Their new R2 design uses the Ultimaker mechanics system. It's basically just a reskinned version.

Looks alright I guess, not for me

Look on their facebook/instagram/twitter for pictures

Oh i found a CES video, looks good i'll probably buy one :)

Probably should sell one or two of my other printers lol. My leapfrog creatr is getting dismantled tonight and parted out on ebay.. I hate that thing.

If they're going to sell it at the price point they're saying, I'd prefer the Ultimaker personally

He said $1400 something in the ces video. Whats the ultimaker its at least double that isn't it? I don't like the 3mm filament for ultimaker as I have a bunch of 1.75 stuff.

Funny enough I have 3 printers, two were $2000 and up..

and I use the Robo3D R1 more than both of them lol.

I was hearing "Around 2000" for the R2. 1400 is more resonable, especially if it's dual extruder.

The more I think about buying a 4th 3d printer ( my first one leapfrog creatr sucks )

The more I think I'll wait for the R2.

If anything else because of this forum. I have never called robo once..there is no need.

I have a leapfrog creatr ( had..I dismantled it and the parts I didn't keep are going on ebay )

I have a Replicator 2..and there is no community for it.

The other printer I am interested in is the Big Box.. I want to try dual extrusion again, my leapfrog had it but that thing was build like a tank and worked like a usless brick...and me being in the USA...was impossible to get help, they are in netherlands, with a terrible forum, and NO phone support. You could Skype them..but thats annoying and the time diffrence was annoying. I doubt the E3D big box would be quite that bad but there is still a major time zone gap

@KTMDirtFace The BigBox would be a good option as E3D has a pretty good following, the community is likely very small at the moment, but you could share experiences with @Mike Kelly who has done so much for this community. I am not confident Robo can pull off anything really innovative with the R2, it just seems to be another 'me too' gantry style printer, not the biggest, not the fastest, not innovative, just another in a sea of Chinese made 3D printers. Now given the choice between an R1 and an R2 (if it were available today) I would choose the R2.

With the exchange rate, VAT and shipping the big box is also really getting up there in price to order it to the USA. Its well more than the R2's rumored price.

If Amazon or someone here carried it I would buy it now. I'll even buy the kit version... And they may by the time the R2 is out. I read at least one USA dealer that plans to carry them but they have to fill all the kickstarter orders first. The major bonus is that big box has 2 E3d's on it already.

VAT doesn't apply if you are ordering from the US.

There will also be a few USA vendors selling the bigbox once they're able to. Printed Solid and Filastruder have both expressed interest. Probably more

Just saw a video for some printing event from a couple weeks ago, Braydon? made it sound like they only have one prototype R2 that got broken during shipping.

And he was saying august now for sale ( it was April? ). He also mentioned the price would be Sub 1000? for the R2 and Sub 600 for the mini.

I'll have to try find the video.

I dont think id buy the r2 :) if it ever comes out. To many other printers in the 1500-2500 price range. My 4th printer will be the bcn sigma. I dont think robo can compete :) we will see what comes if/when it ever comes out
