
Jun 19, 2015 4:11 AM - Bill Monroe: i'm good.. just came back from a bike ride, had to jump in the shower
    Jun 19, 2015 4:12 AM - Bill Monroe: you?
Jun 19, 2015 4:22 AM - Stephen Capistron: Going geared now?
    Jun 19, 2015 4:29 AM - jbigler1986: Yep
Jun 19, 2015 4:30 AM - jbigler1986: It was stalling/skipping a tiny bit. I like the setup and the look of it. So i want to keep it
    Jun 19, 2015 4:31 AM - jbigler1986: Stepper will be here tomorrow
Jun 19, 2015 4:31 AM - Stephen Capistron: Once you go bowden twice you never go back?
Jun 19, 2015 4:33 AM - jbigler1986: Lol. Well this is the first tike doing it with the correct parts and nothing ghetto rigged
    Jun 19, 2015 4:33 AM - jbigler1986: Time*
Jun 19, 2015 4:35 AM - jbigler1986: Bill you got the files for the printed gearing?
Jun 19, 2015 4:36 AM - jbigler1986: Interested in just trying it to see if it works. Then i would have 2 geared steppers
Jun 19, 2015 4:37 AM - Bill Monroe: I saw them but I didnt download any
Jun 19, 2015 4:39 AM - Stephen Capistron: You are going to want to use tougher filament than PLA on those
Jun 19, 2015 4:39 AM - Bill Monroe: you know me, I dont really like to print stuff other people designed.. to me, the designing is half the fun
Jun 19, 2015 4:39 AM - Stephen Capistron: colorfabb with PHA in it as a bare minimum
    Jun 19, 2015 4:39 AM - Stephen Capistron: true
    Jun 19, 2015 4:40 AM - jbigler1986: Alloy 910
Jun 19, 2015 4:40 AM - Bill Monroe: i think PLA would be fine. there's very very little stress or speed involved
    Jun 19, 2015 4:40 AM - jbigler1986: Should do the trick
Jun 19, 2015 4:42 AM - jbigler1986: Care to share yours since you said it works
Jun 19, 2015 4:42 AM - Stephen Capistron: If you had a collet on the sun gear that grabbed the shaft sure. If it is a press fit or set screw I don't know
Jun 19, 2015 4:43 AM - Bill Monroe: it would be more important that the fit is precise, especially during retractions.. honestly I doubt printed planetary gear reductions for extruders would work well enough to ge useful, unless they're so large to be too cumbersome
    Jun 19, 2015 4:44 AM - jbigler1986: Butter is better right? Lol

    Jun 19, 2015 4:48 AM - JeffTheMess: I guess I came on at a good time (bacon)
Jun 19, 2015 4:48 AM - Bill Monroe: jb is buttering his bacon so, dont look
Jun 19, 2015 4:50 AM - jbigler1986: Bacon does sound good and i am working from home this morning
    Jun 19, 2015 4:50 AM - jbigler1986: Which im almost done
Jun 19, 2015 4:50 AM - JeffTheMess: you dont put butter on bacon to make it better, you put bacon on butter to make butter better
    Jun 19, 2015 4:51 AM - Bill Monroe: <hi5>
Jun 19, 2015 4:51 AM - Bill Monroe: 2.0 doesnt want me to eat bacon

Jun 19, 2015 5:24 AM - JeffTheMess: he probably did what I did manually change the temp on the fly with changing it in the settings... they have to match in order to print (even if he set it to a higher temp)
Jun 19, 2015 5:51 AM - donhuevo: maybe he needs to brush the hobs teeth
Jun 19, 2015 5:53 AM - Stephen Capistron: Someone should design a hob sweeper using a dremel brush

    Jun 19, 2015 6:06 AM - jbigler1986: Ur fantastic
Jun 19, 2015 6:16 AM - jbigler1986: If i print at 60mm/s i can print without it stalling/skipping. Where is the fun in that though
Jun 19, 2015 6:21 AM - daniel871: I'm in the same place, jb. I don't know if I want to push for faster speeds or just be happy with getting slick-looking prints now.
Jun 19, 2015 6:22 AM - daniel871: I don't have a pic of the finished gear, but when I last looked at it before leaving the house the outside of the ring bearing and the herringbone teeth looked smooth as... well, I don't have a good word at the moment but it was almost a shiny surface finish with no print lines.
Jun 19, 2015 6:22 AM - Shank: dumb question...is the e3d bowden the same design as the direct, but the only difference is the bowden coupling?
Jun 19, 2015 6:24 AM - daniel871: I think the only real difference is you get more PTFE tubing.
    Jun 19, 2015 6:25 AM - jbigler1986: Yep i believe that is correct

Jun 19, 2015 7:30 AM - JeffTheMess: 90deg bevel gear and spool, designed it five mins with no checking, should turn out fine lol :)
    Jun 19, 2015 7:31 AM - daniel871: What is it for?
Jun 19, 2015 7:31 AM - JeffTheMess: to spool up a wire at 90deg from the motor
    Jun 19, 2015 7:33 AM - JeffTheMess: I'm no Mike K but it should work....(enough)
Jun 19, 2015 7:33 AM - Mike Kelly: if it works it works :)
Jun 19, 2015 7:35 AM - jbigler1986: Is it hard to wire up another extruder
Jun 19, 2015 7:35 AM - JeffTheMess: yeah, I decided to not to go with a box
Jun 19, 2015 7:36 AM - Mike Kelly: like for dual extruders jb?
    Jun 19, 2015 7:36 AM - jbigler1986: Yeah
Jun 19, 2015 7:36 AM - Mike Kelly: not really no
    Jun 19, 2015 7:36 AM - JeffTheMess:
Jun 19, 2015 7:36 AM - jbigler1986: Just connect it to the right spot on the board?
    Jun 19, 2015 7:36 AM - Mike Kelly: yup
    Jun 19, 2015 7:36 AM - Mike Kelly: T2, D9, and E1
Jun 19, 2015 7:37 AM - Mike Kelly: if you want a parts fan that gets more tricky but still pretty easy
Jun 19, 2015 7:37 AM - Mike Kelly: just buy a RRD fan extender
Jun 19, 2015 7:37 AM - jbigler1986: Dont plan on going dual. Just wondering
    Jun 19, 2015 7:37 AM - jbigler1986: Although 1 direct and 1 bowden is intriguing
Jun 19, 2015 7:38 AM - JeffTheMess: (I see jb going dual within the year)
Jun 19, 2015 7:38 AM - Mike Kelly: he tinkers with his printer more than i do these days
Jun 19, 2015 7:38 AM - jbigler1986: Probably more like 6 months to be honest
Jun 19, 2015 7:38 AM - Mike Kelly: i think this weekend i'm gonna go hybrid
Jun 19, 2015 7:39 AM - jbigler1986: Maybe even 2. It's not like i dont have the parts for it
    Jun 19, 2015 7:39 AM - Mike Kelly: heh
    Jun 19, 2015 7:39 AM - daniel871: [IMG]
Jun 19, 2015 7:39 AM - Mike Kelly: whoa that first layer is too low
Jun 19, 2015 7:39 AM - jbigler1986: Does your dual carriage work for hybrid or are you making a new one
    Jun 19, 2015 7:40 AM - JeffTheMess: ^
Jun 19, 2015 7:40 AM - Mike Kelly: my latest revision works with hybrid
    Jun 19, 2015 7:40 AM - jbigler1986: Yep. Probably wont spin
    Jun 19, 2015 7:40 AM - jbigler1986: The one on thingiverse
Jun 19, 2015 7:40 AM - Mike Kelly: not that one no
    Jun 19, 2015 7:40 AM - Mike Kelly: i have a later revision
    Jun 19, 2015 7:41 AM - jbigler1986: Hmmm.
    Jun 19, 2015 7:41 AM - daniel871: We'll find out when I get home. Looks shiny though.
Jun 19, 2015 7:41 AM - Mike Kelly: the one on thingiverse doesn't have the fan mounts
    Jun 19, 2015 7:41 AM - jbigler1986: Dont send it to me.
    Jun 19, 2015 7:41 AM - Mike Kelly: lol
Jun 19, 2015 7:41 AM - jbigler1986: It will make me go hybrid
    Jun 19, 2015 7:42 AM - Mike Kelly: so don't send you this? https://www.dropbox.com/s/miq1aqacae2d3ts/Main Carriage v2.1.STL?dl=0

Jun 19, 2015 7:43 AM - JeffTheMess: (jb, is scratching his neck )
Jun 19, 2015 7:43 AM - Mike Kelly: and certainly not this: https://www.dropbox.com/s/etavlbrdcye4buc/Belt binder Flat 9-30.STL?dl=0
    Jun 19, 2015 7:45 AM - Mike Kelly: and then i definitely won't design a dual e3dv6 plate either
    Jun 19, 2015 7:45 AM - jbigler1986: i have yet to click on them
    Jun 19, 2015 7:45 AM - Mike Kelly: lol
    Jun 19, 2015 7:45 AM - daniel871: Send me everything. :p
Jun 19, 2015 7:45 AM - daniel871: I'm kidding. I'm printing Eustathios stuff when not printing gadgets and toys.
    Jun 19, 2015 7:47 AM - jbigler1986: whyyyyyyyyyyyy
    Jun 19, 2015 7:47 AM - jbigler1986: that was mean

    Jun 19, 2015 7:51 AM - jbigler1986: love the transparent ptfe
Jun 19, 2015 7:52 AM - jbigler1986: that was with the 4 point autolevel too
    Jun 19, 2015 7:52 AM - JeffTheMess: beautiful
Jun 19, 2015 7:53 AM - jbigler1986: need to get the correct length of bolts so it looks better
Jun 19, 2015 7:53 AM - daniel871: Print some decorative caps to put on them.
    Jun 19, 2015 7:54 AM - jbigler1986: Ha. Not a bad idea actually

