Sep 11, 2017 8:36 AM - OutsourcedGuru: Morning, all. Got an email this morning describing that our #1-complaining-user is moving to another building. (There is a God and He is awesomesauce.)
Sep 11, 2017 11:53 AM - Dick Travis: @Geof Do you have any influence with the level 2 guys?? They were supposed to call me at 9:30am?????
Sep 11, 2017 11:53 AM - Geof: Hi Dick, we do not. We are all users that volunteer to run the forum :(
Sep 11, 2017 11:54 AM - Geof: I'd suggest calling them and request the person you were suppose to speak with
Sep 11, 2017 11:54 AM - Dick Travis: OK...Hopefully they will call as promised??
Sep 11, 2017 11:54 AM - Geof: no, call them. If they dont call you when they say, you need to get them on the phone otherwise they likely wont
Sep 11, 2017 11:54 AM - Geof: (which is unacceptable)
Sep 11, 2017 12:47 PM - Dick Travis: They finally called and we had a good conversation, some good advice and a lot of "we are working on" stuff??? Fun, Fun Fun
    Sep 11, 2017 1:00 PM - Geof: :D you have a R2 I take ita?
    Sep 11, 2017 1:00 PM - Geof: it***?
Sep 11, 2017 1:01 PM - OutsourcedGuru: And his R2 probably looks like this: http://www.3ders.org/images2014/robo3d-r2-3d-printer-1.jpg
Sep 11, 2017 1:02 PM - Geof: if that were the case your C2 wouldn't exist ;) dont bring up the dead, focus on current :p
Sep 11, 2017 1:33 PM - Dick Travis: Yes, we have an R2, didn't know they originally thought it would look like the pic,,,funny...
Sep 11, 2017 3:31 PM - Geof: That was back in like 2014 when the r2 was an idea being talked about by robo
Sep 11, 2017 3:43 PM - daniel871: 2013, when Robo originally promised release in 2014, without needing kickstarter backing.
Sep 11, 2017 3:44 PM - daniel871: With "prototypes" at every trade show up until 2016 looking like that picture.
    Sep 11, 2017 3:47 PM - daniel871: https://www.tomsguide.com/us/makerbot-cubify-kickstarter,news-20235.html
Sep 11, 2017 3:47 PM - daniel871: Check that article for pics of said prototypes.
Sep 11, 2017 4:06 PM - Printed Solid: lol. I totally forgot about those!
Sep 11, 2017 4:06 PM - Printed Solid: We just added a R2 to our fleet. Will post updates as they come.
Sep 11, 2017 4:18 PM - WheresWaldo: Matt I already did a bunch of work on newer firmware for the R2
Sep 11, 2017 4:33 PM - Printed Solid: Thanks! Will check that out. We'll be looking at hardware upgrades.
Sep 11, 2017 4:49 PM - WheresWaldo: I have a few in mind already, just shoot me a PM and I can give you my thoughts on the matter.
Sep 11, 2017 4:50 PM - WheresWaldo: And Mark has a C2 which he has already done som hardware messing on.
Sep 11, 2017 5:27 PM - Printed Solid: cool. Thanks.

Sep 12, 2017 4:47 AM - Kilrah: Wow, impressive how they even had prototypes then did a complete redesign
Sep 12, 2017 6:26 AM - WheresWaldo: Kilrah, I think for the most part they did a pretty good job. The R2 out of the box was far better than the R1 out of box experience. I am glad they changed the design, very much like a DaVinci before.
Sep 12, 2017 8:00 AM - daniel871: I thought DaVinci machines were actually pretty decent printers, its just a hassle hacking them to use third party filament.
Sep 12, 2017 8:01 AM - daniel871: Also, for nearly $1,500 I'd certainly hope the printer performed better than a machine that was half the price.
Sep 12, 2017 8:01 AM - daniel871: Hey @Geof did you pull the trigger on the big pile of filament + 3d printer deal DaVinci is running?
Sep 12, 2017 8:37 AM - WheresWaldo: Dan, like all these printers reviews that are objective are mixed. The paid reviews (whether sponsored or other monetary considerations) all appear to want to represent every product in some good light. Davinci is no different than any other product out there.
Sep 12, 2017 8:39 AM - sgomes: The R2 is $1500 too and still needs some improvements to justify the price tag, in my opinion.
    Sep 12, 2017 8:50 AM - WheresWaldo: I don't disagree
Sep 12, 2017 8:52 AM - Geof: for 3k you can get the UM that doesn't need improvements ;) or a few hundred bucks into the R2 ;)
    Sep 12, 2017 8:52 AM - Geof: :p
Sep 12, 2017 8:59 AM - sgomes: We have two UM2+ at work. They're pretty impressive machines, yup. :)
Sep 12, 2017 8:59 AM - sgomes: Steep price to pay, but the reliability is totally worth it for non-hobbyists, at least.
Sep 12, 2017 9:19 AM - Geof: there is no reason the R2 cant be as reliable. Essentially the same set up but with some frills added. I personally think it just needs some upgrades.
Sep 12, 2017 9:19 AM - Geof: Dont have one so no hands on experience but I'd ditch the hexagon for a good hotend (80.00) and direct wire the heatbed to bypass that silly pogo pin nonsense (maybe 100.00 max)
Sep 12, 2017 9:29 AM - sgomes: Part cooling needs to be improved as well, and so does lighting. But other than that, I agree.
Sep 12, 2017 9:30 AM - sgomes: Of course, this is all assuming the printer gets in one piece to the consumer, which has been a big issue with the R2.
Sep 12, 2017 9:35 AM - Geof: meh :D thats a risk with ALL machines. Trust me. I have tons of brands and only 1 has gotten it right
Sep 12, 2017 9:36 AM - Geof: part cooling would be completely changed with hotend :D all one bird. Lighting....well....look at the R1+...lighting is the least of concerns over functional/reliable...at least to me
Sep 12, 2017 9:37 AM - sgomes: True. The point I was trying to make with lighting is just that the one it ships with is not fit for purpose. Easy to work around :)
Sep 12, 2017 9:39 AM - sgomes: Once I have a second printer, I'll probably try switching to a different hotend on the R2. That's months from now, though.
    Sep 12, 2017 10:00 AM - Geof: take out the lights :D. Type a is 4k...no lights included ;)
Sep 12, 2017 10:23 AM - daniel871: Is the Type A actually reliable? I looked at them a while back and just didn't see anything on paper that justified that price tag? Are they just using top-line components?
Sep 12, 2017 11:00 AM - Geof: high end components, sturdy machine. Mine is relieable but did have some serious wierdo issues after moving it to the shop from my home shop
Sep 12, 2017 11:01 AM - Geof: I do NOT like the surface finish its has. Will be working on that soon to figure out if its firmware accel/jerk or if its stepper drivers. Linear rails and the such it should have beautiful finish but seems textured.
Sep 12, 2017 11:01 AM - Geof: (I bought it and use it for jigs for the shop, finish isn't/wasn't a big deal, but I'd like it to do everything vs in house stuff or "functional but ugly" stuff for clients)
Sep 12, 2017 12:06 PM - Hanover: Hey there. I put together a Prusa Mk2S last weekend and yeah, I hate to say it, but it does seem to put out better prints than the R2.
Sep 12, 2017 12:13 PM - Hanover: Tempted to replace my R1+ with another one. The R2 will become more useful once we get the dual extruder kit.
Sep 12, 2017 12:16 PM - sgomes: I don't have experience with dual extrusion, but I've read that it's not that great unless the extruders are independent (like in the BCN3D Sigma) or have some mechanism to prevent oozing (like in the UM3).
Sep 12, 2017 12:19 PM - Geof: Hanover whats your issues with the Prusa?
Sep 12, 2017 12:19 PM - danzca6: yeah, dual extrusion is a whole other set of problems. If you can't get a quality print off of a stock R2, things are going to go down hill quick by adding another extruder/hotend to the mix
Sep 12, 2017 12:19 PM - Geof: sgomes- YES lol.
    Sep 12, 2017 12:19 PM - Geof: :D the R2 isn't dual extruder danz :p
    Sep 12, 2017 12:20 PM - danzca6: I know...but Hanover was saying about getting a dual extrusion kit for the R2
Sep 12, 2017 12:21 PM - danzca6: and he was also saying the MK2S printed better than the R2....so I don't think he was having issues with it
    Sep 12, 2017 12:21 PM - Geof: ewwwwwwww
Sep 12, 2017 12:21 PM - Hanover: No issues with the Prusa. :)
Sep 12, 2017 12:21 PM - Geof: I need to read better.... lol
Sep 12, 2017 12:21 PM - Hanover: Sorry, dual hot end for the r2? :)
Sep 12, 2017 12:22 PM - Geof: hanover....prusa prints better with their slicer than most machines :D
Sep 12, 2017 12:22 PM - Geof: dont hate to say it ;)
Sep 12, 2017 12:22 PM - Geof: no hanover...no no no! No dual hotend. lol.
    Sep 12, 2017 12:22 PM - Geof: NO! dont do it! :D
Sep 12, 2017 12:22 PM - sgomes: I need to get myself a Prusa as my 2nd printer. Well, as my primary printer, but the second one I buy :p
    Sep 12, 2017 12:22 PM - danzca6: it's a dark and lonely trail
Sep 12, 2017 12:23 PM - danzca6: yeah sgomes prusa had a nice sale that I think ended yesterday
Sep 12, 2017 12:23 PM - Geof: I have a sigma and still say dual extrusion IS NOT worth the hassle :D
Sep 12, 2017 12:23 PM - danzca6: they gave free shipping on the kit which was about a 10% price break overall
Sep 12, 2017 12:23 PM - Geof: sgomes, there are alot of good machines out there (that from what I can see) surpass the R2 in print quality out of the box
Sep 12, 2017 12:24 PM - Geof: prusa just is a good deal. i bought one fairly early on
Sep 12, 2017 12:24 PM - Geof: I saw that! Danz did you get yours?
    Sep 12, 2017 12:24 PM - danzca6: no...couldn't find a buyer for my kidney in time...broke man problems :)
Sep 12, 2017 12:25 PM - Geof: LOL! :D I still dont think its better than my e3d robos
Sep 12, 2017 12:25 PM - Geof: if that helps any
Sep 12, 2017 12:26 PM - danzca6: that's just it...if I didn't already have a working printer, then it would have been a hard one to pass on
Sep 12, 2017 12:26 PM - Hanover: I was leery of all I3s after my bad time with the Anet A8. Took me two days to assemble the Prusa...I took my time. I was shocked when I plugged it in, printed "Buddy" and it just worked. :)
Sep 12, 2017 12:26 PM - sgomes: Yeah, I would have bought the Prusa in the promotion if I had the space for it :) Need to wait until I move
Sep 12, 2017 12:27 PM - Geof: LOL sgomes...make room! :D there is always room...gotta get creative ;) right Danz?
Sep 12, 2017 12:27 PM - danzca6: an anet...I haven't heard a lot of great things about them outside of electrical issues
Sep 12, 2017 12:27 PM - Geof: Hanover the A8 is just a garbage heap of cheap. Prusa is a OG I3 :D
Sep 12, 2017 12:27 PM - Geof: their just cheap danz :D so most people pick them up. I think I'd take my cruddy little startt over a anet machine :D
    Sep 12, 2017 12:27 PM - danzca6: hahahaha...true
Sep 12, 2017 12:27 PM - sgomes: Haha, already got pretty creative with the R2. This flat is over capacity :p
    Sep 12, 2017 12:28 PM - Geof: sgomes...put it on top of the R2...problem solves :D
Sep 12, 2017 12:29 PM - Geof: I had an army of them in one tiny little bedroom, there is always room! Just might have to step over one or two of them...and put some on the counter in the kitchen....and in the living room....and basement....
Sep 12, 2017 12:29 PM - Hanover: Yeah, the Anet was my very first. It was a nice lesson in how they worked. But it was sort of like putting together an Edsel. Might teach you auto-mechanics, but you still have a lemon when you're done.
Sep 12, 2017 12:30 PM - Geof: danz just ordered my 2nd batch from these guys of nozzles
    Sep 12, 2017 12:30 PM - Geof: https://m.fasttech.com/search/0?keywords=e3d+v6
    Sep 12, 2017 12:31 PM - danzca6: 80 cents and free shipping...crap
    Sep 12, 2017 12:31 PM - danzca6: that is cheap
Sep 12, 2017 12:32 PM - Geof: ends up being about 80 cents in shippin to the US. I buy around 30 at a time
Sep 12, 2017 12:32 PM - Geof: this go I bought one of their clone V6s for the Startt.
Sep 12, 2017 12:33 PM - Geof: buddy of mine says they are just as good as E3D OEM. I have yet to notice a difference. Use them on abrasive jobs because its cheaper to just run it and throw them away then to shut down swap to hardened on machines that dont run hardened lol
Sep 12, 2017 12:33 PM - Geof: new way of thinking having so many machines and just one of me :( bad days when busy
    Sep 12, 2017 12:35 PM - danzca6: just get those ruby nozzles...bahahaha
Sep 12, 2017 12:35 PM - Geof: what a waste of money lol
    Sep 12, 2017 12:35 PM - danzca6: right!?
    Sep 12, 2017 12:35 PM - danzca6: I just laugh
Sep 12, 2017 12:36 PM - Geof: I can buy (literally) over 100 nozzles for the price of the one nozzle...
    Sep 12, 2017 12:37 PM - danzca6: but the bling...hahaha
Sep 12, 2017 12:37 PM - Geof: so ..... yea... lol not gonna jump on buying those for all my v6 machines. expecially considering a ruby is NOT the strongest type of nozzle out there :D
Sep 12, 2017 12:38 PM - Geof: just seems silly. I have run tons of spools of abrasives through my robo with the hardened .8 and .4...zero issues...its been 2 years lol.
Sep 12, 2017 12:38 PM - Geof: (not saying you can buy me one Danz)
Sep 12, 2017 12:38 PM - Geof: just that I'll buy you a bag of cheap nozzles in exchange ;)
    Sep 12, 2017 12:39 PM - danzca6: well...christmas is around the corner
Sep 12, 2017 12:39 PM - Geof: oh and danz those nozzles are .53 if you buy more than 5 (thats why i buy a large bunch at atime :D )
    Sep 12, 2017 12:40 PM - Geof: .60 if you buy 3 :D
Sep 12, 2017 12:40 PM - Geof: bums me out they dont have larger bore but they do have .2, .3, .4 and .5
Sep 12, 2017 12:41 PM - Hanover: Pretty much disposable at that cost.
    Sep 12, 2017 12:41 PM - Geof: (their consumable at any cost ;) )
Sep 12, 2017 12:42 PM - Geof: Hanover where you located?
Sep 12, 2017 12:45 PM - Hanover: Georgia. Atlanta area.
Sep 12, 2017 12:48 PM - Hanover: Irma stopped by for a visit last night.
Sep 12, 2017 12:48 PM - Geof: hows everything holdin up after that?
Sep 12, 2017 12:49 PM - Hanover: Luckily I only lost power for about two hours. Lots of branches down but no trees. The internet was out overnight.
Sep 12, 2017 12:50 PM - Hanover: Some places closer to the city were still without power this morning.
Sep 12, 2017 12:50 PM - Geof: glad to hear you made it through ok!
    Sep 12, 2017 12:53 PM - Hanover: Thanks!

