It'll take a few tries. Keep adjusting settings till you get it.

    Not enough top layers.
Might be a touch too hot.

Like Mike said, keep playing with it.

I got a jam and decided to take off the heated end. I noticed that my entire hot end plastic piece is not connected from one side to the other. I can freely move one side and not the other..

How does it secure itself or do I have a broken one?
One side is on one rail d the other is on another rail. I can move one side and it skews. Could have this been my problem?

I can see any scree to secure it to the other side. There is a screw it pivots on by it looks like a river on the opposite side.

Isn't it suppose to be one piece?

Yeah that's a total failure. That could definitely cause problems. Submit a replacement part request if you want an injection molded version. Otherwise I have a printable carriage that you can use if you can get it to scrape by.

    So it snapped in two?
What replacement part do you have?

Looks like it snapped in 2 yes.

It's a more printable version of the carriage.

I don't think it will take tony since there is a lot of movement between the two.

Do you have a link for the replacement print?

    I saw a Prusa i3 Extruder - Fully Assembled

Would this be a good choice? It's available in my home town and I was wondering if it's a better replacement?

Would u have to tweak the firmware?

Do I need only the x carriage and the bearing or do I need the entire extruder black plastic part?
It seems my x carriage snapped in half. How does that happen? Could be another problem?

If your extruder is broken you'd need to print a new greg's wade extruder.

I don't know how it could happen. Perhaps your PEEK hotend got too hot end it weakened the carriage. I'm still hesitant on the J-head design.

That looks crazy. I don't know how you were printing at all like that.

Could u glue it with something till I get a replacement? Epoxy?

I don't know when it happened but it must have been when I started having problems. I was able to print many things but lots of failures in between.
It's amazing it still worked but I do have to do something about it. I ordered replacement x carriage.

Wonder if this could be a common problem down the road, do you know how many hours you have on your machine? looking at the discoloration do you think it could be from heat stress? Epoxy might work but I wouldn't trust it for long. I think Robo should track this type of information specially when things fail, and how many hours of use. Wonder if there is anything in the firmware that tracks actual usage.
Looks like your missing a bearing also.

The part Mike uploaded will solve (replace) this. But, at this point I doubt you can cobble that back together enough to print it yourself. You could try with some really strong epoxy, perhaps if you got it back together you could print really slow...

See about getting a replacement part from Robo or worst case someone can print one for you (but that might take longer).
If all else fails let me know and I can print you one next week.

Epoxy would work to repair it. Or something like CA glue. At least enough to get you running again.

How long has that bearing been missing?

@Mike Glass He runs a J-head hotend which uses a PEEK body. Those are designed to run without a cooling fan, though it's often a good idea.

If I had to guess as to a cause of this it was from thermal cycling due to the J-head. The heatsink on a Hexagon runs much cooler so it's less likely I'd say.

Wow, I see the missing bearing.

As you can see it's all in one piece still so I do not know what happened to the missing bearing.

It would seem as it was printing without it. Three bearings seem to be enough!!!

I ordered a replacement but still waiting for a confirmation. I feel lost now. What to do?

Anyone in Toronto Ontario Canada that has a Greg Wade's x carriage?

Wish I was there I would print you up something but with out all the bearings not sure how well it would go.