    Jun 19, 2015 7:56 AM - daniel871: Or did they change that?
    Jun 19, 2015 7:56 AM - jbigler1986: Send me a dual v6 plate and i will
    Jun 19, 2015 7:56 AM - jbigler1986: :)
    Jun 19, 2015 7:56 AM - daniel871: Dual V6 Carriage?
Jun 19, 2015 7:57 AM - Mike Kelly: what are you printing anyways jb?
Jun 19, 2015 8:03 AM - jbigler1986: Part for work. Our sister company wants some of these parts. I should just have them buy a printer
    Jun 19, 2015 8:03 AM - jbigler1986: Another $120 pocketed from my work
    Jun 19, 2015 8:06 AM - Mike Kelly: that's awesome
    Jun 19, 2015 8:08 AM - daniel871: Are any of the 10%off perks on 3dHubs worth using?
Jun 19, 2015 8:09 AM - JeffTheMess: you planning to open one?
Jun 19, 2015 8:10 AM - Mike Glass: Happy effin Friday.
    Jun 19, 2015 8:10 AM - JeffTheMess: Woo!
Jun 19, 2015 8:10 AM - daniel871: I have a hub set up and I'll take orders for things in PLA, yeah.
Jun 19, 2015 8:11 AM - jbigler1986: I dont have time for it. I printed parts for 1 person and it was more of a hassle than what it's worth unless you chsrge a lot more
Jun 19, 2015 8:11 AM - JeffTheMess: how many hubs are around you?
    Jun 19, 2015 8:11 AM - daniel871: None within about 40 miles.
Jun 19, 2015 8:12 AM - JeffTheMess: you can charge a premium rate with that much space around you
Jun 19, 2015 8:13 AM - daniel871: That's why I just left their $.50/cm3 alone instead of adjusting it down like jb did.
Jun 19, 2015 8:13 AM - daniel871: The next nearest ones did the same thing though.
    Jun 19, 2015 8:14 AM - jbigler1986: Yeah there are like 10 around me
Jun 19, 2015 8:15 AM - JeffTheMess: for dan, you can jack it up a bit,for JB it makes sense to shorten that price to better compete with his surroundings
Jun 19, 2015 8:17 AM - daniel871: Holy shit, the Colorfabb value packs look expensive for 8 rolls.
    Jun 19, 2015 8:18 AM - daniel871: $400 for PLA and $600 for XT
Jun 19, 2015 8:18 AM - jbigler1986: MK are you for real going to make a plate for that
    Jun 19, 2015 8:18 AM - JeffTheMess: lol
Jun 19, 2015 8:19 AM - Stephen Capistron: that doesn't make sense. their pla is $40/roll
    Jun 19, 2015 8:19 AM - daniel871: Wait, it's even worse, that's in Euros not Dollars.
    Jun 19, 2015 8:19 AM - daniel871: http://colorfabb.com/value-pack-165
    Jun 19, 2015 8:19 AM - daniel871: 16 spools on the actual page, sorry.
    Jun 19, 2015 8:20 AM - daniel871: The thumnail showed a box with 8.
    Jun 19, 2015 8:20 AM - daniel871: That's better I guess.
Jun 19, 2015 8:21 AM - daniel871: So now I'm trying to decide whether I want to do that or not. Also how many of what colors/fills to get.
Jun 19, 2015 8:22 AM - JeffTheMess: i'd say get white/grey and then paint it
Jun 19, 2015 8:22 AM - Mike Kelly: i'm gonna look into it JB
Jun 19, 2015 8:25 AM - Mike Kelly: wish i could drop 605 on the XT value pack
Jun 19, 2015 8:25 AM - Stephen Capistron: that would be tough to sneak past the better half
Jun 19, 2015 8:25 AM - Mike Kelly: yeah she would not be happy
Jun 19, 2015 8:25 AM - Stephen Capistron: you get to pick the colors
    Jun 19, 2015 8:26 AM - Mike Glass: its a business expense:)
Jun 19, 2015 8:26 AM - daniel871: Does XT print well or is it a pain to get right?
Jun 19, 2015 8:26 AM - Mike Kelly: depends who you ask
Jun 19, 2015 8:26 AM - Mike Kelly: mike hates it
Jun 19, 2015 8:30 AM - Mike Glass: well the white for sure is a pain in the ass, but too expsensive, I rather spend it on PETG and save.
Jun 19, 2015 8:31 AM - Mike Glass: it does work great for my weed wacker.
Jun 19, 2015 8:31 AM - Mike Kelly: yeah they really need to drop the price of _XT
    Jun 19, 2015 8:34 AM - JeffTheMess: XT=eXtra Tokens
Jun 19, 2015 8:35 AM - daniel871: So stick with PLA/PHA for the value pack, or is it still cheaper to buy a bunch of JustPLA rolls?
Jun 19, 2015 8:35 AM - Mike Kelly: just PLA is way cheaper
Jun 19, 2015 8:37 AM - daniel871: So back to still not seeing any need for the 3dHubs coupons.
    Jun 19, 2015 8:37 AM - daniel871: 10% off Protopasta?
Jun 19, 2015 8:38 AM - daniel871: The one roll of SST filament I got from them gave me no end of clogs, but I haven't tried it on the volcano yet.
Jun 19, 2015 8:38 AM - Stephen Capistron: The PLA/PHA is a little tougher than regular old PLA
Jun 19, 2015 8:38 AM - Mike Glass: I think you have to go super slow with that
Jun 19, 2015 8:39 AM - Mike Kelly: this is one nice vehicle
Jun 19, 2015 8:39 AM - Stephen Capistron: look ma, no hands
Jun 19, 2015 8:40 AM - daniel871: Is that the autopilot car by Tesla again?
    Jun 19, 2015 8:40 AM - daniel871: Haven't clicked.
Jun 19, 2015 8:40 AM - daniel871: Read too much into the "no hands" thing.
Jun 19, 2015 8:41 AM - Mike Kelly: he was just showing how stable the car is while going from 0-180mph in 11 seconds
Jun 19, 2015 8:46 AM - Stephen Capistron: nope. Something way faster than a tesla
    Jun 19, 2015 8:47 AM - daniel871: Man, I really don't want to be at work today.
    Jun 19, 2015 8:47 AM - JeffTheMess: ^
Jun 19, 2015 8:47 AM - JeffTheMess: yeah, to nice outside
Jun 19, 2015 8:49 AM - Stephen Capistron: Someone scheduled a client meeting i have to be in on for a Friday afternoon. Who does that?
Jun 19, 2015 8:49 AM - JeffTheMess: shame shame shame
Jun 19, 2015 8:56 AM - daniel871: Leftover pressure-cooker chili for lunch today. Everyone is going to pay for my having to work today.
    Jun 19, 2015 8:56 AM - daniel871: :p

    Jun 19, 2015 9:11 AM - jbigler1986: Looking to see if i can find a dual v6 plate. Ugh
Jun 19, 2015 9:12 AM - Mike Kelly: lol lemme just design something for you
Jun 19, 2015 9:12 AM - Mike Kelly: need to tweak a few things though so don't print anything yet :)
    Jun 19, 2015 9:13 AM - jbigler1986: K
Jun 19, 2015 9:13 AM - jbigler1986: Current print is going to take a few hours anyways
Jun 19, 2015 9:14 AM - jbigler1986: Need to add some cable holders to the top of my case. Cable is just dangling
Jun 19, 2015 9:14 AM - JeffTheMess: good ol' Mike always coming through
Jun 19, 2015 9:17 AM - jbigler1986: Yep. Although i got the bowden qnd direct drive without him. Believe it or not
    Jun 19, 2015 9:18 AM - JeffTheMess:  ...no, I believe it
Jun 19, 2015 9:21 AM - Mike Kelly: omg people who take pictures of their monitor
    Jun 19, 2015 9:21 AM - jbigler1986: Snipping tool for the win
Jun 19, 2015 9:24 AM - daniel871: Most people don't know about the Snipping tool and pay money for a program that takes screenshots.
    Jun 19, 2015 9:24 AM - daniel871: Crazy.
Jun 19, 2015 9:24 AM - daniel871: Also, proof that Arnold is a cool dude even if his politics are weird.
    Jun 19, 2015 9:25 AM - daniel871: LOL at the 1:00 mark.
Jun 19, 2015 9:28 AM - Mike Kelly: he seems like a character
    Jun 19, 2015 9:40 AM - jbigler1986: He seems like a good guy
Jun 19, 2015 9:46 AM - jbigler1986: Mk can you pm me the dual stuff since i may not be paying attention to the chat
Jun 19, 2015 9:50 AM - Mike Kelly: yeah i will once i get something done
Jun 19, 2015 9:57 AM - Mike Kelly: jb whats your opinion on losing x travel
Jun 19, 2015 9:57 AM - Mike Kelly: i believe it's possible to cool both v6 heatsinks with a 40mm fan but fitting it might be a challenge
    Jun 19, 2015 10:10 AM - daniel871: Could've sworn I'd seen a dual E3D mount for the Robo before.

