Aug 8, 2015 1:17 PM - Mike Kelly: yeah you should have gotten a 4.5mm wrench in your tool kit
Aug 8, 2015 1:17 PM - Mike Kelly: use that to grab the flats on the heat break
Aug 8, 2015 1:17 PM - Mike Kelly: then grip the nozzle with another wrench and loosen
Aug 8, 2015 1:17 PM - Mike Kelly: while warmish
Aug 8, 2015 1:18 PM - donhuevo: I actually prefer a crescent on the heater block and a wrench on the nozzle. I don't like to touch the heat break with tools
    Aug 8, 2015 1:18 PM - donhuevo: but that's me
Aug 8, 2015 1:35 PM - JeffTheMess: my nozzle looks like it was in a dumpster under fire
    Aug 8, 2015 2:00 PM - jbigler1986: Ha
    Aug 8, 2015 2:00 PM - jbigler1986: Yeah. Soak it in mek
Aug 8, 2015 2:14 PM - JeffTheMess: at the end I should be able to see light through it, right(from what I seen on youtube
    Aug 8, 2015 2:14 PM - donhuevo: absolutely.
Aug 8, 2015 2:16 PM - JeffTheMess: yeah, i cant even see through the heat sink
Aug 8, 2015 2:17 PM - donhuevo: you need to unscrew the heatsink from the heat break then the heat break from the heater block
    Aug 8, 2015 2:17 PM - JeffTheMess: yeah thats what i did
Aug 8, 2015 2:17 PM - donhuevo: so you have the heat break free too?
    Aug 8, 2015 2:17 PM - JeffTheMess: yup
Aug 8, 2015 2:18 PM - donhuevo: and there's a clog made it all the way into the heat sink?
Aug 8, 2015 2:18 PM - donhuevo: more pics please
Aug 8, 2015 2:18 PM - JeffTheMess: (first try, i thought i broke it) yeah, i cant see all the way through....coming up
    Aug 8, 2015 2:24 PM - JeffTheMess: [IMG]
Aug 8, 2015 2:24 PM - JeffTheMess: blurry but its all i got
Aug 8, 2015 2:25 PM - donhuevo: am I looking at the end of the break?
    Aug 8, 2015 2:25 PM - JeffTheMess: yes
Aug 8, 2015 2:26 PM - donhuevo: thought we were taking the heat break away from the heat sink?
Aug 8, 2015 2:28 PM - JeffTheMess: no the heat sink
Aug 8, 2015 2:28 PM - donhuevo: it looks like the break is still screwed into the heat sink
Aug 8, 2015 2:29 PM - bamhm182: Part one of my print finished. Now I just have to print the base for it and I can stop printing these things for a minute and print the stuff that I actually want to print.
    Aug 8, 2015 2:30 PM - bamhm182: [IMG]
    Aug 8, 2015 2:30 PM - bamhm182: Anyways, back to work
    Aug 8, 2015 2:36 PM - JeffTheMess: [IMG]
Aug 8, 2015 2:36 PM - JeffTheMess: these two are clogged
Aug 8, 2015 2:37 PM - donhuevo: it'll be easier to deal with the heat break if the heat sink is off of it
    Aug 8, 2015 2:39 PM - donhuevo:
Aug 8, 2015 2:40 PM - bamhm182: I don't think you can remove the heat break from the heat sink
Aug 8, 2015 2:40 PM - bamhm182: I've tried to remove it before and mine doesn't appear to come off
Aug 8, 2015 2:43 PM - donhuevo: the heat sink should be the first thing you unscrew while the heat break is tight against the nozzle inside the heater block. then the nozzle and finally the heat break out of the heater block
Aug 8, 2015 2:48 PM - JeffTheMess: in don we trust
    Aug 8, 2015 2:49 PM - donhuevo: https://tamarintech.com/article/hexagon_std_assembly
Aug 8, 2015 2:49 PM - donhuevo: didn't know about the setscrew on the hex
Aug 8, 2015 2:51 PM - donhuevo: crap and apparently the heatbreak is pressfit into the hex. sorry guys
Aug 8, 2015 2:51 PM - donhuevo: don't try and take it out
    Aug 8, 2015 2:52 PM - donhuevo: crap
    Aug 8, 2015 2:52 PM - donhuevo: STOP
    Aug 8, 2015 2:52 PM - donhuevo: http://printedsolid.com/collections/accessories-and-upgrades/products/e3d-hot-end-kit-v6
    Aug 8, 2015 2:54 PM - JeffTheMess: oops
Aug 8, 2015 2:55 PM - donhuevo: did it come out?
Aug 8, 2015 2:55 PM - JeffTheMess: no, havent yet
    Aug 8, 2015 2:56 PM - donhuevo: good
Aug 8, 2015 2:56 PM - donhuevo: you'll have to drill out the clog in it the way it is
    Aug 8, 2015 2:56 PM - donhuevo: carefully
Aug 8, 2015 2:57 PM - quazi78: I just went through this last night Jeff. Can you put the small alan wrench in the heat sink and see where the clog is?
Aug 8, 2015 2:57 PM - quazi78: if it's at the end outside the heatsink you can heat that with a torch and that makes life much easier
Aug 8, 2015 2:59 PM - JeffTheMess: 17/64 in drill bit should do
    Aug 8, 2015 3:02 PM - donhuevo: 5/64?
Aug 8, 2015 3:04 PM - JeffTheMess: heat cleared out!
    Aug 8, 2015 3:04 PM - JeffTheMess: heat sink
Aug 8, 2015 3:04 PM - JeffTheMess: thanks quazi and don, now for the nozzle
Aug 8, 2015 3:04 PM - donhuevo: watch that youtube assembly video to put it back together
Aug 8, 2015 3:05 PM - quazi78: If the clog was in the heatsink you might be able to put it all back together and then heat to like 230 and then if you have run run a high E string up through the nozzle
Aug 8, 2015 3:05 PM - quazi78: That worked for me last night. Of course not everyone has a high E string just laying around
    Aug 8, 2015 3:06 PM - Mike Kelly: that's why i use a brass bristle
Aug 8, 2015 3:08 PM - quazi78: Also if your hot end is heated up don't make the same mistake I did and just try to work that string or bristle through while holding it with your fingers. Heat gets into that little wire quickly. Grab it with some needle nose. :)
Aug 8, 2015 3:09 PM - jbigler1986: Did you get the heatbreak/heatsink unscrewed from the heat block?
Aug 8, 2015 3:10 PM - donhuevo: it doesn't unscrew. not on the hex anyway
Aug 8, 2015 3:10 PM - donhuevo: stopped him in time
    Aug 8, 2015 3:10 PM - donhuevo: whew
Aug 8, 2015 3:11 PM - jbigler1986: It unscrews from the heat block
    Aug 8, 2015 3:11 PM - donhuevo: the hex?
Aug 8, 2015 3:11 PM - donhuevo: oh, I meant from the heatsink
Aug 8, 2015 3:11 PM - Mike Glass: hah, my internet went down at work, make is really hard to do upgrades remotely..ugg
Aug 8, 2015 3:12 PM - jbigler1986: Yeah. Just not from the heatsink
Aug 8, 2015 3:13 PM - Mike Glass: JB do you know what platform the hictop uses for its controller hardware?
Aug 8, 2015 3:13 PM - jbigler1986: Go from the heatsink side and the heat break side. Make sure its clean from both ways
    Aug 8, 2015 3:13 PM - jbigler1986: Pretty sure same as robo
Aug 8, 2015 3:14 PM - Mike Glass: its all intergrated but cant find the actual board specs
    Aug 8, 2015 3:14 PM - donhuevo: probably rumba-like

Aug 8, 2015 3:26 PM - donhuevo: after having had this metric tape measure for almost two months, I just realized there's a pencil sharpener in the heal of it
Aug 8, 2015 3:33 PM - JeffTheMess: innovation at its best
    Aug 8, 2015 3:35 PM - donhuevo: definitely
    Aug 8, 2015 3:35 PM - Mike Kelly: heh
Aug 8, 2015 3:38 PM - Mike Glass: gotta love ddos attacks on the weekend, really can you do it on the weekday.
Aug 8, 2015 3:39 PM - quazi78: I remember the days of fighting DDoS when I worked at a shared hosting provider
Aug 8, 2015 3:40 PM - quazi78: we didn't have any hardware firewall just a cisco 6509 plugged right into the internet
Aug 8, 2015 3:40 PM - quazi78: many hair pulling out days there

Aug 8, 2015 4:12 PM - Mike Glass: I do on really small parts
    Aug 8, 2015 4:13 PM - quazi78: This part is not small
    Aug 8, 2015 4:13 PM - quazi78: I switched it off. It's on the first layer
Aug 8, 2015 4:13 PM - quazi78: I put two coats of the purple gluestick down, fingers crossed...
Aug 8, 2015 4:15 PM - Mike Glass: glue stick never worked for me

Aug 9, 2015 8:42 AM - Bill Monroe: I hadnt tried it in at least 20 years
Aug 9, 2015 8:43 AM - Bill Monroe: It did. perfectly. and I now see why vinyl addicts always say it sounds so much better than digital
    Aug 9, 2015 9:12 AM - jbigler1986: That it does
Aug 9, 2015 9:13 AM - Bill Monroe: i wonder how it would sound if I pumpd my iphone into the amp?

Aug 9, 2015 10:21 AM - Mike Kelly: The end brackets? Did yours break?
Aug 9, 2015 10:22 AM - donhuevo: no. I have that original base plate and bed so I figured I'd assemble them on their own
    Aug 9, 2015 10:22 AM - donhuevo: I'm just sad I won't need to dig out the HfnC's
    Aug 9, 2015 10:25 AM - Mike Kelly: As a test rig?
Aug 9, 2015 10:25 AM - donhuevo: yep. with all these different parts I really don't think it'd be wise to test any of them on the only working printer I have
Aug 9, 2015 10:28 AM - donhuevo: oh, I am going to need linear steppers with a 500mm screw
Aug 9, 2015 10:29 AM - donhuevo: what'd the robotdigg shipping turn out to be like
Aug 9, 2015 11:00 AM - Mike Kelly: they claimed it was like 60 something before my "discount" that dropped it down to like 28
Aug 9, 2015 11:01 AM - Mike Kelly: anyone have any recommendations for a beard trimmer?
Aug 9, 2015 11:01 AM - donhuevo: girl beard or boy beard?
Aug 9, 2015 11:02 AM - Mike Kelly: electric razor fell off it's shelf in the shower and that caused the trimmer attachment door to pop open and lose the stick the causes it to work
Aug 9, 2015 11:02 AM - Mike Kelly: so i really just need a trimmer but i might as well get the whole kit
Aug 9, 2015 11:02 AM - donhuevo: if only there was a technology out there where a new stick could be printed
    Aug 9, 2015 11:03 AM - Mike Kelly: haha
Aug 9, 2015 11:03 AM - donhuevo: shower so cordless
    Aug 9, 2015 11:03 AM - Mike Kelly: yeah
Aug 9, 2015 11:03 AM - donhuevo: braun or wahl
Aug 9, 2015 11:03 AM - Mike Kelly: if only i knew what the stick looked like
    Aug 9, 2015 11:03 AM - donhuevo: haha
Aug 9, 2015 11:04 AM - Mike Kelly: she said that at some point
    Aug 9, 2015 11:04 AM - Mike Kelly: http://www.amazon.com/Wahl-9918-617...143639&sr=8-5&keywords=beard+trimmers+for+men probably fine?
Aug 9, 2015 11:05 AM - Mike Kelly: why does wahl have so many options in like a 10 dollar range
    Aug 9, 2015 11:05 AM - donhuevo: yep
    Aug 9, 2015 11:05 AM - Mike Kelly: http://www.amazon.com/Wahl-9916-817...43639&sr=8-14&keywords=beard+trimmers+for+men this looks identical
Aug 9, 2015 11:06 AM - Mike Kelly: guess i'll go with the higher number lower cost one...
    Aug 9, 2015 12:13 PM - jbigler1986: I just bought a new electric razor with a trimmer yesterday
    Aug 9, 2015 12:13 PM - jbigler1986: Its glorious
    Aug 9, 2015 12:14 PM - jbigler1986: But its more of just a razor than a trimmer

Aug 9, 2015 12:17 PM - Mike Kelly: MG how much emt did you buy?
Aug 9, 2015 12:17 PM - JeffTheMess: good afternoon roboneers
    Aug 9, 2015 12:18 PM - jbigler1986: Almost good evening

