Jan 30, 2018 at 6:32 AM - Geof: Waldo howd you do on the R2 yesterday? Get her oiled up :D
Jan 30, 2018 at 6:46 AM - WheresWaldo: I cleaned up the rails a bit and relubed, it is a bit quieter now. Still using dry lube.
    Jan 30, 2018 at 7:03 AM - Geof: gotya.
Jan 30, 2018 at 7:08 AM - WheresWaldo: Its just the way I roll. A long time ago I switched all my bicycle chains to sparsely applied wax based lubricant and use it wherever I have a moving part that doesn't require a wet lube.
Jan 30, 2018 at 7:09 AM - WheresWaldo: I have seen evidence that most people over-lubricate or don't do it at all, more people on the extremes than in the middle.
Jan 30, 2018 at 7:11 AM - WheresWaldo: I am a big fan of Boeshield T9, but sometimes go old school with paraffin.
Jan 30, 2018 at 7:15 AM - Geof: just use 3 in 1 oil :D lol. Literally on most everything, chains get chain lube but I'm a freak about maintenance and do it probably to often
Jan 30, 2018 at 7:32 AM - WheresWaldo: You only need a chain specific lube in wet weather, otherwise a dry lube will keep wear to a minimum and be cleaner. The issue with chain wear is mostly dirt and other abrasives that get into the lube, not lack of lubricant on a clean chain. Plus a wax based lube has less cast off on rotating parts. But you keep doing what your doing, regular maintenance is more than most people do.
Jan 30, 2018 at 7:35 AM - WheresWaldo: Also most items that require lubricant that comes from China are not pre-lubricated. The stuff they usually use is to protect the parts from surface oxidation and not a real lubricant. I clean all my chinese bearings then either repack or relube (depending on apoplication), I rarely have premature bearing failure
Jan 30, 2018 at 7:47 AM - WheresWaldo: I wonder where danzca6 has been lately, I miss all the cheap filament deals he seems to know how to dig up on Amazon.
Jan 30, 2018 at 8:31 AM - Geof: I think he has been AFK for a bit and likely a bit longer. I think he sees the deals through amazons morning emails. Not sure how he curates them though. I normally see wierd stuff like makeup and tvs lol
Jan 30, 2018 at 8:33 AM - WheresWaldo: I was trying to find some cheap black PLA, too bad I didn't buy more of that >$8 deal, it prints really nice and has an eggshell type sheen when printed.
Jan 30, 2018 at 9:15 AM - Geof: zyltech black PLA 10pk bundle is the cheapest good filament I've found. Everythign else is hit and miss order to order
Jan 30, 2018 at 9:16 AM - Geof: use to run a ton of foxsmart as well
    Jan 30, 2018 at 9:16 AM - Geof: http://thefoxsmart.com/shop/pla-filament-2/
Jan 30, 2018 at 12:20 PM - Geof: Looks like Type A machines shut down :D time to look for a replacement machine and take it out of the farm.
Jan 30, 2018 at 12:32 PM - WheresWaldo: I thought the Type A were bulletproof, you know what the issue is?
Jan 30, 2018 at 12:32 PM - Geof: I'd imagine the 2015 model being their most current was probably the death of them. 12x12x12 build volumes use to be uncommon, not so much anymore.
Jan 30, 2018 at 12:32 PM - Geof: at 4k retail you can get a few 12x12x12 machines these days.
Jan 30, 2018 at 12:33 PM - Geof: instead of making a new model I imagine they figured theirs was the best and are now done because of it lol.
Jan 30, 2018 at 12:35 PM - daniel871: Yeah, going so long without any improvements to the machine is pretty much guaranteed to kill the sales.
Jan 30, 2018 at 12:35 PM - Geof: I'm betting this year will be full of companies like them shutting down. to much competition. I'm fairly confident American companies cant compete with the ....overwhelming...amount of machines on the market.
Jan 30, 2018 at 12:36 PM - Geof: indeed Daniel. Cant sit back and hope tech from 3 years ago is still relevant lol.
Jan 30, 2018 at 12:38 PM - Geof: Shame though, X and Y used linear rails not rods, all metal body, web connectivity out of the box, sturdy extrusion system. not sure why they used the beagle and rumba boards but did use TMC drivers
Jan 30, 2018 at 12:39 PM - Geof: overall a real nice machine for 2015-2016. I think if they didn't shut down early on it would have been by the end of 2018. Got to put new models out or nobody will buy them :D

    Jan 31, 2018 7:01 AM - WheresWaldo: Morning Geof
Jan 31, 2018 7:18 AM - Geof: Hey Waldo! Good morning
Jan 31, 2018 7:42 AM - WheresWaldo: Anything exciting today?
Jan 31, 2018 9:15 AM - Geof: not at all. Tuning in the stacker after a titan and V6 modification to take the place of the Type A. Packing up the Type A to take to the home shop.
Jan 31, 2018 9:15 AM - Geof: time lapse for client production parts per agreements going lol.
Jan 31, 2018 9:17 AM - WheresWaldo: Replaced taillight housing on daughters car, printing Friendly Octopus pen holder for her to, that is about it.
Jan 31, 2018 9:19 AM - Geof: nice ! Hows the R2 doin? Hangin in there?
Jan 31, 2018 9:20 AM - WheresWaldo: Yep, no real issues, have some new PEI sheets at the post office so I will have two beds here soon. Good thing UBL with R2 stuff enabled can hold 29 separate meshes.