    Jun 19, 2015 10:12 AM - daniel871: Would your modular X-carriage not work?
Jun 19, 2015 10:14 AM - daniel871: You have a Dual Bowden that says it won't work for the v6 and to use that instead.
    Jun 19, 2015 10:14 AM - daniel871: http://www.thingiverse.com/thing:681916
Jun 19, 2015 10:15 AM - Mike Kelly: my old modular carriage will work just fine
Jun 19, 2015 10:15 AM - Mike Kelly: but if he wants v2 I need to tweak some things
Jun 19, 2015 10:18 AM - Mike Kelly: Mike G i think we should just order those linear steppers from robotdigg
Jun 19, 2015 10:19 AM - daniel871: Is the modular x carriage in that Robo3d solidworks file pile?
Jun 19, 2015 10:19 AM - Mike Kelly: man that guy on SA is helpless
    Jun 19, 2015 10:19 AM - Mike Kelly: nope
Jun 19, 2015 10:19 AM - daniel871: The one that gave up on the Robo?
    Jun 19, 2015 10:20 AM - daniel871: "I want a $700 printer to run like a $5,000 printer"
    Jun 19, 2015 10:21 AM - Mike Kelly: commie
    Jun 19, 2015 10:21 AM - daniel871: Yeah.
Jun 19, 2015 10:23 AM - daniel871: Thing is, I'm not entirely sure what he's doing wrong because "it'll work for a bit, then cut loose from the bed" tells me something is either wrong with the program or the bed is shutting off after the first few layers or something.
Jun 19, 2015 10:23 AM - Mike Kelly: guaranteed it's his first layer
Jun 19, 2015 10:24 AM - Mike Kelly: he's probably also using mattercontrol
    Jun 19, 2015 10:25 AM - JeffTheMess: good ol' MC -_-, I don't miss it
Jun 19, 2015 10:25 AM - daniel871: He claims the first layer goes down okay, with tall prints failing and sliding around after the printer has run for a while.
Jun 19, 2015 10:25 AM - Mike Kelly: he probably has no idea
Jun 19, 2015 10:26 AM - Mike Kelly: MC: "Yo dawg, I saw you already ran autolevel last print, so I'm not gonna do it this print" *Prints in air*
    Jun 19, 2015 10:27 AM - JeffTheMess: lol YES! i remember those
    Jun 19, 2015 10:27 AM - daniel871: I'm so glad I sprung for S3D, I tell you what.
Jun 19, 2015 10:28 AM - daniel871: I've had zero trouble with the actual programs other than figuring out best extrusion/bed temp combinations.
    Jun 19, 2015 10:29 AM - JeffTheMess: ^
Jun 19, 2015 10:29 AM - Mike Kelly: i don't understand why some people have it not extrude filament
    Jun 19, 2015 10:29 AM - daniel871: Improper priming of the nozzle, I'd wager.
Jun 19, 2015 10:30 AM - daniel871: I probably waste 20mm of filament, clean the nozzle and retract 4mm as it cools down to eliminate dripping on each new spool I load.
Jun 19, 2015 10:31 AM - Mike Kelly: i just let it prime in the perimeters
Jun 19, 2015 10:32 AM - Mike Kelly: i'm really tempted to buy the fallout games on steam sale
Jun 19, 2015 10:33 AM - Mike Kelly: also goat simulator for 2.50
Jun 19, 2015 10:35 AM - Mike Kelly: and done, damn you steam summer sales
Jun 19, 2015 10:40 AM - daniel871: I already had 3 and New Vegas. Guess I'll get Goat Simulator though.
    Jun 19, 2015 10:41 AM - daniel871: GoatZ, lol.
Jun 19, 2015 10:42 AM - Mike Kelly: yeah i have 3 on the 360 but i wanted the GOTY edition
Jun 19, 2015 10:57 AM - daniel871: The New Vegas DLC for the Big MT was pretty funny.
Jun 19, 2015 10:58 AM - daniel871: Guy that voiced Dr. Venture ranting about nobody appreciating his inventions and referencing the Walking Eye.
Jun 19, 2015 10:59 AM - Mike Kelly: love it
Jun 19, 2015 11:02 AM - daniel871: Each of the scientists was voiced by somebody that did some science-related character work elsewhere, but he was the only one I recognized.
    Jun 19, 2015 11:02 AM - Mike Kelly: gotcha
Jun 19, 2015 11:03 AM - Mike Glass: did you get fallout 4
Jun 19, 2015 11:07 AM - Mike Kelly: i might when it comes out
Jun 19, 2015 11:07 AM - Mike Kelly: got a lot of games coming this fall
Jun 19, 2015 11:09 AM - JeffTheMess: here i thought no one here plays games
Jun 19, 2015 11:09 AM - Mike Glass: is New Vegas good?
Jun 19, 2015 11:09 AM - Mike Kelly: not nearly as much as i did before my 3d printing
Jun 19, 2015 11:09 AM - Mike Kelly: i hear NV is very good
    Jun 19, 2015 11:09 AM - Mike Glass: I mostly play BF4
Jun 19, 2015 11:10 AM - Mike Glass: seems pretty cheap
Jun 19, 2015 11:13 AM - Mike Glass: matt Perry, funny
    Jun 19, 2015 11:15 AM - jbigler1986: MK i dont really care about losing a little x
Jun 19, 2015 11:15 AM - Mike Kelly: ok cool
    Jun 19, 2015 11:15 AM - jbigler1986: Y is big enough to oriante parts
Jun 19, 2015 11:15 AM - Mike Glass: even with a little se
Jun 19, 2015 11:16 AM - jbigler1986: Figured i would lose some x travel going dual no matter what
Jun 19, 2015 11:17 AM - Mike Kelly: i actually gained some tbh
Jun 19, 2015 11:17 AM - Mike Kelly: my carriage is only 50mm wide
    Jun 19, 2015 11:17 AM - Mike Kelly: i get like 230mm
Jun 19, 2015 11:17 AM - jbigler1986: Oh. Well whatever you figure out
Jun 19, 2015 11:17 AM - Mike Kelly: yeah i'll play with it
Jun 19, 2015 11:17 AM - Mike Kelly: might need to revise the design in some significant ways
    Jun 19, 2015 11:17 AM - jbigler1986: That's what she said
    Jun 19, 2015 11:19 AM - JeffTheMess: boom
Jun 19, 2015 11:21 AM - jbigler1986: Ha. Just realized i still have UP! software on my computer from the UP mini
Jun 19, 2015 11:27 AM - Shank: i have a couple questions about the firmware is someone has the time to help
Jun 19, 2015 11:28 AM - daniel871: RE: New Vegas - It's amazingly good, though a little dated by now in terms of story and AI behavior.
Jun 19, 2015 11:29 AM - daniel871: People like to use the Pickpocket skill to put remote bombs on people and then watch the carnage when they detonate the bomb later.
Jun 19, 2015 11:29 AM - daniel871: Because why not be a monster of the wasteland in a post-apocalypse game.
Jun 19, 2015 11:30 AM - Mike Glass: its newer then fallout 3 correct?
    Jun 19, 2015 11:30 AM - daniel871: Yes.
Jun 19, 2015 11:30 AM - daniel871: But they came out fairly close to each other.
    Jun 19, 2015 11:31 AM - daniel871: 3 was 2008, New Vegas was 2010.
    Jun 19, 2015 11:31 AM - daniel871: Holy crap five years ago.
Jun 19, 2015 11:32 AM - Mike Glass: yea, I saw that, how time flies
    Jun 19, 2015 11:32 AM - Mike Glass: of fly's
    Jun 19, 2015 11:32 AM - daniel871: Bloat Flies.
Jun 19, 2015 11:32 AM - daniel871: The Legendary Beasts in New Vegas were funny sometimes.
Jun 19, 2015 11:33 AM - JeffTheMess: lord of the flies?
Jun 19, 2015 11:33 AM - daniel871: Getting one-shotted by the Legendary Bloat Fly at level 30 caused a lot of rage.
Jun 19, 2015 11:33 AM - daniel871: (To say nothing of the Legendary Death Claw)
    Jun 19, 2015 11:38 AM - jbigler1986: @Shank what do you want to know
Jun 19, 2015 11:38 AM - daniel871: This happened one time while wandering around with an NPC ally. http://i.imgur.com/kqL8XuL.jpg
Jun 19, 2015 11:40 AM - Shank: i want the printer to think it is a dual extruder but only have one extruder location almost like if you had the cyclops in
    Jun 19, 2015 11:41 AM - jbigler1986: May i ask why
Jun 19, 2015 11:41 AM - Mike Glass: So do you have to pay for a steam membership to play these games.
    Jun 19, 2015 11:42 AM - jbigler1986: Anyone know where i can get a mk8 drive gear overnighted?
    Jun 19, 2015 11:42 AM - Shank: a extruder design i wanna try
Jun 19, 2015 11:42 AM - JeffTheMess: doesn't make sense to do that
Jun 19, 2015 11:43 AM - daniel871: No. Steam makes it's money just selling the games.
Jun 19, 2015 11:44 AM - daniel871: And it makes it hand over fist by basically dominating PC game distribution right now.
Jun 19, 2015 11:44 AM - Shank: i also need the program to retract the filament x amount then switch to a different stepper motor and run that one as the extruder
Jun 19, 2015 11:46 AM - jbigler1986: Trying to figure out what you are teying to do. Going dual color?
    Jun 19, 2015 11:47 AM - Shank: Yes
Jun 19, 2015 11:47 AM - daniel871: Hey, remember the filament sensor we were talking about earlier this week? I'm thinking this would handle what I'd want to do since the only filament problem I've had has been running out. http://community.robo3d.com/index.php?threads/filament-monitor.3335/page-2#post-42914
    Jun 19, 2015 11:47 AM - jbigler1986: I would just buy the cylops
    Jun 19, 2015 11:48 AM - jbigler1986: I forgot ziggy made that
    Jun 19, 2015 11:48 AM - Mike Kelly: jb: http://www.purduesports.com/sports/m-footbl/spec-rel/061915aab.html
Jun 19, 2015 11:48 AM - Shank: id still need to change the firmware
Jun 19, 2015 11:48 AM - Mike Kelly: now i need wes welker or crabree to do that
Jun 19, 2015 11:51 AM - jbigler1986: No student fees or state support will be utilized.