    Sep 13, 2017 at 5:23 AM - daniel871: Hey guys, anybody want a Tiko? https://www.facebook.com/marketplace/item/114783239213568
    Sep 13, 2017 at 5:23 AM - daniel871: :D
    Sep 13, 2017 at 5:41 AM - Geof: Lmao !!!!
Sep 13, 2017 at 5:41 AM - Geof: Id take one to hack and make work bit not at their price lok
Sep 13, 2017 at 5:49 AM - danzca6: $120? Are you kidding? I'd give $20 just for having it as a desk lamp
Sep 13, 2017 at 5:53 AM - danzca6: so still waiting for Brooke to release the STL's for the adoptabot smalls version
Sep 13, 2017 at 5:54 AM - danzca6: he said last thursday it would be released this weekend and parts starting to ship this week
Sep 13, 2017 at 5:55 AM - danzca6: I guess we will see what he says tomorrow on his live stream...it's a lot of work to redesign for mostly printed frame and for the parts he's having to use
Sep 13, 2017 at 6:03 AM - Geof: I imagine its alot more work than what many people thought. Danz are you in the adoptabot email? Did you sign up for the bus or whatever that was ?
Sep 13, 2017 at 6:07 AM - danzca6: I did sign up for the email, but haven't gotten anything. What bus?
Sep 13, 2017 at 6:08 AM - Geof: his find your seat on the bus video? There is a form you fill out, I think its still up. there are like 18 people on the chain but I didn't think I saw you
    Sep 13, 2017 at 6:09 AM - danzca6: Oh yeah...no I didn't fill out the form
    Sep 13, 2017 at 6:09 AM - danzca6: I should
    Sep 13, 2017 at 6:09 AM - danzca6: I will
    Sep 13, 2017 at 6:09 AM - danzca6: :)
    Sep 13, 2017 at 6:11 AM - Geof: atta boy :D
    Sep 13, 2017 at 6:12 AM - danzca6: hmm...not finding the form anymore
Sep 13, 2017 at 6:12 AM - Geof: ahhhh! Email him :D. There was a guy that dropped out already
    Sep 13, 2017 at 6:13 AM - Geof: http://printrbot.com/adoptabot/
Sep 13, 2017 at 6:13 AM - danzca6: yeah that's just the mailing list one...I was looking for the other one that got you on the phase 3 team
Sep 13, 2017 at 6:15 AM - Geof: I think thats the form on the right side buddy
Sep 13, 2017 at 6:16 AM - danzca6: ah...that part is blocked for me...I'll have to wait until I'm home
Sep 13, 2017 at 6:17 AM - Geof: Ah gotya. Yea its got a bunch of questions you fill out
Sep 13, 2017 at 6:17 AM - Geof: Then he adds you i believe
Sep 13, 2017 at 6:20 AM - danzca6: wow just saw that acro laser you retweeted...nice
Sep 13, 2017 at 6:25 AM - Geof: yea I got a email from them yesterday about it. preorder type of sale. Looks fun.
    Sep 13, 2017 at 6:26 AM - danzca6: doesn't come with the laser, but a nice start
    Sep 13, 2017 at 6:36 AM - Geof: laser sub 100 bucks ;)
Sep 13, 2017 at 6:51 AM - danzca6: http://openbuildspartstore.com/openbuilds-acro-laser/ for those wondering what we were talking about
Sep 13, 2017 at 7:05 AM - Geof: could be alot of fun for sure :D
Sep 13, 2017 at 7:15 AM - daniel871: Other than all of the laser safety issues and building an enclosure for it.
Sep 13, 2017 at 7:17 AM - daniel871: Also, even if you check all of the options, it looks like you don't actually get the laser itself, you just get the frame, reading the description.
Sep 13, 2017 at 7:18 AM - daniel871: "Compatible Laser Diodes (Not Included): Please note: There are lot of great choices when it comes to laser diodes so be sure to pick the right one for your application. Power choice is important as well as making sure your diode supports PWM. The ACRO Diode Mounting Plate hole pattern is designed to accommodate many available diodes. If the diode you choose has a different mounting pattern you can easily drill holes in the acrylic to mount. "
Sep 13, 2017 at 7:20 AM - WheresWaldo: If you just want a frame, it is hard to beat the A4 sized frames that come from China, you can always buy a better tested laser diode unit.
Sep 13, 2017 at 7:23 AM - daniel871: Did anyone else get the latest email from Makergeeks announcing that they finally integrated inventory tracking into their website?
Sep 13, 2017 at 7:23 AM - daniel871: That ought to head off a lot of the issues where people ordered something and then had to wait forever for them to make the filament and ship it.
Sep 13, 2017 at 7:25 AM - Geof: I have a thing with buying my parts through open build, I like them. I'll likely buy the laser frame :D I've used their stuff for all my home builds.
Sep 13, 2017 at 7:25 AM - danzca6: yeah Makergeeks finally made the jump to the 21 century
Sep 13, 2017 at 7:26 AM - Geof: and yes Daniel, no laser. Buy seperately. Not a big deal to me as I'd likley toss whatever it came with anyway
Sep 13, 2017 at 7:26 AM - Geof: I'm running some of their Raptor and some of their "transitonal spool" clearance stuff. Not bad stuff. Not great.
Sep 13, 2017 at 7:27 AM - daniel871: Also they're promoting this goofy mousepad (don't know how legible it is here, but the link to it will follow) [IMG]
    Sep 13, 2017 at 7:28 AM - daniel871: https://www.makergeeks.com/collections/whats-new/products/makergeeks-3d-printing-mouse-pad
    Sep 13, 2017 at 7:28 AM - danzca6: I actually have that mousepad
Sep 13, 2017 at 7:28 AM - danzca6: came with the last makergeek box I got
Sep 13, 2017 at 7:28 AM - daniel871: Has a bunch of random mostly useless info, but the bit about how to heat treat the Raptor PLA to make it a lot tougher is interesting.
Sep 13, 2017 at 7:29 AM - daniel871: At least they aren't calling it "annealing" because that means something very different in "normal" use (when talking about metals).
Sep 13, 2017 at 7:29 AM - danzca6: yeah they used to say oven, but switched to boiling for warping issues I guess
Sep 13, 2017 at 7:30 AM - daniel871: I've had really good luck with their PETG, but haven't experimented much with their other filaments.
Sep 13, 2017 at 7:31 AM - danzca6: the only thing I don't have of theirs is their TPU
Sep 13, 2017 at 7:32 AM - daniel871: Because of that maker box thing?
Sep 13, 2017 at 7:33 AM - Geof: Im going to do the oven first (have one at the shop) will do boiking water tonight or tomorrow
Sep 13, 2017 at 7:33 AM - daniel871: I never could pull the trigger on that, mostly because of how often I saw other "box" subscriptions be full of junk.
Sep 13, 2017 at 7:35 AM - Geof: yea I dont do samples lol. Even when a OEM sends me stuff to test..it has to be at least .5kg on a spool. I dont have time to mess around. I give sample coils I'm sent to schools.
    Sep 13, 2017 at 8:12 AM - sgomes: Wow, new titanium heatbreaks for the E3D V6: https://e3d-online.com/titanium-heat-break
Sep 13, 2017 at 8:27 AM - WheresWaldo: That looks interesting, wonder if Printed Solid will be getting any soon.
Sep 13, 2017 at 8:29 AM - Geof: I'm sure he will, he seems to have everything right at release if possible.
    Sep 13, 2017 at 8:41 AM - WheresWaldo: I can't find 24V setups for the v6 on Matt's sight.
Sep 13, 2017 at 8:58 AM - Geof: will look one sec
Sep 13, 2017 at 9:00 AM - Geof: You can always order a 24V heater and use the standard V6. I shoot him a message because I dont see it either. Will let you know what he says
Sep 13, 2017 at 9:00 AM - Geof: I've gotten those and the aeros from him in 24V and no issues, he just changed his site around, it may have gotten dropped off.
Sep 13, 2017 at 9:11 AM - daniel871: Titanium heat breaks and plated copper heater blocks.
    Sep 13, 2017 at 9:11 AM - daniel871: https://e3d-online.com/v6-plated-copper-heater-block
Sep 13, 2017 at 9:11 AM - Geof: Waldo- he is working on a few changes with the E3D stuff. First is he price matches because E3D is lowering their price some. If you see it cheaper let him know and he will match. For 24V you just specify you want 24V in the notes section when you order.
Sep 13, 2017 at 9:12 AM - daniel871: Also plated copper nozzles. Hm.
Sep 13, 2017 at 9:13 AM - OutsourcedGuru: What do you think of tungsten nozzles? https://dddmaterial.com/home/shop/product/tungsten-premium-nozzle-1-75mm-m6-0-4mm/
Sep 13, 2017 at 9:13 AM - OutsourcedGuru: ...and does the R1+ and the C2/R2 have the same M6 thread on that
Sep 13, 2017 at 9:17 AM - sgomes: I bought that tungsten nozzle and installed it on my R2. The thread is the same, but much longer, so the top of the nozzle doesn't fit flush against the heat block. Works fine with regular filaments, haven't had a change to try abrasives yet.
Sep 13, 2017 at 9:18 AM - Geof: its the same hexagon guru. Sgomes, why the tungsten? (curious)
Sep 13, 2017 at 9:21 AM - OutsourcedGuru: (I've been running the carbon fiber for 1+ rolls now so it's time for me to get real on this.)
Sep 13, 2017 at 9:22 AM - sgomes: @Geof: Wanted to get something I'd never have to replace and would work for all materials. Have a few different abrasives I want to try but haven't had a chance to yet.
Sep 13, 2017 at 9:22 AM - OutsourcedGuru: How much longer (thread), if you don't mind me asking?
Sep 13, 2017 at 9:24 AM - sgomes: I didn't measure before installing, I'm afraid. That would have been smart, in hindsight :)
Sep 13, 2017 at 9:25 AM - OutsourcedGuru: It's alright, I'll stalk their STL on it
Sep 13, 2017 at 9:25 AM - sgomes: Oh, they have an STL? Sweet :)
    Sep 13, 2017 at 9:26 AM - OutsourcedGuru: Here's the one I'm looking at, haven't unzipped it yet https://dddmaterial.com/home/shop/wp-content/uploads/sites/8/2016/10/dddmaterial-tpnozzle.zip
    Sep 13, 2017 at 9:27 AM - sgomes: Thanks!
Sep 13, 2017 at 9:28 AM - OutsourcedGuru: Dunno if that's yours, though
Sep 13, 2017 at 9:29 AM - sgomes: As far as I know, they only have one model.
    Sep 13, 2017 at 9:30 AM - sgomes: For 1.75mm, anyway
Sep 13, 2017 at 9:31 AM - OutsourcedGuru: I will say that galvanic corrosion ("bimetallic") happens the fastest with: 1) moisture, 2) heat, 3) difference of electropotentials of the two metals in question.
Sep 13, 2017 at 9:32 AM - OutsourcedGuru: I wonder why they don't use some sort of mica or similar washer or suggest that you smear the threads with some kind of electrically-insulating liquid.
Sep 13, 2017 at 9:34 AM - sgomes: Is that an issue even when there's no charge applied?
Sep 13, 2017 at 9:34 AM - OutsourcedGuru: The charge just "happens" because the conditions allow it. Inside a battery, it's the same.
Sep 13, 2017 at 9:35 AM - OutsourcedGuru: So your nozzle+heat block junction in the presence of an electrolyte is enough for the anode to die slowly.
Sep 13, 2017 at 9:35 AM - OutsourcedGuru: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Galvanic_corrosion#Anodic_index (And the anode is the one lower on this list.)
Sep 13, 2017 at 9:35 AM - sgomes: Well, presumably it's not too big of an issue if it's not common practice to do the same for Aluminium+Brass or Aluminium+Steel
Sep 13, 2017 at 9:36 AM - OutsourcedGuru: Steel actually is kind of low on the scale.
Sep 13, 2017 at 9:38 AM - OutsourcedGuru: ...as well as aluminum, tbh.
Sep 13, 2017 at 9:38 AM - sgomes: Is tungsten worse, in that regard?
Sep 13, 2017 at 9:39 AM - OutsourcedGuru: I'm looking that up. Pretty sure I'm running tungsten in my spark plugs and they weren't cheap.
    Sep 13, 2017 at 9:40 AM - OutsourcedGuru: Here's a chart, not as impressive as I thought: http://www.zygology.com/cms/upload_area/pdf/Zyg-Anodic-Index.pdf
Sep 13, 2017 at 9:40 AM - OutsourcedGuru: No, wait... it's upside down
Sep 13, 2017 at 9:41 AM - OutsourcedGuru: Let's call that awesome, then.
Sep 13, 2017 at 9:42 AM - OutsourcedGuru: The reason why I started talking about this (see the chart) is that titanium tops the list. So he makes all metals his bitch.
Sep 13, 2017 at 9:42 AM - OutsourcedGuru: So choose your heat block wisely, is my advice (choose the best metal you can afford or keep the printer dry).
Sep 13, 2017 at 9:44 AM - OutsourcedGuru:  This guy maybe says it better than I do: https://ae01.alicdn.com/kf/HTB1LUiS...r-Makerbot-MK7-MK8-font-b-Extruder-b-font.jpg
    Sep 13, 2017 at 9:45 AM - sgomes: Haha
Sep 13, 2017 at 9:45 AM - OutsourcedGuru: Think I'm going to make a label for that and slap it on my printer.
    Sep 13, 2017 at 9:47 AM - OutsourcedGuru: https://i.imgflip.com/1vsqkj.jpg
Sep 13, 2017 at 10:09 AM - danzca6: Yeah Daniel the copper block and nozzle has been out for awhile. I just recently saw this video that does a decent comparison with the different combinations. The cost is pretty crazy.

