    Mark,
    Don't see the M565 code
I can tell you the printer does go through the auto level sequence before printing. I just thought there was a command in MatterControl that you could run the auto level sequence.
    G28 X0 Y0 Z0 ; home all axes
    G1 Z5 F5000 ; lift nozzle
M109 S[temperature] ; set the extruder temp and wait
G28 X0 Y0 Z0 ; Home Z again in case there was filament on nozzle
    G29 ; probe the bed

The printer appears to print fine now. Do I also need to edit the code because I am using a thermistor instead of the stud thermistor?

No. I thought you meant it was no longer doing the autolevel dance. If it is you are fine.

If your using an e3d thermistor yes you will need to update the firmware so the temp reading is accurate.

Just to make sure I am doing this right, this is done in the configuration.h code area , saved then uploaded to the board.

Thanks again for all the help.

Because I printed a new quick release spacer I didn't need to change any of those settings. I will say I did have to modify the spacer Matthew at printedsolid.com sent me because it was too thin and the head wobbled even after the PTFE tape.

Now that I have clogged my Hexagon four times in the last week or two, I've had it. I REALLY want to either upgrade this damn hot end or just say the hell with it and buy a BigBox. I hate the idea of spending $1800 usd when I can upgrade my R1+ for a fraction. I'm just not sure which option to take with this upgrade, as follows:

    1. Take my chances and drill out my current extruder.
    2. Print the one that is on Thingiverse that already has the countersink.
    3. Get a Titan and E3D v6 and go that route.
    4. Buy a BigBox.
    5. Wait for the R2, which will probably still use the Hexagon.

Other R1+ owners - are you happy with the upgrade?

    1. Do you mean the carriage? It's easy and what I did
    2. Printed one as a spare(could do the reverse )
    3. I don't have one but looks interesting to reduce the mass
4.e3d makes nice parts, I'd imagine it's a good printer but not the route I'd go
5.i don't think the r2 will be around anytime soon

I enjoy my e3dv6, reliable works well if assembled right, buy the real deal :)

On #2, did you test that one at all? If so, did you use the quick-release plate or has it been positively determined that it's not applicable? Just curious.

I don't think I printed that one, didn't test as the measurements checked out after printing , I use the quick release plate on thingiverse for the e3d

I just re-read this entire thread beginning to end. Thanks to all who contributed. I'm staring at my shiny new E3D v6 sitting on my desk. But just when you thought I'd grew enough of a pair to install it, I threw a wrench into the gears and ordered a Titan extruder too! Now I can read all three threads and piece them all together!!!

Well just about the time I think I'm good to go after the V6 upgrade I have a new problem. I don't know how to send an M999 to restart printer but I have unplugged it from everything waited a while and started again. At first the machine stopped after the auto-level dance then after a start it stopped about 10% into a job. Any ideas would be greatly appreciated.

You will need to read the console log (all of it) to find the actual error.
My bet would be on : "TEMPERATURE FELL TOO MUCH DURING PRINT" but you need to read the log and confirm since anther error would have completely different actions.

The one you posted the screenshot of is simply the loop Marlin goes into after any error occurs. It only means an error DID occur and doesn't help you by telling you what error. You have to read the log.

Hi jeff. In your slicer there is a communication log. We will need you to find the first error. You will most likely have to select all copy and paste to.a notepad to be able to go back to see it.

One thing to check is to make sure the fan on the bottom of your printer is running.
