Aug 24, 2017 9:01 PM - Curtis: I don't mind attempting to fix something on my R2, but I expect a good clean running piece of equipment. We buy a box printer so that we shouldn't have to "tinker" too much in order for it to work properly. I understand the whole "it's new and it has its kinks", and overall I haven't had an issue with support to help remedy my issues.

Aug 24, 2017 at 9:33 PM - Geof: Curtis, totally agree
Aug 25, 2017 at 12:55 AM - sgomes: For those of us outside the US, fixing things ourselves is probably the best bet. For example, I just installed a new Robo official hotend yesterday, after I accidentally broke the nozzle inside the original one as I tried to upgrade it to a hardened nozzle. Shipping and import duty were more expensive than the actual hotend, so I shudder at the thought of sending the whole thing back for repairs...
Aug 25, 2017 at 12:56 AM - sgomes: But for that, we need plentiful parts available, as well as a thorough set of guides that teaches how to repair every single part of the machine. These guides would also come in super handy to anyone planning upgrades.
Aug 25, 2017 at 1:14 AM - sgomes: Oh, and @Braydon: please don't forget us Kickstarter backers and early buyers as you come up with fixes for any hardware issues on the machines! :D Happy to print out any improvements, where possible (I believe fan shrouds are being looked at), but for things like new electronics (if it comes to that), we'd definitely need you to send us the fixed hardware with instructions on how to replace.
Aug 25, 2017 at 5:02 AM - Hanover: Of course it should work out of the box, but to expect never to have to do maintenance on your printer isn't realistic. I was surprised there wasn't already a guide on how to unclog the hot-end. The fact that it takes weeks just to get a thermistor is kind of alarming. :)
Aug 25, 2017 at 5:10 AM - Geof: agreed. Documentation has never been huge with Robo. Most docs have been user created here on the forum. The original R1 series was plagued with a parts shortage, as is the R2 and C2 is just coming into stock from the looks of it :D
Aug 25, 2017 at 5:10 AM - Geof: seems a trend of waiting for parts at the start of a new machine which isn't all that suprising from a OEM stand point.
Aug 25, 2017 at 5:11 AM - Geof: That said...a C2 thermistor... or R1+ thermistor should work in your R2. There are no voltages to those, just the heatercore that I am aware of :D
Aug 25, 2017 at 6:13 AM - WheresWaldo: As soon as I pull the hexagon out of the R2 I will look at the thermistor and measure the brass tube it is encased in.
Aug 25, 2017 at 6:14 AM - sgomes: Ah, shame, I could have done that for you yesterday, when I disassembled mine.
Aug 25, 2017 at 6:15 AM - sgomes: I wonder if Robo could get us some part numbers from their suppliers? That would remove the guesswork.
Aug 25, 2017 at 6:18 AM - Geof: I'm fairly confident its the same oddball thermistor. I sent someone with a C2 a spare thermistor I had back when and it was identical to theirs. Assuming R2 is the same?
Aug 25, 2017 at 6:18 AM - Geof: will be good to know for sure, thank you Waldo.
Aug 25, 2017 at 6:18 AM - Geof: I would imagine they wouldn't share that info :D but if its the same thermistor you can just parts request for a R1+ thermistor and be on your way :D
Aug 25, 2017 at 6:19 AM - sgomes: Interesting. I got an R1+ hotend (since they don't have R2 ones yet) and was told by support I should swap out both the heater element and the thermistor for the ones that came with the original hotend
Aug 25, 2017 at 6:20 AM - sgomes: ind you, that was level 1 support, though, so it could a "just to be safe" thing, I guess
    Aug 25, 2017 at 6:20 AM - sgomes: Mind*
Aug 25, 2017 at 6:21 AM - sgomes: could be*
    Aug 25, 2017 at 6:21 AM - sgomes: Can't type today.
Aug 25, 2017 at 6:22 AM - WheresWaldo: You don't know what you don't know, a lot of people forget that. I am sure Robo never asked about the specs of the Hexagon. I am sure they only have this version since it appears to be the latest with the thremistor encased in a tube.
Aug 25, 2017 at 6:23 AM - WheresWaldo: @sgomes, I just plugged the R2 power supply in last night and wondered, does yours scream really loudly?
Aug 25, 2017 at 6:32 AM - sgomes: It's probably the loudest power supply I've ever had, yes. I think it's louder than the printer.
Aug 25, 2017 at 6:32 AM - sgomes: Thankfully, it's a white noise type of sound, not a whine.
Aug 25, 2017 at 6:32 AM - Geof: @sgomes I'd be interested to know if you used the thermistor for the R1+ what it reads :D if it reads ok then we know its useable. If it acts up or a huge difference I'd be suprised.
Aug 25, 2017 at 6:34 AM - sgomes: @Geof: ah, sorry, I already have the whole thing assembled :-/ I'll be sure to let you know if I end up having to disassemble again. Hope not, but the nozzle I got is a bit weird, so we'll see how it does as time goes by.
    Aug 25, 2017 at 6:36 AM - sgomes: (One of these: https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/dddmaterial/3d-printer-tungsten-premium-nozzle-reloaded )
Aug 25, 2017 at 6:36 AM - Geof: no worries ! I'm betting the thermistor works just fine. E3D uses the same thermistor for 12 and 24V. Only change is the voltage for the heater.s
Aug 25, 2017 at 6:37 AM - Geof: I'd assume the same of all set ups :D
Aug 25, 2017 at 6:39 AM - sgomes: I wonder if the thermistor gets the same voltage as the heating element. I'd assume it gets 5V, right?
Aug 25, 2017 at 7:14 AM - WheresWaldo: I believe most of these thermistors has a max voltage near 200v but are current limited, so it doesn't really matter what voltage they want to pump through it.
Aug 25, 2017 at 7:18 AM - Geof: Thats my understanding as well. Voltage has no effect on them.
Aug 25, 2017 at 7:28 AM - Hanover: I looked up the cartridge thermistors that they use for the E3D V6 and those are definitely too big. According to my calipers, the hole in the stock hexagon is a slightly bigger than 2mm I asked one of the vendors at Ali how wide their thermistor with the copper sleeve was and they said it was 2mm on the front. So I decided to order one along with my spare black PEI sheet. Maybe it will work, can't hurt to see.
Aug 25, 2017 at 7:30 AM - Hanover: I picked up my replacement R2 today at the UPS depot, so maybe I'll get brave and try using the calipers on the thermistor it comes with. Not sure if I want to tempt fate. :)
Aug 25, 2017 at 7:30 AM - sgomes: @Hanover: I'd leave it for when you decide to replace your nozzle :)
Aug 25, 2017 at 7:30 AM - Hanover: I'm thinking the same thing. I have some jobs to do this weekend. :)
Aug 25, 2017 at 7:34 AM - Geof: as fragile as they are...if the machine works let her be lol
Aug 25, 2017 at 7:35 AM - Geof: @Hanover did you ensure its the same thermistor type ? Or are you going to modify your firmware?
Aug 25, 2017 at 7:40 AM - sgomes: Oh, damn. I just remembered I forgot to take a photo of the hotend fan when I disassembled it yesterday. Wanted to see if I could get a better fan to replace it.
    Aug 25, 2017 at 7:42 AM - Hanover: It's this thermistor...
Aug 25, 2017 at 7:45 AM - Hanover: I wish I would have taken a picture of the broken thermistor. I've already packed it away for return. But that looked like the closest match. It wasn't as durable as a cartridge...more just like something crimped onto the end of the wires.
Aug 25, 2017 at 7:50 AM - Geof: Thats a NTC thermistor. You'll need to do a firmware change to use it. Stock is a Epcos. E3D is a semitec
Aug 25, 2017 at 7:51 AM - Geof: I think lol not thinkin real good today so bear with me if I'm mistaken
Aug 25, 2017 at 7:51 AM - Hanover: Well, its more of a question of will it fit. Then we can make a list of potential replacements. :) Consider it taking a $6 hit for the team. :)
    Aug 25, 2017 at 7:52 AM - Geof: ;) atta boy! :D
Aug 25, 2017 at 7:52 AM - Geof: someone owes you two beers then eh?
Aug 25, 2017 at 7:53 AM - Geof: Or most a pack of smokes in my area :D lol
Aug 25, 2017 at 7:54 AM - Hanover: Also, I will be getting a thermistor from Robo that they sent AFTER I RMA'd my first Robo. They originally said they were out of stock, but I guess they found one in a locked filing cabinet stuck in a disused lavatory with a sign on the door saying ‘Beware of the Leopard
Aug 25, 2017 at 7:59 AM - sgomes: Mostly harmless for you to keep an extra one around, @Hanover
Aug 25, 2017 at 8:01 AM - Geof: I think I had 10 laying around for my + lol. I switched to a different hotend so now have 2 (for multiple machines) but their much more durable lol.
Aug 25, 2017 at 8:01 AM - Hanover: Glad someone got that :)
Aug 25, 2017 at 8:01 AM - Geof: Gave away all but one hexagon hexagon and 1 thermistor lol
Aug 25, 2017 at 8:12 AM - Hanover: Its funny, I never thought I'd be having such an animated conversation about such a mundane little part. I watched the interview that the 3D Printer Nerd had with Braydon and laughed a little when he said they were going to be stocking up on spare parts.
Aug 25, 2017 at 8:13 AM - sgomes: I'm sure they will. At some point :)
Aug 25, 2017 at 8:15 AM - Geof: no question, there will be spare parts available within the 6 months it takes to get a spare parts list built and stocked (been there done that lol)
    Aug 25, 2017 at 10:22 AM - Braydon ROBO 3D: Hey guys!
Aug 25, 2017 at 10:23 AM - Geof: Hey Braydon lol
Aug 25, 2017 at 10:27 AM - Braydon ROBO 3D: I noticed some talk about spare parts
Aug 25, 2017 at 10:27 AM - Braydon ROBO 3D: Let me know if you need anything
Aug 25, 2017 at 10:29 AM - Braydon ROBO 3D: and also, hey Geof
    Aug 25, 2017 at 10:29 AM - Braydon ROBO 3D: haha
Aug 25, 2017 at 10:30 AM - Geof: sounds like some people are having issues getting lead screws and thermistors for the R2. Cant recall exactly who all it was atm
Aug 25, 2017 at 10:30 AM - Geof: would you be able to send us info on the thermistor? its the same as the R1+ and the C2 yea?
Aug 25, 2017 at 10:30 AM - Braydon ROBO 3D: anyone, feel free to message me braydon@robo3d.com
Aug 25, 2017 at 10:31 AM - Braydon ROBO 3D: Ill do my best to figure it out
    Aug 25, 2017 at 11:40 AM - Hanover: Thanks!
Aug 25, 2017 at 11:55 AM - Curtis: I was need a thermistor wire awhile ago, but support shipped one out. Now I'm waiting for another pogo board. :-(
Aug 25, 2017 at 12:24 PM - Geof: if they havent shipped it yet shoot Braydon an email. I'm sure he can try to expedite.
Aug 25, 2017 at 12:32 PM - Curtis: Geof, it's shipped, but I think customs is slowly building printer with all the parts I'm getting sent. LOL
Aug 25, 2017 at 12:37 PM - Geof: LOL now that wouldn't suprise me in the least. I hate customs waiting :(
Aug 25, 2017 at 12:49 PM - Braydon ROBO 3D: Glad to hear they both shipped out
Aug 25, 2017 at 12:49 PM - Braydon ROBO 3D: yes customs is a pain
Aug 25, 2017 at 12:52 PM - Curtis: Need a Canadian reseller or distributor up here to the west (Alberta) Braydon ;-)
    Aug 25, 2017 at 12:54 PM - Geof: I think there is a Canadian reseller ?
Aug 25, 2017 at 1:11 PM - Braydon ROBO 3D: Yes there is
Aug 25, 2017 at 1:11 PM - Braydon ROBO 3D: let me get the information
Aug 25, 2017 at 1:12 PM - Braydon ROBO 3D: In terms of machines, we have resellers in Canada like NCIX
Aug 25, 2017 at 1:12 PM - Braydon ROBO 3D: but we are always looking!
Aug 25, 2017 at 1:12 PM - Braydon ROBO 3D: They are mainly in Toronto
Aug 25, 2017 at 1:13 PM - Braydon ROBO 3D: shoot a message to mark@robo3d.com. He is in charge of Canada and Mexico.
Aug 25, 2017 at 1:22 PM - Curtis: Geof and I found NCIX the other day, but I have to be honest.. never heard of em so I dont know of the quality. Items usually end up near Toronto.. the majority of the population lives there. But it would be nice to have something out to the prairies :) .
Aug 25, 2017 at 1:46 PM - WheresWaldo: Curtis, I have used NCIX for a number of things, they have been basically a computer component etailler for quite some time and although esentially serving Canada, they also have a presence in Bellevue, WA
Aug 25, 2017 at 3:30 PM - Curtis: Whats your experience with them? It seems that they have a few stores, but Ive never even heard of them before. Looks like they never made it to us.
Aug 25, 2017 at 5:40 PM - Hanover: Well, I got my replacement but the serial cable to the extruder is broken. >:-(
    Aug 25, 2017 at 6:01 PM - Hanover: [IMG]
Aug 25, 2017 at 6:20 PM - Geof: That succks hard man. Get robo on the horn asap ! Weak... can repair in the meantimd
    Aug 25, 2017 at 6:21 PM - Geof: Meantime ***
Aug 25, 2017 at 6:50 PM - Hanover: I have 30 days to figure out what to do. While I wouldn't mind repairing those wires, I'm not very good with a soldering iron (I'm a clutz). I think I'm just going to take the parts out of the new one, fix my old one and then return the new one. I don't want to be surprised by anything else that could be wrong with the replacement.