Sep 13, 2017 at 10:09 AM - danzca6: And the titanium... Yikes... Adds up quickly
Sep 13, 2017 at 10:10 AM - danzca6: Just saw that printed solid got a palette of CR-10's
Sep 13, 2017 at 10:11 AM - Geof: he sho did. The upgraded dual Z ones
    Sep 13, 2017 at 10:14 AM - danzca6: ohhhh Reaaaally
    Sep 13, 2017 at 10:14 AM - danzca6: hmmm
Sep 13, 2017 at 10:14 AM - danzca6: I just saw CR-10 on the side of the boxes
Sep 13, 2017 at 10:14 AM - daniel871: How much do they want for them?
    Sep 13, 2017 at 10:15 AM - danzca6: for what daniel?
    Sep 13, 2017 at 10:15 AM - daniel871: The CR-10s
    Sep 13, 2017 at 10:16 AM - danzca6: oh...they just came in...haven't seen them available online yet
Sep 13, 2017 at 10:16 AM - danzca6: curious though what he will sell them for
Sep 13, 2017 at 10:17 AM - daniel871: The biggest reason I haven't pulled the trigger is shipping/import costs, and some of the actual domestic stores stocking them are basically putting the import costs plus profit on top of the CR-10 costs as if they imported them in individually. Just wondering if he somehow got a discount getting them in at volume.
Sep 13, 2017 at 10:17 AM - daniel871: And whether that will translate to the end-user price in his shop.
    Sep 13, 2017 at 10:21 AM - danzca6: good question
Sep 13, 2017 at 10:22 AM - WheresWaldo: Dan to run a retail business that includes a brick and mortar location you need to have margins in the high 30's. If you don't you can't make a living. Import and shipping charges directly affect bottom line. Sometimes ordering pallets at a time will allow the manufacturer (if buying direct) or the distributor to absorb the cost of the items on the front end.
Sep 13, 2017 at 10:22 AM - danzca6: I also wonder how the quality of the CR-10 will last over time
Sep 13, 2017 at 10:22 AM - WheresWaldo: That was just general info for both Dan's
    Sep 13, 2017 at 10:23 AM - danzca6: hahaha
Sep 13, 2017 at 10:23 AM - danzca6: and PS normally ships for free...so that has to be factored in
Sep 13, 2017 at 10:24 AM - Geof: Didn't hear a price, thought he had mentioned the upgraded dual z was what was being stocked. Long term testing so far on mine has shown died fans and a power supply (its a cheap china kit lol)
Sep 13, 2017 at 10:24 AM - Geof: I'd imagine he will be on par with most everyone else that is selling them. It would be silly to undercut everyone and make no money
Sep 13, 2017 at 10:24 AM - WheresWaldo: Note that the margins required are average. So you can take a bit less on Printers if you can get a bunch more on consumables. Basically halo products ($$$$) have lower margins and accessories and consumables can have much higher margins ($).
Sep 13, 2017 at 10:25 AM - Geof: Indeed. Consumables is where I think most people make the most money.
Sep 13, 2017 at 10:25 AM - WheresWaldo: And margin is a percentage of total sales not a specific $ amount. Sometimes it is hard for the consumer to separate the two.
Sep 13, 2017 at 10:26 AM - Geof: I remember someone telling me the cost of a sigma R17 and the retail number were so close to each other for a reseller that unless people bought filament with it the shipping made it an even steven deal
Sep 13, 2017 at 10:26 AM - WheresWaldo: A lot of 'halo' (high dollar) products sell at incredibly skimpy margins.
Sep 13, 2017 at 10:26 AM - danzca6: yeah printrbot had to take their smalls off the store a couple weekends ago when they had their 15% off sale because they would be loosing money
Sep 13, 2017 at 10:29 AM - WheresWaldo: This can all be blamed on 'the race to the bottom' mentality that sellers find themselves in. If they couldn't make money deducting just 15% that was probably close to what Printrbot makes on the sale of small printers. Could you imagine how much cheaper they would have to sell to a retailer so they can make money too.
    Sep 13, 2017 at 10:30 AM - danzca6: that would be crazy
Sep 13, 2017 at 10:30 AM - WheresWaldo: I have dealt with suppliers that sell direct and through distribution. and when selling direct every once in a while the direct sale would be less than I could buy the product at wholesale.
Sep 13, 2017 at 10:34 AM - WheresWaldo: Here is a perfect example. I was a top tier bicycle retailer. I could buy bikes direct for margins between 40% to 20%. If I only bought $500 retail bikes I could make high 30's on each one I sold. then pay all my bills and then see if I had any money left to pay myself. I had to sell a hell of a lot since the actual $ amount was so low. If I sold a $10K bike I would end up with somewhere in the mid teens margin.
Sep 13, 2017 at 10:35 AM - WheresWaldo: Even though it was a lot more dollars you couldn't sell one every month of the year, you might only sell one or two in twelve months. So you can't pay bills with that. You have to pay all the other things you owe on and if there was anything left you might pay yourself.
Sep 13, 2017 at 10:36 AM - WheresWaldo: I am sure Matt makes his living selling filament and not printers. It's just that way it is.
Sep 13, 2017 at 10:37 AM - WheresWaldo: I had to sell tubes and nutritional items and accessories to actually pay rent, lights, utilities, insurance. etc.
Sep 13, 2017 at 10:56 AM - OutsourcedGuru: As a former Radio Shack manager, I got the 2nd highest sales gain in the Western U.S. (same store/new manager) and it all boils down to being friendly, knowing the product and up-selling.
Sep 13, 2017 at 10:57 AM - OutsourcedGuru: The PS dude seems to put in the customer service so he probably does well on repeat business.
Sep 13, 2017 at 11:13 AM - daniel871: Eh, I don't know. I like PS but I couldn't justify the prices for his filaments. I bought a lot of E3D parts from him back when I had an R1 though.
Sep 13, 2017 at 11:18 AM - Geof: he has a much better selection now with hatchbox and the economy materials from colorfabb.
Sep 13, 2017 at 11:18 AM - Geof: I'm going to pick up some of his PETG for the adoptabot stuff.
Sep 13, 2017 at 11:19 AM - Geof: 2.2 kg on one spool of PETG from colorfabb for 60.99. Good deal
Sep 13, 2017 at 11:22 AM - OutsourcedGuru: My gf always shops low price on the Internet and I try to teach her that I always shop local first and to go with someone I like if possible and then finally, use the Internet.
Sep 13, 2017 at 11:23 AM - OutsourcedGuru: (My own username is a testament to the fact that I essentially lost my job to outsourcing to third-world programmers years ago.)
Sep 13, 2017 at 11:24 AM - Geof: nobody local to buy filament through. I shop online. If its a small buisness I go there for my buying needs outside of printing. If they cant get it I get online. 90% of the time its online because there just arnt small businesses anymore.
Sep 13, 2017 at 11:25 AM - OutsourcedGuru: I hate to wax political but we're outsourcing our economy to death.
Sep 13, 2017 at 11:26 AM - Geof: :D would you work for their wages?
Sep 13, 2017 at 11:27 AM - OutsourcedGuru: I used to work at $100/hour at 60 hours per week invoicing.
Sep 13, 2017 at 11:27 AM - OutsourcedGuru: So, no.
    Sep 13, 2017 at 11:28 AM - Geof: Thats the answer. :)
Sep 13, 2017 at 11:28 AM - OutsourcedGuru: I'd rather buy from somebody like makergeeks from the states.
Sep 13, 2017 at 11:28 AM - Geof: from a buisness owners stand point if I can get the job done just as well at 10.00/hour instead of 100/hour regardless of where it gets done, I'd go for 10.00/hour.
Sep 13, 2017 at 11:28 AM - OutsourcedGuru: Use a little labor from someone here.
Sep 13, 2017 at 11:29 AM - OutsourcedGuru: Fast-forward ten years, if all business owners continue to do that we'll have more unemployment, more people in privatized prisons and more use of prison labor.
Sep 13, 2017 at 11:30 AM - OutsourcedGuru: There has to be a point where someone looks at a $6 toaster and equate that with slave/prison labor.
Sep 13, 2017 at 11:31 AM - Geof: I can tell you from doing a buisness that I would never pay some 100.00 hours. Companies that spend money like that will always outsource. Thats why I was maintenance and why I'm now in 3dp full time. I make my parts here, but couldn't afford to have someone else working with me. Not at what people think their worth.
Sep 13, 2017 at 11:32 AM - OutsourcedGuru: I was the CEO at the time and my own (shortly-used) CPA wanted $150/hour for his time, for what it's worth.
Sep 13, 2017 at 11:32 AM - Geof: Example- a guy in the machine shop thats experience was deburring parts (thats a high schoolers job or intro job) wanted 27 bucks an hour and wouldn't take anything less. Well ya know...your going to be unemployed lol
Sep 13, 2017 at 11:34 AM - Geof: (the guy was applying, not working currently )
Sep 13, 2017 at 11:34 AM - OutsourcedGuru: In a strategic move, I also worked at that plastic manufacturing plant at $10/hour in the harshest conditions imaginable.
Sep 13, 2017 at 11:35 AM - OutsourcedGuru: The owner gave his son a $50K truck as a high school graduation present the same year that he screwed me on my end-of-year bonus (I doubled their profits).
Sep 13, 2017 at 11:35 AM - Geof: tis the way of the world Guru. Movin up and out :D
Sep 13, 2017 at 11:36 AM - OutsourcedGuru: So I'm now making $50+/hour three years later. Not too bad.
Sep 13, 2017 at 11:39 AM - OutsourcedGuru: Do you work at a fabrication site (metal)?
Sep 13, 2017 at 11:40 AM - Geof: machine shop is downstairs, 3dp upstairs
Sep 13, 2017 at 11:41 AM - OutsourcedGuru: Could they manufacture an extruder (for filament), mostly that screw down the middle?
Sep 13, 2017 at 11:42 AM - OutsourcedGuru: Imagine an exotic-looking screw in which the shaft tapers along its length.
Sep 13, 2017 at 11:44 AM - Geof: not for what companies that make those make them for.
Sep 13, 2017 at 11:45 AM - OutsourcedGuru: Was reaching an idea this morning: 7' four-post computer rack turned into a filament extruder/spooler.
    Sep 13, 2017 at 11:45 AM - OutsourcedGuru: researching*

Sep 14, 2017 5:46 AM - Bill Monroe: it goes... just finished a job on my mill.. now doing the invoice :)
    Sep 14, 2017 5:47 AM - WheresWaldo: Bill, Isn't it like 5:45AM?
Sep 14, 2017 5:48 AM - Bill Monroe: why yes, yes it is
    Sep 14, 2017 5:48 AM - Bill Monroe: <-- up at 2
Sep 14, 2017 5:49 AM - Bill Monroe: hard for me to sleep when I'm close to writing a 5-figure invoice
Sep 14, 2017 5:50 AM - WheresWaldo: You got up an hour before I went to bed, doing some last minute CAD work.
Sep 14, 2017 5:51 AM - Geof: lol 7:47 here, up at 5... 2 is to early...but five figures I could probably roll outa bed :D
Sep 14, 2017 5:51 AM - Bill Monroe: heh.. ya, I just woke up for no reason.. but heck, might as well get something done
Sep 14, 2017 5:51 AM - Bill Monroe: 28K will buy a lot of toys

Sep 14, 2017 5:59 AM - Bill Monroe: Bernie Sanders is a kook
    Sep 14, 2017 6:03 AM - Geof: lol yea 28k will do a few things I'd imagine ;)
Sep 14, 2017 6:04 AM - Bill Monroe: got my eye on a classic .357 revolver..

