Not really a best option in this case, just personal preference.

I run my 40W heaters on a 3A connector but that's just because I find it easier

Hello, I have a problem with my E3D hotend.
I bought the Bowden one, and tried installing it this way, but motor seems too weak.

What I want to do now is to install the Bowden E3D v6 normally (direct) - can some helpful one help me in this? Thanks in advance !

Only difference between bowden and direct (universal) is you'd use a longer ptfe tube on bowden.

A lazier option that works just fine is to reuse the stock heater and not mess around with any wiring.

If I run the blue wires that came with E3d down to the board. does pos/neg matter? the blue ones are not labeled.

Well the blue wires are not even long enough..so i think i'll just use stock heater and connector like printed solid suggested.

Nevermind it was long enough. and I got it installed along with new couplers and a wire chain.

Ran the blue wires down. the rest i used the wires and clips that were there. although I changed the thermo coupler connector to a normal JST so that it would plug right in.

Thermocouple/thermistor is a low current wire and connectors are not going to be a problem.

Technically a thermocouple is different from a thermistor. A thermocouple detects the voltage generated between two dissimilar metals. Thermistors work by NTC (negative temperature coefficient) so as the temperature increases the resistance across the junction decreases.

So for a thermocouple ideally you'd keep a similar metal to the reading point so as to not induce error. Thermistors matter significantly less as you just want minimum resistance chance to the measurement point.

To answer your prior question, there is no polarity for the thermistor or the heater cartridge.
If you were using a thermocouple, which generates voltage, you would definitely have polarity and require a board to transition, which also includes another temperature device to compensate for the voltage generated by the dissimilar metals at the connection point.

I'm wanting to upgrade my nozzle to the E3D V6 but reading through this thread has me thinking maybe I should stick with my stock setup.

I would not just upgrade it on a whim. The hex has most of the features of the E3D from a practical standpoint. If you break something and need to work on the hotend then maybe you replace it.

Thanks for the reply. The main reason for wanting the V6 was so I could print with Ninjaflex which I hear isn't an option with the stock hex version.

With the various mods (like the PTFE tube) you should be able to print with the Hexagon. It would be easier with the E3D since it uses a PTFE liner internally, but you should still be able to get it going with the hex

Any detailed info on using a PTFE tube on my stock hex?