Jan 31, 2018 9:20 AM - Geof: nice. Mines back to stock, V2 bed.
Jan 31, 2018 9:21 AM - Geof: well almost stock, need to reflash the firmware to the stock one but then its stock.
Jan 31, 2018 9:22 AM - WheresWaldo: I will keep modifying, seems Allen (robo) has actually listened to the results of some of my mods and will be incorporating some in new firmware/hardware
Jan 31, 2018 9:22 AM - Geof: C2 is rockin socks. Just PLA, no reason to push for anything else on the cold bed. R1+ machines up and going. MK2 is finally fixed and the lady is running stuff on it for her lol.
Jan 31, 2018 9:22 AM - Geof: I have enough mods on the R1 machines where the R2 can be "appliance" style. I can run production on it but there is no real reason to.
Jan 31, 2018 9:23 AM - Geof: They need to fix the mainboard issue and I'd be happy. Those stepper drivers are pathetic.
Jan 31, 2018 9:23 AM - Geof: honestly thats one reason why I dont run it much as of lately, its just so damn loud
Jan 31, 2018 9:24 AM - WheresWaldo: Still think the C2 is kind of a toy, like that Monoprice Mini Delta. Belongs in a den printing Thingiverse tchotchkes
Jan 31, 2018 9:24 AM - WheresWaldo: He did share with the FB group that he is experimenting with TMC2130's
    Jan 31, 2018 9:31 AM - Geof: C2 is a mean machine. Much more reliable than the R2 :D
Jan 31, 2018 9:32 AM - Geof: just lackin heatbed. Build volume is small but does enough.
Jan 31, 2018 9:32 AM - Geof: The lady uses it and the MK2 for her stuff :D
    Jan 31, 2018 9:32 AM - WheresWaldo: Yeah for printing tchotchkes :D
Jan 31, 2018 9:33 AM - Geof: lol oh no. The lady uses it for organizing.
Jan 31, 2018 9:33 AM - Geof: last print was holders for her air brush kit
Jan 31, 2018 9:34 AM - Geof: she has 5 or 6 air brush guns and likes them all on stand. Then she is going to (from what I understand) make some "thing" to hold the paints- imagine like a spice rack I guess? In a bunch of pieces
Jan 31, 2018 9:35 AM - WheresWaldo: I have two airbrushes, I keep them in their cases.
Jan 31, 2018 9:36 AM - Geof: she has a "booth" table set up in the basement and likes everything to have a home and easily reachable :D
Jan 31, 2018 9:36 AM - Geof: after that I have a few PLA prints for the games out in the garage I need to get done.
Jan 31, 2018 9:36 AM - WheresWaldo: I did recently print holders for rework air nozzles and another for soldering tips.
Jan 31, 2018 9:36 AM - Geof: but patiently waiting lol
Jan 31, 2018 9:37 AM - Geof: thats right up her ally lol. Everything has and is in its home.
Jan 31, 2018 9:37 AM - Geof: me? Not so much everything is everywhere in my home lol
Jan 31, 2018 9:37 AM - WheresWaldo: My usual method for stuff like this, is find something on Thingiverse, print it, see what I don't like, then do a new design in Fusion 360.
Jan 31, 2018 9:40 AM - Geof: gotya. Most times I just model up something. Its never fancy, just functional.
Jan 31, 2018 9:46 AM - WheresWaldo: Most of my modeling is functional, that is why I am such a huge fane of Fusion 360, I am not artistic at all, admire those that can 3D model in Blender.
Jan 31, 2018 9:47 AM - Geof: agree. I'm the same way, cannot do organic modeling. Can only make "parts".
Jan 31, 2018 10:04 AM - WheresWaldo: Approaching 60% success rate printing on the R2
Jan 31, 2018 10:07 AM - Geof: I think mine is up to 80% but not testing is the only reason :D
Jan 31, 2018 10:18 AM - WheresWaldo: If it wasn't for all the forced stops during testing I would likely be 80% or higher too.
Jan 31, 2018 10:19 AM - Geof: yep, power outages killed me for a bit during testing. Had some serious power issues while they were working on the lines around my neighborhood lol.

Feb 1, 2018 at 6:38 AM - WheresWaldo: So Makerbot just sent me $5, don't know what for and can't find any reason in the Thingiverse Dashboard.
Feb 1, 2018 at 6:55 AM - Geof: LOL! Tryin to convince you to buy the makerbot Z18 they are pushing :D
Feb 1, 2018 at 6:56 AM - Geof: 10 free spools of makerbot PLA included! :D and the experimental extruder! WOOT lol!!!!!
Feb 1, 2018 at 6:58 AM - WheresWaldo: I know it is a tip the designer payout, just don't know what for.
Feb 1, 2018 at 7:02 AM - Geof: who knows with them :D they dont seem to have all their eggs sorted still. Thingiverse appears to be...a mess lol.
Feb 1, 2018 at 8:54 AM - daniel871: Anybody need some Schadenfreude today? I've got some good stuff: [IMG]
    Feb 1, 2018 at 9:06 AM - daniel871: Here's another good one https://i.imgur.com/vapiqmt.gif
Feb 1, 2018 at 9:10 AM - WheresWaldo: Hey Dan, anything new 3D printing wise?
