Just tried, wanted to hear someone else say it first, and same thing. There is a light near D1 that goes green when it has power correct? Cause that isn't happening on this new card but it is on the old.

Typically yes but im wondering about your jumpers that go under the stepper drivers and if the end stop wires are placed correctly

So I did stuff that doesn't matter (typical testing stuff) and I noticed that the light comes on and the board is recognized only when everything is unplugged except for d10-8. Gonna try more combinations just in case

Sure. The Arduino is actually the symphony conductor and the one the computer is talking to.
So any issue can potentially be an Arduino issue -- however they are rare.

Of the electronics the stepper drivers are the most frequent suicides and the RAMPS next (but still not common). The Arduino is a pretty robust little unit.

If you have a spare, swap it out.
Reload the firmware and make sure you can still talk to it.
Power down (remove the USB cable as well) and plug in the RAMPS.
Plug in the USB and see if it still works.

I noticed i had my endstops hooked up wrong and the board (arduino had no life signs) then u hooked from the ramps it was fine.

Regardless of what color the ON led is (some are red, some are green) if it's lit up it means the board has power on, as it should being plugged into a live USB port. Of course if there is a problem with the RAMPS (or stuff connected to it) then that light might go out when you plug in the RAMPS and turn it all back on...

The endstops are evil in that they are small and one pin offset from a ground short :) If you plug them on incorrectly you will short the + buss to ground (not fatal normally, but it won't work).

So I have 3 boards and 2 mega; a is the one that I tried first, b is the one that isn't registering, c is holding the wires so I don't get confused. I also have 2 megas: Z which is the first one that came with the printer and y that I got with a kit. A works with z and y, b works only with the d10-8 plugs in that I can tell, and c only works with z.

So I were to look at this from a point a view that isn't obstructed by my confusion, I would say that b has an issue getting power and to try c. So that is now what I'm going to do.

So question; do I have to always plug in the case fan in every time I go to test the whole everything or can I just plug in the USB? I'm guessing at an answer but I don't wanna assume and have my processors go and overheat like crazy

Sorry for submission overload btw. OK got the new card all squared away and the computer likes it and everything, but it is a literal copy and paste of the issue from the other card with the previous cards [power controller chip things]. Sadly no in regards to the stepper moving, but things haven't gotten any worse so that's good.

Ok summarize for us. What is new and what is stock lol i think im confused. You have in your machine now a:

    1.new arduino
    2.new stepper drivers
    3.new ramps

    Is this correct ?

Don't blame you for being confused, I'm nearly hanging in there myself. So it's got the old ardunio, the newest drivers and firmware, and a new ramp.

And the last issue your fighting is the no movement in the z axis right ?

No movement in z and very little on x and y, yep.

Ok sanity check lol whats the voltage coming out of the power supply? Can you share some pictures (close.good ones) of your ramps board connections ? Your certain you have the junpers under the stepper drivers in the right place? 3 under each?

I assume you replaced the stepper drivers with the RAMPS?
If so did you tune them? Probably not the issue, but rule it out.

It is remotely possible (but you are slowly ruling out everything else) that you might have a stepper motor issue. Seems unlikely that it would affect 3 though (technically 4 since there are two Z steppers). With the power off can you manually turn the steppers without any binding?

OK really stupid question but when you say jumpers under the stepper drivers what do you mean?

There are 3 little black clips thst go.on the ramps under the stepper chips on the r1. This tells the stepper how much to move

This is a top pic with the stepper drivers off. Note the jumpers under where they would be? On the Robo all three should have jumpers installed (on each one of them).

I might not of done that. Here are the pictures. Pictures are of the plain board with no chips or jumpers and then I only put those chips on no jumpers, then all the wires. Then a bag of what I think is jumpers. Lol well that could solve the problem. tmp_20836-20160518_1017291990163887.jpg tmp_20836-20160518_101816-505168669.jpg tmp_20836-20160518_102051996236471.jpg tmp_20836-20160518_102200-783472468.jpg tmp_20836-20160518_102214-2089251650.jpg tmp_20836-20160518_102424703101330.jpg tmp_20836-20160518_102450-465229004.jpg
