I'm still having trouble. I can set the offset to something ridiculous like 10 and it doesnt matter at all still, looks like it still goes back to trying to start the print at 0.3 instead of the offset + 0.3

If i turn off auto leveling and just set the Z offset I can at least print again

I had the same issue when I first installed the auto level kit. Seems to me that any offset you put before you run G29 gets canceled out. You have to run the G29 command, raise the hot end, then reset the Z axis zero. At least that's how I got mine working. I use Repetier and Slic3r and this is what I have as my start code:

    ; Start G-code
    M84 S0 ; Disable motor timeout
M190 S[first_layer_bed_temperature] ; Set the bed temp and wait for it to heat up
    G28 ; Home all axes
M109 S[first_layer_temperature] ; Set the extruder temp and wait for it to heat up
G28 Z0 ; Home Z again in case there was filament on nozzle
    G29 ; Autocalibrate bed
    G1 Z0.8 ; Adjust Z offset
    G92 Z0 ; Define new Z home
    ;-----

    Thank you. Thank you.
It worked the first time I tried it and the auto level works.

Yay it worked. Auto level works though i need to tweak my mounts a bit. Now that it is working that is much easier to do

Thank you!!! This is also the perfect setup for the Simlify 3D custom settings! I had also the problem that the nozzle scratch over the glas bed after auto levelling - now autolevel works perfect and repeatable - the first layer alway perfefct!

My prints look brilliant now (PLA) - Nylon, etc. to GO.

    Best regards,

    Matthias

That looks right, though you might ask them if it fit a 13mm wrench

i want to screw it from the top down, is this wrong ?
the first few millimeter are a little bite smaller than the rest.
i can screw it 4-6 mm down but not more.

Sorry I didn't understand your previous question entirely.

All printers prior to ~August of this year have 5/16"-18 rods. You need a 5/16"-18 Rod Coupling Nut

Anyone know where to get the right sized couplings ? The ones at Ace are too small as well as the ones on amazon. They do not fit a 13mm wrench.

    any links to sources ?

Marcus, it would probably be easier to find M8 rods and cut them to length, than it would be to find 5/16"-18 parts in europe.

M8 rods use 2560 steps per mm. Robos shipped at late august have M8 rods.

5/16 is something like 2267.something, which means you don't get an even step per layer height so you should be using off layer heights anyways.

Just try and buy a straight stick of M8 rod at 1m. Cut it down to around 305mm to no more than 355mm.
