I would print out a filament guide that smoothly let's the filament down the hole in the top.

Care to elaborate? On those risers the only critical parts will be the angled part and the face that's perpendicular to it. I will have the 2 dowel holes reamed out to .251 and the center hole is just for a 1/4-20 bolt.

Oh gotcha! this was the one i was looking at but don't want to spend all the time printing it.

I'll might print that one instead although i haven't messed with support material at all yet.

Don't bother with supports till you get simplify.

Also make sure you print a PLA oiler first thing and use it so you won't have issues later

Interesting, first time reading about a PLA oiler. I take it i won't need it for PETG? i think that will be my go to if i can tune in my printing with it. I tried setting up CURA to try but all my models come in really small and i didn't figure out how to scale them. They come in small in mattercontrol but i can change it to inches instead of mm. I'm guessing when i save my STL files at work i need to save them in metric or something.

Yeah most of these softwares use metric so that would be a good idea. The oiler is to make sure you don't clog your nozzle. I use the oiler when I print with PETG as well. To scale in cura select click the item then on the bottom left you will see 3 boxes one of them says scale.

It says my Z offset is set at 1mm, should i try to lower it? Still cant get CURA to scale at all.

Need to see pictures of the first layer to truly tell. Some where on the forum there is a link to a zoffset calibration technique

The oiler will not hurt no matter what filament you use it with (at least I have not found one it hurts to use it with and I think I have tried most of them). However you may not see any benefit with filaments other than PLA.

I pretty much just use it on everything anyway.

Ill add it to my queue. So researching simplify 3d some more and most of the tools i will be building won't require support material, which from what i understand thats where S3D Shines. I'm going to play around with repetier i think.

Yes that's one area where it shines however I see better quality prints from it as you do many things like slow down prints in different areas and other various smart features. It also has the ability to reclaim a failed print which I have personally used multiple times

yeah when i plug my bed thermistor back in it gives me a reading of 190.5. I guess i'll pull the tape and pad off the bottom and see what the connections look like. Are these tested before they are shipped?

I would assume they are but who knows what actually happens during shipping now a days. Go to the robo 3d website and ask for a replacement bed heated and thermistors. They are pretty good about it

I doubt they are to any real extent, but I have no direct knowledge.

Well i sent Amazon an email about the printer asking them what i should do and next thing i know i get a tracking number for another printer to be delivered on Monday. Hopefully this one is all good. I was able to fix the heated bed by messing with the thermistor but the extruder was still randomly giving weird readings. Hopefully this second one won't have as many issues and i can start fine tuning the actual printing part.