Jun 19, 2015 11:52 AM - Mike Kelly: i bet that was his thought as well
Jun 19, 2015 11:52 AM - Mike Kelly: you're in a good conference so yeah
Jun 19, 2015 11:53 AM - jbigler1986: Yeah our conference is awesome. We get adding teams too
    Jun 19, 2015 11:53 AM - jbigler1986: Keep
Jun 19, 2015 11:53 AM - Mike Kelly: the big12 really needs to get back to 12 teams
    Jun 19, 2015 11:54 AM - jbigler1986: We have 14 now. Getting a little crazy
    Jun 19, 2015 11:57 AM - jbigler1986: [IMG]
Jun 19, 2015 11:57 AM - Mike Kelly: nice and hairy

Jun 19, 2015 11:57 AM - jbigler1986: Part looks beautiful though. Even with this damn yellow
Jun 19, 2015 12:09 PM - Mike Kelly: you ok with buying some hardware?
Jun 19, 2015 12:12 PM - daniel871: Jesus Christ that guy on SA is crazy.
Jun 19, 2015 12:12 PM - daniel871: He just said Cura can't print anything well.
Jun 19, 2015 12:13 PM - Mike Kelly: he probably has a bad driver installed
    Jun 19, 2015 12:14 PM - jbigler1986: Me mk?
Jun 19, 2015 12:15 PM - jbigler1986: If so what kind of hardware we talking
Jun 19, 2015 12:15 PM - Mike Kelly: need some M3 flat head screws, >16mm
Jun 19, 2015 12:16 PM - Mike Kelly: some springs, though you could probably just print something to serve the same function
    Jun 19, 2015 12:16 PM - Mike Kelly: m3 nut and m3 nylok
    Jun 19, 2015 12:17 PM - jbigler1986: Yeah. I have a bunch of m3 nuts and bolts
    Jun 19, 2015 12:18 PM - Mike Kelly: you'll need 2 m3 - 50mm screws
Jun 19, 2015 12:21 PM - jbigler1986: Hmmm. Does ace have them that long
    Jun 19, 2015 12:22 PM - Mike Kelly: i got a pair there yes
    Jun 19, 2015 12:22 PM - jbigler1986: Ol
    Jun 19, 2015 12:22 PM - jbigler1986: Ok. Give me a list qnd i will get it
    Jun 19, 2015 12:31 PM - daniel871: Really? Http://www.thingiverse.com/thing:888862
    Jun 19, 2015 12:33 PM - Mike Kelly: wow
Jun 19, 2015 12:38 PM - daniel871: What's worse, that I'm not really surprised that is there, or that I'm wondering what filament would be safe to do something like that with anyway?
Jun 19, 2015 12:39 PM - JeffTheMess: talk to jb he should know lol he wanted to start a business lol
    Jun 19, 2015 12:41 PM - Mike Kelly: abs
    Jun 19, 2015 12:41 PM - Mike Kelly: well

Jun 19, 2015 12:45 PM - Mike Glass: haha that video..
Jun 19, 2015 12:47 PM - Mike Kelly: oh it's for the milk
    Jun 19, 2015 12:48 PM - Mike Kelly: i should read more
Jun 19, 2015 12:48 PM - jbigler1986: MK csn you pm all hardware needed por favor
Jun 19, 2015 12:48 PM - Mike Kelly: yeah ok
Jun 19, 2015 12:48 PM - Mike Kelly: jb do you have any 25mm fans
    Jun 19, 2015 12:48 PM - jbigler1986: Stock hex one
    Jun 19, 2015 12:49 PM - jbigler1986: I can get a couple from frys if needed
    Jun 19, 2015 12:49 PM - Mike Kelly: ok cause i can't really fit 2x 30mm
    Jun 19, 2015 12:51 PM - jbigler1986: No biggie. I can grab a few
Jun 19, 2015 12:52 PM - Mike Kelly: if i make a 40mm then i'd need to add some sort of shroud to direct flow
    Jun 19, 2015 12:53 PM - jbigler1986: 25mm are fine
Jun 19, 2015 12:53 PM - jbigler1986: Add it to the pm so i dont forget. I have a shitty memory
Jun 19, 2015 1:00 PM - daniel871: Thingiverse needs a "Random Thing" button like the "Random Comic" button on webcomic sites.
Jun 19, 2015 1:01 PM - Mike Glass: Why not use these [IMG]
Jun 19, 2015 1:03 PM - Mike Glass: They use these on the Spider V2
    Jun 19, 2015 1:04 PM - jbigler1986: Fail on the pic
Jun 19, 2015 1:05 PM - Mike Kelly: it's hard to fit those
Jun 19, 2015 1:05 PM - Mike Kelly: especially if he's going hybrid
    Jun 19, 2015 1:05 PM - daniel871: LOL http://www.thingiverse.com/thing:888183
Jun 19, 2015 1:07 PM - Mike Glass: mount on top
Jun 19, 2015 1:08 PM - Mike Glass: Ok yea, are people really going to wear plastic rings
    Jun 19, 2015 1:08 PM - daniel871: Bronzefill?
Jun 19, 2015 1:08 PM - daniel871: There is that "The One Ring" thing.
Jun 19, 2015 1:10 PM - Mike Glass: I dont think bronze against the skin is a good idea
    Jun 19, 2015 1:10 PM - jbigler1986: Going to be 2 fans or 4 fans MK
Jun 19, 2015 1:11 PM - Mike Glass: hell make it 6, then the air pressure will make it lighter
    Jun 19, 2015 1:11 PM - jbigler1986: Now we are talking
    Jun 19, 2015 1:11 PM - jbigler1986: Hover printer
    Jun 19, 2015 1:11 PM - Mike Kelly: there's 2 40mm and 2 25mm
Jun 19, 2015 1:11 PM - Mike Glass: hope you used the helium injected Lm8uu bearings
Jun 19, 2015 1:13 PM - jbigler1986: Interesting. Hopefully i will be able to get it done by the end of the weekend
Jun 19, 2015 1:13 PM - Mike Glass: dude, you just need to get another printer.
Jun 19, 2015 1:16 PM - daniel871: Are you going to let me build and start using a Eustathios Spider before you, jb?
    Jun 19, 2015 1:17 PM - jbigler1986: Probably
Jun 19, 2015 1:17 PM - Mike Glass: Im printing parts this weekend for mine.
Jun 19, 2015 1:19 PM - jbigler1986: If Braydon would have responded a while ago i would have another one
    Jun 19, 2015 1:20 PM - toy: 2/5 classes complete....i think i got funding for a 3d scanner... what should i get?
Jun 19, 2015 1:20 PM - daniel871: I've got two spools of black PET+ to use for it, think it'll be enough?
    Jun 19, 2015 1:20 PM - daniel871: :p
Jun 19, 2015 1:20 PM - Mike Glass: he disappeared, which means two things, he dont care, or they are in negotiations to sell
Jun 19, 2015 1:21 PM - Mike Glass: 2 should be more then enough
Jun 19, 2015 1:21 PM - Mike Glass: Well depending on the size of the roll
Jun 19, 2015 1:22 PM - Mike Glass: I blew through 2 rolls on my cnc, but had one failure.
    Jun 19, 2015 1:22 PM - Mike Glass: so almost 4 lbs
Jun 19, 2015 1:23 PM - jbigler1986: If im going to build one it wont have 3d printed parts. I want it to be able to have a heated chamber for ABfnS
Jun 19, 2015 1:25 PM - daniel871: Pretty sure the electronics will begin to fail if the ambient temperature will melt PET+ after it's been printed.
Jun 19, 2015 1:25 PM - daniel871: A simple insulated chamber should work just fine, right?
Jun 19, 2015 1:25 PM - daniel871: (keep cooling drafts from hitting it, etc.)?
    Jun 19, 2015 1:25 PM - toy: jb , u gonan build a printer?
Jun 19, 2015 1:26 PM - Mike Glass: He already did
Jun 19, 2015 1:26 PM - toy: my metal robo out prints my robo printer in speed and quality
Jun 19, 2015 1:26 PM - Mike Glass: Several times over
Jun 19, 2015 1:27 PM - Mike Glass: I would hope so, with what you had spent
Jun 19, 2015 1:27 PM - toy: i think the best feature of my metal robo ... is tsk mini linear rail on the x
Jun 19, 2015 1:28 PM - daniel871: Did you increase the actual print area at all?
    Jun 19, 2015 1:28 PM - toy: yes
Jun 19, 2015 1:28 PM - Mike Glass: yea that is cool
Jun 19, 2015 1:28 PM - toy: i can print on the entire bed
    Jun 19, 2015 1:28 PM - daniel871: Oh.
Jun 19, 2015 1:28 PM - toy: from edge to edge
    Jun 19, 2015 1:28 PM - jbigler1986: Yeah i will build one some day.
Jun 19, 2015 1:28 PM - daniel871: What are the print dimensions for the Eustathios Spider again?
Jun 19, 2015 1:28 PM - Mike Glass: you just need a alum bed.