    Aug 9, 2015 12:18 PM - JeffTheMess: i lost track of time
Aug 9, 2015 12:19 PM - JeffTheMess: i lost the fight with my extruder, I gave up for now
    Aug 9, 2015 12:19 PM - donhuevo: crap
Aug 9, 2015 12:19 PM - JeffTheMess: as soon as I buy my wifes school books im going e3d
    Aug 9, 2015 12:20 PM - jbigler1986: E3d you will not regret at all
    Aug 9, 2015 12:20 PM - donhuevo: ^
Aug 9, 2015 12:21 PM - donhuevo: granted the hex was leap years ahead of what robo was initially dishing out but the e3d is even better
Aug 9, 2015 12:21 PM - jbigler1986: So easy to do maintenance on it if needed
Aug 9, 2015 12:21 PM - JeffTheMess: isn't robo coming out with something that "matches" the e3d?
Aug 9, 2015 12:22 PM - jbigler1986: They say that. Highly doubt it though
Aug 9, 2015 12:23 PM - jbigler1986: I dont trust anything they say anymore to be honest
Aug 9, 2015 12:23 PM - JeffTheMess: i saw mike's instruction for it, I have to print something for it?
    Aug 9, 2015 12:23 PM - jbigler1986: New fan holder is all
    Aug 9, 2015 12:24 PM - JeffTheMess: shit, can't print at all
Aug 9, 2015 12:24 PM - jbigler1986: But you can install it then print the fan holder without a parts fan until its printed
    Aug 9, 2015 12:25 PM - JeffTheMess: nice
Aug 9, 2015 12:25 PM - jbigler1986: Print it in abs and it will be fine. If you print it in pla just print it slow without a parts fan
    Aug 9, 2015 12:26 PM - JeffTheMess: cool
Aug 9, 2015 12:27 PM - jbigler1986: I can send you the file for it of MK doesnt beat me to it
Aug 9, 2015 12:28 PM - jbigler1986: Its a dual parts fan holder as well
Aug 9, 2015 12:28 PM - donhuevo: mk is daydreaming about manscaping right now
    Aug 9, 2015 12:28 PM - JeffTheMess: lol
    Aug 9, 2015 12:28 PM - jbigler1986: Dickjazzle
    Aug 9, 2015 12:29 PM - donhuevo: that doesn't work at all
Aug 9, 2015 12:29 PM - donhuevo: throw that one out
    Aug 9, 2015 12:30 PM - jbigler1986: Its like vajazzle
Aug 9, 2015 12:30 PM - donhuevo: oh I know where you were headed
    Aug 9, 2015 12:32 PM - jbigler1986: Get ready for it.
Aug 9, 2015 12:32 PM - jbigler1986: Its sunday so its ok for vulgar pics right?
Aug 9, 2015 12:34 PM - donhuevo: I'm ok but can't speak for anyone else also we don't have the ability to delete later anymore
    Aug 9, 2015 12:34 PM - jbigler1986: I think i need a shower after googling that
Aug 9, 2015 12:35 PM - jbigler1986: Don. Are you starting on a new printer?
    Aug 9, 2015 12:36 PM - donhuevo: I've been
    Aug 9, 2015 12:36 PM - jbigler1986: What kind of frame
Aug 9, 2015 12:36 PM - donhuevo: I'm still planning a big box but I need to build something in the meantime for all these potential robo upgrades
Aug 9, 2015 12:37 PM - donhuevo: without effing up my actual robo
Aug 9, 2015 12:37 PM - jbigler1986: Lol. Trust me. I know how that is
Aug 9, 2015 12:39 PM - donhuevo: I have my original baseplate (pre y axis upgrade) that I'll build on top of. It'll be all Igus bushings and openbuilds 2040 for the z verticals
Aug 9, 2015 12:39 PM - jbigler1986: So the bed is going ro be the y?
Aug 9, 2015 12:40 PM - donhuevo: yep, just like the robo
    Aug 9, 2015 12:40 PM - jbigler1986: Nooooo
Aug 9, 2015 12:40 PM - donhuevo: I have my original robo bed too.
    Aug 9, 2015 12:40 PM - jbigler1986: Cheaper that way i suppose
Aug 9, 2015 12:41 PM - donhuevo: I need to road test these bushings but don't want to do it on the only printer I have
    Aug 9, 2015 12:41 PM - jbigler1986: I thought you liked speed?
Aug 9, 2015 12:42 PM - donhuevo: I do and the big box will do 500
    Aug 9, 2015 12:42 PM - donhuevo: or 300
    Aug 9, 2015 12:42 PM - donhuevo: maybe 250
    Aug 9, 2015 12:43 PM - jbigler1986: Lol
    Aug 9, 2015 12:45 PM - jbigler1986: 200
Aug 9, 2015 12:45 PM - donhuevo: you're familiar with the Eusthathios design, right?
    Aug 9, 2015 12:46 PM - jbigler1986: Yeah
Aug 9, 2015 12:47 PM - donhuevo: that's the plan but the two smoothrods that pass thru the carriage will both be aluminum
    Aug 9, 2015 12:48 PM - donhuevo: Igus bushings instead of lm8uu's
Aug 9, 2015 12:49 PM - jbigler1986: Wonder how they will hold up
Aug 9, 2015 12:49 PM - donhuevo: I think every bit as good as an lm8uu
Aug 9, 2015 12:50 PM - donhuevo: I'm trying to work the new z probe into the interim robo too
Aug 9, 2015 12:50 PM - donhuevo: and possibly the blower and a dict
Aug 9, 2015 1:10 PM - Mike Kelly: jb don't post stuff like that
Aug 9, 2015 1:11 PM - Mike Kelly: keep this sfw
Aug 9, 2015 1:14 PM - JeffTheMess: seems legit but no
    Aug 9, 2015 1:15 PM - Mike Kelly: lol
Aug 9, 2015 1:16 PM - Printed Solid: I don't think you can print above about 250 without upgrading board.
    Aug 9, 2015 1:16 PM - Printed Solid: (hi)
    Aug 9, 2015 1:19 PM - JeffTheMess: https://www.indiegogo.com/projects/opam-water-cooled-hot-end#/story
    Aug 9, 2015 1:21 PM - Mike Kelly: yo
Aug 9, 2015 1:21 PM - Printed Solid: seems neat. Must have never really attracted any 3DP media attention. I watch this stuff constantly and don't recall reading about it before now.
Aug 9, 2015 1:22 PM - Mike Glass: hey MK
Aug 9, 2015 1:22 PM - Mike Kelly: hey mg
Aug 9, 2015 1:23 PM - Mike Kelly: i'm starting to put together the mpcnc
Aug 9, 2015 1:23 PM - Mike Glass: Yay, did you get some emt yet
Aug 9, 2015 1:23 PM - Mike Kelly: i'm having trouble getting the bearing to fit on the roller F
Aug 9, 2015 1:23 PM - Mike Kelly: yeah i picked up 2x10' from home depo
Aug 9, 2015 1:23 PM - Mike Kelly: did you have to sand them down?
Aug 9, 2015 1:23 PM - Mike Glass: nope, it will wear off
Aug 9, 2015 1:24 PM - Mike Kelly: sorry the roller F piece
Aug 9, 2015 1:24 PM - Mike Glass: the new one you just printed?
Aug 9, 2015 1:24 PM - Mike Glass: or the D shaped ones
    Aug 9, 2015 1:24 PM - Mike Kelly: the D's
    Aug 9, 2015 1:25 PM - Mike Kelly: [IMG]
Aug 9, 2015 1:25 PM - Mike Glass: wonder if that is because of abs?
Aug 9, 2015 1:25 PM - Mike Glass: they are tight
    Aug 9, 2015 1:25 PM - Mike Kelly: maybe
Aug 9, 2015 1:26 PM - Mike Glass: take a file to it a couple times.
    Aug 9, 2015 1:30 PM - Mike Glass: [IMG]
    Aug 9, 2015 1:31 PM - Mike Kelly: awesome
Aug 9, 2015 1:32 PM - Bill Monroe: how do you like the Colt, Mike?
Aug 9, 2015 1:32 PM - Mike Glass: time to do some testing, its only 1/4 inch so have to find a 1/8 collet
Aug 9, 2015 1:32 PM - Mike Glass: alot of guitar makers use it, its very tight, as long as it is an older model, they newer ones are not up to spec
Aug 9, 2015 1:33 PM - Bill Monroe: i think mine is maybe, 4 years old
Aug 9, 2015 1:34 PM - Mike Glass: should be good, think mine is 5 or so, used only once.
Aug 9, 2015 1:34 PM - Bill Monroe: I only do sheet aluminum anyway
Aug 9, 2015 1:35 PM - Mike Glass: SHould work perfect.
Aug 9, 2015 1:35 PM - Bill Monroe: it does!
Aug 9, 2015 1:35 PM - Mike Glass: what mill bit do you use for yours
Aug 9, 2015 1:35 PM - Bill Monroe: got this nifty downcutting bit that keeps the sheet from lifting.. feel like cheatine
    Aug 9, 2015 1:36 PM - Bill Monroe: cheating
Aug 9, 2015 1:37 PM - Mike Glass: I need to make a plate on the bottom I think to keep crap out of the motor.
Aug 9, 2015 1:38 PM - Bill Monroe: i made a shield like the pros use.. vacuum attachment
Aug 9, 2015 1:39 PM - Bill Monroe: water fogger

Aug 9, 2015 1:39 PM - Mike Glass: yea dust collector is next
Aug 9, 2015 1:41 PM - Mike Glass: what does the water fogger do?
Aug 9, 2015 1:55 PM - Mike Kelly: did you see this one mike
Aug 9, 2015 2:00 PM - Mike Glass: yes yesterday I found that
Aug 9, 2015 2:01 PM - Mike Glass: no sure why his z is so fricken long..lol
Aug 9, 2015 2:32 PM - Mike Glass: how much you got done Mike?
Aug 9, 2015 2:54 PM - Bill Monroe: water cools the bit, cleans the cut

Aug 9, 2015 3:10 PM - Mike Kelly: i'm missing and/or didn't print some of the middle joiners and ends
Aug 9, 2015 3:12 PM - Mike Kelly: i'm gonna need more black abs soon

    Aug 9, 2015 4:09 PM - daniel871: What's the MP4 file?
Aug 9, 2015 4:16 PM - Mike Glass: its his robo video
Aug 9, 2015 5:17 PM - Mike Glass: MK, just cut a project out in like 5 minutes that would take 15 with the old shaft cutter. effin sweet.
    Aug 9, 2015 5:21 PM - TechSupportGo: hello
    Aug 9, 2015 5:23 PM - Mike Kelly: awesome
Aug 9, 2015 5:25 PM - Mike Glass: that was with a straight cut bit not a spiral, so could go faster.
Aug 9, 2015 5:25 PM - Mike Glass: Hey TSG

    Aug 10, 2015 4:38 AM - bamhm182: Morning, Bill
Aug 10, 2015 4:42 AM - Bill Monroe: finished the design on my new panel this morning..
    Aug 10, 2015 4:43 AM - bamhm182: Sweet
Aug 10, 2015 4:43 AM - bamhm182: I've been pretty busy with some of my projects as well

    Aug 10, 2015 4:44 AM - Bill Monroe: Wilson?
    Aug 10, 2015 4:44 AM - bamhm182: My brother's 21st birthday is coming up. He's a Leo.
    Aug 10, 2015 4:44 AM - bamhm182: Last name

Aug 10, 2015 4:45 AM - bamhm182: Also made some progress on my "PiBoy"
    Aug 10, 2015 4:45 AM - Bill Monroe: ah
    Aug 10, 2015 4:45 AM - Bill Monroe: [IMG]
Aug 10, 2015 4:45 AM - bamhm182: Tried printing out the back shell last night, but for some reason it shifted on the X axis again
Aug 10, 2015 4:46 AM - bamhm182: I don't have time to start over, so I'm just going to let it run and hope that I can quickly fix it with a drill
    Aug 10, 2015 4:46 AM - bamhm182: Looks good
Aug 10, 2015 4:47 AM - bamhm182: One of my friends pointed out that the shotglass holder should light up. Didn't want to screw it up, but embedding LEDs into prints definitely seems like a cool idea. I think I'm going to play around with it in the "near" future
Aug 10, 2015 4:47 AM - Bill Monroe: Need to add the landing gear status lights
Aug 10, 2015 4:47 AM - bamhm182: I imagine that would be an important light to have, haha
Aug 10, 2015 4:48 AM - Bill Monroe: heh they're on the sub panel between the seats.. it's OK there but since I'm doing this much, figured I put them up where they're easier to see
    Aug 10, 2015 4:48 AM - bamhm182: Yeah, fair enough
Aug 10, 2015 4:49 AM - bamhm182: Anyways, I should have gone to bed hours ago, so I think I should probably go ahead and do that now
    Aug 10, 2015 4:49 AM - bamhm182: I'll see you around
Aug 10, 2015 4:49 AM - Bill Monroe: take care
    Aug 10, 2015 4:50 AM - jbigler1986: morning
    Aug 10, 2015 4:50 AM - Bill Monroe: Justin
    Aug 10, 2015 4:50 AM - jbigler1986: how are you this morning
Aug 10, 2015 4:53 AM - Bill Monroe: pretty good, you?
    Aug 10, 2015 4:55 AM - jbigler1986: same
Aug 10, 2015 4:57 AM - Bill Monroe: gotta jam this morning.. first one in a few months..
    Aug 10, 2015 4:59 AM - jbigler1986: happens to the best
Aug 10, 2015 5:00 AM - Bill Monroe: something shifted on the table mount, caused the back to be higher than the front, driving the tip into the table
    Aug 10, 2015 5:01 AM - Bill Monroe: POS
Aug 10, 2015 5:03 AM - Mike Glass: Possible Offset Syndrome?
    Aug 10, 2015 5:04 AM - jbigler1986: LOL
Aug 10, 2015 5:04 AM - Bill Monroe: naw.. just cheap-ass materials used on a weak design
Aug 10, 2015 5:14 AM - Bill Monroe: amazing what you find when you have to retrieve a spring-loaded screw that disappeard behing your printer stand :)
Aug 10, 2015 5:15 AM - JeffTheMess: good morning folks
    Aug 10, 2015 5:18 AM - jbigler1986: morning jeff
Aug 10, 2015 5:20 AM - Bill Monroe: There.. moocho nicer
Aug 10, 2015 5:20 AM - Bill Monroe: Hi Jeff
    Aug 10, 2015 5:21 AM - jbigler1986: the one from the extruder?
Aug 10, 2015 5:22 AM - Bill Monroe: ya.. found an SD card and one of the clips from my little holding fixture
Aug 10, 2015 5:22 AM - Bill Monroe: and most importantly... the screw :)
Aug 10, 2015 5:22 AM - JeffTheMess: how it going fellas
Aug 10, 2015 5:22 AM - jbigler1986: ha. i have had those things shoot across the room
Aug 10, 2015 5:25 AM - Bill Monroe: you could put your eye out!
Aug 10, 2015 6:19 AM - JeffTheMess: (tumbleweed rolls across chat)
    Aug 10, 2015 6:19 AM - Bill Monroe:
Aug 10, 2015 6:40 AM - daniel871: Ugh, I hate Mondays. I'd rather be at home printing stuff.
Aug 10, 2015 6:40 AM - Bill Monroe: take it to work with you
Aug 10, 2015 6:41 AM - daniel871: Screw that, the graphite dust would kill it.
    Aug 10, 2015 6:41 AM - Bill Monroe: but you're in it?
    Aug 10, 2015 6:41 AM - daniel871: I can take a shower.
    Aug 10, 2015 6:42 AM - daniel871: It's a graphite composite material that conducts electricity like you wouldn't believe.
Aug 10, 2015 6:42 AM - daniel871: Also, will ignite if enough of a spark hits it.
    Aug 10, 2015 6:44 AM - Bill Monroe: so will cornstarch :)
Aug 10, 2015 6:45 AM - daniel871: My Robo hates PLA filament for some reason. Always strips out and clogs regardless of the spool used. But PET/ABS does just fine.
    Aug 10, 2015 6:45 AM - daniel871: Weird.
Aug 10, 2015 6:46 AM - daniel871: At least the carriage I use now is easy to clear a clog on.
Aug 10, 2015 6:48 AM - daniel871: I hated the screws Robo used to mount the hotend on the Wade extruder with.
Aug 10, 2015 6:49 AM - daniel871: Took forever to unscrew/re-install because of the fine thread on them.
Aug 10, 2015 6:49 AM - Bill Monroe: hate is a strong feeling to have against an inanimate fastener
    Aug 10, 2015 6:50 AM - JeffTheMess: ^
Aug 10, 2015 6:50 AM - JeffTheMess: over the weekend I stripped mine
Aug 10, 2015 6:52 AM - daniel871: Whatever happened to that redesigned Wade Robo was working on that had a hinge that would swivel out to release the hotend?
Aug 10, 2015 7:02 AM - Bill Monroe: if you have to work on the hotend that much, I'd think it would be better to put your efforts of fixing THAT problem
Aug 10, 2015 7:05 AM - daniel871: It should easier to remove the hotend to change the nozzle or swap between the v6 and volcano heater blocks or change a nozzle.
Aug 10, 2015 7:06 AM - daniel871: Or swap for extruding a particular filament (like the 1.2mm nozzle for T-glase vases).
Aug 10, 2015 7:07 AM - Bill Monroe: ah well, if tinkering is your thing, I guess it would be an advantage
    Aug 10, 2015 7:07 AM - Bill Monroe: me, I just make parts :)
    Aug 10, 2015 7:08 AM - daniel871: I'm getting closer to having things like I want them.
Aug 10, 2015 7:09 AM - daniel871: Going to be setting up for the first dual extrusion print test for that 2-color frog thing.
    Aug 10, 2015 7:17 AM - Mike Kelly: morning
Aug 10, 2015 7:17 AM - Mike Kelly: daniel you calibrated your nozzle distance?
    Aug 10, 2015 7:18 AM - JeffTheMess: morning
Aug 10, 2015 7:35 AM - daniel871: I was coming up with about 28mm spacing between the nozzles, but was going to try to figure out how to generate a program that would print two parallel lines on X and then a line on Y so that I could make sure everything was correct/lined up.
Aug 10, 2015 7:36 AM - Mike Kelly: i'd just print the target
    Aug 10, 2015 7:36 AM - daniel871: Target?
    Aug 10, 2015 7:36 AM - Mike Kelly: http://www.thingiverse.com/thing:533814
    Aug 10, 2015 7:37 AM - daniel871: Ah.
    Aug 10, 2015 7:37 AM - daniel871: Thanks!
    Aug 10, 2015 7:39 AM - Mike Kelly: yup
Aug 10, 2015 7:40 AM - daniel871: Posted the process file I got back from S3D for the dual extruder setup on the Robo.
Aug 10, 2015 7:40 AM - Mike Kelly: yeah i need to check that out
Aug 10, 2015 7:43 AM - Mike Kelly: wow that is a very lazy profile
    Aug 10, 2015 7:43 AM - Mike Kelly: he didn't even add a G29...
    Aug 10, 2015 7:44 AM - daniel871: Huh. I thought I fixed that before re-exporting and uploading it.
    Aug 10, 2015 7:45 AM - donhuevo: morning
Aug 10, 2015 7:45 AM - Mike Kelly: also the abs temps are like 190/60
Aug 10, 2015 7:45 AM - Mike Kelly: mornin don
Aug 10, 2015 7:46 AM - daniel871: Yeah, I saw that when I looked at it and changed them, but for whatever reason is isn't going out with the Export.
    Aug 10, 2015 7:46 AM - daniel871: it isn't
    Aug 10, 2015 7:46 AM - Mike Kelly: hmm
Aug 10, 2015 7:47 AM - daniel871: Also redid Left/Right so that T0 is Left and T1 is Right instead of the other way around like he had them.
    Aug 10, 2015 7:48 AM - daniel871: [IMG]