Feb 1, 2018 at 9:20 AM - mike litoris: [IMG] I have no idea why my R1 plus has been doing this lately
Feb 1, 2018 at 9:21 AM - mike litoris: I've tried everything I can think of, new spool, increasing heat, changing the nozzle
Feb 1, 2018 at 9:21 AM - mike litoris: calibrating using a piece of paper
Feb 1, 2018 at 9:51 AM - mike litoris: I am using mattercontrol still but I havent played with any settings outside of the temp. Im headed out a the moment but would love to hear any suggestions for my issue
    Feb 1, 2018 at 10:07 AM - daniel871: Suggestion #1 - Hairspray on the bed for adhesion.
    Feb 1, 2018 at 10:08 AM - daniel871: Suggestion #2 - Name change.
Feb 1, 2018 at 10:08 AM - daniel871: And #3 - Use something that isn't MatterControl because that software is hot fucking garbage.
Feb 1, 2018 at 10:08 AM - mike litoris: I've tried the hairspray on the bed, I almost always use adhesion on the bed
Feb 1, 2018 at 10:09 AM - mike litoris: ive noticed it stops printing even half way through a print, leaving stringy filament that isnt attached to anything
Feb 1, 2018 at 12:58 PM - daniel871: I'd suggest that the last name be changed to "hunt" so it's a bit less obvious.
    Feb 1, 2018 at 1:15 PM - WheresWaldo: Dan, don't encourage anyone.
Feb 1, 2018 at 3:37 PM - G Addison: what should i do if the z axis isnt able to press down on the end switch

Feb 2, 2018 at 6:51 AM - WheresWaldo: Geof, I am hoping that David Waldron (UK) didn't buy that printer thinking it was new or an R1+, it is definitely an R1 with threaded rods. The RAMPS board looks like it was replaced also and the previous owner might have had an LCD on it as the SD card accessory is not plugged in.
Feb 2, 2018 at 6:55 AM - Geof: yea I saw that. I dont know of many UK distributors of the R1 series machine so I'm guessing got used. I also dont see (but not great pictures) the standoffs for the bottom cover so likely a beta that someone somewhat modified.
Feb 2, 2018 at 6:56 AM - Geof: will take some doing to make right again.
Feb 2, 2018 at 7:37 AM - mark tomlinson: Not a beta with that bed unless someone did the bed conversion that Robo briefly sold.
Feb 2, 2018 at 7:38 AM - mark tomlinson: If it were a beta bed, wood would be involved (or in some cases just a huge chunk of poly)
Feb 2, 2018 at 7:40 AM - WheresWaldo: Did the beta have a cutout on the large plexy cross piece?
Feb 2, 2018 at 7:48 AM - mark tomlinson: No the original
Feb 2, 2018 at 7:48 AM - mark tomlinson: the bed upgrade also replaced that part though
Feb 2, 2018 at 7:56 AM - Geof: its to hard to keep user modified versions accurate lol. Almost need all the hardware details.
Feb 2, 2018 at 7:56 AM - Geof: I have beta equipment in the garage somewhere. Will have to dig it out and compare for curiosity
Feb 2, 2018 at 8:03 AM - mark tomlinson: in some ways they were all slightly different. I have two that started that way and worked on another one... all different.
Feb 2, 2018 at 8:31 AM - Geof: yea I've noticed between the 2 R1+, the R1 and the Beta there are some pretty huge differences in how small stuff is done lol
Feb 2, 2018 at 9:08 AM - Geof: Waldo, any weekend plans?
Feb 2, 2018 at 9:09 AM - WheresWaldo: Going to look for a commuter bicycle for me and my daughter, otherwise I might tune in to watch some of the Super Bowl, not a real big football fan.
Feb 2, 2018 at 9:11 AM - daniel871: I could care less about the actual game, but the commercials and halftime show are sometimes entertaining.
Feb 2, 2018 at 9:11 AM - Geof: very cool. Also not a sports fan, we dont watch. The lady has a friend with a birthday part tomorrow so doing that at night. Other than that I've got a R1 Beta rebuild going and a Printrbot Play build I need to finish.
Feb 2, 2018 at 9:11 AM - Geof: at some point finish the titan/v6 upgrade on my ditto pro, but thats meh lol.
Feb 2, 2018 at 9:12 AM - Geof: then there is a chinese delta that I toy with when bored and a UMO i need to either upgrade or put back to stock for nastalgia
Feb 2, 2018 at 9:12 AM - Geof: knowing me... I'll do none of those things :D
Feb 2, 2018 at 9:12 AM - WheresWaldo: I just finished up replacing the R2 extruder with the Titan, swapped it to my non-destructive mod.
Feb 2, 2018 at 9:13 AM - daniel871: I've got some mechanical endstops to replace the busted endstops on that toy delta, but I'm trying to decide how to configure Marlin so I can probe the bed after homing and generate a mesh relative to the Max Endstop locations.
Feb 2, 2018 at 9:14 AM - WheresWaldo: You just remined me, I need to replace the Z Max endstop on the R2.
Feb 2, 2018 at 9:15 AM - WheresWaldo: You would need some large ass home offsets if you home to max
Feb 2, 2018 at 9:15 AM - daniel871: My office cubicle neighbor at work has the cartesian Monoprice Mini V2 and he's printing model tanks and shit.
Feb 2, 2018 at 9:15 AM - daniel871: So now it's more of a "I need to have my printer running, too" thing.