Aug 27, 2017 at 7:15 AM - Hanover: I just decided to take the two parts from the defective replacement (great band name) to fix my original one. My original is back in business and works fine now. Something else I didn't think about though is that the replacement came shipped with just the R2 box with a label slapped on the side.
Aug 27, 2017 at 7:15 AM - Hanover: My first one was a box within a box.
Aug 27, 2017 at 8:55 AM - daniel871: Send it back with a "really? Could you not ship a complete machine?" Note.
Aug 27, 2017 at 11:27 AM - Ed Ferguson: Send it back boxed exactly as you received it. Maybe they will learn.

Aug 28, 2017 5:06 AM - Geof: Good Morning all.
Aug 28, 2017 5:06 AM - Geof: Sorry to hear about your issues Hanover. Get Robo on the horn and send back for a replacement.
Aug 28, 2017 5:59 AM - Hanover: I completely forgot to mention that this came from Amazon and was shipped from SC. My first one was shipped from Seattle. So again, I already swapped two parts from the one with the broken wiring harness into my original one and will just send the replacement back with a little note explaining what I did. I really don't want to take a chance on another one when mine is working fine now.
Aug 28, 2017 6:37 AM - Toro1966: Hey guys - quick question regarding stringing. Prinitng PLA (Inland PLA at 188) and am getting very very light whispy stringing. It's so light that when it's done it looks almost like gauze. But it is annoying to pull off of intricate parts. My two questions are, how can I reduce it, and what's the easy way to get rid of it on prints? Can I use a heat gun to maybe make it shrivel up?
Aug 28, 2017 6:38 AM - Toro1966: I have tried retraction up to 3.0 mm. Haven't gone higher because I didn'r figure that would be beneficial. I also have lowered the temp and am only prinitng at 188.
Aug 28, 2017 7:01 AM - Geof: Yes to heat gun. Inland kinda sucks from my experience. Constant stringing.
Aug 28, 2017 7:02 AM - Geof: I ended up playing with coast and extra restart then didnt buy from them again lol
Aug 28, 2017 7:31 AM - Toro1966: ironically I have used Inland almost exclusivey for the last year with very little issues. The last few rolls, however, have not been great. Maybe a bad batch. Lol. Going to try the heat gun thing and hopefully I can get them to go away. if that works, I will be very happy because the prints are coming out very good, just covered in gauze - haha
Aug 28, 2017 7:39 AM - Geof: Yep I do heat gun then rub the areas and they seem to go away. Might be a little wet. Throw some of the other spools that are causing grief in a sealed bag with desicant for a few days
Aug 28, 2017 7:39 AM - Geof: or do the oven trick and see if the stringing goes away.
Aug 28, 2017 7:40 AM - Geof: I tend to stick with hatchbox and Chris has started me to be hooked on Xyperland filament from amazon (under 16/kg...last 2 spools were 11/kg)
Aug 28, 2017 7:40 AM - Geof: decent filament runs like normal PLA
Aug 28, 2017 7:44 AM - Toro1966: Thanks Geof. Going to try the Xperland. Have heard of the oven trick. Any thoughts as to temp and for how long? Also - do you put it in anything or just on a tray?
Aug 28, 2017 8:16 AM - Geof: I just have a cheapo countertop convection oven, I just toss it on the grates (the spool on that site gets a bit ugly)
    Aug 28, 2017 8:16 AM - Geof: http://community.robo3d.com/index.php?threads/drying-filament.13839/
Aug 28, 2017 8:16 AM - Geof: Here is Marks Post on it
    Aug 28, 2017 9:55 AM - Toro1966: Thanks!
    Aug 28, 2017 9:58 AM - Geof: YW buddy.

Aug 28, 2017 12:49 PM - sgomes: Does anyone know any 3D model of some sort of knob I can print and use to adjust the bed levelling on the R2? I got blisters on my fingers from tightening and loosening them a bunch of times until I got a perfectly manually levelled bed.
    Aug 28, 2017 12:49 PM - sgomes: bed levelling screws *
Aug 28, 2017 12:49 PM - Geof: sgomes...can you 3d model? If no send me the demensions of those knobs you want and I'll model it for you real quick.
Aug 28, 2017 12:50 PM - sgomes: I can, yup, was just wondering if anyone had done it already :)
Aug 28, 2017 12:51 PM - Geof: quick browse of thingiverse shows next to nothing for the R2. If you model it it would be cool to see it posted :D
Aug 28, 2017 12:52 PM - sgomes: Fair enough, I'll give it a try once my current print is done :) If it works, I'll share!
Aug 28, 2017 12:52 PM - Geof: very kind of you!
Aug 28, 2017 1:27 PM - OutsourcedGuru: I wonder if there's any way to buy four cello fine tuners and to incorporate them into a manual bed leveling system? http://www.tmart.com/4-4-Cello-Fine...MIwYnb9uD61QIVC1d-Ch2msQE3EAYYASABEgLXCvD_BwE
    Aug 28, 2017 1:27 PM - OutsourcedGuru: (You'd just remove the v-shaped part)

    Aug 28, 2017 1:45 PM - Braydon ROBO 3D: how are you?
Aug 28, 2017 1:45 PM - Braydon ROBO 3D: Just trying to catch up to the convos on here
Aug 28, 2017 1:46 PM - Braydon ROBO 3D: Can you explain what happened? You received a Robo R2 without the corrugate packaging?
Aug 28, 2017 1:46 PM - Braydon ROBO 3D: just in the retail box?
Aug 28, 2017 1:46 PM - Braydon ROBO 3D: also, I am here if anyone needs anything too
Aug 28, 2017 1:47 PM - Braydon ROBO 3D: you guys can ALWAYS message me braydon@robo3d.com
Aug 28, 2017 1:54 PM - OutsourcedGuru: @Braydon I'm local here in San Diego. Any chance that I could stop by at some point to purchase some parts for the C2? Would like a second extruder, another bed, another filament tube if you have it...
Aug 28, 2017 1:56 PM - OutsourcedGuru: @Brayden ...or push the spare parts to the local Fry's Electronics and I'd just buy them there.
    Aug 28, 2017 1:59 PM - Braydon ROBO 3D: yeah
Aug 28, 2017 1:59 PM - Braydon ROBO 3D: shoot me a list and I can pre assemble it for you
Aug 28, 2017 1:59 PM - Braydon ROBO 3D: and then you can come pick it up if youd like
Aug 28, 2017 2:00 PM - Braydon ROBO 3D: and say hi ofcourse!
Aug 28, 2017 2:00 PM - OutsourcedGuru: Will do. I'll email you the list. Thanks, Braydon.
Aug 28, 2017 2:12 PM - Hanover: Hi Braydon. Yeeah, They just slapped a label onto the R2 box and sent it.
Aug 28, 2017 2:43 PM - Hanover: No protective plastic on the front door. There was also considerably less cardboard inserts inside the printer. The wire harness to the extruder was cut and a JST plug was hanging out. The front door has a scratch on it too. So I just swapped the two parts I needed to fix my original one and I'm good to go. I was printing all weekend. I'll be sending the replacement back to Amazon.
Aug 28, 2017 4:15 PM - Braydon ROBO 3D: hanover did this printer come directly from us or Amazon?
Aug 28, 2017 4:15 PM - Braydon ROBO 3D: They should not be sending machines out without the cardboard box around it
Aug 28, 2017 4:15 PM - Braydon ROBO 3D: I will have to follow up with them if from Amazon
Aug 28, 2017 4:49 PM - Hanover: It was from Amazon. It was shipped from South Carolina.
Aug 28, 2017 4:50 PM - Braydon ROBO 3D: Was it through Amazon or a reseller?
Aug 28, 2017 4:50 PM - Braydon ROBO 3D: reseller on the listing I mean
Aug 28, 2017 4:52 PM - Hanover: It was supposed to be a replacement, so it was from Amazon.
Aug 28, 2017 4:53 PM - Hanover: There are also Team Lift stickers on the side.
Aug 28, 2017 4:53 PM - Braydon ROBO 3D: I will have to look into this Hanover. These should never go out without a outer box
    Aug 28, 2017 4:54 PM - Hanover: I'll snap a picture as soon as I can.
    Aug 28, 2017 5:05 PM - Braydon ROBO 3D: thanks
Aug 28, 2017 8:28 PM - Dick Travis: Where can I get a plugin for Cura to print 2 colors?

Aug 29, 2017 at 5:14 AM - Geof: Cura does that natively? What are you trying to do exactly? Or more so how are you trying to do? 2 colors 2 hotends? 2 colors one nozzle with splitter? one color then a color change at a specific layer height?
    Aug 29, 2017 at 10:25 AM - Braydon ROBO 3D: hey coes
    Aug 29, 2017 at 10:25 AM - Braydon ROBO 3D: guys*
    Aug 29, 2017 at 10:26 AM - Braydon ROBO 3D: have a question