Aug 10, 2015 7:50 AM - Mike Kelly: i really wish simplify 3d handled duals better
Aug 10, 2015 7:54 AM - daniel871: I wish it was easier to define a custom machine, I have no clue what S3D did to generate the process I got back from them and it seems like someone that made a home-built machine (like a dual extruding Eustathios Spider or something) would like to know that

Aug 10, 2015 7:55 AM - Mike Kelly: what i did was take the robo3d profile and duplicate it
Aug 10, 2015 7:56 AM - Mike Kelly: defined a second extruder and the heater control
Aug 10, 2015 7:57 AM - daniel871: I got that far, it was the step to have S3D recognize them as a valid dual extruding machine that was the problem.
Aug 10, 2015 7:59 AM - Mike Kelly: ah yeah i didn't bother with their dual extursion tools
Aug 10, 2015 8:02 AM - jbigler1986: sounds like you are getting close
    Aug 10, 2015 8:04 AM - daniel871: Really close.
Aug 10, 2015 8:05 AM - daniel871: Going to finish printing the better feet/LCD swivel mount for the Robo and the other misc. PET+ stuff to finish out my spool, then I'll get things put together for the Dual ABS frog. :p
Aug 10, 2015 8:08 AM - Mike Kelly: i wonder if anyone has made a deprime equivalent for dual extruders
    Aug 10, 2015 8:09 AM - jbigler1986: i'm sure
Aug 10, 2015 8:10 AM - Mike Kelly: alright we should now be able to upload s3d files
    Aug 10, 2015 8:10 AM - jbigler1986: this is cool https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:948575
Aug 10, 2015 8:11 AM - Mike Kelly: wow those are crazy
    Aug 10, 2015 8:11 AM - jbigler1986: you want a dual direct drive?
    Aug 10, 2015 8:11 AM - jbigler1986: https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:845513
Aug 10, 2015 8:12 AM - Mike Kelly: what part is hobbed
    Aug 10, 2015 8:12 AM - Mike Kelly: oh i see
    Aug 10, 2015 8:13 AM - jbigler1986: kinda interesting
    Aug 10, 2015 8:13 AM - Mike Kelly: that's definitely out there
Aug 10, 2015 8:13 AM - Mike Kelly: you could probably do something similar on the robo
    Aug 10, 2015 8:13 AM - jbigler1986: yes
Aug 10, 2015 8:13 AM - Mike Kelly: i wonder if that could be shrunk down to use on the chimera
Aug 10, 2015 8:14 AM - jbigler1986: idk. it's a good idea. hobbed bolts work great for direct
    Aug 10, 2015 8:15 AM - Mike Kelly: yeah
    Aug 10, 2015 8:15 AM - Mike Kelly: i like that it's geared
    Aug 10, 2015 8:15 AM - jbigler1986: same
    Aug 10, 2015 8:18 AM - jbigler1986: [IMG]
    Aug 10, 2015 8:18 AM - jbigler1986: dang
Aug 10, 2015 8:19 AM - Mike Kelly: you know i bet you could do something to make the bondtech drive off of a greg's wade style gearing
    Aug 10, 2015 8:20 AM - Mike Kelly: bolted to an M8
Aug 10, 2015 8:22 AM - daniel871: I like that the motoros on that thing are listed as being from 5-1/4 floppy drives.
    Aug 10, 2015 8:23 AM - daniel871: motors, bah.
Aug 10, 2015 8:27 AM - daniel871: I have some UHU sticks, masking tape and AquaNet; is there anything else I need to really get ABS to adhere to the bed?
Aug 10, 2015 8:27 AM - daniel871: I need to use that stuff up before investing in a PEI cover.
Aug 10, 2015 8:27 AM - Mike Kelly: aquanet on glass is pretty good
Aug 10, 2015 8:27 AM - daniel871: I don't want to chip the glass so soon after getting a new bed though. :p
Aug 10, 2015 8:28 AM - daniel871: Will AquaNet on top of the tape work just as well?
Aug 10, 2015 8:28 AM - Mike Kelly: i usually go a bit lower than i'd like for ABS on glass though, i'd rather have elephant feet than lift
Aug 10, 2015 8:28 AM - Mike Kelly: i'd guess so but i've never done abs on tape
Aug 10, 2015 8:29 AM - daniel871: I need to take some photos of my PET prints. They have this matte-like finish on the walls that looks pretty neat to me but probably indicates some kind of problem.
Aug 10, 2015 8:30 AM - daniel871: UHU sticks are for Nylon/Bridge? Trying to remember what I was going to use them for. I have so many different filament spools to play with.
    Aug 10, 2015 8:30 AM - Mike Kelly: correct
Aug 10, 2015 8:30 AM - daniel871: What would be something cool to make with BluPrint filament?
Aug 10, 2015 8:31 AM - daniel871: I have yet to try anything with that bundle of two spools for $20 some moron put up on Amazon a while back.
    Aug 10, 2015 8:31 AM - Mike Kelly: heh
Aug 10, 2015 8:32 AM - daniel871: That high temp food safe aspect has me leaning toward making a cup or bowl or something and seeing if it will survive the dishwasher.
Aug 10, 2015 8:32 AM - Mike Kelly: i've ran my _XT clear through the dishwasher a bunch of times
Aug 10, 2015 8:32 AM - Mike Kelly: does great
    Aug 10, 2015 8:33 AM - daniel871: Yeah, but that's XT.
    Aug 10, 2015 8:33 AM - daniel871: :p
    Aug 10, 2015 8:33 AM - Mike Kelly: it's basically just PET
Aug 10, 2015 8:33 AM - daniel871: Also have a spool of that to use at some point.
Aug 10, 2015 8:33 AM - Mike Kelly: which is i think what bluprint is
    Aug 10, 2015 8:35 AM - daniel871: 110C transition point after printing.
    Aug 10, 2015 8:35 AM - Mike Kelly: that's crazy high
Aug 10, 2015 8:35 AM - Mike Kelly: ABS is only like 104
Aug 10, 2015 8:39 AM - daniel871: Hello new car/boat printed fixtures and outdoor whatever stuff.
Aug 10, 2015 8:39 AM - daniel871: If the price ever drops back down/somebody lists it cheap by mistake.
    Aug 10, 2015 8:40 AM - Mike Kelly: yeah
Aug 10, 2015 8:49 AM - daniel871: The replacement bed I got seemed much better quality in some very nebulous hard-to-put-my-finger-on ways. The black and white colors in the glass were higher contrast and the glass itself seemed heavier than the one I was replacing.
Aug 10, 2015 8:50 AM - Mike Kelly: they did increase the bed thickness at one point, though i thought you had a ribbon cable before
    Aug 10, 2015 8:50 AM - daniel871: I did.
Aug 10, 2015 8:50 AM - daniel871: Everything is so quiet on the Robo now except for the extruder steppers.
Aug 10, 2015 8:52 AM - daniel871: I hear like a hissing sound with a very faint electronic motor noise when X, Y & Z move around, but the extruder is a loud "Brrrrrr, Brrrrrr, Hmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm" noise when it does things (first two would be a retraction and re-priming, then the hum for a continuous slow feed).
Aug 10, 2015 8:52 AM - daniel871: Can hear it from outside the shop, but the motor itself isn't getting hot so I don't know wtf.
Aug 10, 2015 8:53 AM - daniel871: (Also nothing else is running in the shop when you hear those noises, so I figure it'll easily be drowned out by fans/etc. when actual work is being done).
Aug 10, 2015 8:54 AM - Mike Kelly: i should swap the 25mm for a 30mm on the heatsink fan
Aug 10, 2015 8:54 AM - Mike Kelly: that 25 is too loud
Aug 10, 2015 8:56 AM - daniel871: I managed to get both of the v6 fans to mount in the v2 carriage.
    Aug 10, 2015 8:57 AM - daniel871: Whatever size those are.
    Aug 10, 2015 9:00 AM - Mike Kelly: snap
    Aug 10, 2015 9:00 AM - Mike Kelly: how'd you manage that
Aug 10, 2015 9:00 AM - Mike Kelly: did you use the stock shrouds?
Aug 10, 2015 9:00 AM - daniel871: Yeah. Just put one at a time and very gently press the 2nd one in.
Aug 10, 2015 9:00 AM - Mike Kelly: next time you can get a pic that would be cool
    Aug 10, 2015 9:01 AM - jbigler1986: v6 is 30mm
    Aug 10, 2015 9:02 AM - daniel871: Will do.
Aug 10, 2015 9:02 AM - Mike Kelly: are they on the same sides?
    Aug 10, 2015 9:03 AM - daniel871: Yeah.
Aug 10, 2015 9:03 AM - Mike Kelly: cool deal
    Aug 10, 2015 9:03 AM - Mike Kelly: that's good to know
Aug 10, 2015 9:04 AM - jbigler1986: how did you go about leveling them
Aug 10, 2015 9:04 AM - daniel871: I waited to put them on until I levelled the nozzles.
Aug 10, 2015 9:05 AM - daniel871: Would probably be more accurate to say the 2nd one wasn't put on until Nozzle #2 was on the same plane as #1.
Aug 10, 2015 9:07 AM - Mike Kelly: man i forgot how much i hate making drawings
Aug 10, 2015 9:07 AM - daniel871: Solidworks makes that pretty easy if you have your border/etc. set up.
    Aug 10, 2015 9:08 AM - daniel871: I love the ease of generating section views/breakout views/etc.
    Aug 10, 2015 9:08 AM - Mike Kelly: it's easy just tedious
    Aug 10, 2015 9:08 AM - daniel871: Not as tedious as 2D CAD.
Aug 10, 2015 9:08 AM - daniel871: Imagine having to manually draw all of those lines.
Aug 10, 2015 9:09 AM - Mike Kelly: well yeah fuck that
Aug 10, 2015 9:09 AM - Mike Kelly: mostly i don't like doing any drafting
    Aug 10, 2015 9:09 AM - daniel871: LOL
Aug 10, 2015 9:10 AM - daniel871: Anyway, lunch time and off to pretend war with boats.
    Aug 10, 2015 9:10 AM - Mike Kelly: enjoy
Aug 10, 2015 9:10 AM - daniel871: I love how angry people get if you actually ram someone while driving a Japanese ship.
    Aug 10, 2015 9:11 AM - Mike Kelly: kamakaze?
Aug 10, 2015 9:46 AM - jbigler1986: i'm confused daniel. You need a way to be able to adjust the height of the nozzles
Aug 10, 2015 9:50 AM - TxKent: Aloha. The front of my bed carriage - the black plastic part that holds the Y axis rods in place broke. I don't see replacement parts on the site - anybody know where I can get a new one?
    Aug 10, 2015 9:51 AM - jbigler1986: contact robo
    Aug 10, 2015 9:52 AM - jbigler1986: http://www.robo3d.com/pages/replacement-part-request

