Solved Problem #2 with brand new printer

    If you remove the OEM SD card reader and plug in the smart adaptor to that spot (yes it will take up the small 6 pin and the large pins at the "bottom" of the ramps board). Now if its the full graphics you will need to edit the firmware and add a library (there is a thread on this). If its the XXL controller its plug and play with stock set up.

    Daniel try to remember that while this is your opinoin, it is in fact an opinion :D. everyone bought the machine full aware of no LCD hook up. Lets try to stay on target with the thread :D

    pretty sure the kit is full graphics .... Not terrible to get going, any number of people can you help you out getting it set up and working. alot of people perfer the full graphics in fact.

    Please be aware that @daniel871 is coming from the place where he has had issues with more than one Robo printer. As a result his opinion is based on facts related to his personal experience. While his experience appears to be atypical of the majority of Robo users, it can be used as a cautionary data point.

    Thank you very much for the links. I hope to get home in time tonight and try this add on. It's driving me crazy trying to work knowing that thing is sitting at house like a paper weight lol

    My usb issues were duplicatable by jiggling the usb cable while it was printing. Turned out the usb connector on my replacement board was squidgy. I was sent a 3rd board and all has been well for months now.

    I hope to get the LCD controller one day.

    So I finally got a chance to install the full graphics lcd and I flunked. plugged it into ramp board, usb to computer. Opened Arduino and put the u8glib folder in libraries. The link Nark posted to the marlin version was broken, but I found 1.02 last stable release, opened sketch uncommented the line instructions specified, included the u8glib notation unplugged and fired it up. I get a lit up blank screen. made sure cables weren't crossed, filed notches to try plugs inverted as some suggested. still lit and blank. Got any suggestions besides a sledgehammer?

    If you're still within 30 days and got it at Best Buy/Amazon, return it for a refund?

    Did you uncomment the xxl controller ? If both are enabled it wont work

    I removed the hash marks from the line that said reprap discount full graphic, but not from line that said reprap graphic controller. When I opened matter don't it was reading extruder temp at 494 and the firmware name was showing ultimaker and wouldn't make any manual moves so I don't think I have the right marlin firmware. Do you have a working link to the working version? I also tried making the same changes to the Robo3dr1v2 firmware but display still didn't work, although printer went back to manual control working

    That was my thoughts too.. I had searched and read so many thread pages my head is spinning, but I couldn't find a file link. I'm just not understanding the blank screen...smh

    Well the blank screen is one of three things :)

    In order of most to least likely:

    1) the contrast is cranked all the way up or down (almost all of them have this issue)
    2) the Firmware is not set correctly for it (if it is the smaller text screen this is already configured in the firmware. if it is the larger graphic one you have to make changes)
    3) the LCD is dead (long live the LCD)

    P.S. in remote cases you plugged in in incorrectly, but that is not a common problem since most of them are keyed connectors so unless you crossed them up that is not the case.
