I didn't order from them personally but know someone who did. They seem very good quality and open build parts is a very respected company

Yeah, I'm interested in seeing how well something like a tall column prints on this setup.

Here we are. Not at maximum build hight but still higher than original. Side note... I am printing with a hobbed bolt with not so good teeth. I failed at making a good one so you can see little splotches here and there.[IMG]

I need to try your threaded rod stabalizer. The one I currently use doesn't keep the stock one from not wobbling

I use a stabilizer that I modified. You can find the STL file in the OP. They use a 608Z 8mm bearing to help with rotation.[IMG]

I am probably going to steal that idea for the top of the threaded rod in the DLP. Am almost to the point for building the top stage with the threaded rod and was pondering this myself.

Is there a reason you are cutting the tod bought from amazon? Would it not just be easier to make the printer just a little bit taller?

He'd have to print all of those lifter stands again and probably didn't realize it until he was putting everything together.

Oh ok. Didn't know if it was a stability thing. I may try to just stretch the stl a few mm in the z direction so I don't have to cut them.

Actually there is a very good reason... you would not be able to print all the parts with the original build volume of the robo3d R1. Unless you cut the part in two and glue it together(something I did not want to do) so theoretically you will have to extend the legs by 7 inches in order for it to fit the 30 inches of the smooth rod. So the total lingth of the legs will be 16 inches. It could be done.... I could make one if that's what you guys want as an option. Let me kno.

Could you make them half the height needed and make two of each?

Hmmmm? I'm not quite understanding the request. Do you mean half of 16 which would make it smaller or half of 7 inches for the maximum 30 inch smooth rod lingth? Which would mean you will be cutting your smooth rods to around 26.5 inches? And 2 of each of what exactly?

I think he is implying could you make the stl so that you could print two pieces of equal lengh to glue or even bolt together so we could use the full 30 inch rod.