Feb 2, 2018 at 9:16 AM - daniel871: The Z range is roughly 120mm from Max Home to the bed.
Feb 2, 2018 at 9:16 AM - daniel871: Just trying to figure out the homing procedure and how to make sure the firmware is configured properly for it.
Feb 2, 2018 at 9:16 AM - daniel871: Well, homing, probe mesh, save mesh, run actual programs workflow.
Feb 2, 2018 at 9:17 AM - WheresWaldo: Dan, I would create the mesh save it then change the home to Z max, then set home offset with M206
Feb 2, 2018 at 9:17 AM - WheresWaldo: Are you going to use MESH or UBL
Feb 2, 2018 at 9:18 AM - daniel871: Can't really use either since the Marlin firmware freaks out during compiling for a delta.
Feb 2, 2018 at 9:18 AM - WheresWaldo: Are there open issues?
Feb 2, 2018 at 9:20 AM - daniel871: There are a lot of open issues with deltas and auto-leveling but I haven't gone through them all to see if they match my specific issue yet.
Feb 2, 2018 at 9:22 AM - daniel871: The actual search function doesn't seem to filter things out very well, either.
Feb 2, 2018 at 9:22 AM - daniel871: The Anet A8 isn't a fucking delta, but there are a bunch of issues about it that come up when searching for issues having to do with deltas
Feb 2, 2018 at 9:22 AM - WheresWaldo: That is a GITHUB issue I believe
Feb 2, 2018 at 9:26 AM - mark tomlinson: Try repetier firmware. That is what I use on my delta
Feb 2, 2018 at 9:57 AM - daniel871: How difficult is that to calibrate/setup for a particular hardware setup?
Feb 2, 2018 at 9:59 AM - mark tomlinson: Not really different than Marlin honestly
Feb 2, 2018 at 10:00 AM - WheresWaldo: Repetier uses a config file kinda like Smoothie?
Feb 2, 2018 at 10:00 AM - mark tomlinson: It looks a lot like Marlin and uses a similar configuration.h
Feb 2, 2018 at 10:01 AM - WheresWaldo: Then is should be a simple matter to configure, provided the configuration file is well commented.
Feb 2, 2018 at 10:01 AM - mark tomlinson: Calibrating a delta on any of them I tried was a bit of a pain, but it is working fine for the past year and I haven't had to update it
Feb 2, 2018 at 10:03 AM - WheresWaldo: It looks like repetier is still uinder active development
Feb 2, 2018 at 10:06 AM - Geof: I think the 2 different brand deltas I have are both running repetier as well. Will have to verify that.

Feb 6, 2018 8:13 AM - Geof: Hey Waldo how goes it
Feb 6, 2018 8:23 AM - WheresWaldo: Not too bad, just trying to get all my Tax paperwork together. Doing a few test prints too, My failure rate is climbing again.
Feb 6, 2018 8:25 AM - WheresWaldo: Trying to figure out where I put the Robo replacement endstop.
Feb 6, 2018 8:25 AM - WheresWaldo: How about you?
Feb 6, 2018 8:30 AM - Geof: gotta do the taxes yet. Should probably get that done tonight. Then working on re arranging the home shop so I'm not tripping over machines. Any machines non functional are destined for the basement work shop until I get time and motivation to fix.
Feb 6, 2018 8:31 AM - Geof: the home shop is a literal disaster. Cant hardly walk through without knocking over stacks of spools lol.
Feb 6, 2018 8:35 AM - Geof: may have a used R2 coming my way from a friend. end game is to strip the gantry, go linear rail, duet board, e3D, possibly IDEX if I can squeeze it in.
Feb 6, 2018 8:55 AM - WheresWaldo: That is way more work than I am willing to do on an R2, and you know I like to tinker with it.
Feb 6, 2018 8:56 AM - WheresWaldo: Geof, have you ever stumbled across matte PETG, I am learning to hate the shine.
Feb 6, 2018 8:56 AM - daniel871: My taxes were done the day I got my W-2. But then, things are simple when you're single with no kids.
Feb 6, 2018 9:17 AM - Geof: single with no kids but procrastinate lol
    Feb 6, 2018 9:17 AM - Geof: Waldo, more of a funsies thing than anything. I seriously doubt anyone else would but when you get a frame why not lol;
Feb 6, 2018 9:17 AM - Geof: no matte petg that I know of, just pla

Feb 6, 2018 11:52 AM - Geof: I must just be cheap these days but man it doesn't seem like it should be 38 bucks lol
    Feb 6, 2018 11:56 AM - WheresWaldo: Yeah I just bought some PETG for $22 a Kg, $38 seems a bit steep.
Feb 6, 2018 12:02 PM - Geof: I am just cheap anymore. The amount of filament I go through makes people like protopasta and atomic not worth it.
Feb 6, 2018 12:03 PM - Geof: PP ends up being like 60 bucks a kg for pla...thats rediculous. I buy it for 10 per kg lol. PETG I dont really print with, stick with XT and the such.

Feb 7, 2018 at 6:36 AM - JeffTheMess: morning roboneers
Feb 7, 2018 at 6:36 AM - JeffTheMess: any of you guys have TL smoothers?
Feb 7, 2018 at 6:37 AM - Geof: Waldo has them. He likes them. I have them but see no difference.
Feb 7, 2018 at 6:37 AM - Geof: his are on the R2.
