    Thanks Mark,
That is where I got the files to upload. I just uploaded the correct version as you suggested. Thanks for the clarification. I didn't know that had Beta Version. I thought the Beta was a software version and not a physical prototype. Good info.

They had very confusing product names and they differed in very confusing ways :)

Fantastic! Thanks for that breakdown. I wasn't sure the difference between the 5\16 and the 8mm. It is apparent, based on your breakdown that I have the 8mm R1 (square head, not hexagon). Thanks. Good, good stuff.

That will likely be in the future. LOL

Right now my focus is just getting this printing again. I'd love to play around with code someday, though. So, thanks for the tips.

Thanks Mark. I just uploaded the ROBO3DRV1V3_06112015 using Arduino. I'm with you that this is likely the correct version.

Ok guys. I finally got a chance to snap some pictures. Here are the print head shots.

Sorry for the dirty fingernails.... :) Like I said, been working in the yard all day.

And here are the wiring photos with the new R1+ bed instead of the original R1.

PS. That's the original Arduino and RAMPS board. Not the new one that I ordered.

That looks a lot like the older style R1 where there was no set screw to hold the thermistor in. If there is one you will see if from the bottom with the black rubber boot off. Loosen that and the thermistor can come out. if it does NOT have the set screw... then it is just well gummed up in there by old cast-off filament.

at least that is an original RAMPS 1.4 -- no the customized one :)

    Hi Mark,
Here is a picture of the head after I finally figured out how to get it off. I see no locking screws and it won't just pull out. Is there a way to get the thermistor out? Do I need to drill it out? Or replace the whole head?

Well, about the best you can do there (if there is NO set screw) is to heat it up to ABS temps (245-ish) and try to work it out/tug it out.
If it is the non-canister thermistor it should come out without a lot of encouragement (and if it is the canister style then there is a set screw -- on the bottom under the black boot)

Despite the appearance the R1 series is really not a complicated machine so I can sure we can get him to the answer.

Ok, folks. Need some more advice. I tried this morning to heat the extruder as Mark suggested, but it won't heat up.
    • I'm still getting the 0/0 readings across the board for both temp and presets
    • I'm still getting Err: MAXTEMP BOARD......... And it isn't even hooked up!!!!! (Arrghh)
    • When I try to warm the extruder to get the silly little thermistor to come out, nothing warms
(even though the fan kicks in, nothing happens. See picture)
Any ideas, or suggestions, on what to try next?

Thanks guys for all your help. Sorry if I seem pestering... pestery..... pesterly.... ?????? :)
I am a complete (COMPLETE) noob to all this stuff.

Take a digital multimeter and read the resistance from the wiring that connects the thermistors to the RAMPS board back to the thermistor. Disconnect them and read the resistance back. Both of them should read in the ball park of 100kohm. If not then trace the wiring back to find the problem. If they DO both read 100k then either you plugged them into the wrong place or the RAMPS board is faulty.

It is easier to plug them in wrong than a casual observer would imagine :)
    Been there, done that.

Thanks. I'll track them again. Danzca posted a great reference video. I'll follow that again to double check. I don't have a meter, but am going to order one on Amazon.