Aug 29, 2017 at 10:30 AM - Geof: Whats up?
Aug 29, 2017 at 10:31 AM - WheresWaldo: Seems like we are all here.
    Aug 29, 2017 at 10:31 AM - Geof: Hi guys :D lol
Aug 29, 2017 at 10:39 AM - Geof: o_O     :p  we need more emojis
    Aug 29, 2017 at 10:39 AM - danzca6: Who's he calling a coe?
Aug 29, 2017 at 10:40 AM - Geof: That one was specifically directed at you danz ;)
    Aug 29, 2017 at 10:40 AM - danzca6: I knew it....I'm outta here.... :p
Aug 29, 2017 at 10:41 AM - WheresWaldo: Well mark the screen from amazon got here this morning, it is still at the front door since I am having to tear apart my new PC and RMA the motherboard.
Aug 29, 2017 at 10:42 AM - Geof: lol danz!
Aug 29, 2017 at 10:42 AM - Geof: Waldo, bad news on the PC. Sorry to hear.
Aug 29, 2017 at 10:43 AM - WheresWaldo: Woke up this morning and powered it on and it immediately powered off. It is a known issue with some of the Gigabyte AM4 boards.
Aug 29, 2017 at 10:43 AM - WheresWaldo: Right now I have the CMOS battery pulled, the power supply unplugged trying to make sure CMOS is fully drained. Sometimes that will revive the board.
    Aug 29, 2017 at 10:44 AM - Geof: Heres to hoping !
Aug 29, 2017 at 10:44 AM - Braydon ROBO 3D: We are working on an ambassador program
    Aug 29, 2017 at 10:44 AM - WheresWaldo: Interesting.
Aug 29, 2017 at 10:44 AM - Braydon ROBO 3D: and Im looking to see if you all can think of any cool names for the program
Aug 29, 2017 at 10:44 AM - Braydon ROBO 3D: there will be a number of cool incentives for people in the program
Aug 29, 2017 at 10:45 AM - Braydon ROBO 3D: we were thinking of something like "Robo Elite"
    Aug 29, 2017 at 10:45 AM - Braydon ROBO 3D: pretty simple
Aug 29, 2017 at 10:45 AM - WheresWaldo: What exactly is the message you are trying to convey with the Ambassadors?
Aug 29, 2017 at 10:46 AM - Braydon ROBO 3D: the message is that we appreciate all that they are dong to help advocate the company, the industry, and we want to make them a part of something more
    Aug 29, 2017 at 10:47 AM - Braydon ROBO 3D: doing*
Aug 29, 2017 at 10:47 AM - Braydon ROBO 3D: does that make sense?
Aug 29, 2017 at 10:47 AM - Geof: A bit. Would be interested in more details to the whos and whats and the sort.
Aug 29, 2017 at 10:47 AM - WheresWaldo: Who is the target audience, because that sounds more like a loyalty rewards program than an Ambassador program.
Aug 29, 2017 at 10:48 AM - Braydon ROBO 3D: no its not a loyalty program
Aug 29, 2017 at 10:48 AM - Braydon ROBO 3D: we will choose a select group of people
Aug 29, 2017 at 10:48 AM - Braydon ROBO 3D: its people who can beta test stuff for us
Aug 29, 2017 at 10:48 AM - Braydon ROBO 3D: they will definitely get incentives like lifetime discounts and sucgh
    Aug 29, 2017 at 10:49 AM - Braydon ROBO 3D: such*
Aug 29, 2017 at 10:49 AM - Braydon ROBO 3D: its more of an honorary program
    Aug 29, 2017 at 10:49 AM - Braydon ROBO 3D: than a loyalty program
Aug 29, 2017 at 10:49 AM - Geof: interesting for sure.
    Aug 29, 2017 at 10:50 AM - Geof: Beta Squad :D
Aug 29, 2017 at 10:50 AM - Braydon ROBO 3D: I like it. But I want to do more than just beta :)
Aug 29, 2017 at 10:50 AM - Braydon ROBO 3D: I eventually want to host events with this group too
    Aug 29, 2017 at 10:50 AM - Geof: Alpha....Squad ;)
Aug 29, 2017 at 10:50 AM - Braydon ROBO 3D: invite them to shows
Aug 29, 2017 at 10:50 AM - WheresWaldo: I think I understand where you are going with this, more of a first look than an Ambassador, but Geof I would stay away from the word Beta, even if that is what it might be.
Aug 29, 2017 at 10:50 AM - Braydon ROBO 3D: I want to get more involved with the soul of our users if that makes sense
Aug 29, 2017 at 10:51 AM - WheresWaldo: Focus group kind of stuff
Aug 29, 2017 at 10:51 AM - Braydon ROBO 3D: I know thats philosophical sounding
    Aug 29, 2017 at 10:51 AM - Braydon ROBO 3D: haha
    Aug 29, 2017 at 10:51 AM - Braydon ROBO 3D: but yes
Aug 29, 2017 at 10:51 AM - Braydon ROBO 3D: I want a brutally honest group of advocates
Aug 29, 2017 at 10:52 AM - WheresWaldo: So a small cross-section of Robo users with various experience levels that can provide unfiltered feedback either good or bad about the current and upcoming products?
Aug 29, 2017 at 10:53 AM - Geof: I dig that for sure. Testers/feedback would be amazing to see
    Aug 29, 2017 at 10:53 AM - Braydon ROBO 3D: Yup!
Aug 29, 2017 at 10:53 AM - Braydon ROBO 3D: that is exactly it
Aug 29, 2017 at 10:54 AM - Braydon ROBO 3D: and being a part of this group will mean first access to anything and everything new
Aug 29, 2017 at 10:55 AM - WheresWaldo: Hmm. I typed a response but I am going to hold it to myself
Aug 29, 2017 at 10:55 AM - Geof: perhaps take this to a Pm to discuss a bit more so we dont feel the need to hold it to ourselves?
Aug 29, 2017 at 10:56 AM - Geof: Braydon have you got time for that ?
Aug 29, 2017 at 10:56 AM - WheresWaldo: Sounds like a good idea if you can pull if off.
    Aug 29, 2017 at 10:56 AM - danzca6: The Knights of the Robo Table...or the 3 Roboneers...maybe I'm just thinking movie titles
Aug 29, 2017 at 10:57 AM - Geof: LOl danz is back!
    Aug 29, 2017 at 10:57 AM - danzca6: hahaha
Aug 29, 2017 at 10:59 AM - Braydon ROBO 3D: I actually really like the Roboneers
Aug 29, 2017 at 10:59 AM - WheresWaldo: Geof, the reason I held my comment was to give Braydon the benefit of the doubt, after spending 5 years in marketing for a F500 company dealing directly with other F500 companies I have seen how protective product managers become of their babies when faces with honesty.
    Aug 29, 2017 at 10:59 AM - Braydon ROBO 3D: haha
Aug 29, 2017 at 11:00 AM - Geof: Ah gotya. Apologies Waldo.
Aug 29, 2017 at 11:00 AM - Braydon ROBO 3D: I assure you I am wanting to be faced with honesty
Aug 29, 2017 at 11:00 AM - Braydon ROBO 3D: its the only way to make things better
Aug 29, 2017 at 11:01 AM - Geof: I think we would all agree with that. No reason to sugar coat anything :D
Aug 29, 2017 at 11:01 AM - WheresWaldo: @Toro1966 used to greet everyone in Shoutbox with hey Roboneers.
Aug 29, 2017 at 11:01 AM - Braydon ROBO 3D: Exactly. I take all feedback and I look at where we can make improvements and then we put it to use
Aug 29, 2017 at 11:01 AM - danzca6: I like the idea of a group that can get product before it is released and put it through its paces and providing feedback.
Aug 29, 2017 at 11:02 AM - Geof: He did! I think Jessthemess is robonauts lol
    Aug 29, 2017 at 11:02 AM - danzca6: JeffTheMess you mean?
    Aug 29, 2017 at 11:02 AM - danzca6: I agree Jeff started that
Aug 29, 2017 at 11:02 AM - Geof: Agreed. Good to have people pushing to equipment from a user standpoint to the extreemes to find any possible flaws that could be fixed early on.
Aug 29, 2017 at 11:03 AM - Geof: YEA! lol Now that I've called him a girl he will pop in again haha
Aug 29, 2017 at 11:06 AM - WheresWaldo: That woould have to be a stipulation, you have to actually use the product. I did some of that for Cooler Master but they didn't really want critical feedback on some of their stuff.
Aug 29, 2017 at 11:07 AM - Geof: Agreed. minimum amount of hours logged prior to giving an opinion would be good.
Aug 29, 2017 at 11:07 AM - danzca6: I mean that is part of an open source model is to empower the community to have input into how a product evolves. Find shortcomings/opportunities
Aug 29, 2017 at 11:08 AM - WheresWaldo: You also want to avoid people who can't get past issues. There are a few that come to mind that are simply unwilling to see anything good as soon as a single bad experience taints their viewpoint.
    Aug 29, 2017 at 11:08 AM - danzca6: agreed
Aug 29, 2017 at 11:09 AM - WheresWaldo: But no one with rose colored glasses need apply, otherwise it just becomes an extension of Marketing. There is actually a place for those people too.
Aug 29, 2017 at 11:11 AM - WheresWaldo: I am assuming that the feedback simply can't be "this is broken" without providing workable solutions or being able to articulate why it is broken.
    Aug 29, 2017 at 11:11 AM - danzca6: somewhere inbetween right
Aug 29, 2017 at 11:11 AM - OutsourcedGuru: @Braydon ROBO 3D How about, Project Guinea Pig? ha
Aug 29, 2017 at 11:12 AM - OutsourcedGuru: Honestly, though, the Robo R2 probably should have been vetted by veteran 3D geeks like the guys who hang out here. They could have suggested early on that some of the features don't work.
Aug 29, 2017 at 11:13 AM - OutsourcedGuru: A few quick modifications and the R2 could have been more solid as shipped.
    Aug 29, 2017 at 11:13 AM - Braydon ROBO 3D: Agreed whereswaldo
Aug 29, 2017 at 11:13 AM - WheresWaldo: Braydon I think there will need to be more sharing on your side of the island. It would help anyone involved in such a project to be able to ask why certain decisions are made. People will need to show at least some of why it is the way it is, not the coders answer of because its cool :D
Aug 29, 2017 at 11:14 AM - Braydon ROBO 3D: and thanks guys. To be honest, we were heavily involved in the open source community before we started the company
Aug 29, 2017 at 11:14 AM - Braydon ROBO 3D: and I want to get back connected to that
Aug 29, 2017 at 11:14 AM - danzca6: would this group need to sign an NDA
Aug 29, 2017 at 11:14 AM - OutsourcedGuru: Was it @Geof who suggested that Robo's code hasn't been sent for pull requests against either OctoPrint/OctoPi?
    Aug 29, 2017 at 11:14 AM - Braydon ROBO 3D: Haven't determined that yet
Aug 29, 2017 at 11:14 AM - WheresWaldo: Dan that is usually standard practice
    Aug 29, 2017 at 11:15 AM - danzca6: I figured
    Aug 29, 2017 at 11:15 AM - Braydon ROBO 3D: I don't believe so
Aug 29, 2017 at 11:15 AM - OutsourcedGuru: There's some good code here under-the-hood, it just needs to make it back out "into the wild"
    Aug 29, 2017 at 11:15 AM - Braydon ROBO 3D: we'll see Dan

Aug 29, 2017 at 11:15 AM - Geof: Wouldn't be me. I'm not knowledgeable enough about octopi or octoprint to have those statements :D
Aug 29, 2017 at 11:15 AM - Braydon ROBO 3D: cross the bridge if there is a secret project we don't want anyone knowing about yet that hasnt been released or talked about
Aug 29, 2017 at 11:15 AM - WheresWaldo: It was me
Aug 29, 2017 at 11:16 AM - OutsourcedGuru: Yep, yep.
Aug 29, 2017 at 11:16 AM - Braydon ROBO 3D: waldo, which things do you need shared?
Aug 29, 2017 at 11:16 AM - Geof: Dan most Beta things I've tested have been assumed NDA until given the go ahead from the oem to post about.
Aug 29, 2017 at 11:18 AM - WheresWaldo: Depends on the product, as an example on the R1 the leveling switches I thought was ingenious, but the implem, entation was not so much, would have been nice to know how that solution was arrived at.
Aug 29, 2017 at 11:19 AM - WheresWaldo: In RoboOS Alan did a lot of work on the Voxel8 code to improve that interface with Octoprint, yest none of that appears to have been suggested or pushed up to the source from which it was forked.
Aug 29, 2017 at 11:20 AM - WheresWaldo: See depends on what aspect you are looking at.
    Aug 29, 2017 at 11:20 AM - Braydon ROBO 3D: I see I see
Aug 29, 2017 at 11:21 AM - OutsourcedGuru: I showed a bug to Gina Häußge of github/octoprint/foosel and she didn't recognize the code. Neither did Guy from OctoPi, for what it's worth.
Aug 29, 2017 at 11:22 AM - WheresWaldo: Look at the ton of work your guys have done with KIVY, I don't recall seeing a bigger project than the touchscreen interface. but there are things that are broken and there doesn't seem to be any way of communicating that if you are not Victor and Alan or any of the engineers at Robo.
Aug 29, 2017 at 11:24 AM - WheresWaldo: That is what I mean by sharing. It has to be two way, not just a group giving feedback and Robo nodding their heads.
Aug 29, 2017 at 11:25 AM - OutsourcedGuru: Given that so MANY of the Robos are arriving with broken/inoperative LCD screens, a lot of the guys are trying to source these... only to find the lack of documentation a little tough.
Aug 29, 2017 at 11:26 AM - WheresWaldo: Guru, the 5" is a Waveshare HDMi, pretty standard stuff and easily available. I have a spare one sitting on my front porch waiting for me to retrieve it.
Aug 29, 2017 at 11:26 AM - OutsourcedGuru: I know, but there's a lot of hoodoo/mystery going on with Robo's code and it would be good to shed some light on all of this.
Aug 29, 2017 at 11:27 AM - WheresWaldo: That is one of the better things about Robo's printer, enough to differentiate but still enough common parts to make them repairable/upgrade-able,
    Aug 29, 2017 at 11:27 AM - OutsourcedGuru: Like... github.com/Robo3d/c2, github.com/Robo3d/r2, etc
Aug 29, 2017 at 11:27 AM - OutsourcedGuru: It could be a private repository
Aug 29, 2017 at 11:28 AM - WheresWaldo: This is getting off topic
    Aug 29, 2017 at 11:28 AM - Braydon ROBO 3D: I got you
Aug 29, 2017 at 11:28 AM - Braydon ROBO 3D: I will go talk to the team
Aug 29, 2017 at 11:29 AM - Braydon ROBO 3D: See what I can do here
Aug 29, 2017 at 11:29 AM - OutsourcedGuru: Hey, Braydon, these guys on the forum are awesome.
    Aug 29, 2017 at 11:30 AM - WheresWaldo: Since you asked, I could use a replacement 5" touchscreen and a pogo-pin board.
    Aug 29, 2017 at 11:30 AM - danzca6: Bahahaha
    Aug 29, 2017 at 11:30 AM - danzca6: sorry...that was just funny to me
Aug 29, 2017 at 11:31 AM - OutsourcedGuru: If you're looking for a successful web-presence marketing model, adafruit.com is really amazing. Love the videos/tutorials.
Aug 29, 2017 at 11:31 AM - WheresWaldo: I think a focus group is a great idea, I think you need to figure out how the selection process will happen, what the goals of the group are, and how you plan on interacting and responding to the feedback.
Aug 29, 2017 at 11:32 AM - WheresWaldo: There is likely no way to plan for everything and plans can change, but no plan is a failure happening, you just won't know it. So if you can ferret out more details that would be where I would start.
Aug 29, 2017 at 11:33 AM - Braydon ROBO 3D: I know. They really are.
Aug 29, 2017 at 11:34 AM - OutsourcedGuru: Hey, Waldo, how much did you spend last year in parts?
Aug 29, 2017 at 11:34 AM - Braydon ROBO 3D: what happened to the touch screen?
Aug 29, 2017 at 11:34 AM - OutsourcedGuru: on all your printers
Aug 29, 2017 at 11:34 AM - Braydon ROBO 3D: has support not gotten you a pogo pin board or anything?
Aug 29, 2017 at 11:35 AM - WheresWaldo: Braydon, I haven't called support yet. Guru about $ 250 in parts and upgrades, between two printers not counting consumables.
Aug 29, 2017 at 11:36 AM - OutsourcedGuru: My point is that there's a lot of money in the parts business. Just sayin'.
Aug 29, 2017 at 11:36 AM - WheresWaldo: Touch screen is non-reponsive, replaced everything but it in tyhe R2
Aug 29, 2017 at 11:37 AM - Braydon ROBO 3D: waldo, did you get a screen flash from support?
Aug 29, 2017 at 11:37 AM - WheresWaldo: typing to fast non-responsive, displays but does not register touches.
Aug 29, 2017 at 11:37 AM - WheresWaldo: No, will call them to see what is involved
Aug 29, 2017 at 11:40 AM - WheresWaldo: @Guru was the same the year before with the R1, upgraded bed, heater, hotend, bearings, leadscrews, all told about $300 there. Some necessary, some just to make it better.
Aug 29, 2017 at 11:40 AM - OutsourcedGuru: My Robo C2 was $700 at Fry's and I've already spent another $1,000 easily on fun stuff (add-ons)
Aug 29, 2017 at 11:41 AM - WheresWaldo: DLP LCD printer had about $80 of upgrades before the first print.
    Aug 29, 2017 at 11:42 AM - Geof: 1000? Seems high.
    Aug 29, 2017 at 11:42 AM - OutsourcedGuru: I'm a geek.
Aug 29, 2017 at 11:42 AM - WheresWaldo: R2 printed Benchy right out of the box, and it was the best Benchy I ever got out of a Robo printer. Although I rarely print Benchy's.
Aug 29, 2017 at 11:42 AM - Geof: :D need a box of benchys to compare to waldo lol
Aug 29, 2017 at 11:43 AM - WheresWaldo: I have a box of Deprime's is that close enough.
Aug 29, 2017 at 11:43 AM - OutsourcedGuru: I'll print Benchy when I get a second extruder running.
    Aug 29, 2017 at 11:43 AM - Geof: I think yearly I might spend 1000/printer on R+M. Upgrades I budget around 300/machine/year. 1000 seems out of hand ;) lol
Aug 29, 2017 at 11:43 AM - OutsourcedGuru: <- totally out of hand
    Aug 29, 2017 at 11:43 AM - Geof: lol I didn't say it :D
Aug 29, 2017 at 11:44 AM - Geof: I assume there will be a mods thread with these Guru? with some step files and instructions so other users can benefit too?
    Aug 29, 2017 at 11:44 AM - Geof: :D
Aug 29, 2017 at 11:45 AM - OutsourcedGuru: The point I'm trying to make for Brayden is that—as a former Radio Shack store manager—for every $10 adapter you came into the store to buy, I've sold them another $50 in parts of some kind or another.
Aug 29, 2017 at 11:45 AM - OutsourcedGuru: @Geof of course, I just have to get past the point where Mark had to take a break.
Aug 29, 2017 at 11:46 AM - Geof: Gotya. Get it started whenever and showcase the process
Aug 29, 2017 at 11:46 AM - Geof: Alot can be learned from watching someones revisions :D
Aug 29, 2017 at 11:46 AM - OutsourcedGuru: Brayden's pulling me those parts and I'll pick them up, will-call
Aug 29, 2017 at 11:46 AM - OutsourcedGuru: And... I'll fix the LCD bug
Aug 29, 2017 at 11:47 AM - OutsourcedGuru: :cough: bugs
Aug 29, 2017 at 11:48 AM - OutsourcedGuru: Actually, I'm working on the Alexa/J.A.R.V.I.S mod this week.
Aug 29, 2017 at 11:56 AM - sgomes: Wow, step away for an hour and the chat explodes. Interesting stuff :)
Aug 29, 2017 at 11:57 AM - sgomes: If it involves hardware, you may need to restrict the program geographically, @Braydon. Import duties can be extortionate.
Aug 29, 2017 at 11:59 AM - OutsourcedGuru: Actually, I think the whole ship-direct-to-customer-using-UPS/FedEx model probably could use a review back at Robo corporate. Shipping by the pallet-ful to retail stores doesn't involve so much thrashing of the delicate parts.
Aug 29, 2017 at 12:35 PM - Geof: That would entail zero amazon sales and no direct sales (only pick ups) otherwise you still have UPS and Fed Ex delivering. Not sure what that idea would accomplish.
Aug 29, 2017 at 1:58 PM - OutsourcedGuru: I did logistics/shipping/receiving for that plastic manufacturer about three years ago and I know that those carriers really baby the pallets. The average cost-per-pallet to ship almost anywhere for me was about $75 each. 36 Robo C2s per skid that's around $2 each to ship to some warehouse locally.
Aug 29, 2017 at 1:59 PM - OutsourcedGuru: And they'd arrive in good condition at some local warehouse around the country. The trick would be to find out if that's Wal-Mart, The Home Depot or whoever already has an established system.
Aug 29, 2017 at 1:59 PM - OutsourcedGuru: And then you (as Robo 3D) might contract with them to do fulfillment from their stock.
Aug 29, 2017 at 2:41 PM - Dick Travis: Geof: We are trying to one color then a color change at a specific layer height? I understand there maybe some code to put into the Gcode? Thanks..
Aug 29, 2017 at 2:59 PM - Geof: Dick google ptusa color print. You tell it what measurement upload your .stil and it outputs one with the gcode in place
    Aug 29, 2017 at 3:00 PM - Geof: http://www.prusaprinters.org/color-print/
    Aug 29, 2017 at 3:11 PM - Braydon ROBO 3D:
Aug 29, 2017 at 3:11 PM - Braydon ROBO 3D: wanted to share a cool little video with you all for some color printing
Aug 29, 2017 at 3:12 PM - Braydon ROBO 3D: going out soon
    Aug 29, 2017 at 3:17 PM - mark tomlinson: :)
    Aug 29, 2017 at 3:22 PM - danzca6: Nice!
    Aug 29, 2017 at 3:22 PM - danzca6: Of course...it's not cheap
Aug 29, 2017 at 3:25 PM - Geof: Not at all. 800.00 last i saw
    Aug 29, 2017 at 3:33 PM - Braydon ROBO 3D: yeah its 800
Aug 29, 2017 at 3:33 PM - Braydon ROBO 3D: but its an amazing device
Aug 29, 2017 at 3:33 PM - Braydon ROBO 3D: works really well
Aug 29, 2017 at 3:34 PM - Braydon ROBO 3D: ive used both and they have made great improvements on this new one
Aug 29, 2017 at 4:51 PM - Hanover: Very cool