Sep 14, 2017 12:07 PM - Geof: really a good price considering he will help you if you have issues.
Sep 14, 2017 1:19 PM - CARALI GILLES: Hello, anyone can tell me if the Robo R2 is noisy or quiet ?
Sep 14, 2017 7:13 PM - daniel871: Define "noisy" because it is a CNC machine. It isn't going to be silent.
Sep 14, 2017 7:16 PM - daniel871: Yeah, $650 is pretty good for the CR-10S if he's actually having it checked before shipping it out. Thats more than certain other sellers are doing for their $1,500 machines. *cough*
Sep 14, 2017 7:22 PM - danzca6: Surprised to see the printrbot simple pro is only $699 now. Heated bed, linear rails, touchscreen, cloud printing, flex plate...not bad https://printrbot.com/shop/simple-v2/
Sep 14, 2017 7:23 PM - danzca6: btw, the adoptabot files are being released...he was showing off the nearly fully printed bot on today's facebook live stream

    Sep 15, 2017 1:46 AM - daniel871: Local pickup only.
Sep 15, 2017 5:22 AM - danzca6: haha...it's so big you would have to have a good sized trailer and either store it in your garage or have double doors into your basement.
Sep 15, 2017 6:32 AM - Geof: I'd pay the 1k and go pick up...but nothing more than that. lol. It will only be a profitable machine until you have to fix it or buy more material ;)
Sep 15, 2017 8:05 AM - daniel871: Well, the listing says the material is "expired" so odds are the printer will refuse to print with them.
Sep 15, 2017 8:09 AM - Geof: I dont believe the printer knows the expiration, just that your results may vary?
Sep 15, 2017 8:26 AM - daniel871: The cartridges are chipped on those printers, the materials are totally closed source and have expiration dates on them.
Sep 15, 2017 8:29 AM - Geof: ah gotya. Interesting.
Sep 15, 2017 8:29 AM - daniel871: They're the chipped cartridges on a DaVinci cranked up a couple layers of BS for the price point those machines operate at.
Sep 15, 2017 8:30 AM - Geof: I read somewhere the date doesn't much matter. more like a "best if used by"
Sep 15, 2017 8:30 AM - Geof: Could be wrong (likely is lol)
Sep 15, 2017 8:30 AM - daniel871: I read something similar, and that the machine will basically pause and complain until you hit an override every time it tries to use a particular color/material. So if you do a bunch of switching in a single print it's a tremendous headache.
Sep 15, 2017 8:31 AM - Geof: :D that would be a nightmare just to use up whats there lol
Sep 15, 2017 8:32 AM - Geof: have to get one of them birdies for the desk :D
Sep 15, 2017 8:32 AM - daniel871: Ugh, I was cleared to go back to work on Monday by my doctor yesterday.
Sep 15, 2017 8:33 AM - daniel871: After removing some sutures/stitches and being told to take it easy until then.
Sep 15, 2017 8:34 AM - daniel871: Ah well. Working from home is a pain in the ass anyway with how slow the Internet is out here for VPN work.
Sep 15, 2017 8:35 AM - danzca6: do you remote into work on VPN or just run apps local? I find it faster to remote into my office and run everything from there
Sep 15, 2017 8:35 AM - danzca6: good to hear you are progressing though
Sep 15, 2017 8:36 AM - danzca6: using remote desktop that is...in case I wasn't clear about remoing into work
Sep 15, 2017 8:37 AM - daniel871: It's TeamViewer, but yeah, remote in and run everything on the actual machine.
Sep 15, 2017 8:37 AM - daniel871: Problem is, It would take me almost six minutes to type up a note as long as my last comment via the VPN connection, so getting any actual work done is a really tedious process.
    Sep 15, 2017 8:38 AM - danzca6: wow that is rediculous
Sep 15, 2017 8:38 AM - daniel871: Well, six minutes waiting for the note to finish showing up on the remote screen view and make sure there aren't any typos.
Sep 15, 2017 8:39 AM - daniel871: (typos due to dropped characters that didn't go through the lag)
Sep 15, 2017 8:40 AM - daniel871: Supposedly the adopt-a-bot instructions will be finalized and published tomorrow?
    Sep 15, 2017 8:40 AM - daniel871: Or Monday?
Sep 15, 2017 8:42 AM - daniel871: Or just the 3d models for what to print?
Sep 15, 2017 8:44 AM - Geof: Just the 3d models to print. Today supposedly
Sep 15, 2017 8:47 AM - danzca6: did you watch yesterday's stream where he showed his build of it?
Sep 15, 2017 8:47 AM - Geof: I didn't. To much goin on to watch youtube live. Will try to catch the recording today.
    Sep 15, 2017 8:47 AM - danzca6: not a smalls...but looks doable...about a 4x4x4 build area
Sep 15, 2017 8:48 AM - Geof: I would imagine our phase 2 bots are going out soon then danz?
    Sep 15, 2017 8:48 AM - danzca6: it was on facebook
Sep 15, 2017 8:48 AM - Geof: thats plenty for a school. They normally dont run the ones in my area for more than a school day.
    Sep 15, 2017 8:48 AM - Geof: no overnights.
Sep 15, 2017 8:48 AM - Geof: ah yea i wouldn't ever see it then. no facebook :D
Sep 15, 2017 8:48 AM - danzca6: yeah he said shipping phase 2 parts this week...whice means in 2 weeks for Brook
Sep 15, 2017 8:49 AM - danzca6: I don't have facebook either, but you can still watch the livestreams
Sep 15, 2017 8:49 AM - danzca6: they port it over to youtube a few days later
    Sep 15, 2017 8:50 AM - danzca6: no heated bed either...so just PLA
Sep 15, 2017 8:51 AM - Geof: I dont know of many schools that do more than PLA :D
Sep 15, 2017 8:52 AM - Geof: I'd hate to be the service guy for the ones that try.
    Sep 15, 2017 8:52 AM - danzca6: yeah
Sep 15, 2017 8:53 AM - danzca6: what he was showing looks like a few mods would be in order...for one...a cover for the control board if it is going to be in a classroom
Sep 15, 2017 8:54 AM - daniel871: The model I saw looks like it needs some feet or something so the bed axis can actually move.
Sep 15, 2017 8:54 AM - danzca6: he made it so it can all be printed on the same build volume as the adobtabot so classrooms can make more
Sep 15, 2017 8:54 AM - daniel871: Unless the intent was for the machine to just randomly walk around on the table top.
Sep 15, 2017 8:54 AM - danzca6: the bed is up just enough to move it looks like...but feet might be good
Sep 15, 2017 8:54 AM - Geof: That works out. Fore up the large formats and do batches of 10 or more at a time lol
Sep 15, 2017 8:55 AM - danzca6: just to dampen noise if nothing else
Sep 15, 2017 8:55 AM - daniel871: I'm a little nervous about the attachment for the bed, it would be really easy for someone to break the bed off if they weren't careful removing a print.
Sep 15, 2017 8:55 AM - daniel871: Or at least warp the bed beyond any usability.
Sep 15, 2017 8:56 AM - danzca6: the bed can be removed with ease...just undo the two wing nuts
    Sep 15, 2017 8:56 AM - danzca6: then remove the part
Sep 15, 2017 8:56 AM - daniel871: Yeah, but what about the inevitable jackass that tries to pry a print off without removing the bed?
Sep 15, 2017 8:56 AM - daniel871: Kids give no fucks about proper machine care/safety.
    Sep 15, 2017 8:56 AM - daniel871: :p
Sep 15, 2017 8:56 AM - danzca6: he sits in the corner with a cone on his head
Sep 15, 2017 8:57 AM - danzca6: might be worth seeing about some spring steel
Sep 15, 2017 8:57 AM - danzca6: would make it easier to remove from the bed and pop off
    Sep 15, 2017 8:57 AM - danzca6: there's always that 1 or 2 or 3 kids in every class though
Sep 15, 2017 9:04 AM - daniel871: The ability to order some spare bed plates to have with the adopt-a-bot would be nice.
Sep 15, 2017 9:04 AM - daniel871: Both as actual spares and so that if some jerk kid bends a bed you can replace it.
Sep 15, 2017 9:05 AM - daniel871: And if all goes well they can swap the bed and start the next print while the finished print is removed and the bed is prepped for re-use later.
Sep 15, 2017 9:05 AM - danzca6: he may have that ... but he is one to kill anything that doesn't sell. Lots on his site goes away after awhile if he isn't seeing a certain volume being sold
    Sep 15, 2017 9:05 AM - danzca6: that would be a good idea dan
Sep 15, 2017 9:07 AM - daniel871: The solution to that is probably going to be "buy more kits so they just run multiple machines" since they're a steal at $40.
Sep 15, 2017 9:29 AM - Geof: not 40 anymore. He said more like 100 for the pieces and no printed parts :D
Sep 15, 2017 9:38 AM - daniel871: Still honoring the original orders, though?
    Sep 15, 2017 9:38 AM - danzca6: Yes
    Sep 15, 2017 9:38 AM - danzca6: Just phase 3 will be more
Sep 15, 2017 9:39 AM - daniel871: Ah well, should've bought more back when that was the price for the spare/swap situation.
Sep 15, 2017 9:39 AM - danzca6: I think it was limited to one per
Sep 15, 2017 10:07 AM - Geof: yea I believe they limited it. Even if you bought 3 your order got turned back to 1 and refunded.
Sep 15, 2017 10:18 AM - daniel871: Welp. I'll just see about sourcing some plates myself once I get the parts.
Sep 15, 2017 10:55 AM - Geof: look like basic stuff. Local machine shops probably have drops about the size you need if you reach out
    Sep 15, 2017 2:30 PM - danzca6: daniel if you haven't seen the model yet for the adopt a bot ... https://t.co/b1MePVZxrc
Sep 15, 2017 2:43 PM - danzca6: the build plate is 6.5x4.5x0.1 inches...not much to find and cut. Not sure if he is making it out of aluminum or not, but probably.

Sep 16, 2017 at 10:01 AM - jim3Dbot: Convention baking some old BRITTLE PLA @ 170F for 3hrs.......PLA is natually brittle but this, very. Let you know how it turns out....2-1/2hrs to go...
Sep 16, 2017 at 10:05 AM - jim3Dbot: Googling brittle PLA resorts in answers: exposed to UV, moisture, & cheap & old.....Don't think it's moisture causing brittleness....but, I own an oven...so worth a try...
Sep 16, 2017 at 10:12 AM - Geof: Mark Tomlinson has had some success with that
Sep 16, 2017 at 10:12 AM - Geof: I use it to fast to notice lol
    Sep 16, 2017 at 10:13 AM - jim3Dbot: LOL......I know that :)
Sep 16, 2017 at 10:15 AM - jim3Dbot: I think to a certain extent, the PLA will soften while it's hot.....whether or not it stays that way...I'll see
Sep 16, 2017 at 3:10 PM - jim3Dbot: Okay, cooked for 2.5hrs & allow to slowly come back to ambient......well, just as brittle....so thats' that.....But, I'm sure it's now hydro-challenged..........see how it prints now.
Sep 16, 2017 at 5:28 PM - Geof: That's surprising it's still brittle. IF not moisture it have to be just old and degraded. Hope it runs ok for you !
Sep 16, 2017 at 5:52 PM - mark tomlinson: Once PLA gets brittle it is wet. You might need to bake it longer. I have had good luck heating it for a bit and then dumping it in a bag with desiccant overnight
Sep 16, 2017 at 5:53 PM - mark tomlinson: Or just store it will desiccant longer term. OR just use it fast enough it never gets wet :)
    Sep 16, 2017 at 8:22 PM - jim3Dbot: Thanks Ge/Mt....I'll be printin' in the AM....I think its just old & cough, choke....stored wrong...it's black & what I needed....appreciate your comeback.

