Sure, that sounds right. The alternative is the bowden version (if memory serves) and I assume you are sticking with the current extruder mechanism you have (the Gregs Wade--which is direct).

    They're kinda like Schrodinger's cat.

They exist in a superposition of two states, and the state of existing or not is dependent on if obvserved.

The only difference between bowden is universal is that the bowden comes with a longer tube and a coupling

I agree. Buy from the supplier that makes sense. Paying extra shipping $$ doesn't help anyone.
Google might help you find an E3D reseller in Australia. I've heard someone was going to start carrying them, but don't remember who it was.

Yeah I view RoBo3D tech support as "They'll send you a spare, eventually"

but it's best to have one on reserve.

I hope you can find a 12v lightbulb or a multimeter soon

no light is bad yes. If you can't get it to light, when you tell the extruder to heat, then we need a multimeter to go a step further.

I think it's getting to the point where i'm confident in saying somethings wrong with your ramps

Swapping the RAMPS board is more mechanical than electronic. Just remember and re-land all of the wires back in the correct spots :)
(number them when you disconnect and make a note of where you disconnected it from--you'll be fine)
Not a huge headache, but a pain to need to do.