Aug 30, 2017 at 6:44 AM - Geof: Hey Daniel 871. How you feeling
Aug 30, 2017 at 6:46 AM - daniel871: Like hell, honestly. My insides feel like shards of glass and its hard to get any real rest.
Aug 30, 2017 at 6:47 AM - daniel871: Its getting better but very, very slowly.
Aug 30, 2017 at 6:53 AM - Geof: sorry to hear man. Hope you mend up fast.
    Aug 30, 2017 at 6:57 AM - daniel871: http://shittygifts.com/3d-printers-the-ultimate-rage-machine/
    Aug 30, 2017 at 6:57 AM - daniel871: Sensiblechuckle.gif here
Aug 30, 2017 at 6:58 AM - Hanover: Thats how I felt when I started with a DIY Anet A8.
Aug 30, 2017 at 7:01 AM - danzca6: Hey daniel...anything you need? Is there something I can send to help? Recovery is rough road. I hope it is a quick one for you buddy.
Aug 30, 2017 at 7:01 AM - Hanover: DIY Eternal Hell is right. :)
Aug 30, 2017 at 7:01 AM - daniel871: Its how I felt with the R1. It got better with the machines I have now, except for being at the point that they are idle because I haven't needed to print anything in over a month.
Aug 30, 2017 at 7:02 AM - daniel871: Nah, I just have to suck it up and endure it until I heal.
Aug 30, 2017 at 7:03 AM - danzca6: well I hope you have enough to entertain yourself with. Being layed up can make you stir crazy.
Aug 30, 2017 at 7:04 AM - daniel871: Kindle and phone with wifi internet have that covered.
Aug 30, 2017 at 7:45 AM - KRGraphicsCG: Morning guys
    Aug 30, 2017 at 7:46 AM - Geof: morning
Aug 30, 2017 at 7:46 AM - KRGraphicsCG: Finally can get this print done
    Aug 30, 2017 at 7:47 AM - Geof: t8000?
Aug 30, 2017 at 7:47 AM - KRGraphicsCG: Nah, a large plaque for my friend
Aug 30, 2017 at 7:47 AM - KRGraphicsCG: And smaller nozzles for the C2
    Aug 30, 2017 at 7:47 AM - KRGraphicsCG: like a .2mm hotend
    Aug 30, 2017 at 7:48 AM - Geof: didn't go for the .15? Its a ton of fun :D
Aug 30, 2017 at 7:48 AM - KRGraphicsCG: They have that?
    Aug 30, 2017 at 7:48 AM - Geof: e3d nozzles.
Aug 30, 2017 at 7:48 AM - Geof: I've got a few I play with from time to time.
Aug 30, 2017 at 7:48 AM - Geof: hilariously slow but awesome detail
Aug 30, 2017 at 7:49 AM - KRGraphicsCG: I need to find some especially for character prints
    Aug 30, 2017 at 7:49 AM - Geof: https://printedsolid.com/collection...e3d-v6-replacement-nozzle?variant=31846797132
Aug 30, 2017 at 7:50 AM - KRGraphicsCG: And all I have to do is put it on the machine
Aug 30, 2017 at 7:51 AM - KRGraphicsCG: and change the nozzle size in cura
Aug 30, 2017 at 7:51 AM - Geof: yup fits standard hexagon hotend. you'll need to adjust your slicer to show .15 nozzle and extrusion width and likely slow your machine down to 30mm/s or less.
    Aug 30, 2017 at 7:52 AM - KRGraphicsCG: I don't mind the slow speed :)
    Aug 30, 2017 at 7:52 AM - KRGraphicsCG: I'll probably buy the .15 and .2
Aug 30, 2017 at 7:52 AM - Geof: I use to say that too :D lol. 15mm high mini fig took over 2 hours if I recall correctly :D
    Aug 30, 2017 at 7:53 AM - Geof: .25?
Aug 30, 2017 at 7:53 AM - KRGraphicsCG: yes, sorry, just waking up
Aug 30, 2017 at 7:53 AM - KRGraphicsCG: this would be useful for the print i am doing now
Aug 30, 2017 at 7:53 AM - Geof: no worries lol
Aug 30, 2017 at 7:54 AM - KRGraphicsCG: I am doing engraved text, and I am printing it bigger than I wanted
Aug 30, 2017 at 7:55 AM - KRGraphicsCG: it's 12 inches in Zbrush, and I am cutting it down to 8
    Aug 30, 2017 at 7:55 AM - Geof: inches?
    Aug 30, 2017 at 7:56 AM - KRGraphicsCG: yes
Aug 30, 2017 at 7:56 AM - KRGraphicsCG: I modeled it real world first before shrinking it
Aug 30, 2017 at 7:56 AM - Geof: dont need a small nozzle for that lol!
    Aug 30, 2017 at 7:56 AM - KRGraphicsCG: it's for a diorama
    Aug 30, 2017 at 7:56 AM - KRGraphicsCG: I know
Aug 30, 2017 at 7:57 AM - KRGraphicsCG: And the brim is not sticking to the plate so I am using rafts :/
Aug 30, 2017 at 7:57 AM - KRGraphicsCG: Gonna try this print without a raft... shouldn't need it, the back is completely flat
Aug 30, 2017 at 7:59 AM - KRGraphicsCG: And having to print at .05mm is painful lol
Aug 30, 2017 at 8:00 AM - KRGraphicsCG: and I was going to test out using an ethernet cable too
    Aug 30, 2017 at 8:58 AM - KRGraphicsCG: I might end up getting Simplify3D
    Aug 30, 2017 at 9:05 AM - Hanover: S3D is nice :)
Aug 30, 2017 at 9:06 AM - Hanover: Its nice to be able to preview prints before you print them. Saved me from a few failures.
Aug 30, 2017 at 9:06 AM - KRGraphicsCG: And I hope it will detect the C2 automatically
Aug 30, 2017 at 9:06 AM - KRGraphicsCG: or I'll just dial it in
Aug 30, 2017 at 9:06 AM - KRGraphicsCG: I would LOVE that right now for this plaque
Aug 30, 2017 at 9:22 AM - OutsourcedGuru: @Geof If KR replaces his stock Robo nozzle with one of the E3D versions, would he have to adjust his z-offset? PrintedSolid (I think) suggested that the height was different.
Aug 30, 2017 at 9:25 AM - KRGraphicsCG: And with S3D, I like that I can use processes
Aug 30, 2017 at 9:26 AM - KRGraphicsCG: like for straight parts, I can go lower detail
    Aug 30, 2017 at 9:28 AM - KRGraphicsCG: I really don't want to spend 150 right now
Aug 30, 2017 at 9:35 AM - KRGraphicsCG: Definitely getting these smaller nozzles for my next print, especially if I has engraved text on it
Aug 30, 2017 at 10:42 AM - danzca6: @OutsourcedGuru, yes the E3D nozzle does add height vs the stock nozzle.
Aug 30, 2017 at 10:43 AM - Geof: Couldn't tell ya. I dont have a C2 or R2. I can only speak to the mechanical fit. Operating the machine is on the operator ;)
Aug 30, 2017 at 10:52 AM - danzca6: yeah and the C2/R2 with the IR height sensor needs the distance from the IR to nozzle tip to be within trigger range. I don't know if there is adjustment to the IR mount in case it is outside that distance.
Aug 30, 2017 at 10:53 AM - Gaurhoth: I take it someone tried to work on the help desk email system today... heh. Got a notice about a ticket I opened over a year ago "received and being reviewed by our support staff"
    Aug 30, 2017 at 10:54 AM - danzca6: nice...well...better late than never? haha
Aug 30, 2017 at 10:54 AM - Gaurhoth: It was handled a year ago.... shrug
    Aug 30, 2017 at 10:54 AM - danzca6: oh good
Aug 30, 2017 at 10:55 AM - danzca6: otherwise that would be very sad
Aug 30, 2017 at 10:56 AM - Gaurhoth: I just came to see if I was the only one or if they did a mass email bomb of old cases :D
Aug 30, 2017 at 10:56 AM - Gaurhoth: I haven't actually used my R1+ in awhile. Too many projects, too little desk/shelf/floor space. heh
Aug 30, 2017 at 10:57 AM - danzca6: I didn't get an email, but my last one was over a year ago
Aug 30, 2017 at 10:57 AM - Geof: Same here. multiple emails.
Aug 30, 2017 at 10:57 AM - Gaurhoth: heh, lesson learned. Always block/turn off your SMTP relay before upgrading/reinstalling/restoring from backup any helpdesk/email integrated system :D
Aug 30, 2017 at 10:58 AM - Gaurhoth: (done that before so I learned that lesson a long long long time ago)
Aug 30, 2017 at 10:58 AM - MOwens5150: Ok, I am getting tons of emails from Robo on old emails I sent them, Anyone getting the same?
Aug 30, 2017 at 10:58 AM - Gaurhoth: Yea scroll up, you aren't alone.
Aug 30, 2017 at 10:59 AM - Gaurhoth: Seems like their helpdesk system is resending emails on old cases
    Aug 30, 2017 at 11:01 AM - MOwens5150: Shiny
Aug 30, 2017 at 11:14 AM - Geof: I emailed Braydon, Coby and Jerry so hopefully they will get someone on it asap.
Aug 30, 2017 at 11:29 AM - Gaurhoth: nothing a quick email filter can't take care of :D
    Aug 30, 2017 at 11:29 AM - Geof: ;)
Aug 30, 2017 at 11:33 AM - OutsourcedGuru: It's nice to see Braydon on here at least. Maybe they've had a chance to slow down and start taking care of business.
Aug 30, 2017 at 11:35 AM - krouton3: slowly getting this armcnanon done... next step now that i have it wired and spray painted on the front is to solder the back to it [IMG]
Aug 30, 2017 at 11:36 AM - OutsourcedGuru: @danzca6 My guess is that the G29 bed-leveling thing with the IR pair doesn't try to adjust the height, just to create a virtual plane by determining the relative offsets of each of the sampling points.
Aug 30, 2017 at 11:37 AM - OutsourcedGuru: As long as it can detect a response change then it will try to measure that as a relative difference from the other sampling points.
Aug 30, 2017 at 11:37 AM - OutsourcedGuru: But I could have that wrong.
Aug 30, 2017 at 12:02 PM - danzca6: right, G29 will probe the bed, in this case with the IR, to create a plane for ABL. However there is a distance from the IR to the bed that the IR will trigger. If that is 2mm from the IR and now the nozzle is more than 2mm from the bottom of the IR sensor it will hit the bed.
Aug 30, 2017 at 12:05 PM - danzca6: Also, z offset takes into account that the tip of the nozzle is X distance from the bottom of the IR. So when Z homes, the difference is taken into account when setting you z offset for the first layer. More than likely that will change with the different nozzle.
Aug 30, 2017 at 12:06 PM - danzca6: I use an IR sensor (same as what Robo put on the C2/R2) on my R1 and these are the things that needed to be taken into account when setting it up.
Aug 30, 2017 at 12:14 PM - KRGraphicsCG: About to order this new extruder
Aug 30, 2017 at 12:15 PM - danzca6: what extruder are you getting?
Aug 30, 2017 at 12:16 PM - OutsourcedGuru: @danzca6 Me... or KR? If you're asking me, then I'm getting a 2nd stock Robo extruder. But since I want to print a lot with these composite filaments, I need a hardened nozzle (and the tiny print stuff = tiny nozzle) so I have to sort all this out.
    Aug 30, 2017 at 12:17 PM - danzca6: KR
Aug 30, 2017 at 12:18 PM - danzca6: oh you going duals on the R2 then?
    Aug 30, 2017 at 12:18 PM - OutsourcedGuru: Me? C2
    Aug 30, 2017 at 12:19 PM - OutsourcedGuru: Braydon's getting me a part list
Aug 30, 2017 at 12:19 PM - danzca6: sorry...trying to keep track who has what these days
    Aug 30, 2017 at 12:19 PM - danzca6: so duals on the C2
Aug 30, 2017 at 12:20 PM - danzca6: Yeah Mark was working on that I think
Aug 30, 2017 at 12:20 PM - OutsourcedGuru: Saw that