Jun 19, 2015 1:29 PM - Mike Glass: spider is any size you make it
Jun 19, 2015 1:29 PM - toy: i got the tsk rail for 150$ new without the orginal packaging
Jun 19, 2015 1:29 PM - toy: which is a really good deal
Jun 19, 2015 1:30 PM - toy: if u want to build a badass printer make the y-axis a linear acuator
    Jun 19, 2015 1:30 PM - daniel871: I think the V2 plans I downloaded are for a 38" cube.
Jun 19, 2015 1:30 PM - toy: it will save u alot of headaches
Jun 19, 2015 1:30 PM - daniel871: But not sure about the actual print area inside that.
Jun 19, 2015 1:31 PM - toy: and with my 8020 frame... it will be super easy to make a heated build chamber
Jun 19, 2015 1:32 PM - toy: hmmm which makes me wonder if the ramps can even support a build chamber
Jun 19, 2015 1:33 PM - Mike Glass: what would ramps have to do with a build chamber?
Jun 19, 2015 1:34 PM - toy: say u wanted a heated bed and build chamber... and u wanted it software controlled ...maybe
Jun 19, 2015 1:37 PM - Stephen Capistron: My chamber is just made of project foam
Jun 19, 2015 1:37 PM - Stephen Capistron: works fine
Jun 19, 2015 1:37 PM - Stephen Capistron: Not pretty
    Jun 19, 2015 1:38 PM - Mike Glass: Think its 12x12x11 Daniel
    Jun 19, 2015 1:38 PM - toy: stephen u have a pic?
Jun 19, 2015 1:38 PM - jbigler1986: Im talking actually heating it SC
    Jun 19, 2015 1:39 PM - jbigler1986: Like controlling the temperature
Jun 19, 2015 1:40 PM - jbigler1986: Not just heating it by up with the bed/hotend heat
    Jun 19, 2015 1:40 PM - jbigler1986: Wow my grammar sucks today
Jun 19, 2015 1:40 PM - toy: heated chambers sound somehwat expensive to run... imagine running 250C chamber for 10+ hours a day lol
Jun 19, 2015 1:41 PM - Mike Glass: A reptile heater works good I hear
Jun 19, 2015 1:41 PM - Mike Glass: My power bill is high enought with just normal usage of the printer.
    Jun 19, 2015 1:41 PM - toy: same
Jun 19, 2015 1:42 PM - Stephen Capistron: You only need to get the air temp up to 50-60C
Jun 19, 2015 1:42 PM - Mike Glass: and running the cnc all weekend
Jun 19, 2015 1:42 PM - Stephen Capistron: any hotter and the steppers will get real angry
Jun 19, 2015 1:42 PM - jbigler1986: I would rarely run the heaters. It would be nice to have the option
Jun 19, 2015 1:42 PM - toy: hmm insulate the steppers?
Jun 19, 2015 1:42 PM - Mike Glass: thats true, you steppers would crap out before your pla parts would
    Jun 19, 2015 1:43 PM - jbigler1986: Liquid cool everything
    Jun 19, 2015 1:43 PM - toy: ah
Jun 19, 2015 1:43 PM - jbigler1986: Woupd end up being a very expensive printer.
Jun 19, 2015 1:43 PM - toy: liquid coooled steppers
    Jun 19, 2015 1:43 PM - Stephen Capistron: right
Jun 19, 2015 1:43 PM - Mike Kelly: liquid cooling ftw
Jun 19, 2015 1:43 PM - Stephen Capistron: i thought we prefer mineral oil cooling
Jun 19, 2015 1:44 PM - Mike Kelly: oh right
Jun 19, 2015 1:44 PM - jbigler1986: Enclose enverything except the build platform and hotend
Jun 19, 2015 1:45 PM - jbigler1986: How is the design going MK
Jun 19, 2015 1:45 PM - Mike Kelly: it's coming along, need to work for a bit then i'll play with it some more
Jun 19, 2015 1:45 PM - toy: time to order another bondtech... fu ezstruder
Jun 19, 2015 1:46 PM - jbigler1986: Easy way to calibrate extruder for bowden
    Jun 19, 2015 1:46 PM - jbigler1986: ?
Jun 19, 2015 1:46 PM - toy: oh MK,, i have a question for ya
    Jun 19, 2015 1:47 PM - Mike Kelly: sure
Jun 19, 2015 1:47 PM - toy: what your steps per unit for bondtechs?
    Jun 19, 2015 1:48 PM - Stephen Capistron: [IMG]
    Jun 19, 2015 1:48 PM - jbigler1986: Is that a mini fridge?
Jun 19, 2015 1:48 PM - toy: nice, i like the wrench spool holder
    Jun 19, 2015 1:49 PM - Stephen Capistron: 1/2" breaker bar :D
Jun 19, 2015 1:49 PM - toy: ahh... im using a super long file / clamp
    Jun 19, 2015 1:49 PM - jbigler1986: I went pretty for mine
Jun 19, 2015 1:49 PM - Stephen Capistron: I got a piece of 1/2 or 3/4" pvc the other day so I can take my bar back
    Jun 19, 2015 1:50 PM - jbigler1986: [IMG]
Jun 19, 2015 1:50 PM - jbigler1986: In case you didnt see it toy
    Jun 19, 2015 1:51 PM - toy: oh wow
    Jun 19, 2015 1:51 PM - toy: looks like u need a bondtech as well =)
    Jun 19, 2015 1:51 PM - jbigler1986: Got a geared stepper coming tomorrow
Jun 19, 2015 1:52 PM - jbigler1986: This works fine if i run slow. But whats the point of bowden then
Jun 19, 2015 1:52 PM - toy: dont waste your money on a ezstruder
Jun 19, 2015 1:52 PM - toy: unless u want to buy my old one
    Jun 19, 2015 1:52 PM - jbigler1986: This extruder works perfectly
Jun 19, 2015 1:54 PM - toy: lol... with all my spare/scrap parts i could probably make anohter cheap printer
Jun 19, 2015 1:54 PM - toy: i still have my old drawer rails hat came with my beta robo
Jun 19, 2015 1:55 PM - Mike Kelly: heh yeah i got those floating around somewhere
Jun 19, 2015 1:55 PM - toy: damn those things sucked bad
Jun 19, 2015 1:57 PM - Mike Glass: are they really drawer slides?
    Jun 19, 2015 1:59 PM - Mike Kelly: yup
    Jun 19, 2015 1:59 PM - Mike Glass: mounted horizontal.(FAIL)
Jun 19, 2015 2:01 PM - Mike Kelly: yeah it was a poor choice
Jun 19, 2015 2:02 PM - Stephen Capistron: so was milk
Jun 19, 2015 2:08 PM - toy: so bad... when the slides where fully extended the bed dropped off almost 1/8"
Jun 19, 2015 2:09 PM - Stephen Capistron: thats why you need autolevel right?
    Jun 19, 2015 2:09 PM - toy: auto what?
Jun 19, 2015 2:09 PM - Mike Kelly: nope those were manual
Jun 19, 2015 2:10 PM - toy: those where the fun days... not
Jun 19, 2015 2:12 PM - Mike Glass: so the spider uses 10mm I was thinking 12, do you think that is overkill or for the 20" I would need it?
Jun 19, 2015 2:12 PM - toy: ive had a new problem lately.... sometimes when laying down the 2nd layer ( solid layer) i get little waves that pop up
Jun 19, 2015 2:13 PM - Mike Glass: over extrusion?
Jun 19, 2015 2:13 PM - Stephen Capistron: filament coming out too hot?
    Jun 19, 2015 2:14 PM - toy: printing at 200C ( pla)
Jun 19, 2015 2:14 PM - Mike Glass: maybe even ooo hot.
    Jun 19, 2015 2:14 PM - Stephen Capistron: volcano?
    Jun 19, 2015 2:14 PM - toy: v6
Jun 19, 2015 2:15 PM - toy: and it only started recently
    Jun 19, 2015 2:15 PM - Mike Kelly: Toy btw, 475 steps
Jun 19, 2015 2:15 PM - toy: i havent changed any of my setting
Jun 19, 2015 2:15 PM - toy: i was thinking i might have a slight draft with my garage partially open.......
Jun 19, 2015 2:16 PM - Mike Kelly: sounds like you need a safety enclosure...
Jun 19, 2015 2:17 PM - toy: which might not be a bad idea... sense these kids like to stick their finger into the machine
Jun 19, 2015 2:18 PM - Stephen Capistron: A draft with PLA would be a good thing
Jun 19, 2015 2:21 PM - toy: and it only happens on the 2nd layer (solid layer )
Jun 19, 2015 2:22 PM - toy: i have to use my finger and push the line back downb because it want to curl up
Jun 19, 2015 2:24 PM - Mike Glass: your not printing on glass though right?
    Jun 19, 2015 2:24 PM - toy: heated bed... 40C
Jun 19, 2015 2:24 PM - toy: glass on the robo
Jun 19, 2015 2:25 PM - Mike Glass: oh this is on your robo?
Jun 19, 2015 2:25 PM - Mike Glass: crank it up to 60C see what happens
    Jun 19, 2015 2:26 PM - toy: yeah

