Has anyone tried printing this?
I don't quite understand how to install it from the pictures.
I havn't been able to get ninja flex to work on my robo. I have it bored out with PTFE going up to the hobbled bolt. I guess I need the PTFE to go past the hobbled bolt and cut a slot? Will it cause problems having the bearing pressing into the PTFE on one side rather than the filament?
No. That is how I originally did the PTFE tube mod.
I never considered it would work without going above the hobb.
Others have had luck with that approach. I just run it up past with a notch.
Bear in mind you need to slow the heck down on print speeds as well.
NinjaFlexx <20 and SemiFlex <40
work for me. You may want to experiment a bit.
Ok thanks i'll try that on my robo3d. Do normal PLA/PETG still print fine with the PTFE going up past the hobbled bolt with a notch?
on my replicator 2. I was able to print at normal speeds with ninja flex for awhile but it wont feed anymore either so printing a new part out for it on my robo3d now.
I got some flexible filament (not ninja flex, but Ecelvan).
I had the same "coiling" feeder issue so I got these bic pens and used the tube (cleaned out) to feed at 10-20mm/s at 210 temp . Ill attatch a drawing with dimensions if someone wants to know exactly where the cut wants to be ...(and also because I'm a nerd who likes to document)... Now it feeds great!
The problem Im having is that small layers (5mm cube/ top of calibration pyramid) deform and melt. See image. Now I've seen the visual guide on simplify3d and tried all their solutions:
-lowering temp (220-210-190 etc)
- speed (10 - 20)
- fan (100%)
Anyone have some settings to not get the issue that Im having? Let me know! Happy printing
All you can do is set a minimum layer print time to help it have time to cool.
The really soft filaments are really bad at that.
I haven't tried any of the flexible filaments yet, gun shy especially seeing all the issues people have and solve for the most part. This new filament looks very promising and I might just jump on the flex bandwagon after it is released.
I have some cheetah. Have not tested it yet, but initial thought is that it feels even stiffer than semi! Now, the spool is unlabeled and not the right diameter I was supposed to get, so it might be that someone sent me something different entirely. Will update if that is the case. If anyone else uses 2.85mm, I can share the love.
The issues in those pictures are caused by heat dwell. You need to get the nozzle off the print for it to cool enough. Slowing doesn't really help because the area is so small, it's essentially always in contact with the print. Try printing multiple pieces at once or use the cool head lift setting.
What is a tube/extruder mod? I have not had any success with Ninja flex. It gets caught up in the Extruder.

And as has also been said... print slow (really slow) with Flexible filaments. Otherwise you get a snarl
I like SemiFlex a lot better than NinjaFlex since it still ends up pretty darn flexible and not as 'floppy' soft-rubbery like the full-on NinjaFlex. It is also a little easier to print.
If you need to be able to fold the model in half, then NinjaFlex and if you just want to have it softer and flexible then SemiFlex.
Just to check, do I need the fan to be on with NinjaFlex?

Do you think this will work? I tried to dremel out a slit, but that wasn't working. Exacto knife did this.
I can't test it yet because of other problems..unrelated .
Should work. If anything you might need to widen it a slight be more, but I would try that first.
With the screws pressing that up against the hobb it should work.

I still havn't printed Ninja Flex on my Robo, I cut that tube out last week but was having other issues so I decided to do more mods unrelated. On a side note I finally printed something in Ninja flex..even though not on my robo but that is coming SOON.
I printed this 8bit nintendo drink coaster in Ninja Flex. Originally i printed in ABS and PLA..and that did not work well for drink coasters..for one thing it slid on the table..which could have been fixed with some stick on silicon feet or something, but the drinks also slid on top of them like crazy.. This ninja flex version ( while not a perfect print ).. Works REALLY good for a drink coaster!
Hopefully by the end of the week I will have some pictures of my robo printing these..and I also have some Esun eFlex to print on it as well.
@KTMDirtFace something like that would be a perfect candidate for semiflex, a bit firmer than ninjaflex but still a TPU filament.
That is a good design for working with any type of flexible filament. It is flat
That alone means that most any of the flexible ones would be easier to use. You can't get too complex with the flexy stuff, although the SemiFlex lets you do more complex things than NinjaFlexx -- for sure. I love SemiFlex. If I need to print an O-Ring or a gasket I'll use NinjaFlex, otherwise SemiFlex.