    Aug 10, 2015 9:53 AM - TxKent: ok. thanks
Aug 10, 2015 9:54 AM - TxKent: Only reason I asked is that I didn't see many parts on the parts page. On phone with them right now.
Aug 10, 2015 9:55 AM - donhuevo: tell all those bastards we say hi
Aug 10, 2015 9:55 AM - jbigler1986: you will get a faster answer that way. they will tell you to fill out that form though
Aug 10, 2015 9:55 AM - jbigler1986: yeah they have been MIA for a while on here. Harry doesn't count
    Aug 10, 2015 9:55 AM - TxKent: LOL
    Aug 10, 2015 9:55 AM - TxKent: Ok.
Aug 10, 2015 10:01 AM - TxKent: Jerry says "Hi" to everybody
    Aug 10, 2015 10:01 AM - donhuevo: cool!
Aug 10, 2015 10:01 AM - TxKent: He said "Those guys are awesome."
Aug 10, 2015 10:02 AM - TxKent: It's the Y bracket - and he suspects it was fractured during shipping - one of my belt clips was shattered.
Aug 10, 2015 10:03 AM - Mike Kelly: yeah probably
Aug 10, 2015 10:03 AM - TxKent: This is starting to feel like owning a european sports car. I JUST got my RAMPS cooler setup yesterday and started printing again.
Aug 10, 2015 10:04 AM - TxKent: I think I can limp along with the bracket as is, but not for long.
Aug 10, 2015 10:06 AM - TxKent: For what it's worth - he said the parts are ABS and they are switching to Nylon.
Aug 10, 2015 10:06 AM - PeterkSharma: Anyone use an oiler?
Aug 10, 2015 10:07 AM - TxKent: I have used one - hard part for me is figuring out how to mount it
    Aug 10, 2015 10:07 AM - jbigler1986: i did until i went bowden
Aug 10, 2015 10:08 AM - Mike Kelly: i use an oiler most of the time
Aug 10, 2015 10:08 AM - Mike Kelly: with PLA at least
Aug 10, 2015 10:08 AM - Mike Kelly: and ABS on the replicators
    Aug 10, 2015 10:08 AM - TxKent: This is what I use: http://www.thingiverse.com/thing:422671
    Aug 10, 2015 10:09 AM - Mike Kelly: ditto
Aug 10, 2015 10:09 AM - jbigler1986: MK did you see the pic I posted yesterday?
Aug 10, 2015 10:09 AM - Mike Kelly: it's a good idea to use one to clean any dust off the filament as well
Aug 10, 2015 10:10 AM - Mike Kelly: hmm which pic
    Aug 10, 2015 10:10 AM - jbigler1986: the opposite of vajazzle
Aug 10, 2015 10:10 AM - Mike Kelly: oh yeah
Aug 10, 2015 10:10 AM - Mike Kelly: i guess you didn't see my reply saying not to post stuff like that
    Aug 10, 2015 10:10 AM - jbigler1986: i did not
Aug 10, 2015 10:10 AM - PeterkSharma: I anyone use the volcano pack for the e3d?
Aug 10, 2015 10:11 AM - jbigler1986: nope. .8 is large enough nozzle for me
    Aug 10, 2015 10:12 AM - Mike Kelly: Daniel uses a volcanop
Aug 10, 2015 10:12 AM - Mike Kelly: so does mark tomlinson
    Aug 10, 2015 10:12 AM - jbigler1986: i think daniel stopped using his though
Aug 10, 2015 10:13 AM - PeterkSharma: What is the difference between the volcano pack and the regular v6v
    Aug 10, 2015 10:13 AM - jbigler1986: has longer/larger nozzled and a larger heatblock
Aug 10, 2015 10:13 AM - daniel871: I used the volcano for a while, but the extruder couldn't push fast enough to really benefit from the larger nozzles.
    Aug 10, 2015 10:14 AM - jbigler1986: can go up to 1.2 nozzle size
Aug 10, 2015 10:14 AM - PeterkSharma: Ah, do I have to swap the heater block? Or can I just do the nozzles?
Aug 10, 2015 10:14 AM - daniel871: 1.2mm T-glase was good, but no way you're going to get it to do PLA or some other softer filament that has a lot of retraction moves in the model.
    Aug 10, 2015 10:14 AM - daniel871: Heaterblock and all.
Aug 10, 2015 10:15 AM - daniel871: The nozzles on the Volcano have longer threads.
Aug 10, 2015 10:15 AM - PeterkSharma: Anyone have a good place to the the fiberglass shielding for the thermistor legs? That's from America?
Aug 10, 2015 10:15 AM - daniel871: Volcano basically requires a Bondtech or other setup that can really brute force the filament.
    Aug 10, 2015 10:15 AM - donhuevo: http://www.filastruder.com/collecti...cts/fiberglass-insulation-for-e3d-thermistors
Aug 10, 2015 10:16 AM - PeterkSharma: Damn. I might hold off on the swap. Yeah I have some hs glass. It's pla but the stiffest filament I have.
    Aug 10, 2015 10:16 AM - jbigler1986: i bought a bunch of these http://www.ebay.com/itm/NTC-3950-Pr...der-Hot-Bed-/261867583102?hash=item3cf886367e
    Aug 10, 2015 10:16 AM - PeterkSharma: Ty
Aug 10, 2015 10:16 AM - daniel871: Never ever put Laywood or any other filament that can cook off/dry out if it stays in the heat zone too long through the Volcano.
Aug 10, 2015 10:17 AM - jbigler1986: so you are saying hemp filament would be perfect? :D
    Aug 10, 2015 10:17 AM - PeterkSharma: Hahaha
Aug 10, 2015 10:17 AM - daniel871: I still have the volcano, but it's basically off to one side while I'm dual-v6-ing the Robo.
Aug 10, 2015 10:17 AM - PeterkSharma: I wonder how wax would do.
Aug 10, 2015 10:17 AM - Mike Kelly: until the oils seep into your skin, then it would be more awesome!
Aug 10, 2015 10:18 AM - PeterkSharma: I just got my porolay in!
    Aug 10, 2015 10:18 AM - jbigler1986: yes
Aug 10, 2015 10:18 AM - donhuevo: my 500mm aluminum smooth rods showed up today
Aug 10, 2015 10:18 AM - jbigler1986: MK you live in CO. That should be a daily thing for you
Aug 10, 2015 10:18 AM - TxKent: Well, I better get back to work. Seeya!
Aug 10, 2015 10:18 AM - PeterkSharma: How does everyone store their filament?
Aug 10, 2015 10:19 AM - daniel871: I leave it in the shipped packaging until I'm ready to use it.
Aug 10, 2015 10:19 AM - daniel871: And then I try to use all of it as soon as I can when I open it. :p
    Aug 10, 2015 10:19 AM - daniel871: For the PLA types.
Aug 10, 2015 10:19 AM - jbigler1986: 2.5 gallon ziploc bags with descatin or however you speel it. Then put those in a tote
Aug 10, 2015 10:19 AM - PeterkSharma: I was thinking of using Scilla in a sealed box
    Aug 10, 2015 10:19 AM - Bill Monroe: dessicant
    Aug 10, 2015 10:20 AM - jbigler1986: ^
    Aug 10, 2015 10:20 AM - jbigler1986: high five
Aug 10, 2015 10:20 AM - daniel871: Biggest reason I love PET+ is that it's hydrophobic so I really don't have to worry about storage.
Aug 10, 2015 10:20 AM - PeterkSharma: Nylon will absorb water too correct?
    Aug 10, 2015 10:21 AM - daniel871: Yeah, Nylon soaks it up.
Aug 10, 2015 10:21 AM - PeterkSharma: How does ninja flex and conductive abs do?
Aug 10, 2015 10:21 AM - donhuevo: you could actually use the nylon as your dessicant for other filaments
Aug 10, 2015 10:21 AM - PeterkSharma: Oh like have it pull the moisture to keep the others dry?
Aug 10, 2015 10:22 AM - daniel871: If you don't mind sacrificing the filament for it.
Aug 10, 2015 10:22 AM - donhuevo: I'm mostly joking because that's probably the most expensive way to do it
Aug 10, 2015 10:23 AM - PeterkSharma: Can't you bake the water out of nylon?
Aug 10, 2015 10:23 AM - donhuevo: yep. low and slow
Aug 10, 2015 10:23 AM - PeterkSharma: After its absorbed it all
Aug 10, 2015 10:23 AM - jbigler1986: that's how to bbq. low and slow baby
Aug 10, 2015 10:23 AM - daniel871: Some people bake the nylon before printing with it just to get the air moisture out of it.
Aug 10, 2015 10:24 AM - donhuevo: toss it in with your pork shoulder
Aug 10, 2015 10:24 AM - PeterkSharma: How quickly do those absorb water
Aug 10, 2015 10:24 AM - Bill Monroe: i'm kinda lucky.. we built a dry/cool storage room for my family's military uniforms.. I keep my filament in there :)
    Aug 10, 2015 10:24 AM - PeterkSharma: Nylon pork.
Aug 10, 2015 10:25 AM - Bill Monroe: mmmm like mom used to make
Aug 10, 2015 10:25 AM - Mike Kelly: man now i want bbq
Aug 10, 2015 10:25 AM - daniel871: Who was going to use bits of filament for the weed eater?
Aug 10, 2015 10:26 AM - Bill Monroe: tried it
    Aug 10, 2015 10:26 AM - donhuevo: and?
Aug 10, 2015 10:26 AM - Mike Kelly: daniel, MG was saying he uses his XT on his weed whacker
Aug 10, 2015 10:26 AM - Bill Monroe: works ok but not fantastic
Aug 10, 2015 10:26 AM - Mike Kelly: i ran out of trimmer line so i used some bridge once
Aug 10, 2015 10:26 AM - Bill Monroe: xt might be better.. pla is too brittle
Aug 10, 2015 10:26 AM - donhuevo: I have some old abs I'd love to use up that way
Aug 10, 2015 10:26 AM - Mike Kelly: would have worked better if i had a gas powere or plug in trimmer but mine is battery powered
Aug 10, 2015 10:26 AM - daniel871: Print a propeller and mount it on the weed eater.
Aug 10, 2015 10:27 AM - Bill Monroe: 3mm wold probably be good
Aug 10, 2015 10:27 AM - Mike Kelly: the larger diameter filament made it more difficult to cut with

Aug 10, 2015 10:27 AM - Mike Kelly: but i can imagine with a higher powered motor you'd get nice cuts with it
Aug 10, 2015 10:28 AM - Bill Monroe: i put an end to the need by hiring gardeners
    Aug 10, 2015 10:29 AM - daniel871: http://www.thingiverse.com/thing:182815
    Aug 10, 2015 10:29 AM - daniel871: Haha.
Aug 10, 2015 10:34 AM - donhuevo: I think it might be slightly safer to mount a semi-automatic pistol to a quadcopter
    Aug 10, 2015 10:36 AM - jbigler1986: nooooo. gotta mount an uzi
Aug 10, 2015 10:41 AM - Bill Monroe: man, quads are about to get hammered with laws..
Aug 10, 2015 10:43 AM - JeffTheMess: screw the man, I'll fly till i die (passion)
Aug 10, 2015 10:45 AM - Bill Monroe: Mercy Air was coming up on an autoaccident here over the weekend, news copter was getting it all.. some dingle-brain was buzzing the scene with is toy
Aug 10, 2015 10:45 AM - Bill Monroe: add to it all, it was less that 2 miles from the airport
Aug 10, 2015 10:46 AM - JeffTheMess: big no no
    Aug 10, 2015 10:46 AM - Bill Monroe: very
Aug 10, 2015 10:47 AM - JeffTheMess: i hate people that ruin the hobby for the rest of us
    Aug 10, 2015 10:47 AM - Bill Monroe: agreed
Aug 10, 2015 10:48 AM - Bill Monroe: self policing is the only way.. preferrable using Louisville Sluggers
Aug 10, 2015 10:48 AM - Bill Monroe: i'm suprised no one has suggested making quads with cameras illegal
Aug 10, 2015 10:50 AM - donhuevo: I'm hearing there are goggles out now that will pan and tilt the camera based on your head movements
Aug 10, 2015 10:50 AM - Bill Monroe: ya.. illegal to use them while piloting though
Aug 10, 2015 10:50 AM - PeterkSharma: I flip burgers at the faa, they are going to get hammered
Aug 10, 2015 10:50 AM - Bill Monroe: FPV has always been illegal on RC
    Aug 10, 2015 10:50 AM - Mike Kelly: i like those 3d FPV goggles
Aug 10, 2015 10:50 AM - Mike Kelly: that must be one hell of an experience
Aug 10, 2015 10:51 AM - Bill Monroe: for the pilot, that is.. bystanders can use them
Aug 10, 2015 10:51 AM - JeffTheMess: if people keep doing what they do it will...
    Aug 10, 2015 10:51 AM - donhuevo: that's what I'm thinking
Aug 10, 2015 10:51 AM - Bill Monroe: but the pilot must always have eyes-on
Aug 10, 2015 10:51 AM - donhuevo: but with waypoints, it's possible to set the drone to fly out of your view
Aug 10, 2015 10:51 AM - PeterkSharma: They are talking about making all the drones operate at a single frequency band so planes can jam the shit out of em. And limiting the space to like 400 feet
    Aug 10, 2015 10:51 AM - Mike Kelly: lol a broom
    Aug 10, 2015 10:52 AM - JeffTheMess: ^ yeah lol
Aug 10, 2015 10:52 AM - PeterkSharma: Poor drone would just fall out of the air
Aug 10, 2015 10:52 AM - PeterkSharma: Bye bye drone
Aug 10, 2015 10:52 AM - Mike Kelly: also those drones that follow you are super cool
Aug 10, 2015 10:53 AM - Mike Kelly: i'm sure sports footing is gonna get super cool
Aug 10, 2015 10:53 AM - PeterkSharma: They charge them with microwaves so they never have to stop following you
Aug 10, 2015 10:53 AM - JeffTheMess: that won't happen unlicensed wifi can't be limited like that
Aug 10, 2015 10:54 AM - Bill Monroe: exactly Don.
Aug 10, 2015 10:54 AM - PeterkSharma: No wifi. The drone has to use a radio frequency to communicate with whatever is telling it to move around so you can just jam that freq
Aug 10, 2015 10:55 AM - PeterkSharma: They talking about having it set space around a plan. Like a omnidirectional antenna to make like a bubble around the plane
Aug 10, 2015 10:56 AM - PeterkSharma: Faa just cared about drones hitting the planes
    Aug 10, 2015 10:56 AM - bamhm182: [IMG]
Aug 10, 2015 10:56 AM - Mike Kelly: don't most drones run on the 2.4ghz band?
Aug 10, 2015 10:56 AM - Mike Kelly: maybe the 5ghz band as well
    Aug 10, 2015 10:56 AM - PeterkSharma: Idk
Aug 10, 2015 10:56 AM - PeterkSharma: That would make sense though
Aug 10, 2015 10:56 AM - bamhm182: Got the back half of my "PiBoy" printed and the controls together. Unfortunately the back half shifted while I was printing it and it threw off all my holes
Aug 10, 2015 10:57 AM - Bill Monroe: the tech used to control them requires more than one freq to be jammed.. plus the freq jumps around.. that's done so you can fly a bunch without worying about freq congestions like we did in the 79s
    Aug 10, 2015 10:57 AM - Bill Monroe: 70s
Aug 10, 2015 10:57 AM - bamhm182: I have enough time that I could print the front half, but that won't do me any good since I don't have enough time to also reprint the back half before leaving town for a few weeks. :/
Aug 10, 2015 10:57 AM - PeterkSharma: Yeah they do wide ban jamming. It's called jamming the"side bands"
Aug 10, 2015 10:58 AM - Mike Kelly: yeah you'd kill wifi if you did jamming on drones
Aug 10, 2015 10:58 AM - Mike Kelly: they use 2.4ghz because it's an open band
    Aug 10, 2015 10:58 AM - jbigler1986: THAT THING LOOKS HUGE
    Aug 10, 2015 10:58 AM - jbigler1986: damn caps lock
    Aug 10, 2015 10:58 AM - Mike Kelly: that's what she said
Aug 10, 2015 10:58 AM - PeterkSharma: No, we are talking about naming only around the airplane. They are going to jam the whole band everywhere.
    Aug 10, 2015 10:59 AM - bamhm182: Yeah, it is, haha
Aug 10, 2015 10:59 AM - PeterkSharma: Just over like 1k feet and around airports
Aug 10, 2015 10:59 AM - Mike Kelly: right but if you lived near an airport your wifi wouldn't work
Aug 10, 2015 10:59 AM - bamhm182: It's got a 5 inch screen and is by NO means pocket sized
Aug 10, 2015 10:59 AM - PeterkSharma: How did you print it? What side down?
Aug 10, 2015 10:59 AM - Bill Monroe: the ham guys here built a microwave-ish general coverage broadcaster.. brings down all RC within a fairly small cone of area
    Aug 10, 2015 11:00 AM - PeterkSharma: Yeah, that's just antenna theory
Aug 10, 2015 11:00 AM - jbigler1986: I figured don would beat you to that MK
    Aug 10, 2015 11:00 AM - Bill Monroe: looks like a bazooka
    Aug 10, 2015 11:00 AM - bamhm182: [IMG]
Aug 10, 2015 11:00 AM - Mike Kelly: i dunno i think it's silly to do frequency jamming
    Aug 10, 2015 11:00 AM - jbigler1986: yes. cancer please
    Aug 10, 2015 11:01 AM - donhuevo: sorry, I was on a call.
Aug 10, 2015 11:01 AM - Mike Kelly: heh, na EMF is such low radiation it's negligable
Aug 10, 2015 11:01 AM - PeterkSharma: I just spend the weekend doing this experiment. We made this huge wide band signal with like 100 channels or side and
    Aug 10, 2015 11:01 AM - PeterkSharma: Sideband*
Aug 10, 2015 11:02 AM - bamhm182: I printed it so the cavity was face up. Didn't want to use a metric ton of filament. I think my issue was that it pushed the bounds of my x axis since the bottom was on the same side as the x stepper
Aug 10, 2015 11:02 AM - bamhm182: I think it hit the limit switch once or twice and screwed it up
Aug 10, 2015 11:02 AM - Mike Kelly: yeah i'm underwhelmed by the robo volume
Aug 10, 2015 11:02 AM - Mike Kelly: especially since the heater is only 8.2"
    Aug 10, 2015 11:03 AM - jbigler1986: http://www.3ders.org//articles/2015...3d-printer-soon-to-launch-on-kickstarter.html say what
Aug 10, 2015 11:03 AM - PeterkSharma: Did you see the mod the guy made for the robo
Aug 10, 2015 11:03 AM - bamhm182: It works for most things I've ever tried to print, to be fair
Aug 10, 2015 11:03 AM - Mike Kelly: the beast robo?
    Aug 10, 2015 11:03 AM - PeterkSharma: Yesh
Aug 10, 2015 11:03 AM - PeterkSharma: Lots more build volume
Aug 10, 2015 11:03 AM - Mike Kelly: yeah i just would prefer either a fully heated surface or a 12x12 build plate
Aug 10, 2015 11:03 AM - Mike Kelly: like the bigbox
Aug 10, 2015 11:04 AM - PeterkSharma: I'm trying to draw out a 3 z stabiles rail that would go on the plastic case
    Aug 10, 2015 11:06 AM - bamhm182: Y'all see the MPCNC mods to make it a 3D printer?
    Aug 10, 2015 11:07 AM - bamhm182: Can't even imagine a ~$500 3d printer with any build volume you want
    Aug 10, 2015 11:07 AM - Mike Kelly: heh i did
Aug 10, 2015 11:07 AM - Mike Kelly: though you're pretty heigh limited on that imo
    Aug 10, 2015 11:08 AM - PeterkSharma: Mpcnc?
Aug 10, 2015 11:08 AM - bamhm182: Yeah, but 2"x2"x6' is still really freaking huge
Aug 10, 2015 11:08 AM - donhuevo: something like this Peter? [IMG]
    Aug 10, 2015 11:08 AM - bamhm182: Mostly Printed CNC, one sec
Aug 10, 2015 11:08 AM - bamhm182: Be warned though, if you follow this link, you're almost certainly going to decide you need one
    Aug 10, 2015 11:09 AM - Mike Kelly:
    Aug 10, 2015 11:10 AM - bamhm182: http://www.thingiverse.com/thing:790533
Aug 10, 2015 11:11 AM - daniel871: Yeah, having one of those as a 3d printer body would be fun.
Aug 10, 2015 11:13 AM - PeterkSharma: Are they hard to build?
Aug 10, 2015 11:14 AM - Mike Kelly: don't worry bam i'm already on it: [IMG]
Aug 10, 2015 11:14 AM - daniel871: I figure if it's rigid enough for a router mount and to withstand tool pressures, it can be made into a 3d printer. Just make it a Bowden feed.