    Aug 30, 2017 at 12:20 PM - danzca6: it's an ambitious project
Aug 30, 2017 at 12:21 PM - OutsourcedGuru: One of his problems is that he went non-stock for the second
    Aug 30, 2017 at 12:22 PM - KRGraphicsCG: I'm on the C2
    Aug 30, 2017 at 12:22 PM - KRGraphicsCG: getting the .15mm nozzle
Aug 30, 2017 at 12:22 PM - KRGraphicsCG: need to print engraved text
Aug 30, 2017 at 12:22 PM - danzca6: how much travel do you lose on X/Y with two extruders
Aug 30, 2017 at 12:23 PM - KRGraphicsCG: I am not using dual extruders
Aug 30, 2017 at 12:23 PM - OutsourcedGuru: KR's (temporarily) swapping his 0.4mm stock nozzle for a 0.15 PrintedSolid nozzle for a project, so it sounds.
Aug 30, 2017 at 12:24 PM - danzca6: ok I was asking that last question to OG
    Aug 30, 2017 at 12:24 PM - KRGraphicsCG: Yep
    Aug 30, 2017 at 12:24 PM - danzca6: ok...KR said a new extruder earlier...so just a new nozzle
Aug 30, 2017 at 12:24 PM - KRGraphicsCG: I'll probably use the nozzle for more detailed prints
    Aug 30, 2017 at 12:25 PM - danzca6: yeah I have the .15
    Aug 30, 2017 at 12:25 PM - danzca6: it's a tiny tiny hole
    Aug 30, 2017 at 12:25 PM - OutsourcedGuru: KR, here's a thread I posted on here, for what it's worth: http://community.robo3d.com/index.php?threads/smallest-realistic-text-from-0-2mm-resolution.18962/
Aug 30, 2017 at 12:25 PM - KRGraphicsCG: and I don't want to wait for delivery
Aug 30, 2017 at 12:26 PM - danzca6: have yet to use it though
Aug 30, 2017 at 12:26 PM - KRGraphicsCG: what I am working on now requires a smaller nozzle
Aug 30, 2017 at 12:26 PM - OutsourcedGuru: I could have sworn I had one on order but checked my P.O. box and nada.
Aug 30, 2017 at 12:27 PM - KRGraphicsCG: and looking at the head, I just remove a screw and replace the nozzle
Aug 30, 2017 at 12:27 PM - KRGraphicsCG: I'll do the print now
Aug 30, 2017 at 12:27 PM - KRGraphicsCG: and get the head another time
Aug 30, 2017 at 12:27 PM - OutsourcedGuru: If it were me, I'd document my z-offset from the LCD screen.
Aug 30, 2017 at 12:28 PM - OutsourcedGuru: And from what danzaca6 was saying... I'd be careful.
Aug 30, 2017 at 12:28 PM - OutsourcedGuru: Maybe, play around with the motor controls *without* any heat
Aug 30, 2017 at 12:28 PM - OutsourcedGuru: ...to see where the new nozzle thinks it is with respect to z.
Aug 30, 2017 at 12:29 PM - OutsourcedGuru: measure the old/new nozzle height with a caliper
    Aug 30, 2017 at 12:30 PM - OutsourcedGuru: I might even create a GCODE file manually with... home, G29 and then a G0 X60 Y60 Zsomething
    Aug 30, 2017 at 12:30 PM - OutsourcedGuru: (like Z10)
Aug 30, 2017 at 12:31 PM - OutsourcedGuru: and then march it down in z until I could confirm some sanity.
Aug 30, 2017 at 12:31 PM - OutsourcedGuru: (I've drilled my hotend into my bed before under heat... does it show from my paranoia?)
Aug 30, 2017 at 12:53 PM - Geof: dont know if anyone is looking for a cute little test print but here is one I made up that I give away at the shop to people that come up. "G3 Bot" https://pinshape.com/items/38300-3d-printed-g3-bot-with-hat
    Aug 30, 2017 at 12:53 PM - Geof: its free :D
Aug 30, 2017 at 1:05 PM - Curtis: haha.. cute
    Aug 30, 2017 at 2:36 PM - OutsourcedGuru: Great-looking print, btw
Aug 30, 2017 at 2:40 PM - krouton3: soldering is all done now bondo and spray painting left
Aug 30, 2017 at 5:54 PM - Geof: Thanks guru
Aug 30, 2017 at 5:54 PM - Geof: Thanks Curtis

Aug 31, 2017 at 6:42 AM - KRGraphicsCG: Good morning guys
Aug 31, 2017 at 6:43 AM - KRGraphicsCG: Finally got this plaque to print
Aug 31, 2017 at 6:43 AM - KRGraphicsCG: and the engraved text came out clear :)
Aug 31, 2017 at 6:46 AM - Geof: good deal!
Aug 31, 2017 at 6:46 AM - KRGraphicsCG: Had to print the plaque vertically
Aug 31, 2017 at 6:47 AM - KRGraphicsCG: less material waste too. Printing at .09mm
Aug 31, 2017 at 7:00 AM - KRGraphicsCG: Still getting that nozzle for character printing
Aug 31, 2017 at 7:01 AM - KRGraphicsCG: Or buy an SLA
Aug 31, 2017 at 7:03 AM - Geof: thats an odd resolution to end up on lol
Aug 31, 2017 at 7:13 AM - WheresWaldo: @KRGraphicsCG There arte quite a few less expensive SLA type of printers that use either DLP or LCD projection methods. These types are cheaper than the laser types that use galvanometers to direct a small laser at the resin material
    Aug 31, 2017 at 7:22 AM - Geof: indeed.
    Aug 31, 2017 at 7:42 AM - KRGraphicsCG: I don't know why I chose .09mm
Aug 31, 2017 at 7:42 AM - KRGraphicsCG: I was looking at the Wanhao D7
Aug 31, 2017 at 7:43 AM - KRGraphicsCG: but I would have to do the NanoDLP crap
Aug 31, 2017 at 8:05 AM - Geof: thats pretty easy to get done
    Aug 31, 2017 at 8:26 AM - KRGraphicsCG: I am considering getting the D7
Aug 31, 2017 at 8:26 AM - KRGraphicsCG: How big is the print volume on it
Aug 31, 2017 at 8:41 AM - Geof: small. Cant recall off hand. 118x60x180mm maybe?
    Aug 31, 2017 at 8:41 AM - Geof: the 118 I'm not certain of.
Aug 31, 2017 at 8:41 AM - Geof: they claim 120x68x200, had to google it lol.
Aug 31, 2017 at 8:42 AM - Geof: I think I set the slicer to the demensions above
    Aug 31, 2017 at 8:42 AM - daniel871: https://www.facebook.com/marketplace/item/1948667055358208
Aug 31, 2017 at 8:42 AM - daniel871: Another satisfied Robo customer lol
    Aug 31, 2017 at 8:42 AM - Geof: 500...good luck.
    Aug 31, 2017 at 8:43 AM - Geof: I'm a satisfied Robo customer :D
    Aug 31, 2017 at 8:43 AM - Geof: (obviously or I wouldn't Mod lol)
Aug 31, 2017 at 8:43 AM - daniel871: I can't get over the used pricing on printers that matches retail.
Aug 31, 2017 at 8:44 AM - Geof: for some reason I cant figure out people seem to think a used machine regardless of how old is worth what new machine is.
Aug 31, 2017 at 8:45 AM - daniel871: This guy can fuck right off: https://www.facebook.com/marketplace/item/1896379943957290
    Aug 31, 2017 at 8:46 AM - Geof: LOL
Aug 31, 2017 at 8:46 AM - daniel871: Buy my well known piece of shit machine for more than any other well known to actually work machine.
Aug 31, 2017 at 8:48 AM - daniel871: I haven't looked in a while but I'm pretty sure I could get two really good modern printers for that price.
Aug 31, 2017 at 8:48 AM - KRGraphicsCG: I might get the Moai
    Aug 31, 2017 at 8:48 AM - KRGraphicsCG: and the R2
Aug 31, 2017 at 8:48 AM - KRGraphicsCG: The Moai for my birthday
Aug 31, 2017 at 8:49 AM - daniel871: Get the Form2 and call it done.
Aug 31, 2017 at 8:49 AM - Geof: Daniel the Moai is well over half the price and proven reliable if built right :D
Aug 31, 2017 at 8:49 AM - Geof: not a bad option, plus your not stuck using proprietary materials
Aug 31, 2017 at 8:49 AM - daniel871: For the money that would go into those two machines.
Aug 31, 2017 at 8:49 AM - KRGraphicsCG: And the R2 is nice as well
Aug 31, 2017 at 8:50 AM - Geof: oh gotya.
Aug 31, 2017 at 8:50 AM - KRGraphicsCG: It's 1300 when you pay for shipping to the US
Aug 31, 2017 at 8:50 AM - Geof: R2 seems to have issues. I'd wait on that until they at least hash those issues out. Unless you can go and pick up from them and see the unit working :D
    Aug 31, 2017 at 8:50 AM - KRGraphicsCG: I wish the C2 had a heated bed
Aug 31, 2017 at 8:51 AM - daniel871: I've been impressed by how much babying Joel is giving the R2 to give it every opportunity to print PLA successfully before trying other filaments.
Aug 31, 2017 at 8:51 AM - KRGraphicsCG: If I want to print big, I will look for other machines too
Aug 31, 2017 at 8:51 AM - KRGraphicsCG: and I personally like PLA
Aug 31, 2017 at 8:54 AM - daniel871: If all you want to print is PLA you can get that Kossel delta for $200 and print nothing but.
Aug 31, 2017 at 8:55 AM - daniel871: Thing is huge, but can only handle PLA.
Aug 31, 2017 at 8:56 AM - Geof: meh delta... lol. Neat to watch...thats about it :D
Aug 31, 2017 at 8:57 AM - daniel871: Oh wait there is this one: https://www.amazon.com/FLSUN-Printer-Printing-Updated-Leveling/dp/B01HNMSTZU
Aug 31, 2017 at 8:58 AM - daniel871: That Monoprice delta is going to be such a fun toy when it finally releases to everyone.
Aug 31, 2017 at 9:03 AM - KRGraphicsCG: I was also looking at the Hatchbox Alpha
Aug 31, 2017 at 9:04 AM - KRGraphicsCG: prints really big
Aug 31, 2017 at 9:09 AM - Geof: i think you guys and I have a different idea of big lol
    Aug 31, 2017 at 9:13 AM - KRGraphicsCG: lol
Aug 31, 2017 at 9:13 AM - KRGraphicsCG: If I were to do a 12 inch model, I can just split it on the C2
Aug 31, 2017 at 9:14 AM - KRGraphicsCG: and use the .15mm nozzle
    Aug 31, 2017 at 9:17 AM - daniel871: I kinda want a Zortrax M300
    Aug 31, 2017 at 9:38 AM - danzca6: Interesting....Full color printing for $3K....but a divinci...https://techcrunch.com/2017/08/31/xyzprinting-announces-a-3000-full-color-3d-printer/
Aug 31, 2017 at 9:57 AM - OutsourcedGuru: Er, what? https://techcrunch.com/2017/01/03/the-da-vinci-nano-is-a-full-fledged-3d-printer-for-230/ Did that say $230?
    Aug 31, 2017 at 9:57 AM - OutsourcedGuru: Ah, a nano.
Aug 31, 2017 at 10:00 AM - KRGraphicsCG: Not fond of this
Aug 31, 2017 at 10:00 AM - KRGraphicsCG: don't like being locked to their filament
Aug 31, 2017 at 10:14 AM - daniel871: Eh. Their printers are supposedly ok once you replace the firmware.
Aug 31, 2017 at 10:15 AM - daniel871: They're doing that deal where if you buy $350 of filament they give you a 1.0A you can hack to use 3rd party filament with when you run out of their filament.
    Aug 31, 2017 at 10:16 AM - daniel871: http://www.xyzprinting.com/us_en/la..._source=FB-Summer+sale-+new+pic&utm_medium=FB
    Aug 31, 2017 at 10:26 AM - KRGraphicsCG: Nice
Aug 31, 2017 at 10:27 AM - KRGraphicsCG: I wish the C2 had a time remaining clock on the screen
Aug 31, 2017 at 10:49 AM - Geof: for 340.00 with 14 spools of what 500g filament plus a printer that just needs hacked that really not a bad deal
Aug 31, 2017 at 10:56 AM - Geof: so 12 spools at 600 g= 7.2 spools at say 25 each gets you that printer for around 160.00 (a little less really). Meh lol. Why not.l
Aug 31, 2017 at 3:22 PM - danzca6: Did you really just do that? :)
Aug 31, 2017 at 4:33 PM - Geof: Not yet but possibly soon. Depends on how I feel after a few days lol
Aug 31, 2017 at 5:29 PM - daniel871: They run that kind of sale pretty regular with different machines.
Aug 31, 2017 at 5:29 PM - daniel871: The 1.0 is probably the better one, not one of the jrs.