Feb 7, 2018 at 6:38 AM - JeffTheMess: my prints are getting shity was thinking of doing something about it
Feb 7, 2018 at 6:38 AM - WheresWaldo: Geof, that is because you are not pushing the R2 as fast as you can. and you are using the default firmware.
Feb 7, 2018 at 6:39 AM - Geof: default firmware yes. pushing it up to 85 mm/s.
Feb 7, 2018 at 6:39 AM - WheresWaldo: JTM, they work in my experience. large model faces are smoother, and the model does not degrade until you are over 85 mm/s print speeds.
Feb 7, 2018 at 6:40 AM - JeffTheMess: my prints are barely any good at 40 mm/s its embarrassing
Feb 7, 2018 at 6:41 AM - WheresWaldo: Try 85 mm/s without them on larger models, then with them. That is where you will see the difference. If it is a small model and lots of direction changes, I highly doubt you are actually printing at 85 mm/s considering the Jerk and acceleration settings in the firmware.
Feb 7, 2018 at 6:43 AM - WheresWaldo: They don't help everything, only that little wavy look you get on bigger model faces.
Feb 7, 2018 at 6:44 AM - WheresWaldo: It also quiets down the steepers marginally, but you shouldn't buy it for that reason, you will be disappointed.
Feb 7, 2018 at 6:45 AM - Geof: interesting. That would likely be why they are of no use on the R2 to me .
Feb 7, 2018 at 6:45 AM - Geof: Maybe I'll try them on the gmax where it does large "non complex" models so has large faces.
Feb 7, 2018 at 6:45 AM - Geof: all the smaller machines run complex geometries and the such where your right, it wont achieve that speed.
Feb 7, 2018 at 6:46 AM - JeffTheMess: I don't care too much about speed mostly quality and its shit right now, thought it might have helped
Feb 7, 2018 at 6:47 AM - JeffTheMess: once quality is good then ill worry about speed
Feb 7, 2018 at 6:47 AM - WheresWaldo: If you are using the R2 for detailed models the stepper smothers are probably a waste of time / money.
    Feb 7, 2018 at 6:47 AM - JeffTheMess: im still on R1
Feb 7, 2018 at 6:48 AM - WheresWaldo: JTM, that is likely all slicer profile or crappy filament or a combination of both.
Feb 7, 2018 at 6:48 AM - JeffTheMess: what pla you use? I use hatchbox
Feb 7, 2018 at 6:51 AM - Geof: agreed with Waldo. The smoothers arnt a tech in a bag. What slicer you using?
Feb 7, 2018 at 6:52 AM - Geof: I've used a ton of different brands including hatchbox on the R1 series, no issues. slicer settings or mechanical issue likely.
    Feb 7, 2018 at 6:52 AM - JeffTheMess: s3d
Feb 7, 2018 at 6:54 AM - Geof: somehwere in the forum both mark and I have posted our .fff try those and if its not improved it more than likely a mechanical issue. fire up a thread in troubleshooting with some pics
Feb 7, 2018 at 6:55 AM - JeffTheMess: i'll go hunting for them
Feb 7, 2018 at 6:57 AM - JeffTheMess: unless you have it handy somewhere
Feb 7, 2018 at 7:10 AM - JeffTheMess: found a bunch will try them
Feb 7, 2018 at 7:42 AM - Geof: good deal, sorry in and out today. PM me if you need them can export and send.
Feb 7, 2018 at 7:55 AM - JeffTheMess: cool, thanks!

Feb 10, 2018 7:22 AM - WheresWaldo: So Geof, how is the new firmware coming?
Feb 10, 2018 7:32 AM - WheresWaldo: So the update not only flashed RoboLCD but also new Marlin firmware, without warning?
Feb 10, 2018 7:33 AM - WheresWaldo: Now I am pissed, I have to redo my UBL mesh, especially since they f'ed up the EEPROM versioning.
    Feb 10, 2018 7:35 AM - Geof: Hey Waldo,
Feb 10, 2018 7:36 AM - Geof: Haven't gotten the time to have it fail again (because it will) and they haven't sent a fix lol
Feb 10, 2018 7:42 AM - WheresWaldo: I found a huge bug, but they fixed it in a new branch called RC-Bugfix.
Feb 10, 2018 7:55 AM - WheresWaldo: I also don't understand why a mechanical number like 80 steps per unit of movement has to be changed to 80.0395 to correct for underextrusion.
Feb 10, 2018 8:08 AM - WheresWaldo: I also forgot about the stupid 15° skew of the camera.
Feb 10, 2018 8:19 AM - OutsourcedGuru: @WheresWaldo (I created a bug in their system on the camera skew, for what it's worth.)
Feb 10, 2018 11:01 AM - WheresWaldo: Its a hardware issue, the plastic mount is skewed 15° so they used a transform to correct it in the webcam view, timelapses are still 15° skewed.
    Feb 10, 2018 11:06 AM - Geof: Hey Waldo
    Feb 10, 2018 11:13 AM - WheresWaldo: Hmmm, that's all I can say.
Feb 10, 2018 11:15 AM - WheresWaldo: Sent you and Mark a PM
    Feb 10, 2018 11:16 AM - Geof: Lmao :)
Feb 10, 2018 11:17 AM - Geof: Hows the weekend ? Any cool projects happenin
Feb 10, 2018 11:20 AM - WheresWaldo: I am redoing my UBL mesh, playing Far Cry, watching some Olympics and generally irritating my wife in the process, so a typical boring rainy weekend.