Aug 10, 2015 11:19 AM - bamhm182: Would be pretty sweet. Trying to get an MPCNC for myself by the end of the year
Aug 10, 2015 11:19 AM - Mike Kelly: my goal is end of this month
Aug 10, 2015 11:21 AM - bamhm182: I have WAY too much on the credit card right now and am going to be out of town for the rest of the month, so that would be too soon for me. Interested to see how it turns out for you. I'm sure it won't be TOO much of a challenge for you
Aug 10, 2015 11:22 AM - bamhm182: By the way, MK, watched your dropbox video. Good job, tons of information that I would have found useful "back in the day"
Aug 10, 2015 11:22 AM - Mike Kelly: thanks, i thought that might have been you considering the time the comment was posted lol
Aug 10, 2015 11:22 AM - donhuevo: I don't know how I feel about the emt though. it's meant to be bent
Aug 10, 2015 11:23 AM - donhuevo: maybe black pipe?
Aug 10, 2015 11:23 AM - daniel871: I figure once I get the Robo dual tested out, I'll just work with that and save up until I can afford a Zmorph with all the accessories or something.
Aug 10, 2015 11:23 AM - PeterkSharma: How much are you into the mpcnc MK?
Aug 10, 2015 11:23 AM - Mike Kelly: you could use black pipe or galvanized
Aug 10, 2015 11:23 AM - daniel871: Or do the MPCNC with all of the various tool attachments.
Aug 10, 2015 11:24 AM - Mike Kelly: but i wouldn't want to use it on the center spans to keep inertia down
Aug 10, 2015 11:24 AM - Mike Kelly: mostly it's just because EMT is dirt cheap
    Aug 10, 2015 11:24 AM - Mike Kelly: liek 3.50 for 10ft vs 15 something for pipe
Aug 10, 2015 11:24 AM - Mike Kelly: you could very easily swap in some 3/4" pipe if you prefer that route
Aug 10, 2015 11:25 AM - bamhm182: Haha, yay random hours of sleep!
Aug 10, 2015 11:46 AM - daniel871: PVA or HIPS for support material?
    Aug 10, 2015 12:06 PM - Mike Kelly: HIPS
Aug 10, 2015 12:09 PM - Mike Kelly: i'm trying to get a sample of the scaffold that e3d is working on
    Aug 10, 2015 12:14 PM - jbigler1986: noooooooooooooooo
    Aug 10, 2015 12:15 PM - jbigler1986: boom
    Aug 10, 2015 12:28 PM - Mike Kelly: ?
    Aug 10, 2015 12:28 PM - daniel871: Oh crap.
Aug 10, 2015 12:29 PM - daniel871: I'm broke right now and can't invest in that BigBox kickstarter.
    Aug 10, 2015 12:29 PM - Mike Kelly: aw
Aug 10, 2015 12:29 PM - Mike Kelly: they need to hit 200kgbp
    Aug 10, 2015 12:29 PM - daniel871: Damnit. Roughly $1500 is a pretty sweet deal for everything.
Aug 10, 2015 12:30 PM - Mike Kelly: i don't really understand why the dual is 100 more than the pro
    Aug 10, 2015 12:31 PM - daniel871: They had a $46,870 goal, I think they're funded.
Aug 10, 2015 12:31 PM - Mike Kelly: they have a stretch goal there
    Aug 10, 2015 12:31 PM - daniel871: Maybe they're putting bondtechs on the extruder?
    Aug 10, 2015 12:32 PM - daniel871: :p
    Aug 10, 2015 12:32 PM - Mike Kelly: lol
    Aug 10, 2015 12:38 PM - jbigler1986: [IMG]
    Aug 10, 2015 12:38 PM - jbigler1986: damn
Aug 10, 2015 12:38 PM - Mike Kelly: i really don't need another printer but man i want it
    Aug 10, 2015 12:39 PM - jbigler1986: the overhangs are crazy too
Aug 10, 2015 12:43 PM - jbigler1986: they need $311000 for all of their upgrades they want to add
    Aug 10, 2015 12:43 PM - jbigler1986: So like 70k away
Aug 10, 2015 12:44 PM - daniel871: Yeah. I shared it on my local 3d printer facebook group.
    Aug 10, 2015 12:45 PM - jbigler1986: TR8 screws would be huge
Aug 10, 2015 12:45 PM - Mike Kelly: i'm deciding if i should go with lasercut acrylic or have a friend make me one
Aug 10, 2015 12:45 PM - Mike Kelly: since $150 is a lot to upgrade that
Aug 10, 2015 12:46 PM - Mike Kelly: can anyone tell if it uses the hobb goblin?
    Aug 10, 2015 12:47 PM - jbigler1986: the big box?
    Aug 10, 2015 12:48 PM - Mike Kelly: yes
Aug 10, 2015 1:11 PM - jbigler1986: hmmm. i don't like that drive gear. it's just like hobbed bolt. not good at fast speeds
Aug 10, 2015 1:27 PM - daniel871: I think I need to dremel the hercustruder just a little bit so the bearing can push in a little bit further. I've had a couple of print failures happen where a thin section of filament gets between the bearing and the gear and strips.
Aug 10, 2015 1:29 PM - daniel871: It's a very tiny amount though, which is what's frustrating. So close to being a perfect setup.
    Aug 10, 2015 1:31 PM - Mike Kelly: hmm
Aug 10, 2015 1:42 PM - daniel871: It looks like it's currently set to stop just short of touching an MK7/MK8 style drive gear, and the Tatsu is relieved back a little, so thin filament can be *just thin enough* to slip.
Aug 10, 2015 1:46 PM - daniel871: Clearing the stripped jam is a lot easier than the Wade setup at any rate. Just heat the hotend up again, pull the tensioner bearing off the filament, pull it out, cut about an inch off the leading end, re-feed and start another print.
Aug 10, 2015 1:46 PM - daniel871: The hobbed bolt would just about chew thru the filament, where the setup I have now only cuts a tiny sliver out, so it's easy to pull back.
Aug 10, 2015 1:47 PM - daniel871: "just about chew thru once it started slipping"
Aug 10, 2015 1:56 PM - daniel871: Hahahahaha. That "Blow Shit Up With Arnold" contest has a video with Bill Nye explaining how things explode on it now.

Aug 10, 2015 2:00 PM - Linda Caudell: Can someone point me in the right direction? I'm trying to print out a 1" square cube. It is off on the z axis by a 1/4 ". Is there a post that I might be able to read to find out how to fix it?
Aug 10, 2015 2:11 PM - Mike Kelly: whats your Z steps per mm
Aug 10, 2015 2:11 PM - Mike Kelly: also what are these archaic dimensions :)
Aug 10, 2015 2:14 PM - Mike Kelly: if it's supposed to be 25mm but it came out to around 19mm then it's unlikely that it's a firmware issue
Aug 10, 2015 2:16 PM - Linda Caudell: Actually, we did switch it over to mm but I mean close to 1". I have updated the firmware, though. Where do I find z steps per mm? Using Simplify3d
Aug 10, 2015 2:16 PM - Mike Kelly: chances are good it's either the Z threaded rods need lubrication and are sticking or more likely the fan cooling the stepper driver is off and the driver is overheating causing it to skip steps
Aug 10, 2015 2:17 PM - Mike Kelly: lifting up the printer on some feet is a good idea to improve air intake
Aug 10, 2015 2:18 PM - Linda Caudell: We just fixed the fan and it did improve the print out
Aug 10, 2015 2:18 PM - Linda Caudell: We also have lubricated the rods
Aug 10, 2015 2:28 PM - Mike Kelly: do you ever notice the motors not moving when it changes a layer
Aug 10, 2015 2:28 PM - Mike Kelly: print some lifter feet and make triple sure the bottom fan is running
Aug 10, 2015 2:29 PM - Linda Caudell: We'll have to pay more attention but I don't think so. We will try your suggestion of printing feeting and lifting the printer up. Thank you for your help. You're awesome!
Aug 10, 2015 2:57 PM - Mike Kelly: i really want to find the person that decided 1 MCFD should be 1000 Cubic Feet/Day and not kCFD
Aug 10, 2015 3:22 PM - Linda Caudell: I'm still trying to figure out why the United States thought it best to go with the measurements we do instead of what the rest of the world does.
Aug 10, 2015 3:31 PM - Mike Kelly: i think the number one reason is the cost of remarking all of our highways would be prohibitive
Aug 10, 2015 3:32 PM - Mike Kelly: besides that i can't think of a good reason to stick with it
Aug 10, 2015 3:48 PM - nonmindo: so i had a print running while i slept, just woke up, it printed with out issue, but when i slid my bed forward to clean it i saw this part and nut sitting on the back of the printer under the bed....no clue where it goes, any idea? https://www.dropbox.com/s/eek7g6kc0dlxl04/20150810_154216.jpg?dl=0
Aug 10, 2015 3:49 PM - nonmindo: ugh of course img didnt load....
    Aug 10, 2015 3:49 PM - nonmindo: https://www.dropbox.com/s/eek7g6kc0dlxl04/20150810_154216.jpg?dl=0
Aug 10, 2015 3:51 PM - nonmindo: i want to say it goes in the back right under the bed in the end of the carriage as a guide to hold the heat plate ribbon or something
Aug 10, 2015 3:54 PM - Mike Kelly: yeah can't hotlink from dropbox
Aug 10, 2015 3:54 PM - Mike Kelly: that part holds the wiring i believe
    Aug 10, 2015 3:55 PM - Mike Kelly: i'll be home in a second i can verify
Aug 10, 2015 3:58 PM - nonmindo: thanks, should be ok to print for a while without reinstalling it ya? mainly for stress relief im guessing...i couldnt find the screw that held it so ill have to wait till day off to figure out what size to get and go get it
Aug 10, 2015 4:04 PM - PeterkSharma: Mike you ever messed around with porolay?
Aug 10, 2015 4:04 PM - PeterkSharma: I have no idea what to print with it
Aug 10, 2015 4:13 PM - Mike Kelly: ok yeah i just verified nomindo
Aug 10, 2015 4:14 PM - Mike Kelly: it's used to hold the ribbon cable for strain relief
Aug 10, 2015 4:14 PM - Mike Kelly: mine wasn't even connected so yeah
    Aug 10, 2015 4:14 PM - Mike Kelly: i think a m4-10mm should work fine
Aug 10, 2015 4:14 PM - Mike Kelly: na peter i don't play with exotic filaments nearly as much as i'd like
Aug 10, 2015 4:14 PM - Mike Kelly: i get stuck in your position of not knowing what to use it for
Aug 10, 2015 4:21 PM - donhuevo: when in doubt, Yoda
    Aug 10, 2015 4:28 PM - jbigler1986: Yoda FTW
Aug 10, 2015 4:48 PM - nonmindo: @Mike thanks, ill see about attaching it later on....considering i bought the factory refurb, im actually happy thats the only thing thats "broken"

Aug 10, 2015 5:56 PM - bamhm182: My roommate is always trying to get me to play games with him. He picked up this for a group of us. Been having a pretty good time playing it
    Aug 10, 2015 6:33 PM - jbigler1986: Its kind of addicting
    Aug 10, 2015 7:27 PM - bamhm182: Apparently, haha
    Aug 10, 2015 7:28 PM - jbigler1986: This place did get quiet
Aug 10, 2015 7:28 PM - Mike Kelly: people lose interest after so long :)
Aug 10, 2015 7:29 PM - Mike Kelly: and mike's off having birthday fun
Aug 10, 2015 7:33 PM - Mike Kelly: [IMG] omg yes
Aug 10, 2015 7:36 PM - jbigler1986: Not gonna lie. Thats some glorious wiring
Aug 10, 2015 7:41 PM - bamhm182: Yeah it is, that is spectacular

    Aug 10, 2015 7:45 PM - Mike Kelly: it's so... clean
Aug 10, 2015 8:20 PM - jbigler1986: Yep. Of only my robo looked that clean. Lol
    Aug 10, 2015 8:25 PM - Mike Kelly: right?
    Aug 10, 2015 8:28 PM - bamhm182: I'm working on it, haha
Aug 10, 2015 8:29 PM - bamhm182: It's not going to looking anywhere near THAT clean, but once I get a chance, I'm going to redo the wiring
Aug 10, 2015 8:30 PM - bamhm182: Would have done it already, but my printer has been going damn near 24/7 these past few days. On the plus side, a majority of the prints have turned out well, with the cartridge slipping a little in the x direction twice, so I'd say my printer's fixed, with the exception of having to turn up the X just a hair
Aug 10, 2015 8:56 PM - Mike Kelly: really hope there's enough filament in this spool...
    Aug 10, 2015 8:58 PM - bamhm182: You got a scale?