Sep 1, 2017 2:54 AM - sgomes: Finally made a copy of the SD card in the R2's raspberry pi, and replaced it with a larger one. Funnily enough, the SD card the printer ships with is 8GB, but it's only got a 4GB partition, so they're wasting half the space. Go figure.
Sep 1, 2017 2:55 AM - sgomes: So even if you don't replace your SD card (which you probably want to; you never know how long no-brand cards last), make sure to SSH into your R2 and run `raspi-config` to expand the partition size, so you can keep more STLs and timelapses in there :)
    Sep 1, 2017 2:57 AM - sgomes: gcode, not STL ;)
Sep 1, 2017 2:58 AM - sgomes: (unless you slice with Octoprint, in which case, time to take off the training wheels!)
    Sep 1, 2017 4:30 AM - danzca6: Good tip @sgomes
    Sep 1, 2017 4:30 AM - danzca6: I read this today... Interesting move. http://www.3ders.org/articles/20170...inting-materials-international-expansion.html
    Sep 1, 2017 5:04 AM - Geof: Good Morning
Sep 1, 2017 5:05 AM - Geof: saw that article Danz. Must be more good R2s getting out there then ones with issues (which is good) otherwise I wouldn't think colorfabb would have gotten on board.
Sep 1, 2017 5:27 AM - danzca6: Yeah Joel keeps saying he hasn't gotten the R2 to print with non Robo brand filament. So I asked him if he tried colorfabb yet.
Sep 1, 2017 5:56 AM - Geof: that seems to be only his issue from what I have seen on here.
    Sep 1, 2017 5:57 AM - danzca6: haha...he never responds to me anyway...I might be blocked
    Sep 1, 2017 5:58 AM - Geof: meh I wouldn't worry to much about it buddy :D
Sep 1, 2017 5:58 AM - Geof: robo filament is chinese cheapo rebranded. Runs the same as every other lol.
Sep 1, 2017 5:59 AM - danzca6: I have heard that robo filament bought from their store is better than the sample blue that came with the R1 series. I haven't tried it though.
Sep 1, 2017 5:59 AM - Hanover: The only problem Ive ever had with any particular PLA filament is how badly it's been wound on the spool.
Sep 1, 2017 6:00 AM - Hanover: looking at you Fry's SHAXON PLA
Sep 1, 2017 6:01 AM - Geof: I've ran a bunch of spools of their store bought PLA. No issues (not on a R2 but on every other one of my 1.75 machines) so I've got a few machines to vogue that its easily runable on any machine. Runs like hatchbox.
    Sep 1, 2017 6:01 AM - Geof: shaxon is garbage :D
Sep 1, 2017 6:01 AM - Geof: ranks right up there with inland imo. one spool fine, next spool from the same order/batch...total hot garbage.
    Sep 1, 2017 6:03 AM - Hanover: Yeah, it's snag city (tm)
Sep 1, 2017 6:05 AM - Geof: I run tons of filament and have slowly widdled it down to "great quality" and "good quality at a good cost"
Sep 1, 2017 6:06 AM - Geof: in reality...clients dont give a crap if its hatchbox foxsmart xyperland or colorfabb. "thank you for my part" lol
Sep 1, 2017 6:06 AM - danzca6: do they care about what printer it is done on more than the filament?
Sep 1, 2017 6:06 AM - danzca6: I know you have said you have had some customers request what printer
Sep 1, 2017 6:09 AM - Geof: some do. some have no idea the difference. As long as the end part looks good most are fine. New clients seem to picky (out of state people that want it on x machine for x money)
Sep 1, 2017 6:09 AM - Geof: Thats why I bought my Ultimaker lol.
Sep 1, 2017 6:10 AM - danzca6: that's why "they" bought the ultimaker right? Hahaha....hopefully ROI is quick on all the machines you buy
Sep 1, 2017 6:11 AM - Geof: lol they basically had a tooling charge that was half the cost of the machine.
    Sep 1, 2017 6:11 AM - danzca6: nice
Sep 1, 2017 6:11 AM - Geof: I think the ROI on that one was maybe 2 orders (2-3 weeks)
Sep 1, 2017 6:11 AM - Geof: the only machines that the ROI was rediculous on was the gmax and sigma. Both in production now but holy cow were they down forever.
Sep 1, 2017 6:13 AM - Geof: most machines are paid for by jobs on previous machines before I buy them but I still ROI them just to keep track :D I imagine I'll buy a couple more ultimakers next year and decomission a few older machines. Then the route of metal by end of next year (we hope)
Sep 1, 2017 6:15 AM - danzca6: desktop metal or another brand? Of course, by the end of '18 there might be more out there to choose from
Sep 1, 2017 6:15 AM - Geof: hoping there are a few more to choose from. DM is a great set up...but not really aimed at people like me (in my opinion). Not saying their out, just that keeping watch for others to sprout up.
Sep 1, 2017 6:15 AM - Geof: 125k isn't cheap to gamble on an unreleased machine lol.
Sep 1, 2017 6:16 AM - Geof: They've just been swimming in money but I dont know of any machines in the wild, still all preorders lol
Sep 1, 2017 6:16 AM - danzca6: wonder if you can get a friends and family discount from Mike :) hahaha
    Sep 1, 2017 6:25 AM - Geof: lol I dont think so :D
Sep 1, 2017 8:58 AM - OutsourcedGuru: @danzca6 I have lots of Robo-branded PLA. Seems to work great for me but I'm careful to repack it with the desiccant.
Sep 1, 2017 9:00 AM - OutsourcedGuru: @Hanover amen to the Shaxon crappola winding
Sep 1, 2017 9:03 AM - OutsourcedGuru: @KRGraphicsCG The time guesstimates coming out of OctoPrint are laughably wrong on all my jobs. You'd think that they'd at least remember how long it actually took the last time it printed the same part and go with that.
    Sep 1, 2017 12:56 PM - danzca6: https://printedsolid.com/products/7-touchscreen-wifi-3d-printer-controller-kit?variant=44196438668
Sep 1, 2017 12:57 PM - danzca6: Printed Solid just added that to the store...pretty nice really. Would make a nice addition to an R1/R1+ machine
Sep 1, 2017 2:23 PM - OutsourcedGuru: Oh man, for $160 he ought to flash that microSD.
Sep 1, 2017 2:44 PM - danzca6: Yeah I'm not sure why he wouldn't. Maybe a licensing issue with a commercially sold product?
Sep 1, 2017 7:54 PM - daniel871: At least include NOOBS like every other Pi3 kit that is half the price but doesn't include the acrylic or touch screen (most expensive part).
    Sep 1, 2017 7:58 PM - daniel871: Here is a nice alternative kit. https://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B01NB1HK24

Sep 2, 2017 5:42 AM - Hanover: Yeah, thats wayy too expensive. Especially when you can find a complete Pi kit w/ adapter for $35 or so. Why wouldn't you just print your own case? The stock Pi touch screen is $65.

Sep 4, 2017 8:53 AM - Toro1966: Morning all - quick question. Ok - not so quick since it's kind of like Ford or Chevy, What are the thoughts on Delta printers? I have read a good deal, but would value the thoughts of the folks on here.
Sep 4, 2017 9:02 AM - WheresWaldo: Toro, interesting to watch the first time you print, after that not so much. In addition harder to dial in with regard to leveling movements and extrusion, almost every one is a bowden setup)
Sep 4, 2017 9:03 AM - WheresWaldo: Can run much faster than a Cartesian printer. but requires more processing power to make the moves required to print.
Sep 4, 2017 9:04 AM - WheresWaldo: For me, it is more trouble than it is worth.
Sep 4, 2017 3:06 PM - Toro1966: Thanks Waldo. I appreciate the info. Separate topic. My r1+ needs new z carriage bearings. When I took it apart to do my usual maintenance on it I saw lots of minuscule bbs fall out. I assume I just have to hammer them out but what ones are the correct replacements?
Sep 4, 2017 3:53 PM - WheresWaldo: Press them out and push new ones in, cheap on Amazon, buy more than you need.
Sep 4, 2017 4:17 PM - danzca6: Toro, here is a link to the size you need. Cheap, but I would suggest cleaning and oiling them before installing. http://a.co/adatFkR
    Sep 4, 2017 4:17 PM - danzca6: also known as LM8UU
    Sep 4, 2017 5:45 PM - Toro1966: Thanks Dan!
Sep 4, 2017 5:46 PM - Toro1966: Seems to be working ok right now but for how long, who knows.
Sep 4, 2017 5:58 PM - Toro1966: I updated to the latest RCBUGFIX. Have to re-level ended up really close to the bed - lol. How do I reverse the direction of the scroll on the lcd
    Sep 4, 2017 8:12 PM - WheresWaldo: There are a couple of parameters in Configuration.h: REVERSE_ENCODER_DIRECTION, REVERSE_MENU_DIRECTION

Sep 4, 2017 9:54 PM - Toro1966: Thanks Waldo. So I need to change both?
Sep 5, 2017 6:36 AM - WheresWaldo: There are instructions within Configuration.h, experiment.
    Sep 5, 2017 7:35 AM - Toro1966: Got it - thanks Waldo!