Feb 10, 2018 11:22 AM - Geof: Lol !!!! Im in the home shop repairing machines, finishing up a production run and reinstalling that firmware they sent
    Feb 10, 2018 11:23 AM - Geof: Oh and laughing hysterically ;)
Feb 10, 2018 11:27 AM - WheresWaldo: I have given up on their firmware already, I did question the addition of G35, I asked Allen to justify what it actually does and why its needed.
    Feb 10, 2018 11:27 AM - Geof: G36 ?
Feb 10, 2018 11:33 AM - Geof: so round 2 on firmware is a hard fail. emailed the logs but basically the heating system is now somehow affected but reverting firmware fixes it lmao
Feb 10, 2018 11:38 AM - WheresWaldo: G35 is the Ambient Light thing, G36 is the Home/Level combo, also a stupid idea.
Feb 10, 2018 11:42 AM - Geof: Tried the g36 but made wierdness happen so reverted back.
Feb 10, 2018 11:46 AM - WheresWaldo: I am glad I used a spare µSD card for this test, still pissed I had no choice on the Firmware flash,
Feb 10, 2018 11:50 AM - Geof: Yep fighting getting my c2 back online now lol......weak
Feb 10, 2018 12:02 PM - WheresWaldo: Retuning UBL MESH is a pain in the ass, glad I only need to do it once. I am going to write down the mesh values for more stupidity like this firmware upgrade.
Feb 10, 2018 12:03 PM - Geof: Indeed. Probably a good idea. Seems these files are severely untested
Feb 10, 2018 12:06 PM - WheresWaldo: So my thoughts on testing, Never let a programmer test his own code, because they never make mistakes.
Feb 10, 2018 12:07 PM - WheresWaldo: Never let paid employees test after alpha stages, because someone they have to report bugs to, signs their paychecks.
Feb 10, 2018 12:07 PM - WheresWaldo: Programmers are never the end user of their code and very few of them understand that concept.
    Feb 10, 2018 12:09 PM - Geof: Indeed. I spose that's what we're here for
Feb 10, 2018 6:30 PM - WheresWaldo: Geof, I had to stop pestering my wife, she has the flu now.
Feb 10, 2018 6:31 PM - WheresWaldo: So I am trying to see if I can push the R2 even faster.
Feb 10, 2018 7:22 PM - Geof: Ah yea can't pester a sick wife, how did the speed increase go ?

Feb 11, 2018 at 5:16 AM - daniel871: Haha yeah, "Hey, sorry you're sick, I'm gonna go play with my 3d printer. Call me if you're dying."
Feb 11, 2018 at 5:24 AM - Geof: Lol daniel gets it :)
Feb 11, 2018 at 6:33 AM - WheresWaldo: All I have done so far is increase speeds to the current beta firmware levels. I got too tired and bored to redo my UBL mesh, so all I did was put a new sheet of PEI on the V2 converted bed I have, then played games to get out of her way.
Feb 11, 2018 at 6:43 AM - Geof: That's what I do... Stay out of the way lol
Feb 11, 2018 at 12:36 PM - Geof: Daniel, any update on the mini delta ?
Feb 11, 2018 at 12:55 PM - daniel871: Nope. I mean, I have mechanical endstops at the Max position but I'm trying to figure out how to work out a probe for the bed/trigger system for the plate similar to the one that was stock.
Feb 11, 2018 at 12:57 PM - daniel871: The stock configuration had sensors at the three spring-loaded posts the bed rested on that would trigger when the nozzle touched the build plate. The effector on the machine right now doesn't really have room for probe mounting due to the range of motion on the arms as the effector gets out to the outer diameter of the build plate.
Feb 11, 2018 at 12:58 PM - Geof: Ah gotya. that sucks. They won't replace the machine ?
Feb 11, 2018 at 1:00 PM - daniel871: I have yet to hear back from whoever does the RMAs for them after the email where I sent them pics of the packing list and the backer number from the Indiegogo campaign.
Feb 11, 2018 at 1:00 PM - daniel871: Also I fucked the warranty pretty hard when I started swapping hardware trying to frankenstein it into functioning again.
Feb 11, 2018 at 1:01 PM - Geof: Ah gotya. That sucks man.
Feb 11, 2018 at 1:02 PM - Geof: The neva from dagoma has odd "sensors" like what ur describing ? Maybe hit them up?

Feb 12, 2018 at 6:02 AM - Geof: Waldo whats shakin
Feb 12, 2018 at 6:19 AM - WheresWaldo: Still trying to get my bed leveled, fighting with an AliExpress vendor, and generally causing mayhem. I am kinda like the Allstate commercials.
    Feb 12, 2018 at 6:20 AM - WheresWaldo: What's up with you?
Feb 12, 2018 at 6:50 AM - Geof: same ole same man. Modeling, printing, repairing down equipment lol.
Feb 12, 2018 at 6:50 AM - Geof: Finally have the stacker working in my favor so thats nice.
Feb 12, 2018 at 7:06 AM - daniel871: Did anybody ever get one of those belt printers to play with?
Feb 12, 2018 at 7:06 AM - daniel871: Either the Printrbot one or the much more expensive one?