Jun 19, 2015 2:28 PM - toy: i have a feeling a kid did something to my robo when i wasnt looking =\
    Jun 19, 2015 2:30 PM - toy: http://imgur.com/gauhjSi
Jun 19, 2015 2:30 PM - toy: u can see the ripples in the 2nd layer as it hardened
    Jun 19, 2015 2:31 PM - Mike Glass: delamination
Jun 19, 2015 2:32 PM - Mike Glass: I had that issue with one of my filaments, just turn up the heat
Jun 19, 2015 2:33 PM - toy: ahhh ill try the next run at 210
Jun 19, 2015 2:34 PM - toy: one of the spools i had... looked like someone fused 2 seperate filaments together with a lighter.. lets just say it never passed the ezstruder
Jun 19, 2015 2:35 PM - Stephen Capistron: i thought you were using good colorfabb stuff?
Jun 19, 2015 2:35 PM - toy: not for the kids
Jun 19, 2015 2:35 PM - toy: the cheap stuff
Jun 19, 2015 2:36 PM - Stephen Capistron: well that explains it then
Jun 19, 2015 2:38 PM - toy: i put all the color fabb off to the side for the "gifted kids"
Jun 19, 2015 2:38 PM - Mike Glass: how does the first layer look, not waves?
Jun 19, 2015 2:38 PM - toy: lays flat and perfect
Jun 19, 2015 2:38 PM - toy: nice consistent even line
Jun 19, 2015 2:39 PM - Stephen Capistron: but that is up against the hot glass
    Jun 19, 2015 2:39 PM - toy: yes at 40C
Jun 19, 2015 2:39 PM - Mike Glass: do yo do a different heat for first layer
Jun 19, 2015 2:39 PM - Stephen Capistron: If you crank the heat another 20C It will probably happen on the 3rd or fourth layer
Jun 19, 2015 2:39 PM - toy: no just 200C for all layers
Jun 19, 2015 2:40 PM - Mike Glass: so yea do 210 or 215 on the nozzle
    Jun 19, 2015 2:40 PM - toy: first 215 and drop to 210?
Jun 19, 2015 2:41 PM - Mike Glass: either way , I like to keep it the same temp
Jun 19, 2015 2:43 PM - toy: its only on the 2nd layer.... the very top solid layer just now went down perfect
Jun 19, 2015 2:43 PM - toy: then again i did bump the temp up to 210
    Jun 19, 2015 2:45 PM - toy: http://3dprint.com/41183/robotic-6-axis-3d-printer/ hmmm i want one
Jun 19, 2015 2:46 PM - Mike Glass: seen that before, kinda cool
    Jun 19, 2015 3:07 PM - Montravont: Hello World
    Jun 19, 2015 3:07 PM - Mike Glass: Monty
Jun 19, 2015 3:07 PM - Mike Kelly: sup mr mont
Jun 19, 2015 3:07 PM - Montravont: finally got some lights installed on my Robo
    Jun 19, 2015 3:08 PM - Mike Kelly: awesome
Jun 19, 2015 3:08 PM - Mike Glass: man this day is dragging
Jun 19, 2015 3:08 PM - Montravont: taped them in yesterday, power supply arrived today
Jun 19, 2015 3:08 PM - Montravont: should be getting my zebra plate from PrintinZ tomorrow
Jun 19, 2015 3:08 PM - Mike Kelly: very nice
Jun 19, 2015 3:08 PM - Mike Kelly: i guess you got your refund from geckotek?
    Jun 19, 2015 3:08 PM - Montravont: yeah
    Jun 19, 2015 3:08 PM - Montravont: a bit back actually
    Jun 19, 2015 3:09 PM - Mike Kelly: right
Jun 19, 2015 3:09 PM - Montravont: now it's been a matter of choosing when I can spend money and when I have to put it toward the baby savings account
Jun 19, 2015 3:09 PM - Mike Kelly: heh for sure
Jun 19, 2015 3:10 PM - Montravont: anything new going on?
Jun 19, 2015 3:10 PM - Mike Kelly: oh not a whole lot really
Jun 19, 2015 3:14 PM - Mike Kelly: have you heard of the bondtech extruder?
    Jun 19, 2015 3:17 PM - jbigler1986: Get ready for this MK
    Jun 19, 2015 3:18 PM - jbigler1986: [IMG]
Jun 19, 2015 3:19 PM - Bill Monroe: and you said that was lousy filament....
    Jun 19, 2015 3:19 PM - jbigler1986: [IMG]
    Jun 19, 2015 3:19 PM - jbigler1986: Probably the best corners i have gotten
    Jun 19, 2015 3:19 PM - Bill Monroe: <hi5>
    Jun 19, 2015 3:20 PM - jbigler1986: What do you think
Jun 19, 2015 3:20 PM - toy: whats the layer height?
Jun 19, 2015 3:20 PM - Mike Kelly: looks great
Jun 19, 2015 3:20 PM - Bill Monroe: superior work, we are all nathing in your presence
    Jun 19, 2015 3:20 PM - jbigler1986: .2 height
Jun 19, 2015 3:22 PM - Mike Glass: looks like a stick of butter
Jun 19, 2015 3:23 PM - Mike Glass: silky smooth
Jun 19, 2015 3:29 PM - jbigler1986: May be the smoothest print so far
Jun 19, 2015 3:30 PM - Mike Glass: what that the hatchbox
    Jun 19, 2015 3:31 PM - jbigler1986: Yeah
    Jun 19, 2015 3:43 PM - Montravont: Mike - No I haven't heard of that yet
Jun 19, 2015 3:45 PM - Montravont: I really like Inkscape, just now
    Jun 19, 2015 3:52 PM - jbigler1986: I changed extrusion to 96 for those parts
Jun 19, 2015 3:53 PM - Mike Kelly: i'm running them now if you look it up bondtech.se
    Jun 19, 2015 3:55 PM - jbigler1986: Had any issues with those?
Jun 19, 2015 3:56 PM - Mike Kelly: well it was apparently a jam yesterday
Jun 19, 2015 3:56 PM - Mike Kelly: not entirely sure what happened
    Jun 19, 2015 3:57 PM - jbigler1986: Sometimes its just a mystery
Jun 19, 2015 3:59 PM - Montravont: looks kinda cool
Jun 19, 2015 3:59 PM - Montravont: As much as I like the Robo, I do get speed envy from time to time watching other printers
Jun 19, 2015 4:00 PM - Mike Kelly: you'll just have to get a second at some point :)
    Jun 19, 2015 4:00 PM - Montravont: eventually
Jun 19, 2015 4:00 PM - Montravont: new Robo's should be increased in speed I would think
    Jun 19, 2015 4:00 PM - Montravont: since they're switching Z methods
Jun 19, 2015 4:01 PM - Mike Kelly: yeah if they ever make it :)
Jun 19, 2015 4:01 PM - Montravont: granted... I did crank mine to 120 the other day and it turned out alright, but it was a fairly flat object
Jun 19, 2015 4:01 PM - Stephen Capistron: It isn't the z that is slowing them down. It is the belts / extruder
Jun 19, 2015 4:01 PM - Mike Kelly: nothing wrong with belts
Jun 19, 2015 4:02 PM - Mike Kelly: it's mostly the extruder limitation
Jun 19, 2015 4:03 PM - Montravont: I've been really happy with my prints lately... but I just moved around the entire office so I hope I don't have to spend too much time getting it dialed back in
Jun 19, 2015 4:03 PM - Stephen Capistron: A belt with an "infinite" elastic modulus would be able to go super fast with any weight
Jun 19, 2015 4:08 PM - Stephen Capistron: Don't get me wrong. I'm all onboard with the colin chapman "add lightness" train of thought
Jun 19, 2015 4:11 PM - jbigler1986: I will be happy when i can get the quality of prints i just did at 130mm/s
Jun 19, 2015 4:13 PM - jbigler1986: Even then i will probably want something bigger or quiter or something the way i have been lately
Jun 19, 2015 4:26 PM - Mike Kelly: alright JB
Jun 19, 2015 4:26 PM - Mike Kelly: what color are you going with?
    Jun 19, 2015 4:42 PM - jbigler1986: For the carriage?
Jun 19, 2015 4:44 PM - Sims Reaper: So, I finally tried some green "painters tape" with a light abs juice coat, and got my first perfect abs print. It was large too. 7" across and about 6" high
Jun 19, 2015 4:44 PM - Sims Reaper: Should have my buildtak here wednesday to swap it out with
Jun 19, 2015 4:44 PM - Sims Reaper: The iron man helmet is slowly coming along
    Jun 19, 2015 4:45 PM - Montravont: that's one thing I haven't ventured into yet... large projects
    Jun 19, 2015 4:45 PM - Montravont: multiple parts
Jun 19, 2015 4:45 PM - Montravont: should be getting my zebra plate tomorrow... so maybe I'll find something good to print
Jun 19, 2015 4:51 PM - jbigler1986: Mk if you were asking me what color im going to print the carriage and stuff it will probably be blue or natural
Jun 19, 2015 4:54 PM - jbigler1986: Or half translucent black and half blue
    Jun 19, 2015 5:52 PM - jbigler1986: What's like a 5 minute print so i can test gcode
    Jun 19, 2015 5:52 PM - Mike Kelly: a cube
Jun 19, 2015 5:56 PM - jbigler1986: adding retract at the end of a print and extrude at the start
Jun 19, 2015 5:56 PM - jbigler1986: i added G1 E3 F90 at the end of the start gcode earlier but it didn't work. What am i missing

    Jun 19, 2015 6:02 PM - jbigler1986: I just added cura's extrude gcode. we shall see
Jun 19, 2015 6:52 PM - Mike Kelly: omg it's so hot in the garage
    Jun 19, 2015 7:02 PM - jbigler1986: Its humid as hell
    Jun 19, 2015 7:02 PM - Mike Kelly: i'm thinking the walls aren't insulated
Jun 19, 2015 7:04 PM - Mike Kelly: and i unplugged the connector for my carriage now i can't get the pos back together
    Jun 19, 2015 7:05 PM - jbigler1986: Bent pins?
Jun 19, 2015 7:10 PM - jbigler1986: Man i need that geared stepper. Trying to retract and change fioament with this one is a bitch
    Jun 19, 2015 7:10 PM - jbigler1986: Filament*
Jun 19, 2015 7:15 PM - Mike Kelly: sorta they just don't orient the correct way
    Jun 19, 2015 7:35 PM - daniel871: G92 E0
    Jun 19, 2015 7:35 PM - daniel871: G1 E? F?
    Jun 19, 2015 7:35 PM - daniel871: G92 E0
    Jun 19, 2015 7:35 PM - daniel871: Like that?
Jun 19, 2015 7:36 PM - daniel871: It works in my start/end code at the end of each section.
    Jun 19, 2015 7:36 PM - daniel871: Bracketing with G92 E0 is important for some reason.
Jun 19, 2015 7:44 PM - Mike Kelly: commie needs to reduce his first layer height and drop the temperature
    Jun 19, 2015 7:44 PM - Mike Kelly: also increase top/bottom layers
Jun 19, 2015 8:00 PM - daniel871: Im having my own issues with the LCD controller losing the SD Card connection during the skirt runs of a print.
    Jun 19, 2015 8:00 PM - daniel871: Commie is on his own.
Jun 19, 2015 8:04 PM - daniel871: I think this microSD to SD adapter is the problem. I've been doing a lot of swapping adapters using the one for the LCD and the one that came with the Robo for USB connecting to PC.
    Jun 19, 2015 8:04 PM - daniel871: (Loading programs, changing, etc.)