Aug 11, 2015 5:05 AM - jbigler1986: it's honestly in her best interest to settle before the trial or else it's not going to look good for her with everything she has done

    Aug 11, 2015 5:30 AM - JeffTheMess: morning
Aug 11, 2015 5:34 AM - Mike Glass: I think I need a new ups, power flickered and my printer just stopped and looked at me funny.
Aug 11, 2015 5:35 AM - Bill Monroe: you must have some nasty power quality huh?
Aug 11, 2015 5:35 AM - JeffTheMess: Thats what happened to me
Aug 11, 2015 5:36 AM - Mike Glass: it was storming, but usually never have issues.
Aug 11, 2015 5:36 AM - JeffTheMess: (i guess my ups was an asshole)
Aug 11, 2015 5:38 AM - Mike Glass: this little triplitte is running all the computer, cable modem, DVR, netdrives, laptop, wireless, and the robo..lol
Aug 11, 2015 5:39 AM - Mike Glass: and a firewall with a voip phone.
Aug 11, 2015 5:46 AM - daniel871: Did you see the rig I put together for my Robo, MG?
    Aug 11, 2015 5:46 AM - Mike Glass: I did not daniel
Aug 11, 2015 5:47 AM - daniel871: Check my printer thread and look for the pic of the UPS setup.
    Aug 11, 2015 5:47 AM - daniel871: On the last page.
Aug 11, 2015 5:47 AM - JeffTheMess: whats the links

    Aug 11, 2015 5:49 AM - Mike Glass: kinda a small batterie..lol
Aug 11, 2015 5:49 AM - daniel871: Didn't get to play in the shop last night because of thunderstorm dumping buckets when I got home, but I'm curious how long that battery will run the Robo when the main power line is disconnected.
    Aug 11, 2015 5:49 AM - JeffTheMess: its cute
Aug 11, 2015 5:51 AM - daniel871: Amazon had a sale on batteries intended for use in building a home solar power setup, so I figured "why not use that battery on the UPS?".
Aug 11, 2015 5:52 AM - Mike Glass: printing piece 19 out of 85 for the puzzle chair.
Aug 11, 2015 5:52 AM - Mike Glass: how much was it?
    Aug 11, 2015 5:52 AM - daniel871: Somewhere around $100 back when I got it.
Aug 11, 2015 5:52 AM - JeffTheMess: how much longer will it take MG
    Aug 11, 2015 5:53 AM - daniel871: Which was a screaming deal for a 200AH battery.
Aug 11, 2015 5:54 AM - Bill Monroe: i use what looks like the same battery in my solar rig
Aug 11, 2015 5:55 AM - Mike Glass: Jeff, now that im on vacation I should be able to get most of it done within a few weeks, well at least printed out.
Aug 11, 2015 5:56 AM - daniel871: Hopefully being intended as a solar powered battery means it'll last a good long while before needing replacement.
Aug 11, 2015 5:56 AM - Mike Glass: Figure 3-4 hours a piece, thats at 80mm/s 22% infill some of the pieces are 1 1/2 inches thick
Aug 11, 2015 5:57 AM - Bill Monroe: it more about the plate design that is more resistant to corrosion and tolerates steady discharge
Aug 11, 2015 5:57 AM - JeffTheMess: cant wait to see it, (and see how much weight it can take)
Aug 11, 2015 5:59 AM - daniel871: I'm trying to figure out what 200 amp hour translates into in terms of the Robo running full-tilt.
Aug 11, 2015 5:59 AM - Mike Glass: im not sure, but I bet at least 200lbs, its fairly big at 19 1/2" wide.
    Aug 11, 2015 6:00 AM - JeffTheMess: nice
Aug 11, 2015 6:02 AM - Bill Monroe: for that you gotta put a probe on the line to see what it's using

    Aug 11, 2015 7:50 AM - Mike Kelly: haha
Aug 11, 2015 7:51 AM - Mike Kelly: was that really just a giant pile of boulders
Aug 11, 2015 7:51 AM - Mike Glass: pretty much, but you hit them with a hammer and the ring, pretty cool.
    Aug 11, 2015 7:52 AM - Mike Kelly: nice

Aug 11, 2015 8:22 AM - Mike Glass: what is your z offset at?
Aug 11, 2015 8:22 AM - daniel871: There should be an M565 Z value near the beginning of the program file you're running. You basically adjust that.
    Aug 11, 2015 8:22 AM - PeterkSharma: in marlin?
Aug 11, 2015 8:22 AM - daniel871: And depending on what software you use will determine where you make the final change so that all new programs have it.
    Aug 11, 2015 8:23 AM - daniel871: No. Your slicer software.
    Aug 11, 2015 8:23 AM - PeterkSharma: cura
Aug 11, 2015 8:23 AM - Mike Glass: let start on what slicer you using

    Aug 11, 2015 8:23 AM - Mike Glass: in the tabe start/end-Gcode there should be a M565 z-. something
    Aug 11, 2015 8:24 AM - daniel871: Hang on, screenshot coming.
    Aug 11, 2015 8:25 AM - Mike Glass: Mine is M565 Z-0.68

Aug 11, 2015 8:27 AM - daniel871: But it's basically the same thing, you edit the starting Gcode tab.

    Aug 11, 2015 8:28 AM - PeterkSharma: no m565
Aug 11, 2015 8:28 AM - daniel871: It should be there immediately after the G28 line.
Aug 11, 2015 8:29 AM - daniel871: If you copy the screenshot I posted you should be in good shape.
Aug 11, 2015 8:30 AM - daniel871: The Robo doesn't need the two G28 lines since G28 on the Robo has it home everything out anyway.
Aug 11, 2015 8:31 AM - daniel871: (The semicolon is just there to comment out what isn't needed so you can see what gets removed instead of it just not being there any more)
Aug 11, 2015 8:34 AM - daniel871: Good grief. That "Tasks of Robo" thread makes me feel like I'm being asked to so somebody else's homework.
    Aug 11, 2015 8:35 AM - daniel871: to do
Aug 11, 2015 8:35 AM - PeterkSharma: i hate this laptop. keyboard broke, now the usb ports didnas well

    Aug 11, 2015 8:36 AM - PeterkSharma: 1 year
Aug 11, 2015 8:36 AM - PeterkSharma: waist of money
    Aug 11, 2015 8:36 AM - daniel871: Who built it? HP?
    Aug 11, 2015 8:36 AM - PeterkSharma: ya
Aug 11, 2015 8:37 AM - PeterkSharma: sold at costco
    Aug 11, 2015 8:37 AM - daniel871: Should've known, they're notorious for crappy computer builds.
Aug 11, 2015 8:37 AM - daniel871: They're like Gateway or whatever brand Walmart sells when not selling HP.

Aug 11, 2015 8:38 AM - daniel871: Because nothing says "This PC is a pile of junk" like something that brings to mind some of the dumbest animals on the planet.

    Aug 11, 2015 8:45 AM - daniel871: Looks good, give it a shot.
Aug 11, 2015 8:45 AM - daniel871: I don't know if multiple G28 commands hurt anything or not, but the offset code looks good.
    Aug 11, 2015 8:46 AM - PeterkSharma: thanks, t i just added the m656

    Aug 11, 2015 8:56 AM - Mike Glass: 15K. holy hell
    Aug 11, 2015 8:56 AM - Mike Kelly: http://imotionsglobal.com/
Aug 11, 2015 8:57 AM - donhuevo: they were testing hands-free vs hands full cell phone conversations while driving
Aug 11, 2015 8:57 AM - Mike Kelly: the imotions probably
Aug 11, 2015 8:57 AM - donhuevo: the result was drivers were just as distracted and killed just as many virtual cyclists
    Aug 11, 2015 8:57 AM - JeffTheMess: http://www.instructables.com/id/Compact-CNC3D-Printer/
Aug 11, 2015 8:58 AM - Mike Kelly: yeah mostly because it's the conversation that causes distraction
Aug 11, 2015 8:58 AM - Mike Kelly: where do people find these old cd drives
    Aug 11, 2015 8:59 AM - JeffTheMess: dumpster diving?

Aug 11, 2015 9:01 AM - Mike Kelly: maybe i can make some kind of printer if i combine the 2d printer/scanner i just tore apart and a cd drive...
Aug 11, 2015 9:01 AM - Mike Kelly: also inkjet printers are nasty inside
Aug 11, 2015 9:01 AM - donhuevo: just have some dict tape and a tube sock handy
Aug 11, 2015 9:01 AM - Mike Kelly: i can't believe how much ink they just suck out
Aug 11, 2015 9:03 AM - Mike Glass: how much the waste is crazy
Aug 11, 2015 9:04 AM - Mike Kelly: yeah i had no idea there was literally a vacuum pump inside of the printer to just suck ink out
    Aug 11, 2015 9:05 AM - Mike Kelly: makes me glad i bought a B&W laser
Aug 11, 2015 9:07 AM - Mike Glass: Here is what you need MK another option for the cnc. http://www.amazon.com/DEWALT-DWP611-Torque-Variable-Compact/dp/B0048EFUV8
    Aug 11, 2015 9:09 AM - Mike Kelly: that's nice
Aug 11, 2015 9:09 AM - Mike Kelly: you think it can really support that?'
Aug 11, 2015 9:13 AM - Mike Kelly: http://denver.craigslist.org/tls/5134135273.html what do you think about this instead
Aug 11, 2015 9:14 AM - donhuevo: how could you not pick that up?
Aug 11, 2015 9:15 AM - Mike Kelly: email sent...
Aug 11, 2015 9:18 AM - Mike Glass: make sure the houseing for the bearings are metal, they can start to melt as they are not meant to run a long time.
Aug 11, 2015 9:18 AM - Mike Kelly: got an example picture?
Aug 11, 2015 9:21 AM - jbigler1986: man i wish i had kept all of my xbox 360 disc drives i had. I literally had like 40 of them
Aug 11, 2015 9:21 AM - Mike Glass: the dewalt is metal
Aug 11, 2015 9:21 AM - Mike Glass: not sure about the rigid
Aug 11, 2015 9:25 AM - Mike Kelly: maybe i should take a trip to home depot to look at it
Aug 11, 2015 9:28 AM - Mike Kelly: mike do you happen to have an example picture?
Aug 11, 2015 9:29 AM - Mike Glass: no, was just reading some stuff on one of the cnc forums
Aug 11, 2015 9:29 AM - Mike Glass: They recommended the dewalt over the newer colts
Aug 11, 2015 9:31 AM - PeterkSharma: couldnt you just get a high rpm little motor and 3d print something that would hold the router bits
Aug 11, 2015 9:32 AM - Mike Glass: see what TIR specs you can find on the rigid
Aug 11, 2015 9:32 AM - PeterkSharma: make your own compact router. its just a motor and a bit
    Aug 11, 2015 9:35 AM - Mike Kelly: hmm
    Aug 11, 2015 9:35 AM - Mike Kelly: what's TIR?
Aug 11, 2015 9:38 AM - Mike Kelly: are these bearings visible from the exterior?
Aug 11, 2015 9:38 AM - Mike Glass: the runout
Aug 11, 2015 9:38 AM - Mike Glass: Spindle Runout (TIR) - should be less than or equal to 2% of the tool's diameter (absolute maximum).
Aug 11, 2015 9:39 AM - Mike Glass: On mine they are
Aug 11, 2015 9:41 AM - Mike Kelly: possible to get a picture of yours?
    Aug 11, 2015 9:42 AM - donhuevo: you want a picture of mg's tool's diameter?
    Aug 11, 2015 9:42 AM - donhuevo: creepy
    Aug 11, 2015 9:42 AM - Mike Glass: [IMG]
    Aug 11, 2015 9:44 AM - jbigler1986: hey i don't judge. whatever makes yo happy
Aug 11, 2015 9:44 AM - Mike Kelly: so the whole base is metal then?
Aug 11, 2015 9:45 AM - Mike Glass: lol yes
Aug 11, 2015 9:47 AM - Mike Glass: I dont think that one on CL is metal
Aug 11, 2015 9:48 AM - Mike Kelly: looks all plastic to me
Aug 11, 2015 9:48 AM - Mike Glass: The older models were metal
Aug 11, 2015 9:48 AM - jbigler1986: any steppers powerful enough? or just not high enough rpm
Aug 11, 2015 9:49 AM - Mike Glass: I haven't seen anybody using that model for any cnc in the forums, so was just making sure you dont get a POS
    Aug 11, 2015 9:50 AM - Mike Glass: steppers?
Aug 11, 2015 9:50 AM - jbigler1986: to build your own. MK can do it
    Aug 11, 2015 9:50 AM - Mike Glass: stepper for a spindle?
    Aug 11, 2015 9:51 AM - jbigler1986: doesn't have to be a stepper
Aug 11, 2015 9:52 AM - jbigler1986: just saying. time to build your own router for it
Aug 11, 2015 9:52 AM - Mike Glass: that would be dumb when you can buy one with a speed controller built in, would cost more than what you could buy off the shelf router for.
Aug 11, 2015 9:53 AM - donhuevo: mg, I'm building my own puzzle... [IMG]
Aug 11, 2015 9:53 AM - jbigler1986: no different than building anything else yourself. it's the enjoyment you get out of it

Aug 11, 2015 1:10 PM - PeterkSharma: yeah the enclosure
Aug 11, 2015 1:11 PM - PeterkSharma: I wonder if it stays warmer in there because its closed off and cools slower..... maybe less warping
Aug 11, 2015 1:11 PM - daniel871: I ended up putting a bunch of Loc-Tite Glass Clue around all of the seams on mine.
Aug 11, 2015 1:11 PM - PeterkSharma: yeah sealed it off?

    Aug 11, 2015 1:12 PM - daniel871: More abrasive materials.
Aug 11, 2015 1:12 PM - daniel871: I don't know that it's worth getting unless you're going to extrude abrasive filler materials all the time though.
Aug 11, 2015 1:13 PM - PeterkSharma: I just picked up some magenetic iron and carbon fiber...
Aug 11, 2015 1:17 PM - PeterkSharma: think they are pretty abrasive?
Aug 11, 2015 1:19 PM - daniel871: Not as much as the Bronze/Copper/Stainless fill filaments.
    Aug 11, 2015 1:21 PM - PeterkSharma: rgr
Aug 11, 2015 1:23 PM - PeterkSharma: man your printer looks nice. how do you like the bowden
Aug 11, 2015 1:24 PM - daniel871: It's pretty neat so far. Still printing replacement feet and a better LCD holder before I move on to tackling actually dual-extruding.
Aug 11, 2015 1:25 PM - daniel871: Kind of hard to see in that pic, but there are two bowden tubes coming out. Extruder/Hotend #2 is basically unused right now.
Aug 11, 2015 1:26 PM - PeterkSharma: Yeah, I want to get into dual but I have so much to do before that. Printing LCD back case right now. and want to do the wirechain mod

Aug 11, 2015 1:37 PM - Bill Monroe: Pololou shipped the nuts already.. nice
    Aug 11, 2015 1:38 PM - Bill Monroe: I used .4 but it's all about what you're printing.
Aug 11, 2015 1:49 PM - Mike Kelly: peter the enclosures only really important if you're printing ABS or other high warp materials like nylon
Aug 11, 2015 1:49 PM - Mike Kelly: it traps the heat from the bed and eliminates external drafts
Aug 11, 2015 1:49 PM - PeterkSharma: yeah figured as much

Aug 12, 2015 2:50 AM - daniel871: T-glase will work, but isn't dishwasher safe. Someone on here made some cups with XT and I think BluPrint will also work (if you come back and read this in the archives).