Sep 17, 2017 7:43 AM - daniel871: The best solution to PLA problems I've had was to ditch PLA altogether for printing in PETG.
Sep 17, 2017 8:27 AM - OutsourcedGuru: Sanity check: is the Robo3D.com website down?
    Sep 17, 2017 8:50 AM - WheresWaldo: Yes
    Sep 17, 2017 7:00 PM - jim3Dbot: Yep, Dan...your correct PETG, would be best....on my next roll......Part printed well........until the filament snapped.....as expected.......thanks bro's
    Sep 17, 2017 7:01 PM - jim3Dbot: Oh! Hello Waldo....glad to see your stayin' busy..............LOL I'm retired

Sep 18, 2017 11:10 AM - daniel871: Anybody know of any places to look other than ebay for hobbyist type metalworking machinery? I'm trying to track down a pan-and-box brake for sheet metal bending and the used ones I'm finding cost as much as a new one.
Sep 18, 2017 11:12 AM - daniel871: I mean, I found this one way over in California, but can't go over there for local pickup. http://www.ebay.com/itm/Northern-To...721595?hash=item1a33c55afb:g:rYYAAOSw8thZnbXc
    Sep 18, 2017 11:12 AM - daniel871:
    Sep 18, 2017 11:12 AM - danzca6: craigslist?
Sep 18, 2017 11:13 AM - daniel871: Wait, people use that for anything other than shady personals?
    Sep 18, 2017 11:14 AM - danzca6: sometimes
    Sep 18, 2017 11:14 AM - danzca6: I've gotten a few things off of it
    Sep 18, 2017 11:14 AM - daniel871: Hm. Found this one, but that's almost MSRP. https://atlanta.craigslist.org/nat/tld/d/jetsheet-metal-box-and-pan/6265843655.html
Sep 18, 2017 11:16 AM - danzca6: harbor freight has some as well if you don't want top of line
Sep 18, 2017 11:17 AM - daniel871: I've looked at them. The index-able blocks are kind of important for bending an actual box.
Sep 18, 2017 11:17 AM - daniel871: All that Harbor Freight has that's close to wide enough is a 36" bending machine that has reviews saying it warped trying to bend a 24" wide 18-gauge sheet.
    Sep 18, 2017 11:18 AM - daniel871: LOL: https://atlanta.craigslist.org/atl/tld/d/sheet-metal-machines/6255620796.html
Sep 18, 2017 11:34 AM - Geof: Daniel, a local machine shop can make you a box with their brake alot cheaper than you can buy one buddy :D
    Sep 18, 2017 11:39 AM - OutsourcedGuru: dfwinc.com, trademachines.com, govliquidation.com, surplex.com, https://www.machinetools.com/en/auctions
Sep 18, 2017 11:45 AM - OutsourcedGuru: And stuff like this can pan out sometimes: https://www.bidspotter.com/en-us/au...bsctho10284/search-filter?page=1&pageSize=240
Sep 18, 2017 11:57 AM - daniel871: I want to make a lot more than just one box, Geof.
Sep 18, 2017 12:07 PM - OutsourcedGuru: Overkill, I'm sure but there are several on auction today here https://www.bidspotter.com/en-us/auction-catalogues/asset-sales/catalogue-id-asset-10157?page=2
Sep 18, 2017 12:13 PM - Geof: That'd be a crapton of boxes to justify a few K in tooling. I'd keep an eye on the bay and likely one will pop up someone is selling. Lots of shops shutting down these days.
Sep 18, 2017 12:36 PM - daniel871: Each box sells for about $150 in the little groups that are buying them from the two other guys in the US making them.
Sep 18, 2017 12:36 PM - daniel871: Each one makes about a dozen every other week and they sell out within ten minutes of posting about having them available.
Sep 18, 2017 12:45 PM - daniel871: That's just for the one-shot box that's being used as an add-on for an existing product that the manufacturer sells. They make several different sizes, and the guys I'm talking about only make these add-ons for the largest product, there are four smaller sizes and a lot of people asking for them, but the guys making them aren't very willing to spend the time designing up smaller variations to sell which seems ludicrous to me.
Sep 18, 2017 12:47 PM - daniel871: Hence my spending the time looking because the things themselves would be super-easy to make if you had one of those brakes, a light-duty MIG welder and the time to put them together properly.
Sep 18, 2017 1:06 PM - Geof: indeed. Understand totally. I'm suprised they dont do larger runs if they are selling out of them unless its to keep the price up. Would cost quite a bit at our hourly so would have to do large runs in downtime in the shop to even make it profitable.
Sep 18, 2017 1:06 PM - Geof: as a hobbyist doing it for some side money makes sense.
Sep 18, 2017 1:09 PM - Geof: I use to use one of these way back when I was fabricating from home. http://www.grizzly.com/products/48-...BwE&utm_campaign=zPage&utm_source=grizzly.com
Sep 18, 2017 1:09 PM - Geof: not terrible, not great. Did the job. Never really pushed thick materials though. How thick are you goin for? (width and thickness would be good)
Sep 18, 2017 1:11 PM - Geof: I do recall having to use a piece of stainless on the stop to keep it from gouging softer materials. Cheap machine, what do ya expect ;)
Sep 18, 2017 1:56 PM - daniel871: 36" on the widest side, 16 gauge aluminum and stainless (the guys making the existing boxes use both materials)
Sep 18, 2017 2:01 PM - Geof: That one may be good enough to get ya rollin.
Sep 18, 2017 2:43 PM - danzca6: So ... thinking there might be an announcement at TCT next week
    Sep 18, 2017 2:43 PM - danzca6: My guess...watercooling for the hotend
Sep 18, 2017 2:44 PM - danzca6: if such a thing existed, what do you all think? Better than a fan?
Sep 18, 2017 3:02 PM - Geof: Meh fan works fine and cheap :)
Sep 18, 2017 3:10 PM - danzca6: yeah, but nothing like coming home to a puddle on your floor
Sep 18, 2017 3:13 PM - danzca6: bad Prusa...bad...how many times have I told you not in the house ... hahaha
    Sep 18, 2017 3:13 PM - danzca6: again...it's just a hunch
Sep 18, 2017 3:13 PM - danzca6: I know we saw some folks working on that at MRRF and just think it will hit the market at some point
Sep 18, 2017 3:56 PM - Geof: Seems all of those were leaking when we were there lol

    Sep 19, 2017 2:18 AM - daniel871: I thought water-cooled hotends were available back in 2014, just really expensive.
    Sep 19, 2017 6:09 AM - daniel871: Tom reviewed one in 2015:
Sep 19, 2017 6:20 AM - Geof: Yea I dont think it s new tech, I think its unreliable and expensive
    Sep 19, 2017 6:20 AM - Geof: (from what I've seen)
    Sep 19, 2017 6:20 AM - Bill Monroe: agreed
Sep 19, 2017 6:22 AM - Bill Monroe: well agreed it's not new.. water cooling isnt really expensive or unreliable, bazillions of laser cutters use it effortlessly.. but water cooling on a 3D printer doesnt really solve any issues that air cooling cant deal with
Sep 19, 2017 6:23 AM - Bill Monroe: along with materials selections
Sep 19, 2017 6:23 AM - Bill Monroe: BUT, lots of techno-nerds will buy it so, more power to the sellers
Sep 19, 2017 6:24 AM - Geof: Bill- well put :D Gimicky in our application
Sep 19, 2017 6:24 AM - Bill Monroe: ya, the fundamental driver of the business :)

    Sep 19, 2017 6:26 AM - Geof: no wait...I'm out again...sorry senses came back
    Sep 19, 2017 6:26 AM - Bill Monroe: chaCHING

    Sep 19, 2017 6:31 AM - Geof: really! Congrats!
    Sep 19, 2017 6:31 AM - Geof: (I hope in a good way otherwise I'm sorry!)
Sep 19, 2017 6:35 AM - Bill Monroe: oh ya... much better.. thanks
Sep 19, 2017 6:36 AM - Bill Monroe: more time off.. more interesting/fun.. and (big one) a LOT more money!
Sep 19, 2017 7:00 AM - Geof: hey thats awesome! Congrats!
Sep 19, 2017 7:43 AM - daniel871: Who was it that was testing transitional spools from Makergeeks? They just sent out an email about it.
Sep 19, 2017 7:43 AM - daniel871: $12 for a spool if you give zero Fs about material color when printing isn't bad if the base material itself still prints well.
Sep 19, 2017 7:44 AM - daniel871: (also a slightly better deal than the grab bag thing)
    Sep 19, 2017 7:44 AM - Geof: I have 3 spools of it
Sep 19, 2017 7:45 AM - daniel871: Has anybody ordered from them since their supposed transition to their new inventory tracking system? I'm still going through the inventory of PETG I ordered a bunch of spools through the grab bag deal a while back.
Sep 19, 2017 7:49 AM - Geof: I ordered stuff last week. Order went through fine but their system was 3 days behind on the tracking info and the arrival email :D
Sep 19, 2017 8:05 AM - daniel871: So no month-long waiting period like some people used to have when their specific thing was out of stock?
Sep 19, 2017 8:08 AM - Geof: I dont know, I've only ordered 2x in the last year (both orders in the last 2 weeks). The transitional spools I found one failed print due ot out of spec. A buldge in the filament. Cut out the bad section (sub 4 inches) and printing again with it.
Sep 19, 2017 8:08 AM - Geof: I havent run the two PETG yet.
Sep 19, 2017 8:09 AM - Geof: the downside of the transitional discount is you dont know what material you'll get. Could care less on color.
Sep 19, 2017 8:09 AM - Geof: but some people might get ABS that just cant run it.
Sep 19, 2017 8:09 AM - Geof: that SUUUUCCCCKKKSSSS lol

Sep 20, 2017 at 7:32 AM - daniel871: Supposedly going to be getting that Monoprice mini delta sometime next week. I set things up so it would be delivered at work since I have to sign for it, plus I figured if it wasn't too noisy it'd be a neat tchotchke to have on top of my desk.
Sep 20, 2017 at 7:33 AM - daniel871: The posts I've been seeing in the FB group for it that weren't a bunch of newbies floundering trying to figure out how to operate it are pretty impressive, too.
    Sep 20, 2017 at 7:33 AM - daniel871: Definitely not a Tiko flop.
Sep 20, 2017 at 7:51 AM - daniel871: Huh, just bought some Makergeeks grab bag stuff and got a shipping confirmation email with tracking not even 30 minutes after placing the order. Expected delivery the 26th since it was sent snail mail, but still. Neat.
Sep 20, 2017 at 8:38 AM - OutsourcedGuru: ^ At least I now know how to spell tchotchke

Sep 20, 2017 at 8:51 AM - daniel871: To hear some people tell it, the hotend heater will do the same thing before the electronics powering it fail.
    Sep 20, 2017 at 8:51 AM - OutsourcedGuru: I'm sure it's a good printer
Sep 20, 2017 at 9:04 AM - daniel871: Which MP is that, the delta or the Mini V2?
Sep 20, 2017 at 9:05 AM - daniel871: They use the same controller/screen layout, even if the Mini is a standard selector with knob vs. touch screen on the delta.
Sep 20, 2017 at 9:07 AM - OutsourcedGuru: ^ That was the last post on the FB thread for the Mini