Jun 20, 2015 3:34 AM - daniel871: Guy on another forum that has the robo
Jun 20, 2015 3:35 AM - daniel871: And complains incessantly because it isn't fully automatic with flawless prints.
Jun 20, 2015 3:41 AM - jbigler1986: Ha. You gotta put a lot of time and effort to get almost perfect prints
Jun 20, 2015 3:43 AM - jbigler1986: Hell just yesterday I got probably the best print i have ever done. Although it wasnt a complex part at all
    Jun 20, 2015 4:33 AM - Bill Monroe: mornin
    Jun 20, 2015 5:14 AM - jbigler1986: Hello there

Jun 20, 2015 6:05 AM - Mike Glass: I need to get my 10x5 cnc parts, so I can be more productive, doing 14" at a time is very time consuming.
Jun 20, 2015 6:06 AM - Bill Monroe: his dad was a sign painter.. as in, he'd actually paint signs by hand.. I watched him paint a new city firetruck, city seal and all.. all by hand .. effortlessly
Jun 20, 2015 6:06 AM - Bill Monroe: that guy was amazing
Jun 20, 2015 6:07 AM - Mike Glass: Yea im not that artistic
Jun 20, 2015 6:07 AM - Bill Monroe: I can barely draw a draft beer
Jun 20, 2015 6:15 AM - Mike Glass: I printed some stakes to hold the beer caddy together not sure if I like the design or not, what do you think. http://imgur.com/a/h5D58
    Jun 20, 2015 6:17 AM - jbigler1986: Stepper has arrived
Jun 20, 2015 6:17 AM - Bill Monroe: hmm dunno.. looks cool.
Jun 20, 2015 6:17 AM - Mike Glass: Think it would be cool to cast those in aluminum
Jun 20, 2015 6:17 AM - Bill Monroe: hello stepper
Jun 20, 2015 6:17 AM - Mike Glass: Hey jb
Jun 20, 2015 6:17 AM - jbigler1986: Cant mess with it until later bc my wife decided she wants to paint today. Blah
Jun 20, 2015 6:17 AM - jbigler1986: I like that MG. Make it out of wood
Jun 20, 2015 6:18 AM - Mike Glass: so how does that involve you?..lol
Jun 20, 2015 6:18 AM - Bill Monroe: oh, so now we knows who runs jb's house :)
Jun 20, 2015 6:18 AM - jbigler1986: Yep. Not even gonna deny that
Jun 20, 2015 6:18 AM - Mike Glass: yea it will be made out of this. [IMG]
Jun 20, 2015 6:18 AM - jbigler1986: Cant complain though. She pretty much lets me do whatever.
Jun 20, 2015 6:19 AM - Mike Glass: I refuse to paint, other then when I built the new addition and office, I painted that.
Jun 20, 2015 6:20 AM - jbigler1986: I complain until she walks out in boy shorts.
Jun 20, 2015 6:20 AM - Mike Glass: too bad you cant get that color in laywood.
Jun 20, 2015 6:20 AM - Mike Glass: I still want an all printed one for the beach.
Jun 20, 2015 6:20 AM - jbigler1986: Wont post a pic of what im talking about bc it will greatly offend some people on here
    Jun 20, 2015 6:20 AM - Bill Monroe: that's the same trick 2.0 uses
    Jun 20, 2015 6:21 AM - jbigler1986: It works well
    Jun 20, 2015 6:21 AM - Bill Monroe: it's awesome
Jun 20, 2015 6:21 AM - Bill Monroe: usually ends up with paint on 2.0 though.. :)
    Jun 20, 2015 6:21 AM - jbigler1986: Lol
Jun 20, 2015 6:22 AM - jbigler1986: Retracting enough to change filament with the current stepper is almost impossible
    Jun 20, 2015 6:23 AM - jbigler1986: Skips like crazy
Jun 20, 2015 6:23 AM - jbigler1986: What are you guys up to today
Jun 20, 2015 6:26 AM - Mike Glass: Here is what it looks like [IMG]
Jun 20, 2015 6:27 AM - Mike Glass: Might flatten the top part and do a logo or something
    Jun 20, 2015 6:36 AM - jbigler1986:
    Jun 20, 2015 6:36 AM - jbigler1986: Haha. Tom Brady. Funny
Jun 20, 2015 6:54 AM - Bill Monroe: i'm just shopping for an arduino SD card reader and getting ready to pull the cowl off one on my planes
Jun 20, 2015 6:55 AM - Bill Monroe: but 2.0 is prancing around the hanger with her airshow party outfit and is distracting me
Jun 20, 2015 7:01 AM - Bill Monroe: hanger sure looks nice though, she's amazing
    Jun 20, 2015 7:26 AM - Bill Monroe: Amazon same-day delivery rocks.
    Jun 20, 2015 7:28 AM - donhuevo: morning gents
    Jun 20, 2015 7:29 AM - Bill Monroe: don
    Jun 20, 2015 7:29 AM - donhuevo: hey Bill
Jun 20, 2015 7:40 AM - Bill Monroe: OK, SD shield arrives later today, tomorrow progamming in the hanger :)
    Jun 20, 2015 7:40 AM - Mike Glass: Don
    Jun 20, 2015 7:40 AM - donhuevo: morning Mike
Jun 20, 2015 7:41 AM - Mike Glass: whats shakin
Jun 20, 2015 7:41 AM - donhuevo: playing with acceleration values and how they affect ringing
Jun 20, 2015 7:43 AM - donhuevo: turns out 200 as a max acceleration adds a ridiculous amount to the print time
Jun 20, 2015 7:44 AM - Printed Solid: acceleration typically affects total print time way more than speed.
Jun 20, 2015 7:44 AM - Printed Solid: and it's not a part of the slicer, which is why most slicer times are inaccurate
    Jun 20, 2015 7:44 AM - donhuevo: morning P
    Jun 20, 2015 7:44 AM - Printed Solid: morning
Jun 20, 2015 7:45 AM - Printed Solid: looks like the forum spam filter is broken.
Jun 20, 2015 7:45 AM - donhuevo: great opportunity for cheap viagra though
Jun 20, 2015 7:46 AM - Bill Monroe: hi Matt
    Jun 20, 2015 7:47 AM - Printed Solid: hi.
Jun 20, 2015 7:49 AM - donhuevo: Matt, how would you weigh in on Eustathios vs a Core xy design
Jun 20, 2015 7:55 AM - Bill Monroe: personally, although it's a fun excerize, I've yet to see any advanage to the Core
Jun 20, 2015 7:55 AM - Printed Solid: I'm not super famillar with the details of the mechanical differences there.
Jun 20, 2015 7:57 AM - donhuevo: well, Eustathios/Ingentis is still a true cartesian setup. Here's a page digging into the core xy a bit...

Jun 20, 2015 9:54 AM - Mike Kelly: Howdy howdy
    Jun 20, 2015 9:54 AM - donhuevo: hey bud
Jun 20, 2015 9:55 AM - Mike Kelly: How are things
Jun 20, 2015 9:56 AM - donhuevo: things are good. feeling a bit experimental
Jun 20, 2015 9:57 AM - donhuevo: how are your things?
Jun 20, 2015 9:58 AM - Mike Kelly: Pretty good. I started working on the hybrid setup
Jun 20, 2015 9:59 AM - Mike Kelly: It's mostly back together but i unplugged my connector now I can't get it back together
Jun 20, 2015 9:59 AM - Mike Kelly: Gotta pull out some pins I guess
    Jun 20, 2015 10:00 AM - donhuevo: the D-sub connector?
    Jun 20, 2015 10:02 AM - Mike Kelly: Na it's a 24 pin molex
    Jun 20, 2015 10:05 AM - donhuevo: even worse
Jun 20, 2015 10:06 AM - donhuevo: I'm printing brackets for extruded aluminum assembly. Figured since I was printing the same thing over and over, I'd play with acceleration too
Jun 20, 2015 10:29 AM - Mike Kelly: What is the assembly for?
    Jun 20, 2015 10:31 AM - Mike Kelly: http://i.imgur.com/J7Iu7J5.jpg
Jun 20, 2015 10:31 AM - donhuevo: right now I'm leaning towards core xy
Jun 20, 2015 10:32 AM - donhuevo: that is NOT a pretty picture
Jun 20, 2015 10:32 AM - Mike Kelly: That's how it used to be. The pins are in backwards there
Jun 20, 2015 10:32 AM - Mike Kelly: I fixed it since then but there's still one at an angle that make it hard to put together