    Aug 12, 2015 6:05 AM - jbigler1986: morning don
    Aug 12, 2015 6:05 AM - donhuevo: hey fellas
Aug 12, 2015 6:07 AM - jbigler1986: hex heatbreak can be removed from the heatsink
    Aug 12, 2015 6:07 AM - jbigler1986: [IMG]
Aug 12, 2015 6:07 AM - donhuevo: can it be put back in?
Aug 12, 2015 6:08 AM - jbigler1986: yeah. there is a set screw holding it in
Aug 12, 2015 6:08 AM - JeffTheMess: really, never saw it
    Aug 12, 2015 6:09 AM - jbigler1986: it's towards the bottom of the heatsink
Aug 12, 2015 6:09 AM - JeffTheMess: wait, I was able to rotate the heat sink from the heat break, how was that possible?
Aug 12, 2015 6:09 AM - jbigler1986: the set screw keeps it from moving up and down
    Aug 12, 2015 6:10 AM - jbigler1986: [IMG]
Aug 12, 2015 6:11 AM - JeffTheMess: yeah but i was rotating it? ( another reason probably why mine is damaged)
    Aug 12, 2015 6:14 AM - jbigler1986: it's fine if you can rotate it.
Aug 12, 2015 6:15 AM - jbigler1986: see the groove in the 1st pic? the set screw will keep it from moving up or down but you will be able to rotate it unless you tighten it like crazy
Aug 12, 2015 6:18 AM - JeffTheMess: please dont convince me to try again while i wait to buy my e3d :)
    Aug 12, 2015 6:21 AM - WheresWaldo: Morning everyone

Aug 12, 2015 6:28 AM - PeterkSharma: anyone have any experience with HIPS?
    Aug 12, 2015 6:28 AM - JeffTheMess: morning folks
    Aug 12, 2015 6:28 AM - JeffTheMess: I think dan and mike k
    Aug 12, 2015 6:33 AM - jbigler1986: i haven't messed with exotic filament. no need to yet
    Aug 12, 2015 6:34 AM - Bill Monroe: back
    Aug 12, 2015 6:39 AM - daniel871: I haven't decided whether to use PVA or HIPS yet.
    Aug 12, 2015 6:39 AM - jbigler1986: use the water soluable one
Aug 12, 2015 6:39 AM - daniel871: PVA dissolves in water, but I figure that means you have to use if fairly quickly after opening a spool.
Aug 12, 2015 6:40 AM - daniel871: No actual numbers on how rapidly it dissolves though, so it may have to sit in a bucket of water for a while after printing.
Aug 12, 2015 6:40 AM - daniel871: Or in one of those fancy part cleaner bins that circulates the fluid while the part is immersed in it.
Aug 12, 2015 6:40 AM - Bill Monroe: PVA can be a challenge
Aug 12, 2015 6:41 AM - JeffTheMess: get some damprid in a container with it keep humidity low
Aug 12, 2015 6:41 AM - Bill Monroe: I made a cartridge to hold my spooled, filled it with dessicant
Aug 12, 2015 6:42 AM - Bill Monroe: the dishwasher works good for dissolving it
Aug 12, 2015 6:43 AM - Bill Monroe: HIPS rocks for XT and ABS.. it actually peels away, dont always need to use solvents
Aug 12, 2015 6:44 AM - daniel871: Do you have to worry about PVA damaging the dishwasher?
Aug 12, 2015 6:44 AM - Bill Monroe: naw.. you dont even know it was in there.. but I wouldnt use it while doing dishes :)
    Aug 12, 2015 6:45 AM - daniel871: Haha.

Aug 12, 2015 6:50 AM - Bill Monroe: I use the pellets in my safes, and used them to make dry air pumps for the engines in my planes and Model A
Aug 12, 2015 6:52 AM - Bill Monroe: try to find the orange pellets
    Aug 12, 2015 6:52 AM - Mike Glass: Morning
    Aug 12, 2015 6:52 AM - Bill Monroe: MG
Aug 12, 2015 6:53 AM - daniel871: Stupid thunderstorms every evening are hindering my printing progress.
Aug 12, 2015 6:53 AM - Mike Glass: Think the ones I have in my safe are pink then turn blue when the need to be recharged in an oven
Aug 12, 2015 6:53 AM - Bill Monroe: send them my way
    Aug 12, 2015 6:53 AM - daniel871: Would if I could.
Aug 12, 2015 6:53 AM - Bill Monroe: ya? I had some that were blue and turned pink.
Aug 12, 2015 6:53 AM - Mike Glass: oh maybe I have it backwards, maybe I should check..lol
Aug 12, 2015 6:54 AM - Bill Monroe: but those have cobalt and are carcinagenic. the orange ones replaced them
Aug 12, 2015 6:54 AM - Mike Glass: not that I have any issues with humidity here.
Aug 12, 2015 6:54 AM - Mike Glass: was more for my stamp collection then the guns.
Aug 12, 2015 7:00 AM - Bill Monroe: I have both in the safes.. in fact, some of my guns have stamps on them! :)
    Aug 12, 2015 7:01 AM - Bill Monroe: <tax stamps, that is>
Aug 12, 2015 7:02 AM - Bill Monroe: this part of the year we get storms up from Mexican Hurricanes.. the dryers have been kicking on almost daily

    Aug 12, 2015 8:08 AM - Mike Kelly: i'd just use this firmware: http://guide.robo3d.com/Wiki/ROBO_3D_Firmware_Release_Notes
Aug 12, 2015 8:10 AM - exelsion: with this one i have probleme on z axis
    Aug 12, 2015 8:14 AM - exelsion: https://vid.me/FO6A
Aug 12, 2015 8:16 AM - Mike Kelly: firmware would have affect on that
    Aug 12, 2015 8:17 AM - Mike Kelly: that's mechanical
Aug 12, 2015 8:17 AM - Mike Kelly: or electrical
    Aug 12, 2015 8:18 AM - exelsion: witch part you think ?
Aug 12, 2015 8:19 AM - donhuevo: something (most likely wiring) is getting in between the carriage and the idler end
Aug 12, 2015 8:20 AM - Mike Kelly: here's the process I usually suggest: 1) make sure your z threaded rods have lubrication 2) verify nothing is getting caught preventing movement 3) Verify your ramps cooling fan on the underside of the printer is running 4) add something to lift the printer off the ground to improve fan flow
Aug 12, 2015 8:21 AM - Mike Kelly: if those don't work then: 5) remove the bottom cover and verify the Z axis plug is properly secured and no wires are getting pulled out 6) adjust the stepper driver current
    Aug 12, 2015 8:21 AM - exelsion: ok thank i test that ;)
Aug 12, 2015 8:23 AM - jbigler1986: I would move number 3 to number 1. That damn fan being unplugged has caused a lot of people a lot of headache
Aug 12, 2015 8:29 AM - exelsion: oki all if i find some thing i open topic thanks all.
    Aug 12, 2015 8:31 AM - jbigler1986: oh and good morning MK
Aug 12, 2015 8:38 AM - donhuevo: sorry, I thought the x axis was the issue. my bad
    Aug 12, 2015 8:39 AM - daniel871: I like that "Can I install the E3D v6 without a bunch of nonsense work" thread.
Aug 12, 2015 8:39 AM - daniel871: "Are there any shortcuts I can take that won't ruin everything?"

    Aug 12, 2015 8:47 AM - exelsion: how to fix it ?
Aug 12, 2015 8:59 AM - donhuevo: had those heat sinks fallen off your stepper drivers? the picture is kinda fuzzy
Aug 12, 2015 9:00 AM - mark tomlinson: SuperGlue (cyanoacrylate)
Aug 12, 2015 9:01 AM - exelsion: yes that heat sinks fallen :(
    Aug 12, 2015 9:01 AM - JeffTheMess: ouch!
Aug 12, 2015 9:01 AM - exelsion: mark sure because there are a past one it ?

Aug 12, 2015 9:05 AM - donhuevo: do they even still exist?
Aug 12, 2015 9:06 AM - daniel871: They do, but good luck actually finding anything that isn't a prepaid phone or knock-off tablet.
Aug 12, 2015 9:06 AM - JeffTheMess: as rare as holographic charizard
Aug 12, 2015 9:06 AM - daniel871: At least at the ones I know are still around.

    Aug 12, 2015 9:24 AM - jbigler1986: how is the carriage going
Aug 12, 2015 9:24 AM - donhuevo: I saw the HfnC's on exelsion's printer and thought that now might be a good time to upgrade
Aug 12, 2015 9:24 AM - donhuevo: carriage isn't finalized yet. still working out the probe and radial blower placement
Aug 12, 2015 9:25 AM - donhuevo: the thing is tiny
Aug 12, 2015 9:25 AM - jbigler1986: you should use the sensor instead of mechanical
    Aug 12, 2015 9:25 AM - donhuevo: what sensor?
    Aug 12, 2015 9:25 AM - jbigler1986: let me find it

Aug 12, 2015 9:27 AM - exelsion: hum Copperfield out of this body ^^
Aug 12, 2015 9:27 AM - donhuevo: I don't know how well super glue conducts heat. maybe jbweld would do well because it has some iron in it
Aug 12, 2015 9:28 AM - jbigler1986: damnit. i saw it the other day. also the bigboxprinter is proably going to be adding it
    Aug 12, 2015 9:28 AM - jbigler1986: Mk you around

    Aug 12, 2015 9:38 AM - jbigler1986: do it don
    Aug 12, 2015 9:39 AM - jbigler1986: reproducibility is generally +/- 1 microstep
Aug 12, 2015 9:39 AM - donhuevo: seems like that guy is the one making them and they're only for the duet board?
    Aug 12, 2015 9:41 AM - jbigler1986: i don't think so. I could be wrong though
Aug 12, 2015 9:42 AM - donhuevo: the probe servo will be way easier to fit then the 5015 blower
Aug 12, 2015 9:42 AM - jbigler1986: mdcompositi can I use it on ramps 1.4? Yes you can, see section "Connecting to other electronics" in the instructions at [miscsolutions.wordpress.com].

Aug 12, 2015 10:05 AM - jbigler1986: i wish they show it actually doing stuff more instead of just talking
    Aug 12, 2015 10:06 AM - JeffTheMess: yeah
Aug 12, 2015 10:07 AM - JeffTheMess: we need a heated bed with neo magnets for connections to pop off easily out the printer
Aug 12, 2015 10:08 AM - jbigler1986: yep. the bed not being able to remove it sucks
Aug 12, 2015 10:13 AM - donhuevo: thought you pulled the trigger on the printrbot
Aug 12, 2015 10:13 AM - donhuevo: or the hictop
    Aug 12, 2015 10:13 AM - donhuevo: or both
Aug 12, 2015 10:20 AM - Mike Kelly: finally back
Aug 12, 2015 10:34 AM - jim3Dbot: If you want to use the non-adhesive type thermal paste, apply the thermal paste....very thin layer..its designed to fill in the almost microscopic voids in the plastic, ceramic or metal. After application.....use a toothpick to apply RTV silicon rubber around the perimeter of the sink to ic package...12hrs you are golden.......
Aug 12, 2015 10:39 AM - Mike Glass: whats up lurkers
Aug 12, 2015 10:40 AM - Mike Kelly: how goes it
Aug 12, 2015 10:41 AM - Mike Glass: Hey Mike, sucks cant find a stupid collet in this town for 1/8 bits
    Aug 12, 2015 10:42 AM - Mike Kelly: boo
    Aug 12, 2015 10:42 AM - Mike Kelly: i ordered that dewalt
Aug 12, 2015 10:42 AM - Mike Kelly: the CL guy didn't even respond
    Aug 12, 2015 10:43 AM - jbigler1986: MK https://miscsolutions.wordpress.com/mini-height-sensor-board/
Aug 12, 2015 10:43 AM - Mike Glass: I ordered one from a company, they no longer make it... so looks like precisions bits for around $50
Aug 12, 2015 10:43 AM - Mike Kelly: right jb
Aug 12, 2015 10:43 AM - jbigler1986: get on it. let me know it works :D
    Aug 12, 2015 10:44 AM - Mike Kelly: haha
Aug 12, 2015 10:44 AM - Mike Kelly: i'll ask sanjay to include one
Aug 12, 2015 10:44 AM - Mike Kelly: he was saying they were getting +-15 micron repeatibility
    Aug 12, 2015 10:45 AM - jbigler1986: horrible
    Aug 12, 2015 10:45 AM - jbigler1986: jk
Aug 12, 2015 10:45 AM - Mike Kelly: but he said there might have also been some measurement error on their motion system
Aug 12, 2015 10:46 AM - jbigler1986: on the forum the said they were getting +/- 1 micron repeatibility
Aug 12, 2015 10:46 AM - Mike Kelly: that's way better than you'd ever need
Aug 12, 2015 10:48 AM - Mike Kelly: here's what he told me: "It looks for an equal intensity from the two LEDs, which makes it extremely repeatable +/- 0.015 in our experience, but that could be error in the motion system or the board, impossible to tell, but effectively it's more than good enough"
    Aug 12, 2015 10:49 AM - jbigler1986: yeah. +/- 15 is way more than enough
Aug 12, 2015 10:49 AM - Mike Kelly: sweet my black abs should be showing up today so hopefully i can finish printing the MPCNC
Aug 12, 2015 10:49 AM - Mike Kelly: i still feel like i printed those pieces though and they're missing
    Aug 12, 2015 11:22 AM - daniel871: The dog ate them.
Aug 12, 2015 11:24 AM - Mike Glass: buried in the back yard with the bones
Aug 12, 2015 11:26 AM - daniel871: I've got a few rolls of ABS coming in today as well.
    Aug 12, 2015 11:26 AM - JeffTheMess: amazing...
Aug 12, 2015 11:27 AM - Mike Glass: Mike I found another company that makes the collet, comes with the nut as well for $28
Aug 12, 2015 11:27 AM - daniel871: JustABS. Figure if they're as good as JustPLA I'll be happy with it. :p'
Aug 12, 2015 11:28 AM - Mike Glass: I havent tried their abs yet.
Aug 12, 2015 11:29 AM - daniel871: I'll be using it for the two-color frog print test, so you'll see how it goes if nothing crazy happens to stop me from playing with the printer this weekend.
Aug 12, 2015 11:29 AM - Mike Glass: I do have a roll of clear abs, forgot about that, havent tried it yet
Aug 12, 2015 11:33 AM - daniel871: I've been pretty happy with the success rate of my prints since doing the leadscrew/dual bowden upgrade.
    Aug 12, 2015 11:33 AM - daniel871: Even if I haven't actually done a proper dual extrusion print yet.
Aug 12, 2015 11:35 AM - Mike Glass: Im super happy with my lead screws, prints perfect and no autolevel issues, been printing nonstop for the last 2 weeks.
Aug 12, 2015 11:37 AM - Mike Glass: Part 24 printing out of 85 so far.
Aug 12, 2015 1:06 PM - Mike Kelly: i feel like abs quality is so variable it's best to go a bit higher quality on it
    Aug 12, 2015 2:03 PM - donhuevo: ABfnS
    Aug 12, 2015 2:03 PM - Mike Kelly: http://forum.e3d-online.com/viewtopic.php?f=13&t=379 this is cool
Aug 12, 2015 2:06 PM - Mike Kelly: do you think they made a bolt or threaded stud with a circular 8mm OD
Aug 12, 2015 2:07 PM - Mike Kelly: like an M8 bolt but precisely 8mm
    Aug 12, 2015 2:08 PM - donhuevo: wow. dunno
Aug 12, 2015 2:09 PM - Mike Kelly: seems like something you'd have to custom machine
Aug 12, 2015 2:09 PM - donhuevo: what's the robo hob bolt measure?