Feb 12, 2018 at 7:07 AM - Geof: not I. To much cash for the quality I saw coming off the. I run over 30 machines by myself lol.
Feb 12, 2018 at 7:07 AM - Geof: not seeing that belt printer being more productive :D
Feb 12, 2018 at 7:15 AM - daniel871: The only benefit I see to it is the "print removal, keep printing parts" aspect if you're wanting to print a shitload of parts for whatever reason (and 99% of print issues would probably come down to slicer settings anyway).
Feb 12, 2018 at 7:16 AM - daniel871: The order-of-magnitude-more-expensive machine would work well, but yeah I wasn't impressed at all with Printrbot's imitation of it.
Feb 12, 2018 at 7:17 AM - daniel871: Probably wouldn't be too hard to reprap up an open source project that does the same functional thing, but sourcing the material for the belt might be a problem. I mean, it's mostly 80/20 construction with linear rails and belts, but the build plate/belt might be the hardest/most expensive part to source.
Feb 12, 2018 at 7:18 AM - Geof: yep. The moving belt Y isn't new or innovative. They angled the gantry because of makerbots patent on the square guantry/y belt
Feb 12, 2018 at 7:18 AM - Geof: (from the thingomatic)
Feb 12, 2018 at 7:19 AM - Geof: the reason the prints are ugly is because everything is printed "skewed" so there are seriously visable layer lines at 45 degrees (or whatever the skew actually is) that is deemed unacceptable by most my clients.
Feb 12, 2018 at 7:20 AM - Geof: when the patents up and there are more square build belt systems I'll be interested but having to warp the part for slicing is....not something I'd want to deal with. Takes under 5 minutes to clear a whole bed of parts :D
Feb 12, 2018 at 7:20 AM - Geof: last I heard he was (printrbot) going to release all the build files for his belt system.
Feb 12, 2018 at 7:21 AM - Geof: not sure that helps a whole lot without the "cloud" to angle everything in the slicing process (Polar does that for them)
Feb 12, 2018 at 11:41 AM - daniel871: If it was possible to make positioning accurate enough on the conveyor, you could just treat it as your Y-axis and it would just be a modification of the I3-design.
Feb 12, 2018 at 11:42 AM - daniel871: Then just have a sensor that would sense the "seam" in the conveyor (assuming a straight seam vs. the usual diagonal seam) and call that 0 on the Y-axis.
Feb 12, 2018 at 11:42 AM - daniel871: End a print, have the conveyor do a full revolution and re-set, then print the next part.
Feb 12, 2018 at 11:43 AM - daniel871: Probably actually wouldn't be all that different from when someone takes an old treadmill and turns it into a shitty CNC mill.
Feb 12, 2018 at 11:48 AM - Geof: I'd imagine if you can figure out the steps you can just have an end script to rotate the bed at the end of the print far enough away to get the print off. Have thought about doing it on the R1 beta I've got.
Feb 12, 2018 at 11:48 AM - Geof: just havent quite figured out the "why would I do this" lol.
Feb 12, 2018 at 2:03 PM - WheresWaldo: Hey Geof, I tried something on my R2 bed based on something Josef Prusa suggfested about PETG and PEI.
    Feb 12, 2018 at 2:04 PM - Geof: What's that buddy
Feb 12, 2018 at 2:05 PM - WheresWaldo: He says use a glass cleaner only for PETG, and wipe but don't remove it completely,. Apparently glass cleaner has some anti-static chemicals it leaves behind.
Feb 12, 2018 at 2:05 PM - WheresWaldo: I have been trying that all morning with my test paterns while fine tuning the bed level.
Feb 12, 2018 at 2:06 PM - Geof: Interesting, on buildtak I use windex. Should try some petg on it
    Feb 12, 2018 at 2:06 PM - Geof: seeing any benefit ?
Feb 12, 2018 at 2:06 PM - WheresWaldo: It lets the parts pop right off whe the bed cools, easier to remove that having nothing on the PEI.
Feb 12, 2018 at 2:07 PM - WheresWaldo: I used to clean with denatured alcohol
Feb 12, 2018 at 2:07 PM - Geof: Wow ! Wouldn't have thought that ! Thanks for the heads up! Will give it a shot on my mk2
Feb 12, 2018 at 2:07 PM - WheresWaldo: I tried hairspray, both make the PETG stick a bit too well.
Feb 12, 2018 at 2:08 PM - WheresWaldo: Who knew Josef Prusa was so smart! lol.
Feb 12, 2018 at 2:08 PM - Geof: I use glue stick most time windex will be ,uncheck easier
Feb 12, 2018 at 2:08 PM - Geof: Much not uncheck
Feb 12, 2018 at 2:12 PM - Geof: Thinkin bout adding pei to the type a until it sells, will be a serious improvement on that big ole bed vs prying parts off. I assume will work with xt as well
Feb 12, 2018 at 2:22 PM - WheresWaldo: Isn't XT just PET with a different modifier, like PET-T
    Feb 12, 2018 at 3:01 PM - Geof: I think so
Feb 12, 2018 at 3:02 PM - Geof: Just another copolymer variation

Feb 13, 2018 5:23 AM - daniel871: Welp, welding class got interesting last night. Someone didn't properly shut off one of the oxyacetylene stations and a minor explosion went off while I was sweeping up the random shit that builds up on the floor where I was working near the end of class.
Feb 13, 2018 5:24 AM - daniel871: I was near enough to it to get lightly singed by the heat bloom.