    Sep 21, 2017 5:43 AM - Geof: Morning ALl
    Sep 21, 2017 6:01 AM - Geof: Danz I see you!!!!! :D
    Sep 21, 2017 10:15 AM - danzca6: Wait... I'm in ghost mode haha
    Sep 21, 2017 10:16 AM - danzca6: Anyone see Prusa's tease of a new printer/revision announced at NYMF this weekend? https://twitter.com/josefprusa/status/910885059351236608
    Sep 21, 2017 10:17 AM - Geof: lol I see all Danz...I SEE ALL
Sep 21, 2017 10:18 AM - Geof: LMAO why would I need touch ID?
    Sep 21, 2017 10:30 AM - daniel871: Pretty sure that's a joke post.
    Sep 21, 2017 11:14 AM - danzca6: yeah...but he's been hinting at something new coming
Sep 21, 2017 11:15 AM - danzca6: I guess we will see after the weekend if anything comes from NYMF
    Sep 21, 2017 11:16 AM - daniel871: Pre-assembled MK2 with MMU item in the Prusa store.
Sep 21, 2017 11:17 AM - danzca6: like the one Tom got? Maybe
Sep 21, 2017 11:17 AM - danzca6: He sent one to Joel and Angus as well I think
Sep 21, 2017 11:22 AM - Geof: I heard they are not going to offer preassembled ones.
Sep 21, 2017 11:23 AM - daniel871: I like how Angus and Joel both ignored my "whoever was complaining about unsolicited packages can forward them to me and I'll pay shipping if you don't want them"
Sep 21, 2017 11:25 AM - danzca6: shipping from AUS would be expensive
Sep 21, 2017 11:27 AM - danzca6: I think Prusa misses his big leadtimes...all that new space and employees...he needs something new and big to pay for it
Sep 21, 2017 11:29 AM - daniel871: It would still be less than the cost of buying the thing plus shipping.
Sep 21, 2017 11:30 AM - daniel871: Unless Prusa ran another free shipping thing.
Sep 21, 2017 11:52 AM - Geof: I doubt he misses it but when your caught up enough to do same day shipping that means your selling less than your making (not good long term)
Sep 21, 2017 11:56 AM - danzca6: Yeah he has grown pretty fast with the MK2. Of course that almost 2 years old now. So he will need to come up with something new soon.
Sep 21, 2017 11:57 AM - danzca6: Geof did you see that Lauren's friend with the R1+ and bed leveling issues joined Twitter today?
    Sep 21, 2017 12:01 PM - daniel871: Lauren who?
    Sep 21, 2017 12:08 PM - danzca6: some gal
    Sep 21, 2017 12:08 PM - danzca6: hahaha
Sep 21, 2017 12:09 PM - danzca6: trying to find a post from yesterday that had 10 1kg spools of PLA for $99
    Sep 21, 2017 12:11 PM - Geof: I did not. 10 KG for 100?
Sep 21, 2017 12:11 PM - Geof: good deal. DM me on it when you find it buddy!
Sep 21, 2017 12:12 PM - Geof: Today is reseal all my partial spools form the last production runs. Ugh...no fun at all.
Sep 21, 2017 12:14 PM - danzca6: you need a humidity controlled room you can just store it all in
Sep 21, 2017 12:15 PM - Geof: I have one :D lol. Stuff still gets wet depending on the day. Easier to just seal it up vs deal with it later
Sep 21, 2017 12:16 PM - Geof: the shop is AC and dehumidified :D. The home shop is too! but you already knew that :p its filling back up quite nicely lol
Sep 21, 2017 12:16 PM - Geof: I dont think these last runs will come back through for a few months, last time i left them all out even with the humidity control they were still really wierd running vs new. Now I just seal it all! (and double seal nylon and pva lol)
Sep 21, 2017 12:21 PM - danzca6: Zyltech.com is the company that had the 10 rolls. I just see $130....maybe there is some other spot for the special. I guess Clayton has been using it and they are printing fine for him.
Sep 21, 2017 12:22 PM - Geof: pretty good deal. 10 bucks is cheap. Would buy 100 for all these cosplay helmets I've gotta make lol.
    Sep 21, 2017 12:23 PM - danzca6: hmmm...fron Houston...wonder if it is a flood sale
    Sep 21, 2017 12:24 PM - danzca6: https://www.zyltech.com/store/p163/...ament_1.75_mm_1_kg_2.2_lbs_-_Milky_White.html
    Sep 21, 2017 12:24 PM - danzca6: 10 for $99
    Sep 21, 2017 12:24 PM - danzca6: and free shipping on orders over $75
Sep 21, 2017 12:25 PM - Geof: Danz use code UncleJessey! for apparently 15% off order
Sep 21, 2017 12:25 PM - Geof: I'm gonna do the black. I hate white PLA lol
Sep 21, 2017 12:25 PM - danzca6: They have white ABS as well for same price
Sep 21, 2017 12:25 PM - danzca6: looks like additional codes may not apply
Sep 21, 2017 12:25 PM - Geof: maybe not on the code
    Sep 21, 2017 12:25 PM - Geof: says no extra off ;)
Sep 21, 2017 12:26 PM - Geof: I think were on the same site but I"m on the black ones lol
Sep 21, 2017 12:26 PM - danzca6: yeah they have black and white PLA in the 10 packs
Sep 21, 2017 12:26 PM - danzca6: I thought of you when I saw it last night, but was walking the dog and couldn't find it again when I got home
Sep 21, 2017 12:27 PM - Geof: lol :D I googled then found the site found the deal and ordered :D
Sep 21, 2017 12:27 PM - Geof: thats like 3 days of run time. I'm A OK with that price !
Sep 21, 2017 12:28 PM - danzca6: good...I hope they prove to be good for you...great price and more profit
Sep 21, 2017 12:29 PM - Geof: cheaper prices more work with this stuff probably :D
Sep 21, 2017 12:30 PM - Geof: lol. The helmet jobs saving alone make it worth it. thats about 12 in material per helmet...yes please lol.
    Sep 21, 2017 12:30 PM - Geof: (vs like 42)
Sep 21, 2017 12:31 PM - danzca6: so did you see this deal before now?
Sep 21, 2017 12:31 PM - Geof: They also have both style lcds for our little robos and a bunch of random parts
    Sep 21, 2017 12:31 PM - Geof: https://www.zyltech.com/store.html
Sep 21, 2017 12:31 PM - Geof: nope just started googling when you were talkin about it lol.
    Sep 21, 2017 12:32 PM - danzca6: hahaha...ok
    Sep 21, 2017 12:32 PM - danzca6: you're a google wizard
    Sep 21, 2017 12:34 PM - danzca6: you ever use a steel reinforced belt on a printer?
Sep 21, 2017 12:35 PM - danzca6: I see they have some and wonder if they wouldn't stretch as much
Sep 21, 2017 12:35 PM - danzca6: different pulley gears would be needed though
Sep 21, 2017 12:37 PM - Geof: yes, thats all I use on mine. Reduces lash when printing fast.
Sep 21, 2017 12:37 PM - Geof: My type a literally wont run without it.
Sep 21, 2017 12:38 PM - Geof: You talkin just reinforced GT2 belts ? or something else?
Sep 21, 2017 12:38 PM - Geof: I use the reinforced GT2 and no new pulleys needed.
Sep 21, 2017 12:40 PM - daniel871: Hm. I wonder if the Bondtech I have on my i3 can handle pulling filament off one of these: https://www.pushplastic.com/collections/3-kg-bulk-reel/products/bulk-petg?variant=29814193991
Sep 21, 2017 12:40 PM - danzca6: oh where do you get the GT2 reinforced
Sep 21, 2017 12:40 PM - daniel871: But the 10kg option, not the 3kg option, not worth it.
    Sep 21, 2017 12:43 PM - daniel871: Also maybe these? http://www.ebay.com/itm/2M-3M-5M-GT...hash=item51fe5fee25:m:mktyZ7T4pRjBDp_zZmGCgGQ
Sep 21, 2017 12:43 PM - danzca6: may need a stepper motor to assist with the spool
    Sep 21, 2017 12:43 PM - daniel871: Steel core belts.
Sep 21, 2017 12:44 PM - daniel871: I was thinking an overhead pipe structure like what some other folks use that the spool cannot be removed from once mounted without taking the pipe assembly apart.
Sep 21, 2017 12:45 PM - daniel871: Come home to the i3 in the air disconnected from power.
    Sep 21, 2017 12:49 PM - mark tomlinson: poltergeist?
    Sep 21, 2017 12:52 PM - Geof: lol!
Sep 21, 2017 12:53 PM - Geof: Danz I ordered mine from the OEM for the Type A and they send a bunch extra so I just cut and put on the other printers :D ;) McMaster should have it too
Sep 21, 2017 12:54 PM - danzca6: McMaster isn't too far of a drive to just pick up as well...thanks
Sep 21, 2017 12:55 PM - Geof: Np! I'll look tomorrow and see if I can find a link to it. I ended up finding it once but cant remember if I had to email them for a quote
Sep 21, 2017 1:03 PM - Geof: Danz, fiberglass reinforced ones. I cant run the regular belt without reinforced.
    Sep 21, 2017 1:03 PM - Geof: https://www.amazon.com/Mercurry-Met...52&sr=8-1&keywords=reinforced+gt2+timing+belt
Sep 21, 2017 1:04 PM - Geof: the plain jane cheapo stuff stetches to much.
    Sep 21, 2017 1:37 PM - danzca6: thanks Geof
Sep 21, 2017 1:38 PM - danzca6: does the robo come with reinforced belts or just cheapos? I don't think I've ever looked.
Sep 21, 2017 2:31 PM - daniel871: Looks like my adoptabot is on the way.
    Sep 21, 2017 2:31 PM - daniel871: Tracking notice came in.
    Sep 21, 2017 2:34 PM - danzca6: oh...I need to check my mail
    Sep 21, 2017 2:35 PM - danzca6: yep, got my notice as well...yeah!
    Sep 21, 2017 2:36 PM - danzca6:

Sep 21, 2017 2:48 PM - danzca6: They also updated the Fusion 360 project with V1 and has some slight changes
    Sep 21, 2017 5:44 PM - danzca6: found these for steel enforced GT2 belts...not a bad price. I may try them out http://a.co/d1zIuZq

Sep 22, 2017 at 7:43 AM - WheresWaldo: Geof, I wasn't speaking of 3DlLAC but I have not seen that they are actually any more effective than Aquanet in the purple can, plus I can buy like 4 cans v 1 can.
Sep 22, 2017 at 8:32 AM - Geof: Depends on the material. The can that came with my sigma lasted me a little over a year :D
Sep 22, 2017 at 8:32 AM - Geof: new hairspray weekly
    Sep 22, 2017 at 9:03 AM - danzca6: More teases of a new Prusa printer https://twitter.com/josefprusa/status/911227715088502784
Sep 22, 2017 at 9:12 AM - danzca6: this time with freakin lasers tied to their heads...oh wait...that's sharks from Austin Powers
Sep 22, 2017 at 9:13 AM - danzca6: I am not sure if that is a new bed leveling component or if he is going to add a laser module to the I3
    Sep 22, 2017 at 9:18 AM - danzca6: or maybe an SLA...hmmm
Sep 22, 2017 at 9:23 AM - daniel871: A printer that will go ahead and set itself on fire if there is a fault in the electronics?
    Sep 22, 2017 at 9:25 AM - danzca6: yikes...a suicidal printer
    Sep 22, 2017 at 11:07 AM - danzca6: https://twitter.com/josefprusa/status/911279647719067649
Sep 22, 2017 at 11:23 AM - WheresWaldo: Dan that is interesting.
Sep 22, 2017 at 11:29 AM - danzca6: yeah he is teasing all sorts of things coming for this MKX printer that is supposed to be revealed tomorrow
Sep 22, 2017 at 11:32 AM - WheresWaldo: Prusa has sure gotten his mileage out of this old printer. Periodic small improvements over it's life.
Sep 22, 2017 at 11:33 AM - daniel871: What'd be really nice is if he made the move over to a CoreXY-style design and put as much thought into it as he has the i3 platform.
Sep 22, 2017 at 11:34 AM - daniel871: Also I like that one tweet where someone said they need to ditch the "big white POS" they have now that turned out to be the R2 when asked.
Sep 22, 2017 at 11:34 AM - WheresWaldo: I would love to see whats in his mind if he was to do a Ultimaker clone of some kind.
Sep 22, 2017 at 11:36 AM - WheresWaldo: Dan, I am actually liking the R2, it had and still has a few issues, they can all be worked through. The problwm is at $1500 you expect perfect out of the box, and you should expect it. If it isn't people lose patience really fast.
Sep 22, 2017 at 11:38 AM - WheresWaldo: Plus the internet has a disproportionate number of haters compared to the general population. People with issues want everyone else to know it, and many fewer that are fine are likely to tell everyone about their successes.
Sep 22, 2017 at 11:43 AM - daniel871: The person in particular is one of the people that has access to several printers they're happy with, they're just really disappointed with the R2 especially with the price tag on it.
    Sep 22, 2017 at 11:44 AM - danzca6: hahaha....I think I know that person daniel
Sep 22, 2017 at 11:44 AM - daniel871: I wish someone other than Joel Telling was "reviewing" the R2 because pretty much anybody else would be done with it by now and wouldn't be wasting a ton of time on PLA coins.
Sep 22, 2017 at 11:45 AM - danzca6: Angus, Tom, or Chuck would be good choices to include
Sep 22, 2017 at 11:46 AM - WheresWaldo: I can't see where she asked for any help on the board, but who knows. Dan you and I are not far off on what we think about the pricing.
Sep 22, 2017 at 11:48 AM - WheresWaldo: I can't recall where Joel has ever done a review of a bad product. He tends to want the product to work or at least be fixed to work.
Sep 22, 2017 at 11:48 AM - daniel871: Was Chuck one of the few that actually posted a review of the R1?
Sep 22, 2017 at 11:48 AM - WheresWaldo: Danz, who is Chuck?
Sep 22, 2017 at 11:49 AM - daniel871: If it's who I think it is, it's a cranky old man that does video overviews of 3d printers and other hobbyist things.
Sep 22, 2017 at 11:49 AM - daniel871: They haven't done anything that I've seen in my Youtube feed in a long time though.
Sep 22, 2017 at 11:49 AM - WheresWaldo: Not up on all the YTer's I generally just watch PC based channels
Sep 22, 2017 at 11:50 AM - daniel871: Most of my Youtube feed is either silly videogame related stuff or "watch a timelapse of the author building cool shit set to the kind of music I like" like Make It Extreme.
Sep 22, 2017 at 11:51 AM - WheresWaldo: Other than when I started using 3D printers I did learn a bit from Tom, then quite a bit from Angus. I don't watch to be entertained, rather want to find something out or how to do something.
Sep 22, 2017 at 11:51 AM - daniel871: I think Tom spends a lot more time on editing and lighting than he should/anybody else.
Sep 22, 2017 at 11:52 AM - daniel871: At least in his recent not-live-streamed videos.
Sep 22, 2017 at 11:52 AM - daniel871: I cracked up when he got burned by the Anet E10 though.

Sep 22, 2017 at 11:53 AM - WheresWaldo: I am now just watching his livestreams, but not every one, only ones I think might be interesting. Most of my feed is Hardware Unboxed, Gamer Nexus, PCPer, JayzTwoCents and the like.
    Sep 22, 2017 at 11:55 AM - danzca6: Chuck Hellebuyck
Sep 22, 2017 at 11:56 AM - daniel871: Yeah that's the guy, but I remembered him being much older for some reason.
    Sep 22, 2017 at 11:56 AM - daniel871:
Sep 22, 2017 at 11:56 AM - WheresWaldo: Yeah, I have watched one or two of his videos.
Sep 22, 2017 at 11:56 AM - danzca6: he is really nice...I met him at MRRF
Sep 22, 2017 at 11:56 AM - Geof: ditto. super nice guy.
Sep 22, 2017 at 11:56 AM - daniel871: I see him trying really hard to be entertaining on Twitter and it doesn't work.
Sep 22, 2017 at 11:56 AM - daniel871: (feel the same about that Barnacules guy though)
Sep 22, 2017 at 11:57 AM - Geof: But Daniel we dont all have your sense of humor ;) he cracks me up some days
Sep 22, 2017 at 11:58 AM - WheresWaldo: I gave up on Barnacles a very long time ago, even unsubscribed to his channel.
Sep 22, 2017 at 11:58 AM - danzca6: yeah, he has gone a different direction
Sep 22, 2017 at 11:59 AM - WheresWaldo: I am almost ready to unsubscribe to LinusTechTips too
Sep 22, 2017 at 12:01 PM - WheresWaldo: The only kinda stupid channel I am subscribed to is MXR Mods, because he does regular reviews of FO4 mods and I have nearly 2000 hours invested in that stupid game across two platforms.
Sep 22, 2017 at 12:08 PM - daniel871: I think the last time I got a laugh out of Fallout 4 mods and videos online was when an uber-nerd created a Saitama character in the game.
    Sep 22, 2017 at 12:08 PM - daniel871: Complete with yellow jumpsuit
Sep 22, 2017 at 12:10 PM - Geof: lol now that I'd want to see
Sep 22, 2017 at 12:10 PM - Geof: tell me one hit kills too
Sep 22, 2017 at 12:10 PM - Geof: no guns all punches
    Sep 22, 2017 at 12:18 PM - daniel871:
Sep 22, 2017 at 12:19 PM - Geof: lol thats funny
Sep 22, 2017 at 12:20 PM - daniel871: That person has a whole bunch of videos where they run around with that character punching various things in the game.
Sep 22, 2017 at 12:21 PM - Geof: lol when in rome right ?
Sep 22, 2017 at 12:21 PM - Geof: never played fallout
Sep 22, 2017 at 12:30 PM - WheresWaldo: I like slow games with a lot of exploring, usually in dystopian environments. Not a twitch game player.
Sep 22, 2017 at 12:31 PM - Geof: the lady and I play togather so its mostly fighting games since all the gaming world apparently hated split screen option D:
Sep 22, 2017 at 12:45 PM - daniel871: Enter the Gungeon is pretty good for casual coop.

