So I just went to check on my print and this is what I see. What is going on. Also it was extruding and retracting like a mad man. Could that be the issue?

looks like a failed z calibration or something in the z isn't going up right. Could also be extruder? but doesn't look like it.

The extruder going crazy might be those inner walls. looks like they have a tiny infill in them

So I removed blue tape, printed directly on the glass bed. Got the first layer good. Let the print go overnight and finish. Here are the results. The balls inside are horrible. If someone could give me a walk through on fixing this. All bolts seem tight. Nothing is loose.

Seems like it is a case of over extrusion.
There may be other issues, but it does look like it is putting down too much filament.

I agree. I think that is what the problem was with my cyliner test too. What setting in Cura do I need to change for that? Is it the Flow rate that I need to change?

Yes, I imagine (that sounds right -- not a Cura user, sorry).

Do a test where you extrude say 50mm and measure how much is consumed.
That should get you close. If you are doing flow-rate as a % then figure out what % you need to drop it.

There is normally an Extrusion Multiplier (or something similar) you could tweak that.

So I will change feed rate to 90%. Do I also need to change the multiplier? Or just do one or the other? I can't find the multiplier setting. Looked in expert settings too. I guess I will just try feed rate for now.

One or the other I would imagine.
Unless Cura is doing something funky there...

Just thought that maybe I upgraded to the wrong firmware. I upgraded the 8mm auto level firmware. Maybe I have the 5/16th rods. Could that cause these issues?

The Z steps would be wrong if that were the case so it would not print correctly.
I can't say that what I see is what would happen, but something bad would ;)

Ok. It was just a thought. I will lower temp and lower feed rate and see what happens. Should I test by print just one small circle instead of lots?

That would be more effective. You can tell from the first layer normally if things are going well.

Take the attached and stretch it to fit the entire bed.

How do I tighten the main extruder belt if it's loose? Not sure what to call it. The one that movers the print head back and forth.

    X (side to side)?

You have to cut a zip-tie or two, tighten it and re-apply zipties. I actually added a little rig to allow me to dynamically tighten it.

Old picture (back when I used painters tape) but the X belt part has not changed :)

So is it actually the zip ties that tightens the belt? Or is there an actual screw/knob that allows it to be tightened?

Don't they use a spring type device for tensioning the belt now

I don't know. I just know that I have zip ties on mine like in the pictures above. Not sure how to adjust it
