That is all you need to do.

Yea, if you swapped the thermistor then the temperatures may vary some from what you had before. They are not the worlds most accurate devices, but close enough.

But then again, you should always check the best print temp for every spool (I say that a lot).

    thanks for the reply Mark!

I just managed my 1st and 2nd print with the e3d and they look amazing!!

the only problem i have now is the heated bed is still not working, but will investigate that tomorrow..

I am very happy with my E3d V6 purchase!!

Yea, I love me my E3D. Best aftermarket add-on so far.
The heated bed is likely a thermistor or a wiring to the bed issue. Check everything.

Good luck (you can print a lot of stuff with no heated bed anyway, but you can get it working)

Are people ordering the E3d-v6 with or without Bowden add-on?

I think it is worth the extra few bucks. I am not using a Bowden extruder, but I feel more secure using the pft tube below the hobbed bolt. You just have to drill out the shaft a bit to accommodate the tube. The 2 phillips screws under the carriage will get you access. And if you decide to upgrade in the future it is available.

Without. If I ever move to Bowden it will be because we installed a Kraken :)
But if you are even considering it, go ahead and get the Bowden addon.

I've seen a handful of links to the latest 6_10 auto-leveling firmware, can someone point me in the direction of the latest non-auto-leveling?

    What is a kraken?
No matter what I try, I can't print with abs. It always pulls up at the corners or doesn't stick to the bed. I've tried hairspray and contact vinal and sign plastic. I thought that I might have to heat up the abs to a higher temp but the stock hot end cuts out at 230 deg. So I think I need a new hot end and looking for direction on how to go. Cost is no concern as I have spent soo much time, I will do anything to get reliability. Help

Sticking to the bed should be a solvable problem with ABS, the warp--not so much.

If strength of the material is the only reason to use ABS, you should look at some of the other alternatives (like Nylon, Carbon Fiber, etc.) since they do not have the tendency to warp without a heated chamber like ABS.

There may be other reasons for using ABS, if you intend to use it a lot consider the enclosure that @Printed Solid and @Mike Kelly have done (there is a thread on that and you can buy it through printed solid or construct your own).

I have also had some luck with directed heat lamps that aim on the item being printed, but this is not an ideal solution either.

Aside from what Mark said, here's one thing that might be obvious to many, but to me, it wasn't for a while: Do you have the cooling fan enabled when printing ABS? If so, disable cooling in your filament settings. The cooling fan is only there to deal with a problem that's specific to PLA. Most other materials don't require active cooling. For ABS, it is particularly detrimental.

Yes, the direct feed one if you are just swapping it in.

You should definitely definitely use that PTFE tube. It really helps stop jams. I got a longer one drilled a hole in my extruder and ran it right up to the hobbed bolt. You really should use it.

If you are truly not using the PTFE tube on your v6 you will surly get jams. that is the way the extrurder is meant to be used bowden connection or not that ptfe needs to run right down into the heatbreak like this.

If i misunderstood you im sorry, but even the direct model comes with a short piece of PTFE tubing.