    Sep 6, 2017 9:20 AM - Toro1966: Morning all.
    Sep 6, 2017 10:02 AM - OutsourcedGuru: Hey, Toro
Sep 6, 2017 10:09 AM - OutsourcedGuru: My 2nd (C2) hot end assembly is on its way from Robo (and some other stuff like a replacement bed). Guess I'll stalk Mark's thread and get the stepper (bowden) and filament gear next.
Sep 6, 2017 11:51 AM - Toro1966: Keep going back and forth on my next printer. Definitely want large form factor. CR-10S and Tevo Delta are the two at the top of the list right now.
Sep 6, 2017 2:20 PM - daniel871: Avoid Tevo unless you enjoy troubleshooting common sense shit that nobody should ship out. The CR-10 is probably the only cheap kit of that type that @toms3dp had anything good to say about.
Sep 6, 2017 4:03 PM - WheresWaldo: Dan, where have you been, saw you were terrorizing YT and Joel's videos
Sep 6, 2017 7:36 PM - Hanover: I finally received the copper sleeved thermistors from Ali Express. I think they'll work. I don't want to tear apart my extruder to find out though. They are .1 mm bigger than stock at the copper part. The stock goes a bit bigger at the end, past the copper wrap, so I think it'll be okay.
Sep 6, 2017 7:37 PM - Hanover: If my stock thermistor ever goes out, then I'll test one. :)
Sep 6, 2017 7:39 PM - Hanover: Here's the link to the Ali Express thermistors I ordered (click here)
    Sep 6, 2017 7:57 PM - Toro1966: Hey guys question regarding S3D
    Sep 6, 2017 7:57 PM - Toro1966: Having some support issues - both 3.1 and 4.0.
Sep 6, 2017 7:58 PM - Toro1966: First issue. Having a big time with supports coming up during print. Even with brim and solid layers for supports at the beginning
Sep 6, 2017 7:59 PM - Toro1966: Second issue is quality between the bottom layer and the supports. The supports come off no problem, but the underneath of the object - let's just say a chin in this case - is rough and you can see the extrusion of the layer -instead of being smooth. Thoughts? Should I reduce the distance between print and support?
Sep 6, 2017 8:11 PM - Toro1966: Also one more question - Having an issue with the latest RCBUGFIX for Mesh. Go through the bed leveling routine, store settings with M500, verify settings with G29, and it consistently prints way too close to the bed and i have to babystep it a significant amount off. I have done it 4 times and am barely touching the bed (paper test) when I level it - so it should not be that way. Any thoughts as to why it's doing it?

Sep 7, 2017 5:48 AM - daniel871: Terrorizing? Hardly. And I've been recovering from surgery these last couple (I guess "few" now) weeks.
Sep 7, 2017 5:53 AM - WheresWaldo: I hope the recovery is going well and you get back to 100%
Sep 7, 2017 5:54 AM - WheresWaldo: Was I supposed to post a smiley after my comment?
Sep 7, 2017 6:33 AM - daniel871: I can tell that I'm slowly getting better, but this sucks.
    Sep 7, 2017 6:34 AM - daniel871: No idea.
    Sep 7, 2017 6:58 AM - Toro1966: Morning all.
    Sep 7, 2017 7:02 AM - Geof: Good morning
    Sep 7, 2017 7:07 AM - Toro1966: What's up Geof!
Sep 7, 2017 7:33 AM - Geof: same ole same my friend lol. Making a printer :D
    Sep 7, 2017 7:54 AM - Toro1966: LOl - which one this time?
Sep 7, 2017 7:54 AM - Geof: gotta make a clay printer :D IDK why...just following orders lol
    Sep 7, 2017 7:56 AM - Toro1966: Haha - that's usually my line
Sep 7, 2017 7:56 AM - Toro1966: Havign issues with my Robos lately
Sep 7, 2017 7:58 AM - Geof: whats up with them?
Sep 7, 2017 7:59 AM - Toro1966: Installed latest RCBUGFIX and no matter how many times I run mesh. it's still too close to the bed. Going to probably try a different version - my Robo's are running two different versions of the bugfix
Sep 7, 2017 8:00 AM - Geof: are you offsetting in the start gcode? I dont worry to much about where it starts, just that after an offset is applied its "level" printing.
Sep 7, 2017 8:00 AM - Geof: I'm still rockin a way back version of mesh...like way way back. maybe 2nd release waldo did. If its not broke...print :D
Sep 7, 2017 8:00 AM - Toro1966: The other one just started giving me a thermal runaway. Going to have to check the thermistor and heater wiring again. I didn't see anything at first glance, but that's usually where the problem is. I don't believe I am offsetting at all - certainly not in my S3D startup code. Should I be checking somewhere else for it?
Sep 7, 2017 8:01 AM - Toro1966: Exactly! I only went with the latest on the 2nd robo because it was still running stock firmware.
Sep 7, 2017 8:01 AM - Geof: Thermal runaway either thermistor, failing heater or fans overpowering heater (if you use a duct its likely warped from heat).
Sep 7, 2017 8:02 AM - Toro1966: I do use a duct but it is PETG and seems to be pretty good, but I may reprint them anyway. Easy enough lol.
Sep 7, 2017 8:02 AM - Geof: I use a offset in my start script in S3D for mesh. Get the mesh level then offset to the right first layer for me. I dont care to much that its perfect out of the leveling process, just that when its laying down (after the offset) its good.
Sep 7, 2017 8:02 AM - Toro1966: I also use a sock on the E3D which seems to help - but now that you mention it - i think I had removed the sock before the runaway....
Sep 7, 2017 8:02 AM - Geof: I'd double check it. remove it from the printer and look at it to see if it deformed and the air is hitting the heater block
Sep 7, 2017 8:03 AM - Toro1966: What's the right code for the offset in Mesh? Can you post or send me your mesh startup and shutdown code?
    Sep 7, 2017 8:03 AM - Geof: I hate the socks :D. I get rid of them.
    Sep 7, 2017 8:03 AM - Geof: G28 ; home all axis
    Sep 7, 2017 8:04 AM - Geof: G1 Z5 F5000 ; lift Z by 5mm
    Sep 7, 2017 8:04 AM - Geof: G29 S4 Z-xx.xx ; offset for mesh is further from the bed
Sep 7, 2017 8:04 AM - Geof: thats it in my script lol. I'm sure there is a better way but thats how I do it.
Sep 7, 2017 8:07 AM - Toro1966: The sock is a pain in the but. it keeps the nozzle clean but won't stay completely on.
Sep 7, 2017 8:08 AM - Toro1966: What should the offset be as a starting point? And is it the same where more - is actually up?
Sep 7, 2017 8:13 AM - Geof: start a print and baby step it until you like the first layer...use that number from the lcd lol
Sep 7, 2017 8:13 AM - Geof: positive is further from the bed.
Sep 7, 2017 9:02 AM - Toro1966: Ok thanks. I know that number, but wanted to make sure there was a corrrelation between that number and the offset. I had hear the babysteps did not really relate to anything concrete.
Sep 7, 2017 9:05 AM - WheresWaldo: Toro, I think babysteps are total number of steps so it directly relates to movement, I can't remember if they have since translated it to mm, but on the R1+PLUS each step is 0.02 mm
Sep 7, 2017 9:07 AM - WheresWaldo: That is for full steps, divide by 16 to get the rise per microstep, which is what babysteps displayed in the past.
Sep 7, 2017 9:24 AM - Toro1966: Thanks Waldo - so mine are about .800 on the screen until perfect. Is that 800 steps?
Sep 7, 2017 9:28 AM - WheresWaldo: Should be, I believe. How is that for being non-committal.
Sep 7, 2017 9:38 AM - Toro1966: Lol. No problem. I'll use trial and error and see how it works. :)
Sep 7, 2017 9:39 AM - Toro1966: Als - can I change how many baby steps scroll at a time. The biggest problem now is that it takes forever to scroll to 800 by 1.....and by that time it's into printing the object and not the skirt anymore.
Sep 7, 2017 9:41 AM - Geof: double your skirt numbers :D. Or more to get it dialed in for the offset. Firmware controls babystep numbers and can be adjusted if you want
Sep 7, 2017 9:46 AM - Toro1966: Is there a marlin firmware controls for dummies :) I just don't know which configuration tabs (other than .h) do
    Sep 7, 2017 9:51 AM - Geof: I'd start a thread buddy :D You'll get many more answers that way :D books at so 1994 :D ;)
Sep 7, 2017 9:51 AM - Geof: I typically just ask how things are done from these smarties here and learn that way (or google lol)
Sep 7, 2017 9:51 AM - Geof: :p :D :) ;) some more emojis because its that kind of day for me
    Sep 7, 2017 9:59 AM - Toro1966: haha - love it!
Sep 7, 2017 10:00 AM - Toro1966: Will start a thread because there are multiple things I might want to modify. Nothing major, but steps, direction, etc. Also going to have to play with the offset. Strange because the machine I have with the older RCBUGFIX on it is dialed in almost exactly perfect with no offset at all.
    Sep 7, 2017 10:01 AM - Toro1966: I barely have to babystep at all.
    Sep 7, 2017 10:01 AM - Toro1966: and then it's depenedant on material
Sep 7, 2017 10:02 AM - Toro1966: Also going to have to look for another dual fan holder for e3dv6. I have been useing the ones by novice expert and they have worked, but I want to just be sure they are not interfering with my supports. They definitely don't touch so i assume they are not, but I keep having the dickens of a time getting supports to stick.
Sep 7, 2017 10:03 AM - Geof: I'd imagine thats more in your support settings. Will DM you my profile for S3D V4
    Sep 7, 2017 10:07 AM - Toro1966: That would be perfect!
    Sep 7, 2017 10:08 AM - Geof: Done
Sep 7, 2017 10:08 AM - Toro1966: Then I can also see your offset and start code.
    Sep 7, 2017 10:08 AM - Toro1966: Most excellent sir.
    Sep 7, 2017 10:08 AM - Toro1966: Frosty beverage next time you're in SoCal
Sep 7, 2017 10:08 AM - Geof: LOL :D I dont leave Illinois hardly ;) to many printers here to leave
    Sep 7, 2017 10:09 AM - Toro1966: Wish I had that problem!
Sep 7, 2017 10:09 AM - Geof: yep its all in there. That ones for my titan R1+ not my standard e3D R1+ but should be fine. I can slice and run both machines on it with slight offset adjustments.
Sep 7, 2017 10:09 AM - Geof: (one Robo at the shop one at the home shop)
Sep 7, 2017 10:09 AM - Geof: lol I dont think you do :D. Its still a problem no matter how you look at it :D
Sep 7, 2017 10:10 AM - Geof: maintaining and tuning as many as I have is a full time job in itself :D
Sep 7, 2017 10:10 AM - Toro1966: determined to pull the trigger on the large format one in the near future. I am just OCD and do too much research
Sep 7, 2017 10:10 AM - Geof: Yea I saw your shoutbox post. CR10 would be what I would do over a Tevo. You talk to Matt? For a few hundred (like 500) more you can get the 20x20x20 version Cr10 from tiny machines. just buy it with the upgrades already.
    Sep 7, 2017 10:11 AM - Toro1966: Sent Matt an email - hadn't heard back.
Sep 7, 2017 10:11 AM - Geof: Pretty sure that will be my next machine and I'll put a e3d and a titan on it to support my gmax on those large large print jobs we get
    Sep 7, 2017 10:11 AM - Toro1966: I like the 20x20x20 - but the heated bed only covers 300x300
Sep 7, 2017 10:12 AM - Geof: send him another one lol. He will get back to you unless he doesn't see it.
Sep 7, 2017 10:12 AM - Toro1966: agreed - he's a good guy. Not sure how much of an issue the heated bed really is as I mainly use PLA.
    Sep 7, 2017 10:12 AM - Geof: https://tiny-machines-3d.myshopify.com/products/creality-cr-10-s5-largest-build-area-3d-printer
Sep 7, 2017 10:13 AM - Geof: see the boxes I checked for the upgrades lol. The kenova heater upgrade is exactly what you'll want. Thats how my gmax does it and its got a fantastic heat bed. Love it.
Sep 7, 2017 10:14 AM - Geof: even with the upgrades keep in mind its a cheap machine. Will likely need to knock some china out of it when you get it or shortly after. Fans, hotend, nozzle, wiring fixes, extruder hob. etc
Sep 7, 2017 10:15 AM - Toro1966: That's what i figure. I like it though because its basic. Upgrades and improvements should be simple to do.
Sep 7, 2017 10:16 AM - Toro1966: Any issues with the upgraded heatbed? I mean specifically - if I understand it correctly, you put a temp in S3D but it doesn't really matter because the heatbed is controlled with it's own controller.
Sep 7, 2017 10:17 AM - Toro1966: Also downside to the large CR-10 (S5) is that it does not come with the updated/upgraded motherboard that the CR-10S ships with.
Sep 7, 2017 10:19 AM - OutsourcedGuru: If I were @Geof I'd have to keep a spreadsheet of settings/tweaks by printer. It's already a hassle with one printer (plus multiple filaments, potentially now more than one bed, etc)
Sep 7, 2017 10:20 AM - Toro1966: Yeah - i really need to learn to print a temp tower and work on settings lol. never done it.
    Sep 7, 2017 10:22 AM - OutsourcedGuru: ?
Sep 7, 2017 10:22 AM - Toro1966: Mine prints pretty nicely as is so I have never tried to dial it in perfectly. Would like to do that though. Any specific files you guys use or recommend to do your tweaking?
Sep 7, 2017 10:22 AM - Toro1966: Geof - do you have an S3D profile for temp tower I could use?
    Sep 7, 2017 10:23 AM - Toro1966: Thanks for the vid Guru!
Sep 7, 2017 10:27 AM - Geof: lower temp? What did it export as ?
Sep 7, 2017 10:28 AM - Geof: should be a drop down with a handful of different profiles. PLA should be in there
    Sep 7, 2017 12:52 PM - Toro1966: Thanks!
Sep 7, 2017 12:53 PM - Toro1966: I have to figure out how to use multiple processes for the temp tower. I ams ure it's in the video - I just have to make the time to watch the darn thing!
Sep 7, 2017 1:50 PM - OutsourcedGuru: For videos, you kind of have to interpolate to the section where you think he'll talk about that. ha
Sep 7, 2017 1:51 PM - OutsourcedGuru: Ain' nobody got time for that... /SweetBrown
Sep 7, 2017 4:20 PM - OutsourcedGuru: Do we like the Obsidian? https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/1403065126/obsidian-3d-printer-high-quality-sleek-and-afforda
Sep 7, 2017 4:35 PM - WheresWaldo: The only thing that makes it even remotely interesting is the software, so you need to pledge $250. All the lower tiers are just printers. I think JT did a video since Obsidian drove a cherry picked unit up to him.
Sep 7, 2017 4:36 PM - WheresWaldo: @ $250 you get the Smart LCD screen
Sep 7, 2017 7:34 PM - daniel871: FWIW, I think the Obsidian is crap. The cherry picked model Joel Telling played with generated some hot garbage prints.
Sep 7, 2017 7:35 PM - daniel871: He said they looked good but I would call them all failed prints if they came off any of my machines.
Sep 7, 2017 7:35 PM - WheresWaldo: I don't usually watch Joel's videos, I am not into unboxings and beginner prints.
Sep 7, 2017 7:36 PM - daniel871: Parts literally fell off of printed models and he still said they looked good.
    Sep 7, 2017 7:36 PM - daniel871: Also retraction blobs/zits everywhere.
Sep 7, 2017 7:37 PM - daniel871: Also the bed vibrates in the platform when X&Y are moving.
Sep 7, 2017 7:37 PM - WheresWaldo: Joel has a very hard time saying something is bad. It's his shtick. That is one reason I rarely watch any of his videos anymore.
Sep 7, 2017 7:39 PM - WheresWaldo: I could do a better job if I was at all interested in a full time YouTube job.
Sep 7, 2017 7:39 PM - WheresWaldo: So Dan, printed anything interesting lately?