Jun 20, 2015 10:42 AM - jbigler1986: Yeah i like my connector that i didnt have to crimp. Let someone else do that
    Jun 20, 2015 10:45 AM - jbigler1986: Lets see ur hyrbid setup. V6 hotends?
Jun 20, 2015 10:53 AM - Dafni: Anyone know why my x-axis is always triggered? :(
Jun 20, 2015 10:55 AM - Sims Reaper: Daf, check your connections and ensure your on the right terminals on your switch
Jun 20, 2015 10:59 AM - Dafni: I'll check the connections now.. How you I check the terminals? :/
Jun 20, 2015 11:05 AM - Dafni: the connection on the bottom part seams alright..
Jun 20, 2015 11:07 AM - Mike Kelly: probably a disconnected or broken connection
Jun 20, 2015 11:08 AM - Dafni: how do know?...
Jun 20, 2015 11:09 AM - Mike Kelly: follow the wire from the endstop
Jun 20, 2015 11:20 AM - Dafni: physical connection are fine.. though, when I remove one of the clips
Jun 20, 2015 11:20 AM - Dafni: and run m119, it says that it is still trigerred...
Jun 20, 2015 12:16 PM - donhuevo: I'm thinking the switch is wired NC (normally closed) so the software sees the switch electrically open. time to play with the multimeter
    Jun 20, 2015 12:19 PM - jbigler1986: Ahhh. Done painting
Jun 20, 2015 12:43 PM - Mike Kelly: i think i need to put my x endstop back onto the idler
Jun 20, 2015 12:48 PM - donhuevo: I'm a firm believer in less is more
    Jun 20, 2015 12:49 PM - Mike Kelly: yeah i suppose
Jun 20, 2015 12:49 PM - donhuevo: or you could go the other way and try to mount the arduino and ramps on the carriage too
    Jun 20, 2015 12:50 PM - donhuevo: sorry
    Jun 20, 2015 12:51 PM - jbigler1986: Yeah i didnt like the x switch on the carriage
Jun 20, 2015 12:53 PM - donhuevo: I might need to redesign my idler end so that I can pull on the x belt pulley to add tension there
    Jun 20, 2015 1:16 PM - jbigler1986: Ok stepper wirijg is different
    Jun 20, 2015 1:17 PM - jbigler1986: Cant find my multimeter
    Jun 20, 2015 1:17 PM - donhuevo: different how?
Jun 20, 2015 1:18 PM - jbigler1986: Connected the coresponding colors and it didnt do anything.
Jun 20, 2015 1:18 PM - jbigler1986: So wiring has to be different
Jun 20, 2015 1:19 PM - jbigler1986: Now to figure it which is which without a multimeter. Hmmm
Jun 20, 2015 1:20 PM - donhuevo: there's a way to find your two coils by twisting a pair of wires together and turning the motor by hand. can't remember exactly though
Jun 20, 2015 1:21 PM - jbigler1986: Yeah they are bare right now
Jun 20, 2015 1:22 PM - Mike Glass: milling a piece of wood for the beer caddy first pass, not sure what its gonna go all the way through im screwed [IMG]
Jun 20, 2015 1:23 PM - donhuevo: You can also use a simple BACK EMF test in which you short two leads together. If it is harder to move the rotor, then those two wires form one of the phases. If the rotor moves as easy as with no wires crossed over, then those two wires are not connected through a winding. Keep on going until you find both phases.
    Jun 20, 2015 1:24 PM - jbigler1986: [IMG]
    Jun 20, 2015 1:24 PM - jbigler1986: Pic i got in the box
Jun 20, 2015 1:25 PM - jbigler1986: Not sure if that helps. Electrical is jot ky strong point
Jun 20, 2015 1:25 PM - donhuevo: ok so black and green as pins 1 & 2 and blue and red take 3 & 4. if the motor spins the wrong way, switch the black and green with each other
Jun 20, 2015 1:27 PM - jbigler1986: So what colors should i wire which ones to from stock stepper colored wires
    Jun 20, 2015 1:27 PM - donhuevo: doesn't matter
Jun 20, 2015 1:29 PM - jbigler1986: So i tried same colors to same ones from original wiring. Should i just reverse all
    Jun 20, 2015 1:29 PM - jbigler1986: And try it
Jun 20, 2015 1:29 PM - donhuevo: what order were your stepper colors in when you did that?
    Jun 20, 2015 1:31 PM - jbigler1986: [IMG]
Jun 20, 2015 1:31 PM - donhuevo: at the other end of the wires
    Jun 20, 2015 1:31 PM - jbigler1986: At the board?
    Jun 20, 2015 1:32 PM - donhuevo: yep
    Jun 20, 2015 1:32 PM - jbigler1986: Idk. I just clip the wires. Lol
    Jun 20, 2015 1:32 PM - jbigler1986: I like to splice
Jun 20, 2015 1:34 PM - donhuevo: so when you spliced, you just matched up the colors
    Jun 20, 2015 1:35 PM - jbigler1986: Yes
Jun 20, 2015 1:35 PM - donhuevo: k and what order are the colors in at the ramps?
    Jun 20, 2015 1:35 PM - jbigler1986: Let me check
Jun 20, 2015 1:35 PM - jbigler1986: Make it easier for you to help me
    Jun 20, 2015 1:40 PM - jbigler1986: [IMG]
Jun 20, 2015 1:40 PM - jbigler1986: The one on the bottom there
Jun 20, 2015 1:42 PM - donhuevo: it should spin. red is next to blue and green is next to black
Jun 20, 2015 1:42 PM - jbigler1986: Let me try again. Hotend was heated as well
Jun 20, 2015 1:42 PM - donhuevo: could it be the pot needs adjusted?
Jun 20, 2015 1:44 PM - donhuevo: where's that ceramic screwdriver when you need it
    Jun 20, 2015 1:44 PM - jbigler1986: Maybe
Jun 20, 2015 1:44 PM - jbigler1986: Im sure it needs more power.
Jun 20, 2015 1:44 PM - donhuevo: make a note of how the pot was before you turn it
Jun 20, 2015 1:45 PM - jbigler1986: Can i adjust it with a regular screw driver while everything is unplugged then plig it back in just to see if it works
Jun 20, 2015 1:46 PM - donhuevo: it's one of those things you want to adjust while the motor is running, but as long as it's unplugged (USB too!) then metal is fine
    Jun 20, 2015 1:46 PM - jbigler1986: Everything is unplugged
Jun 20, 2015 1:47 PM - jbigler1986: Alright let me find a link on how to adjust it
Jun 20, 2015 1:48 PM - donhuevo: it's how the motor sounds when it's running. That's my understanding anyway
    Jun 20, 2015 1:49 PM - donhuevo: how about a flat toothpick?
Jun 20, 2015 1:50 PM - jbigler1986: Well my steps are extremely low could that be the issue too. I tried to turn in a few mm. Maybe that wasnt enough to make it move
    Jun 20, 2015 1:50 PM - donhuevo: change your steps to 500. It's a start
Jun 20, 2015 1:51 PM - donhuevo: you can fine tune that later
    Jun 20, 2015 1:51 PM - donhuevo: you did get a 5.18:1 right?
    Jun 20, 2015 1:52 PM - jbigler1986: Yeah
Jun 20, 2015 1:52 PM - donhuevo: that's what I have on my extruder and my e steps are 500
    Jun 20, 2015 1:55 PM - jbigler1986: Let me change e steps first
Jun 20, 2015 1:55 PM - jbigler1986: Whats the gcode to temp save it
Jun 20, 2015 1:57 PM - donhuevo: ummm M500 to write to EEPROM but it's probably better to just change your firmware
Jun 20, 2015 1:57 PM - jbigler1986: I know. Dont have my modified firmware available right this second
Jun 20, 2015 1:58 PM - donhuevo: sorry. not sure
    Jun 20, 2015 2:04 PM - jbigler1986: Ok.it works. Yay
Jun 20, 2015 2:10 PM - jbigler1986: Move it in 10mm increments and it worked. Maybe the 1mm movement i was just blind. Thabks for the help though
    Jun 20, 2015 2:11 PM - donhuevo: yep
Jun 20, 2015 2:11 PM - jbigler1986: Now to actually wire it up
Jun 20, 2015 2:15 PM - daniel871: Printing something in jb's favorite material to hate right now.
    Jun 20, 2015 2:40 PM - jbigler1986: Which is
Jun 20, 2015 2:48 PM - jbigler1986: God damnit. I gotta bore out the inside of this drive gear. Ugh
    Jun 20, 2015 2:51 PM - donhuevo: oh yeah, there's that...
Jun 20, 2015 2:52 PM - donhuevo: if it's any consolation, I just had to replace two of my neopixels because I'm an idiot
Jun 20, 2015 2:54 PM - jbigler1986: Its only like 1mm difference. Wont take much
Jun 20, 2015 2:57 PM - jbigler1986: Could probably use a file but where is the fun in that
    Jun 20, 2015 2:58 PM - donhuevo: the geared stepper has a 6mm shaft?
    Jun 20, 2015 2:58 PM - jbigler1986: Yeah
Jun 20, 2015 2:59 PM - donhuevo: yep. back when I bought mine there was a company called Trinity Labs that sold excellent hobbed pulleys already sized for a geared shaft
Jun 20, 2015 2:59 PM - donhuevo: then they went out of business
    Jun 20, 2015 2:59 PM - jbigler1986: That sucks
Jun 20, 2015 3:00 PM - donhuevo: wishing I would have gotten 20 instead of two
Jun 20, 2015 3:01 PM - jbigler1986: Not a big deal. More of an annoyance. Gotta make me wait longer to print
Jun 20, 2015 3:02 PM - jbigler1986: Heat it up and press it on. Ha. Wouldnt slip on the shaft
Jun 20, 2015 3:03 PM - jbigler1986: Wouldn't be fun to get back off either
Jun 20, 2015 3:06 PM - donhuevo: no sir, it would not
Jun 20, 2015 3:25 PM - jbigler1986: Awhats an easy way to calibrate extruder with bowden
Jun 20, 2015 3:27 PM - donhuevo: pop the bowden tube and fitting off the extruder side. Cut the filament flush. Extrude 100mm then cut again and measure it with your calipers
Jun 20, 2015 3:29 PM - jbigler1986: Nvm. I can do it same as before. Overlooked it. Woops
