@Ziggy - do you like the DRV8825 over the A4988. I'm thinking about swapping.

I'm intrigued on using either the LCD controller or Simplify to adjust on the fly. I don't have a controller but this feature alone would be worth it. I have Simplify3D so I don't need the controller, but doesn't Simplify jog only go as low as 10th of a mm? Is that fine enough to get a good offset? When I have to tweak the gcode to get a good layer, it usually takes in the hundredths to get it right.

Okay so I read the pdf & asked google. I did a search too here. I think I am not looking deep enough? So as a total newbie to these, so how do I exactly enable all these?

I got my LCD hooked up to my Robo? And?

I hope its not much to ask from a newbie like me but anyone can walk me through on how to do just that?

Instructions for downloading and flashing the firmware are here:

    http://guide.robo3d.com/Wiki/ROBO_3D_Firmware_Release_Notes

As for editing the firmware we will need to know exactly what it is you want to edit. 95% or more of any changes you are likely to do are going to be to the CONFIGURATION.H file. It is pretty easy to read through and figure out what to change, but if you tell us exactly what you are trying to change we can help. Please be specific.

I can't intuit it from this thread because (like so many others) it has gotten cluttered. People who have been reading it from the start are probably up-to-speed, but that doesn't help new folks and it can be a lot to learn.

Thanks for the reply. I guess things like those are not meant for people like me. I'll just let my firmware like it is then.

    It is not really complicated.
Although to the novice it might seem that way.

Like I said if you tell me exactly what you are trying to change I can walk you through the edits and then the instructions for compiling and loading are on that linked page. That part you need to learn anyway because (I can assure you) eventually you will need to make a firmware edit :)

    2 questions:
    1) if the multiplier is set to 2, does the step count on the screen need multiplied by 2, or does it just move and count 2 steps per click?
    2) I did the SainSmart leadscrew upgrade, so my steps/mm is 400. Would it be 0.003125mm (32 step/0.1mm?)

    A1. yes
A2. It's too early to do this math but I think you are correct.

Yes as in needs multiplied? Or yes as in it does the math for me.

I.e. If A2 is Yes, then of I move it to where the screen says +0032, have I moved the nozzle up 0.1MM or 0.2MM? (Or 0.05MM?)

And I agree, too early and not enough coffee...

    Sorry two steps per click.
I still don't want to do the math on the 2nd question, up to my eyeballs in RC7 at the moment.

Thank you. I will play around with it, I might have a set of feeler gauges floating around here somewhere.

Good luck with RC7 and thank you for your hard work!

Is this the only version of this? I would like to try this but I see this is really old. I'm using Robo3dR1V2_M8_E3D. Also, i was looking through the forum for something that would help me not have to have have different z offsets files for 2 different printers. One has to have .gcodes at .9 and one at .8 ( for some reason the .8 just changed on me) Now I have alot of files to change...lol

With that firmware you can issue an M565 from a terminal screen

    M565 Zn.nn

Where n.nn is the amount you need

Then M500 to save it to EEPROM. Do this for each printer.

So then save my gcode with no z offset?

Ok. I’m really new at the firmware stuff so I’m not sure what your 1 reply means. Lol. I know it’s what I want my setups to do though haha

Terminal screen I think you mean like in Simplify3D. I don’t know how to save it though.

I could be wrong about all that though. I’m sorry if I’m completely lost.