Sep 23, 2017 at 5:25 AM - danzca6: http://shop.prusa3d.com/en/ site down...today we will know what MKX is all about
Sep 23, 2017 at 7:22 AM - danzca6: Prusa just released the info on his site
    Sep 23, 2017 at 7:29 AM - danzca6:
    Sep 23, 2017 at 7:30 AM - danzca6: http://www.prusaprinters.org/original-prusa-i3-mk3-bloody-smart/
    Sep 23, 2017 at 8:00 AM - danzca6: And an upgrade for MK2/S owners http://shop.prusa3d.com/en/printer-upgrades/179-original-prusa-i3-mk2s-to-mk25-upgrade-kit.html
    Sep 23, 2017 at 8:03 AM - danzca6: well a 2.5 so almost
Sep 23, 2017 at 8:04 AM - WheresWaldo: Dan, while som,e of thatr is pretty cool others are really incremental upgrades. But like people say, why fix it if it ain't broken.
Sep 23, 2017 at 8:06 AM - danzca6: it's only $50 over the MK2S kit price and gives you some nice features for the difference. So if you were looking at getting the MK2S, then this is a far better deal
Sep 23, 2017 at 8:07 AM - WheresWaldo: Agreed considering the pricing. But nothing here is earth shattering, just making a good printer better.
Sep 23, 2017 at 8:07 AM - danzca6: The new Y structure is a lot better and the controller board 24V with trimatic drivers and such...
    Sep 23, 2017 at 8:07 AM - danzca6: true
Sep 23, 2017 at 8:08 AM - danzca6: power loss recovery is cool
    Sep 23, 2017 at 8:08 AM - danzca6: the robo C2/R2 doesn't even have that
    Sep 23, 2017 at 8:08 AM - danzca6: And no X/Y endstops...that will be interesting
Sep 23, 2017 at 8:09 AM - WheresWaldo: While people rav about the stepper drivers they are not a godsend, they have issues too.
Sep 23, 2017 at 8:09 AM - WheresWaldo: So they use the sensor for everything?
Sep 23, 2017 at 8:11 AM - danzca6: not sure how it works
Sep 23, 2017 at 8:12 AM - danzca6: Joel mentioned it in his video today
Sep 23, 2017 at 8:12 AM - WheresWaldo: I like their implementation of the removable bed better than Robo's that was smart to leave permanent connections to the bed heater and thermistor and just remove the print surface.
    Sep 23, 2017 at 8:12 AM - danzca6: exactly
Sep 23, 2017 at 8:12 AM - danzca6: So many posts about that issue
Sep 23, 2017 at 8:13 AM - danzca6: and there is a direct plugin for pi zero for the prusa
Sep 23, 2017 at 8:13 AM - WheresWaldo: It's not like you have more access when the Robo's bed is removed since the based is not an open frame.
Sep 23, 2017 at 8:14 AM - WheresWaldo: Meh on the plugin, They still run OctoPrint and it uses USB to control the printer. So adding one via that means is no big deal.
Sep 23, 2017 at 8:14 AM - danzca6: even senses the RPM of the fans
    Sep 23, 2017 at 8:14 AM - danzca6: Noctua for hotend cooling
Sep 23, 2017 at 8:15 AM - WheresWaldo: Where was the fan rpm sensing mentioned, it is not in Prusa's video.
Sep 23, 2017 at 8:15 AM - danzca6: check his blog and Joel mentioned it as well
    Sep 23, 2017 at 8:15 AM - danzca6: http://www.prusaprinters.org/original-prusa-i3-mk3-bloody-smart/
Sep 23, 2017 at 8:16 AM - danzca6: the blog gives far better detail
    Sep 23, 2017 at 8:16 AM - danzca6: and there is layer shift detection...hmm
Sep 23, 2017 at 8:18 AM - WheresWaldo: I like how they use the term 'partner' they buy from Noctua, it's just a DC fan with rpm sensing, same 3-pin you can buy for your PC.
Sep 23, 2017 at 8:19 AM - danzca6: true, but they put in the bits to actually take advantage of the data to know when the RPM is too low
Sep 23, 2017 at 8:19 AM - WheresWaldo: The layer shift I would like to know how they accomplished that. All the firmware changes means that it will be harder to use generic Marlin, but at least Prusa is catching up to the current Marlin releases.
Sep 23, 2017 at 8:21 AM - WheresWaldo: The Bondtech hardware addition is nice, it is so strong they probably could have gone with a 22 mm Stepper instead of the more standard 42 mm.
Sep 23, 2017 at 8:23 AM - danzca6: yeah he uses the same setup for his MM
Sep 23, 2017 at 8:24 AM - danzca6: I expected it would trickle down to the base i3 eventually
Sep 23, 2017 at 8:25 AM - WheresWaldo: Do you know if anyone is livestreaming from MFNY?
Sep 23, 2017 at 8:27 AM - WheresWaldo: Make: magazine is streaming
    Sep 23, 2017 at 8:27 AM - danzca6: not that I know of yet
Sep 23, 2017 at 8:29 AM - WheresWaldo: Make: is all over the map. I don't see that they have any sessions on 3D printing.
    Sep 23, 2017 at 8:29 AM - danzca6: btw, the MK2S kit is now only $599
    Sep 23, 2017 at 8:29 AM - danzca6: that's a shame...Make: is an interesting team at times...lots there to cover though
Sep 23, 2017 at 8:30 AM - WheresWaldo: I know Angus is there and so is his girlfriend/cameraperson, but don't see anything up yet.
Sep 23, 2017 at 8:33 AM - danzca6: he said he was going to try and enjoy the moment more than trying to film everything. I expect a highlight video, but probably not a lot of livestreaming from him this time
    Sep 23, 2017 at 8:33 AM - WheresWaldo: Ah
Sep 23, 2017 at 8:34 AM - danzca6: I don't think Joel brought his camera man this time either
Sep 23, 2017 at 8:34 AM - danzca6: not that it was all that great coverage by him at MFBA
    Sep 23, 2017 at 8:36 AM - danzca6: Dremel just announced a 40W laser
    Sep 23, 2017 at 8:36 AM - danzca6: https://makezine.com/2017/09/23/dremel-announces-40-watt-laser-cutter/
    Sep 23, 2017 at 8:37 AM - danzca6: looks like a glowforge
    Sep 23, 2017 at 8:44 AM - danzca6: one thing I'm not seeing on the MK3....twist ties
    Sep 23, 2017 at 8:47 AM - WheresWaldo: I just don't like Joel's livestreams
Sep 23, 2017 at 8:47 AM - WheresWaldo: Is the Dremel way overpriced?
    Sep 23, 2017 at 8:48 AM - danzca6: not sure...preorder early 2018 and release summer 2018
    Sep 23, 2017 at 8:48 AM - danzca6: haven't seen the price yet
Sep 23, 2017 at 8:50 AM - WheresWaldo: Sorry for that, it was a dumb question, Dremel doesn't make anything anymore, except their rotary tools, they relabel other stuff, so it is proabably a rebranded Glowforge with an upcharge for the dremel gray paint and thheir name stenciled on the front.
    Sep 23, 2017 at 8:51 AM - danzca6: HAHAHA...you are probably 100% correct
Sep 23, 2017 at 8:53 AM - WheresWaldo: The Dremel table looks like it has two 2014 R2 printers on it. A picture is in the Live Updates blog post.
Sep 23, 2017 at 8:55 AM - WheresWaldo: I think they are relabeled DaVinci's but I just noticed how similar the exterior designs were. I am glad they made the R2 prettier. I wonder if the R2.5 could have a Prusa-like solution for the removable bed.
    Sep 23, 2017 at 8:56 AM - danzca6: is there going to be a 2.5 already?
    Sep 23, 2017 at 8:56 AM - danzca6: btw, https://makezine.com/product-review/prusa-i3-mk3/
    Sep 23, 2017 at 8:56 AM - danzca6: Make: got 2 units sent
Sep 23, 2017 at 8:56 AM - danzca6: the other 2 units are at MFNY
Sep 23, 2017 at 8:57 AM - danzca6: I've heard that review units will hit mid Oct
Sep 23, 2017 at 8:58 AM - WheresWaldo: I am just thinking out loud.
    Sep 23, 2017 at 8:58 AM - danzca6: well...there should be
Sep 23, 2017 at 8:59 AM - danzca6: seems like a few changes could make a world of difference
Sep 23, 2017 at 8:59 AM - WheresWaldo: I am not disagreeing with you.
Sep 23, 2017 at 9:00 AM - WheresWaldo: Bed and cooling are the two biggest issues. If they can change those aspects then the other stuff is minor.
Sep 23, 2017 at 9:02 AM - WheresWaldo: Since I just finished the E3D swap, I am going to focus on uncoupling RoboOS from their GITHUB and going as generic as possible. They certainly are not software people.
    Sep 23, 2017 at 9:07 AM - danzca6: sounds like a heroic effort ... good luck
Sep 23, 2017 at 9:09 AM - WheresWaldo: Ton of work but I actually like RoboOS, just hate all the other stuff they have included and forcing me to use old versions of plugins and OctoPrint.
Sep 23, 2017 at 9:09 AM - WheresWaldo: and their distro is a mess
    Sep 23, 2017 at 9:10 AM - danzca6: they may need to hire a consultant...looking for a side job?
    Sep 23, 2017 at 9:11 AM - WheresWaldo: I am happy being semi-retired.
Sep 23, 2017 at 2:31 PM - daniel871: Adopt-a-bot kit came in today. Still waiting on finalized parts to print.
Sep 23, 2017 at 2:43 PM - danzca6: Can always grab them from the Fusion 360 project they link to on the product page. A zip if the stl files should be available by EOD Monday

Sep 24, 2017 4:23 AM - danzca6: There are the printed parts needed
    Sep 24, 2017 4:59 AM - danzca6: http://adoptabot.org
Sep 24, 2017 5:07 AM - daniel871: The best thing about the MK3 rollout to me is how Prusa isn't radically jacking the price up. Just slightly more expensive than the MK2S original price, while the MK2S price dropped to refurbished R1+ price.
Sep 24, 2017 5:09 AM - danzca6: yeah a $50 change on the kit for all of those changes is really respectable
Sep 24, 2017 5:09 AM - danzca6: and shipping is only $50 for the MK3 and it was $87 for the MK2S. So he is discounting that as well. Not sure for how long.
Sep 24, 2017 5:12 AM - danzca6: I just hope his new facility and staff size can keep up with demand this time
Sep 24, 2017 5:15 AM - daniel871: Eh. There is a lot of griping from people that "just bought the MK2S and now this comes out".
Sep 24, 2017 5:16 AM - daniel871: And it's nice that they got all the Adopt-a-Bot objects in one STL file, I guess. Now I just need to figure out whether I want to attempt doing that in one go or go through the :effort: of splitting them up into individual pieces.
Sep 24, 2017 5:20 AM - daniel871: LOL, they need to adjust the layout for the folks that don't know how to rotate STLs in their slicer. [IMG]
Sep 24, 2017 5:21 AM - danzca6: I'm not sure why they don't just have a zip of the stls
Sep 24, 2017 5:22 AM - danzca6: at this stage though, anyone working on this should have a level of understanding to work it out I guess
Sep 24, 2017 5:23 AM - danzca6: back to Prusa, he did state that anyone that ordered MK2S within the last 30 days or so can get the 2.5 upgrade for $99 instead of $199
Sep 24, 2017 5:23 AM - danzca6: change is just part of the game...bad luck on those that just ordered, but that happens
Sep 24, 2017 5:26 AM - daniel871: I don't normally Raft. But I figure every little bit will help making sure no random piece hops off while printing. [IMG]
Sep 24, 2017 5:27 AM - daniel871: Just extra cleanup before using the parts (dremel with sanding wheel on bottom of parts to clean off raft bits). Going 100% solid PETG with the 0.8mm nozzle.
Sep 24, 2017 5:28 AM - danzca6: sounds like the tolerances for the 8mm bars are pretty tight. So may need to ream them out a bit to get the bars to fit
Sep 24, 2017 5:29 AM - danzca6: well, the holes in the printed parts at least
    Sep 24, 2017 5:29 AM - danzca6: you know what I mean...I need some caffeine this morning

