Unresolved Print stops halfway, communications message that I can't figure out

    I think just from history, I am going to have a hard time getting robo to send another Arduino. Thanks for the help, I am going to order that Kaufman kit tonight.

    Get your firmware from the robo website.

    Then go to http://arduino.cc//

    Open arduino software

    Go to file ,open, select your firmware file, when that opens don't change anything and go to tools, board, arduino 2560 and then press upload :). This has to be done connected to the robo by USB then you should be good to go

    So the robo firmware and arduino software are 2 separate things? Does it matter which order I do it in?

    Arduino software in that link is the program to send the firmware file to your board. After you send it to the board and it works you won't need the arduino software again until you want to do firmware changes :)

    You'll need to download the firmware from robo, then download the arduino.cc program from that link. Follow the directions in my post to open the firmware in the arduino software and send to your printers arduino board

    I received the Kaufman kit this afternoon, installed the Arduino, used my own ramps, installed Robo software and Arduino firmware. First print with USB cord it printed the entire print. I then tried printing from the SD and the XXL controller. It printed great and all the entire print!!! This forum ROCKS!!! Thank you for all the great links to parts, all the help and having to deal with a newbie. This forum is wayyy better and less frustrating than the manufacturer tech support. THANK YOU VERY MUCH.

    OK, problem occurred again. After I installed the Arduino board ONLY from the Kaufman Kit I ordered, and installed the Robo software and Arduino firmware. I ran 2 test prints, 1 using the USB and mattercontrol, and 1 using the SD card and my XXL controller. Both prints printed perfect no ereor codes usb at all and were 2 hour prints. Then I tried a 12 hour print today and 30 min in it failed. So I'm thinking the ramps board may be bad and need to be replaced also. I was thinking heat, since the last ones wons worked and this last one failed, but they 2 hours back to back, and this one failed 30 min in.
    PLA - 210 extruder 50 bed

    Make certain the little fan under the bed that cools the RAMPS is functioning correctly.
    Maybe you want to replace it with a bigger one... (I use a 3" fan myself).

    It ran until it overheated and pooped out :)

    Longer it runs the more heat will build up if you don't have enough cooling.

    Right, that's what has me stumped. It printed 2 two hour prints back to back just fine. But 30 mins into this one today, it failed.

    Replace that wimpy little fan and see :)
    Or, as a test, leave the bottom cover off, prop it up on something and aim a room fan at the base of the unit by the RAMPS and see how it goes.