Aug 12, 2015 2:09 PM - Mike Kelly: they're M8 so the non threaded portion of the bolt is around 7.8-7.9
    Aug 12, 2015 2:09 PM - donhuevo: isn't that portion of the bolt in a 608zz?
Aug 12, 2015 2:09 PM - Mike Kelly: yeah but there's some slop
Aug 12, 2015 2:10 PM - donhuevo: so thread a chunk of smooth rod?
    Aug 12, 2015 2:10 PM - Mike Kelly: that's basically what i want
Aug 12, 2015 2:10 PM - Mike Kelly: just curious if something of that sort exists already
Aug 12, 2015 2:11 PM - donhuevo: if I was looking for an odd bit of hardware, I'd be asking you first
    Aug 12, 2015 2:11 PM - Mike Kelly: yeah
Aug 12, 2015 2:11 PM - Mike Kelly: it seems too specialized
Aug 12, 2015 2:12 PM - donhuevo: look around the skating world
    Aug 12, 2015 2:12 PM - donhuevo: they can't have slop
Aug 12, 2015 2:23 PM - Mike Kelly: i think the problem with a truck axle is it's too long
    Aug 12, 2015 2:24 PM - donhuevo: http://www.filastruder.com/products/hobb-goblin-8mm-hobbed-shaft-kit
Aug 12, 2015 2:24 PM - donhuevo: they don't mention the actual shaft diameter though
    Aug 12, 2015 2:25 PM - Mike Kelly: http://wiki.e3d-online.com/images/e/ec/M-HOBB-v2-M8_(Edition_1).png
    Aug 12, 2015 2:25 PM - Mike Kelly: 8mm
Aug 12, 2015 2:25 PM - Mike Kelly: i should ask sanjay then
Aug 12, 2015 2:26 PM - donhuevo: would that fit your bill?
    Aug 12, 2015 2:33 PM - Mike Kelly: that's what i'm looking for but i don't need the hobbing
Aug 12, 2015 2:34 PM - Mike Kelly: i want to make a gregs wade style extruder but use the bondtech for the hobbing
    Aug 12, 2015 2:42 PM - donhuevo: gotcha
Aug 12, 2015 2:42 PM - donhuevo: one hand: source an impossible-to-find part. the other hand: buy a geared stepper
Aug 12, 2015 2:43 PM - Mike Kelly: yeah i was hoping it would be a cheaper solution
Aug 12, 2015 2:43 PM - Mike Kelly: but if you're paying $15 for a machined stud it's not really worth it
Aug 12, 2015 2:43 PM - donhuevo: how well would the bondtech fit a geared nema11?
    Aug 12, 2015 2:44 PM - Mike Kelly: the shaft is 8mm
Aug 12, 2015 2:45 PM - donhuevo: looks like the 11's geared shaft is 6. dangit.
    Aug 12, 2015 3:04 PM - Mike Kelly: http://www.amazon.com/Polished-Fini...&qid=1439416444&sr=8-3&keywords=8mm+drill+rod isn't there usually an 8mm option here?
    Aug 12, 2015 3:06 PM - donhuevo: usually
Aug 12, 2015 3:08 PM - Mike Glass: looks like the stuff they sell at home depot
Aug 12, 2015 3:13 PM - donhuevo: are you looking for a small chunck to try and thread?
Aug 12, 2015 3:16 PM - Mike Kelly: yeah i just don't want to try and die cut hardened steel
Aug 12, 2015 3:16 PM - Mike Kelly: so getting something close to 8mm in a stainless or regular steel would be best for stock
Aug 12, 2015 3:17 PM - Mike Kelly: my machinist might just make it so he has something to do
Aug 12, 2015 3:17 PM - donhuevo: I have some chunks but they're all hardened
    Aug 12, 2015 3:17 PM - donhuevo: even better
    Aug 12, 2015 3:20 PM - jbigler1986: what have i been missing
Aug 12, 2015 3:20 PM - Mike Kelly: just gotta find suitable stock
    Aug 12, 2015 3:21 PM - Mike Kelly: greg's wade style bondtech v2 extruder
    Aug 12, 2015 3:21 PM - jbigler1986: ?
Aug 12, 2015 3:21 PM - Mike Kelly: so instead of a geared stepper driver you'd use a greg's wade style gearing
Aug 12, 2015 3:21 PM - Mike Kelly: then instead of hobbing the 8mm bolt you'd attach the bondtech to the 8mm bolt
Aug 12, 2015 3:22 PM - Mike Kelly: and put the geared idler in the idler
    Aug 12, 2015 3:22 PM - jbigler1986: gotcha
Aug 12, 2015 3:23 PM - jbigler1986: did you see the drive gear on the tank extruder?
Aug 12, 2015 3:23 PM - Mike Kelly: http://www.thingiverse.com/thing:845513 then some kinda setup like this for dual
Aug 12, 2015 3:23 PM - Mike Kelly: doesn't he use the printrbot one on that?
    Aug 12, 2015 3:23 PM - jbigler1986: it's like the bontech
    Aug 12, 2015 3:24 PM - Mike Kelly: http://printrbot.com/shop/gear-head-extruder-v0-01/ yeah this thing
Aug 12, 2015 3:24 PM - jbigler1986: yeah. they gear together like the bondtech does
    Aug 12, 2015 3:26 PM - jbigler1986:
Aug 12, 2015 3:28 PM - Mike Kelly: yeah i like that one
Aug 12, 2015 3:28 PM - Mike Kelly: hasn't been for sale in quite some time though
Aug 12, 2015 3:28 PM - Mike Kelly: or maybe it is...
    Aug 12, 2015 3:28 PM - jbigler1986: looks like it is
    Aug 12, 2015 3:29 PM - jbigler1986: $20
    Aug 12, 2015 3:29 PM - Mike Kelly: yeah
Aug 12, 2015 3:29 PM - Mike Kelly: significantly better priced lol
    Aug 12, 2015 3:29 PM - jbigler1986: same concept too
    Aug 12, 2015 3:29 PM - Mike Kelly: yup
Aug 12, 2015 3:29 PM - jbigler1986: not sure how the actual filament teeth are though
Aug 12, 2015 3:29 PM - Mike Kelly: i wonder what walter thinks about it
Aug 12, 2015 3:30 PM - jbigler1986: good question. probably likes it or he wouldn't use it
Aug 12, 2015 3:30 PM - Mike Kelly: well he uses the bondtech v2 on his eustathios so he'd at least have some comparison points
    Aug 12, 2015 3:31 PM - jbigler1986: that is true. ask him
    Aug 12, 2015 3:32 PM - jbigler1986: these people and not using a geared stepper. i don't get it
Aug 12, 2015 3:32 PM - jbigler1986: direct drive i can see working ok. but bowden i have no freaking clue how
Aug 12, 2015 3:32 PM - Mike Kelly: yeah they must not try printing very fast
    Aug 12, 2015 3:33 PM - jbigler1986: 30mm/s
Aug 12, 2015 3:33 PM - jbigler1986: what's the damn point of going bowden then
    Aug 12, 2015 3:33 PM - Mike Kelly: that's a very good question lol
    Aug 12, 2015 3:34 PM - donhuevo: 150mm/sec was my reason
    Aug 12, 2015 3:34 PM - jbigler1986: try that without a geared stepper
    Aug 12, 2015 3:35 PM - donhuevo: no sir
    Aug 12, 2015 3:35 PM - jbigler1986: exactly
Aug 12, 2015 3:37 PM - Mike Kelly: i'm thinking i need to replace the ramps/arduino on my mk R1
Aug 12, 2015 3:37 PM - Mike Kelly: that thing is so buggy it's weird
    Aug 12, 2015 3:39 PM - donhuevo: that's the first I'm hearing about this
Aug 12, 2015 3:40 PM - Mike Kelly: for example, i can't print from repetier or simplify3d without it randomly pausing during a print
Aug 12, 2015 3:40 PM - Mike Kelly: even though my R1.7 prints from both fine
Aug 12, 2015 3:41 PM - Mike Kelly: but i can print from cura with the mk R1
    Aug 12, 2015 3:41 PM - donhuevo: is it a firmware thing?
Aug 12, 2015 3:41 PM - Mike Kelly: i'm not sure that mine has deviated enough to really say that
Aug 12, 2015 3:42 PM - Mike Kelly: i am gonna do a reflash cause my offset is wrong
Aug 12, 2015 3:43 PM - donhuevo: please excuse the mess... [IMG]
Aug 12, 2015 3:43 PM - Mike Kelly: wow tall

Aug 12, 2015 3:44 PM - donhuevo: it's crazy how smooth those delrin v wheels ride that aluminum
Aug 12, 2015 3:45 PM - Mike Glass: looks like a gmax printer
    Aug 12, 2015 3:45 PM - Mike Kelly: so that's V slot then/
    Aug 12, 2015 3:45 PM - donhuevo: yep
Aug 12, 2015 3:46 PM - Mike Kelly: lookin good man
Aug 12, 2015 3:46 PM - Mike Glass: You have a even a bigger mess then me.
Aug 12, 2015 3:46 PM - donhuevo: there's probably 10 false starts on that table too.
    Aug 12, 2015 3:46 PM - donhuevo: and a Yoda or two
Aug 12, 2015 3:46 PM - Mike Glass: to bad you dont have aluminum plate
Aug 12, 2015 3:47 PM - Mike Glass: pretty blue
Aug 12, 2015 3:47 PM - donhuevo: I need to re-work the y axis bushing holders and make one side adjustable
    Aug 12, 2015 3:55 PM - Mike Kelly: does it bind/

    Aug 12, 2015 4:39 PM - jbigler1986: Looking good though
Aug 12, 2015 4:41 PM - donhuevo: I haven't proven the viability of the Igus bushings yet.
Aug 12, 2015 4:51 PM - jbigler1986: Are you going to actually print with that or just testing
Aug 12, 2015 4:52 PM - donhuevo: I need to see it print
    Aug 12, 2015 4:53 PM - TxKent: Howdy everybody
Aug 12, 2015 4:53 PM - donhuevo: if I get it working, I'll probably never take it apart

Aug 12, 2015 5:02 PM - TxKent: So far really like the Z axis leveling one.
    Aug 12, 2015 5:03 PM - Mike Kelly: there's one scene i'm considering reshooting
Aug 12, 2015 5:04 PM - TxKent: You're twisting the threaded rod, is that correct?
Aug 12, 2015 5:06 PM - Mike Kelly: yup, the steppers are disabled
Aug 12, 2015 5:06 PM - TxKent: On the one where you're counting the threads, I'm glad you sped it up.
    Aug 12, 2015 5:08 PM - Mike Kelly: hah
Aug 12, 2015 5:08 PM - TxKent: These are good so far. I'm on the extruder calibration... which I really need to do after I fix my PLA layer separation issue.
Aug 12, 2015 5:10 PM - TxKent: You should say what Marquis says "Hello people of the internet!" at the start of each.
    Aug 12, 2015 5:11 PM - Mike Kelly: haha
Aug 12, 2015 5:11 PM - Mike Kelly: have me sitting in front of it
Aug 12, 2015 5:12 PM - TxKent: I really like the extruder calibration one. It is easier than other videos I've seen to understand.
    Aug 12, 2015 5:12 PM - Mike Kelly: thanks
Aug 12, 2015 5:12 PM - Mike Kelly: feel free to let me know if something isn't clear and you need more info
Aug 12, 2015 5:13 PM - TxKent: So when you're off by 13mm on the extrusion - what do you need to do to fix it?
    Aug 12, 2015 5:13 PM - TxKent: I would explain that.
    Aug 12, 2015 5:13 PM - Mike Kelly: ok
Aug 12, 2015 5:15 PM - TxKent: Good tips on teflon tape on the rods when you have loose helical couplers
Aug 12, 2015 5:20 PM - TxKent: Removing those two screws on the head was a bear for me the first time. They were so tight in there. I thought about getting some t-handle hex wrenches.
Aug 12, 2015 5:20 PM - Mike Kelly: yeah those are a pain
Aug 12, 2015 5:20 PM - Mike Kelly: i use a hand drill when i put it back in
Aug 12, 2015 5:21 PM - Mike Kelly: i cut out me removing it because i got really frustrated lol
Aug 12, 2015 5:22 PM - TxKent: sweet. Just got to that scene
Aug 12, 2015 5:24 PM - TxKent: I bet my tension screws are too loose.
Aug 12, 2015 5:25 PM - TxKent: I'm printing black shaxon PLA at 200 and the layers are separating randomly - and the top layer is actually semi-transparent
Aug 12, 2015 5:25 PM - TxKent: I thought it was too cool, but checked and saw I was printing @200
Aug 12, 2015 5:27 PM - TxKent: On the nozzle removal one - you might want to clip that final scene. Seems to be extra. "You should just be able to do it by hand" Looked like you were taking the insert screw out.
    Aug 12, 2015 5:29 PM - Mike Kelly: Sure
Aug 12, 2015 5:30 PM - donhuevo: we have the Z min. She said that
Aug 12, 2015 5:30 PM - Mike Kelly: I should have said praise the z somewhere
    Aug 12, 2015 5:31 PM - jbigler1986: Colorado and butane torch. hmmmm
    Aug 12, 2015 5:31 PM - TxKent: Hey, your serial # is 1401, mine is 1403
Aug 12, 2015 5:31 PM - Mike Kelly: Yours was the 3rd batch id guess
    Aug 12, 2015 5:31 PM - donhuevo: I have one criticism
    Aug 12, 2015 5:31 PM - Mike Kelly: What's that don
Aug 12, 2015 5:32 PM - donhuevo: well, first you called your needlenose pliers vice grips then a moment later you called them a wrench
    Aug 12, 2015 5:32 PM - Mike Kelly: Hahahaha
Aug 12, 2015 5:32 PM - Mike Kelly: I sometimes use the wrong word
Aug 12, 2015 5:32 PM - donhuevo: other than that, very informative. liked it
    Aug 12, 2015 5:33 PM - jbigler1986: why isn't there a makerbot tattoo on your hands?
Aug 12, 2015 5:33 PM - TxKent: Are those rod caps on Thingiverse?
Aug 12, 2015 5:36 PM - jbigler1986: look at that wobble rob. tisk tisk
    Aug 12, 2015 5:36 PM - Mike Kelly: No they're not.
    Aug 12, 2015 5:36 PM - Mike Kelly: Want a link?
Aug 12, 2015 5:37 PM - jbigler1986: when did he get his printer
Aug 12, 2015 5:38 PM - TxKent: Yeah, I'd like to make the caps.
    Aug 12, 2015 5:38 PM - TxKent: Thxn
Aug 12, 2015 5:39 PM - jbigler1986: Mk what happened to the rest of the estep calibration?