Sep 25, 2017 6:10 AM - daniel871: Also lol at Beth calling Rick "Fake News" when he told her she was a bad mom.
    Sep 25, 2017 9:38 AM - danzca6: https://www.bcn3dtechnologies.com/en/3d-printer/bcn3d-sigmax/
Sep 25, 2017 9:39 AM - danzca6: looks like bsn3d released a new printer with some upgrades. I couldn't even think of affording it though
Sep 25, 2017 9:41 AM - daniel871: There's a joke about the one axis being 420 moon units, but I'm too tired to sort it right now.
    Sep 25, 2017 9:43 AM - danzca6: hahaha
Sep 25, 2017 9:53 AM - Geof: the one bummer on the sigma is not extending the Z Height. That kinda sucks.
Sep 25, 2017 10:01 AM - danzca6: SigmaMaX...I think you are looking for the SigmaMaZ printer
Sep 25, 2017 10:03 AM - danzca6: of course a SigmaMaXYZ would be even better
Sep 25, 2017 10:03 AM - Geof: lol no I'm just looking fo ra reason to justify the purchase when all theyh did is extend the X and 1.5x the cost :D
Sep 25, 2017 10:03 AM - Geof: upsetting to see. They should have scaled 2x all axis for that much money
    Sep 25, 2017 10:03 AM - Geof: (IMO) lol
    Sep 25, 2017 10:03 AM - Geof: I got jazzed up...then dissapointed :D
Sep 25, 2017 10:07 AM - danzca6: yeah...it wasn't nearly as impressive as the jump Prusa took. I was hoping for more from BCN. Hopefully something more will come out of TCT than just that
Sep 25, 2017 10:08 AM - Geof: I will pick up a MK3 just because the price is sub 1k still and to add to my home farm but I am really not all that excited about alot of the features lol.
Sep 25, 2017 10:08 AM - Geof: I'm beginning to not get excited about alot of OEM machines lol
Sep 25, 2017 10:09 AM - Geof: This will be my next build though :D http://hdrobotic.com/open-source/
Sep 25, 2017 10:09 AM - Geof: it just looks fun and I dig open source stuff to help tweak and tune.
Sep 25, 2017 10:39 AM - danzca6: that's cool...just don't be caught like Wolowitz on Big Bang and have to go the ED :)
Sep 25, 2017 10:59 AM - Geof: LMAO! Right! :D would be fun to play with. mill attachment and a 3dp extruder.
Sep 25, 2017 11:00 AM - Geof: those would be my 2 "wants" out of it.
Sep 25, 2017 6:35 PM - daniel871: Welp. My PETG full plate printed beautifully except for a newb problem I forgot about. Don't use rafts, especially with PETG.
    Sep 25, 2017 6:35 PM - daniel871: Reprinting without the raft.
Sep 25, 2017 6:41 PM - daniel871: Abstract red PETG cityscape will be spare parts to pry out and separate later.
    Sep 25, 2017 7:59 PM - danzca6: Doh!
    Sep 25, 2017 8:38 PM - Toro1966: saw on amazon they have the R1+ for pre-order on Nov 1
    Sep 25, 2017 8:39 PM - Toro1966: Not sure what that's about.

Sep 26, 2017 6:37 AM - daniel871: Also, holy crap check out the mainboard on the MK3 that Tom Sanladerer shared on Twitter: https://twitter.com/toms3dp/status/912662137843191808
    Sep 26, 2017 6:37 AM - daniel871: Those screw terminals.
Sep 26, 2017 6:38 AM - daniel871: Also automotive fuses and trinamic stepper drivers.
Sep 26, 2017 6:54 AM - danzca6: the the trinamic drivers are sweet
Sep 26, 2017 6:55 AM - danzca6: that is how he is doing layer shift recovery and homing of x and y without limit switches
Sep 26, 2017 7:02 AM - danzca6: Josef just tweated daring anyone to stop by and through the mains power. He has a display showing how many recoveries and such
Sep 26, 2017 7:05 AM - Geof: Buy it gents :D buy it . I cant imagine it being a bad investment :D
    Sep 26, 2017 7:34 AM - daniel871: That board isn't available yet.
Sep 26, 2017 7:35 AM - daniel871: It's an Ultimachine Mini-Rambo variant that they're posting on GitHub about, but it isn't available in their store yet.
    Sep 26, 2017 7:36 AM - daniel871: https://github.com/ultimachine/Einsy-Rambo
Sep 26, 2017 7:45 AM - danzca6: yeah I'm sure it was custom for Prusa
Sep 26, 2017 7:45 AM - danzca6: Wonder if they would be selling them seperate or if you would need to buy it from Prusa
Sep 26, 2017 8:02 AM - Geof: likely from Prusa.
Sep 26, 2017 8:02 AM - Geof: They tend to hold more things themselves now.
Sep 26, 2017 7:55 PM - danzca6: Well...my plastic parts on my R1 are getting brittle. Had the tensioner for the filament on the extruder snap off in the middle of a print. Holding it in place with gorilla tape for now.
Sep 26, 2017 7:55 PM - danzca6: I hope this print finishes and I can get a new tensioner printed out

Sep 27, 2017 at 4:48 AM - danzca6: I know others have had issues with their printers and parts cracking...I hope this isn't a trend starting on mine.
    Sep 27, 2017 at 4:55 AM - jim3Dbot: Two outta four, Y supports cracked completely. Cyano A. repaired.....getting brittle too.....R1 with osteio
Sep 27, 2017 at 5:22 AM - danzca6: I have several printed spares, but this was not one of them. I better get a complete set so that I'm prepared
Sep 27, 2017 at 5:23 AM - danzca6: or maybe I should join the makerspace a few towns over. They have a Tormach CNC and I can learn to make all the parts out of aluminum :)
Sep 27, 2017 at 5:26 AM - Geof: now Danz...how many times has it been said...print ALL the parts ;) lol. Need me to send you one?
Sep 27, 2017 at 5:32 AM - danzca6: I've printed about a half dozen full Greg's Wade extruders for forum members...go figure the one part I don't have is that idler arm. I am going to try to print it tonight. I was too tired last night to give it a go
Sep 27, 2017 at 5:32 AM - danzca6: Thanks for the offer and I will definetly let you know if I need a lifeline
Sep 27, 2017 at 5:33 AM - danzca6: If I had that adoptabot finished it would come in handy right now...maybe it is just life's way of telling me I need a second printer
Sep 27, 2017 at 5:38 AM - Geof: no worries buddy. I think I have a few of the injection molded ones even lol
    Sep 27, 2017 at 5:49 AM - danzca6: hmmmm...that's tempting...thanks Geof
Sep 27, 2017 at 6:05 AM - Geof: no problem buddy
Sep 27, 2017 at 7:31 AM - daniel871: It helps to read an entire post, PrusaPrinters has a much better image of the EINSY Rambo than Tom Sanladerer shared yesterday.

Sep 27, 2017 at 7:33 AM - daniel871: I'm loving that the heated bed has dedicated screw-on points that are the same as what you'd see on the power supply. I bet that board could run just about any heated bed you cared to use.
    Sep 27, 2017 at 7:42 AM - danzca6: buying one Daniel?
Sep 27, 2017 at 7:46 AM - WheresWaldo: Without specs on the MOSFET that statement about the connectors makes no sense.
Sep 27, 2017 at 7:52 AM - daniel871: Those connection points are typically the points of failure on cheaper machines, Waldo.
Sep 27, 2017 at 7:53 AM - daniel871: It's usually not the on-board mosfet that fails, but the wiring/connection at that location on the board.
Sep 27, 2017 at 7:57 AM - daniel871: I might get one some time next year danzca. Right now I'm still sourcing machinery for other projects.
Sep 27, 2017 at 7:59 AM - daniel871: I've been watching the price drop on this listing for a bit and it's almost at the point that I'm interested in getting them even if the brake isn't exactly going to do what I want it to do. https://www.facebook.com/marketplace/item/132150474088905
Sep 27, 2017 at 7:59 AM - daniel871: The text in the listing was the original pricing, it's dropped to what's shown now.
Sep 27, 2017 at 8:12 AM - WheresWaldo: Dan, isn't Dalton the Carpet Capitol of the US?
    Sep 27, 2017 at 8:13 AM - daniel871: Not since 2012 at the latest.
Sep 27, 2017 at 8:14 AM - WheresWaldo: I used to travel to Dalton about twice a year, but that was like 10 years ago.
Sep 27, 2017 at 11:36 AM - daniel871: Welp, latest shipping update on the Monoprice Delta says it'll be delivered tomorrow. Already have a bunch of stuff ready to put on the SD card and print through the day while I'm at work if the initial setup and on-board test print go well thanks to the pre-configured S3D profile in the FB group, etc.
Sep 27, 2017 at 12:03 PM - danzca6: do they even have that one their site? Couldn't see it under 3d printers yet.
Sep 27, 2017 at 1:33 PM - daniel871: Supposed to put on the site in October I think. I preordered.
Sep 27, 2017 at 1:34 PM - daniel871: You can see ghost listings in related products, but not the actual page itself.

Sep 28, 2017 6:41 AM - danzca6: well my new extruder hinge came out great last night. Thanks to Mike Kelly, I was able to get a version with the tab.
    Sep 28, 2017 6:56 AM - Geof: :D love spares
Sep 28, 2017 7:07 AM - danzca6: yeah the extrusion is kinda crappy with it broke. So I may reprint once I get it dialed back in. I really need to just make my final adjustments to my Titan mount and go full time with that. The Greg's Wade seems so clunky now
Sep 28, 2017 7:10 AM - Geof: lol! I still rock it on my first +. Love it :D. Reliable
    Sep 28, 2017 9:10 AM - danzca6: Daniel... Bob made a sheet metal break https://t.co/IdzPPMKMIQ?amp=1
Sep 28, 2017 9:17 AM - danzca6: not sure if that would fit your needs though
Sep 28, 2017 9:27 AM - daniel871: I need one with removable sections so I can set it up to bend and form a complete box.
Sep 28, 2017 9:28 AM - daniel871: A simple brake isn't that hard to get/set up, it's getting one with a track and assorted "fingers" that can stand up to bending stainless steel sections while also keeping the individual "fingers" aligned so that you don't end up with a shitty bend.

    Sep 29, 2017 at 6:03 AM - danzca6: and a heat cartridge they haven't offered before I think
Sep 29, 2017 at 6:03 AM - danzca6: pretty much the combo they use in shop

Sep 29, 2017 at 6:09 AM - daniel871: $150 plust $10 shipping on the pre-order, not sure what final retail will be.
    Sep 29, 2017 at 6:09 AM - daniel871: Hang on, I'll look.
    Sep 29, 2017 at 6:09 AM - danzca6: that is crazy cheap
    Sep 29, 2017 at 6:12 AM - daniel871: Yep, $149.99 when it gets to the website/stores.
Sep 29, 2017 at 6:12 AM - daniel871: The only deal on the crowdfunding pre-order was getting it early.
Sep 29, 2017 at 6:13 AM - daniel871: My test print is printing at 0.08mm layers and I am unreasonably psyched at how well it's running.
    Sep 29, 2017 at 6:13 AM - danzca6: haha...I've always wanted a delta...I could afford that price
Sep 29, 2017 at 6:14 AM - daniel871: People on the FB group have been saying the only thing they don't like is how noisy it is and I think they're nuts. This thing is slightly quieter than my i3. What were they expecting?
    Sep 29, 2017 at 6:14 AM - danzca6: prusa mk3 quiet? whisper quiet? I like hearing printers...I don't know if I would like a fully silent one
    Sep 29, 2017 at 6:15 AM - daniel871: I don't think it's anywhere near MK3 quiet, but it's nowhere near as loud as the R1 was.
Sep 29, 2017 at 6:15 AM - daniel871: The cooling fan and the extruder motor are all I really hear on it, and a little bit of bearing/bushing whine as they slide over the bars.
    Sep 29, 2017 at 6:15 AM - daniel871: Less whine, more hiss.
    Sep 29, 2017 at 7:48 AM - Toro1966: Morning all
Sep 29, 2017 at 8:31 AM - sgomes: @Mods: Would it be OK to post a "for sale" post in the R2 forums, for my used R2? Wouldn't want to break any forum rules :)
Sep 29, 2017 at 8:45 AM - daniel871: In fake news, the restaurant names used in the rapid-fire resets in The Good Place so far were hilarious: [IMG]
    Sep 29, 2017 at 8:46 AM - daniel871: For example: [IMG]

    Sep 29, 2017 at 9:06 AM - danzca6: @sgomes I've seen others do for sale...should be fine
Sep 29, 2017 at 9:06 AM - danzca6: what are you asking for it?
Sep 29, 2017 at 9:31 AM - Geof: sgomes- there is nothing wrong with that. Just keep in mind most will offer you half retail if your lucky so state your price clearly. and take any personal information to DM
    Sep 29, 2017 at 9:41 AM - sgomes: Will do, thank you! I'm UK-based, so I don't expect it to work, but it's worth a shot :)
Sep 29, 2017 at 9:43 AM - Geof: There are a few UK members. Might be worth linking it in the UK section on introduction as well so new people see it in your general area
Sep 29, 2017 at 12:17 PM - daniel871: Welp, Adalinda clogged about about 65%. That sucked.
Sep 29, 2017 at 12:17 PM - daniel871: Cleaned the clog out, running that goofy waving cat model in PETG.