Feb 13, 2018 5:28 AM - daniel871: Nobody actually got hurt, but the instructor was really upset about it.
Feb 13, 2018 5:33 AM - Geof: holy cow! Thats scary! Glad your alright!
Feb 13, 2018 5:33 AM - Geof: bet tonights class is on shutting off the tanks :D
Feb 13, 2018 5:33 AM - Geof: its not funny, just lightening the mood
    Feb 13, 2018 5:34 AM - daniel871: It's a one-night-a-week class.
    Feb 13, 2018 5:34 AM - daniel871: But yeah.
Feb 13, 2018 5:35 AM - daniel871: I was fine with it because I knew somebody was going to fuck up (bunch of teenagers in the class) but at least it wasn't somebody dragging a torch across somebody horseplaying.
Feb 13, 2018 5:37 AM - daniel871: "Minor explosion" in this case was a loud, rapid fireball that generated a lot of heat, but wasn't sustained.
Feb 13, 2018 5:38 AM - Geof: Man thats just...speachless ya know lol. I've been using a torch and welders since before I was 10
Feb 13, 2018 5:38 AM - Geof: safety was the first thing gone over and checked on at the end of each day lol.
Feb 13, 2018 5:39 AM - daniel871: I used to know all of this shit back in high school when I took the metal working electives but I guess you really can forget everything you learned about something if you go 15 years without ever using it again.
Feb 13, 2018 5:51 AM - Geof: lol man I use it all the time and still forget stuff (and thats within a few days). Always good to practice.
    Feb 13, 2018 6:05 AM - Geof: Morning Waldo
    Feb 13, 2018 6:05 AM - Geof: Morning Mark :D
    Feb 13, 2018 6:11 AM - WheresWaldo: Hey Geof & Mark
Feb 13, 2018 6:12 AM - WheresWaldo: If people spent as much time doing their real jobs as they do in writing up posts the world would be a better place.
    Feb 13, 2018 6:14 AM - Geof: indeed my friend :D
Feb 13, 2018 6:14 AM - Geof: any plans for today?
Feb 13, 2018 6:29 AM - WheresWaldo: Yep, Going to replace my shifter on my commuter bicycle. Amazon should be delivering it today. If it is sunny I might go for a ride this afternoon.
Feb 13, 2018 6:29 AM - WheresWaldo: How about you?
Feb 13, 2018 6:29 AM - Geof: stayin out of the cold until tonight. Goin shopping for a truck
Feb 13, 2018 6:30 AM - Geof: got 15 lbs of filament showing up today lol. That should be fun.
Feb 13, 2018 6:31 AM - Geof: a bunch of half spools that someone clearanced out (cant remember who) bought all they had lol.
Feb 13, 2018 6:33 AM - Geof: honestly had forgotten about it until I got fedex delivery notice in the email today lol
Feb 13, 2018 6:35 AM - WheresWaldo: I have to buy a new coupe/sedan this sumer. My old Sentra will no longer pass state inspection. My wife has her car, I rely on my commuter bicycle, but that means in the winter I am stuck at home all day. I think we are an exception family with 3 drivers and only 2 cars.
Feb 13, 2018 6:38 AM - Geof: we are the same. 2 drivers, 1 car. Changing that hopefully this month if I find something I like.
Feb 13, 2018 6:38 AM - JeffTheMess: our very own Mike Kelly on 3dpn
Feb 13, 2018 6:38 AM - Geof: I had a Saturn that finally died last year (not worth fixing anymore)
    Feb 13, 2018 6:38 AM - JeffTheMess: morning roboneers
Feb 13, 2018 6:39 AM - Geof: Morning Jeff. I saw MK at TCT last year. he's super fun to talk with.
    Feb 13, 2018 6:43 AM - JeffTheMess: sweet
Feb 13, 2018 12:26 PM - daniel871: PrintedSolid is taking $75 off of the CR-10S with code "CR10sale" if anyone wants to get one.

Feb 16, 2018 5:53 AM - Geof: Hey Waldo, hangin in there. Printin tap handles lol
Feb 16, 2018 5:54 AM - Geof: beer on the mind before 8 am but can call it work lol
Feb 16, 2018 5:56 AM - WheresWaldo: I used to drink all kinds of beer when I was younger, mostly prefered Ale's but now I am satisfied with one beer or two in an entire year.
Feb 16, 2018 5:57 AM - Geof: these are for a local brewery start up. more like the microbrew style beers I think
Feb 16, 2018 6:10 AM - WheresWaldo: Living most of my younger life in Oregon, they are overloaded with microbreweries. It's a holdover from the hippie culture. There are still quite a few of them around. One of my favorites was Black Butte Porter made in Bend, OR.
Feb 16, 2018 6:16 AM - Geof: seems to be growing in favor here in Bloomington. IDK why, I dont really care for the stuff. Budlight or budwiser is fine with me lol.
Feb 16, 2018 6:16 AM - Geof: but I think there are now 4 or 5 brews here in town.
    Feb 16, 2018 6:35 AM - WheresWaldo: Quit being a crybaby
    Feb 16, 2018 6:36 AM - WheresWaldo: ;)
    Feb 16, 2018 6:55 AM - Geof: lol ! No promises
Feb 16, 2018 6:56 AM - WheresWaldo: I only looked at the pictures, what is going on with Igal's R2?
