That kit is a sack of awesome when it comes to Robo spares.
Everything is there. Everything (and then some)

I have the other arduino that I replaced with the new one, I printed USB for a month on that one. But it won't print from SD card, could it be bad as well or should I put that one back on?

It has all of the electronics parts your Robo uses + an LCD card.

If you want to try it, go for it. It is still a bad Arduino if the SD card reader is failing, but if you want to print via USB then have at it.
I would still suggest replacing the Arduino with a good one.

I don't need an LCD, I already have a xxl LCD from printed solid for that printer. But it looks as though everything is there. Is it easy to put together, and then I would have to go to the Robo website and get the firmware correct?

    Yes to both.
If you remove the old ones you can see how they go together.

Tom has some discussion about it here:

I might go with that Kaufman set up then, everything for $35, can't beat it. Plus I guess I can always sell the other LCD that comes with it, I like the big read out of the xxl.

That is the Full Graphics one that comes with the kit and requires a slight firmware mod to enable it. The XXL one does not. It will work out of the box.

I think if it was me I'd just take the ramps off your current arduino and install it on the new arduino. Then flash the robo firmware and hopefully back in action then you have lots of spare parts on the shelf

Robo sent me a new Arduino board and a new ramps board, they also updated the firmware on them

Yes, they weren't sure if my problem was the Arduino or the ramps, so they sent me both. So now I have 2 Arduino boards and 2 ramps boards. 1Arduino and ramps on the printer, and the Arduino and the ramps board I took off the printer.

I'm sorry I must have mis spoke. I mean if you get the kit to fix your arduino communication error that's what I'd do to get it rolling with no extra work. Your ramps is probably ok.

So your saying, get the whole kit, use the Arduino from it, my ramps, and just keep the kit ramps and LCD as spare parts?

No apologies, like I said I am a newbie, so I probably read it wrong.

Yessir that's what id do. Still get the replacement for the replacement from robo just because they should make it right :). That makes the swap plug and play all you have to do after that is loadin the firmware and get printing. Then your not throwing out good ramps :) just the bum arduino