Sep 7, 2017 7:39 PM - daniel871: I did enjoy his comparing the R2 to a high school student that could get A's if he wasn't slacking off and doing the bare minimum to get C's.
Sep 7, 2017 7:41 PM - daniel871: Not recently. I've got everything printed for an enlarged MP3DP build, just biding time sourcing pipes.
Sep 7, 2017 7:42 PM - WheresWaldo: I am working on a few prototype cycling mounts, but took a break to design and print a Titan mount for the R2. Its printing now, got 10 hours to go.
Sep 7, 2017 7:44 PM - daniel871: I was going to do some comedy "shoot 3d printed parts and see how the hold up to rifle rounds" videos but that was put on hold while I'm healing.
Sep 7, 2017 7:45 PM - daniel871: As a sort of "hold my beer" response to Tom Sanladerer's video where he used puny pistol ammo.
Sep 7, 2017 7:46 PM - WheresWaldo: Funny, do you by chance watch Smarter Every Day on YT?
    Sep 7, 2017 7:46 PM - daniel871: Never heard of it.
    Sep 7, 2017 7:46 PM - daniel871: They've already done it?
Sep 7, 2017 7:48 PM - WheresWaldo: No but he did a couple of videos on shooting a Prince Rupert Drop with high powered rifles, it was amazing just how tough a piece of glass can be.
    Sep 7, 2017 7:48 PM - WheresWaldo: https://www.youtube.com/channel/UC6107grRI4m0o2-emgoDnAA
Sep 7, 2017 7:49 PM - WheresWaldo: He has a lot of interesting videos about all sorts of subjects.
    Sep 7, 2017 8:04 PM - daniel871: I've been watching dumb stuff like this:
Sep 7, 2017 8:11 PM - WheresWaldo: Well, at least your description is accurate
Sep 7, 2017 8:15 PM - daniel871: Most of that guy's videos are mucking about with AI scripts in games.
Sep 7, 2017 8:50 PM - Dick Travis: Hey Geof...Could you possible send me some GCODE to Pause my R2, let me change filaments, then Restart at the same place I paused?? Thanks a million..

    Sep 8, 2017 12:28 AM - daniel871: Use this, Dick Travis: http://www.prusaprinters.org/color-print/
Sep 8, 2017 5:40 AM - Geof: Hi Dick Travis, 100% agree with Daniel. Thats exactly what I use. It works well and forces the printer into a filament command change so you dont have to modify the gcode manually. (and its free) :D works on almost all my machines np.
    Sep 8, 2017 8:56 AM - danzca6: M600 is the change filament gcode command
Sep 8, 2017 8:57 AM - Geof: Hi danz! and stop that! lol just use the prusa print! :D lol it works dagnabbit ;)
    Sep 8, 2017 9:13 AM - danzca6: well...he wanted to know the gcode command...sooo I gave it :)
Sep 8, 2017 9:15 AM - danzca6: There's also a way to script it into S3D if you want to get real fancy and not use the prusa print utility
Sep 8, 2017 9:21 AM - danzca6: hey, free shipping on Prusa MK2S kits through the weekend for anyone interested
    Sep 8, 2017 9:21 AM - danzca6: that's 10% off
Sep 8, 2017 9:22 AM - Dick Travis: Hey guys?? Prusa won't allow me to use my gcode from Cura at least Cura for Robo?? Does Robo support the M600 command I have a hunch Robo R2 won't LOCK the Extruder like the R1 Did??
Sep 8, 2017 9:23 AM - danzca6: really? I've used Cura generated gcode before with it
Sep 8, 2017 9:24 AM - danzca6: I don't have an R2 but I'm sure it does. The filament runout sensor uses the M600 code
Sep 8, 2017 9:25 AM - Dick Travis: My cura for Robo is 2.5.0 I don't know why we have to use it??
Sep 8, 2017 9:26 AM - Dick Travis: Prusa message was: unrecognized slicer engine--handled as Kisslicer...May not work??
    Sep 8, 2017 9:26 AM - danzca6: "G-code is supported from Slic3r, Cura, KISSlicer and Simplify3D"
Sep 8, 2017 9:27 AM - danzca6: Wonder if 2.5.0 is putting an odd comment that Prusa isn't expecting
Sep 8, 2017 9:27 AM - Dick Travis: It must be I have an appointment on Monday with LEVEL 2 Robo to find out???
Sep 8, 2017 9:27 AM - danzca6: If I was home I would slice something with 2.5 and try it
    Sep 8, 2017 9:28 AM - Dick Travis: Thanks...
Sep 8, 2017 9:29 AM - Geof: export your cura profile, download an older version of cura and import your cura profile. Slice and save gcode and try again. Dont have a R2 and I use S3D so not sure what Cura would be doing to it
Sep 8, 2017 9:34 AM - danzca6: I'm on lunch break...so I'll install it real quick and slice something to see. Might just need something in the header of the gcode changed before using the utility
Sep 8, 2017 9:35 AM - Dick Travis: Thanks so much guys, but I'm pretty new at this and am afraid of using S3D with the new R2, but will keep trying
    Sep 8, 2017 9:37 AM - danzca6: nice....missing dll after installing it...oh Robo you silly
Sep 8, 2017 9:39 AM - Dick Travis: I have to go for a while, but I really appreciate your testing it??
Sep 8, 2017 9:59 AM - danzca6: I'll have to wait to try when I get home...It just doesn't like this machine right now
    Sep 8, 2017 10:02 AM - Geof: Thanks Danz :D
Sep 8, 2017 10:03 AM - danzca6: I see the cura for robo version has a profile for the R1+. I may need to try that out
Sep 8, 2017 10:16 AM - Geof: worth a shot, I dont imagine its well tuned but knowing you you'll knock that out in a few minutes :D
    Sep 8, 2017 10:42 AM - BryZad: Hello all
    Sep 8, 2017 11:41 AM - Geof: Hi BryZad
Sep 8, 2017 12:56 PM - Geof: Dont know if anyone is interested but makergeeks has this:
    Sep 8, 2017 12:56 PM - Geof: https://www.makergeeks.com/products/transitional-3d-printer-filament-spools-grab-bag-1-75mm
Sep 8, 2017 12:57 PM - Geof: I bought 3 spools (recieved them yesterday) and will start running soon. Read description- these are NG spools. They have defects of some kind. READ DESCRIPTION and dont hate on me if it sucks lol. Will do my best to post if not total garbage.
Sep 8, 2017 1:05 PM - daniel871: I like the product picture showing a big bird nest around still wrapped spools.
Sep 8, 2017 1:16 PM - Geof: Lol no question is not new stuff lol
Sep 8, 2017 1:17 PM - Geof: Here is my tweets about opening them https://twitter.com/gmweed/status/906242561270009858
    Sep 8, 2017 1:51 PM - BryZad: How's things been going Geof
Sep 8, 2017 2:20 PM - Geof: Not bad and yourseld
    Sep 8, 2017 2:20 PM - Geof: Yourself***
Sep 8, 2017 2:47 PM - OutsourcedGuru: At @Geof, if you had a re-spooler you could just spool off the outer color and not worry about an abrupt color change somewhere down the line.
    Sep 8, 2017 4:15 PM - Geof: Color doesn't matter to me
Sep 8, 2017 4:24 PM - Dick Travis: I was successful in printing two colors MANUALLY...I just was careful to NOT move the Extruder!! For now, it works???
    Sep 8, 2017 5:16 PM - Geof: Hey thats awesome ! Congrats !
Sep 8, 2017 5:35 PM - BryZad: I am not doing to bad been plugging away on my bb-8 build
Sep 8, 2017 5:53 PM - Toro1966: Hey guys - having an issue with MESH leveling using latest RCBUGFIX. firmware is loaded fine and Waldo's logo comes up as it should. I connect printer to computer, and start bed leveling. Communication with printer is good - I have good data flowing in S3D. Go through entire 30 leveling points....leveling finishes. Send M500 and S3D reports settings saved. Unplug USB for printer. Plug it back in, issue G29 - and get no mesh data stored.
Sep 8, 2017 5:54 PM - Toro1966: I failed to mention it but after I push M500 after leveling, I push G29 and it comes up with the MESH points as it should. It's only after I unhook the computer and plug it back in that it seems to have lost all MESH information.
Sep 8, 2017 6:47 PM - OutsourcedGuru: @Toro1966 I wonder if the startup code for something is running M502 followed by M500 (load factory defaults from configuration.h).
Sep 8, 2017 6:48 PM - Toro1966: I'll do m502. M500 and then try level again. Then m500 when level complete. Thanks Guru.
Sep 8, 2017 6:48 PM - OutsourcedGuru: Actually, there's a line in configuration.h which kind of ignores the EEPROM. https://github.com/MarlinFirmware/Marlin/wiki/EEPROM
Sep 8, 2017 6:49 PM - OutsourcedGuru: Confirm with someone who knows better, to be honest
Sep 8, 2017 6:49 PM - Toro1966: This is Waldo's rcbugfix and I've used other variants of it so I can't imagine why it's not working. I'll try and hit him up. Thanks.
Sep 8, 2017 6:49 PM - OutsourcedGuru: Read that. You can run that M503 S0 to see what's stored
Sep 8, 2017 6:50 PM - OutsourcedGuru: You can always do a screencap and save at least an image copy of what that leveling job tried to do
Sep 8, 2017 7:40 PM - Toro1966: True. But the wierd thing is that everything seems to be working exactly as it usually should. Yup I remove the cable from the laptop.
Sep 8, 2017 7:53 PM - OutsourcedGuru: I'm printing a bolt gauge (since I'm noticing a lot of z-axis hole inaccuracy), kind of like something you'd see at Ace Hardware or the Home Depot for sizing your brought-in bolt.
Sep 8, 2017 8:07 PM - danzca6: @Dick Travis...I installed the Cura for Robo and got the same error when importing the gcode on the prusa site and app. Using an earlier version Cura gcode it works just fine. The gcode itself is a bit different and that is probably why it doesn't recognize it automatically.
Sep 8, 2017 8:07 PM - danzca6: I played with it for awhile and not much luck.
Sep 8, 2017 8:08 PM - danzca6: However, I do like the default setup Robo did with the Cura version.

Sep 9, 2017 11:34 AM - OutsourcedGuru: @Dick Travis I'm running Cura 2.3.1 (I've heard that later versions have a problem with the supports not separating.)
Sep 9, 2017 12:42 PM - Dick Travis: Will research..
Sep 9, 2017 12:42 PM - Momenslythe: Yeah default Cura for Robo has bad support separation on my C2 for me.

Sep 10, 2017 4:02 AM - Kilrah: mmh, Pi on my R2 partially locking up right after booting and behaving awry... obviously not so good when partition has 0 bytes free :p
Sep 10, 2017 7:10 AM - WheresWaldo: Kilrah, this has been my experience with the rPi any corruption of the µSD card can cause issues. filling the µSD has the same effect.
    Sep 10, 2017 8:21 AM - WheresWaldo: Hey Geof, how's it going?
Sep 10, 2017 8:22 AM - WheresWaldo: Quick question, does your Ulimaker home with the bed at the bottom or bed at the top?
    Sep 10, 2017 8:59 AM - danzca6: FWIR top
Sep 10, 2017 9:05 AM - Dick Travis: cura for robo...had no problems on support separation on R2...
Sep 10, 2017 9:39 AM - Kilrah: Yeah didn't notice straight away, was gonna reimage the card, but wanted to copy the timelapses before so mounted the card on a linux VM and there saw it was full to the brim. Just cleaned up and it runs great again, didn't need to reimage
Sep 10, 2017 4:11 PM - OutsourcedGuru: Well, yeah... Linux tends to drill itself into the ground if the main partition fills up (like with log files).
